NYC Trip

In just a short time, the hallways and a few classes will be a little less crowded. For the past three years, students have been selling fruit and preparing for a traditional trip with the music department. In past years it’s been Toronto or Dallas. One year the trip was to Washington, D.C. This year, however, the destination is New York City.

While in New York, music students will be staying at a Ramada Hotel in New Jersey, about a half hour away from the city. During the days, various places such as Broadway shows and local attractions will be visited, and a few students will even participate in a music workshop.

The entire trip, which totals at $530 per student, was funded mainly by fruit sales. Other ways of paying for this trip were working to unload or distribute fruit, balance transfers from family members previously in music, or by paying for part of the trip out of pocket. This year’s music trip lasts for four and a half days, two of which will be spent in New York. Students will also spend two days and nights on the buses.

Although there are a few concerns with the current war, most are confident that this trip will still occur. In fact, many would be very upset if the trip were to be cancelled. Otherwise, this year’s music trip will be a great success and fun for all. What do we music students have to say? New York or Bust!!
