Chapters 71-72

Madison Avenue

Olivia arrived for dinner with Elaine. She asked for their table and if Elaine had gotten there yet. She was told no. Olivia sat down at the table the waiter had led her to and waited for Elaine to get there. But no Elaine came. Then, a waiter came up to her and gave her a message from Elaine saying that she was going to be late, but would get there. Olivia decided to wait for her. Besides, Gregory was busy with Ben Evans and she hadnīt seen much of Elaine for years now.

Forrester mansion

Elaine pulled up the driveway. She knew Olivia was waiting for her at the restaurant, but didnīt care. She was going to see Gregory. And she was lucky. No one seemed to be home but Gregory. Ben hadnīt gotten there yet. At least, his car wasnīt there. Exactly what she was hoping for. She was wearing a sexy tight dress to impress Gregory. She had done her best to look the best she could that night. Elaine rang the doorbell, and she was right. Only Gregory was there. He answered the door.

Gregory: Elaine? Shouldnīt you be out with Olivia?

Elaine: I am on my way. Is she ready?

Elaine pretended that she was supposed to pick up Olivia.

Gregory: Iīm sorry, she left about 30 minutes ago.

Elaine: Oh! Stupid me... We were going to meet there... Can I use the phone?

Gregory: Sure. Come in.

Elaine layed her hand on his shoulder and smiled at him.

Elaine: Thank you. Did she bring her cell?

Gregory: I donīt think she did.

Elaine made her call to the restaurant, giving them a message for Olivia.

Elaine: OK, now she knows Iīll be late.

Gregory: Well, good-bye then. And have fun.

Elaine wasnīt happy. He had barely noticed her looks tonight. She had to do something else.

Elaine: Before I go, can I have a glass of water or something?

Gregory: Of course. Thereīs water and ice-tea in the livingroom.

Elaine went into the livingroom. Perfect, she though. Ica-tea... She poured herself a glass and ‘accidently’ spilled out some on her dress.

Elaine: Oh no! God, Iīm so clumsy...

Gregory picked up a napkin and helped Elaine to dry it up. Elaine smiled to herself. This was more like it...

Gregory: I donīt think you can wear this dress tonight. It will leave a stain. See...

Elaine: Typical. Now what?

Gregory: You could borrow something from Olivia.

Elaine: Are you sure she wonīt mind?

Gregory: Iīm sure.

Elaine: OK, Iīll do that.

Gregory followed Elaine up to his and Oliviaīs room and showed her where Olivia kept her dresses.

Elaine: Could you help with the sipper?

Gregory did as she asked. He pulled the sipper down on her back, leaving her back completely open.

Gregory: Too bad about the dress. It looked great on you.

He HAD noticed it. Elaine smiled.

Elaine: Thank you, Gregory. Thatīs very sweet of you.

Gregory left the room and went back downstairs. Back in the bedroom, Elaine looked through Oliviaīs dresses. She found one that she remembered Gregory loved on Olivia. It was a georgeous and sexy low-necked silk dress. And matched her purse. She took it out of the closet and put it on. It looked terrific on her. She repared her make-up and ran her fingers through her hair before walking down to Gregory again.

Gregory: Wow, you look very beautiful in that.

Elaine: Well, thank you Mr. Richards. Itīs all because of your generosity.

Elaine placed a little innocent kiss on his cheek and left for the restaurant.

The Cadeīs hotelroom

Emma was all packed to fly back to Atlanta. She had booked a later flight since she was visiting her grandmother Stephanie all day.

Emma: OK, Iīll have to get going now, dad.

Devin: Letīs go.

Emma: Bye mom! Have a great time here now.

Angela: I will, bye bue darling.

Emma and Devin left. Devin was taking Emma to the airport in their rented car.

Emma: Dad, what would make you stay here?

Devin: Nothing! I thought weīve been through this already. Your mother and I will come home in a few days.

Emma: What if she donīt want to leave then?

Devin: That wonīt happen.

Emma saw no reason for trying to convince her father in stying. She had to leave it up to Eric to try.

The ICU

Eric was sitting by Stephanieīs bedside. She was still in a coma. Eric was getting impatient. He had almost expected Stephanie to wake up and be fine just like that. The doctor waled in.

Doctor: Youīre still here?

Eric: Yes I am.

The doctor walked over to Stephanie and checked her pupils with his little flashlight. Still extended. No reaction. He also checkes the machines she was hooked up to. No diffrence.

