Ric & Liz #2  April 18 - July 7, 2003 - Part 1 of write up - 8 hr original edit

At Kelly's, Ric tried to be sociable with Carly and Courtney, but they both told him off. He went and sat with Elizabeth, who was flattered by but suspicious of his fascination with her. She asked him if he really cared about her because she didn't want to get hurt again. Ric told her that caring about someone was by nature a risk but that he would never deliberately hurt her. In front of Ric, Sonny staged an argument with one of his men over Jason's actions, trying to expose Ric as Faith's partner. Ric tried to hide his concern when Sonny said Jason would force Faith to surrender the name of her partner. Ric fell for Sonny's trap and "tricked" Greg to give up the address of the safehouse where Jason was holding Faith. A nervous Ric told Elizabeth how much he cared about her and that he could be in danger. Ric arrived at the safehouse and shot several times through the window. Worried, Elizabeth left a message on his voicemail telling him that she loved him.

A worried Elizabeth tries again to reach Ric with no luck. When Taggert arrives to order a cup of coffee to go, Liz suddenly confides to the detective that Ric is missing and that Liz believes that Ric got on the wrong side of Sonny and Jason. Elizabeth confides that Ric told Liz that Ric might not live through the night. Taggert promises to check into the situation for Elizabeth. At one of Sonny's Safe Houses, Ric spots a blond figure through the window and empties his gun at the figure's head. But, when Ric turns around, he finds that Sonny has been standing behind him. Sonny names Ric as Faith's silent partner. Ric tries to explain that he believed that Faith was a threat to Sonny, but Sonny accuses Ric of being the one who paid for the hit woman who shot up Carly's Club and Sonny informs Ric that Ric is going down for the threat to Sonny's family. Sonny informs Ric that the only thing Ric is going to be allowed to say is to give Sonny a reason why Ric became so involved with Faith in tormenting Sonny's family. When Sonny takes Ric inside the Safe House, Ric discovers that he shot a mannequin with a blond wig. Ric continues to insist to Sonny that he proved himself to Sonny over and over again, including getting Brenda and Jason acquitted for Alcazar's murder and taking the bullet meant for Sonny during the shooting at Carly's club. Sonny insists that he always knew Ric was working an agenda and that Sonny never trusted Ric! When Sonny again asks why Ric went through so much trouble to get next to Sonny, Ric tells Sonny to "ask your wife!" Sonny abruptly leaves Ric alone in the Safe House with one of Sonny's goons on guard, ordering the man to watch Ric, while Sonny suddenly rushes out of the house.

When Sonny returns to the Safe House where he left Ric stashed, Sonny discovers that his guard is dead, and that Ric is missing. In the meantime, a wounded Ric arrives at Elizabeth's empty Studio and slips inside. When Liz arrives, she rushes to Ric's side and frantically begins trying to stop the bleeding. As Elizabeth tries to tend to Ric's wounds, Taggert arrives at Elizabeth's door and demands that Liz open up. Liz panics and suggests that Ric tell the police about Sonny's death threat to him. Ric tells her he can't tell the police and asks her to cover for him. She lets Taggert in and apologizes to him for overreacting to the fight she had with Ric and tells him that she is fine and that Ric will call her soon. Taggert lets it go and leaves. Ric explains to her that he confronted Sonny about being a criminal and a killer and that Sonny now wants him dead. He doesn't tell her much more. Liz agrees to help him stop Sonny from killing anyone including him. Ric takes off.

Jason goes to Liz's studio and asks her to let him in. He asks her if she has seen Ric but she lies and tells him she hasn't. Jason finds a bloody bandage in the sink and realizes she is lying. He surprises her when he asks her if she is willing to protect a rapist. Liz doesn't believe him and thinks he is using her rape experience to get her to turn on Ric. She kicks him out and refuses to tell him anything. Jason is surprised she would think of him so badly but he leaves. He waits outside her studio and calls one of the men to follow Liz, hoping she will lead them to Ric. Liz gets a call from Ric. He asks her to hide the fact that he has contacted her and to not call the police. He is in a car going somewhere. Liz starts to wonder if Jason was right about him using her.

Ric hides in the trees outside of Kelly's. He sees that Liz is inside Kelly's. She is working while Courtney is sitting at the counter. He calls Liz on the phone and asks her if she is able to do what he asked of her earlier. Liz pretends that she is talking to her grandmother when she sees that Courtney can hear her. Courtney watches her behavior and gets suspicious. Liz tells Ric he can count on her and leaves with a big bag of food. Courtney remarks to her that her grandmother must have a big appetite with all that food she is bringing her. Liz is annoyed by Courtney's nosiness and tells her that her grandmother is sick and she is bringing some food for her to stock up on at home. Courtney waits for Liz to leave and follows her at a distance. Sonny's bodyguard, Max, tells her he will follow Liz and for her to stay behind.

Jason goes to the park and finds Liz talking to some man that isn't Ric. Jason tells the man to leave and accuses Liz of using the man as a decoy to allow Ric to escape. The man is insulted with Liz and leaves. Jason asks Liz how far she will go to protect a rapist. Liz doesn't believe him and tells him she will protect Ric if she wants if it means keeping him from being killed by Sonny. Jason tells her that Ric hasn't called the police, which means he is hiding something. Liz doesn't like it that Jason has a good point and listens. Liz tells him she doesn't know where Ric is and that she is telling him the truth. Courtney goes to Ric's new apartment and finds the door opened. She comes in and looks around. She picks up the phone. Ric grabs her and pulls a gun on her. Courtney tells him he can't run from Jason and Sonny and that Sonny knows that he raped Carly. Ric makes a remark about Sonny always getting what he wants and not deserving a loving family. Courtney waits until Ric is at a disadvantage when he goes to close the door and hold the gun on her at the same time. Courtney takes him by surprise and attacks him. She punches him and knocks him to the floor. She runs to the phone and calls Jason. Ric comes up behind her and grabs her. She manages to tell Jason where she is before the phone is cut off. Jason shows up and draws his gun. Ric is there waiting for him and points the gun at him and tells him to hold it. Ric held Jason at gunpoint, threatening to shoot a tied-up Courtney if he did not drop his gun. Jason released his gun. Ric ordered Jason to tell Sonny to go to Martha's Vineyard and then knocked him unconscious.

Elizabeth went to the penthouse and demanded that Carly confess to lying about Ric raping her. Surprisingly cool, Carly told Elizabeth that Ric was a liar and a rapist and had deceived them both. Elizabeth would not be convinced and berated Carly for telling a lie that would get Ric killed. Carly told Elizabeth that she had been drugged and Ric had violated her while she was unconscious. Jason burst in and announced that Courtney had been kidnapped. He turned to Elizabeth and demanded that she tell him everything she knew about where Ric might be. Jason demanded that Elizabeth tell him where Ric would have taken Courtney. Elizabeth refused to believe that Ric would have kidnapped Courtney or raped Carly, but she told Jason that she didn't know where he would go anyway. Jason told her to leave.

Sonny arrived at the house on Martha's Vineyard at the Lansing summer cottage. Ric came up behind him with a gun, and held him at gunpoint while asking him about his memories of what had happened there. Sonny remembered that his mother fell down the stairs after struggling with him to put on a jacket. Sonny demanded to know why Ric cared about his childhood. Ric told Sonny that Ric's father was Adela's boss. As Ric started talking about Adela, Sonny became angry and managed to wrestle the gun away from Ric. Sonny told Ric that he would die for raping Carly. Ric told Sonny that they are brothers. Sonny trains his gun on Ric and refuses to believe that Ric's mother was Adela. Ric challenges Sonny to go ahead and shoot Rick, explaining that, when Adela fell down the stairs at the Lansing Cottage, she was pregnant with Ric. Sonny and Adela had an argument about Sonny's coat, at the head of the stairs, and Sonny pushed Adela away and pushed Adela down the stairs. Ric goes on to explain that Adela worked for Ric's father, Trevor; that they were in love and, when Adela learned she was pregnant, Trevor and Adela planned to marry. Trevor had already filed for a divorce from his wife by the time that Trevor, Adela and Sonny arrived at the cottage to spend the summer. Ric insists that Trevor truly loved Adela and would have taken care of her and if Adela had stayed with Trevor, Adela would never have suffered the way she did when she went on to marry Deke Woods! Sonny remembers Adela talking about being a family with Trevor. Ric accuses Sonny of being jealous of the time Adela spent with Trevor and insists that Sonny pushed Adela down the stairs to get rid of her baby so Trevor would go away.

Sonny insists that his mother would never have had an affair with her boss, but Ric goes on to relate that, when Trevor tried to explain that Adela could not come take care of Sonny because she was in the Hospital, Sonny attacked Trevor! When Adela got out of the Hospital, Trevor told Adela that Sonny was too dangerous to have around a newborn baby and demanded that Adela give Sonny up for adoption. When Adela refused, Adela signed legal custody of Ric over to Trevor as soon as Ric was born and then Adela disappeared. Ric explains that Trevor stayed with his wife and she agreed to raise Ric, although she always resented that Ric was Adela's child. Ric describes growing up with nannies while his father spent most of his time at the office, still grieving the loss of Adela. Ric declares that Adela chose a life of poverty and violence and eventually died, all because she chose Sonny instead of a life with Trevor who loved her! When Sonny accuses Ric of raping Carly, Ric gleefully reports that he never touched Carly, but Carly was all over Ric. Ric points out that Sonny IS living up to Trevor's prediction for Sonny that Sonny was capable of ruthlessly killing his own brother in cold blood over something that never actually happened! Ric points out that Ric did not really have to do anything to destroy Sonny because Sonny is capable only of destroying those he loves! Sonny cocks his gun, but is not able to pull the trigger. Jason suddenly arrives and Jason asks him what is going on and why he hasn't shot Ric yet. Sonny reports to Jason that Sonny can't pull the trigger because Ric is apparently Sonny's brother. Jason declares: "He isn't mine!" and cocks his gun at Ric's head. From a distance away, a gunshot is heard at the cottage!

