James Marsters plays Spike.  James Wesley Marsters was born August 20th, 1962 in Greenville, California,  His father was a minister, and his mother almost became a nun, and he has one brother and one sister.
He grew up in Modesto where he attended Davis High School, after graduating he went on to study at Julliard, (where he starred in such classics as "Twelfth Night" and "Troilus and Cressida") but after two years he was kicked out, he then went to the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, and the American Conservatory Theatre. James spent about ten years on the stage before he realized that there wasn't enough money to be had on the stage and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a film and television acting career.  He had several guest shots on shows like "Northern Exposure" and "Medicine Ball", before eventually landing the role of Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  In the meantime, he has guest starred on "Millennium", "Andromeda" and also had a small role in the 1999 horror film "The House On Haunted Hill."
James has a scar on his left eyebrow, which he got after being mugged in New York.
Off screen, James enjoys working on his car, playing guitar, singing, painting, and writing.  He currently lives in Los Angeles.