Eric: Any change?

Doctor: No, Iīm sorry.

Eric looked disappointed. He took Stephanieīs hand in his.

Doctor: I think youīre hoping for too much too soon. God knows what sheīs been through. Give it some time.

Eric: I will. But I know that she will come back to me.

Doctor: I donīt know if I explained this to you, but when and if she wakes up, thereīs no tell how she will be. She might be a completely different person to you. She might have braindamages...

Eric: Thank you, doctor. I know all that.

Doctor: I just want you to look at this realistic.

Eric: I appreciate your concern doctor.

The doctor looked at Eric in disbelief and left the room. Eric felt a move from Stephanieīs hand. He rushed after the doctor. He was told that it probably only was a muscletwitch. Eric went disappointed back to Stephanieīs room. He looked at her and got the feeling that it was more than that. Was she coming back now?

Outside Cadeīs hotelroom

Eric had been waiting for Stephanie to wake up for a couple of hours before he came to the conclution that the doctor propbably was right. Only a muscletwitch. Eric remembered his promise to Emma and had left to talk to the Cadeīs. Angela opened the door.

Angela: Dad! Itīs so nice to see you again! What brings you by?

Eric: I need to talk to you. You and your husband.

Angela called for Devin who came out soon after from the bathroom.

Devin: Mr Forrester, he greeted.

Eric: Eric, please. I wanted to speak to you about the future.

Angela: The future? What are you referring to?

Eric: Iīm talking about where you live...

Devin: Emma didnīt talk to you, did she?

Eric: She did. And Iīm glad she did.

Devin: We are not moving here. Our home is in Atlanta. If you donīt like it, then your family could come and live there with us.

Angela: Devin!

Devin: Iīm sorry. But just because weīve found your family - who is total strangers to you, we should just leave our home, our friends, everything... To come and live in Los Angeles of all places?! And what about Emma. She needs to finnish school - in Atlanta.

Angela: There are schools in Los Angeles too.

Devin: You really want to move here, donīt you?

Angela: I think I do, yes.

Devin: I donīt know. It feels to soon.

Eric: It is soon, I know that. But maybe in a few months.

Angela: I see no reason to wait that long. Emma could switch school by fall. And she is OK with moving. She wants this. As do I.

Devin: Where would we live?

Eric: We have a guesthouse by the mansion. Itīs bigger than this hotelroom. Nice view. Newly rebuilt. Eric didnīt mension that Rick died there several weeks ago.

Devin: I donīt know.

Angela: Devin, sweetheart... I know how you feel about Los Angeles. But you have to realize that the city isnīt all that bad. Look at my family. Are they doing drugs? Are they prostitutes? No.

Devin: I guess you have a point.

Angela: And I donīt have a job. And you can live anywhere and still have your job as a writer.

Devin: Ok. I give up. For you and Emma.

Angela: Are you sure? I donīt want you to move here because you feel forced to it.

Devin: No. I donīt feel forced. You have just gotten your family back. And Iīm guessing you want to be there for your mother. Itīs no problem.

Angela: Thank you darling! Iīll go call Emma, she should be home now.

Angela went to call her daughter. Devin looked at how happy she was. That made him feel happy.

Devin: It was nice of you to come by, Eric. I hope your wife is doing better.

Eric: I hope so too...

Forrester mansion

Olivia and Elaine returned from their night out. They were laughing and remembering old times. Elaine tried her best to smile although she would rather be throwing up after spending one night with her former best friend who just made her sick these days. Elaine was still disgusted with Olivia for sleeping with Elaines son, Cole. Elaine felt that Olivia didnīt deserve to be happy. That ment not deserving Gregory.

Elaine: Oh, look at the time... I promised Paula to stop by her place tonight. Iīll go change dress. And thank you for loaning me it.

Olivia: Thank Gregory.

Elaine: By the way, where is he?

Olivia: Around somewhere. Maybe in the study with Ben.

Elaine: Then I wonīt desturb him. Iīll just have to thank him some other time.

Elaine went up to Olivia and Gregoryīs room and looked herself in the mirror. She hadnīt closed the door all the way yet and saw out through the hallway from the reflection in the mirror. She saw Gregory heading that way. So Elaine took the opportunity and as quickly as she could took off her dress. She was standing in her underwear in the bedroom as Gregory walked inside. Gregory saw her and said he was sorry and quickly left the room. Elaine felt good about herself. Maybe this plan of A.J.īs wasnīt so impossible after all...