As Jason is about to shoot Ric, Sonny pushes Jason away before he can do it and the gun goes off in the other direction. Jason grabs Ric and puts him in a choke hold on the chair. Sonny orders him to leave Ric alone and not kill him. Jason hesitates but lets him go. Jason asks Sonny why he is letting him go. Sonny tells him he can't kill Ric even if he did rape Carly and kidnap Courtney and let her almost die. Ric denied raping Carly and that he just wanted her to think they had sex so he could blackmail her. Sonny relays that information to Jason, who doesn't know what to believe about Ric. Ric leaves. Sonny explains about how Ric is suppose to be his brother and how Sonny thinks it is probably true since he is starting to have recollections of what happened at this house when he was a young boy. He remembers that Ric's father Trevor hated him and wanted Sonny's mother to choose between her two sons. She chose Sonny over Ric, and Ric hates him for it because of how her life turned out with Deke later. Sonny tells Jason that he can't kill Ric because he is his mother's child and that he loved his mother enough not to do that in honor of her memory. Jason understands but still feels that he should take care of him himself. Sonny tells him he can't do that and that they will just have to stop him another way and protect their family.

Ric heads to his new apartment. He sees the portrait of the house on Martha's Vineyard and remembers what happened there and looses his temper and throws things off the table. Liz turns on the lights and comes over to Ric and slaps him across the face hard and accuses him of lying and using her to get to Sonny. Ric tries to explain that she wasn't part of the plan and that he loves her. She doesn't believe him and confronts him about he could blackmail her and that Fowler was the one who drugged her. Liz doesn't believe him and is about to storm out when Faith is on the other side of the door ready to knock. Liz accuses Ric of sleeping with Faith to get to Sonny as well. Liz takes off as Ric tells her he loves her. She doesn't believe him. Faith tells him she came over to talk to him about their deal. Ric tells her they have no deal anymore and that they are no longer partners. He tells her he will destroy Sonny on his own and has something else in store for him.

Courtney gets a visit from Liz at GH. Liz asks her how she is and is pleasant to her. Courtney doesn't know why she is there at first. Liz tells her that she talked to Ric earlier and Courtney assumes that Liz believed every excuse Ric told her and asks her how he explained what he did to her. Liz cuts her off and tells her that Ric has been lying to her and she came to see her to get the truth. Courtney explains to her what happened and tells her that Ric is Sonny's brother and that he has been working for Sonny so he can get his revenge on him and destroy him. Liz is shocked by this news but realizes it explains so much about Ric and his actions.

Ric sits at the Port Charles Grill and tries to leave when he sees Faith approach him at his table. He stands up and tries to leave without talking to her. He tells her he doesn't want to work with her. Faith tells him she will not allow him to leave her twisting in the wind regarding her plan to destroy Sonny. He tells her she can do whatever she wants to do to destroy Sonny with his blessing but he doesn't trust her since she told Sonny about him when he threatened her and he can't trust her not to do it again. Scott finds them talking together. Ric denies he was doing business with Faith. Faith whispers to him that their conversation will be continued later. Scott asks him what he called him there for. Ric hands him some legal documents stating that he will be a witness against Sonny in exchange for immunity from prosecution. Scott looks at and gets suspicious of Ric's real motives. Ric informs him that Sonny is his brother and that he wants him destroyed however. Scott likes Ric's proposal and thinks they can reach a mutual goal.

Ric is visited later at home by Liz. Liz tells him she came to say a few things to him and then she was leaving. He offers her a drink and she declines it but asks him for a glass of water instead. She looks around his place and sees the portrait of the house and asks him about it. She tells him she knows Sonny is his brother and asks him if he was telling her the truth when he said that she was separate from what he was doing with Sonny and that she wasn't part of his plan and that he came to have feelings for her. He tells her he was telling the truth. Liz asks him that during any of the time he was plotting to destroy Sonny, did he ever think of dropping his vendetta against Sonny to just be happy with her instead. Ric tells her he did think about doing that several times but that in the end he couldn't stop his plot to get revenge on Sonny. Liz tells him that he didn't destroy Sonny but became just like him instead and then she leaves.

Later, Carly comes to visit him. He lets her in. He offers her a drink and she takes it. He goes to get something from the kitchen so Carly drugs his drink. She watches him pour her a drink afterwards and then watches him drink all of his wine down in satisfaction. She starts talking to him about his childhood and how weird it is for her that he is supposed to have the same mother as Sonny. Ric starts to feel dizzy and passes out on the couch. He wakes up a little to find himself tied to a chair while Carly pulls out a gun and puts a silencer on it. He asks her what she plans to do. Carly tells him she is going to stop him from destroying Sonny. Carly held Ric at gunpoint, drugged and tied to a chair. She taunted him and asked him how it felt to be helpless. Ric kept telling her she wouldn't kill her, but Carly vowed to protect her family. Sonny burst into Ric's apartment just as Carly was about to pull the trigger and stopped her, telling her that Ric hadn't raped her. Carly put down the gun and fell into Sonny's arms in tears. Sonny untied Ric and warned him not to say anything about what had happened. Later Ric went to police headquarters and gave Scott a folder he claimed had enough information in it to bring down Sonny's organization. Faith came into Kelley's and taunted Elizabeth about her dark mood. Elizabeth informed a disbelieving Faith that Ric was Sonny's brother and had been working his own agenda all along.

After Sonny had been arrested, Ric arrived and offered his legal services to Sonny, pretending to be irritated when Sonny turned him down. Sonny told Scott that Ric was after him and had fabricated any evidence that they had. Ric encountered Elizabeth on the docks and begged her to give him another chance. She told him she couldn't be with someone who would hurt women the way he had with Courtney and Carly. Ric admitted that he had done some terrible things but pleaded with Elizabeth to forgive him.

Sonny arrives at Ric's apartment and gleefully informs his brother that Ric's plan to get Sonny busted for racketeering didn't work because the Police had no evidence! Sonny suggests that it makes no sense for Ric to continue his vendetta against Sonny and that if Ric managed to wrangle some immunity out of D.A. Scott Baldwin in exchange for the information Ric turned over about Sonny, then Ric should just figure that he is breaking even and leave town. Ric reminds Sonny that Sonny is just a fraud, a street thug, attempting to appear to be a respectable businessman who will never be more than a street thug and who will never know peace. Sonny warns Ric that a lot of people have tried to take Sonny down and have failed and that Ric will be no different. Sonny informs Ric that the report that their mother was lovely, wonderful and strong was correct, but that someone lied to Ric about Sonny's complicity in Adela's accident at the Summer House. Ric retorts that Ric will never be able to know the true facts, thanks to Sonny! Sonny warns Ric that if Ric keeps coming after Sonny, Sonny will have no choice but to hit Ric so hard that Ric will never get back up again! Before Ric can respond, Sonny receives a call from Jason, informing Sonny about Courtney's accident and Sonny rushes away.

Ric listens to the TV report about Courtney's accident just as Faith barges in! Faith arrogantly informs Ric that Faith believed that Courtney overheard part of their plan to frame Jason, and saved Ric's life by silencing the girl. Ric calls the Hospital and instructs Faith to impersonate Courtney's distraught mother. Faith learns that Courtney is alive but unconscious. Faith warns Ric that if Courtney wakes up and talks, it is Ric who will suffer the most from the fall out! In her Hospital room, Courtney regains consciousness and mistakes Ric for Jason. As Courtney begins to warn Jason that Faith and Ric have something on him, she realizes that she is speaking To Ric. Ric tells Courtney that he is sorry she heard that! Ric surprises Courtney when he sits near her in the emergency room bed. He tells her that she will not be telling Jason and Sonny anything because he has physical evidence he can use against Jason if he has to pin him for the murder of Fowler. He blackmails her with the information.

Liz stops by Ric's apartment and Faith answers the door. She acts like a jealous girlfriend to Liz and Liz asks her if she is sleeping with Rick. Rick shows up and tries to get rid of Faith so he can talk to Liz alone. Liz doesn't want to hear his excuses about Faith. When she asks him to choose her or his revenge against Sonny, Ric can't give her a decision so she leaves him. Faith taunts him and gets him angry but that anger turns to passion and the two have sex. Later, Ric tells her that Courtney won't be saying anything to Jason or Sonny and that he will need to use her in his plan to destroy Sonny.

Ric pays a visit to Courtney in her hospital room as she is about to be released from the hospital. Ric shows her a document that shows where the evidence is hiding in the Fowler murder and how it all ties to Jason as the killer. He tells her that if he suddenly disappears or is killed by Jason, the information will reach Scott Baldwin and Jason will go to prison for murder. He tells her that in exchange for keeping her mouth shut with what she knows, he has provided her the location of the evidence he planted to frame Jason. Sonny shows up at her room and tells Ric to stay away from his sister. Ric points out that Courtney is sort of his sister and wants to get to know her better and came to see how she was doing. Sonny doesn't buy it and points out that Courtney is not his sister and that she is only his sister by blood. Ric leaves after Sonny warns him to stay away from his sister.

Ric goes to see Liz at Kelly's. He tries to get her to listen to him and give him another chance. Liz confronts him about sleeping with Faith. Ric doesn't deny that he slept with Faith and tries to explain that he does things like that when he is hurt about losing someone he cares about like her. Liz tells him that he is just as arrogant as Sonny and that if he loves her like he says he does, he will stay away from her for good. Ric goes on the docks. Faith finds him there and guesses by his sour mood that he just had a run in with Liz that didn't go well. She tells him to stop trying to get back with Liz and recognize that she has nothing to offer him in a way of a life. She suggests that he move to Miami with her to start over now that he has lost to Sonny and so has she. He tells her Sonny hasn't won anything yet and that he will have to use Courtney to get what he wants against Sonny.

