About TaleSpin

TaleSpin was one of the many popular shows shown on The Disney Afternoon, 1990 through 1991, running 65 episodes. In the year 1988, Jymn Magon had an idea for a new series that would include Baloo the Bear and two other characters from The Jungle Book. The series was mostly to be based on Baloo to be the main character and include him in every episode. Jymn (now producer) and his crew, started making production in October 1989 with the plan to have a 65 episode running. The episodes were discontinued in 1990.

TaleSpin made it's first appearence with "I Only Have Ice For You" on the Disney Channel in May 1990. The actual showing of all 65 episodes began with the pilot episode; "Plunder and Lighting" premiering on September 9, 1990 and ending with "Flying Dupes" on August 8, 1991. A showing of the unedited version of "Plunder and Lighting", premiered in 1995 on the Disney Channel. The Disney Channel stopped showing TaleSpin in 1994.

When the Toon Disney channel came into existence in 1999, TaleSpin found a new home. For awhile in 2001, Toon Disney discontinued TaleSpin from its new fall schedule, showing plenty of disappoinment from many disappointed TaleSpin fans.

Finally, after plenty of fighting, Toon Disney gave in, adding TaleSpin to their new season schedule on September 2, 2002. Check Toon Disney.com or your local listings for times.

Fun Facts: "Plunder and Lighting" went through two makings. First, with the unedited editon and then with the edited edition which was made in the middle of production.

Even though TaleSpin never did have a Thanksgiving episode, a special commercial was made and shown in 1990, introducing a now famous Molly quote: "I'm thankful that it's Kit's turn to do the dishes!"

It's been said that Jymn Magon and two of the other TaleSpin writers put the whole series together in just three days! (Very impressive:-)
