Man's best friend is a dog. Man's best beast of burden is a horse. Let's talk about riding horses, on and off. Let's go back more than half a century to World War 1. That's when domesticated nags were around. That's also about the time the old Ford came on the scene.
It should be clear from this little story that sometimes encouragement was necessary by our paternal ancestors. "Stay with him", was the yell of challenge for us many a day. While all of the kids had a chance on the broncs, I picked up the most lessons, on and off. i was generally inefficient in such things as making money, fishing, and other useful occupations. It just naturally evolved that I spend my time riding horses.
