3. I prefer Cullen to Cummings. Cummings makes a good angry Monty, but Cullen makes a good sensitive monty.

1. Given that I reeeeeeeally don't feel like waiting for it to arrive on my doorstep, I'll likely buy it at the Hastings across the street from work during one of my breaks. So much for sleep that night :)
2. I would buy it at a store, but none of the stores around here even had the Chip n' Dale classic video so I figure to just pre-order it from Amazon.
3. I'll preorder it the instant it's available in my region. I don't think my DVD player is region-free.
4. As I said on the board, I've already got my campsite in front of Wal-Mart's video dept. picked out *snerk*
5. I'll likely get it a while after it comes out. My family doesn't order anything online, and I always feel a bit embarrassed buying cartoons.

1. I'd say she'd continued commiting crimes, but Monty would do his very best to turn her straight (not suceeding, mind you)... which, unfortunately, wasn't a choice ("He'd make her go straight" was the closest, but deffinetely not fitting)
2. He'd make her go straight. Because I want to be optimistic.
3. Des would probably have tried to hide her criminal life from Monty post-nuptials, as she apparently did before. But eventually she'd slip up and Monty would find her out.
4. He'd have ended up off the NYC coast anyway, but on the run from Des. Des would be peeved that he had been using the Paris Theives Guild to amass cheese on her authority. Leaving her in hock and him drydocked.
5. I think it more like Monty would have been totally ignorant because of his great heart, and just might because of his famous cheese attack. When he begins to ask questions or suspect, all she has to do is to smoothly kiss him and give him a piece of the oh so delicious cheeeeesssseeee!

Comments:
1. This was a pretty tough call. I have Chip's sense of adventure, Dale's sense of imagination, and Monterey Jack's physique (unfortunately), but in terms of personality, Gadget wins. I'm also pretty bright, easily bored, and socially awkward. :-)
2. Well, I'm blonde and have a decent figure, so I had to pick Gadget. Of course, I'm also usually oblivious to flirtation, have a fairly high IQ (I promise!), and I'm just a little ADD.
3. I read detective fiction, own a fedora and jacket, and am a bit of a control freak
4. Sometimes I wonder if I was a chipmunk in my past life...especially a Hawaiian shirt-wearing one.
5. Despite my male-ness, I'd say Gadget. the high IQ, the love of tinkering with various devices (i.e. my comp, my car, etc), the early fixation on science and technology . . . the relative sanity and rationality. . . Though there was that bunsen burner incident in chemestry . . .
6. I'd _like_ to be like Gadget (I am fascinated by tech and always coming up with strange ideas), but I suspect that Dale is my match, the media fan and somewhat lazy, but capable of good stuff when I decide something needs to be done.
7. Nimnul! Anyone interrupting my off-off-rack research will be destroyed by flying typewriters!
8. Lessee... I'm a goofball, most people think I'm nuts, and I'm a Foxyphile. Any questions?
9. Hmmm, Gadget, High IQ and always messing around with some sort of plane or RC Jet... I have an obsession with anything that flies OK!? *Goes off to draw another jet fighter that will never be built =(*

5. While I don't normally go out of my way to support the little man, I'll make an exception in this case. I voted Nimnul. I hope he doesn't realize I'm making jokes about his height.
6. Nimnul was a fascinating character to watch, and his nutty science schemes were the perfect foil for Gadget's high-IQ crimefighting style. Plus, you just gotta love the way Jim Cummings voiced the character!
7. Yes, Nimnul the Nutball. The episodes containing him are some of my favourites. He may be completely insane, but he creates such wonderful toys for the Rangers to demolish.

Comments:
1. Never thought much of Gadget in the first place. She's there. I much prefer Chip.
2. I tend to like people (or charactors) with high intelligence. Lack of Gadget would leave that role apon Chip, and inferrel would have the RR's, group and deeds, fronting as a date attraction for the female guest stars. As it was they still ended up with Desserey, Tammy, Queenie, etc.
3. Yeah, I know... 'Rangers fan' is supposed to = 'Gadget fan'. Look, she's a fun character and all, but she's just another member of the team as far as I'm concerned. Truth be told, I watch the show for the 'munks.
4. I watch the show for Monty, really. He's cool.
5. It's all about the Gadget.
6. Of course I would. I joined because of Foxglove!
7. I started watching show because I liked Chip, but if Gadget hadn't been around I don't know if I'd have become a real fan of the show. Hard to know without rewinding the clock.
8. As someone who does not consider himself a Gadgetphile, and did not watch the show for a "Gadget fix"... I stil don't think I would. Gadget was a source of some great comedy, memorable lines, and was a real intergal part of the team chemistry. Maybe the remaining Rangers could have still fought crime without her, but I'm not so sure the show could have worked.
9. I'd have watched the show, but Gadget was the most unique charicter in any of the Disney Afternoon shows, especially when it was first broadcast. Monty and Zipper were also interesting, but there had been others like them before. Gadget was something new.
10. Chip and Dale are cool but I think they can only take the show so far, I mean without Gadget they wouldn't be the same Rescue Rangers. It would be just like a new Chip and Dale show and not Rescue Rangers. I like Chip and Dale, so I probably would still be a fan of the show. I wouldn't be nearly as big of a fan though.
11. This show did shape my young mind, more than it's partners in the DA lineup. Though Gadget was my favorite character (and I may not have become the geek I am without that infleuence), I would still be a major fan (even though the memories I have of back then are fuzzy, CDRR are some of the brightest ones).

