“Bianca?”
Bianca looks up from her drink, Megan is standing behind the bar wiping it down. Megan ran her hand thru her shoulder length curly dirty blonde hair. Bianca couldn’t help but stare into her hazel eyes.
“Bianca! I really have to close. Did you drive?” to which Bianca nods, “Alright how’s about I drive you home?”
“You’re so good to me Megan, ah” Bianca said as she attempted to stand for the first time since she sat down four hours ago. “Why do you let me drink so much? And smoke so much?” realizing she had smoked over a pack this evening. Bianca shook her had, ‘damn you Frankie’ because of you I smoke cigarettes. And since it has been four years since Frankie was murdered, it been four years that Bianca’s been smoking. Not to mention Erica hated it that she smoked, and for that matter drank too. Erica often hinted to Bianca that she drank too much, but Bianca didn’t think so.
“Come on Bianca let go,” Megan lead Bianca out of the bar and locked the doors. And headed to her car. She got to her car and realized Bianca had walked to her own car. “Hey Bianca, over here, remember were taking my car!”
‘This is going to be a long night’ thought Megan. She then walked over to Bianca’s Audi TT and grabbed her hand and led her over to her BMW convertible, helped Bianca into the car and fastened her seat belt.
“You know I can fasten my own seat belt, I am not completely wasted!” Bianca barked at Megan.
“I never said you were I just like to pamper you!”
“Oh shut up, you already have a girlfriend, stop flirting with me!”
“Why do you always think that I am flirting with you, can a friend pamper a friend? Hun?” Megan said as she winked at Bianca.
“Just drive me home!”
“Yes master.” Megan said getting a bit annoyed with Bianca. “You know I am only joking around with you. Maybe you should look into why you always think I am flirting with you. Maybe you have hidden feeling for me!” Megan looked over as Bianca rolled her eyes and simply gave Megan the finger and then started laughing.
“Yeah, I have a thing for you, don’t you know, I am madly in love with you.” Bianca winced on the inside saying that, while Megan thought she was joking, Bianca knew the truth. That she does have a thing for Megan, she not sure if she’s IN love with Megan but she does like her as more than a friend.
“You know I don’t believe in love any more!” Bianca flatly stated, ‘not since Frankie’.
The rest of the car ride was spent making small talk. When they arrived at Bianca’s loft, Megan made sure she had her keys and told Bianca to give her a call tomorrow. Megan then got back in her car and banged her head on the steering wheel. ‘God I am so stupid, I have a girlfriend and I am flirting with Bianca. Why can’t I stop thinking about Bianca? I have been with Abby for two years now, TWO YEARS! I shouldn’t be flirting with Bianca. Stupid, stupid, stupid Megan, you can be so stupid. Bianca doesn’t even think about you in that way. We have been friends for years and you HAVE a girlfriend. Now go home to her and stop being immature!’ With that Megan put her convertible in first gear and sped home.
Bianca stumbled up the stairs to her loft and fumbled with her keys, but finally got the door open. Walking in she flicked on the lights, ‘god this place is a mess, oh well’. She then saw that her answering machine was blinking, three new messages.
“Message one. Friday 6.58pm. Hey Bianca, it’s Leo give me a call when you get home. Later”
“Message two. Friday 8.08pm. Bianca, BIANCA! This is your mother pick up the phone. I know your home! Bianca where are you? Alright I will try your cell.”
‘Good thing I turned my cell phone off!!!”
“Message three. Friday 9.34pm. Binks! What’s up grrl! I know your not home right now since you are sitting at the bar with me. But you asked me to call you to remind you to call your mother in the morning. So call your mother in the morning! I am going to make you another drink now and talk with you. Later darlin’.”
“AGH! Why do you have to be so damn adorable!”
With that she sat down on her couch and wondered if anything good was on TV. Then she figured she should change out of the clothes she’s been in all night and put her PJs on. Walking into her bedroom she couldn’t help thinking about Megan. She looked so adorable tonight in her baggy carpenter jeans and a tight black tank top. And her usual Doc Martens. If Bianca didn’t she Megan outside of the bar she would assume that, that outfit is the only thing Megan owns, since she wears all the time at the bar. But Bianca also knew that Megan liked to be comfortable, something Erica couldn’t understand about Megan. But Bianca really didn’t care what Erica thought, even though it would bug the hell out of Erica if they dated. But they aren’t going to date since Megan has a girlfriend. ‘Get that through your head Bianca!’
