*** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** Lee and Amanda sat together on his sofa with files and papers scattered on the coffee table. Lee sat back and yawned. "Amanda, I'm bleary eyed. How about we call it a night. Thanks to you, I think I've got the agenda set."

"Yeah, you're right. It's getting kind of late. I'd better be going," she concurred after looking at her watch.

"Now wait a minute. I meant we were done working. I don't want you leave. Stay the night, please," he said with a look that could melt a glacier.

She gave him a quick peck on the cheek. "I wish I could, but I can't," she replied, avoiding his eyes.

"You mean, you could stay the night, you just don't choose to," Lee countered in frustration.

"We've been through this a thousand times already," she answered and got up off the sofa and started collecting her things.

"So explain it to me so I can understand. The boys are with Joe tonight at the Orioles game in Baltimore. So what's the problem?"

"Mother's been a bit unsettled with the rash of phone calls we've been getting at night. You know about the hang ups; you were there the other night when we had another."

"So tell her to unplug the phone," Lee replied quickly. "You said it was just kids anyway."

"Well I assume they're girls calling Phillip. At that age, teenage girls play silly games like that, but I'm not certain," Amanda reiterated.

"So call your mother, tell her you'll be working and to unplug the phone if she wants to."

"If Joe tried to reach me and the phone was unplugged he'd have a tough time now wouldn't he? Not to mention she doesn't buy the working all night line anymore; if I stay tonight, she'll be haranguing me like you wouldn't believe while you're out of town. "

"Out of town WORKING, you might add. You are an adult, you know. Why don't you just tell your mother to mind her own business?" he yelled with frustration. They had been married for seven months. But the nights they spent together as husband and wife were few and far between.

"Because I don't talk to my mother like that. She doesn't know we're married. She's only looking out for my best interest. Mothers do that, you know," she hollered back.

"No, I don't know. I lost my mother when I was five, remember?" he raged in frustration.

Amanda was silent. This whole thing was getting out of hand. They shared little time together. If it wasn't the Agency getting in the way of their private life it was shuffling her time with the boys and her mother. "Maybe we should just drop the charade. At least tell my mother and Billy."

"Oh sure, no problem. I can see the conversation now. 'Dotty, it's Lee, your son-in-law. Oh didn't we mention we got married? Yeah, you remember when Amanda was shot in California last February; that was our honeymoon. She's going to spend the night at my apartment. You know, with her husband, the spy'…"

"I think we could handle it a little more tactfully than that. You don't have to be so melodramatic," she complained as she rolled her eyes.

"Amanda, I'm hosting a very important meeting in New York on Tuesday. Now would not be the best time to drop a bombshell like this on your mother, let alone Billy," he snapped back.

"I didn't mean right this minute. I just think we need to really consider it - before somebody finds out."

"Let's just drop it, OK? It's getting late, just go home," Lee snarled and moved toward the door. He was tired of the same old argument.

"Lee, don't be like this, please," she pleaded, her voice unsteady.

"Goodnight, Amanda, drive safely," he said mechanically.

She looked at him but he turned away. Without another word, she left his apartment and slammed the door. She stood outside in the hallway - shaking. She hated leaving on such a sour note, without a kiss goodbye or his warm embrace. She waited a few moments hoping he would open the door, but he didn't. Sadly, she turned and headed for the elevator.

*** *** ***

The next morning Lee was late for roll call. It didn't go unnoticed by Billy. When he did come in he sat down in his usual place next to Amanda. She smiled at him, but he turned away without any of their usual private acknowledgments.

"Scarecrow, my office - now!" Billy bellowed as the meeting adjourned. Lee headed to Billy's office, again ignoring Amanda's look of concern.

Francine couldn't help but jibe childishly, "Somebody's in trouble."

"Can it, Francine," Lee snarled as he pushed passed her and walked into Billy's office, closing the door behind him. "What did you need, Billy?"

"For one thing, I need my agents to show up on time for roll call."

"I'm sorry about that, Billy. I overslept; my alarm didn't go off."

"Try setting it, OK? You're responsible for a very important conference in New York starting tomorrow. So if there is a problem, I want to hear about it now."

"No problem, Billy, really," he answered earnestly. "I worked on the agenda last night, didn't get to sleep until late. I just overslept."

"I wanted to let you know that the Soviets have agreed to come to the meeting."

Lee looked up at Billy, wide eyed. "You're kidding me, right? I've been trying to get them to come for the last three months. They told me unequivocally 'no' just last week."

"Apparently they changed their mind. That's not a problem is it?"

"No, I'll just have to amend the agenda that I spent three hours working on last night," Lee answered shaking his head in disgust.

"Anything else on your mind?" Billy asked, sensing Lee was a bit tense.

"No, not that I can think of," he replied with a casual shrug.

"If you're sure, you're dismissed," Billy answered, not entirely believing his friend and agent.

Lee headed out of Billy's office into the bullpen.  Amanda was waiting for him.

"Are you all right?" she asked.

"I'm just fine," he snapped. He hadn't slept well because of their fight; then when he finally fell asleep, he overslept. Now, to top things off, the agenda that they had worked on until late last night had to be changed to account for the Soviets.

"Lee," she whispered. "I'm sorry about last night."

"Last night, what about last night?" he answered coolly as he walked towards the hallway.

She reached out for him, trying to stop him. "Can we please talk? I'm tired of fighting with you."

"Amanda, I'm just plain tired. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a rather important conference I'm hosting tomorrow. I've got a lot of work to do," he answered sharply, shaking her hand off his arm.

"Lee, you can't just ignore me," she argued, wanting to smooth things over before he left.

"Amanda, we'll discuss 'us' when I get back in town. Right now, I don't have the time," he replied, just a little louder than he should have and pushed past her.

She stood at the entrance to the hallway stunned by his cold brush off. She turned around to see several agents, including Francine and Billy watching with interest. Embarrassed and hurt, she quickly headed towards the elevator and slipped invisibly inside when the doors finally opened.

*** *** ***

Lee waited in his apartment that night for Amanda to call. She always called him before he went out of town. His flight left the next morning for New York; the conference started that afternoon. With his bag packed and waiting at the door he stood looking at the phone. Finally he picked it up to make sure there was dial tone. The monotonous hum advised him that his phone was working properly.

Not two seconds after he put the phone down, it rang.

He hastily grabbed the phone and blurted, "Amanda…"

"Sorry, Lee, it's just me," Billy chuckled softly. "Are you all ready to go? Alarm set?"

