Parker pulled herself away from Jarod long enough to speak. "Jarod, we can't do this here."

"Why? Nobody is watching." He whispered in her hair as he continued to kiss her neck.

"I know but our son is only a few feet away."

"He is safe." Jarod couldn't keep his lips off her skin.

Parker peeled him off of her. "I want to see Lyle." She stared into his eyes.

"Lyle?"

"Yeah. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be here."

"Ok, you can call Sydney when we get back to the cabin."

"Thank you." She gave him a peck on the cheek.

Jarod took her hand into his as they walked back to the cabin.

St. Catherine's Hospital

Jarod peeked around the corner of the stairwell. "I don't see anyone."

Parker stepped out. "Follow me." She whispered.

They walked down the hall scanning the area for sweepers and anyone else that worked at the Centre. Jarod grabbed a lab coat that was hanging near a nurse's desk. Parker strolled on by as Jarod snatched the chart that belong to Lyle. He looked up at the board behind the nurse's desk in search of Lyle's room. When he found it, he clutched the chart and walked on by.

"This way." He took Parker's arm and lead her in the direction of Lyle's room.

They stepped into the room to find Sydney sitting next to the bed.

"Syd." Parker hugged the older man.

"Miss Parker." The doctor was relieved to see her.

"Any change?"

"He went into an coma. The doctor only gave him a few hours at the most."

Jarod browsed through the chart. "It's doesn't look good."

"What do you mean it doesn't look good?"

"His lab work is off."

"Off?" Parker looked at Jarod like she didn't understand.

"His glucose and potassium are high and his CO2 is too low. He is going through kidney failure."

"Kidney failure?" Parker sat down next to her brother on the bed. She took his hand into hers. "I don't understand...."

"These labs aren't compatible with life." Jarod mumbled as he read more of the chart.

"....why did you do this?" Parker cried as she raised Lyle's hand to her lips. She brushed his hand next to her cheek as the tears rolled down her face.

The heart monitor beeped causing all three of them to jump. They watched as his heart beat became irregular before becoming a flat line on the monitor.

"No!" Parker cried out harder. "You can't leave me Lyle!" Parker screamed over and over again.

Jarod pulled her back as a crew of nurses ran in with the crash cart.

Parker watched as his arm went limp. She knew they had lost him and weren't getting him back. She buried her head into Jarod's chest and cried.

"Parker...." She looked up to the sound of the voice. "....it's ok. You have your family now." She watched Lyle's spirit leave his body.

"Lyle." She reached out toward him.

"I'm at peace now." Lyle smiled as his ghost disappeared into the air.

"We have to go." Jarod spoke softly. He pulled her out of the room and into the hall.

"Jarod. Sweepers." Sydney informed him.

"Parker, now!" He picked her up and darted down the hall to the stairs.

The Cabin

Jarod got Parker settled on the couch. "Are you going to be ok?" He pushed her hair back off of her neck.

"Yeah." She looked up at him with her red swollen eyes. "I have a family now." She cracked a smile.

"You mean it."

"If you will still have me."

He pulled her into his embrace. "Always." He whispered.

The next morning, Jarod packed up the car. The Major and Jarod had planned to meet later in Canada. They said their goodbyes and were getting into the car when an older model car pulled up. Broots, Debbie, and Sydney got out.

"I hope you weren't planning on leaving without saying goodbye." Broots walked up Parker.

"I was going to call." She gave the tech a hug.

"I know you have to get going but Debbie wanted to say goodbye."

Debbie wrapped her arms around Parker. "I'm going to miss you."

Parker gave her a kiss on the head. "Not for long. Jarod was planning on having you come for a visit." She looked the young girl in the eyes.

"Really?" She smiled.

"Yeah when I know it is safe you can come." Jarod hugged the older man. "I'm going to miss you."

"I'm sure you will keep in touch." Sydney spoke.

They said their final goodbyes one more time. They watched as Jarod, Parker, and Tommy drove off.

"Thank you Sydney for watching over my son." The Major said as the car disappeared.

"I'm glad you two have found each other."

"Me too."

A year later
Canada

"Honey, hurry up they will be here any minute." Jarod called out to his wife.

"I'm coming." She entered the living room. "Does this make me look fat?"

"You are not fat." He kissed her cheek. "You are pregnant. There's a difference." He grinned.

"Pregnant...fat...it's all the same to me." She mumbled under her breath. She heard a car pull up.

"They are here." Jarod went to the door.

"Tommy, your uncle Sydney and Broots are here." Parker yelled down the hall.

"I'm coming."

They met them out on the porch.

"Look at you." Sydney gave Parker a big hug.

"I know. I am fat."

"No, you look good. Really." Sydney was trying to make her feel better.

"Debbie." Parker pulled the girl into her arms. "I have missed you. You have to tell me everything." They walked inside the house leaving the men to bring in the suitcases.

Broots followed the ladies in. "We can tell what you have been up to since the wedding." He laughed.

"Smart ass." She stuck her tongue out at the tech.

"So what you having?" Debbie asked.

"A girl." Tommy answered. "Yuck."

"You don't like girls." Debbie sat down in the floor with him.

"No. They are gross."

They all laughed.
