There have been a couple
of fans interested in the Robin & Nik friendship in 1998 as she
helped him to recovery his speech after being shot. So I condensed down
the Robin & Jason edits that contained all of Robin's scenes to
follow just her scenes with Nik. Emily told Robin about Nik's situation and asked for advice and help. Ms. Scorpio suggested turning him on to speaking in French, that maybe he'd feel less pressure, and have an easier time of it. When Emily came home to look for some Dumas to bring to Wyndemere, the folks informed her that her extra-curricular activites were about to come to an end. When she pointed out that Stefan was no more a dangerous kidnapper than the Quartermaines, the argument didn't wash. Under great protest, she said she was going to visit Nik one last time, to explain what was going on and drop the books off. When she did, Stefan tried to give her the run around and run her off the island, but Nik came downstairs and gave his uncle a "leave us alone, NOW" kind of look. And Stefan did. Nik was upset with Emily's news, stuttered a bit, and put the kibosh on the idea of having Sarah help him. When Emily told Robin that her parents would no longer allow her to work with Nik in his recovery, Robin offered to help him in her place. Back at Wyndemere, Nik was at the chessboard, and in a sudden fit of temper, got up and yelled "uncle" a couple of times but it was unheard. Robin arrives at Windemere and Katherine is glad to see her. Stephan, however, attempts to send her off. Robin gives as good as she gets and goes outside to wait for Nikolas (remember that Robin's father, Robert, was Luke's co-hort in bringing down Stefan's father, Mikos, and sending his uncle to prison). Robin meets Nik and tells him that Emily isn't allowed to come any more. She hands him the French books, and he asks her to stay. Nik is frustrated by his lack of progress in speech therapy and has a few choice words to utter in French. Robin tells him that maybe they need a break, but Nik wants her to stay. Nik reads from a book praising a woman's beauty and almost seems to be describing Robin. He gazes at her in a most unscholarly manner. Nik gets frustrated again. Robin encourages him. His disability can be treated as others have been injured and no amount of treatment can help them, but they still manage to go on with their lives. Robin and Nikolas go to Café Matisse and she thinks it's about time he start speaking with every day people. Robin has him order, out loud, for the both of them. He does so in French. After doing a good job of speaking, he asks Robin to tell him something about herself no one else knows. Robin really doesn't know what to say. She's lived in PC all her life so people know mostly everything about her. There is one thing though, she can shoot. Her parents taught her so she'd be able to protect herself. Robin tells Nikolas her family has a long and complicated history. She remembers hearing his family's name around her house but was told to be careful of them. He has been given the same advice he says. But he informs her they are two separate people. Robin and Nikolas have left the café and are now down at the dock. He thanks her for seeing him off and asks if she'd like to come with him. She doesn't think they should push things, they did a lot today. Sarah appears on the dock and calls out his name. She is so happy to hear his voice, she thought she'd never hear it again. She asks him to say something else but he doesn't and Robin tells her he can't. He walks away and Sarah says she just heard him talk and Robin tells her they've been working on it all day. Sarah thought Emily was working with him (that's a lie because she was the one who arranged that Emily not be allowed to go to Spoon Island) and Robin says she was but is not allowed anymore. Robin tries to explain the situation to her and asks her to be patient with him. He'll be talking with her soon. Sarah tries again to speak to Nikolas but he won't look at her so she says goodbye and hurries off. He thanks Robin. Nikolas tells Robin he hurt her but Robin believes things will go back to normal for him and Sarah. She still cares for him and who could blame her. Sarah watches the two and then leaves, still upset. Robin comes up to Nikolas. She has a French newspaper for him to read, or he could read the letter from Laura. Nik says that Laura sends lies. Robin reads the letter aloud. Lulu saw Nik's picture and brightened up. Laura wants Nik back in her life. Nik