"Yes, Billy," Lee said in an annoyed tone. "My bag is packed and sitting by the door."

"Just wanted to make sure you didn't need a wake up call."

"Very funny," he snarled.

"You seem a little nervous, is everything all right?" Billy asked, hoping his agent would talk to him about whatever was bothering him.

"Everything is fine; quit worrying. The conference will go smoothly; I promise."

"All right, have a good trip; I'll see you Thursday night. Call if there are any problems," Billy reminded him before hanging up.

Lee hung up the phone. He wondered if in those few minutes that maybe Amanda had tried to call. He thought about calling her. He had been short with her at the office this morning. But he was tired, and frustrated… He understood putting the boys before him, but not spending the night because of her mother... He shook his head, knowing how tenacious Dotty could be and how Amanda hated all the lies. Finally he poured himself a drink and settled in on the couch. If he had to live like a bachelor he might as well enjoy it. He clicked on the TV and threw on the Monday night football game, and soon drifted off to sleep.

*** ***

Amanda looked at the phone several times that evening, but decided against calling Lee. She kept thinking about their terse conversation early in the morning in the bullpen. He was angry with her for not staying the night. In a way she understood, but he didn't have to go home in the morning and face her mother. The looks and the persistent questions were uncomfortable, but bearable. It was the endless lies that overwhelmed her. She wanted to tell her mother and Billy the truth. Let the cards fall where they may. Anything was better than continuing to live the lie…

    Part 2

Late the next afternoon, Billy was thumbing through the reports on his desk. He searched the files twice before he called out to Francine. "Have you seen Amanda today?"

"No, it's been such a pleasant day, don't you think?" Francine remarked smartly.

Billy shook his head. "I want to see her when she checks in. I need an update on the Exoscan review. The report is due in today."

"Well, she's got a couple of hours still, but I'll remind her if I see her," Francine answered before she went back to her work. However, the day passed and Amanda didn't check in.

The next morning, Billy called up to the Q bureau, but there was no response. Finally he bellowed into the bullpen, "Francine, where is Amanda? I needed the statistics on Exoscan yesterday."

"I haven't seen her, Billy," Francine said with a shrug.

"Call her house. Maybe she's sick. Just find out where she has her notes on that report," Billy snapped and then slammed his door.

A few minutes later Francine was tapping gingerly on Billy's door. He waved her in.

"According to Mrs. West, she hasn't seen Amanda since early yesterday morning. She assumed that Amanda went out of town with Lee. Could she have gone up to the conference with him?" Francine questioned.

"She better not have! She has her own, very important assignment. She knew I needed that report yesterday," Billy yelled angrily. He knew that Lee and Amanda were 'involved', but it never interfered with their work schedules. It wasn't like Amanda to leave something that critical hanging, but in the last week or so, both Lee and Amanda had been acting out of sorts. "Let me call them in New York; she's going to have quite a bit of explaining to do."

Billy left an urgent message with the front desk for Lee. With the conference in full swing, he didn't want to interrupt. He also didn't want to go to his meeting without the statistics that Amanda should have had finished yesterday.

"Go up to the Q bureau and see if she has a file up there," Billy finally said to Francine. "And make it quick. I've got thirty minutes to make it over to the Pentagon."

*** *** ***

Lee didn't get up to his room until late that night. The conference had him going nonstop, but was going well so he went out to dinner with several of the attendees. He pulled off his tie and kicked off his shoes and sat down on the bed. He saw the blinking message light on his phone and smiled thinking to himself 'Amanda must have called.'

He picked up the phone and called the front desk but was disappointed that the message was from Billy, not Amanda. He dialed the familiar number to the Agency, knowing that Billy would still be there.

"Melrose, here."

"Hi, Billy, it's Scarecrow, reporting in as requested," he teased jocularly.

"I'm so glad you're having such a good time up there. Are you getting any WORK done?" Billy snarled as he looked at his watch, noting the late hour.

Lee was surprised by Billy's angry tone. "Everything's going quite well. Even with the Russians."

"Let me talk to Amanda," Billy finally snapped.

"Amanda? Billy, she's not here," he answered honestly.

"Yeah, right," Billy mumbled under his breath, tiring of the game. "Just go get her and put her on the line, OK?"

"Billy, I'm serious. Amanda's not here with me, she's home in Arlington," Lee replied as he felt a sinking feeling in his stomach.

There was dead silence on the phone until Billy finally spoke. "Then it looks like we have a problem. Her mother was the last to see her and that was yesterday morning."

"You mean she's been missing for over 36 hours and you're just telling me now?" Lee yelled in frustration.

"We thought she was on site at Exoscan yesterday. It wasn't until this morning… never mind," Billy finally said. He knew the details weren't important. He had an agent missing who had been missing for a while and they hadn't even started an investigation. He cleared his throat and then asked. "Any ideas on where to start, Lee?"

"I'll formulate a strategy on the plane. Have someone meet me at National," Lee answered hastily as he headed over to his suitcase and began throwing his clothes inside, hastily.

"Hold on, Lee," Billy implored. "I know you're close to Amanda, but you can't leave the conference."

"Like hell I can't! Billy, she's my partner; I'm coming home to find her," he demanded.

"You know Smyth wouldn't let you head the search team anyway. You're TOO close."

"Billy, Amanda's my first priority," he argued.

"Lee, that conference is top priority; stay put and that's an order. I'll have Francine start the ball rolling here. She'll call you back and you can give her anything you can think of then," Billy ordered.

Lee swallowed hard. "Billy, I've got to help you find her; you don't understand…"

Billy cut him off.  "Lee, when that conference is over tomorrow, you're welcome to join the team, but until then your assignment is that conference. Is that clear?"

"Billy, please…" he pleaded.

"Lee, if you come back tonight, you'll force me to suspend you. I don't like it anymore than you do, but that conference is priority. I'll have a dozen agents out looking for Amanda; I promise. We'll probably find her before you get back tomorrow anyway," Billy said trying to reassure his friend.

Lee held the phone tightly. His emotions torn. He wanted to come home to look for his wife. They had parted in anger the other night and the next day instead of making up he caused a scene in the hallway. He knew the conference was crucial to national security; he was keenly aware of the fact. To walk away now and replace him could jeopardize the last two days of significant progress.

"Billy, I know this conference is important, but so is Amanda."

