The Magician was later revealed to be ENESTO TOSCANO, Isabella's father.

However, Ernesto was aware that Isabella was in fact, not his daughter but Victor's daughter.

To make matters worse he was out to kill Isabella for killing her half sister, Marina.

Kidnapping Isabella and taking her to his island he left the others on the ship and BLEW IT UP.

Of course the Salemites escaped and found their way to the island in search of Isabella.

Unfortunately not everyone left the island alive.  Hope was killed in a "magic act gone wrong"
