Patty Liu - Silent Reflections

Thirty-Three

“This must be that giant’s footprint lake the billy goats were talking about.” Virginia stood and stared at the huge lake that was created by a mere footprint of a giant. “It’s huge! I hope I never meet a giant.”

“Should we cross it? Where’s the bridge the billy goats built?” Patrick asked while he bent down to study the water in the lake. “I vote we don’t cross it cause the water is filthy.”

“I think the goats either already crossed it or they changed their minds. They were deranged little things,” Virginia answered.

“Huff, puff. Let’s go around it. We have to enter the Sixth Kingdom and cross back again like the billy goats said. This shouldn’t take long. Princess Wendy’s castle should be a half a day’s ride from here if I remember right. But on foot, that will take a day.”

“I suppose we can go around,” the group agreed and began lumbering through the muddy bank of the footprint lake.