Elizabeth started her shift at Kelley's to find an enormous spray of flowers on the counter. As she was admiring them Ric walked up, and she realized that they were hers from Ric. She told him that she had no interest in anything he had to say and was no longer interested in a relationship with him. Ric stormed out, frustrated. Later Elizabeth went to his apartment, but was annoyed to find Faith there again. Faith showed Elizabeth a diamond ring receipt she had found in Ric's apartment. She told Elizabeth that Ric was going to propose to her and that she must refuse. Elizabeth reminded Faith that she does not take orders from her.

Ric stops to talk to Courtney and Michael in the park, and he offers Michael a ride in his sports car sometime. Courtney was relieved when Sonny walked up. After Courtney and Michael left, Sonny told Ric to stay away from Michael. Ric insisted that he was family and Sonny couldn't deny it. Sonny retorted by saying that Jason was his brother, that Ric was nothing to him. Ric caught up with Courtney again and presented her with a huge diamond ring. Courtney told Ric she hated him and would never consider marrying him, but Ric told her she would do what he asked. Faith ordered Elizabeth to turn down what she believed to be Ric's imminent proposal, but Elizabeth told Faith it was her own decision to make. Faith warned Elizabeth that crossing her could be fatal. Elizabeth went to her studio and tried to bury herself in her artwork, but was distracted by thoughts of Ric. She surrendered to impulse and went back to his apartment. Ric answered the door and was shocked to hear Elizabeth profess her love for him. Elizabeth told him that she believed in him and would agree to marry him if he asked. Disgusted by Ric's plan to marry her, Courtney wanted to throw the ring but thought better of it, worried that Ric would make good on his threat to frame Jason for Fowler's murder.

At Ric's apartment, Elizabeth pours her heart out to Ric as she declares her love for him and her confidence that Ric would be able to change! But an anguished Ric announces that it is too late he is marrying Courtney! Meanwhile, Faith breaks in to Elizabeth's Studio and turns an exotic snake loose. Elizabeth is shocked by Ric's announcement and tells him he is crazy if he believes that Courtney would actually marry him or that Sonny would let Ric live after Sonny learns about it! Angrily telling Ric that she now realizes that Ric could never be capable of love, Liz storms away, leaving a very shaken Ric in her wake.

When Courtney arrives in the park, she comes across a weeping Elizabeth. When Courtney asks if Liz needs help, Elizabeth retorts: "First Jason and now Ric!" and slaps Courtney. Liz declares that she plans to fall for the first guy she trips over tonight so Courtney can run after Liz and snap up that guy as well! Courtney protests that Ric doesn't act like a guy who truly cares about Liz. But Liz refuses to listen and storms away. Later, when Liz returns to her Studio, she is bitten by the snake that Faith left behind. At the same time that Courtney meets with Ric in the park, Jason tries to alert Sonny about the situation with Ric. Courtney informs Ric that the marriage will be in name only no sex! Ric agrees!

Ric arrives at the penthouse and tells Sonny and Carly that he has some news to tell them. Ric tells them that he and Courtney are engaged to be married. Carly and Sonny accuse him of being crazy and Carly tells Ric that Jason is marrying Courtney not him. Ric tells her that Courtney is already wearing his ring and that he is going to marry her. Sonny tells him that he is getting desperate now and to stop playing games and refuses to let Courtney anywhere near him. Courtney comes in the room and tells Sonny that Ric is telling them the truth. Sonny and Carly ask her what he has on her to have her agree to marry him. Courtney lies and tells Sonny that he was right about Jason not being the man for her and that she realizes she needs someone like Ric in her life instead. Carly watches in disbelief and disappointment when Jason comes in and asks Courtney if she told them already. Carly tells Courtney off for hurting Jason and pretending to be her friend. Courtney feels bad but doesn't have an answer for her. Ric tells Courtney that he has to go and tells her to walk out with him and he will have her dropped off at home. Sonny objects to Ric taking Courtney away from them alone. Courtney tells him she is going with Ric. Ric acts all polite to Carly and tells her he hopes she will accept their marriage someday.

Ric goes to GH. Faith is already at GH. She watched in the E.R. when Liz was brought in with a snake bite. Faith waited around the E.R. Liz wakes up and talks to Bobbie. Bobbie tells her that she will check on the tests they did on her. Bobbie tells her that it looks as if Liz fell and hit her head after the snake bit her. Liz rests in one of the cubicles. She tells Bobbie she doesn't understand how a snake got into her studio when she is on the 2nd floor. Bobbie goes to check on the tests. Faith comes into the cubicle when she sees Liz alone. She admits to putting the snake in her room to scare her off. She tells her that if she goes back to Ric, she will make sure the next snake is deadly. Liz surprises her when she tells her that the ring wasn't for her but for Courtney who is marrying Ric. Liz tells Faith that Ric is marrying Courtney to get revenge on Sonny. Faith realizes with dismay that Courtney is an obstacle for her again. Faith runs into Ric in the hallway. She tells him she is fine and asks him why he doesn't just hand in the tire iron and get Jason behind bars instead of getting engaged to someone who hates him. Ric brushes her off and heads over to see Liz. Liz has her back to the doorway. Ric apologizes to her for letting her get hurt because of his business. Liz tells him to go away. Ric gets a call from Courtney asking him to meet her at the park. He tells her he is on his way. Liz guesses it is Courtney. Ric tells her he is sorry for everything. Liz tells him he is sorry and pathetic. He leaves.

Bobbie returns to talk to her. She is anxious to tell her about the tests but assures her that there was no venom in her system. Liz realizes something was discovered in her tests and tells Bobbie to spit it out. Bobbie tells her that the tests show that she is pregnant. Liz is shocked at the news. She tells Bobbie she doesn't want this pregnancy. Bobbie gets her some information about abortion. Liz looks through it all in the waiting area. Carly shows up to see Dr. Meadows at GH. She learns that there is a delay so she goes over to the waiting area when she sees Liz sitting there pouring over information with a sad look on her face. Carly approaches her and asks her if she is o.k. Liz asks her to leave her alone and manages to drop some papers on the floor. Carly bends down to pick some papers up for her and Liz tells her she is fine and doesn't need her help. Carly notices the papers are about abortion and realizes Liz is pregnant with Ric's child. Liz doesn't want to talk to Carly about it but listens as Carly tells her she wanted to get an abortion when she was pregnant the first time with Sonny's baby back when she hated him but that even though she miscarried she had felt the emptiness despite how she felt about the baby's father. She advises Liz to think carefully and not to rush her decision because of how she hates Ric.

Courtney waits at the park for Ric. Jason catches up to her there to go over the plan. Courtney gets nervous with him being there when Ric is expected. Ric sees them talking but doesn't know what they are saying. Jason takes off. Ric comes up to her and makes a remark. Courtney looks at him with cold eyes. Jason calls Sonny while watching them from the bushes. Sonny gives Jason the go-ahead for their plan. Ric talks to Courtney about their engagement and starts to come on to her. Courtney pulls away from him but agrees to go to his apartment with him. Jason watches from the bushes. He calls Sonny to give him an update.

Ric takes Courtney back to his place and starts to come on to her. Courtney fights off his advances. Ric takes the tire iron out of its hiding place and tells Courtney that he overheard her talking to Jason about the evidence he has on him. He tells her that she blew it and calls Scott and asks him to come over because he has evidence to prove that Jason is a murderer. Courtney tries to distract him to grab the tire iron on the desk. Ric grabs it away from her and starts to get a little rough with her. Jason comes in and points a gun at Ric, telling him to hand over the tire iron or he will shoot him. Ric tells him that the police are already on their way and that shooting him will just get him charged with murder. Scott and the police show up and bang on the door. Ric doesn't answer them at first. Jason grabs the tire iron and takes off without Courtney. Scott and the cops barge in and ask Ric where the evidence is. Ric tells them that Jason just came there and pulled a gun on him and took off with the evidence out the back way. The cops go looking for Jason but return with no sign of Jason or the evidence. Courtney tells Scott that there is no evidence and that Ric is setting up Jason to get revenge against him and Sonny. Sonny shows up to tell Scott to arrest Ric for setting him and Jason up and for wasting the cops time by setting up false government documents and a false raid. Scott isn't too happy with Ric and warns him not to waste any more of his time and that he better have solid evidence next time or he will have him arrested. Scott refuses to arrest Ric on Sonny's say so. Scott takes off with the cops. Sonny tells Courtney to go back home and he will handle Ric. Courtney takes off the ring and throws it at Ric. Sonny asks Ric why he is trying to get revenge against him when it doesn't work and suggests Ric concentrate on his own personal life and be with Liz if he loves her instead of wasting his life trying to get back at him because of some choice their mother made 30 years ago. Ric warns him not to mention Liz to him right now. Sonny takes off.

Ric goes to GH. He runs into Faith. He warns her to stay away from Liz or he will kill her for real this time. Faith is turned on by his threats. Ric shows up at Liz's room with flowers. Liz thinks that Carly told him about the pregnancy and blurts out that she is not going through with the pregnancy. Ric is stunned and asks her if she is pregnant with his baby. Liz realizes he didn't know and asks him why he came. He tells her that Bobbie called him and told him she was at the hospital and should go see her. As Ric proclaimed his love for her, Faith was outside the hospital room, hearing everything. Elizabeth rejected Ric, telling him he puts on a good act when he wants something. Ric told Elizabeth that his vendetta against Sonny is over, and after telling her how much he wants them to raise the baby together and become a real family, she softened a bit but told Ric that she doesn't think he'll change. After Ric left to tell Sonny about the vendetta being over, Elizabeth told the nurse she'd changed her mind about the abortion. Faith caught up with Ric and told him that he'd never be satisfied with someone as boring or uninspiring as Elizabeth, but Ric told her he loves Elizabeth and that she's expecting their baby. He also warned Faith not to harm Elizabeth in any way or else she's dead. Walking past the docks, Elizabeth was nearly pistol whipped by Faith, who ducked away when she saw Emily approaching. Elizabeth told Emily that she's pregnant and that even though Ric Lansing's a nightmare at times, she can't stop loving him.

