I’d like to thank Lori for helping me with this series. Without her I don’t think I could have done this.

Elizabeth opened the door and turned around to shut it, when she noticed that Michael was sitting on her couch.

“What the hell are you doing in my apartment?” she said bewildered.

“You’re surprised to find me here, Bethy?”

“I told you that I wasn’t going back to England with you. Now if you would please leave.” she said as she grabbed the papers she needed and headed for the door.

“Where are you going so late?...Oh I guess you’re going to spend the night with your boyfriend. What’s going to happen next?  Are you going to move in with him? Perhaps get married and have a couple of children?”

“I’m not going to stand here and talk to you about this. Now get out so I can be on my way!”

Michael stared at her for a few moments, trying to read the thoughts going through her head  and then stood up and walked out. Elizabeth watched him walk out the back entrance of the building. She closed her eyes, put her head back and thought, “This is not going to be easy.”

She walked out and got in the van, when Mark said, “Hey what took you so long I was just going to call a search party to come look for you.”

“I wish you would have.” she said under her breathe.

“What?”

“Nothing, lets just go home, I’m tired.”

The next morning Elizabeth woke up and looked at the clock, it was 4:30. Her shift didn’t start for another hour. She rolled over and looked at Mark. He was so peaceful when he was sleeping. Mark was the best thing that had happened to her in long time, and she wasn’t going to let Michael ruin their relationship. But what was she going to do about it? Michael obviously wasn’t going to give up that easy, and she could be as stubborn he could. It was funny, she spent a lot of time trying to forget about Michael and whathappened between them. It was all in the past, to be forgotten, never to be thought of or spoken of again, and when she saw him that day, sitting in chairs, it all came back to her. All those memories she tried so hard to forget, hit her like lighting. She saw Mark flinch, and then his eyes opened.

“Good morning beautiful.” he said with a smile on his face.

“Hey”

“What are you doing up so early?”

“Just woke up. You know you’re even cuter when you sleep.”

“Really?”

“Absolutely.  But now I have to get a shower before I’m late for work.” she started to get up, but Mark jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom door.

“Why don’t you lay with me for a little while?”

“Because I can’t be late for work.”

“Romano won’t mind if you’re a little late.” he said coming towards her.

“Mark!  What are you doing?” she laughed and started to run into the living room.

“Come back here!” Mark said laughing as he chased her around the couch and into the kitchen.

“What has gotten into you?  You sure do have a lot of energy for just waking up!” she said out of breath.

“It’s because I go wild at the sight of you!”

Just then she turned around to see how close behind her he was and he picked her up in his arms and said, “You need to get in the shower, young lady, before you’re late. Come on lets go!” And he carried her into the bathroom.

The ER wasn’t that busy, considering it was a Friday afternoon. The nurses and doctors were roaming the halls, and patients were getting less as the hour went by. Mark hadn’t seen Elizabeth since the trauma this morning, when she had to take the young boy with a small bowel perforation to the OR. He wanted to do something special for her. To kind of take her mind off of the past few days. So he decided to find Carol to see if she had any ideas on what he could do.

“Carol!” Mark screamed down the hallway.

She turned and looked. “Hey Mark.”

“I need to ask you something. See I’m trying to plan something for Elizabeth tonight, but I’m not quite sure what to do. I was thinking maybe taking her to her favorite restaurant. What do you think?”

“That sounds great. But how about something else? Going out to eat is so practical, try something a little more romantic. How about...” she thought for a few moments. “...how about setting up a picnic in the park, right by the big fountain in the center, you know where I’m talking about?”

“Yeah”

“That would be nice, with candles, and her favorite food. Maybe you can get an order to go, from that restaurant you were talking about.”

“That sounds great! Thanks Carol, I owe you!”

“Don’t mention it Mark.” she grinned and walked away.

The elevator doors opened and Elizabeth walked out in a hurry. She walked up to the front desk.

“You paged me?”

“I believe that was Dr. Greene.” Haleh said with a giant smile streched on her face. “He’s in the suture room.”

Elizabeth walked down the hallway and opened the door to the suture room. Mark was stiching up a mans leg when she pulled the curtain back.

“Mark, you paged me?”

He looked up, “Uh...yeah.” He turned to the patient, “Could you excuse me for a moment.?” He grabbed Elizabeth by the hand and led her out in the hall.

“What time do you get off?”

“Seven o’clock, why?” she curiously asked.

“Great I’ll wait for you.” he started to walk away.

“Mark!?” he turned around. “What have you got planned?”

“You’ll just have to wait til tonight.” and he walked back into the suture room.

She smiled at the thought of how he was acting today. He was defineately feeling better since his father had passed away. She couldn’t bare to wait until 7 that night, so she decided that she would go ask the nurses if they knew anything about it.

“Lydia, have you heard anything about what Mark is doing tonight?” she said hoping not to give herself away.

“Yeah I heard, but we’re not supposed to tell you.”

Yosh overheard their conversation and added, “Don’t worry Dr. Corday, you’re going to have a good time, just bring an extra blanket.” everyone laughed and walked away. That didn’t help her any, it just made her more curious.

It was about4 o’clock later that afternoon when Elizabeth decided to go back down to the ER to see if they needed any help with patients, or what-not. It wasn’t too busy. She walked by the front desk and Jerry yelled for her.

“Uh...Dr. Corday, there’s a guy for you in chairs, it’s the same weird guy that was here before.”

“Oh god, not again, not at work!” she thought. She slowly waltzed towards chairs, knowing what the conversation was going to be about.

“What do you want now, Michael?” her voice monotone.

“Bethy, I’m tired of trying to fight with you. You know I desperately want you to come back to England with me. And I told you I’m not giving up that easy. My flight leaves today, I’m going to ask you one more time...Bethy, will you come back to England with me?”

Elizabeth looked at him, puzzled. What was he up to? She knew him too well this must be some kind of trick. “Michael, I think you know what my answer is going to be. Why don’t you go back to England, and leave me alone?”

“I’m afraid I can’t do that Bethy. You are coming with me.” he said as he slowly pulled out a shiny handgun.
