"I know Dana.... yeah... I can't even believe that my foster parents are sending me to this stupid place. It's probably going to be a total hell hole. Look I gotta go now... yeah... I'll talk to you soon."I finished as I hung up the phone with my best friend, Dana. I had just finished packing and had begun writing in my journal. My foster parents were preparing to haul me off to some place called Mount Horizon. They had made the decision for me to go there. It was so that I could work out my 'issues' there. All I know about this place is that there's a bunch of screwed up kids there, the headmaster's name is Peter, and this place is supposed to help me. Let me properly introduce myself I am Laney Marie Perkinson. I have as everyone likes to put it 'issues'. Well, that's what they think anyway. I'm just a normal teenager who has lived on the streets for 50% of my life. Do they expect me to be perfect after foster home bouncing? I mean come on! "Laney Marie!" My foster mother, Diane called up the stairs. "What?" I countered her notion as I tried to concentrate on what I was writing. I had decided since my other journal was full and I was going to a new place that I should probably start a new one for my 'new beginning'. I don't know... hold on a second my Foster Mom is calling me. I scribbled quickly into the new composition notebook. "We're leaving for Mount Horizon in twenty-five minutes so be ready!" "Whatever!" I rolled my eyes exasperated. I didn't need to go to this place. Alright I'm back. She's just reminding me that we're leaving in twenty-five minutes to go to this stupid place. I'm sure you'll hear loads about how much fun I'm having! Note the sarcasm. I mean this whole thing is totally pointless. I'm not going to change and I'm definitely not going to open up to the freaks who are going to be there. Well, they're shipping me off soon so I'll give you an update ASAP. Laney About an hour later I arrived at our destination: Mount Horizon. Okay so the place looks as if it has a nice scenery. But I don't need that crap, and even so it's probably just so they don't scare the parents away. A man who looked to be in his mid-thirties walked up to our car and helped Diane out of the car. After about five minutes of them talking he walked over and opened my door for me. I stepped out of the car. "Hi, I'm Peter Scarbrow but you can just call me Peter." He extended his hand and I just smiled at him. "Laney don't be rude." Diane said sternly. "Hello Peter, it is nice to meet you. I'm Laney. Where do I put my stuff?" "I'll show you to your dorm. You are going to be in a group called the cliff hangers." I nodded as he then led me to my room where I saw a beautiful blonde haired girl sitting. "Shelby when we're done in here I want you to show Laney around campus." "All right Peter." She sighed but didn't look up from what she was writing. Peter left after I got situated and walked over to Shelby. "Hi Shelby." "Hi." "What are you writing?" "An assignment." She rolled her eyes annoyed. "Okay, I think I'll just find my way around the campus myself." I rolled my eyes as I walked out the door. This was going to be a long stay at Mount Horizon... and I knew it from the first moment that I met Shelby.