As Faith eavesdropped, Elizabeth told Emily about her pregnancy and the situation with Ric. Emily told Liz about the cancer and her fears over what chemotherapy treatments would do to her. Elizabeth tried to instill hope in Emily and make her feel more positive, but suggested that Emily tell Zander the whole truth. Later, Faith approached the two outside of "Kelly's", and after Faith threatened Liz, Emily informed Faith that Jason Morgan's her brother and that if Elizabeth's harmed, Jason would make Faith "disappear". After Faith threatened Emily, Emily slapped her across the face. Faith left, but not before telling Elizabeth she's "accident-prone".

At the penthouse, Ric denied any involvement in drug dealing at "The Cellar", then told Sonny and Carly that as of now, the vendetta he had against Sonny is over and that he realizes what's important in life: his love for Elizabeth and their baby she's carrying. After he called a truce, Ric told Sonny he'd understand if Sonny didn't want him in his life as a brother or as a friend. Ric returned to his apartment and found Elizabeth waiting outside. He told her about calling a truce with Sonny and that she and the baby are the most important people in his life. When he proposed to her, he was surprised when she smiled and accepted. They kissed and he carried her into his apartment. After the door shut, Faith approached Ric's door with a very determined expression on her face. Later, Sonny, Carly and Michael left their building. In a happy mood, they were about to approach their limousine when an explosion rocked the area.

The next morning, Ric declares he plans to spoil Elizabeth rotten. When Ric goes in to the next room for a special surprise, Liz gets the morning paper from the front door and sees the news that someone tried to blow up Sonny's car. When Ric returns, Liz asks him what he has done. Ric assures Liz that he had nothing to do with the car bomb and Ric finally succeeds in convincing Liz that the only thing that counts is how much Ric loves Elizabeth. Ric brings out his surprise, a marriage license ready to go. He tells Liz that he would like to get married that very day! Elizabeth finally agrees, but tells Ric that she wants to wear a special dress and take a few frilly things with her. Ric agrees. After Liz leaves to pack for their elopement, Ric orders a bridal bouquet to take with them. Elizabeth's bridal bouquet is delivered.

After Ric takes the bouquet inside, Max and another of Sonny's goons push their way in and grab Ric. In the struggle that follows, the bridal bouquet gets trampled on the floor. Later, at Sonny's Penthouse, Sonny accuses Ric of being behind the bombing. Ric protests his innocence, but to no avail! Sonny refuses to believe that Ric had nothing to do with the bombing and reminds Ric that Sonny has no reason to believe anything Ric has to say. Ric brazenly admits that he once would have considered it a victory if Sonny killed his own brother and then had to live the rest of his life with the guilt but Ric argues that all of that is behind Ric as Ric plans his new life with Elizabeth! In the meantime, Elizabeth returns to Ric's apartment, all packed for their elopement. But she finds the apartment empty and discovers the battered bouquet on the floor. At Sonny's Penthouse, Sonny orders max to get rid of Ric. As Max holds Ric at gunpoint, Sonny suddenly gets a call from a mystery caller, who announces to Sonny: "The limo explosion was proof we can get to you any time, Corinthos. We will be contacting you soon to open negotiations." Sonny orders the caller to stay away from his family, but the caller hangs up.

Faith shows up at Ric's place. Liz is there waiting anxiously for Ric to return. Faith sees that Liz is wearing a white dress. She tells Liz that she shouldn't bother waiting for Ric to return and that she is only a distraction to him while he gets revenge on Sonny. Liz disagrees with her and tries to get her to leave. Faith tells her that even if she marries Ric, she will not be happy since she will always wonder what he is doing when he isn't at home with her. Liz turns the tables on her about what her agenda is with Ric. She asks Faith how desperate is she to have a man who doesn't want her or only had a one-night stand with her. Meanwhile, Ric tries to convince Sonny that he had nothing to do with the car bombing or the drug set-up at Carly's club. Sonny has Max keep a gun on him and insists that he tell him the truth about what his involvement is with the car bombing. Sonny gets a call from anonymous caller who takes credit for the bombing. Ric tells him he doesn't know anything about it and that he meant what he said about stopping his vendetta against him and moving on with his life. Ric tells him he intends to marry Liz as soon as possible and now that they are expecting a baby he is making her his top priority. Sonny lets him go. Ric returns to his place to find Liz chewing out Faith. Ric kisses Liz and asks her if they are still getting married. Liz tells him she is. Faith is totally disgusted and asks Liz if she is actually buying his act of love. Ric tells Faith that he understands how she may be distrustful of his love of Liz because of how he went after Sonny but tells her that Liz is the woman he loves and that she isn't half the woman Liz is and that he is going to marry Liz. Faith grabs Liz's bouquet that she had already ripped pieces off of and throws it at Liz and wishes her luck and tells her not to say she wasn't warned about Ric. Liz and Ric go to see a Justice of the Peace. The justice of the Peace and his wife are very warm and kind and offer Liz a bouquet to use for the ceremony. Liz and Ric say their own vows and Ric surprises her when he pulls out three rings, including a diamond ring for her as well. The Justice of the Peace blesses the rings and hands them to them to put on. They are pronounced husband and wife. Faith hangs around Ric's place in despair for him marrying Liz and throws the bouquet around in anger.

Ric surprises Liz with breakfast and plans for a honeymoon in Italy and France. Liz is happy and the newlyweds share an intimate moment that is witnessed by Faith, who happens to have snuck into their apartment. Ric leaves for a while. Faith shows up and knocks on the door. Liz asks who it is before deciding whether to open it or not. Faith identifies herself and tells her that she didn't come over to harm her but to warn her that she has information that Sonny is going to kill Ric and has put out a hit on him in retaliation for the car bomb. Liz doesn't know whether to believe her and worries for Ric's safety. She calls Sonny and asks him to meet her near his penthouse building. Sonny reluctantly agrees to meet with her. Shortly after Sonny leaves, Courtney shows up with some potato chips for Carly and the two talk about the danger in the business their men are in. Ric shows up looking for Sonny. He tells them that he married Liz last night and that he wanted Sonny to know that. Carly tells him that Sonny is meeting with Liz right now and tells him there whereabouts. Faith follows Liz to the meeting place and watches her talk to Sonny. Liz asks Sonny to promise not to kill Ric as a favor he owes her for when she was there when Carly was brought into the hospital and she helped him. Sonny informs her that he doesn't owe her anything anymore. Liz tells him that she is married to Ric now and that Ric isn't a threat to him anymore and had nothing to do with the car bombing or drug set-up. Sonny doesn't really believe it and calls Ric a rapist and killer and that he doesn't believe he is a good person. Sonny walks away and heads back into the building of his penthouse. Liz walks toward the stairs in despair and Faith runs behind her and pushes her down the stairs. Faith goes down the stairs and looks at Liz and nudges her with her toe to see she is unconscious. Ric finds Liz later at the bottom of the stairs. Sonny returns home and tells Jason about Ric and Liz's marriage and how he use to think Liz was a good girl but now she sounds and acts just like Ric.

After Ric found Elizabeth at the bottom of the stairs, he carried her to "Kelly's" where an ambulance was called. At the hospital, Elizabeth murmured Sonny's name as Ric looked on. After her examination, Liz was assigned a room and told that she and the baby seemed to be okay. Liz told Ric about her meeting with Sonny, and that the last thing she remembers is Sonny being very irate with her. Ric ran into Carly in the corridor, where Carly told Ric she's sorry about Elizabeth's condition. When Ric told her how much Elizabeth and the baby mean to him, Carly pointed out that Sonny felt the same way about HIS family when Ric was on the offense. When Sonny popped in to see Elizabeth, she asked him if his hate for Ric compelled him to push her down the stairs. As Elizabeth was getting worked up, she slowly got out the bed, but as she tried to stand, she doubled over in pain. She screamed in pain as Sonny tried to support her with his arms. Just then, Ric entered the room and was shocked at what he was seeing. Ric accused Sonny of upsetting Elizabeth, then asked Sonny if he pushed Elizabeth down the stairs, but Sonny insisted he never laid a hand on her. Elizabeth miscarried. Later, Sonny and Carly expressed their condolences to Ric. With a strange sense of calm about him, Ric told Sonny that the truce between then still exists, that there'd be no war between them. Ric overheard Dr. Meadows talking with Carly, who was overjoyed at the prospect of having a healthy baby. A preoccupied Ric was approached by a nurse, who told him that Elizabeth wasn't permanently damaged and would be able to have a child again someday. After the nurse left, Ric looked down at a sleeping Elizabeth and murmured that they would have a child very soon!

