Jason & Sam #9 December 29, 2005 - March 14, 2006 8 hour original edit Alexis and Durant show up at the apartment later to get her deposition. Justus is there also to act as Sam's attorney. Alexis questions her about her testimony concerning how she feels about Manny Ruiz and what he has done to Jason and her. Alexis questions her about how she has a bias against Manny concerning whether he should get the death penalty. Sam lets her emotions get the better of her and testifies that she is biased about him and calls him a whack job among other things. Alexis continues to question her about her financial dependency on Jason and she asks her if Jason told her what to say today. Sam gets very defensive and starts to insult Alexis for defending someone like Manny. Alexis tells her that Jason is not much different than Manny in that he kills people for a living as well. Alexis and Durant finish the deposition. Alexis tells Durant out in the hallway that she has no plans to tank the case for him and that he needs to remember to uphold the law. Durant tells her that Manny is guilty and she knows it. Later, Sam goes to the hospital to talk to Patrick. The nurse tells her that Patrick is probably on rounds right now and will try to get a hold of him for her. Two policemen escort Manny back to his room. He sees Sam in the hallway. Sam tells him that she doesn't believe he has changed at all and doesn't buy his act and he will pay for what he did. Alexis witnesses Sam's outburst and asks the policemen to escort Manny back to his room and not to allow him to converse with Sam anymore. Sam warns Alexis that if she gets Manny off for what he has done, don't be so sure he won't come after her eventually and then she will know how it feels to be her. Alexis tells her that she was appointed the case and that she is only doing her job. Jason shows up and sees the tension between Sonny and Carly. Sonny goes upstairs to the party. Jason asks her what is going on with her. She tells him about how Michael saw Emily and Sonny wearing just towels outside in the hallway last night after Sonny invited Emily to stay over when the guesthouse had not heat or hot water. Jason tells her he is concerned about Emily getting involved with Sonny but that she needs to stay out of it and not come up with any crazy plans against them. The birthday party begins. They wheel out a cart with a birthday cake shaped like a racecar. Michael makes a wish and blows out the candles and opens his presents. Jason comes back to Sonny's place to talk to him about Emily. Jason asks Sonny not to pursue a relationship with Emily. Sonny tells him that he has no intention of being more than friends with Emily and that he actually talked to her last night about how he is the wrong guy for her to get involved with. Jason finds out the Sam gave a deposition to Alexis the
day of Michael's party. He is upset that she kept in a secret from him. Sonny
calls Jason and orders him to kill Manny. Jason knows this is a mistake, but he
goes back to his house to prepare to do his job. When he arrives home, Sam sees
him getting his gun out and knows what is about to take place. Carly appears and
they both try and stop him. At the hospital, Durant runs into Sam and the two
watch on camera as Jason sneaks into Manny's room. Sam is beside herself with
rage at John. John doesn't bat an eye, however, and soon Jason appears. The
corrupt D.A. arrests both he and Sam for murder, simply because Manny isn't
moving in his bed. Jason and Sam try to have an evening alone but Sam has a premonition that because they are having so much fun that means Carly must be coming over any moment now to interrupt them. She asks Jason to go open the door to their apartment. Sure enough Carly is on the other side of the door. She tells Jason she is glad he was home. She orders him to go down to Sonny's place and stop Sonny from getting romantically involved with Emily right now. Sam tells Carly off for trying to interfere in Sonny's life and using Jason again to do it. Carly tells Sam to butt out since she doesn't know what she is talking about. Jason tells Carly he won't go see Sonny for her. Sam goes upstairs to avoid dealing with Carly. Carly pleads with Jason to stop Sonny and Emily from getting involved. Jason asks her if she wants Sonny back and if she does to just admit it. Carly doesn't know what to say and hugs Jason. He tells her she needs to back off and stop interfering and start her new life without Sonny and learn to let him go. Sonny calls Jason to ask him to stop by so he can discuss Emily with him. Jason goes over. Sonny tells him what happened earlier with Emily. Sonny tells Jason that he told Emily that he didn't have feelings for her. He tells Jason that he still wants to be friends with Emily. Jason tells Sonny that he trusts him to know how much Emily can handle. Sonny tells him that he let her go. Jason notices that Sonny is nervous and asks him what else he wants to tell him. Sonny tells Jason that he lied to Emily when he told her he didn't have feelings for her. He confesses to Jason that he does have feelings for Emily but has no plans to act on them. Robin shows up at Jason's place to talk to him. Sam answers the door and tells Robin that Jason is gone right now. Robin asks her if she can come in and wait for him. Sam doesn't have a problem with that. Robin tells her that she just finished her deposition in Manny's case. Sam assumes that Robin told Alexis that Manny is an evil creep and the surgery didn't change that. Robin tells Sam that she told the truth, Manny is a different man since the surgery and that his medical condition caused his violent actions. Sam is floored by this bit of information and starts to tell Robin off for defending Manny to her when she should be