His name is Mr. MacPhisto [a.k.a. Mephistopheles]. Portrayed by Bono of U2 as part of their 1993 Zooropa tour, he is the Devil as the last music superhero. And now, he is our most wanted guest star for the ANGEL series. I mean, come on! Look at him! He's perfect. Previous characters Bono has created were The Fly and Mirrorball Man, but nothing compares to the fabulous Mr. MacPhisto.
"I've given you capitalism so now you can all dream of being as wealthy and as glamorous as me." - MacPhisto
"MacPhisto is The Fly down the line. When he goes into falsetto on Can't Help Falling In Love, it's the little boy inside the corrupt man breaking through for a moment. "." - Bono of U2
Most Wanted: The section where we decide who should guest-star!
"MacPhisto is Satan as a cross between Elvis, Sinatra and a thirties Berlin carabet star. He is also Goethe's Mephistopheles, the European symbol of great art and temptation. He risked his immortal soul for knowledge. That's a trade-off that fascinates U2. " - Bill Flannigan, 1995.
Of course, by now you've realized that here at DXA we're just joking around. We don't actually expect Bono to suddenly show up! Although...it would be more than interesting if he did a number at Caritas...
"Look what you've done to me. You've made me very famous and I thank you. I know you like your popstars to be exciting so I bought a list..." - MacPhisto at the end of a U2 concert