Ric brings Elizabeth home from the Hospital, but Elizabeth's enthusiasm about being home is quickly dampened when she spots the teddy bear she got for the baby. Ric apologizes for leaving the bear out, but Liz tells Ric that they must talk about the lost baby. As Liz breaks down in tears, Ric consoles Liz and promises her that the time will come soon enough for them to have their own family. Ric puts the bear on the mantle above the fireplace, next to the picture of Ric's family's summer cottage. Ric tells Liz that they will keep the bear there, in honor of what they lost and of what they still have! Later, Ric quizzes Elizabeth about her dream home. As the two newlyweds make plans for their future, they are interrupted by Faith, who comes bearing flowers, claiming she is making a condolence call! As Elizabeth turns away, Faith grabs Liz's shoulder and Liz has a sudden memory of the night she fell. But Ric returns and orders Faith to get out! When Elizabeth goes into the next room to change, Ric tells Faith that he is trying to put the past behind him, but Faith hints that Faith KNOWS that Sonny was responsible for the death of Ric and Elizabeth's baby! Ric again tells Faith that, if she still wants revenge on Sonny, she is on her own from now on. Ric tosses the flowers outside into the hall and hustles Faith out after them. After Ric slams the door, Faith tramples the flowers and kicks them up against the door. Later, when Liz is asleep, Ric meets with a real estate agent and describes Elizabeth's dream house but Ric also specifies that the house Ric is looking for must have a 'panic' room, that is completely soundproof so that if a bomb went off no one could possibly hear a sound!

Ric calls his realtor to tell her that he is going to look at the house she found for him and to meet him there. He arrives at the new house with a gift bag in his hand. He asks the realtor if she got the feature he most wanted for the house. She shows him the secret panic room. Inside the room is two tv security monitors and reassures him that the room is soundproof and he can see several rooms in the house through the monitors. Ric shows Liz the house later and asks for her opinion. She tells him she likes it and so he tells her he bought it already. Afterwards, he goes into the panic room while Liz is upstairs. He watches her from the monitor and tests the soundproof feature by calling out loudly from the room. There is no response from Liz. Ric takes out the gift bag and hangs the baby mobile he stole from Carly and vows to have a baby be in this house soon. This baby mobile is the same one that Carly frets about when she gets home and can't find it.

Ric watched Elizabeth from their new house's secret room. Elizabeth answered a knock on the door and was annoyed to see Faith. Elizabeth told her that she was not afraid of her and to stop coming around. She and Faith exchanged heated words until Ric intervened. He ordered Faith to leave. Later when he dropped Elizabeth at work, he asked her to quit Kelly's, informing her that he had set up an art gallery for her. Elizabeth was thrilled and grateful. Since Bobbie was not around, Elizabeth called Carly and asked her to come to Kelly's. Already irritated at being called there, Carly was ever more irritated at Elizabeth quitting with no notice. Carly and Elizabeth expressed their mutual dislike and agreed to stay out of each other's way. Ric arrived after Elizabeth left while Carly was rearranging Kelly's' waitress schedule. When Carly finished she looked out the window for her driver, who was nowhere to be seen. Ric offered her a ride home. Carly informed him that she would accept nothing from him and demanded to know what he was up to. Ric told her he was only trying to make peace. Carly ordered him to stay away from her if he wanted to keep the peace. After Ric left, Faith approached Carly and warned her that Ric's plans for revenge were not dead. Carly went home and filled Sonny in on Ric's actions and Faith's comments. Bothered to see Carly so upset, Sonny went off and found Faith. He asked Faith what Ric's plan for revenge was, reminding her that he had let her live.

Ric returned to his new house, where he fell asleep on the coach with Elizabeth. Ric muttered Sonny's name in his sleep and forcefully grabbed Elizabeth when he awoke with a start. Elizabeth wakes Ric up and reports that her new husband threatened to kill Sonny while talking in his sleep. Ric apologizes to Elizabeth and tells her it was just a flash back to his past and that he is positive it will pass in time. Elizabeth assures Ric that no one could be angry with him about something that happened in a dream and that she understands the depth of Ric's grief. Ric reassures Elizabeth that his relationship with Liz is now more important to him than his past hatred for Sonny. As Ric and Elizabeth talk about their lost baby, Ric promises Elizabeth that they will eventually have the family that they had planned. Liz is thrilled by Ric's fine speech and promises. However, after Elizabeth goes to take a shower, Ric visits his 'panic' room and puts away Carly's mobile. When Liz gets out of the shower, Ric again confirms his undying love for Elizabeth and they hit the sheets again. After Elizabeth goes to sleep, Ric has another dream about Sonny pushing Elizabeth down the stairs and then grinning about his work. Ric gets up and goes outside, where Ric runs into a lurking Faith! Faith then 'warns' Ric that Sonny is on the warpath and lied to Ric about a truce. Faith reports that Sonny just threatened to kill Faith if she would not spy on Ric and report to Sonny! Faith claims that Sonny is convinced that Ric is still plotting to get Sonny. Faith then warns Ric to keep an eye on Elizabeth, in case Sonny has another 'accident' planned for Ric's new wife! Faith insists that she is risking her life to warn Ric rather than spying on Ric as Sonny demanded. Faith argues that Ric needs an ally like Faith if Ric wants to protect himself from Sonny. Ric orders Faith to leave, but Faith reminds Ric that, IF Ric continues to turn down Faith's help, Ric will probably end up dead. After Faith leaves, Ric returns to the 'Panic' Room and vows that he will replace the baby that he and Elizabeth just lost with Sonny and Carly's baby!

Sonny heads over to see Ric. Elizabeth opens a package delivered to the house. She thinks it is a wedding gift from her grandmother. She opens it just as Ric comes in the room. He sees what it is and tries to stop her from opening it but it is too late. Inside is a baby blanket and a stuffed toy duck with it. He tells her that he had ordered it a week ago and that he forgot to cancel the order after her miscarriage. Liz understands and is okay with the mistake. Liz leaves the room. Ric takes the blanket and toy and brings it into the secret room to store it there. While he is in the secret room, Elizabeth answers the door to find Sonny there. He asks to speak to Ric about something. Liz tells him that Ric has been home all week and that he hasn't gone anywhere or done anything against him. Sonny assures her that it isn't about that at all. Ric watches Sonny and Elizabeth together. He is stuck in the secret room since Sonny is right there in the living room. Liz looks all around for Ric and tells Sonny that his car is still in the driveway and doesn't know where he went. Sonny tells her he can wait. She asks him if he can move something heavy into the other room for her. Ric uses this opportunity to come out of the secret room and close it before they come back into the room. Ric calls out to Liz. Liz and Sonny return and Ric pretends he is surprised by Sonny's visit. He assures him that he is keeping his promise to call a truce. Sonny asks him about Alcazar and if he had any partners or relatives who worked for him. Ric doesn't know anything like that but does know that Alcazar use to visit some place up in the mountains in South America. Sonny takes that information back with him to Jason.

Jason goes to Ric's house and barges in with his goon Max. Jason grabs Ric by the throat and demands to know what he did to Sonny (this time it wasn't Ric, but Alcazar who kidnapped Sonny). Jason lets go of Ric and takes off. Ric comforts Liz, who hates what Jason does for a living. He tells her that he and Sonny will get what is coming to them eventually. Faith shows up and warns Ric about hiding Sonny out somewhere. Ric informs her that she can tell him everything in front of Liz if she wants. Ric informs Faith that he had nothing to do with Sonny's disappearance and that he is his brother and wishes him no harm. Liz had bothered him by asking him to tell her the truth if he did have something to do with Sonny's disappearance. He assured her that he had nothing to do with this and that he wants to concentrate on her and trying to have a baby. Liz points out that she may be carrying another baby right now for all she knows. Ric heard a knock at the door and Lorenzo, Alcazar's brother, introduced himself. He told Ric he was destroying Sonny and offered Ric Sonny's empire. Obviously tempted, Ric saw Elizabeth in a mirror eavesdropping and declined the offer. After Lorenzo left, Ric convinced Elizabeth that he had no desire to subject himself and her to Sonny's lifestyle. Elizabeth painted while Ric visited his secret room.

Carly is having severe cramping. Ric calls the penthouse and Michael answers the phone and tells Ric what is going on. Ric tells the child to call 911 and ask for an ambulance. Carly awoke in her hospital bed, startled to find Ric standing there. Carly became hysterical, demanding to know what Ric was up to. Ric tried to convince her that he had made peace with Sonny, but Carly screamed until Elizabeth came running in to see what was wrong. Elizabeth was shocked to find Ric in Carly's room. Carly continued yelling at Ric until he and Elizabeth left. Elizabeth asked Ric why he was in Carly's room, and he told her that he had called shortly after she fell. When asked why he called Carly in the first place, Ric told Elizabeth that he only intended to reassure Carly that he had nothing to do with Sonny's reappearance. They returned to the cottage. Ric quickly closed the door after realizing the door to the secret room was open. He managed to distract Elizabeth so he could close the door without her seeing it. Still discussing Sonny and Carly, Ric slipped that he blamed Sonny for the loss of their baby. Elizabeth insisted on knowing the truth about his intentions, but Ric insisted that he was not going after Sonny, that he blamed himself equally for causing Elizabeth to want to meet with Sonny in the first place. Later, Lorenzo called looking for Ric when he wasn't home. Lorenzo asked Elizabeth to tell Ric that he was giving him another chance to accept his offer.

As Jason and Courtney's wedding rehearsal gets under way, Ric watches from a hiding place. Ric comes home to find Elizabeth drawing a sketch with her headphones on. He gives her a gift. Her hands are all chalk and so he opens the box for her and reveals a pretty blue summer dress for her. She thanks him and he suggests she go upstairs and try it on. While she goes upstairs, Ric goes into the secret panic room. He pours two glasses of wine. He takes a pill out of the bottle and crushes it into Elizabeth's glass. She comes downstairs and models the dress for him. He hands her the glass of wine and she drinks it. A little while after, she starts to feel a little light headed and thinks it is because she skipped lunch to work on her drawing. Ric tells her to finish drinking it. Ric and Elizabeth start kissing and make love. Elizabeth falls into a drug-induced sleep on the couch next to Ric. Ric gets dressed and hopes that she wakes up later, thinking they both slept through the night. Ric heads to the church. Alcazar and one of his men show up at Ric's house. They knock on the door but there is no answer. They look through the window and see Elizabeth laying on the couch and not moving. Alcazar breaks into the house and the two of them check for signs of Ric being around. Alcazar goes over and checks Elizabeth's pulse and breathing. He sees no sign of drugs around and his goon doesn't find any bottles around either. Alcazar guesses that she overdosed on something probably and decides to leave her there but puts the phone next to her and dials 911 for her and plan to let Ric know that they came and played hero and saved his wife so they can use it to get him to cooperate later. A 911 operator talks through the phone but there is no answer. The dispatcher talks through the phone and says that help is on its way to her soon. Elizabeth is still unconscious through it all.

