Chapter 3

Hey, it's me again. I told you that I'd give you a report on what's going on thus far. Let me tell you, I was so totally right about this place. It is a hell hole. I mean at first it seemed all right when I met Peter, he's the headmaster of Mount Horizon. Now let me tell you when things started turning out a little differently. One word to sum it up, Shelby. As I began writing today's journal entry a girl with shoulder length brown hair plopped onto the bed next to me and sighed. I looked at her for a moment, unlike mostly everyone else she looked sad. Not mad though. "You okay?" I questioned as I set down my pen for a moment. "Not really but it isn't like anyone here really cares. I mean nobody here understands, nobody." "I can relate." I admitted. "I'm new here and nobody understands anything about my life ands all they want to know is why I am here." "I'm Juliette, I would say welcome but at the moment I just wish this whole place would disappear." "I'm Laney." I picked up my pen and continued writing. Maybe there really is hope for this place! I just met Juliette and she actually seems normal... she doesn't like this place either. One person in this entire place that I have something in common with. "What are you writing?" She questioned as she took out a notebook. "A journal entry. I just started this journal earlier this morning, just writing what this place is like so far." I replied. "Yeah, this is my journal. I try to write but I never seem to get the time anymore. I mean between school. Some of the activities we do and spending time with Auggie." "Auggie's that Latino guy right?" "Yeah, when did you meet him?" "Cleaning pots and pans." I rolled my eyes. "He thinks he's so street wise. Like he would survive on the streets... I mean seriously." "He knows more than you think. But why don't we talk about anything but him right now." "Okay... why do you look so sad?" She shrugged. "Everything going on around here. I mean between people saying they understand why I do certain things... when they don't. Or just things going on it gets to you after a while." "Yeah..." I sighed as I closed my notebook and laid back in my bed. "It's like they take you to this place, totally rip you away from your old life and expect you to just change. It isn't like that... and why am I talking to you about this?" I laughed slightly. "Because I'm the only one you can relate to and actually want to talk to." "Yeah, that's probably it. So, how are the guys here?" I smiled rolling over and looking at Juliette. She smiled nodding her head. "Very very good... well some of them anyways." We both started laughing as Peter walked in. "There you two are. I see you've met Laney." Peter directed towards Juliette. "Yep, I have." "Juliette, your Mom is coming to visit you tomorrow." "Why is she coming here! She doesn't care about me Peter. You know it and I know it." "Your Mother does care or else she wouldn't have sent you here." Peter replied boldly. "You keep trying to convince me of that but it is not true. Peter, can you please leave?" She questioned. "Alright. But she does love you. And Laney, I need you in my office in two hours." "Okay." I replied as he left our dorm. "Ahhh! Why does she do this all the time?!" Juliette screamed after Peter had left. I walked over to where she was sitting on her bed and sat down next to her. "Do you want to talk about it?" "Not really. I mean, I just met you and I don't think that you would understand, nobody does." "Okay, but if you ever want or need to talk I'll listen." I informed her. "Okay... thanks. And if you ever need a friend I am here too." I smiled. "Thanks Juliette, it means a lot to know that there is one person here I can trust." Juliette hugged me and suprisingly I hugged her back. Just then a blonde haired woman I later discovered her name, Sophie, walked in the room. "Girls, everyone needs to be at the ropes course in ten minutes."She said and then left. Jules and I left and were at the ropes course in five minutes. "You have to be kidding me, there is no way that I am going up there." I whispered to Juliette. "We all do, it's no big deal." "No you don't understand... my one fear is heights there is no way I am doing this." "Okay everyone's here!" Peter shouted over the group of people. "Now we can get started, who's going first?" "Why doesn't the newbie go first." Shelby suggested. "I would do it first only I don't know how to do it yet, why don't you show me Queen Shelby." I remarked. "All right Shelby's first, then Laney." Oh crap, I thought, what did I just get myself into.
