Alyson
Lee Hannigan plays Willow Rosenburg. Allison Lee Hannigan, (later
changed to Alyson) was born on 24th March 1974, in Washington D.C.
Her parents divorced when she was 2, her mother is a real estate
agent in Atlanta, and her father is a truck driver in Missouri.
Alyson
was a clarinet player in junior high school, and played football
until she got an injury in her early teens. She graduated from
North Hollywood High School in 1992.
Alyson
was only 4 years old, when she began her acting career in Atlanta.
Her early career included appearances in adverts for Oreo Cookies,
McDonald's, and Six Flags Amusement Parks. Her first appearance on
the big screen was as Jessie Mills in "My Stepmother Is an
Alien," a film that also starred Dan Aykroyd, Kim Basinger
and funnily enough Seth Green, who played Jessie’s first date.
The film pretty much faded from sight following its brief run in
theatres. During the 90’s Hannigan bounced around on television
for awhile before landing her star-making role on “Buffy the
Vampire Slayer.” Alyson went on to guest star on a number of
popular television shows, including "Picket Fences,"
"Roseanne" and "Touched by an Angel." She was
a recurring guest star on the series "Almost Home" and a
series regular on "Free Sprit." She has also appeared in
the movies, “Dead Man on Campus” and was in the hit comedy
movies, “American Pie” and "American Pie 2." The
producers of "American Pie" originally wanted her to
play the role of Heather, but she wanted a change from the smart
kid and asked for the role of Michelle as she thought it was a
more comical part.
In
her free time, she likes to surf the web, practice kickboxing and
spend time with her dogs and cats. She currently lives in Los
Angeles. Alyson is currently dating "Angel" star Alexis
Denisof.
In
May 2000 she, along with actresses Tangi Miller and Holly Marie
Combs became spokespeople for breast cancer, and appeared in a
four-page brochure (featured in several women magazines) to raise
awareness about the disease.