At the church on the day of the wedding, Ric spy's on Carly on them in the dressing room. When the opportunity arises, Ric grabs Carly and returns home with her. He sees Liz laying on the couch but doesn't realize that the phone is next to her and the ambulance is on its way. He takes Carly into the panic room and lays her on the cot. Carly wakes up feeling groggy from having been drugged and sees Ric and starts to yell. The 911 dispatcher talks on the phone and assures them help is on the way, Ric still is unaware that the police and ambulance have been called. When Carly fought him, he expressed concern for the baby. On the surveillance screens Ric saw the police at the door. He quickly changed into a robe and answered the door, pretending to have just awoken. He told Garcia that he and Elizabeth had knocked over the phone while making love, but that they were both fine. Garcia insisted on coming inside to verify that the 911 call wasn't deliberate. Ric woke up Elizabeth, who was still passed out on the couch. Ric made it appear as if they had consumed a bottle of wine to explain the groggy effect the drugs had on Elizabeth. After the police left, Elizabeth was surprised when Ric told her they had made love although she didn't remember it. Ric returned to the secret room. Carly fought her way into the living room, but fell to Ric again when she tripped and fell. Her screams could not be heard by Elizabeth, who was in the shower. Back in the secret room, Ric told Carly about his plans to give her baby to Elizabeth.

Jason searched the house while Elizabeth told Sonny that Ric had nothing to do with Carly's disappearance. Ric gagged Carly and slipped back into the living room. Ric pretended to be surprised about Carly's disappearance, but Sonny and Jason didn't believe him. They left but vowed to return. While Elizabeth went to get take-out, Ric seized the opportunity to visit Carly again. He untied her and asked her to be calm for the baby's sake. Carly tried to hit him but Ric easily overpowered her. Carly vowed to kill Ric herself if Sonny's didn't after this was all over.

Carly tries to find a way to defeat the shackles Ric had provided for her. Then, Carly realizes that she can pry loose some of the metal netting holding up her mattress and goes to work, trying to pry open the lock on the leg shackle. Meanwhile, on the monitor, Carly watches as Elizabeth announces to Ric that she just took a pregnancy test but it was negative. Ric assures Elizabeth that he does not want her to put any pressure on herself but Liz confides that she loves seeing the paternal side of Ric come out. Liz guesses that something is bothering her husband and that it probably has something to do with Sonny. But Ric assures his wife that he is fine. When Liz leaves to visit her grandmother, Ric checks on his prisoner and suspects that Carly is up to something. Carly distracts Ric by reminding Ric of the way Ric is fooling his wife and predicts that Elizabeth will leave Ric as soon as Liz discovers what Ric has done this time. Ric reminds Carly that, since it was Sonny who caused Elizabeth's miscarriage, it is Sonny who owes Liz a baby in exchange for the baby who was lost! Carly asks what will happen if Liz IS pregnant again and Ric assures his prisoner that he has thought of everything and Ric leaves. When the doorbell rings, Ric admits a very agitated Faith, who reports that Jason is threatening Faith unless she comes up with a tip on Carly's whereabouts. But Ric again denies knowing anything and insists that Ric is honoring the truce between Sonny and himself. Faith warns Ric that Jason Morgan is like a wild animal! A member of Jason's pack is missing and Jason will not rest until he finds her! Faith urges Ric to give Carly back to Sonny and throw himself on his brother's mercy. But Ric just orders Faith to leave. Later, Faith runs into Elizabeth on the docks and accuses Ric of snatching Carly! Ric returns to the Panic Room and realizes that Carly has slipped out of her bonds. Carly hits Ric on the back of the head, then runs to the phone in the living room and dials Sonny. But Ric recovers and heads for Carly, just as Sonny picks up his phone and hears Carly's voice!

Elizabeth has a run-in with Faith on the docks on her way home. Faith tells her that Ric kidnapped Carly and that he wouldn't have done that if she had not lost the baby. Liz tells her that Ric did no such thing and to stay out of their lives. Faith grabs her by the arm to stop her from leaving. Lucky shows up and catches Faith and tells her to go away. Faith makes a remark about needing Ric if she has Lucky around to protect her. After Faith leaves Lucky asks her what she has gotten herself into now by being married to Ric. He feels protective of her and worries about her safety and whether to trust Ric after what he has done. He tells her that revenge isn't easy to just stop and that people do things for revenge that they never thought they would do. Elizabeth thanks him for his concern but defends Ric and tells him that he stopped his vendetta against Sonny when he fell in love with her. Lucky wishes her the best in her new life.

Ric comes into the panic room and is caught off guard by Carly who comes up behind him and hits him over the head with something and runs out of the room to get help. She runs to the phone and calls Sonny on his cell-phone. Sonny answers while he is at G.H. and hears Carly yelling in the phone for him to help her. Ric gets to her before she can tell him who has her and the phone disconnects. Ric holds her down and drags her into the panic room, kicking and screaming. Later, Ric brings in a tray with food for her to eat. Carly refuses to eat it. Ric gets impatient with her and tells her that the baby needs nourishment but Carly refuses to eat the food. He tells her that the baby will be his and Elizabeth's not hers after the baby is born. Carly refuses to eat it. She upsets him when she mentions that the person he will answer to as well as Sonny is Elizabeth, who will leave him when she finds out what he has done and that Elizabeth can't handle any problems like this since she couldn't handle Jason's life either. Carly watches the monitor and sees Elizabeth on her way inside the front door. When Ric opens the panic room to exit, Carly runs over to the doorway quickly and hollers loudly to Elizabeth to get her attention. Elizabeth comes into the house and asks Ric what that noise was. Ric feigns ignorance. Elizabeth tells him that she thought she heard someone yell her name but thinks maybe she just imagined it. Ric notices she is tense and asks her what is wrong. She tells him about her run-in with Faith and how Faith accused him of being Carly's kidnapper and how it was her fault for what happened with the baby. Ric distracts Elizabeth with his touches and she soon forgets about the yelling she thought she heard. Later, Ric goes in to check on Carly in the secret room. He insists she eat her lunch and hands a sandwich to her. Carly hurls the plate at him and tells him that she will starve herself and her baby to keep him from having Sonny's baby. Elizabeth comes into the room and sees no sign of Ric. She calls out to him but there is no answer. Elizabeth turns on the t.v. and hears a report about Carly's kidnapping. She turns the t.v. off and is disturbed by what is going on.

Ric waits until Elizabeth is not in the room and goes to check on Carly and give her a lunch of pizza. Carly refuses to eat it and instead taunts him about his plan backfiring and how he will lose Elizabeth forever when she finds out what he has done. Ric tries to hide his unease by telling her that Elizabeth will never find out. Elizabeth walks into the living room and calls to Ric, who doesn't answer. The phone rings and it is Lorenzo Alcazar. He asks her if Ric is home but she tells him he isn't. He asks her if she is doing ok. She tells him she is fine. He tells her that the last time he saw her she was a little indisposed. Elizabeth wonders what he means by that but dismisses it for now. He tells her that he has a matter of mutual interest to discuss with Ric and would like him to call him back when he gets home. Carly eyes the pizza and decides she is too hungry not to eat it. Ric checks on her later and sees she ate the pizza and is pleased that he won that battle. Carly tells him not to get too smug and reminds him that what he is doing is crazy and tries to appeal to him by using Elizabeth to get through to him and try to get him to let her go. Ric refuses to change his plans and tells her that Sonny deserves to lose his child just like he made Elizabeth lose theirs. Carly tells him he is twisted and won't get away with this. Ric asks her to stop mentioning Elizabeth's name to him anymore. Carly taunts him and whispers Elizabeth's name in a chant to bother him. Elizabeth returns home and calls out to Ric. Ric comes in the living room and tells her he just came from the woods where he had some business to take care of and the place allows him to work better. Elizabeth mentions Alcazar's phone call and how it disturbed her. Ric tells her that Alcazar probably didn't mean anything by what he said. Elizabeth accepts it. Ric gives her a gun when she tells him she has to go to some gallery to meet with someone. She refuses to take the gun for protection but he tells her that with Carly's kidnapping it would ease his mind if she took the gun with her. Elizabeth agrees to take it.

Ric calls Alcazar on the phone. Alcazar asks him to meet with him on the docks. Ric meets him there. Ric meets with Alcazar. Lorenzo tells him that he knows that he kidnapped Carly. He blackmails him into working with him or he will tell Sonny what he knows. Ric agrees to work with him and tells him that he isn't concerned about Carly but that it is the baby he cares about. Sonny and Max show up and confront them. Max holds a gun on them and Sonny tells them that he knew it was one of them who kidnapped his wife but he never realized they would be working together. Sonny questioned Lorenzo and Ric on the docks. Lorenzo told Sonny he was simply seeking Ric's legal services on retainer. Ric informed Sonny that he had no interest in either Sonny or Lorenzo and just wanted to live his life.