gets more and more agitated. Robin tells about her parents. Nike starts to talk. He's very emotional. "She'll always choose them over me, always!" She points out that he's talking. Nik appears to be falling for Robin. Stefan arrives and thanks Robin but says that her services are no longer necessary. Robin replies that she's Nik's friend, and that she was happy to do it. Stefan says that Nik will be very busy now, and will be unable to pursue a friendship with Robin. Robin is dubious of that assumption. Stefan offers her tuition money for her services, and Robin refuses it. Stefan leaves, reminding her that "Everything I do, is in Nikolas' best interest." Katherine throws a shower for Felicia at Wyndemere. While all were waiting for the bride, Robin went off to wrap her gift, a black, silky lingerie. Nik walked in while she was holding it up to herself, about to fold it. After mutual blushing ensued, she rejoined the party and Nik stumbled off. As the party was breaking up, Nik arranged another Café Matisse date with Robin. Robin went to the bridge, where she was approached by Helena, who tried to express her "thanks" for helping Nikolas and wanted to talk abut how much they had in common, but Robin wanted none of it and announced, "I don't know you, and I prefer not to." To Robin's retreating back, Helena shrugged "it's a start." At the Port Charles Grill, Robin stops by Nik's table. She introduces herself to Sarah, and asks if she can join them? "It's for a good cause," she assures them. "What good cause?" Nik asks. Robin replies, "True love." Nik welcomes her, and Sarah tries to hide her discomfort. (Robin has joined them to leave Brenda to be alone with Jax). Nik and Robin continue to shut Sarah out, comparing notes about shared experiences, turning her every contribution into a reason to talk to one another. Nik makes a remark about Robin helping Brenda with her love life, Robin replies that it's "like La Liaisons but without the malice." Sarah tries to jump in, "You mean 'Dangerous Liaisons?'" Robin replies, "Well, kind of, it's the book. We've been reading it together a lot lately." Robin and Nik are exchanging stories about Paris, giggling and bantering comfortably. Sarah points out that "The oyster man is gone" and Robin leaves to join Jax and Brenda, but not before thanking Nik for dessert. "I liked it better than Café Matisse". Robin enters the lobby and brushes past someone hidden behind a newspaper, apparently reading. Ah-hah--the newspaper is lowered and we see it is Helena. Helena tells Robin how grateful she is for the part Robin played in Nikolas' recovery. Robin politely but firmly brushes her off. Helena concedes graciously, but lets Robin know that should she ever need a friend. Robin and Nik are at the park with a take-out picnic of calamari, roasted chicken and salmon, and chocolate eclairs. He toasts her with lobster bisque. "Although I've regained my speech, I still don't have the words to thank you for helping me." He apologizes for Stefan's attempt to pay Robin off. Tony is in the park with Lucas. Bobbie calls because she's running late handprinting babies. Apparently Tony hasn't heard Edward's broadcast about Michael, and this is the first inkling he has that he might be in trouble. Tony tries to figure out what to do, and plans to take Lucas to Betty. Lucas gripes that his dad doesn't love him any more. He's leaving, and even when he's there, he wants to be away. As they leave the park they see Robin and Nikolas. Lucas runs up to Nikolas and informs him that he's 4'2" and 55 pounds. Tony asks them if they can watch Lucas, and leaves. Nik plays with a funny voice with the little boy. While Lucas, having spurned the food, is off at the swings, Robin and Nikolas talk about diabetis and HIV. Tony comes back. While Lucas is tugging his hat out of T's pocket, a piece of paper drops out. Robin calls after Tony, but he doesn't hear her. Nik goes off for hot chocolate, and Robin looks at the paper, which is a receipt for a bassinet and diapers and formula. Robin figures out that Tony has Michael. Jason goes to Spoon Island. Stefan tries to keep him away from Nik, threatening to kill him, among other things. "It's regrettable when innocentssuffer." Katherine comes down with the riding togs, and is on Jason's side. Nik comes in and immediately asks if Robin is all right, since he's been trying to call her. They talk about the winter picnic and Nik mentions the receipt. Jason figures out it's Tony, races off, with Nik