One night, Kevin and Eve checked into the Port Charles Hotel for a romantic interlude. While there, Eve was shocked to see DV, a former client from her days as an escort. Eve was clearly afraid of DV and she told Kevin that he was a very dangerous man. Kevin ended up punching DV when he harassed Eve at the Port Charles Hotel. Eve was clearly shaken by DV's presence in Port Charles and Kevin asked her to move into the lighthouse for her own safety.  As it turned out, Eve had become pregnant by DV many years earlier. Eve lost the baby and thought DV didn't even know she had ever been pregnant. DV did know, however, and began playing mind games with Eve to lead her to believe that her son was still alive. This was all part of DV's master scheme to get revenge on Scott. In the end, Kevin, Eve, Lucy, Scott and Victor were able to defeat DV's evil Cobra Project and Eve learned that her son really had died at childbirth.  Eve and Kevin's relationship continued to grow stronger and Eve kept vigil by Kevin's bedside when he was stabbed in the chest by Greg Cooper.  In April 2000, Eve proposed to Kevin, who happily accepted. The next day, Eve began to feel as through she had backed Kevin into a corner and gave him the chance to take back his answer. Kevin would do no such thing and turned around and proposed to Eve. Kevin and Eve were blissfully in love and planned to get married the following month.  Rae Cummings had arrived in town looking for information about her long-lost daughter. Rae and Eve became fast friends and Rae even began to suspect that Eve could be the daughter that had been stolen from her as an infant. This wasn't to be the case, but Eve and Rae's closeness remained.  As Kevin and Eve's wedding day drew near, strange events started happening to Kevin, such as having a Grace look-alike pop out of a cake at his bachelor party and then receiving a case of wine that he and Grace used to drink together. Kevin shrugged these occurrences off as coincidences and prepared to marry Eve.  By this time, it had been revealed that Rachel had been visiting her supposedly dead mother, Estelle, in the metal institution. Unbeknownst to Rachel, Estelle had left the institution and had gone to Kevin and Eve's wedding posing as a caterer. Estelle then took a seat among the guests and as Eve walking down the aisle, Estelle attacked her. Rachel arrived and helped calm Estelle, who revealed that she was Rachel and Grace's mother. Estelle and Rachel accused Kevin of killing Grace and Estelle later confessed to Rachel that she had poisoned the wedding cake. Despite the chaos, Kevin and Eve were married in a beautiful ceremony and then spent a romantic honeymoon in Palau.  Eve and Kevin remained happily in love, although Eve had her hands full at the hospital dealing with a tyrannical Chief Resident in the form of Chris Ramsey!  Eve and Ian found themselves facing a medical mystery after noticing strange markings on several patients they treated at the clinic. To add to the puzzle, Ian and Eve also realized that test results were missing for those same patients. Ian became determined to get to the bottom of the mystery and also found himself growing more and more attracted to Eve, who had to admit that Ian wasn't the arrogant know-it-all she had first thought he was. Ian and Eve's friendship continued to deepen as they began opening up to each other more and more about painful moments from their pasts.  Eve and Ian met with Iris DiMarco, a woman who claimed to have been held in a clinic where doctors ran tests on her. Iris also said that Bob Green had helped her escape. Eve and Ian became convinced that a doctor at General Hospital was involved in their medical mystery and a short time later, Boardman pulled a gun on Ian and threatened to shoot him. Before Ian could learn anything from Boardman, however, Boardman was shot and killed by an unknown assailant.  Ian and Eve learned that Boardman had been involved in a drug trafficking operation and realized that Rachel was the culprit they were really after. At this same time, Rachel kidnapped Lucy and Kevin and held them hostage in her lab. Eve, Ian and Livvie found Rachel, Kevin and Lucy in the lab and Livvie created a distraction to allow Rachel to escape.  Lucy still suspected that Ian and Eve had more than just feelings of friendship for each other, but both denied that anything was going on between them. Ian did have feelings of love for Eve but decided to leave town when he realized she would never be his. As Ian was about to leave, Eve saw him outside of the Recovery Room and went out to speak with him. As Ian and Eve were talking, his car suddenly exploded into a fireball!  Everyone believed Ian and Eve had been killed in the explosion but that wasn't the case at all. The fact was that Ian and Eve had been kidnapped by Harris, an evil man from Ian's past. In exchange for their freedom, Harris demanded that Ian and Eve find a cure for the rare disease that he suffered from.  