"The moment Smyth finds out you left that conference he'll have both of us on suspension. We can do more for Amanda with the Agency, than without it. You know that as well as I do. Stay put; I'll keep you informed."

Ultimately, he relented. He knew Billy was right. Dr. Smyth would take great pleasure in suspending him. "If you hear anything…"

"I've got your number, Lee. You'll be the first one I call. Now let me set things in motion here. It's probably just a misunderstanding," Billy suggested, but even as the words came out of his mouth, he knew it wasn't. Amanda King was punctual to a fault and faithful to deadlines. Her report was due in yesterday; Billy mentally kicked himself for not realizing earlier that there was a problem.

WEB OF LIES

Part 3

It was just before noon on Thursday when Francine pulled some information off the teletype. She read it twice before she headed into Billy's office.

"You have something?" Billy asked as he looked up.

She nodded. "Bad news, I'm afraid. They just pulled a 1985 Jeep Wagoneer out of the Potomac."

Billy winced, "Amanda's car?"

"Looks like it," she nodded.

"Where?"

"Apparently some fisherman spotted it this morning near the C & O canal at Point of Rocks."

"Did they," Billy hesitated as he swallowed hard, "find a body?"

"No, it was empty," she quickly confirmed.

"Get our boys on that car and fast. We don't have much and so far, I don't like where this is leading to."

"Have you heard from Lee?"

"Yeah, I talked to him this morning; he's pretty worried. He's booked on the five o'clock flight," he said. "We need some details, Francine."

"I'll have the lab inspect every inch of that car," she confirmed. "We'll have something in a few hours."

*** *** ***

Billy rarely watched the clock, but that afternoon his eyes stared at it every few minutes. He knew as the minutes ticked on there was less of a chance of finding his agent safe and alive. He also knew Lee would be back soon and he still had nothing but bad news to tell him. Finally he saw Francine heading towards his office, paperwork in hand.

"What do we have?" he asked impatiently.

"Nothing good I'm afraid," she conceded as she handed him the report on Amanda's car. "They found an empty bottle of wine in the car, some blood on the steering wheel…"

"Dark hair fibers, I'm sure they'll match Amanda and fingerprints. Mostly Amanda's, some were Lee's, the rest aren't on record, probably her mother and the boys. No purse or other personal effects," Billy said shaking his head as he quickly scanned over the report. "We still have nothing."

"If it was a suicide, they would have found a body, they didn't. The car was pretty much intact, other than the front end being banged up and rather soggy; it was just a few yards off the boat ramp in about three feet of water," Francine commented trying to find a bright side. "Face it, Billy, the car was dumped."

"Agreed, but if that's the case, we still don't have anything to go on," Billy grumbled.

"Maybe Lee will have some ideas, because I've run out of them. How could she have vanished without a trace?" she asked.

"Did you run all her old cases, back to 83?" he inquired.

"Yeah, but there's nothing there I tell you. Anyone whose been incarcerated is still locked up tight. A few have gotten out, but nothing in the last six months and no one has broken parole," she explained.

"We're missing something," Billy grumbled as Dr. Smyth walked in.

"You're missing the obvious, kiddies!" he croaked with glee. "I've had an agent chatting with Mrs. West and another with Mr. King. Mr. King doesn't speak highly of our Scarecrow. Says those two have been somewhat of an item over the last year, yet our boy doesn't seem ready to make any kind of commitment. Rumor has it before he left for New York, they had a bit of a tiff."

"You're not suggesting that Lee had anything to do with Amanda's disappearance?" Billy challenged.

"Kidnapping, murder, who really knows what goes on in Scarecrow's head," Dr. Smyth asserted. "Face it, Billy, his prints were all over the car. He's been around the block a few times. Maybe he got tired of domestic tranquillity and wanted back into the fast lane. Perhaps, Mrs. King was not as easy to ditch as his usual fare."

"They were partners, they used Amanda's car as often as they used his; that's why his prints were in it. If Lee wanted to get rid of Amanda King, he certainly wouldn't have dumped her car forty miles up the river. Besides, he was in New York that day," Billy advised.

"Our Scarecrow missed his nine AM flight Tuesday morning; he took the ten AM flight instead. According to Mrs. West, Mrs. King left her house just after seven that morning. That leaves plenty of time for Scarecrow to set up his partner," he suggested.

"With all due respect, sir, and as much as I hate to admit it, Lee Stetson cares very deeply for Amanda King," Francine defended. "He would never do anything to hurt her, let alone abduct her."

Dr. Smyth looked at his watch. "Scarecrow's flight should be landing any moment now. He'll have quite an impressive entourage waiting for him. I've signed the paperwork for him to be questioned. Neither this Agency, nor I, will be made fool of," Dr. Smyth railed, turned quickly and walked out of the office.

Billy and Francine were stunned.

"Whose jurisdiction is this investigation?" Francine finally asked.

"That's half the problem; it's multi-jurisdictional. If she was abducted it would have been in either DC or Virginia. Her car was found in Maryland, but she's a federal agent so that brings in the FBI."

"So who is meeting Lee at the airport?"

"My guess - FBI. Dr. Smyth wouldn't let Metro police or the Virginia State police step on his toes. If Lee comes in here, with you running the investigation of Amanda's disappearance, Smyth could be accused of favoritism," Billy surmised. "I'll call in some favors over there. I want Lee's insight on this case. I don't believe for one second that he's involved in this anyway. Locking him up isn't going to help us find Amanda."

*** *** ***

Later that evening Billy headed down to the FBI building. After talking with his colleagues there, he was granted a brief visit with Lee who had been questioned extensively, but hadn't been charged.

Lee looked up as Billy came into the small room he was being held in. Lee looked exhausted, with dark bags under his eyes. He asked in a hoarse voice, "Please tell me you don't believe I'm involved in this."

Billy shook his head. "No, I have no doubt of your innocence. However, Amanda's ex-husband seems to have a different opinion. He convinced Dr. Smyth that your intentions are less than honorable."

"Well isn't that just great! The son of a bitch didn't give a damn about her when he was married to her, but now all of a sudden he's an expert and Smyth listened to him?" Lee barked angrily.

"Of course your little discussion in the bullpen on Monday didn't help my case much either. You two haven't been the chummiest as of late," he reminded.

"Billy, Amanda and I argue all the time. That doesn't mean I'm going to kidnap her," he answered emphatically. Then his tone changed, it was sad and full of pain. "What have you heard?"