protesting "It couldn't be Dr. Jones!" "Oh yes, it is!" Jason flings back. Nik arrives at GH to read to Robin in French, they discuss fairy tales and their meaning in real life. She thanks him for telling Jason about what happened that day in the park. Robin agrees to a hike and picnic with Nik. Nik leaves and meets Jason outside her room. Nik thanks Jason for saving his life and Jason says that Luke helped too. Robin comes out after Nik leaves and talks to Jason, just chit chat. She invites him to stay but he claims prior commitments. Nik comes to see Robin at the courthouse. He wants to know why she's sitting around. She's puzzled that Alexis took on Tony's case. Nik wants to take her to dinner at Wyndemere. There are grilled lamb chops on the menu. Robin agrees. Mrs. Lansbury takes their coats. Katherine interrupts, of course. She tells about Devlin's murder. She's off to Deception. Robin tries to explain about her testimony but Katherine says it's just like her getting back with Stefan. "As long as you know what you're doing is right." Katherine is really sorry she can't stay for dinner. Robin and Nik look at pictures. This dinner is doomed, because then Helena comes in. Nik tells Helena off. He throws her out. They talk about fencing but it's too dangerous for her to learn to fence. Nik is showing her some moves and, again, Katherine interrupts. Robin leaves at this time. Nik meets Robin at the Outback for breakfast. They have a snappy dialogue concerning who will pay for the meal. Sarah arrives at Outback, and glares at Robin. When Nik get called away she lays into Robin for stealing her boyfriend. Robin tries to tell her that they are just friends. Robin and Nik discuss Sarah and argue again about who will pay. Nikolas is at the Grille, smoothly ordering a dinner for two. Robin enters and joins Nikolas at his table. He tells her he's waiting for his Jaguar to be serviced and thought he'd wait with Robin. she didn't realize the invitation was for dinner but lets Nik convince her that the errand she has to run can wait. We move to Nik and Robin's table yes, it seems he did take the liberty of ordering for her. Robin wants to be sure that Nik did not break up with Sarah on her account. He explains that he did not, but because he and Sarah were raised in different worlds. She assumes that's a common problem for him. He agrees, and says, "That's why I was so happy to meet you." She wants to know, before they go any further, what he has in mind for the two of them, and he claims he isn't really sure yet. She feels she should make clear that "I am not completely free of emotional ties." "Jason?" he asks. "The woman that Jason lived with was sent away and in some ways I feel responsible for that. So now jason is a single parent and," sheepishly, playing with her fingers, "I kinda offered to help him." Nik asks "So where does this put the two of you?" presumably Jason and Robin. Instead of answering, Robin gives him a blank look. Robin meets Nik for breakfast. They make small talk until Robin spies a newspaper headline "CRIME LORD AND MODEL IN PLANE CRASH!" Nik comforts Robin. She asks Nik to drive her somewhere as she's too upset. Robin arrives at Jason's. She and Monica exchange well wishes. Robin wants to see Michael and explain why his father isn't there. Justus thinks Nik needs to get Robin out of there before she has to witness Michael being snatched from his home by Edward Quartermaine. Later, Robin visits Nik to make sure he knows that she loves Jason and wants a future with him. Nik takes the news stoicly. She says she'd love to be his guest for Kat & Stefan's engagement party but she won't be his date. Robin and Nik enter the Bacchanalia. Compliments are exchanged. Nik tells her the the dock is lined with limos. The other guests arrive. The guests applaud as Stefan presents Katherine, they waltz. Robin asks Nik if Stefan is really a romantic? Does he really love Katherine? Nik responds, "Look at the way he looks at her!" Robin goes to see Brenda. Bobbie tells Nik she misses him, and they hug. Brenda has to tell Robin about the engagement. Stefan makes the announcement as he gives Kat the ring. Nik asks Robin to dance. Edward spies a wistful Emily watching Nik and Robin, and suggests that she cut in. Emily balks at the idea, so Edward cuts in, dancing with Robin and freeing Nik for Emily. With AJ's continued prodding, Emily finally approaches Nik, but, instead of asking him to dance, she asks him where Alan is. Later up on the