3. It was either "Jerk" or "Too Serious". It became the latter, but he's way too short-tempered around Dale
4. Being a leader can be unpopular, but he needs to check his ego at the door on occasion and lighten up.
5. Chip has a way of taking things too personally and taking it (and his own insecurities) out on others. If he's allowed to grow out of that, he's a cool dude.

15 Total votes

Comments:
1. While romantic developments are good subject matter, there seems sometimes to be an excessive concentration on it. The Rangers can have great detective, science fiction, and other action and adventures without it.
2. Well, I'm C+G, and not really fond of most pairings where Chip and Gadget are partnered with someone other than the other (did that make sense), I like romance fics, but you don't need romance for a good fic. And Mary Sue is "teh bad," as the 1337speak says. Unfortunately, there isn't an option that covers all that. So I voted "Other."
3. Romance is just fine, but not absolutely neccessary for a decent story. Personally, I'd rather it be incidental, rather than a primary theme. But a good romance can take on a life of it's own, especially if it involves non-typical pairings. That said, Dale's an idiot if he doesn't marry Foxglove.

Comments:
1. I voted Monty & Zipper but think Monty/Chip would be a better mix since I believe Chip would be better able to handle the possible emergency of Pres Monty being incapacitated.
2. I think it would be Chip and Dale together. Chip would be the thinker who can run the country while Dale has the invaluable people skills to communicate with the majority of people who don't care about intellectual discussion on high levels.
3. Chip has the hard-headed practicality and Monty has the street/foreign experience. Add Gadget as science advisor, Dale for supreme court, and Zipper as White House spokesperson (he can't talk, making him one of the most popular political speechmakers in history). And, of course, Tammy for first lady!
4. Unfortunately, only the villians would stand any chance of acting like a president - I can't imagine that the good guys would be willing to lie, steal, and murder on both personal and national levels to get what they want.
5. Chip and Gadget. Chip's a leader, and Gadget would be a popular First Lady/VP.
6. Gadget would have the "kinder, gentler" voice when needed, then put on the orange when anyone tried to threaten us. Chip would be a good voice of reason when needed, and would enjoy presiding over the Senate--as long as he didn't use that gavel too much...
7. Sorry guys, but only humans are recognized citizens, and therefore only Klordaine and Nimnul are legally eligible canidates.

Angst=good story 2 (8%)

Put them through the wringer! 3 (13%)
Other 10 (43%)

23 Total votes

Comments:
1. No way to answer except on a case-by-case basis. Whatever is appropriate for the story is fine. Angst for its own sake is deadly boring, but plot-driven angst can be interesting.
2. If the purpose of the story is just to put the characters through angst, then typically it's not going to be a good story. If however angst occurs to help the characters move to a better state of character development, then angst can have a positive purpose. Whether it does or not can be subjective, of course.
3. It's gotta go somewhere interesting and be meaningful, not just miring in bad feelings for no good reason. I think it can really make great stories, though - we see what someone is really made of when they've got something difficult to work through.
4. Agree totally with the previous comments. I've written both angst and non-angst myself. Using 'bad' events as a tool to explore a character's personality is an old, important tradition in fiction; a good handyman never simply ignores one of their tools. Surely Gadget would never decide to just stop using hammers because she bopped her thumb once!
5. Being aware of bad possabilities\adult situ.\high impact threats= good. Hamming it up like a soap opera= bad. It's up to the writing.
6. This is a hard thing to answer. Some degree of angst often makes for a good story, but at the same time it should not be used as a crutch. "I can't think of anything funny or original or exciting here, so I guess I'll have Gadget get beaten up." One thing I DO notice is that after reams of discussion about how the characters (usually Gadget) have to suffer in order to "grow" or to "resolve conflicts", we seem to see very little of that growth or resolution at the end of the story or in further ones. So, a little angst may be necessary to create a story (but by no means in every case - "Case of the Cola Cult" did it very well, but most good episodes did not need it to work - but it is only legit if it is a necessary element and not what the story is all about. Otherwise, all you have is thinly disguised BDSM.
7. Depends on how it's used. Like in any story, having hardships makes for an interesting plot - otherwise, you're essentially writing children's tales.
8. Angst is good if handled properly and in moderation and executed well. But overdoses can and do occur. See product labelling for proper handling and dosage instruction. Side effects may include hair loss, mood swings, the complete and total destruction of the entire world as we know it, nausea, vomiting, and occasionally spontaneous applause and the winning of Acorn Awards. Your milage may vary. Accessories sold separately. Some assembly required. Optional Officer Haggs torture kit not pictured. ;-P