"You know they found her car?" Billy asked, assuming that it had come up during the FBI's questioning.

"Yeah, in the Potomac with my fingerprints all over it," Lee confirmed, as he shook his head in dismay. "Billy, I'm in Amanda's car as often as I'm in mine."

"I know, Lee. I'm not the one you need to convince. It's just that other than the car, we have nothing. They don't have enough to charge you; they'll have to let you go tomorrow."

"Billy, Amanda might not have that much time. It's already been three days. I need to work my contacts, somebody on the street must have heard something, anything. But I can't do that locked up in this damn hole!" Lee yelled as he slammed his hand on the metal desk he was sitting behind. He got up, shoving the desk away from him.

"Calm down, Lee," Billy urged. "We need to think clearly and rationally if we're going to find her. Letting your temper get the best of you isn't going to do a damn thing."

"That's easy for you to say. You can walk out that door. My partner is missing, and I can't do a damn thing about it!" he protested. "Get me out of here so I can look for her."

"I'm doing what I can. Any friends or family she might have gone to see? Someone that perhaps her family doesn't know about."

"Not that I can think of and certainly not without her car. Have you checked activity on her credit cards?"

Billy nodded morosely. "Yeah, nothing."

Just then the guard opened the door. "Time's up."

"Billy, you've got to get me out of here," Lee pleaded yet again.

"Lee, I'm working every angle I can. If you can come up with something - anything let me know. I'll see what I can do."

Web of Lies

Part 4

Francine was sifting through a half dozen reports from agents who had followed up on what had turned out to be dead ends. She listened as the teletype machine cranked the morning arrest report out. With little interest, she went over and pulled the information out of the printer and headed back to her desk. Her eyes scanned down the long list of names until one caught her eye.

She made a quick phone call, then got up and waited by the fax. She paced in front of it. Then tapped her fingers on the top of it. When she thought it would never show up, the fax machine finally rang and clicked on. She waited while the two-page report printed out. Then reading it ever so carefully she proceeded to Billy's office.

"You're smiling," he noted. "Please tell me you have some good news."

"I've got something that is just too much of a coincidence to be just that. Sonya Chenko's name came up on the teletype. She was arrested this morning by Loudoun County police in Virginia."

"Sonya Chenko's in the country? When did that happen and why was she arrested?" Billy quickly asked.

"Assault on a police officer according to the arrest report. The police wanted to search her house; something about a sign saying 'Send Help' in the upstairs window. She refused and they didn't have a warrant, but then she allegedly pushed the officer…."

"I want a search warrant for that house; I want to talk to the arresting officer and I want to see Sonya," Billy rattled off quickly.

"What about Lee?"

"I'll swing by the FBI. With what we have, I think I can pressure them into letting him go. I think you're right about this being too coincidental. The FBI's got nothing and they know it. It's time we find out some real answers."

*** ***

The door opened to Lee's holding cell; one of the agents came in. "You're free to go, Scarecrow."

"It's about time you came to your senses," Lee hissed as he pushed on by. He took two steps into the hallway and saw Billy. "Good to see you again, Billy."

"Let's get out of here, Scarecrow, we've got some work to do," he replied formally as he turned and headed towards the door.

Lee quickly caught up to his boss. "You've got something, what is it?"

"We're going to question an old friend of yours," he answered.

"An old friend of mine?" Lee asked curiously. "Who?"

"Does the name, Sonya Chenko ring any bells?"

"Sonya Chenko, as in Alexi Markarov's granddaughter?"

"Do you know more than one?" Billy asked as he got into his car.

"When did she get back into the country? She was recalled to the Soviet Union after we arrested Alexi," Lee remembered.

"Don't know," Billy replied with a curt shrug. "That's just one of the questions I plan to ask her."

Lee sat in the car as Billy drove down into Virginia and headed west. "Where are we going?"

"Loudoun County jail," he answered. "She was arrested earlier this morning for assaulting a police officer who wanted to search her house. Something about a note in an upstairs window saying - 'Send Help'. She refused to allow the officer to search the house, but allegedly a shoving match ensued…"

"She's got Amanda! Can't this car move any faster?" Lee urged impatiently.

***

After a short wait, Sonya was brought into the interrogation room where Billy and Lee waited.

"Where is she?" Lee barked at Sonya before the door was closed.

Sonya looked at Lee, then at Billy and smiled cunningly. "Who are you talking about, Scarecrow?"

"You know damn well who I'm talking about. Now where is she?" he repeated harshly.

She calmly walked across the room and sat down in a chair.

"Sonya, we'll have a search warrant within the hour, so you might as well come clean," Billy urged in a much calmer tone. "We're going to find her."

She looked over at Billy and calmly replied. "I'm really sorry. I don't know whom you're talking about."

"Amanda, where is Amanda," Lee yelled.

Sonya snickered, then laughed loudly. "Mrs. Stetson is missing? Some spy you turned out to be; can't even find your own wife."

Billy looked at Lee with astonishment, but Lee was not amused by Sonya's outburst.

"Sonya, I think you're way over your head. Your grandfather isn't going to take all the heat; not this time," Lee bellowed.

"Enough, Scarecrow. We're obviously wasting our time," Billy said as he headed to the door, pounding on it for the guard to come. Moments later the door opened and Billy headed out. Lee looked at Sonya with contempt.

"If you've done anything to hurt her, and I mean anything, my business with you has yet to begin," Lee said with scorn.

"Scarecrow, now," Billy yelled from the hallway.

Lee headed after Billy. He was overwhelmed with concern about his wife. Sonya seemed terribly calm, confident - too confident.

As they walked out the door of the police station, Billy turned to Lee, noticeably upset. "Would you like to explain that crack about Mrs. Stetson?"

Lee looked down at the pavement and ran his hand nervously through his hair. He didn't know what to say. This was not the way he wanted Billy to find out about their marriage. What could he say?

"It's true; Amanda and I were married last February," he answered humbly, not wanting to compound the lie. This was not the time. He'd deal with the consequences later, after he safely found his wife.

"And my invitation was lost in the mail?" Billy asked harshly. "Lee, I thought we were friends. Why would you keep something this important a secret from me for so long? What were you thinking?"

"I guess I haven't been thinking," Lee said with regret. "I wanted to protect her and the family from being targets. A fine job I've done, wouldn't you say?"

Billy put his arm on Lee's back. "We can talk about this later, and trust me, we will. But right now, I think we have more important things to do. For starters, we need to find your wife."