balcony, Kat approaches the parapet while arguing with Laura (not shown but Kat has seen the protrait of Laura looking much as Kat does this evening in the dress Stefan provided and realizes she is a substitute Laura). Stefan insists that none of that matters that he really loves Kat. Kat backs up agains the lossened railing and falls to the ground below and lays in an unmoving heap (Luke had loosened the railing to try to take out Helena). Nik and Robin rush to her, followed by Mac. Robin goes with Nik to the hospital and she stays with him. Later, she is at the PD to offer her support after Stefan's arrest for Kat's murder because she knows how painful to see someone she loves in jail. Nik thinks Mac's involvement with Katherine in the past might stop him from getting to the truth today. Robin defends her Uncle Mac. Nik is worried about Stefan's peers judging him harshly and thinks the people have viewed the Cassadine's with suspicion and envy since they arrived. But Robin has faith in justice system. Even though Stefan comes off cold and aloof Nick says it's just the family upbringing up. They were taught not to show public displays of emotion and he fears nobody will see behind that wall. Robin cheerleads more for the justice system and Nik thanks her for all her help. She promises to be there for him if he needs her. Robin comforts Nik as a friend. Everyone is getting ready to leave for the ball, Kool and the Gang's Celebration plays as Brenda and Jax, Lucky and Liz, Justus and Robin, Taggert and Dara, Nik and Alexis, Mac, Felicia and Georgie and then, a solo Luke and Jerry leave in their fancy duds. Lucy says the theme for this year's ball is 'hope'. It's a celebration of everything they've achieved, yet they need to remain mindful of all the work that still needs to be done. Lucy introduces the first act. It's "Jailhouse Rock" starring Dara, Taggert, Liz and Lucky. Afterwards, Lucy acknowedges the sponsor but first pays tribute to Katherine Bell who the evening is dedicated to. Meanwhile, Alan is popping pills. AJ sees him and asks if he's okay. Lucy introduces Alan and Robin performing "Someone to Watch Over Me". Alan appears distracted and then starts to falter. He misses a dance cue and Robin falls. Alan stops singing and blames Robin for the misstep. He continues to fail, and then blames the band and leaves the stage. Robin is mortified, standing on the stage all alone unsure what to do. Ned saves the day and picks up where Alan left off and they finish the number. The audience applauds while Monica and Emily look embarrassed. Emily overhears Robin and Nikolas talking about Alan, and what a disgrace it was to have him show up drunk at the ball. Ned takes over emcee position and invites those who can't afford a raffle ticket to give cash donations into the hats on the tables. Lucy asks everyone to be seated and tells them that the show must go on, with or without electricity. She tells the audience that candlelight is more appropriate for the next part of the program the reading of witness statements. She likens the candlelight to people that one candle by itself give off a little light, but a whole group of candles can light up a whole room. That collectively, we can find a cure for AIDS/HIV. Then several people read witness statements: Edward, Bobbie, Jax, Ellen, Audrey, Nikolas, Monica and finally Robin. Lucy tells everyone that even though Stone is gone, he still touches many people's lives. She announces the new Stone Cates Memorial AIDS Wing, donated by Sonny. Lucy introduces the next act in the program, Ned and Emily performing "Power to Believe". She informs the audience that this song was first performed for Stone Cates (trivia it was sang by Miguel - Ricky Martin at a previous Nurse's Ball). The next musical number "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" performed by Scott (with Serena and Karen), Edward (with Emily) and Mac (with Robin and Maxie). This number segues into the next one, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." This time it is Robin and Emily (singing lead vocals), accompanied by Maxie, Karen and Serena. Mac, Edward and Scott are standing off to the side of the stage, watching their "girls" proudly. Then the girls bring the men on stage and dress them up in hats and feather boas as they finish the song. As Lucy is about to announce the next part of the program, Tony comes on stage and shocks everyone by saying, "Thank heaven for hypocrites!" Lucy pleads with Tony to get off