testifying against him instead. Robin tells Sam she is a hypocrite considering that she condones Jason's violent lifestyle but can't see Manny is in the same business. Jason comes home just as Robin defends her actions claiming that she gets hammered for being honest and telling the truth and that she did the right thing by telling A.J. he was Michael's father and she won't apologize for it. Jason tells Robin that it wasn't about doing what was right for her but that it was about Michael and that because of her actions; she tore Michael's life apart in the process. Robin reminds Jason that it is he and Carly's fault that Michael went through what he went through as their lie to A.J. set the wheels in motion. Jason lays into her for interfering all those years ago. After he vents, both Jason and Samantha express gratitude towards the young doctor for saving Jason's life. Alexis and Ric show up to take Jason's deposition. Alexis takes first crack at him and gets nothing but hostile, evasive answers. Ric manages only a series of "I don't knows" out of him. As Alexis warns Samantha to get Jason to cooperate with them, Jason goes outside and warns Ric that Jason will get Alexis to back off Sam if Ric fails to himself. It is clear the two men each know exactly what that means. QUOTE OF THE DAY: "We'll be taking Sonny's deposition next so you might wanna warn him so he can come up with answers as clever as yours." Ric, to a less than forthcoming Jason. Jason tells Ric if he can't get Alexis to back off Sam, he will do it himself. Inside, Alexis is trying to explain to Sam why she legally has to represent Manny. She has to lawfully give him a defense. It is his right. Sam breaks her down, though, when she reminds her that Sam's child is the one who gave Kristina life and she owes her. Alexis decides to leave, so Jason comes back into the penthouse. Ric is curious what made Alexis leave so quickly, but she blows him off. Sam tells Jason to give her more time to work on Alexis before he steps in. She changes the subject and tries to get him to take a bubble bath with her. Max, interrupts them though, so she goes upstairs. Max tells Jason that Manny is being transported to jail tonight and another Ruiz member is in town. Sam comes downstairs in time to see Jason getting his gun out. Manny is being transported and then the van breaks down. As Jesse and the other guard try to figure out what is wrong, they are both shot. Manny's cousin has come to free him, but Manny won't leave with him. While Jason watches, Manny explains that he must pay for what he's done. Manny's cousin tells him he doesn't have a choice, so Manny gets out and knocks his cousin to the ground. As he turns around, Jason confronts him. As Jason looks as though he is about to shoot him saying, "This is for Sam." Ric and Alexis run up and Ric urges him to not shoot and Alexis swears she will have him arrested for murder if he pulls the trigger. Jason doesn't shoot and Alexis and Ric vouch for Jason when the cops arrive. Jason and Manny both get hauled back to the PCPD, but Jason is soon released after some aggravation from Durant. Sam arrives at the department after being tipped off from Max, but finds only Carly still at the station. She is still there wanting to see how much Alexis has gotten done with Manny's case. She fears that Alexis will be able to get Manny off. Jason and Sonny discuss Manny. Sonny fears that Jason believes Manny is a new man. Jason still thinks Manny should die for what he did to Sam and Carly, but he wants to wait to see how the trial plays out. Sam tosses and turns on the couch, victim of a nightmare in which 'nurse' Manny has captured her newborn. Upon waking up, she declares to Jason that she's fed up with not having control over her own life; all she can think of is "that sick freak". Sam then brings up the idea of getting pregnant soon and rambles about it for quite some time but Jason prefers to wait. The mobster soon finds himself hauled to the PCPD in cuffs! John orders him held without bail, and Samantha's rage absolutely boils over when she learns Alexis was behind the arrest. Hysterical with fury, she smacks Alexis across the face as hard as she possibly can. Sam slugs Alexis across the face after learning she had Jason arrested for attempted murder. Ric is there at the police station when it happens and insists that Sam be arrested for hitting an officer of the court. Alexis tells him she doesn't plan to press charges and if they do she will just bail Sam out and defend her in court. Sam doesn't want any favors from Alexis because she will expect a payback in the form of having Jason testify. Alexis asks Sam to hear her out before reacting. Sam listens as Alexis warns her to get out of Jason's life while she still can and that any children she may have one day will be in constant danger because of Jason. Sam tells her she doesn't know what she is talking about. Alexis tells her she knows what she is talking about because of experience and as a mother she will do anything to protect her children from a life of violence. Jason reacts aggressively to what Alexis says to Sam. He gets in Alexis's face and threatens her if she doesn't leave Sam alone. Ric gets into the middle and threatens to have Jason arrested if he even goes near Alexis or threatens her. Sam notices how vehemently he reacts to Alexis's words and wonders if he reacted that way because she was telling the truth. Sam sits with Jason in the visitor's room later. Durant comes up to inform Jason that he is free to go since Manny discredited what Jesse said about him trying to kill Manny. Sam seems upset about something but won't tell Jason what is bothering her. Jason tells her he loves her and Sam tells him she loves him but wants to go home now with