There hasn't been that many successful New Zealand movies made. Smash Palace, Heavinly Creatures and Scarfies have done alright, but you can't really think of many more. The latest big home grown movie is "Savage Honeymoon" which hasn't been released yet, but has gone from a R18 to a R15, so it must be good. There should be more info soon so keep checking.
Also on the agenda, is a new comedy called Jubilee, which is directed by the very talented Michael Hurst. The story is about an average man who is forced to put on the towns 75th aniversary jubilee. Cliff Curtis (Three Kings, The Insider) plays the lead role, and he is backed by a lot of famous and talented New Zealand actors and actresses. This movie looks set to be another great home grown peice of cinema.
