Macster - The Missing Links

"Our Carriage Is Here"

The wonderfully rank and foul stench only increased as Blabberwort and her brothers approached a wide road at the edge of the grass. Her eyes widened as she took in the crowded mass of self-propelled carriages, some so huge they could be gigantic creatures trundling along, creatures that had swallowed their occupants alive.

Burly did not even hesitate, having no fear of the lumbering beasts as he stepped out boldly onto the hard gray road. He glanced around in amazement. "Suck an Elf!" Loud, blaring noises erupted almost instantly, and carriages swerved around them, some crashing into one another. Blabberwort smiled toothily. More havoc, courtesy of the Trolls! She and Bluebell followed, until all three stood arrogantly in the middle of the street.

Blabberwort blinked, almost blinded by the brilliant lights the carriages bore on their front ends, whipping her head back and forth to check both directions and gauge the proximity of the vehicles, which continued to dodge the Trolls and form an interwoven clog of metal. Finally one carriage defied the odds and headed directly toward them, giving out a pleasant screeching noise as it tried to stop.

Curling his lip, Burly simply stood and watched. When the carriage slammed forcefully into his shins, he was not even fazed, barely jostled by the impact. Slowly he looked up from the smashed metal and sneered at the pathetic, trembling human inside the carriage. Then, quite deliberately, he raised his axe and brought it down forcefully on the hood, buckling it and ripping it asunder. A huge gout of steam burst skyward, as well as sprays of various fluids.

Chuckling nastily, Burly turned to his siblings and gestured theatrically toward the metal vehicle. "Our carriage is here," he said sarcastically.

Blabberwort smiled ferally at the cringing man in the carriage, then at her brother. So it was.
