Pg 3 of Those WHo Started It All
The six mallrats all stood up and started to walk down the stairs. Amber was the first to get to the bottom and to see two people standing there, a young man holding a girl in his arms. Amber’s eyes went to the other person and the first thing she saw was the girl’s out stretched arm with one of the techno’s zapper on it.
“Are you guys the mallrats?” The guy asked
“We’re the ones that should be asking who you are.” Lex said stepping forward ready to attack.
The girl raised her zapper towards Lex, which made Lex step back a little. “All we asked is if you’re the mallrats or not it’s not a hard question.”
“We’re the mallrats; so you can put the zapper down now.” Salene said looking straight into the girls eyes.
The girl put down her zapper and smiled.
“Since we answered your question, you mind telling us who you are?” Lex said
“I’m Emma, that’s Adam, and that’s…..” Emma started
“Oh my god that’s Ellie.” Salene said shocked.
“So tell me more about this system that the Ram had going?” Jack said sounding very interested.
Jack and Zoey sat in Jack’s room talking about everything from computers to technos. Since the two had gotten back to the hotel, Jack had decided he wanted to know as much as he could about the technology that the technos had going.
“Well Ram had a thing about knowing everything that was going on in the hotel and at the old base, so every computer-except for his own-was connected with all the computers in the hotel and the base. That way he could check on everything that was going on. He also had cameras in the hallways and some of the rooms to keep an eye on things.” Zoey then paused. “Oh and when he found out that Jay was helping the rebellion, he installed this program where a techno must sign in when they come in and when they leave. This was his way of keeping track of everyone.”
“Wow that’s pretty high tech.” Jack said impressed.
“That’s not all he did, that just beginning. He had the zappers, the headsets, the communicators, Virtual Reality, and then there was stuff that he wouldn’t let people see.” Zoey said leaning back in her chair.
“Ram must be a genius.” Was all Jack could say.
“He might have been a genius; But Ram was totally and completely out of his mind, Jack.”
Just then Patch came rushing into the room, almost knocking Zoey out of her chair.
“Watch it will ya.” Zoey said as she steadied herself in the chair.
“Sorry, but I had to get you guys Salene wants you in the café now.” Patch said looking especially at Jack.
“What about?” Zoey asked as she and Jack walked with Patch to the café.
“Just some things.” Patch answered quickly
Patch was the first to enter the café and took a seat next to Dee. As Jack and Zoey entered the café they both noticed a young man that they had never seen before sitting in between Amber and Salene. Zoey, still eyeing the young man, sat down next to Jack who had already taken his seat.
“Jack we a couple things that we need to tell you.” Salene paused. “It’s about Ellie.”
“You want to tell me that Ellie was taking by the technos because she tried to kill Ebony, and you lied to me about it.” Jack said as calmly as he could.
“”How did you find out?” Amber asked confused as much as the others were.
“That would be me.” Zoey said raising her hand a little. “I didn’t know that he had no idea what happened. I told him everything and he went with me to hotel to get my computer, which by the way should be here sometime tomorrow.”
“I’m not mad at you guys about not telling me, I understand that you were worried how I would react and it’s a hard thing to tell someone. I just wish that you had told me when I first got here.” Jack said
“We wanted to tell you Jack, but none of us were sure how.” Salene said
“So how is she and where was she?” Jack asked quickly.
“She was with me and my friends. My name’s Adam. A group of people and me hijacked the truck that Ellie was in and a couple other ones.” Adam answered. “Right now she’s sleeping but on our way here we were attack, Patch said that she’ll be fine but she’s still knocked out.”
“But she’ll be alright?’ Jack said
“Yeah, she should be awake by tomorrow hopefully.” Patch answered
Everyone in the café was silent not sure what to say now.
“So you’re one of the Virt hijackers?” Zoey said breaking the silence
“Excuse me?” Adam said
“That’s what you were called by the technos, you guys were very well known. You guys drove Ram crazy.” Zoey paused. “Well crazier.”
“OK I think that we all should get some sleep, it’s late and it’s been a long day.” Salene said standing up.
Everyone nodded and got up to go to bed. Jack got up but knew that he wasn’t going to be able to sleep, with Ellie lying in a bed unconscious. How could he?
Ruby stood behind the bar serving drinks to her customers, wondering when Slade would be back he had been gone for sometime which wasn’t unusual, Slade had a habit of disappearing for days at a time. Ruby walked over to a bar stool and sat down and leaned her hand against her hand.
“Ruby Ruby.” Ruby turned to see her little sister Gel running towards her.
“What is it now Gel?” Ruby asked annoyed
“He’s awake Ram’s awake and he doesn’t seem happy.” Gel answered out of breath.
“You picked the lock again and went in there didn’t you?” Ruby asked slightly angry. “I though I told you to stay out of that room.”
“You did but that’s not important Ram’s up and I think he’s hurt.” Gel said pulling on Ruby’s arm.
“Fine let’s go.” Ruby said sighing as she stood up and followed Gel up to the room that Slade had put Ram in.
When Ruby walked into the room she saw that Ram’s shirt was torn and there were cuts and blood on it. Ruby quickly walked into the room and turned to Gel again.
“Gel go down and get me some warm water, pieces of cloth, and some bandages.” Ruby said sitting on the bed with Ram. Gel nodded and went to get the things her older sister told her to get.
Ruby carefully walked over to Ram so that she was facing him. She went to touch the zipper on his shirt but he quickly slapped her hand away.
“Your shirt is going to have to come off if I’m going to clean those cuts on your back.” Ruby said standing up straight and putting her hands on her hips.
“Your hands have germs on them; germs lead to a virus which leads to sickness.” Ram said with a strain in his voice.
“Honey everybody gets sick.” Ruby said walking over to bathroom and washing her hands. “See clean.” Ruby said putting her hands up to show Ram.
“Umm Ruby here’s what you wanted.” Gel said putting the things on the table by the bed.
“Thanks Gel, you can go down and mined the bar.” Ruby said. Gel nodded and left the room. “Now we get to cleaning you up.” Ruby said going for Ram’s shirt once again, and Ram again slapped Ruby’s hand away. “Will cut that out, I can’t clean your cuts with your shirt on, it has to come off.”