At the penthouse, Courtney reads a story to Michael. Michael starts to remember more about Carly's kidnapping and remembers it was Ric who took her. He tells Courtney what he remembers. Later, Jason shows up at Ric's house. Carly sees him on the monitor and begs him to find her. Jason gets into the house and no one is there except her. Jason looks around and is about to leave the house when Carly gets upset and tries to get his attention. She takes the metal food tray and smashes it into the monitor. The sparks from the monitor hit the tray she is holding and she gets an electric shock and falls to the floor unconscious. The electricity in the house goes out and this gets Jason's attention. He calls out to Carly but gets no answer. Elizabeth enters the house and points a gun at Jason and threatens to use it if he moves. Jason calmed Elizabeth down and told her that Ric took Carly, though Elizabeth continued to insist that Ric could not have done such a thing. Courtney called Jason to tell him that Michael had said that Ric took Carly. Jason told Elizabeth to be careful and rushed to the penthouse.

Ric returned home and was surprised to find the electricity out. Elizabeth jumped out from hiding and told him about Jason's visit. Ric reassured her that he would never hold a woman against her will, especially a pregnant woman. Elizabeth, wanting to believe his words, fell into his arms. Ric panicked when he realized the secret door wouldn't open without power. The power company came to get the power back on. On his way out, the technician told Ric that something major had caused all the fuses to blow. Concerned for Carly, Ric rushed Elizabeth out to her studio, asking her to go there and be safe while he checked out the house. Once alone, Ric rushed into the secret room and found Carly unconscious on the floor. She awoke but was in great pain. Realizing she and the baby could be seriously hurt, Ric picked her up and promised to get her the proper care. Carly awoke in a doctor's office with Ric at her side. Ric told her he would set her free once she saw the doctor. Ric disappeared as the doctor came in to see Carly, but the room was empty. The doctor caught up with Carly in the hallway and immediately recognized her from the newspaper. Her persuaded her to return to the exam room. He told her that she and the baby were fine but needed a shot of vitamins. Carly begged him to call Sonny, and he promised to right after giving her the shot. Carly passed out and when she awoke she was back in Ric's secret room, but with Lorenzo. She told Lorenzo that Ric was crazy and that it was in his better interest to return her to Sonny and have Sonny in his debt than form an alliance with a madman. Ric entered the room and asked Carly to eat something, but she refused. The two men exited.

At Ric's Place, Elizabeth makes some special lemonade for Ric and complains that the air conditioning is still not working in her attic studio. Carly watches in disgust as Ric assures Elizabeth that everything he has done has been done for Elizabeth. After Elizabeth leaves the house to oversee her gallery showing, Ric gets ready to enter the Panic Room just as Faith comes to the door and peeks in at the window. Ric spots Faith when he glances in the mirror before he opens the Panic Room. Rushing to the door, Ric orders Faith to leave! But, Faith argues that she came to warn Ric that Sonny is on the warpath and argues that Ric needs a savvy partner like Faith if Ric plans to get away with snatching Carly. But Ric again denies having anything to do with Carly's disappearance. As Faith and Ric argue, Mac suddenly arrives to question Ric and Faith about Carly's disappearance. After Ric again denies any involvement, Mac tells Ric and Faith that Michael has remembered what he saw when Carly disappeared, but Faith interrupts and points out that the Five Families believe it is easier for them to operate when Sonny is distracted and that, perhaps, one of them snatched Carly to keep Ric distracted. Faith suggests that Mac question Sammy Tagliatti. After Mac leaves, Carly gloats in the Panic Room that Ric's dirty deeds are finally catching up with him. Faith reminds Ric that she just saved his skin by providing Mac with a new suspect, Faith notices the lemonade on the coffee table. Ric repeats that he owes Faith nothing and hustles Faith out the door, as Faith tries to get chummy. After Ric finally shoves his unwelcome visitor out the door and slams the door in her face, Faith secretly gloats as she fingers Ric's house keys! After Ric leaves, Faith uses the keys to return to the house and slips some poison into the lemonade, as Carly watches, transfixed, via the panic Room monitors. Later, when Ric returns to the Panic Room with some groceries for Carly and tries to persuade Carly to eat, Carly reports to Ric that she saw Faith poison the lemonade and reminds Ric of the mysterious way that Faith's grandmother and then the shooter at the Cellar mysteriously died of 'natural causes.' When Ric scoffs at Carly's concerns, Carly proves her point by informing Ric that his household keys are missing. As Ric searches for his keys and realizes that they are missing, Ric sees Elizabeth return home and watches as his wife pours herself a glass of lemonade. Carly urges Ric to open the door and warn Elizabeth not to drink the lemonade, but Ric believes it is all a trick Carly cooked up to escape. Ric theorizes that Carly plans to scream when Ric opens the door and reveals the Panic Room to Elizabeth! As Ric continues to refuse to open the door, Liz drinks from the glass of lemonade.

Carly tells Ric that she saw Faith poison the lemonade out in the living room. Ric doesn't want to believe it and thinks Carly is trying to trick him into opening the door to the panic room so she can scream out to Elizabeth as he tries to go and stop her from drinking the lemonade. Carly can't believe he is willing to take the chance that Elizabeth will drink the lemonade and be poisoned and not stop it because he is afraid of what she will do and that it is a trick. Carly insists Faith poisoned the lemonade and fears for Liz when she sees her pour a glass of lemonade and drink some of it. She tells him that he knows that Faith poisoned her own grandmother and some other person before. Elizabeth takes a drink and starts to feel weird. She passes out on the floor after holding her chest. Ric opens up the room and goes to her. He checks her pulse and calls 911 and starts to panic. Carly watches from the panic room. At the hospital, Mac finds Ric waiting for news on Elizabeth's condition. He tells him that the toxicology report on Liz shows that she ingested some rare type of poison. He asks him if anyone was in the house other than him and Liz. He tells him there wasn't anyone else in the house and that he found her after she drank some lemonade. A nurse comes over to tell Ric that Elizabeth is coming around and looks better. Ric goes to see her. He tells Elizabeth what happened. Liz tells him that all she remembers is drinking the lemonade and then feeling a burning in her lungs and then feeling that her lungs were numb and also thought she heard a woman call out her name. Ric tells her that she was poisoned and that he believes it was Faith since she tried to kill her before with the snake. Elizabeth feels scared for her life. Ric starts to cry and blames himself for what happened because his rejection of Faith is what caused her to go after her. Elizabeth tells him that it isn't his fault that Faith is crazy.

Later, Ric comes home alone. Carly watches him on the monitor and wonders what he is up to. The doorbell rings. He answers the door to find Faith there. He invites her in. He tells her that Elizabeth is not home and is working on her paintings. He acts friendly to Faith and she lets her guard down. Ric pours a glass of lemonade and starts to look like he is going to drink it. Faith grabs the glass out of his hands and asks him why he was going to drink it since he told her he doesn't like lemonade. He tells her he was thirsty and was going to drink it anyway. She tells him he can't drink it since she poisoned it. She admits she poisoned it for Elizabeth since she knew he wouldn't drink it but she would. Ric asks her if she tried to poison Elizabeth. Faith admits she did it since he belongs with someone like her who understands him and doesn't expect him to be the perfect little husband like Elizabeth does and that he would have grown tired of her anyway as his wife. Ric tells her that this secret isn't between the two of them anymore and Faith is surprised when Mac and a cop come into the room after hearing her admit she poisoned the lemonade. Mac places Faith under arrest. Carly watches this happen on the monitor and realizes her chances of getting out of there soon ended with Ric's quick thinking.

Mac questions Elizabeth at G.H. He starts to ask her if she noticed anything out of the ordinary at home and if Ric disappeared for any lengths of time. Liz realizes that he is really there to find out if Ric could have kidnapped Carly. Elizabeth tells him that she was there with Ric all night when Carly was kidnapped and that she would know if her husband had kidnapped another person. Meanwhile, Courtney shows up to talk to Elizabeth after Mac does. She is polite to Elizabeth and asks her how she is feeling. She tells her that Faith has been arrested and will pay for what she did to her. Courtney mentions that Michael claims he saw Ric at the church and that he kidnapped Carly. She does tell her that Michael did say he remembered after Jason told him Ric took her. Elizabeth tells her that Michael was wrong and that she was there with Ric the night Carly disappeared and that he goes home to bed with her every night and wakes up with her every morning and that his revenge against Sonny is done now. Courtney asks her if there is even a remote possibility that Ric has Carly and asks her to think with her head and not her heart this time. Elizabeth stays firm on Ric's innocence and points out that Jason is accusing Ric because he hates him and is threatened by him being Sonny's brother and wants to paint him as the bad guy again. Courtney can't deny that there is some truth to that and leaves.

Ric goes to see Elizabeth at her hospital room. She tells him that Mac and Courtney came by to talk to her and both questioned her about the possibility that he kidnapped Carly. She tells him that she knows he would never kidnap a pregnant woman, even Carly and tells him that she believes he is innocent. Ric thanks her for believing in him and they kiss. Ric had earlier been at his home and didn't like it when he caught Alcazar in the panic room trying to cut off a piece of Carly's hair. He tells him that he needs to stop coming to the house and checking on him when his wife will be coming home soon. Alcazar tells him he plans to make sure that Sonny and the police are sent on a wild goose chase and is using her hair to do it. After Ric left to see Liz, Alcazar tells her that she will remain in Port Charles in this room but that he is going to have her hair planted near some airport to get Sonny and the police on another track to buy himself some time.

Carly had tried to reason with Ric and persuade him to call Sonny and admit what he did to him and that he was sick about Liz's miscarriage and kidnapped her on impulse. She tells him that Sonny doesn't want to kill him and will show him mercy if he calls and admits what he did. Ric doesn't want to listen to her since he knows that what she is saying is right and that Alcazar's involvement is complicating things for him as well. Ric leaves the panic room and refuses to listen to her anymore. After Ric sees Liz at GH, he leaves her room and sees Jason heading toward her room. He gets in his face and warns him not to go and interrogate her about Carly's kidnapping and that she has been through enough. Jason grabs Ric and throws him against the wall. He puts him in a choke-hold and orders him to tell him where Carly is being held. Ric denies he has her. Courtney tries to stop him but Jason is too focused on threatening Ric with bodily harm. Jason beat Ric until Garcia pulled a gun on Jason and ordered him to release Ric. Elizabeth ran to Ric's side and yelled at Jason. Ric told Garcia that this was not the first time Jason had attacked him and that he wanted to press charges. Courtney tried to explain that Jason was under a great deal of stress with Carly's disappearance, but Jason was arrested and taken to police headquarters.

