Lesley went running downstairs as soon as she heard the crashing, like someone was destroying the place. She caught a glimpse of Luke before he left, and saw all the broken pictures on the floor near the wall. Seeing no sign of Laura, she went back upstairs and headed for her room, wondering what brought this on. She walked in seeing Laura in a state of shock.
Les: Laura? Honey, are you okay?
Laura (whispering): He's gone. He's really gone this time and he won't come back.
Les: What happened here?
Laura: He doesn't believe me.
Les: Laura, what happened?
Laura (screaming): The kids. They heard the whole thing. I have to see if they're alright.
Laura tries to get up out of bed to check on the kids, but Lesley takes a hold of her arm and leads her back down. Laura was in no condition at the moment to check on anyone.
Les: They're fine. Lucky just went in to check on Lulu. She woke up during the crashing downstairs.
Laura: Crashing? What crashing? Is Luke hurt? Did he get into an accident?
Les: He's fine. He just... (not knowing how to tell her since she obviously did not hear it)
Laura: He just what? Mom, you have to tell me.
Les: He broke all the pictures that were over the fireplace. I'm sorry.
Laura starts to cry and shake violently. Her life just started spinning out of control and she didn't know how to stop it. Lesley tried to grab a hold of her to calm her down, but Laura broke away from Lesley and ran downstairs. She came to a crashing halt before making it all the way down, after seeing the sight before her. Glass from the frames was everywhere, the pictures on the floor next to the wall. She slowly made her way down the rest of the stairs, and went over to the fireplace, placing her hands where the pictures of her family once lay.
Laura: All our pictures. They're just pictures now... just memories. Memories that Luke wants to forget.
Les: Laura, sit down on the couch. You need to.
Laura: I can't. I have to clean this up. I have to save the pictures... our pictures.
Les: I'll clean them up for you. Just take a seat and tell me what caused this.
Laura looks at her mother and nods. She goes over to the couch and starts to cry, the impact of what happened coming to her in full blast. The image of Luke's eyes... eyes of hatred instead of love, coming back to her. Hearing his words again, "I gave you everything I could possibly give you, Laura. I gave you more than I could ever give anyone else. And this is how you repay me... in the arms of my worst enemy in OUR BED! Don't. Don't sit there wanting to patch things up or make me understand. And don't expect me to say it's okay or I forgive you. That will never happen!" And the picture that couldn't exist, yet it was laying on her bed. The picture that confirmed that he had lost all trust in her, and now she would never be given the opportunity to win it back.
Laura: How did this happen? How did the Cassadines win?
Les: What do you mean?
Laura: He knew. He knew that Luke wasn't here. He knew that Luke didn't trust me anymore, and he used it. He used it to take away the one thing I wasn't willing to give up.
Les: Who?
Laura: Stefan.
Les: What does Stefan have to do with all of this?
Laura: He made sure Luke would come home to check on me. He made sure that Luke would be worried until he saw the picture. He made sure that Luke would leave me afterwards, and he did.
Les: What picture?
Laura: An impossible picture. (Takes a deep breath, staring at the empty mantle over the fireplace) A picture of me in Stefan's arms in my bed. In Luke's bed. Luke saw it when he came to check on me. He saw it and left.
Les: Did you tell him that it was a phony picture?
Laura: I tried, but he wouldn't listen. He looked at it as if it were confirmation of what he had feared. He trusted the picture more than he trusted me.
Stefan ditched the car before getting to the docks and headed back to Wyndemere. He wanted to see the ending to his well scripted plan, but he knew that Luke would pay him a visit as soon as he left Laura. Stefan wanted to make sure he was at Wyndemere to put the rest of his plan into action. He walked into the house and went over to a picture of Nikolas. "This is for you, my son. Your mother will know the consequences of her sins for leaving you... and leaving me."
Luke was in a blind rage when he got to the club. He went to his office to grab his gun, preparing for one last showdown with Stefan. He opened his safe, grabbed some bullets, and went over to his desk, taking the gun out of the drawer. He sat back for a minute, trying to think about this logically. He looked over at Laura's picture and knew there wasn't anything logical about what had happened... about what she had done.
"Why, baby? Why him? Was I not enough for you? The last thought that would have ever crossed my mind would have been you cheating on me. Maybe I was naive to believe that our love was enough to last a lifetime. Maybe I was foolish to believe that our devotion was endless. I will always lo..."
Tears start forming in his eyes. He tries desperately to wipe them away, but they come down stronger. He turned away, closing his eyes until he could stop the tears. When he looks back at the picture of Laura, he sees the image of the picture that was on his bed. Stefan with his arms around Laura, both under the covers, but enough showed that they both were without clothes. Laura had her head on Stefan's chest, her hand placed as if she were rubbing it like she used to rub his. Luke, trying to get the image of them together out of his mind, grabs Laura's picture, breaks the frame over his knee and throws it in the garbage, before leaving to meet the devil.
Luke snuck onto the island and inside Wyndemere without being seen, like the hundred times before. He spotted Stefan sitting at the table, reading over some papers. Luke stepped out of hiding, pointing the gun straight at Stefan's back. Stefan, feeling that someone is behind him, looks back and sees Luke. He takes off his glasses, places them on the table, and stands up. Luke steps closer, raising the gun a little and releases the safety. Coldy he says, "What's to prevent me from putting a bullet in your head?"
