Tony reached for Wendell. Virginia shook her head, and then they all started to run, Tony slinging the sack with the mirror shards over his shoulder. The crowd chased them to the edge of the cobblestone streets, but didn't follow into the mountains beyond. As they fled Kissing Town, only Wendell looked back behind them.

So only Wendell saw the familiar figure leaning casually against a building, its face masked by one of the heart balloons. And only the prince saw the balloon lower to reveal the Huntsman's terrifying visage, as hard and unchanging as adamantine stone, as he gazed after them. But Wendell was far too preoccupied with avoiding the angry townsfolk and struggling to maintain his hold on his humanity to bother to warn Tony or Virginia.