Lee shook his head in agreement as Billy started walking briskly towards his car. Without another word, he followed.

*** *** ***

They arrived at Sonya's townhouse a few minutes later. Francine was waiting for them with search warrant in hand.

"I've only been here a few minutes. I haven't seen anyone, but on the back upstairs window there's a hand written message, 'Send Help' in big red letters," Francine explained to Billy.

"Is everything in order?" he asked, nodding towards the search warrant.

"Every 'T' is crossed and 'i' dotted," Francine said formally.

"So what are we waiting for?" Lee asked as he hurried up the front walk and banged heavily on the front door. He barely waited for an answer before he broke out his lock pick and had the door open.

"I see you haven't lost you touch," Francine wisecracked as they headed into the three story townhouse. It was tastefully decorated and neat as a pin, not a thing out of place.

"OK, let's each take a level. I'll search this floor, Francine, take the middle level, and Scarecrow, you take the top floor," Billy ordered calmly.

"You got it," Lee answered as he quickly bounded up the two flights of stairs to the top floor. He immediately headed for the back of the house, where the message had been written on the window.

He pulled up the shade in what was the bathroom. The message was still on the top pane, scrawled haphazardly in red lipstick. On the sill, there were bits of the lipstick that had broken off. Lee picked up a piece and absentmindedly rolled it with his fingers, wondering if this was indeed Amanda's lipstick.

He headed into the master bedroom. Again, everything was neat and tidy. Nothing out of place to suggest that Sonya might have held Amanda captive here for the last few days. Their only clue was the note in the window. He shook his head in frustration as he headed for the closet door. He flicked the light on and opened the door.

"Oh, God!" he moaned loudly as he stood at the entrance.

Francine heard his voice and came running. "Did you find her?"

He whispered softly, unable to move. "She was here. We're too late."

Francine, in a panic, pushed him away and looked into the walk-in closet. There were no clothes. Just a small cot tucked in a corner with a thin blanket folded neatly at the foot. A tiny white pillow sat at the head of the cot with Amanda's purse sitting on it. Other than that, the room was empty.

Billy finally reached the third level, breathing heavily. Lee stood immobile and didn't even look at his boss. Francine turned to him and assessed the situation.

"Looks like Sonya moved Amanda before we got here," she advised.

Billy looked in and saw the cot and the purse. "Lee, is that Amanda's?"

He merely nodded.

"Lee," Billy said shaking him roughly. "Snap out of it. We'll find her. Check her purse; knowing Amanda, she would try to leave a note."

Lee nodded, still mute. He sat down on the cot and opened her purse. He searched through it, but there was no note. Her wallet with money and credit cards had been left untouched. A hairbrush, a compact, some make-up, a nail file and a bottle of aspirin made up the contents of her purse. He threw it onto the floor in exasperation.

"Damn it!" he yelled. "If the FBI hadn't held me last night we might have found her."

"Lee, our first clue came when Sonya was arrested this morning," Francine reminded him gently, trying to soothe her friend's frazzled nerves.

Billy looked over at Lee; he looked like he was about to lose it emotionally. "Francine, let's finish checking the other floors. If Amanda was here, she'd find a way to tell us what's going on. We can't be that far behind her, otherwise Sonya wouldn't have blown her cool like that this morning."

Francine nodded and headed back downstairs leaving the two men alone.

"Lee, pull yourself together. You need to be looking for an agent right now, not your wife. Separate your personal life from your professional one. I know you can do it. I meant what I said before. Amanda would have found a way to tell us what's going on. You're my best agent, so start acting like it," Billy lectured just sternly enough to get his agent to refocus.

Lee nodded at Billy. "Just give me a moment, OK?"

"Sure, Lee, I understand," he answered with a nod of his head.

Lee looked at the pillow. He noticed a strand of dark hair laying on it. He picked it up carefully, like it was a special prize then tucked it into his pocket as if for luck. He picked up the pillow, holding it close to his face to try to smell the fragrance of his wife. But the flowery scent that usually graced her pillow was missing. He put the pillow down and in frustration pushed the blanket off the cot.

He blinked. He tried to focus his eyes behind the watery tears that he refused to allow to fall. It took a few moments before he could. Then the letters carefully concealed under the blanket formed words. Written crudely, with what looked like mascara, on the bed sheets was a message from Amanda. 'SHIPPED TO MOSCOW - VIA DULLES'.

"Billy," Lee yelled with newfound inner strength. "Call the airport…"

Moments later Lee was driving Billy's car furiously. Dulles Airport was only a few miles away. He knew all too well if the flight had already taken off, it would be difficult, if not impossible to get them turned around. As he maneuvered the car on the crowded roadway, Billy was talking with the control tower. He confirmed that there was a flight leaving for Moscow, currently sixth in position for takeoff.

"I don't care what you do, or how you do it," he demanded sharply. "Get that plane off the runway now. If that plane takes off, you'll be the newest air traffic controller in Fairbanks, Alaska by sundown!"

"Yes, sir," the controller answered abruptly.

Lee looked over at Billy. "We're almost there. What airlines?"

"Aeroflot, of course," Billy answered.

"They couldn't fly United," Lee answered sourly.

"If they haven't taken off yet, they'll have to let us board," Billy replied as Lee pulled up to the terminal.

"Damn right, they will," he answered as he was out the door and running into the terminal. Billy tried to keep up with Lee's frantic pace.

Lee paced the hallway outside of Amanda's room nervously.

"Lee, she's going to be OK. She was drugged. You don't think she'd get into that crate willingly now do you?" Billy reminded him for the tenth time.

"Of course not, but what's taking so long then?" Lee asked mid-stride.

"You know Dr. McJohn; he's thorough. He'll run every test in the book."

"I just want to be with her," Lee complained.

A door opened down the hall. Lee turned quickly, but it was Francine. "How's she doing?" she asked as she joined the two men.

"She's going to be fine, I'm sure," Billy answered quickly looking over at Lee hoping it would reassure him. "What did you find at the airport?"

Francine smiled broadly. "Went over the passenger list on the plane and found an interesting name. We arrested an 'Alexis Markarov' as an accomplice."

"Wait a minute, Francine, Markarov is in prison," Lee argued.

"Actually, the Alexi Markarov you know, died last month of a heart attack in prison. We've arrested - Alexis Markarov. Seems like a tight knit family, another granddaughter," she informed him.