At the police department, Sonny spoke to Ric and told him that he believed that Ric had nothing to do with Carly's disappearance. Sonny asked Ric to drop the charges against Jason as a gesture of their truce. In return Sonny promised to make sure that Jason never bothered him again, and Ric agreed. Ric dropped the charges but filed a restraining order against Jason. Jason apologized to Sonny for losing his cool and promised to use more stealth next time. Jason was shocked when Sonny told him there wouldn't be a next time, that Jason was to leave Ric alone. Carly finds Lorenzo in the secret room with her while he has the secret door opened to leave. Carly, seeing Elizabeth unlocking the front door on the screen, tried to stall Lorenzo, but he managed to slip out before Elizabeth entered the house. Elizabeth demanded to know why Lorenzo was standing in her living room. She asked what business he had with Ric, but Lorenzo only replied by asking when Ric would be home. When Ric returned, Elizabeth told him about Lorenzo's visit and asked what business they had together. She told him how having someone like Lorenzo in their lives made her uncomfortable. Ric reassured her that it was merely a legitimate real estate transaction as Lorenzo was buying his old apartment. Carly watched on the screen as Elizabeth told Ric that they could conceive tonight. Ric insisted that Elizabeth needed her rest after her ordeal with the poisoning. Once Elizabeth slipped away to paint, Ric went into the secret room. Carly continued to try and work Ric, telling him that his plan could never work. Ric admitted that he wanted Sonny's baby more than his own with Elizabeth. He said he was saving his niece or nephew from life with a criminal. Carly reminded Ric that he was a criminal, having kidnapped her and kept her against her will. Carly warned him that Sonny would never stop looking for her. Ric told Carly she was not that hard to replace, that Sonny would move on once he accepted that she was gone, and then Ric left.

Elizabeth gets ready to go to a specialist for a check-up following her recent poison scare, on top of her fall down a flight of stairs. As Elizabeth asks Ric to join her for lunch, Ric begs off with the excuse that he has phone calls to make. When Elizabeth asks if the phone calls would be about Faith's speedy release from jail, Ric decides that maybe he should accompany his wife to the Hospital. But Elizabeth convinces her husband that meeting her for lunch will be fine. After Elizabeth leaves the house, Ric picks up the newspaper and takes it to Carly in the Panic Room and tries to convince Carly that Sonny has already given up looking for her and has already replaced her with a new companion. Carly confesses that she has already seen the news on the TV in the Panic Room. Ric is stunned when Lorenzo suddenly barges right into the Panic Room! Ric hustles Lorenzo out into the living room and Lorenzo turns off the monitor so Carly can't hear what they are talking about. Lorenzo reports that the police appear to be off on the wild goose chase that Alcazar set up with strands of Carly's hair. Ric orders Lorenzo to quit showing up at Ric's house unannounced, but Lorenzo refuses to even consider curtailing his movements. Lorenzo quizzes Ric about Faith Roscoe. Ric mentions that both Faith and Sonny have attempted to kill Elizabeth but, as far as Ric knows, that is about all that the two of them would have in common. Listening to Ric talk about Elizabeth, Lorenzo points out that Ric's love for his wife makes Ric vulnerable. Then Lorenzo coldly warns Ric to keep Elizabeth happy because, IF Elizabeth were to become too suspicious about her husband's activities, Lorenzo would regretfully need to "eliminate" Ric's wife! Later, when Ric tries to get Carly to eat, Ric admits that things are not turning out the way he planned when he kidnapped Carly. Carly begs Ric to just let her go, but Ric confides that turning Carly loose is no longer an option. When Carly reminds Ric that she believes he is insane, Ric points out that, while that may be true, Ric is the only friend Carly can count on right now.

Ric finally succeeds in getting Carly to eat, Carly cries on Ric's shoulder about her fear of being alone. Later, when Ric meets Elizabeth at the Hospital, he discovers his wife in tears. Elizabeth confides that the doctor told her that she could never have children. Ric tells Elizabeth that he wants to speak to the doctor himself, and Elizabeth agrees to wait for Ric downstairs. When Elizabeth's "specialist" meets with Ric, it is the same doctor who took care of Carly following Carly's "accident" with the electrical system in the Panic Room. Ric pays the doctor for giving bad news to Elizabeth and reports that the doctor's "other" patient is now doing fine! In the meantime, Jason breaks in to Ric's Place to plant a bug. Carly sees him enter the house from the monitor inside the panic room. She sees him plant bugs around the living room and then he uses a chair to climb on top of a cabinet to place a bug. Jason notices a video surveillance camera and tries to see where it is attached to. Carly holds out hope that he will find out that the camera is hooked up to a monitor from the secret room. She gets up and pulls out the monitor so that he can see her pulling on the other end of the cord and will figure out someone is on the other side of the wall. However, Jason hears a car door slam and jumps down and puts the chair away. Carly gets frustrated that Ric and Liz returned home so soon and interrupted what could have been her possible rescue. Jason manages to get out of the house before being caught. Carly hears Ric comfort Liz after she hears from the specialist that she can't get pregnant again. Ric tells her that they can adopt a baby and love it as if it was biologically their own. Liz refuses to give up getting pregnant and uses a case of a friend of hers having twins after she was told she couldn't conceive a baby. Ric puts the idea of adoption in her head. Liz tells him she isn't against adoption but wants to have a baby of her own first. Liz goes in the other room.

Ric notices when he is hugging Liz that the video camera has been moved around. He checks on Carly, who is looking at a magazine and sitting near the monitor. He demands to know what she has been up to. He demands to know who came in the house but Carly tells him no one came by and that she was sick of listening to him lie to Liz and wanted to yank the monitor out of the wall. Ric buys her story. Carly questions his sanity again and asks him if he thinks Liz won't find out she can really get pregnant and if he plans to not have sex with his wife again. Ric calls the doctor he paid off and asks for a prescription of birth control pills. Carly tells him that Sonny won't ever give up finding her and that he will find out what he did to her. Ric tells her that Sonny won't find out anything but is less confident about it. Later, he stands outside with Liz and has her imagine a tree house out front for their kids to play in. Liz tells him she is going to take a bath now. After she heads to the bathroom, Ric goes over to the cabinet and fixes the monitor and speaks into the camera so Carly can hear him and says that her baby will be his no matter what she thinks. Liz calls from the bathroom to tell him their bath is almost ready.

Ric tells Liz he will meet her in the park later and that he has to meet with Alcazar later about legal business. Liz doesn't like that he is working for Alcazar in any way but drops the subject. At the park, Faith runs into Liz. Liz warns her to stay away from her. Faith tells her that she is over Ric and is concentrating on Sonny now. She makes a remark that Ric is just a poor substitute for the real thing, Sonny and that no matter what Ric does he will never be Sonny. Faith walks off. Ric checks on Carly and she tells him that Liz is already starting to doubt him but that she is in too much denial to admit that he is lying to her again. She tells him that Liz will eventually find out what he is doing and run as far away from him as she can go. Ric tells her that Liz loves him and he loves her and that is all that matters. Carly tells him that he doesn't know how to love anyone since he is so twisted. Ric leaves the panic room. Jason meets with his surveillance man and listens to a taped conversation between Ric and Liz. Jason hears a noise after Ric shuts the door after Liz leaves. He asks his technician to try and amplify and isolate the sound he keeps hearing but can't identify.

Ric meets up with Liz at the park to celebrate the Fourth of July. She tells him about running into Faith. She tells him that Faith mentioned that he is a poor substitute for Sonny and that she has her sights on him now and that Ric is trying to be like him and wants his life. Liz asks him if there is any truth in what Faith said. Ric assures Liz that Faith is crazy and not to believe what she tells her. The show ends with a music montage of couples. Alcazar and Ric were fighting at Ric's, with Jason listening in, wondering who the "her" was they were talking about. Ric reminded Alcazar he didn't ask for help. In the listening van, Jason had recorded the conversation between Ric and Alcazar and wondered what the noise was after Alcazar left. It was the door to Carly's room opening.

After Alcazar left, Carly saw Ric crush some birth control pills and put them in a drink for Elizabeth. Elizabeth called and asked Ric to meet her in the park, where she had a surprise picnic waiting. Ric brought the pills with him and slipped them in her drink at the park. Elizabeth surprised Ric with tickets to Hawaii, but Ric informed her that he was working on a deal with Alcazar and could not leave town. Elizabeth was crushed but remained supportive. After their picnic, Elizabeth went alone to see Dr. Meadows, who was stunned to hear that Elizabeth had been told she could not bear children. Dr Meadows assured Elizabeth she was fine and would be able to conceive normally and carry a baby to term. They discussed the conflicting opinion from Dr Gordon and Dr Meadows had not heard of him and thought he may have been a visiting physician to General Hospital. Dr Meadows was curious about who had recommended him to her. Elizabeth told her Ric had recommended him. Dr Meadows suggested they contact the State Board about the incompetence of Dr Gordon. Elizabeth only wanted to know how to get pregnant right away. Dr Meadows suggested an ovulation test kit. Elizabeth rushed home to share the good news with Ric. He was subdued and reminded her that Dr Gordon was a fertility specialist. Elizabeth thought he mixed up test results. Ric continued to confound Elizabeth by his lack of excitement. She grew suspicious and wondered if he'd changed his mind about wanting a baby. He said he only doesn't want her to get her hopes up. She said she wants to start trying next month and they kissed.