him. Jason goes home with her. Sam tells him that she wonders if it is such a good idea for them to have children because of their lifestyle and that maybe that he feels that way too and that is why he has been uncomfortable whenever they have brought up the conversation about having children. Jason asks her if she believes what Alexis told her. She downplays the effect Alexis had on her but he feels she is acting differently since her confrontation with her earlier. Sam begins having serious doubts about starting a family with Jason in the wake of Alexis' earlier speech. Jason urges her to make the decision for herself, and in the end the two agree a family is still what they want. Jason is concerned that Sam could be a carrier for the gene that caused her brother's mental illness. They decide to go to the doctor to check is out and then make a decision as to whether or not they still want to try to have kids. When they get to the hospital, Robin comes in and tells them she's covering for Dr. Lee. Sam is upset and doesn't want her to treat her at first. She can't wait any longer to find out if she's a carrier for the fragile X gene. She tells Robin that her brother has Fragile X Syndrome and since her and Jason are contemplating having a baby, she wants to get checked out. Robin doesn't seem phased by the request and tells them it's a simple blood test. She should be able to get the test results back today. Sam gets a clean bill of health and since she is not a carrier for the Fragile X gene, she and Jason decide to start trying for a baby right away. After they fall asleep together on the couch, Sam dreams that her mother is telling her not to get married. If she gets married, she'll mess everything up. Sam wakes up startled. Desperate to keep the judge from issuing a bench warrant, Sam convinces him to give Jason one more hour to answer Alexis' subpoena. Sam tries to bring out the worst in Manny by provoking him while he is in the visitor's room in handcuffs. She taunts him about how he is not going to get away with what he has done and she is going to make sure he pays for everything he has done to her and everyone else. She hides her cell-phone and uses it to record their conversation to use as evidence. She gets the response she wants when she pushes him too far and he grabs her and throws her against the wall. He rips her blouse and tries to fondle her and tells her that he is going to be her new boyfriend. Sam yells at him to stop and let go of her. He still knocks her around and tries to grab her. He finds her cell-phone and finds out what she is doing with it. He throws it and smashes it against the floor and calls her a bitch. She hits him hard in the hand just as Alexis and Ric come into the room. Sam tells them that Manny attacked her again. Manny lies and tells Alexis and Ric that Sam ripped her own blouse and came onto him. Sam tells them she got proof of his true colors when she recorded everything on her cell-phone before Manny grabbed and smashed it against the floor. Ric picks up the cell-phone and he and Alexis manage to retrieve some of the recording but the rest of it is damaged because of what Manny did and can't be retrieved. Sam insists she had proof of him attacking her even if it wasn't on the recording. She tells them she will prove it one way or another. Ric looks at Manny and starts to wonder if Sam is telling the truth. The trial reconvenes. Emily takes the stand. Ric questions her about how different Jason was before his accident ten years ago compared to how he is today. She admits that Jason was totally different than he was before and that the brain trauma he suffered caused it. Alexis calls Sam to the stand. Sam becomes hostile when Alexis asks her about Jason's case being similar to Manny's case. Sam refuses to answer the question and instead argues with her about how Jason is a decent man. Alexis asks the judge to order Sam to answer her questions. Sam still stares down Manny and starts taunting him again to try and provoke him into revealing his true colors in court. She insults his manhood, which causes Manny to make a fist with both hands, but he still appears calm. Alexis asks Sam to tell them what Jason really does for a living. Sam tells her that he is a coffee importer. Alexis tells her she is under oath and that she needs to reveal that Jason is a hired hit man for the mob. Sam still refuses to answer her question. Sam has just wrapped up her testimony, but uses the stage as means to belittle Manny sexually that he's a "little man" who only wants women when they're tied up or scared, she declares to the court before finally returning to her seat. Jason shows up at the courthouse and is immediately called to the stand. Alexis asks him several questions related to Jason Quartermaine, but Jason Morgan cannot answer any, as he doesn't remember "him". When Alexis asks for Jason's opinion about Manny's about-face, Jason testifies he doesn't buy it. Alexis surprises all by calling Manny to the stand. He lies that Samantha ripped her own blouse and attacked him moments ago. Sam absolutely erupts in fury and Jason has to escort her outside; he learns of Manny's attack during her attempted setup. Sam declares that somebody's gotta stop Manny before he can hurt again then she disappears. As John is about to cross-examine him, Manny appears to be ill and the judge calls a recess. In the same room he attacked Sam, Manny smiles gleefully as he replays the moment in his perverted mind. Soon, someone Manny knows enters the room but we don't see who it is. Then there is a single gunshot, Sonny, Jason, Ric and Alexis find Manny down, and not likely to get back up. Sam leaves the courthouse to go home and take a shower. Jason, Sonny, Emily, and Carly talk outside the courtroom