Who would make a good RR leader if Chip left?

Dale 3 (12%)
Monterey Jack 2 (8%)
Gadget 4 (16%)
Zipper 3 (12%)
Some combination 3 (12%)
They'd disband 7 (29%)
Other 2 (8%)

24 Total votes

Comments:
1. I seriously doubt that they could function without Chip as their prime motivator. Monty is too independent. Gadget is more focused on her inventions. Dale would be ineffective as leader. Zipper cannot communicate well enough.
2. Zipper (Assuming they wouldn't disband)- this little fella is being seiously underestimated, but has got great potential!
3. I think Gadget and Monty could lead, with each one balancing out the other's tendencies. They'd probably need more people to counter Chip's abscence, though. Without that, they'd probaby disband.
4. If they don't get whacked by a passing owl, the team might need to get more charactors. They might have to do odd things to avoid being managed by Bonkers or Goofy. Team Leader Tammy? Someplace in the city, there's a mall waiting to be plund- uh, "rescued."
5. I voted whole-heartedly for Zipper. He always kicks in a pinch and we know he can get the job done. They just never gave him a chance to lead. With Gadget's perpetual preoccupation with her work, Monty's obsession with cheese, and Dale's inability to take things seriously, Zipper remains the only logical answer. ~wayc~
6. Dale, with the caveat that it'd be for a short time. If Chip left for good, Dale would doubtless go with him. Gadget's too scatterbrained, Monty's too singleminded, and Zipper's too flighty (pun intended). Dale, on the other hand, has often demonstrated that he has hidden wellsprings of resourcefulness, determination and smarts. If pushed, I have no doubt he'd rise to the occasion.
7. Other. You may laugh but I really think that Tammy has the best leader qualities. And I'm not Foxhound. :)

Besides, in that vein, Klordaine has technically already had five episodes worth of time in the series, even if they were all one storyline.
2. Lahwhinie should've gotten another shot. It would've been fun to see how Chip and Dale would react to her being around.

2. I never much cared for Chip and Dale before the Rescue Rangers. Gadget totally blew me away when I first saw her - if I have become a Chip n Dale fan, it is due to her influence.
3. I clicked "Chip 'n Dale," but it was mostly because of Chip!!!! :)
4. I had zero interest in the series til I caught an episode while I was home sick... and saw Gadget for the first time.
5. I was never interested in the series. I only started in the RRverse when I got bored of writing Pern (dragonriders) fanfiction, chanced upon the Out of Range (NIMH/RR cross over) story and later read John Novak stories. So strictly speaking I am a fan of fanfiction.
6. Waht interested me? Stories of a bunch of good friends having cool adventures together.... one-of-it's-kind humour.... and certain cute mouse-inventor :)

1. I voted "No, she's mechanically-minded." Gadget likes building thing. I just don't think she would have any interest in computers. However I think if she was interested she would easily and quickly become a savant at the keyboard. In short I think she is fully capable of being Comp. savvy but is more interested in working with her tools.
2. She's probably not, but knowing her, she could catch on pretty quickly if she tried to learn.
3. I'm not sure which I really believe, but I couldn't resist the idea of Gadget OS. "Golly, you've got mail! Well, not REAL mail, it's just carefully arranged electron pulses..."

1. Hmm. I voted 'other' mostly since I really can't choose. A good fanfic uses several of these elements.

1. Chip and Dale aready have a past, of sorts, and the one shot characters, however interesting, just weren't fleshed-out enough to lead a spin-off. My vote's for Monty (possibly with Zipper). Anyone for "The Adventures of Young Monteray Jack"?
