Synopsis
During a training session at Giles' house, Buffy's concentration is disrupted by her younger sister Dawn. The youngest Summers girl later writes in her diary(The Dawnmiester Chronicles)about her sibling rivalry with Buffy.
Dawn: People wouldn't be so crazy about her if they had to live in the same house with her every single day. Everybody cares what she thinks. Just 'cause she can do backflips and stuff.
The next morning, Joyce tells Buffy to bring Dawn shopping for school supplies. As Riley arrives, it's clear that Dawn dosen't like him.
Giles, Buffy & Dawn take a ride in Giles' new sports car. They stop when they meet Willow & Tara, as Dawn's voiceover reveals how much she likes the two.
DAWN VOICEOVER: Willow's the awesomest person.
Cut back to Dawn in pajamas, now lying on her bed writing in the diary with a smile.
DAWN VOICEOVER: She's the only one I know who likes school as much as me.
Cut back to the street. Dawn smiles at Willow, then the camera pans over to Tara.
Dawn: Even her friends are cool! Like Tara. She and Willow are both witches. They do spells and stuff, which is so much cooler than slaying. I told Mom one time I wished they'd teach me some of the things they do together. A-and then she got really quiet and made me go upstairs. Huh. I guess her generation isn't cool with witchcraft.
In the Magic store, Willow trips over the body of the owner. Dawn is sent outside while the Scoobies investigate. While there, a crazy man approaches her and starts saying strange things to her.
Crazy: I know you. Curds and whey. I know what you are. You ... don't ... belong ... here.
After examining the body, they realize that it was a gang of Vamps that had raided the store.
In her lair, Harmony congratulates her gang on a successful raid. She tells the gang that they will kill the Slayer on that night.
Xander & Anya come to babysit Dawn while Buffy & Riley go to patrol. During a board game, a brick comes through the window. There is a note attached challenging the Slayer. Harmony comes to the door and starts to insult Xander. Without thinking, Dawn tells the Vamp to come inside and fight him. Harmony dives in and attacks Xander. He manages to kick her out the door and locks it.
Buffy freaks when she finds out about the invite. Dawn tries to run away, but Anya stops her. One of Harmony's minions knock Anya down and take Dawn. Spike tells Buffy where Harm's lair is. Buffy goes there and kills the Vamps just as they were about to turn on Harmony who managed to escape the wrath of the Slayer.
The next day, Giles decides to buy the Magic Box after seeing how much money it made. Dawn writes in her journal that Buffy thinks she is just her dumb little sister and that she was in for a big suprise.
Analysis
The Crazy seemed to know more about Dawn than we do. He mentioned curds & whey. In "Graduation Day" DreamFaith mentioned Little Miss Muffet counting down from 7-3-0. In Restless, Buffy looked at the clock and it read 7:30. That is when Tara said "Be back before Dawn". Is this a prophecy that has been transpiring since season 3?