and suddenly hear a shot. They go running and see that Manny has been shot. Manny points to Jason as Emily is tending to his wounds. They rush him off to the hospital for emergency surgery. Durant arrests Jason and tells the police officers to test for gun shot residue. He promises Carly that if Jason comes back clean he will let him go. Sam is arrested as she's getting out of the shower back at the penthouse. They haul her in, and decide to arrest her for attempted murder when Jason comes back clean. Jason tells Sonny to talk to Ric about Alexis. She's being too hard on Sam. Jason walks in and is upset to hear Emily and Sonny talking about wanting to be together. Jason ignores Emily when she leaves and starts to talk to Sonny about business. Sonny is upset that Jason could hurt Emily that way. He fears that he and Jason will not be able to work together if Emily and he continue their relationship. John fights for a postponement to Manny's trial but the judge sides with Alexis, and allows Manny to attend in a wheelchair. Lorenzo shows up and reminds Manny he is to rid the world of Sonny and Jason or else he, Lorenzo, will turn over Sam's memory chip. Sam has a nightmare and a just-acquitted Manny has risen from his wheelchair and cornered her, and she awakens suddenly. Jason urges her to try to forget about him as John will likely postpone the trial, Justus arrives with bad news, there will be no postponement! The two head to the courthouse, where Alexis and John each give strong closing arguments that point to the lack of evidence (of Manny's new personality) on the opposing sides. Ultimately, he is found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and ordered to counseling, community service at GH and to wear an ankle monitor. Sam is shockingly calm at the verdict. Manny is wheeled out of the courtroom in a wheelchair after he gets a suspended sentence. Carly pulls Jason aside to talk to him about something and Sam is left alone just like the dream she had earlier. Manny gets out of his wheelchair and corners her in the hallway. He tells her he is sorry for what he has done and doesn't want her to be afraid of him anymore. Sam screams at him to leave her alone and that he hasn't changed. Jason hears her and runs over and grabs Manny and throws him up against the wall. Durant gets involved and tells Jason he is going to arrest him for his assault on Manny. Manny tells Durant that he will not be pressing charges against Jason and asks him to let him go. Durant has no choice but to let it go. Carly insists on talking to Jason alone. Sam goes back into the courtroom and confronts Alexis about helping set Manny free. Alexis spouts out about it being her job to uphold the law and that Sam didn't help herself by losing control of her temper in court for the jury to see. Sam starts to accuse Alexis of not being a good mother because Manny will probably go after her children now that he is free. Alexis asks Sam why she is so angry with her and thinks that Sam still resents her because Kristina lived and her baby had to die to save Kristina. Sam doesn't know what to say. Jason and Ric both come in and take corners to protect their significant others. Jason tells Alexis to back off of Sam. Sam asks Jason to take her home. Sonny tells Jason that they should hold off taking Manny out and he orders Jason to find out if Manny meets with Alcazar to work for him or not. Carly is waiting for Jason and Sam outside their penthouse when they get home. She asks to speak to Jason and insists it is important. Sam doesn't argue with her and tells Jason she is going to go take a nap. Jason tells her he hopes this isn't about Sonny. Carly tells him about what happened earlier at the hotel when Sonny asked Emily to go pick up the boys without warning her first. She asks Jason to do something about this since it isn't fair to put the boys in the middle of all this. Emily meets with Jason at Kelly's. He tells her he wants her to stay away from Sonny for her own safety. Emily reminds him that he always told her to make her own choices and now she chooses to be with Sonny and that he has no say in it. Manny looks into the window at Kelly's and sees them talking and smiles. Back at the courthouse, Jesse informs Lucky that the tracking device attached to Manny's ankle monitor shows the address of Sam and Jason's place. Sam leaves the penthouse and hits the elevator button and because it is slow she decides to take the stairs. She hears someone following her on the stairs and turns around to find Manny. He corners her in the stairwell and tells her he likes her and only wants to be her friend. Sam tells him to leave her alone and tries to get by him. Suddenly the door to the stairwell bursts open and Lucky and Jesse are there pointing their guns at Manny. He asks Sam if Manny tried to attack her and she has to admit he wasn't doing that but was trying to make her believe he has changed and she doesn't believe it. They ask him what he is doing there. He tells them he went to see Jason and her at the penthouse but no one answered and he decided to take the stairs and found her. They let Manny go with a warning to stay close to the police station as a rule set by the judge. Sam tells them she wants a restraining order brought against Manny. Lucky tells her they can't help her with that unless Manny tries to attack her physically. Manny overhears their conversation and smiles in satisfaction. Sonny discusses with Max an upcoming meeting concerning how to "deal with" Manny. Jason arrives, and Sonny informs him he'll be attending in Sonny's place as he has "plans". Liz notices a postcard that Emily is holding and realizes Sonny is taking her there on their date. Pressured again by Jason, Sonny calls Emily to cancel their