Martin Gutherieīs remote house

Sheila and Mike had just arrived at Mikeīs brotherīs house. Sheila and Mike had turned over Stephanie to him after they took her out of the other house and then started the fire and set the explosion for Kristen, Casey and Felicia. Their plan had gone just as they planned. They had brought a homeless woman to the house a few hours earlier. And put her in the same room as Stephanie. They had injected Stephanie with sedative so she would be asleep for quite a while and chained the homeless woman in Stephanieīs place so the police would find bones after the explosion. Kristen would know that Stephanie was the only one there and therefor it would be useless to identify the bones. Sheila had made sure that Felicia and Casey saw her in town and made sure they followed her and Mike as they drove to the house. They had taken the chance at how they would react and do after they brought them to Stephanie, but they went right into Sheilaīs trap. While Casey and Felicia hid from Sheila and Mike, they had taken Stephanie outside on the backside and taken her to Martinīs car. Martin, who had arrived at the house just before the others had finnished installing the detonation in the room with the unconscious homeless woman. After that, he left the house from the backdoor and drove away with Stephanie. Then Sheila and Mike started the fire and left the house. Then Felicia and Casey had broken inside the house and gotten Kristen out and then Mike hit the detonation and the house exploded. The plan had worked perfectly. Ever since then, Martin had had Stephanie locked up in his house. Sheila had given him instructions on what to do with her. He were to torture her with everything she had done to others. Making her insane. Almost brainwashing her. Stephanie was a nervous wreck when she had the chance to escape from Martin. She had to focus on getting free. And she had succeeded.

Sheila: What do you mean, she escaped?!, Sheila shouted at Martin.

Martin: Yes... Iīm so sorry, Martin replied filled with shame.

Sheila: I canīt believe this! How the hell did she escape from those chains? What kind of moron are you?!

Martin: She complained about the chains hurting her...

Sheila: So you took them off or what?!

Sheila was ticked off at Martin. He had blowned her whole plan. Everything was ruined. Probably her life in freedom also.

Mike: Sheila, calm down. You canīt think clear when you get like this.

Sheila: I canīt calm down! Your stupid brother have destroyed my life!

Mike: Sheila, why donīt you go outside. Take a few deep breaths.

Sheila: Iīll do that. I have to. I need to think.

Sheila left the room.

Martin: Mike, Iīm really sorry.

Mike: Just tell me what the hell happened.

Martin: I had been drinking. I was fairly drunk, I admit that. I went down to the cellar. She was begging at me to let her go. I told her that I couldnīt. Then she badmouthed you and Sheila. And she was really mean. Then she yelled at me and I couldnīt take it. I kind of hit her...

Mike: Kind of?

Martin: I hit her hard. Over and over again. I donīt know what got into me. She was screaming. And crying. She was bleading heavily and was shaking.

Mike closed his eyes to calm down.

Mike: Why, Martin. Why? We never told you to do that.

Martin: I know, I know. She just got to me. Maybe it was the alcohol. Anyway, she looked so weak. She cried that she was so afraid. That she didnīt mean to scream at me. She asked if she could wash off the blood. She said that the chains really hurt her wrists. I felt sorry for her so I agreed to unlock them while she wached off.

Mike took a deep breath at his brotherīs stupidity.

Martin: I thought I was careful. I took down a bucket I filled with water and locked the door to the cellar, so that she couldnīt escape if she tried to. She was so weak that I didnīt think she had the strenght to even try. I unlocked her and suddenly, she took the bucket and took a swing at my head. I think I lost my balance. I got up and got hold of one of those shots with sedative. I grabbed it and stuck her in her leg with it. She then somehow kicked me and I lost conscious. She must have gotten hold of the keys to the cellardoor and escaped cause when I woke up, she was gone.

Sheila: (she had been listening to Martinīs confession) Why the hell didnīt you call us?

Martin: I was too ashamed.

Mike: Is she back with her family now? Is the police looking for us?

Martin: Iīm afraid so...

Mike: What are we going to do?

Sheila: Donīt worry. The cops will never catch me alive. As long as I go under Sheila Smith and donīt show myself so much in public. Damn it! Now I canīt have my revenge.

Mike: Donīt you think weīve done enough?

Sheila: Hell no! This time I will have a sweeter revenge.

Mike: This time? No, Sheila, what are you up to now?