She grabbed her head and rubbed her eyes, she needed to take a cold shower and go to bed.
Chapter 2
“What in the world?” She looked at the clock, “8.30 on a Saturday morning, what is this world coming to?” Walking over to the phone
Bianca decided maybe she should screen her calls. No, she decided to answer the phone and tell the person off who decided to call her
and wake her early in the morning.
“What?”
“Bianca, that is no way to answer the phone, please people are going to think I didn’t raise you right! Now that that is understood, why were you unable to be reached last night? Where were you all night?” Erica demanded from Bianca.
“Mom… I was… I was out!”
“You were at the bar, weren’t you? Did you drive home??” Erica yelled into the phone so loud that Bianca took the phone away from her ear.
“No Mother, Megan drove me home. Before you even ask I will tell you, I was stressed out from a whole weeks worth of work and I hadn’t hung out with Megan all week. So I went to the bar to hang out with her.” Bianca was waiting for the next round of grilling from her mother.
“Speaking of work, how’s that going?” Erica decided it would be best not to fight and to change the subject.
“Good, thanks for asking.” Bianca also decided it would be best not to start a fight with her mother this morning and take her asking about work as a peace offering. Since Bianca knew that Erica hated her career choice. Bianca had used the money in her trust fund to open a coffee house. While Bianca ran the coffee house, she also was going to grad school to work on her PHD in modern English literature and women’s studies. Erica hated both the coffee shop and the PHD stuff. Erica felt that Bianca was better than serving people coffee all day. She also felt that Bianca should be going to business school so she can help run Enchantment. Which Bianca wanted no part in, at all.
“Speaking of the coffee shop, I have a perfect idea, I was thinking I could use it as the back drop for my next line of commercials and that was you could get some publicity.”
“Mother why are you doing this?” She was wondering what her mother was up to. So she walked over to her couch and sat down. Then searched through her purse for her cigarettes. Once she found them she lit one, ‘Must have morning cigarette!’ Erica had been babbling about how she was just trying to do something nice for Bianca, when she heard Bianca light her cigarette.
“Bianca Montgomery! Smoking is so bad for you! Why must you insist on smoking?”
“Because I want to… OK! Drop it mom, it been four years, its taking you longer to get over the fact that I smoke than the fact that I am gay! Maybe you should think about going to a support group for parents who’s kids smoke.” She knew that one was going to get a reaction from Erica.
“Bianca, till the day I die I will never accept the fact that you smoke. You chose to start smoking, you didn’t choose to be gay!”
“Ok, ok, ok… forget I said anything. Sorry. How about going to lunch with me?” Bianca offered as a peace offering.
“Sorry, Bianca I have to go out of town, remember? Maybe if you didn’t drink so much you would remember things I tell you!”
‘It has nothing to do with how much I drink and everything to do with the fact that I tune you out most of the time!’ Bianca said to her self and then laughed out loud.
“What is so funny?”
“Nothing, hey I have a favor to ask of you? Megan and I are going to New York City next weekend, mind if I take your car?” Bianca didn’t want anything to happen to her car… after all it was brand new. Also they were Christmas shopping and neither of their cars had backseats or big enough trunks to fit all they were going to buy.
“What don’t want to drive your car? What about Megan’s car?” Erica thought Bianca was a little too protective of her car.
“Please mom, PLEASE!????”
“Ok! Have a good weekend, I will talk to you when I get back. Don’t crash my car when you take it! Alright, love ya bye.”
“Bye mom, love ya too.”
Now that that was settled she should give Megan a call, since Bianca is up now, she might as well wake up Megan. So she picked up the phone and dailed Megan’s number.
“Hello…” a wake awake Abby answered the phone.
“Sorry Abby, didn’t mean to wake you. Is Megan home?” Bianca asked. Abby rolled over to hand Megan the phone and found she was not in bed.
“Where is she?”
“She not home?” Bianca questioned. “She did make it home last night didn’t she?”
Right as Abby was about to get out of bed and go looking for Megan, Megan walked through the bedroom door, “Who ya on the phone with?”
“It is for you, its Bianca. Are you ok?” a concerned Abby asked her, “What were you doing?”