Lee ran his hand through his hair and yelled. "Will this family ever stop their personal vendetta?"

"Lee, I think we ended it today; Amanda's safe and we've got all the players now," Billy reminded.

Just then the door to Amanda's room opened and Dr. McJohn came out.

"How is she Doc?" Lee asked before he could say a word.

"She'll be fine in a few days. She's ingested enough Rohypnol to keep her quiet for a long flight," Dr. McJohn began.

"The date rape drug?" Lee asked.

"That's one of its many nicknames," the doctor concurred. "Tasteless, odorless drug; an excellent choice given the circumstances. They used it to immobilize her, no doubt. Made it easier for them to get her into the crate and onto that plane."

"Can I see her?" Lee asked.

"She's still out. Best thing is to let her sleep it off. She could be kind of nauseated when she wakes up."

"When can we do a debriefing?" Billy asked.

"Probably won't remember anything since she ingested the Rohypnol. It's known for its amnesia properties," the doctor explained. "Give her until tomorrow at least, maybe the day after. I'm going to keep her overnight for observation. She'll probably sleep for most of it. I'll have the rest of her blood results by mid-day. I'll send you a complete report."

"So I can see her?" Lee repeated, impatiently.

Dr. McJohn nodded his consent. "Go ahead, Scarecrow."

Without another word, Lee pulled on the door to Amanda's room and slipped silently inside.

Several hours later, Billy came into the room. Lee was sitting in a chair only a foot away from Amanda. He held her hand in his, gently stroking it.

"How is she?" he whispered.

"She's still out," Lee answered dismally.

"Have you been here all day?"

Lee nodded.

"Lee, you should go home, get some sleep. The Doc said she'd probably sleep most of the night," Billy lectured.

"I don't want her to wake up alone. God knows what she's been through," Lee whispered to him.

"I called Mrs. West earlier today," he advised.

Lee looked up at Billy. "Thanks, Billy, the thought hadn't even crossed my mind. What did you tell her?"

"I stretched the truth a bit. I told her that we'd located Amanda, that she'd been mugged and hit her head, had a slight case of amnesia…."

Lee shook his head. "More lies. You know how Amanda hates to lie."

"Yeah, that thought crossed my mind too," Billy nodded.

"It all started so simply. Now it's such a web of lies," Lee mumbled in reproach.

"When did you eat last?" Billy questioned, trying to change the subject.

"This morning, I guess," he mumbled.

"Go get yourself something to eat. I'll sit with her until you get back."

"I don't know, Billy."

"Scarecrow, that wasn't a suggestion, that was an order. Now go get yourself a sandwich or something. I've got one agent down, I don't need two."

"You'll stay with her until I get back?" Lee reiterated.

"I said I would, now go."

Lee reluctantly stood up, and hesitantly released his hand from hers. He took another look at Amanda laying silently on the bed then looked back at Billy.

"A sandwich, Scarecrow - now!" Billy advised as he saw the wavering look on Lee's face.

"Thanks, Billy."

Billy smiled and watched as Lee left the room, the door closing silently behind him. He looked as Amanda's thin frame lay still on the bed. He sighed, relieved at the outcome of a case that started out with little hope of finding his agent alive.

"Amanda King, I knew the first day I met you that you were someone very special. But I would have never imagined that even you could capture Lee Stetson's heart so completely."

Billy got up and paced the room. He was happy that Lee had found Amanda. He had watched as their relationship had grown from strangers to friends and partners; and finally what he was sure was an intimate relationship. He knew that Amanda was more to Lee than a casual lover, but he would have never guessed that they had married.

Billy glanced over at the bed. Amanda was beginning to stir. He sat back down and called to her softly. "Amanda, can you hear me?"

Her eyes began to flutter, but as she opened them, the room spun on her and she closed them quickly.

"You're all right, Amanda," Billy reassured.

She again opened her eyes and gave them a few moments to focus. As the blurring subsided the room stopped spinning.

"Where, where am I?" she mumbled.

"You're at the Agency clinic," Billy reassured her as he patted the hand that Lee had held only a few minutes ago.

"I feel funny, my head…" she answered nervously.

"It's to be expected, Amanda. You were drugged, it's still in your system," Billy said trying to keep her calm.

Amanda was still trying to put things in order. She was trying to remember what or where she was last. She rubbed her forehead with her hand as if trying to get some clarity on the situation. "Sonya…" she mumbled as pieces of the last few days jumbled in her head.

"She's in custody, as is her cousin, Alexis," Billy advised. "It's over. Just rest. We'll debrief you tomorrow when you're feeling better."

"Debrief…" she muttered as her mind drifted.

"Tomorrow, Amanda. Just relax," Billy reassured her.

Amanda nodded. Her drug-laded mind was a mix of half-truths and lies. Where was Lee? Were the things Sonya said about him true? "Tomorrow," she mumbled as she settled back down and drifted off.

A few minutes later Lee came back into the room.

"Any changes?" he asked immediately.

"She was awake for a few minutes. We chatted briefly before she fell back to sleep," Billy explained as he got out of the chair and relinquished it back to Lee.

"I should have been here," Lee reasoned, wishing now that he hadn't stepped away to eat.

"Relax, Lee. I'm not sure she'll remember much of our conversation anyway. She was pretty out of it. I still think you should go home for the night. When was the last time you had a good night sleep?"

"It's been a while; Tuesday, I guess. But it doesn't matter; I'm spending the night here, with my wife. It's a habit that I just might like getting used to," Lee harangued.

"Try to get some sleep, Scarecrow," Billy said, knowing that there would be no use trying to talk Lee out of staying. "We'll debrief her, when she wakes up in the morning."

Lee acknowledged Billy statement with a fleeting nod but hardly noticed as Billy quietly exited the room; his focus was on his wife, as his hand quickly entwined with hers, yet again…

Part 6

Early the next morning, Billy came in with the stenographer for the debriefing just as Amanda was finishing her breakfast.

"Good morning, Amanda," he greeted.

"Morning, sir," Amanda answered with little enthusiasm.

"Lee, I think you need to head home and change. We can talk later." Billy said to Lee and smiled at Amanda. This was Billy's polite way of telling Lee to leave for the debriefing.

Lee looked over at Amanda hoping she would ask him to stay, but she remained silent - stoically silent. She had barely spoken to him since she woke up. The conversation had been considerably one-sided, with Lee doing most of the talking and Amanda uncharacteristically answering in one-word sentences. She distracted herself with her breakfast when Lee would ask her a direct question; she merely nodded or shrugged as an answer.

