TOW Destiny Takes Over

Okay. You know the drill. I don’t own these characters, Marta, David, and Kevin do. If there’s anything that seems similar or the same to the show, then it was wrote by the wonderful writing team that they have at “Friends” and I thank them for being so talented and inspiring me to write. Adam Chase, you’re my hero. Anyway, all you need to know is that Monica and Chandler are living together, but they’re not engaged yet. This is kind of my version of TOW the Proposal, the best episode of Friends, EVER, and I mean that. Anyway, this is my version of that episode, even though the original was just something that you DO NOT wanna mess with. I’m gonna try and make this one at least half as good as the original, although I really don’t have the talent to do that. Anyway, besides Monica and Chandler, everyone else is single. Also, be forewarned, this is a songfic, there are two N*Sync Songs in it. They honestly fit the story though. Please enjoy!

[Scene: Monica and Chandler’s. He’s just run in to their apartment.]

Chandler: MONICA? Monica! Are you here?

Monica: (She comes out of their room. She looks mad. Remember, he’s been telling her he HATES marriage!) What do you want?

Chandler: Monica, sit down. We need to talk.

Monica: Yeah, we do.

Chandler: Please, let me go first.

Monica: Okay.

Chandler: Monica, I love you. And I’ve been telling you that I hate marriage, but that’s not true. The truth is that I was gonna ask you to marry me that night we ran into Richard. That’s why I was so nervous. If you don’t believe me, ask Ross, Phoebe, Rachel, or Joey. Phoebe even helped me pick out the ring. And if you still are willing to, then I’d like to ask you to marry me now. (Monica is of course in shock. Chandler gets down on one knee in front of her.) Monica, There’s never been much in my life that I could depend on. But you…you have been my rock. When Joey and I were fighting, or Ross was getting on my nerves, when Phoebe was freaking me out, or when Rachel was being too…Rachel, or my parents were being…my parents, you were always there. First as my best friend, later as my girlfriend. I’ll never figure out why you love me, because I don’t feel that I’ve been there enough for you. But I want to be. I want to be there for you for the rest of our lives. I want to be your husband. I want to have kids with you. And I know things won’t always be easy. But you and I can get through anything. We got through telling Ross about us, we got through moving in together and saying good bye to our former best friends to become roommates and each other’s new best friends. I love you Monica. And if you’ll let me, I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the way I feel. I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you. Monica Geller, will you marry me?

Monica: (Gasping, laughing, and crying all at the same time.) Yes. Yes!

(Chandler and Monica hug and kiss for the first time as an engaged couple. Author’s Note: This is the part where you go, “AWWWWW!”)

[Scene: Ross’ apartment. Rachel is there trying to get Ross to be her backup.]

Rachel: …So anyway, I was just wondering…do you have one of those backup things?

Ross: No. I don’t need one.

Rachel: Oh, God. You got married again, didn’t you?!

Ross: No. But…well, I’ve only loved one girl my entire life, and I know that she loves me too. She’s my lobster. And I know we’ll end up together…

Rachel: What? Who…(Realizing that he’s talking about her.) Ross, look. What makes you think I love you?

Ross: I just know you do.

Rachel: How?

Ross: Because, it’s fate. Destiny. Here. (He stands up, takes her hand, walks to the center of the room, and presses a button on his stereo. Some music starts to play and he puts his arms around Rachel’s waist.) Dance with me.

(Rachel puts her arms around his neck. This is the song they dance to… By the way, I am not an N*Sync fan, but this song just fits, okay. Don’t give me any crap about it…Oh yeah, one more thing. That stupid band doesn’t put the lyrics to all of their songs in the paper in the front of the CD, so these are the lyrics as interpreted by me, I may have the first line of the second verse wrong, but the rest I’m reasonably sure is right. Anyway, if you want to hear it yourself, it’s Track #10 on “No Strings Attached”.)

Rachel: (Like Phoebe in TOW The Prom Video.) You’re my lobster! I love you, too!

(They kiss and hug.)

Ross: Rach, one more thing.

Rachel: If you say “we were on a break” it’s really gonna ruin the moment…

Ross: I’m sorry. We WEREN’T on a break…

Rachel: I know this will sound crazy, but that’s the most romantic thing anyone’s ever said to me.

Ross: Thanks. Rachel, are we…you know? Going out. Are we “Ross and Rachel”?

Rachel: (Thinks.) Yes.

(Ross smiles and she smiles back, then they kiss. This ends that little scene.)

[Scene: Joey and Rachel’s. Joey is there, eating pizza (What else?) and reading one of those bad reviews of his plays. He’s frowning.]

Phoebe: (Entering.) Hey Joey! (Sees his face.) Aww…Joe, what’s wrong? (Sees the paper.) Another bad review?

Joey: Yeah, I’m never gonna make it!

(He sets down the paper and pizza and gets up and goes over to the chair.)

Phoebe: (Follows him over there, stands in front of him.) Joey, look, this is gonna happen for you. Look, you are a terrific actor. Besides, you’re gonna have to cheer up! You’re aura is MURKY!

Joey: Phoebe, no offence, but if you try to clean it, I swear, I’ll never talk to you again.

Phoebe: Fine, be murky…is there anything I can do?

Joey: Hmm…nothing that you’d actually do…

Phoebe: Why wouldn’t I do it?

Joey: Because you’re not a hooker…

Phoebe: I can be!

Joey: (Laughs.) Yeah, right.

Phoebe: I’ll prove it to you. Hand me a twenty…

(Joey hands her a twenty.)

Joey: Here…

Phoebe: Okay, now c’mere…

(Joey stands up and walks over to her. They are about two inches away from each other. Phoebe hesitates for only a second, then passionately kisses a VERY surprised Joey. They break the kiss…)

Joey: Well, that cheered me up!

Phoebe: Wow!

(She pulls him in for another kiss, which surprises him more, but he gets into it. They pull apart.)

Joey and Phoebe (At the same time.): I love you…what? You do?

Joey: Always have… you’ve always been the one who ALWAYS understood me, no matter what.

Phoebe: Same here…You know what you are?

Joey: What?

Phoebe: You’re my lobster!

Joey: (Monica style.) I know!

(They kiss.)