date. Emily, however, convinces him to reconsider, and they reach a compromise: Sonny will go to the lodge, and it'll be okay whether or not Emily meets him. They hang up, and Em debates for about, oh, two seconds before heading off but not before dropping her postcard. Lucky warns Manny to stay away from Samantha or anybody else he feels he should apologize to. Manny's words are that of the "new" Manny but his demeanor is just short of pure arrogance. He asks Lucky to tell his pretty wife hello for him. Lorenzo gives Manny a key to get out of his ankle monitor. Manny finds the postcard that Emily dropped on the ground. A concerned Max tells Jason that Sonny is missing and he doesn't know if he deliberately gave him the slip or if Manny had something to do with it. Liz tells Jason that Manny has gone home. Jason goes there, discovers the postcard and Manny's ankle bracelet fastened to the heater! Jason heads to the Inn, thinking Manny has taken Sonny hostage. Jason bursts into the room with gun drawn, to find Sonny and Emily making out, Sonny with his shirt half off. Jason talks to Sonny about his relationship with Jason's sister. Jason is tells Sonny that he wants his sister to be happy, but she will never be happy with Sonny and the danger that is part of his life. Jason gives him an ultimatum and Sonny decides to end his relationship with Emily. Sonny tells Carly about Jason's demands and that Jason doesn't want him to do what Sonny will have to do to get through to Emily. Carly assists in the matter when she hears Emily talking to Max outside the door, she grabs Sonny and kisses him. Emiily enters and sees them together and assumes the have reunited and leaves. Jason convinces Lucky to let him break into Manny's room to look for the key to his ankle monitor. Jason is shocked to see Sam climbing through Manny's window while he is in there, though. Sam tries to explain to Jason why she has to go after Manny for herself. He terrorized her and stalked her, and she can't leave it up to someone else to avenge her. As Carly and Emily are talking, Jason walks in and asks what is wrong. Carly explains about Emily before she leaves. Jason and Sonny start to argue, but then Jason says that if Sonny says he and Emily are over then he will let it drop. Jason goes back home and finds Sam trying to comfort Emily. When Emily leaves, Jason tells Sam that it is his fault Emily is so hurt. Lorenzo orders Manny not to use his ankle-monitor key anytime he pleases, to play the model citizen until Lorenzo tells him it is time to move on Corinthos. Jason has fallen asleep on the couch and he awakens to find Luke's chimp standing by his fireplace. The look on his face is priceless. Sam comes downstairs while Jason stands frozen, apprehensive, almost as if he thinks he is having one of Sonny's hallucinations! It is a riot to see the professional hit man so afraid of the unknown. Jason worriedly asks her if she sees a monkey over by the fireplace. She teases him, "No." He looks back and the monkey is gone. He looks towards Sam about to tell her about his hallucination, but she grins and says, "But there is one on the pool table." Sam closes a door so the chimp doesn't wander off. Jason believes it would be better if the chimp left, as they don't know where it came from. Sam says it's nothing to worry about, that he is obviously good with people. Jason wants to know, "What kind of person has a chimp for a pet?" She laughs, "Not you obviously!" As she sits next to it, he nervously warns her to be careful, "I don't want to have to shoot it!" He wants to call animal control but she refuses as they will lock him up in a cage. He insists that she can't keep the monkey but she is sure she can find the owner. She points out they don't have any chimp friendly food and heads to the door. He immediately volunteers to go to the store. She insists she go as Danny is coming in that afternoon and she wants to stock up for his visit. Jason is asking her not to leave him with....as Sam blows him a kiss and shuts the door. Jason tentatively sits on the couch and the monkey joins him, mimicking his moves and stares him down. Michael shows up at the door and tells him Sam called and said he needed help with a chimp. He gives the chimp a high five and enthuses, "This is the coolest thing I've ever seen!" Michael tells Jason they have to assure the chimp he is safe and tells Jason to shake the chimps hand. Jason is less than eager but complies and then gives the chimp a high five. While Sam stops in at Kelly's, she hears Georgie, Dillon, and Lulu talking about the chimp and lets them know he is with her. Later, after they have taken the chimp to the Quartermaines and returned back to the penthouse, Jason is rather quiet as he is worried about having taken Michael over there when Luke is so sick. (They didn't air scenes with Jason and Michael at the Q's). Jason returns home and Danny tells him that Sam has been lying on the couch for a while and looks sick. Jason comes over and checks her forehead and finds she is running a high fever. GH is swamped with patients, all suffering from an encephalitis virus. It is determined to be highly contagious and they initially believe the chimp to be the carrier. Robert Scorpio has arrived in town and has ordered GH quarantined to halt the spread of the virus. As Sam lays dangerously ill with no treatment available, the chimp escapes. Carly and Jason spot the chimp and follow it out of the hospital trying to capture it (obviously the quarantine is being strictly enforced!). They see him dash into a dark SUV, but before they can get too close, a passenger in the vehicle starts open shooting at them. The cops are immediately suspicious, but before they can interrogate Jason and Carly for very long, they get sidetracked