Summary: Pacey and Joey are brought together through pain and hatred.

*******
He still couldn't believe they did it to him. His best friend and the supposed love of his life had been bumping uglies for the past six months, and he had only just found out. Of course he wasn't the only one who was hurting, Joey had been with him when they had discovered them in Dawson's room going at it like Armageddon was going to hit at any second.

Their had been tears, yelling and screaming. Andie and Dawson had said they realised that they loved each other, but couldn't bring themselves to tell Pacey and Joey because they didn't want to hurt them, a lot of good that was!

Jen and Jack had been sympathetic, but they didn't understand. Now, Joey and Pacey were left with a bond based on hatred and betrayal. They had become close friends the past week and depended on each other to be the shoulder to cry on. As much pain as he was going through he knew she was going through more, because she didn't just lose her boyfriend, but her best friend of around ten years.

Joey sat studying a couple across the school ground and tried to draw them down to the last detail, but wasn't succeeding. She had too many things going on in her mind to concentrate on drawing. She glanced over at her friend Pacey; he was staring off into space with a look in his eyes that Joey couldn't read.

"You know, we are beyond pathetic!" Joey said finally becoming fed up, "I mean, they were the ones in the wrong and yet we are the ones sitting here moping and feeling sorry for ourselves."

"But Joey, we have every right to feel sorry for ourselves. I mean they were having sex behind our backs, and frankly I'm not really in the mood for anything other than sitting here feeling sorry for ourselves and moping."

"Well, I've had enough! Tonight we do something fun," Joey replied.

"Like what Jo? Capeside isn't exactly the right place to do something fun."

"We can get out of Capeside Pace. You can 'borrow' your dad's car and we can just drive until we feel like stopping."

"I dunno Joey, I don't think that's the best idea."

"C'mon Pacey, for me?" Joey asked making puppy dog eyes that she knew he couldn't refuse.

"Fine, today's Friday so I suppose we can get away with it. Maybe it is time I let loose a little." He said giving in.

"Okay great! Pick me up at seven." Joey said getting up. "I gotta go get something from my locker before lunch is over, come with me?"

"Let's go," Pacey said getting up and following Joey inside.

"C'mon Jo, it has to be in their somewhere."

"Shut up Pacey! It's not my fault I have a messy locker! Well actually it is. Here hold this, it's in here somewhere I know it is." Joey said shoving a pile of books into Pacey's hands.

Pacey looked up thinking he heard giggling from down the hall, and there stood the last people Pacey wanted to see groping each other. "I think I'm going to be sick," Pacey said almost to himself.

"Huh?" Joey asked turning to face him and in the process knocking the books out of his hands. There was a loud crash and Pacey and Joey looked down at the pile of books lying on the floor and then up, to see Andie and Dawson staring at them.

"Pacey get me outta here," Joey whispered close to tears.

"It's okay Jo, let's just pick these books up and leave as quickly as possible." Pacey said softly. The quickly picked the books up and stuffed them into Joey's locker, but when they stood up again they realised they weren't alone.

"Um… Hey guys! How ya doin'? Andie asked cheerfully.

"Since when do you care?" Joey replied coolly.

"Look.. we know you're upset and all, but we'd really like to be friends." Dawson said trying to mend the damage he'd caused.

"You want to be our friends? Why don't you rub just a little more salt into that wound? I'll become friends with you again when hell freezes over!" Pacey exclaimed angrily, he couldn't believe the nerve of these people.

"Please Pacey! I don't want you to be mad at us, you don't know how sorry we are that you found out the way you did, but I love Dawson and he loves me and he makes me happy," Andie said begging Pacey with her eyes to forgive them.

"You know the funny thing is I thought I was the one who made you happy and who you loved, boy was I wrong!" Pacey said.

"We know you're angry now, but hopefully one day you'll be able to forgive us." Dawson tried, "I mean I really miss our friendship, Jo. What we had was special and I miss that, I miss you."

"You should have thought of that before you broke my heart and hurt me so much I could barely breathe because of the pain." Joey said her voice barely above a whisper.

"You okay Jo?" Pacey asked wrapping an arm around her waist for support.

"Yeah, thanks. Pacey, can we please go," Joey said on the verge of tears.

"Sure Jo, you wanna skip our last classes?" Pacey asked concerned for Joey.

"Yeah let's go." Pacey gave them one last glare before leading Joey to his car and helping her in. "Well that was fun." He said sarcastically as he drove out of the school parking lot.