“Oh, I am fine. I woke up and couldn’t go back to sleep so I went downstairs to watch TV, I didn’t want to wake you up.” She smiled at Abby. ‘Best not to tell you why I couldn’t fall back asleep.’ Megan had woken up suddenly from very sexual dream about Bianca. So she had went down stairs to write Bianca a letter, which she then burned in the fireplace. Abby then handed Megan the phone, “Hey Bianca, what’s up darlin’?”
“Hey girl. I was wondering if you would have lunch with me and then take me to the bar to get my car?”
“Sure, how about I pick you up around eleven? How are you feeling this morning? No hangover?”
“Well I would be better if I was still asleep, but since my mother dearest called at 8.30 I am wide awake. No hangover, I told you last night I wasn’t that wasted!”
“I didn’t say you were, REMEMBER? Any ways, see at eleven?”
“Ok, see ya then, Bye.” And with that she hung up the phone. And Bianca’s face lit up; she was going to get to spend time with Megan again! And then Bianca remembered that Abby, Megan’s girlfriend, had answered the phone. ‘Megan has a girlfriend!’ Why is it the first person she has feelings for in four years, has to have a girlfriend. Oh well, she then figured she might as well enjoy her time with Megan.
Megan set the phone down and looked at Abby lying in bed. Megan realized she wasn’t being fair to Abby, while she loved Abby, she had feeling for Bianca. Feeling which she had to deal with.
“Megan come here and lay with me.” Abby said but then looking at Megan is questioned her, “Are you sure your ok, you look upset?”
“Abby we need to talk….”
“WHAT?” Abby screamed into the phone.
“Uh, is Megan there?” Bianca had no clue what Abby was screaming for.
“No, she is on her way to see you.” Click. The phone hung up. Bianca was really worried now. Just then someone knocked on the door, “Megan!” Bianca screamed as she ran to her door, she then opened it and saw Megan standing there in tears. “Meg, what the hell happened?” Bianca said as she grabbed Megan’s arm and lead her into the loft. She walked over to her couch and pulled Megan down to the couch also.
“She kicked me out.” Megan said point blank.
“She kicked you out? WHY?”
“Well she told me not to come home until I figure things out.”
“Figure what out? What the fuck are you talking about? I didn’t even think you two were having problems, I thought you worked out all your problems months ago. Do you still have feelings for Hollie? Well?”
“Ya I guess I do still have feeling for her.” Megan spit out as she started sobbing. Hollie was a friend of Bianca and hers. However Megan didn’t really have feelings for Hollie, she had feelings for Bianca, but she wasn’t going to tell Bianca or anyone the truth. So she keep up the lie that she like Hollie. “I can’t stop thinking about her.”
“Well maybe this is a sign that you need to be with Hollie, I can talk with her if you want?” Bianca offered.
“NO, I mean I need some time to figure out what I want and who I want. Until then can I stay with you?”
“Of course you can, come on let go cheer you up!” Bianca said as she put her arms around Megan.
Chapter 3
Boy did Bianca have a surprise in store for Megan. But since it was a surprise she had to keep up her story that she was taking
Megan to NYC to go Christmas shopping. So after Bianca got out of the shower at 6.30 am she got ready and then attempted to wake
Megan.
“Meg, it’s time to get up! Wake up! Megan!” Bianca screamed at her.
“Jesus Christ! What time is it?” Looking at the clock Megan then said, “Why the hell are we getting up so early? We can’t even check into the hotel until 2pm! Let me sleep, woman!”
“Come on, get up. You want to get in all the shopping we can, don’t you? Trust me, just get up and get ready. Please?”
“Fine, I am up!” Megan said as she stretched out on the couch, “Do I have time for a shower? And could you please make me some coffee?”
“Take a shower and we will then stop at the coffee house and I will make you your favorite white chocolate mint latte! Ok?”
Megan shrugged her shoulders and headed for the bathroom. Twenty minutes later she appeared. Dressed in her most comfortable jeans and a turtle neck sweater, Bianca smiled. “Ready to go finally!” Bianca said.
“Yup, mind if I sleep on the way there?”