with the drama at the entrance of GH. Jason calls Justice with the license plate information from the SUV and he tells them it comes back to Crylium Industries. They follow the SUV to the Metro Court where one of the suites is heavily guarded. When the occupants of the room leave, Carly follows one of the men down to the dining area while Jason goes in to investigate the room. Justice calls back and tells him the company is a pharmaceutical company out of Markham Islands. Jason is stopped from learning anymore because he hears Carly's voice outside the room with a man. She interrupted the prostitute who was going to be Mr. Rush's company for the evening and offered to stand in for her. When they get into the room, Anton tells Carly she looks familiar. Sam hears about the shooting outside the hospital with Jason and gets out of bed to try and find him. She gets to the exit of the hospital before she is stopped and collapses. Patrick takes her back to her room where she discovers her new roommate is Alexis. She tells him she won't room with Alexis. Jason and Carly question Anton, but don't get much more information. They decide to head to Markham Islands to see what they can find out. Jason has Lucky's badge and ID and plans on impersonating a police officer in an attempt to gain information. Before they leave, Michael finds Sonny's cell phone and calls Carly. While on the phone, Elizabeth sees him and asks to speak with Jason. Elizabeth tells Jason and Carly that the encephalitis is man-made. Lucky regains consciousness in a lab at Crylium Industries in the Markham Islands where he learns he's going to be used to test a potential cure. A weak and feverish Samantha calls for help when she knocks over a pitcher of water. Manny enters, walks towards her bed, picks the pitcher up and Sam cries for help. Jesse runs in and Sam demands that Jesse arrest Manny for stalking her that he was coming after her. Alexis again comes to Manny's defense and tells Jesse he's just been keeping an eye out on Ms. Davis. After sending Manny out, Jesse tells him he doesn't buy his act and then faints in his arms. Alexis and Samantha are having separate flashbacks of the stem-cell crisis between their children a year ago. Suddenly Alexis charges at Sam's bed and, in a severe hallucination, demands Sam give her daughter's stem cells to Kristina!! Shouting and physically shaking her roommate, the only thing that is able to stop Alexis' madness is Danny. Danny has run into the room and grabs Alexis and pulls her away from Sam thinking that Alexis was attacking Sam. He shakes her roughly and tells her to stay away from Sam or he will hurt her. Sam yells at Danny to let go of Alexis and tries to explain that Alexis wasn't trying to hurt her. Alexis confuses Danny with Jason and thinks Jason is going to kill her. Ric runs in and grabs Danny and pushes him away from Alexis. Danny gets scared and thinks Ric is going to hurt him. Sam asks Ric to leave Danny alone and not to hurt him and explains that Danny was just trying to protect her. Sam pretends she is feeling better to calm him down and get him to rest in his bed since he is also sick. She leaves the room and passes out. Tony finds her lying on the floor unconscious and calls for help to get her back to her bed. Later, Sam has a dream about her late mother, who taunts her about how she will never get married and have a family. Sam murmurs in her sleep about her mom and Alexis overhears her and wonders what she is talking about. Jason and Carly arrive in the Markham Islands to investigate the pharmaceutical company that manufactured the virus. They pay the guy who had talked to Luke and he explained about what he saw happen and pretends to know nothing about some pharmaceutical company. Jason and Carly decide to take Luke's old room while they are there. The hotel man calls the doctor who heads the lab that has Lucky in custody. He tells the doctor that Jason and Carly have arrived and that the guy is using Lucky's ID as a cop to get information. Lucky is strapped to a bed in the lab. The doctor informs him that he is going to be brought to the brink of death before they try the antidote on him. Lucky realizes he is being used as a guinea pig. He gets one of the restraints loose enough to break free. He pretends to be sick with fever and weak. He waits until the doctor leaves the room. He gets out of his restraints and tries to steal some of the antidote vials before escaping. He is caught and placed back in his restraints. Jason gets a phone number off the phone he found on the guy they questioned back in Port Charles. He decides to call the number. The doctor is holding Lucky answers the phone. He tells Jason that he knows Jason used Lucky's ID to ask questions. He warns Jason that if he tries to find him and kill him he won't be able to stop the virus from killing his loved ones back home without his antidote. He tells Jason that he and Carly are already exposed to the virus and will eventually get sick themselves. Carly talks to Michael and asks about Sonny and Sam. Michael thinks they are doing about the same as they were before. Jason came back from sleuthing to find Carly faking fever. It was a crazy plan to get into the labs and Jason was not happy about her plan. In his lab, Evil Scientist Guy was giddy as Lucky got closer to dying. The Crylium guys snagged faux-fevered Carly and shot things in case Jason was hiding in a throw pillow. The Crylium henchmen carried Carly into the lab. Unfortunately, as she tried to rescue Lucky, Evil Scientist Guy caught her red-handed. He copped to working for some investors who intended to get rich off the cure. "This will either save your cousin or kill him," ESG announced as he injected Lucky. Lucky didn't seem to be improving, so