Episode 3.01:

Total Destruction

Summary by Scott

We open with Kelly explaining the current situation to us. It's been three weeks since our last episode. A hurt David has moved out of his and Donna's apartment and has been staying with Mel and Jackie. Noah and Brenda's romance is going well. Val is turning into a hermit. Zack and Mark have really bonded, much to Carly's delight. Jake's moved back to L.A., much to Clare's delight (Kelly's completely gotten over her long-ago crush on Jake). Dylan's back in L.A. Lexi's still dating Dan,her pool guy. Steve, Janet and Maddy are visiting Spain (Steve's mother is being honored for her work on Hartley House which just started airing in Spain. She invited the three of them along). Steve and Janet are arguing about the David/Donna situation. Things are going great for Brandon and Kelly.

Carly wakes up, lying next to Mark. She bolts out of bed, the complete Dynamo Mommy. Except that she can't find Zack. Mark reminds her that Zack slept over at a friend's. Mark tells Carly that he promised somebody that he'd have her at the Peach Pit at 10:30 AM anyway.

David is woken up by Erin. She's tired of being Ms. Nice Little Sister. She wants her room back (It's where David has been sleeping.) David counters with a tickle attack but realizes that it is time he was moving on. Mel shows up and suggests that David should give Donna a second chance. After all, as David points out and Mel agrees, Jackie's certainly done it for Mel.

Kelly drops off a care package for Brandon in the sick Brandon's apartment.

Noah drops Brenda off at Now Wear This. They flirt a little, much to the watching Donna's amusement. Donna is feeling a little lonely. Brenda invites her to the After Dark that evening but Donna won't go where David works.

Gina is still trying to decide whether or not to go back to L.A. She decides to call Donna and talk about it once things have calmed down in L.A.

Lexi is going over her photo album for a memory file that Dan wants to do on their relationship. For some reason, whatever it was that attracted her to him in the first place has died. She's ready to dump him.

Carly and Mark are at the Peach Pit and discover Mark's surprise. Carly's friend (and Lexi's cousin) from Montana, Amy is there. They're thrilled to see each other. Amy is slightly attracted to Mark but decides to ignore it for the sake of her friendship with Carly. Worryingly, Mark also seems to be a bit attracted to Amy.

Lexi goes over to Dan's house and dumps him in the meanest, most hurtful way possible. She's completely back to normal.

Val is in the Peach Pit, zoning out. Kelly attempts to talk with her but Val is too out of it to carry on a conversation.

Carly calls her lawyer to make sure that the money from her father's will is being transferred into her bank account. Her lawyer assures her that everything will be okay and asks her what she plans to do with the money. Carly really hasn't thought about this. She finishes with her lawyer and decides to call Clare to talk with her about it.

David gets to work and discovers a stack of messages from Kelly. He calls Kelly but winds up talking to the sick Brandon. Brandon invites David to stay in his spare bedroom. David gratefully accepts.

Amy and Lexi are in Lexi's apartment, catching up. Megan drops by. They all talk but a worried Lexi has a flashback to the mysterious UPS guy she found rummaging through her office. She's still very worried about that.

After Carly and Clare exchange notes on their respective men, Carly invites Clare to lunch at the Peach Pit.

Donna has lunch with her mother. Felice cannot resist the opportunity to lecture Donna about her foolishness in having an affair. Donna remembers Felice's less-than-perfect record in this regard but is too guilt-ridden to point it out. After lunch, Felice and Donna run into Kelly. Just seeing Kelly reinforces Donna's sense of guilt about letting everybody down.

Jake calls Clare to ask her if he should buy a bike or a car. Clare recommends a car which is okay with Jake since he already has a bike. They arrange to meet at the Peach Pit.

Val goes to the shelter. There's a crisis there. One of the women has disappeared and left her four children at the shelter. Two of them-babies-are crying uncontrollably. Val is able to soothe them and calm them down. Ms. Logan praises Val's maternal instinct and tells Val that she'll make a great mother someday. This depresses Val who isn't sure that she'll ever get the chance.

Brandon continues to suffer with his cold.

Jake invites Dylan to come buy the car with him.

Lexi is still worried about the UPS guy and needs somebody to comfort her. As she herself realises, the problem with being Superbitch is that there aren't a lot of people who want to comfort her. Miraculously, Michael calls but Lexi reverts to her usual self and obnoxiously drives him away.

Valerie is lying in bed, brooding. She broods about Brenda and Noah being together. She broods about what she sees in the shelter, about how many unwanted children there are and how many good people can't have children. Her emotions start to run wild. It seems to happen every time thinks of Noah or sees a baby but she doesn't make the connection. She doesn't realise that something's wrong. She keeps lying to herself, telling herself that everything's okay. And then, the worst thing of all happens. The control over her dark side, the control she's fought so long and hard for, snaps. Val, the good person is gone. Valerie, the bitch is back.

Jake drops by the Peach pit to show Clare his new car-a Mustang Convertible.

Donna shuffles around her apartment alone. She wants to talk to somebody, but everybody's out and she really feels awkward talking to Kelly. She finally falls asleep, still sad.

Dylan leaves a message on Brenda's answering machine. He wants to get together with Brenda for lunch and catch up on what's been happening with them since he left Europe.

Lexi decides to go to the mall to burn off the nervous energy that's built up from all her worrying. She runs into Brenda and actually has a pleasant, if brief, conversation with her.

Carly and Mark enjoy themselves at the After Dark.

At the After Dark, David asks Brenda how Donna is doing. Brenda tells David how guilty and sad Donna is. Brenda tries unsuccessfully to get David to call Donna.

At the Peach PIt, Lexi sees Valerie and decides to try to make Val angry. She succeeds by tormenting Val about her miscarriage.

Brenda and Noah go to Brenda's place. Brenda has Noah check the answering machine to see if there are any messages from Donna. Noah hears Dylan's voice on the machine which makes Noah a little edgy. Brenda assures him that there's nothing between her and Dylan anymore but she wonders if she's being honest with herself. Noah tells Brenda that he loves her. They kiss.
