~*~*~

"That was a time for falling,
I knew you well.
There was no time for calling
Me when you fell."

~*~*~

Virginia walked slowly through the swamp looking for her father. Acorn had said he would be on Mushroom Island. She prayed to every god that she knew of that he was there and not asleep. Off in the distance she heard an animal howl.

Wolf…why did I chase you away?

Virginia hugged herself tightly. She felt like crying again but she instead steadied herself and tried to push the empty feeling in her chest away.

~*~*~

"This is a time to take cover,
In a wishing well.
Summer was blowing all over when you fell,
Sailors can take all the breathing out of the sail,
I took a trip when you needed me."

~*~*~

Okay, now she knew she was hearing things. For some odd reason Virginia thought she could hear Veruca Salt singing the song "Wolf." Maybe this swamp was getting to her or maybe she just missed Wolf more than she would like to admit.

"When you fell,
Waters were driving me
To a place
I close my eyes to see,
Your sweet face,
A coke inside of me,
I slept in Hell."

~*~*~

"I slept in Hell," Virginia sang softly to herself, thinking of the night she and her Father'd had on Dragon Mountain. She hadn't really slept that much at all but instead had thought of where Wolf must be and what he was doing. She had realized than that she truly did love him, and the thought of how much pain she caused him when she refused his ring, and him. That was her own personal Hell.

~*~*~

"Angels can be so deceiving
When they love you well,
Did you think you would be leaving me?
These are some lavender flowers,
In a broken shell
They comfort me ever since the day when you fell."

~*~*~

Virginia bent and picked a wildflower growing on a moss-covered log. She inhaled the scent and thought of the wildflowers Wolf had given her in Little Lamb Village. He had been so sweet apologizing and explaining what he was going through. And the jealousy she felt towards those Peep girls was unimaginable.

Then I broke his heart, Virginia thought miserably to herself. She heard his anguished howls and cries after she left the restaurant. It had sounded as if his heart had been ripped out of his chest and she was holding in her hand ready to make it explode.

~*~*~

"When you fell,
Waters were dancing me
In a dark place,
I close my eyes to see
Your determined face,
My secret inside me
I slept in Hell."

Virginia felt a tear slip down her cheek. She quickly brushed it away. She must remember what Snow White had told her. She must remember her destiny. And she was damn sure Wolf MUST be a part of it or it wasn't worth carrying out.

~*~*~

"This is a time for believing
In fairy tales,
One in which you are back with me.
Wolf, I cried wolf.
Wolf, I cried wolf.
Wolf, I cried wolf."

~*~*~

As Virginia rounded the corner she yawned, then saw her Father.

"DAD?"

"VIRGINIA!"

Virginia walked faster towards her father as the last words of the song echoed through her head Wolf, I cried wolf.

No, She wasn't going to cry anymore.

She was going to find her Wolf and never let him go.

And dammit, they would have a Happily Ever After if it killed her.

The End