Sheila: I donīt know - yet. But I am going to have my revenge.

The ICU

Angela had followed Eric back to the hospital to see her mother again. No change with Stephanie yet. Only the cuts and bruises. They were healing for every day that passed. Eric and Angela sat down beside Stephanieīs bedside. They talked about Angelaīs early memories of her mother. How Stephanie used to come by at least once a week, just to sit with Angela. Read to her, comb her hair, talk to her about their family. Angela had been microcephalic, and hadnīt understood so much of what Stephanie had said. But she enjoyed her visits more than anything else. Eric mentioned Deveneys name and how upset he had been when he found out the truth. Angela: Iīve heard the others mention this Deveney character. But I never understood that. Who is she?

Eric: Deveney Dixon... After your ‘death’, Dr. Powell found a look-a-like to replace you. I guess he didnīt tell Stephanie the truth about your accident cause he was guilty to it and didnīt want to lose the monthly payment Stephanie payed. He hired Deveney to take your place. He told Stephanie about the accident. But never told her that you had died. He said that you had needed plastic sergery and therefor looked different. She fell for his lies. She kept visiting Deveney.

Angela: Thatīs awful! When did she found out the truth?

Eric: Years after. She saw Deveney moving. She never believed that Angela could get better just like that. So she got the truth. That her daughter was dead, and that sheīs been visiting a conartist for many years.

Angela: God...

Eric: After that, Deveney blackmailed us for thing Stephanie had told ‘Angela’. Then she was in an accident and left town.

Angela: What ever happened to Dr. Powell?

Eric: He died. In the caraccident where Deveney got injured.

Angela felt relieved that he was gone. He had been good to her when she was really little, but had gotten worse. He didnīt take good care of her the last year. Thatīs probably why he forgot the breakes on her wheelchair.

Eric: So how are you now?

Angela: Iīm doing fine. Iīm on daily medication. I have been every since I was starting doing progress.

Eric: Thatīs good to hear. I canīt believe we have you back. Stephanie is going to be so...

Eric stopped. Eric and Angela turned towards Stephanie. She was moaning. She was starting to wake up!

Forrester mansion

Elaine had just left. Gregory had appologized again, even though he didnīt feel guilty of anything. It was his bedroom and he didnīt know that Elaine was changing in there.

Olivia: I hope you didnīt embarras poor Elaine too much.

Gregory: She didnīt seem very embarrased.

Olivia: Really? I sure would be if your best friendīs husband walked in on you wearing only your underwear.

Gregory: You have nothing to feel embarrased about, my dear, Gregory joked.

Olivia: Ha ha. Did Elaine have anything to feel embarrased about?

Gregory: No... - smiling

Olivia: Watch it! - laughing.

Gregory: Or what?

Olivia: Or I will make you pay...

Gregory: Oh, I think Iīd like to.

Olivia smirked at her former and future husband and kissed him.

Elaineīs hotelroom

Elaine: A.J. Itīs me.

A.J: How are things going over there?

Elaine: A.J! What do you expect from me? Just snap my fingers and Gregory will come running after me like a puppydog?

A.J: Nice thought.

Elaine: No. But things are definitely going the right way.

A.J: Tell me more.

Elaine: I managed to give him a little sneak preview of the future... He saw me in my underwear. In the bedroom.

A.J: Really?! And how did he respond to you?

Elaine: Well, he excused himself and left the room.

A.J: Not good.

Elaine heared a noice in the background.

Elaine: What is that?

A.J: Just Spike.

Elaine: Oh... Why donīt you just open the door and let him go? He doesnīt like living there.

A.J: Olivia want him, so Iīll keep him for her.

Elaine: You will have Olivia, although I donīt know why you want her. She slept with our son, remember.

A.J: And both she and Cole regretted it. Besides, they didnīt know each other.

Elaine: Or so she says...

A.J: What is that supposed to mean?

Elaine: She knew Cole was your son. That didnīt bother her.

A.J: Thatīs history.

Elaine: And so is Oliviaīs hold on Gregory. Iīll get him all for myself, I promise you that.

A.J: Sound like you have a thing for him.

Elaine: Maybe I do.

A.J: Elaine, Elaine... Gregory?!

Elaine: Donīt judge me. I could say the same about Olivia.

A.J: Letīs not get into that again. Keep in touch.

Elaine: I will, bye.

Elaine hung up the phone and smiled to herself.

Elaine: I will have Gregory all to myself, itīs just a matter of time.