During this time, Eve began to feel excluded from Kevin's life when he was hesitant to discuss his past. Kevin was now treating a young girl named Livvie who turned out to be Rachel's daughter. Eve wasn't pleased that Kevin was treating Livvie and was also hurt when Kevin kept turning to Lucy with his problems instead of her. Eve began working more closely with Ian at the clinic and both were baffled by unexplained events concerning some of the patients, especially Mr. Green. One day, Ian was knocked unconscious by an unknown assailant and his clinic notes were stolen. Eve stayed with Ian through the night to make sure he didn't develop complications from his concussion and Ian grew even more attracted to Eve. Ian soon learned that Mr. Green was dying. Against Boardman's orders, Ian and Eve decided to treat Mr. Green with an alternative herbal medication and hoped to solve their medical mystery.  Chris arranged for Eve to get a copy of the DNA test results Lucy had secretly arranged and Eve was shocked to find out that Kevin was Livvie's father. Eve went to Kevin's office and confronted him with the secret he had been keeping from her and was unaware that Livvie was already in the room. Livvie was shocked when Eve blurted out that Kevin was her father and Kevin was outraged over the way Eve had handled the situation. Kevin and Eve, who were already on shaky ground, were further apart than ever.  Eve and Ian were determined to solve their medical mystery. Eve and Ian discovered that Mr. Green had been brought in to the emergency room and Ian wanted to treat him with herbal medication but Boardman refused. Ian received a delivery of narcotics at the hospital and was promptly fired. Ian had been set up and Eve promised to help him clear his name. Eve told Ian that Mr. Green was deteriorating rapidly and when Boardman found Ian with a dead Mr. Green, Boardman accused Ian of killing him.  Eve was attacked in the morgue when she tried to get tissue samples from Mr. Green's corpse. Lucy suspected that something was going on between Ian and Eve, but Ian claimed they were merely friends. By the end of the month, however, Ian and Eve had shared a passionate kiss.  Ian and Eve continued to dance around their feelings for one another and Eve became angry when Ian claimed he had only gone to the Recovery Room to return her lab notes on the fateful night of the explosion. Sharing close quarters, however, caused a strain on Ian and Eve as they started to fantasize about each other in a more than just friendly fashion.  Thinking they had come upon the way to kill Harris' parasite, Ian drank the poison himself to prove to Harris that they weren't trying to kill him. Ian fell very ill and Eve convinced Harris to let her tend to him. In exchange, however, Eve had to agree to sleep with Harris once Ian was out of the woods. Ian made a full recovery and was furious to learn about Eve's deal with Harris. Ian then told Harris the only way he would get the cure was to release Eve.  Eve and Ian shared a kiss, which turned passionate but Eve soon became angry when she learned about Ian's deal with Harris regarding her release. Eve was taken to a helicopter, where she knocked out the pilot and made her way back to Ian. Meanwhile, Ian and Harris engaged in a sword fight and Ian killed Harris. Eve and Ian then attempted to escape together in the helicopter and ended up crashing in the woods.  Ian and Eve found refuge in a cabin in the woods and started to make love but stopped themselves. Ian and Eve agreed not to make love until she told Kevin the truth and they returned to Port Charles. Eve headed to the lighthouse and knocked on Kevin's door but didn't get any response. Eve then left to return to Ian and was hit by a car as she was crossing the street.  Kevin was stunned when he found Eve and Ian alive after racing outside when he heard the car accident. Kevin rode in the ambulance to the hospital with Eve, who had been knocked unconscious. Kevin felt guilty for sleeping with Lucy, who felt equally guilty for not telling Kevin the truth about Ian and Eve being alive. In the end, Eve made a full recovery but had no memory of how she and Ian had fallen in love.  A short time later, Eve admitted to Karen that she was having romantic fantasies about Ian. Eve was unsettled by the attraction she felt for Ian and slowly her memories started to return and she remembered the Christmas Eve they spent together. Kevin and Eve were determined to get their marriage back on track and decided to renew their wedding vows. At this same time, Eve went back to the cell where Harris had held her and Ian hostage in an effort to fully regain her memory.  Although both were privately conflicted, Kevin and Eve decided to go through with their vow renewal ceremony. Lucy arrived for the ceremony and was crushed when Kevin told her to leave. When the time came, Eve couldn't go through with the ceremony. Kevin was understanding and told Eve that he had been having second thoughts as well.  Eve was desperate to find Ian to tell him that she remembered how they had fallen in love. During this time, however, Ian had befriended a woman named Arianna who had been marked for death for bringing shame on her family after being raped. Ian had hastily married Arianna to prevent her from being deported and Eve was crushed when she thought Ian had fallen in love with Arianna. Ian explained the situation to Eve, but also said that he had to distance himself from her in order to carry out his obligation to Arianna. Once again, Eve and Ian faced another obstacle in their desire to be together.