"I'll see you later, then," Lee said as he reluctantly moved towards the door.

She nodded and gave him a polite smile then turned away, feigning interest in her half eaten breakfast. Disheartened, Lee pushed the door open and slipped out of the room.

He headed home. He needed a shower and a change of clothes. He surmised the debriefing would take several hours; he could easily be back to the Agency in less than two.

Later that morning he returned to the Agency and went up to the Q bureau to catch up on his mail and other reports. He would check on how the debriefing was going in an hour. Maybe with a little luck, he could slip Amanda out of the office at lunchtime for some much-needed private time.

As he reached the top of the stairs, he noticed the door to the Q bureau was ajar. He was slightly concerned. Other than himself, Amanda and Billy were the only ones to have keys.

"Aman…" Lee started to ask as he pushed open the door. "Billy? What are you doing here?"

"The debriefing is over - for now!" Billy answered harshly.

Lee looked confused. Amanda had been missing for several days. Surely a full debriefing would take most of the morning if not most of the day.

"Over? Already?" Then suddenly he looked at Billy in distress. "Is she all right?"

"Lee, if it wasn't for the information we already had on the kidnapping we'd have to let Sonya go. Amanda's keeping everything tight as a lid - inside her."

"I don't understand, Billy. Why wouldn't she want to nail Sonya?" Lee shook his head, not comprehending what was going on.

"I've sent her home. I thought maybe a little bit of time and some more comfortable surroundings would help her out. I talked to Pfaff as well. He thinks it could be the 'Stockholm Syndrome'. I'll send Amanda down to talk to him tomorrow. Maybe then we can get to the bottom of this and find out what really happened those four days," Billy sighed with concern.

"The Stockholm Syndrome?"

"It's been known to happen - a hostage feels sympathetic to their captors. Not usually with trained agents, but…"

"Why don't we just use some of Pfaffs serums to loosen up Sonya's tongue? Then we wouldn't have to worry about Amanda's debriefing," Lee answered in angrily.

"Lee, we need Amanda's testimony. Without it, it will be a difficult case. With it, we can put Sonya and her cousin away for a long time and end this vendetta they seem to have for you two."

"Let me go talk to her," he nodded as he reached into his pocket and grabbed his car keys. He wanted this case behind him as much as Billy did.

"I was hoping you'd volunteer. If anyone can get through to her, it will be you," Billy answered with a relieved sigh as he headed for the door. "Keep me informed."

*** *** ***

Lee drove over to Amanda's house. As he peeked into the window he didn't see Dotty or the boys. He slipped in the back door and called softly to her. But there was no answer. He climbed the stairs and pushed the door to her room open. She lay quietly on her bed, holding a pillow to her protectively.

"Amanda," he called out to her in concern, "are you all right?"

She looked up, startled by the intrusion. She quickly sat up on her bed.

"What are you doing here?" she asked accusingly.

"It's OK, Amanda," he reassured as he sat down next to her. "I was worried about you. I came as soon as Billy told me he stopped the debriefing. He's worried about you, too…"

"No," she interrupted. "He's angry with me."

"More like confused," Lee consoled as he reached out to stroke her face. She pulled away. "Obviously you need more time to deal with what happened."

"I don't think that's going to change things," she replied. "Sonya did the things she did for her grandfather. She wanted him to be remembered as she thought of him, a hero, for the good he did for his country…"

Lee shook his head. "What Sonya did was wrong."

"Her grandfather died in an American prison because of you and me," she reminded, her conscience weighing heavily upon her.

"You're wrong, Amanda. Alexi died because of his own selfish actions; he came after us in revenge. If he had been sent back to the Soviet Union, he would have been sent back to Siberia. Do you really think he would have survived there as long as he lived here, in a cushy American prison, with a heart condition?" Lee suggested, knowing the Soviet prison system was much harsher than the US.

"She did it for family, in the name of her grandfather. I can understand that," she defended, staunchly.

"You're losing sight of the true facts here. She kidnapped you, and was sending you to the Soviet Union. What do you think was going to happen after the KGB were done with you?" Lee questioned and waited silently for an answer.

Amanda merely shrugged.

"Does the word 'Siberia' come to mind?" Lee asked in exasperation, trying to snap her back to reality.

"They would have arranged a trade; we both know it happens all the time," she suggested as she got up off the bed.

"Maybe," he conceded, with a shrug. "If we had somebody to trade you for. I certainly wouldn't have bet your life on it though. What would you have me tell Phillip and Jamie if things hadn't worked out?"

She looked at him with terror filled eyes. That seemed to have struck a nerve with her and sent a shiver down her spine.

His words had finally broken through her shield of armor. Lee got up off the bed and crossed the room and put his hands on her arms. "It's OK," he whispered to her.

She leaned into him for support. The harsh reality of what could have happened to her, suddenly overwhelmed her and she collapsed into his arms.

Part 7 (Conclusion)

"You did really well, Amanda," Billy encouraged as they sat in his office after the debriefing.

"Thank you, sir. I'm glad to have it behind me and have all those drugs finally out of my system," she answered. "I couldn't think straight."

"I know. I should have waited for Dr. McJohn to give the all clear before we started the first debriefing," Billy said apologetically.

"You didn't know all they had given me. I had assumed that they were drugging me. I didn't feel like myself," she confessed.

"Despite everything, you managed to get attention drawn to that townhouse and leave a message for us once we got there. I'm very proud of you," he boasted then leaned forward on his desk. "You know, Amanda, once the reports are official, it won't take long for the news that you and Lee are married to spread around here."

"Yes, sir, I know," she concurred.

As if on cue, Lee knocked on the door. Billy waved him in.

"You wanted to see me, Billy?"

"Yeah, Lee, have a seat," he motioned as Lee settled in next to Amanda.

Their hands quickly reached out for each other's and they shared a smile of relief. Lee winked at Amanda and squeezed her hand for support.

"Everything all right?" he queried, looking first at Amanda then over to Billy.

"Relax, Lee. The debriefing went better than planned. With Amanda's testimony we will easily be able to convict Sonya and her cousin Alexis," Billy answered. "But with this case, the truth will surface about your real relationship as husband and wife. It will spread around here like wild fire."

"I know, Billy. I appreciate you keeping it quiet as long as you have," he answered. "What does the Agency plan on doing about it?"