Ridge and Taylorīs house

Ridge and Taylor was sitting in the sofa, talking about Stephanie and miracles. Ridge felt as though every hard time was behind him. Morgan or Annie was out of his life, his mother was alive and Taylor had forgiven him for sleeping with Morgan. Ridge kissed Taylor.

Taylor: Ridge, what are you doing?

Ridge: Kissing my beautiful wife.

Ridge kept on kissing Taylorīs neck. Taylor felt a little uncomfortable.

Taylor: Ridge, stop.

Ridge didnīt listen. He kept kissing her.

Taylor: Ridge! I donīt want to...

Ridge: Whatīs wrong?

Taylor: I donīt feel like making love.

Ridge: Right now or to me?

Taylor: To you...

Ridge: I see.

Taylor: Ridge, Iīm sorry. I thought I was over it. I thought I had forgiven you. But I canīt. I canīt trust you. At least not yet. Iīm sorry.

Ridge: Donīt be, Doc. I screwed up and I understand that youīre hurt. I was wrong. I donīt know if I had forgiven myself if I were you.

Taylor: I think youīd better go.

Ridge: Yeah. I come by tomorrow to see the kids. Bye.

Taylor layed down on her sofa. She fell asleep after a few minutes in to Ally McBeal. She had a wonderful dream. She was on a green field, the sun was shining and the birds were singing. Then a dark man came up behind her with a red rose in his hand. She smiled at him and they kissed. It was Nathan Bennett. Taylor layed smiling on the sofa, enjoying her dream.

The hospital

Stephanie: Eric...

Eric: Iīm here, sweetheart. Can you hear me?

Stephanie dozed off again.

Eric: Could you go find a nurse or someone?

Angela: Sure.

Angela left the room.

Eric: Stephanie? Stephanie?

Stephanie came to again. She moaned. It sounded as though she was in pain.

Eric: Donīt worry. Iīm here. Youīre going to be fine. Help is on itīs way.

Stephanie: Eric? Is that really you?, she managed to whisper.

Eric: Yes, sweetheart, itīs me. Youīre in the hospital. Remember?

Stephanie: What happened?

Eric: Donīt worry about that now. Try to relax.

A nurse followed by Angela entered the room. Stephanie couldnīt see clearly yet so she didnīt recognize Angela. The nurse examined Stephanie and gave her an injection to ease her pain.

Stephanie: No... No more neadles. Please...

It was too late.

Stephanie: Stop them Eric. I wanna go home.

Eric: You canīt yet. Youīre in the hospital. Donīt worry. Youīre safe.

Stephanie: Kristen? Howīs Kristen?

Eric: She is all right. She is just worried about you.

Angela realized that this probably wasnīt the right moment for her mother to get such a surprise as her long lost daughter to reappear. She stayed in the background. The nurse left. Stephanie saw someone in the back. By Angelas blond hair, Stephanie assumed she was Kristen.

Stephanie: Why are you standing over there, honey? Come here... Iīm so glad youīre alive and well.

Angela was a little confused. It wasnīt exactly the reaction she had expected from her mother. She went to her motherīs side. Stephanieīs eyesight strenghten. She saw Angelaīs face clear now.

Stephanie: Oh my God... Angela? Is that you?

Stephanie started breathing heavily by the shock of seing her dead daughter by her side.

Eric: Stephanie, calm down... Breathe calmly. Yes, itīs really Angela. Our daughter is alive.

Stephanie: But how? It canīt be...

Eric: She didnīt die. She survived that accident. She was sent to Atlanta.

Stephanie: But you can walk...

Angela: I was cured. New treatment.

Stephanie reached out to her daughter and hugged her. She was very confused. Was this for real?

Eric: It is for real.

Eric bent down and hugged his wife. The three of them was reunited. Just then, Kristen and Felicia walked inside. Both surprised at what their eyes saw.

Felicia: Mom!

She went over to Stephanie and hugged her. Kristen stared at Angela. She still didnīt believed Angelaīs story. And was mad that Eric and now Stephanie swallowed it.

Kristen: Mom... Thank God youīre all right.

Stephanie: Iīm so glad youīre OK. You are, arenīt you?, she asked worried.

Kristen: Yes, now I am.

Kristen went over and hugged her. Angela moved back. She felt as though she was intruding.

Stephanie: Angela? Have you met your sisters?

Angela: I have..., she repiled mildly enthusiastical.