“Nope, that’s fine with me. Lets go.” She and Megan grabbed their bags and headed to the car. After stopping at the coffee house and making their drinks, they hit the road for NYC, or at least that’s what Megan thought. So she drifted off to sleep. Once asleep Megan began to dream, or at least that’s what Bianca thought, since about an hour into their drive Bianca was laughing at Megan and her obvious sex dream. Since Megan was moaning and saying something, which Bianca thought was a name maybe, but she couldn’t make it out. All of a sudden Megan awoke from her dream. “Ha ha, have a nice dream Meg?” she said as she started laughing and mocking her and moaning.
“What the hell are you moaning for?” Megan asked. Was she moaning in her sleep? Then she hoped that she had not been also talking in her sleep.
“Well you were the one moaning for the past hour! Ha. Who was the lucky girl?”
‘You were.’ Megan wanted to say but she decided it was best not to say that, “No one I recognize, sorry about that.” Megan than looked out the window and started worrying. “Bianca, where are we? This isn’t the way to NYC. Are we lost?”
“No, surprise! We are not going to NYC.” She said as she winked at Megan.
“Where then may I ask are you taking me?”
“To the Von Sherman Family Inn.” Bianca said like Megan should have heard of it.
“The Von Sherman Family Inn? Where the hell is that?”
“In the Catskills. You know we are still going to New York, just not New York City.”
“Why are we going there? I thought you wanted to go shopping?” wondering what Bianca had in store for her.
“Nothing more than a friend pampering a friend!” Using Megan’s own words against her.
“You’re up to something Binks, aren’t you?” She was now down right curious about what was going on.
“You’ll see.”
Few hours later, Bianca pulled the car down this poorly paved back road. After about ten minutes on that road this tiny building appeared. And the sign in front of it read “Von Sherman Family Inn Est. 1973”. She parked the car in front of the building and looked over at Megan. She looked confused.
“Is this the Inn?” She questioned.
“No this is actually the office for the Inn, I rented a cabin for us. But we need to go check in.” With that Bianca got out of her car and walked into the building. She walked up to the front desk and rang the bell for service.
“Hello, welcome to the Von Sherman Family Inn. Did you have reservations?”
“Yes, it’s under the name Bianca Montgomery.”
Megan decided to let Bianca take care of the front desk stuff and just look around. As she was walking around she noticed a plague on the wall with an upside down pink triangle on it and other symbols on it, curious she walked over to look at what it was. It read: “We here at the Von Sherman Family Inn are open minded people and expect the same of our guest. To be blunt people of all races, creeds, religions, and sexuality’s stay here. So keep that in mind and make sure to keep your mind open! Thank you… the Von Sherman family.”
“Meg. Megan? Ready?” Bianca said as she walked towards Megan. Megan then pointed at the plague and told Bianca to read this. Meanwhile the women behind the desk watched them reading the plague. Curious she walked over to them and asked, “You don’t have a problem with that do you?” pointing at the sign.
“No, god no, trust me we’re cool with that. In fact I think its great that you have that policy. Makes me feel welcome.” Bianca said.
“Well that’s good. Please if here is anything I can get for you let me know. And enjoy your stay here.” With that the women walked back behind the desk.
“Off to the cabin. We need to drive to it.”
“Ok.”
They both got in the car, and two minutes later they arrived at a log cabin at was much bigger than the Inn’s office. They got their stuff out of the trunk and walked towards the cabin. Once inside, they both stood there in shock. The inside was brand new and gorgeous. As they walked around Megan turned to Bianca and asked her, “How fuckin much did this cost you?”
“Lets just say it was worth it.” She smiled at Megan. And walked into the bedroom and set her bags down. Megan followed her in and once again stood in shock, there was only one bed! Bianca saw the look on her face and got scared, “hey I was planning on sleeping on the couch so don’t freak on me! I made the reservations last minute so they only had this cabin left.”
“I am not freaking, I just…” she had no idea what she was thinking. Part of her just wanted to tell Bianca how she felt about her and kiss her right then and there. But she suddenly got scared that Bianca would slap her if she told her how she felt. So her fear got the best of her and she spit out, “you can take the bed, I’ll sleep on the couch, since you are paying after all.”
“No you can sleep in here, you have been sleeping on my couch for the past week. Take the bed, I insist.”
“Whatever we can fight it out later for the bed. Is there anything to eat in this place, or do we have to go into the nearest town and grocery shop?”
“Nope, I sent them a grocery list, the kitchen is stocked! All the food you could want. Oh and in case you forgot any bathroom stuff, I had them buy that stuff too. Want me to make you something to eat?”