Evil Scientist Guy (He's such a James Bond villain!) advanced on Carly and injected her. Jason burst in, opened fire, ESG is buried under some rubble. Jason observes that injecting Carly with the cure was pointless as she wasn't really sick, the wounded man cackled that he hadn't injected her with the cure, he'd injected her with the virus! Carly and Jason try to save Lucky but two armed men come in and kidnap Lucky again. Carly passes out after having been injected with the virus. Jason takes her to a hotel and calls a doctor to come check on her. Jason notices the doctor sweating profusely before he starts to give Carly something for her fever. He takes the needle from the doctor and threatens to inject him if he doesn't tell him what's going on. The doctor admits that he works for Crylium Industries. He tells Jason where they are taking Lucky but they can't get there except by helicopter. Jason calls in the authorities and they take the doctor into custody and offer their resources to Jason. After they leave, a delirious Carly comes out of the bathroom in a black nightie believing they're back in the old days when they were lovers. She starts to take her nightie off, while Jason tries to convince her they are just friends. As Carly fights the virus, she relives the time when she and Jason were lovers and he covered for her when she found out she was pregnant with Michael. When she becomes saner, Carly and Jason talk about what might have been. Jason believes that they never would have worked as a couple. He loves her as a friend, but is not in love with her. Carly seems to think that they could have had a chance at a real future together at one point. She doesn't regret being together with Sonny, though. The helicopter arrives to take them to the other island, but Jason has to help Carly out of their room. The fever is catching up with her and she's unsteady on her feet. Sam goes to the chapel and sees Ric there praying. She notices that he is upset, but he doesn't seem to be delirious. When Sam goes back to her room, she mentions Ric to Alexis who insists on going to see him. When she gets to the chapel, Ric hallucinates that Alexis is his mother Adella. Ric angrily confronts "Adella" about abandoning him as a child. Alexis tells him she had no choice but to give up her child. Later, Alexis tells Sam that she asked Sonny to take the girls to his place so they aren't exposed to the virus more than is necessary. Sam asks about how Ric is doing. Alexis tells her that he is better now. Sam asks her what she meant when she blurted out that she had no choice when a delirious Ric thought Alexis was his mother and asked her how she could have given up her own child. Alexis tells her that she was just humoring him partly and that she believed no woman would give up her child unless she had no choice. Sam accepts her lie, even when Alexis can't look Sam in the eye when she tells her this. Jason and Carly continue to search for the lab in the jungle. Carly feels weak, so Jason leaves her with the gun, while he continues the search. When he comes back, they hear someone coming through the forest. They discover Luke's chimp, and Carly asks if he can take them to the lab. The chimp grins, nods his head yes and starts to lead them through the jungle. Carly feels as if she can't make it any further, but Jason admits to her that he needs her. Jason and Carly follow the trail the chimp made to find the lab. They hide in the bushes near a clearing when they hear a noise. They watch as two men drop a body bag onto the dirt and walk off. Jason and Carly fear that the body could be Lucky. Jason suggests she doesn't look as he opens up the body bag. It turns out to be a dead employee, not Lucky. Jason and Carly make a grave for the dead man. Later, Jason finds Carly passed out just as the men return to bury the body. Jason and Carly manage to find a keycard in the dead man's pocket and steal it. The men notice something different about the area and think someone has been there and go look for them. Jason and Carly find what looks like a cement wall covered by tree branches. They realize it is a door and it has a keypad so they can slide the keycard through it. The door opens and they go inside. They find Lucky inside one of the lab rooms, strapped to a bed. Lucky tells them that someone injected him with something and it most likely was the antidote since he feels a lot better. Jason finds a cabinet with what looks like vials inside. He asks Lucky if the antidote looked like those vials. Lucky thinks so but can't be sure that it isn't the virus. Carly takes some vials out and suggests injecting one of them into her to see if it is the antidote. Jason is against it and tells her not to risk it. Jason unstraps Lucky and notices Carly in the corner getting the vial ready to inject the liquid into her arm. He tells her not to do it. Carly looks at him and tells him she has to do this as there is no way she will make it back without taking the antidote. Jason tells her they don't know what it is and she won't make it back if she is dead either! He plans on making a guard tell him what it is, she insists on doing it and tells him she will either live if it's the cure or she will die if it was the virus. As Carly sits and waits to see if she will leave or die, she tells him that she has never been able to hang onto a man just like her mother Virginia and Bobbie so she comes by it honestly. Lucky comes in and tells Jason that he has seen a chopper land on the north ridge. Jason warns him that their rescue chopper is landing on the south ridge. Jason wants Lucky to take the vial and have it analyzed immediately. Carly interrupts and tells him that her fever has broken and that vial contains the antidote. Jason tells her they are