Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma learn that Vegeta is also on Planet Namek and so is Frieza. Goku is informed of this and recovers from the battle against Vegeta instantly by eating a senzu bean from Yarijobe. Using Nappa's space pod after Bulma's father has enhanced it, Goku travels to Namek. At the same time, the deceased Yamcha, Tenshin-han, Chauzu, and Piccolo are training with King Kai.
Meanwhile, Vegeta begins his fight against Frieza. With strategic actions, Vegeta kills Dodoriaa and Zarbon, Freeza's right and left hand men, and steals the captured dragonballs from Freeza. However, Vegeta learned from Dodoria that the Saiyin planet was not destroyed by a meteor as stated, but by Freeza. Ambitions to kill Freeza are strengthened. Krillin and Goku rescue a Namek child Dende who takes them To the father of all nameks for a dragonball and they get there powers strenghtened. Vegeta is defeated by Frieza's henchman Zarbon, and is taken into Frieza's base where he takes the dragonballs from Frieza then goes and gets Krillin's. Zarbon appears but Vegeta defeats him this time. Now vegeta thinks he posesses all the dragonballs, but Gohan managed to secretly take one. Vegeta chases Krillin for it.
Freeza learns of Vegeta's betrayal and calls forth the Ginyu Squad. Team Ginyu, consisting of five members (Guldo, Jeice,Burter,Ginyu,and Recoome) who constantly pose in funny dances, have a reputation as being powerful warriors of destruction. Vegeta learns of the imminent arrival of the Ginyu force and he and the Z warriors team up. The ginyu force lands and takes the dragonballs back to Frieza. Vegeta saves Krillin and Gohan by killing Guldo before he killed them. Next recoome battles them and beats them badly. Goku finally lands on Namek. He destroys Recoome nd Burter but Jeice runs away to tell Captain ginyu, who is at the ship. Ginyu comes back and switches bodies with Gokou. While Vegeta and ginyu are fighting Gokou gets his body back, and Ginyu becoms a frog. Jeice was also killed earlier by Vegeta. Then, Gokou is taken to an isolation tank and everyone prepares for the fight against Freeza. Guru, the father of all nameks and creator of the dragonballs sends Nail to tell the Z warriors the password to the namekian Dragon balls. however he runs into Frieza and stalls him so Dende can tell the Z warriors the password. is trying to find out the password to the Dragonballs from Nail.
The Namekian dragon Porunga is summoned and Piccolo is wished back. Vegeta comes to t Porunga as sson as he realizes that it was already summoned. The enraged Vegeta learns that there is still one wish left, however Guru andPorunga dies before it could be fufilled. Then the battle with Frieza begins. To everyone's surprise, Freeza has the ability to transform into a few stages. With each physical transformation, Freeza's power increases. Vegeta is killed by Freiza in his last stage and Goku comes in time to see Vegeta and here his last words. Goku takes a long time to create a spirit bomb the size of a three story house. however the bomb is not enough and Krillin is killed and piccolo is almost killed.
Goku becomes enraged in anger so deep that he too undergoes a transformational powerup. Goku's hair becomes yellow and straightens up one end. He has reached Super Saiyan level for the first time. The tides of battle now turn for Goku. With a single blast, Freeza destoys the planet and knows that in a matter of minutes it will blow, killing goku, but Frieza can breathe in space. Shenlong on earth and is summoned and revives everyone that Frieza killed. Guru died because of a broken heart due to the fate of his people, so he and Porunga are brought back as well. The revived nail wishes on porunga to teleport everyone but Goku and Freeza to earth and it is done. Freeza creates an attack similar to a destructo disk but he controls it. Freeza forgot about the disk and it flew at him cutting him into 4 pieces. Somehow he survives and begs for mercy. Goku (the very naive Goku) gives frieza energy, but Frieza tries to attack goku and Goku is forced to blast Frieza killing him. The planet explodes and everyone thinks that Goku was killed in battle, but Goku really escaped to planet Yardrat, where he learned how to teleport. On earth the immortal Garlic Jr. and his henchmen come and uses a horrible mist to turn the world into evil. Krillin piccolo and Gohan go to confront him, while he has Mr. Popo and Kame captive. Piccolo pretends to be infected by the evil but really saves the prisoners. Mr popo and kame go into the ancient realm haunted by the ghosts of past guardians, and succeed into pouring the antidote to the evil on the world. Garlic Jr enraged opens the Deadzone in an attemp to suck the Z warriors in, but is blasted in himself.
King Kold, Freeza's father, learns about Frieza's defeat and quickly gathers Frieza's body parts, which are floating around in space. His henchmen quickly re-ensemble Freeza (Freeza is now a cyborg). Frieza tells his father about Goku and his powers, but his father doesn't believe him. Kold continues to boast that he is the universe's strongest warrior and best space conquerer, and can never be defeated.
The villains land on Earth to seek revenge for Freeza's defeat. All of a sudden, a figure appears out of nowhere. It is Future Trunks, but no one knows who he is or where he came from. He turns into his Super Saiyin level and aids the Z Warriors in their battle. Trunks single-handed kills Freeza and Kold with the aid of his sword. Trunks introduces himself as Bulma and Vegeta's son. He grew up and traveled back in time to prevent his chaotic future. Trunks tells about deadly androids which will come and create chaos. He carries heart attack medicine for Goku. Trunks also tells that Goku is not dead, but will appear in front of them in a matter of minutes. Everyone doubts this stranger. In a few minutes, Goku really teleports back to Earth in front of everyone and meets Trunks.