the stage, but he takes the microphone from her, because, of course, has some things to tell everyone. He berates them all for coming to the NB only for show, all dressed up and looking like concerned citizens for one night, in order to appease their consciences. He then (verbally) attacks Jax for the strike, for being a corporate raider, etc. Next in the line of Tony's fire is Edward, Alan and the rest of the Qs. He calls them dysfunctional blackmailers, among other things. Next is Stefan, though Tony does give him as bit of a break, since Stefan will still have to face a trial. Next up is Sonny and Jason. He calls them big spenders stating that they financed their table at the ball with a little help from their "illegal" activities. He also remarks that Jason would have trouble counting to ten, even if you spot him 1 through 9. To sum up, Tony claims that these above mentioned criminals are trying to purchase respectability, while everyone just blindly applauds their efforts. After listening to his tirade, Robin finally speaks up and tells Tony to sit down and as far as Jason is concerned, he came to the NB because he loves her not to win anybody's respect. Robin tries to make Tony understand that they are all there at the NB for a common goal to help fight AIDS. Then she tells him to take his hatred and leave. Tony steps off the stage and heads for the door, but not before he gives Bobbie some grief about not being able to see Lucas. Jerry suggests that he keep on walking and Tony comments to Bobbie that it didn't take her long to hook up with someone new. Then he gives her the final blow. He tells Jerry that when he gets tired of Bobbie to "try" Carly that there is a "talent" that runs in their family. For that last remark, Jerry punches him in the face, sending Tony sprawling on the floor. Nik and Lucky are arguing out on the balcony, Jason breaks up their fight. Jason asks Em how she is and then tells Lucky that this isn't the place to fight with Nik. Nikolas then goes back inside with Emily. Nik goes with Robin to Mac and Felicia's wedding, since Jason knows Mac wouldn't want him there. Robin tells Mac that she has never seen him so happy. He tells her he has Felicia, her, Maxie, Georgie, even Mariah- what more could a man want? Robin tells Nikolas that she's been dreaming since she was a young girl about Mac and Felicia getting married that they belong together. Nikolas is distracted, he admits to Robin that he has information that could incriminate Stefan in Katherine's murder. Nikolas confides to Robin that he fears his testimony at Stefan's trial could send his uncle to jail. Mac and Felicia cut the cake and then take turns feeding a piece to each other. Felicia rounds up all of the single ladies time to throw the bouquet. Felicia throws the bouquet and Liz catches it, well actually it sort of lands in her hair. Felicia and Mac thank all of their guests for sharing their day with them as they head off for their honeymoon in France. Robin meets Nik at the PC Hotel and they sit and have coffee. Nikolas says he's finally glad to meet Michael. She asks how the trial's going and he says terrible because he thinks his testimony incriminated his "uncle". They talk about who they saw on the parapet and they both say it could have only been Katherine. She had the same dress, hair style everything. Then Brenda shows up and Nik offers her a seat. She holds Michael and looks at him like she wants to have one of him. She gives him back to Robin and they sit and chit chat for a little bit. Then Robin says she has to go because she has a date with Jason and she leaves. Robin and Nikolas are out together again and talking about how Nikolas feels he messed up the trial. She tells him that she would have said the same stuff if they called her to testify because she's on the witness list, she just hasn't been called yet. Robin attends Nik's
birthday party at Wyndemere with Lucky, Nik, Em, Liz, Lulu, Alexis,
Laura, Stefan, Kat, and even Helena! Nik leads Lulu off to see Robin.
Robin and Nik are seated on either side of Lulu on the couch. Robin
tells Nik that his little sister looked like both her brothers. The
women are talking to Lulu about her pretty dress. Nikolas'
birthday party continues, with Stefan's very touching toast about
Nikolas' ascent into manhood. When he is finished the guests tease
Nikolas asking for a speech. Nikolas jokingly says, in the words of
another well known royal, let them eat cake. The guests laugh and do
just that. |