"The Agency officially plans to keep out of it as long as it doesn't interfere with your work. We'll reserve the right to split you up if we feel it's necessary. Is that clear?"

"Yes, sir," they chimed together with a grin of relief washing over their faces.

"Being married in this business is difficult at best. Being married to your partner brings on a host of problems, as I'm sure you both have considered. But a good marriage can provide you with happiness beyond any words that I can describe. I sincerely hope that you two give this marriage the time and attention that it deserves," Billy lectured solemnly as he looked at his two agents.

"Billy, trust me, there is nothing more important on either of our minds," Lee answered as he helped Amanda to her feet.

"Go on then, get out of here," Billy teased. "I've taken you off roll call for the next two days. Perhaps that will give you two some time to work out the details."

*** *** ***

When they arrived at Lee's apartment Amanda headed straight for his bedroom.

"Do you have a screwdriver?" she called to Lee who wasn't even in the room yet as she tinkered with his alarm clock.

"Yeah, just a minute," he answered with an unknowing shrug. Moments later he came into his bedroom with it. "What are you doing?"

"I wasn't sure if this was something real or imagined. They put this device," she paused as she pried a small metal piece off of his alarm clock. Holding it up between her fingers she continued, "on your alarm clock. That's why you kept waking up late. I overhead them talking about this."

"I'm glad you've got good hearing," Lee answered, upset that his apartment had been intruded upon.

"I think she wanted me to hear some of the things she said," Amanda whispered uncomfortably.

"What else did you overhear in that closet?" he asked with concern as he sat down next to her on the bed.

"Nothing really important," she answered as she turned away from him and tried to regain her composure.

He put his arm around her shoulder and repeated the question. "What else did she say?"

Amanda pulled away from him. "She was just playing mind games; she wanted to hurt me, to drive a wedge between us."

"Apparently she succeeded," he replied looking at Amanda sitting on the edge of the bed. "Maybe I should just read the debriefing; would that be easier for you?"

She shook her head slowly, looking down at the floor. "No, that part is not in the debriefing."

"Amanda, talk to me. Don't let her come between us. I've got nothing to hide; you know that," Lee appealed as he lifted her chin with his finger.

Tears were forming in her eyes. She swallowed hard. The words came out slowly, scarcely audible. "She said that you two were… lovers; that you had been since Stemwinder. She said all she had to do was call my house and hang up and you would leave and meet her…"

Lee looked at Amanda, dumbfounded. It took a minute for everything she said to sink in. Finally he answered. "I must admit, Sonya is more clever than I thought. The alarm clock, the hang ups - just enough to make people start wondering… Amanda, just think about it, when Sonya and I were together during Stemwinder, you were listening in to every minute. I never slept with her then and I'm certainly not sleeping with her now. Secondly, you called it right that night in my apartment. The hang-ups were coming from a girl playing games, only Phillip wasn't the target - I was."

"I know," she mumbled with uncertainty, still thinking back to her four days in captivity and the myriad of lies she heard through those walls.

From the look on Amanda's face Lee knew that wasn't the only thing Sonya had planted in her mind so he pressed on. "What else did she say?"

Amanda sat quiet for a few moments not sure she could share what was on her mind, but eventually reason took hold. She wouldn't let Sonya come between them; she needed everything out in the open. "She said that you helped arrange for my kidnapping. That you wanted me out of the way; that you were tired of me…"

Lee took Amanda's hands into his, holding them tightly. "The only thing I'm tired of is the 'mystery' part of our marriage. I'd like it to be a real marriage where we wake up together every morning. I could never tire of you; I love you more now than the day we were married."

He looked into Amanda eyes, but still saw the clouds of doubt. "When Billy called me in New York and we realized you were missing, I was frantic. He had to threaten me with suspension to keep me up there. As it was, I spent every free moment on the phone with him getting more frustrated because they couldn't find you. I feared the worst. I thought I'd never see you again to tell you how much I love you."

A small smile began to shine on her face. Deep in her heart she knew what Sonya had said had been lies, but she needed to hear it from Lee. She could tell by the look in his eyes that he meant every last word. "At times, I thought I'd never see you or the boys again either. I love you so much, Lee."

He pulled her into a warm embrace, relishing in her warmth and closeness. His hands slowly traced the outline of her blouse until he reached her delicate soft skin. He whispered huskily, "I love you, Amanda Stetson, and there is nothing or no one in this world that can change that."

She snuggled in his protective arms, savoring the familiar smell of his after-shave and was comforted by the rhythmic beating of his heart. She lingered there for several minutes before finally extracting herself from him. She looked up into his loving eyes. "So what are we going to do now?"

"You know, I've been thinking about that a lot lately," he answered with a confident smile. "I think we should let your family in on our little secret. The Russians obviously know we're married, the Agency knows we're married, so the only people left that matter are the boys and your mother," he answered.

"And your Uncle," she added.

Lee rolled his eyes. "Yeah, him too."

"Mother and the boys are going to be pretty upset when they realize that we lied about our marriage," Amanda admitted ashamedly.

"I know, I've been worried about that, too. I'm finally getting close to Jamie and now this might blow our relationship right out of the water. Back to square one…" Lee sighed in frustration.

"Well, we could have a very small wedding with just immediate family and a few close friends. What's one more white lie on the web of lies we've already told?" she asked candidly.

"Sounds wonderful; how does next Saturday sound?" Lee asked with a dreamy grin.

"Sounds impossible," she answered with a look of disbelief on her face. "You probably won't be able to get the Colonel here by then?"

"I'm not marrying the Colonel, I'm marrying you," he argued.

She laughed. "My mother will be furious at us both; she won't have time to plan a big wedding."

"She'll be even more furious if she finds out we're already married," he quickly pointed out.

"Let's hope that stays one of our secrets," Amanda said with a grin.

Lee nodded, "I think we'll always have a few secrets to keep."

Amanda smiled and playfully tickled Lee. "Like where you're ticklish, Mr. Stetson?"

He jumped slightly, then his lips quickly captured hers and in one smooth motion he pinned her to the bed and began tickling her. "And maybe where you're ticklish, Mrs. Stetson?"

Amanda gasped between the bouts of laughter. "That definitely goes on the list as well."

"I think it's going to be a very long list…" Lee mumbled as he stopped tickling his wife and turned his attentions to more intimate matters. The wedding announcement and plans could wait until later, the next few hours were reserved just for them…

The end…