going to have to make a break for it. Just then, the bad guys burst in with guns blazing and Jason, Carly, and Lucky all drop to the floor and make like they have been hit. As the assailants lower their weapons, Jason kicks a cart towards them and begins firing and takes out all three bad guys. Unfortunately, the one vial of antidote they had was broken in the conflict. Jason forces one of the goons to admit that all of the antidote is gone. They search and find a shipping invoice that 40 vials were sent out to an address in Port Charles. Jason and Carly board the plane to return home and Carly tells Jason that they should start working together. Jason points out to her all the bad ideas she has had in the past and tells her that he worries about her too much to work with her. She takes that as a compliment, of course. A mysterious woman packs an envelope with a letter and one vial of antidote and sends it to General Hospital. Alexis is doing worse but still gets up and tries to help a delirious Sam. Alexis tries to answer the questions Sam has for her own mother. Ric comes in and tells Alexis she is doing all she can and she needs to get back in bed. When Sam wakes up later, she asks Alexis what happened. Alexis tells her that she was trying to find out a secret from her mother, and Sam tells her that any secrets her mother may have had died with her. Later, she wakes up again and is relieved to find Jason there. Jason promises that he isn't going anywhere. The next two people in line to receive the antitodote are Danny and Alexis. Sam tries to convince Alexis to give it to Danny, but Ric tells Alexis that her children need her. Alexis decides to go ahead and take the antidote. Holly, as the mysterious woman, calls Robert at the hospital and tells him that one more vial of antidote will cost him $1 Million. When Luke finds out what's going on, he decides to team up with Robert to help. Sam stays by Danny's side as he dies. She first realizes she is losing him when he says he is cold. She tells him to say hi to his niece. Right before he dies, he tells Sam that he thinks he can see baby Lila. When Sam gets back to her room, she screams at Alexis until her head starts hurting and she collapses. Monica comes in to check on Sam and tells Jason that he is worried she won't make it through the night. In an attempt to learn more about the virus and what they are dealing with, Robert pulls Jason aside. Jason doesn't want to give any information to Robert, though. Luke convinces him to give Robert any information that he may have, though. Luke and Robert go to stake out the place where they left the money. They see a mysterious lady enter and start to put a vial down. Shots are fired and when the smoke clears, the lady is gone, along with the vial. Robert is disappointed, but Luke seems to think that she will contact them again to get her money. Elizabeth tries to get any information she can from Carly about what happened to Lucky. Carly tells her that she is sure Lucky is fine. The labs did everything they wanted to with Lucky, so they would have no reason to kidnap him again. Sam gets weaker by the minute. Patrick warns Jason that she is showing the same symptoms that Danny did before he died. Jason lashes out at Patrick for not being able to help her. Sam wakes up and tells Jason not to blame Patrick for what is happening to her. Jason calms down but is still on the verge of tears watching Sam get sicker. She complains of not being able to breathe well. Soon after her monitor goes off and a doctor and nurse come in to help. Sam stabilizes after she is given oxygen to help with her breathing. Sonny comes by to see Jason. He tells Jason that Baby John has the virus and is dying. Jason tells Sonny that he is afraid Sam is dying as well. Sonny tells him he needs to stay by her side and fight for her to live. Sonny is informed by Elizabeth that Ric wants to see him in his room. Jason goes back in her to sit with her. She wakes up later and tells him that she has been having some strange dreams. She also tells him that she never knew perfect love until she met him and fell in love with him. Jason knows she is trying to say goodbye and is having a hard time letting her go. She asks him to hold her hand. Lucky returns home and is reunited with a relieved LIz. Later, Carly sees Robert and Luke huddled together talking. She approaches them just as Robert asks Lucky something about Jason discovering something at the lab. Carly thinks Robert is trying to point a finger at Jason. Luke stands between Carly and Robert and tells her that no one was pointing fingers at Jason for anything. Luke assures her that Jason will not be taking the fall for this virus. Luke tells Robert that Carly is Bobbie's daughter. Luke shows Carly the chocolate wrapper he is holding in a plastic envelope. Carly looks at the wrapper and chastises Robert and Luke for bungling up the meeting at the docks and can't believe this is their only clue. She tells them that they are pathetic and need to do a better job getting the antidote. She storms off. Robert doesn't like her too much and tells Luke he is glad she is a member of his family and not his own. Luke believes that Carly knows something she isn't telling them about the brand of chocolate wrapper he showed her. Later, Carly talks to the hotel manager while she is at Metro court. She tells her about the chocolate brand. The manager confirms that they are the only hotel that sells that brand of chocolate. She also gives Carly useful information about someone checking into the hotel recently with a foreign passport as I.D. and that she is staying in a room under some other man's name. Carly gets the passkey for the room. She investigates the room. She finds a closet full of new clothes with their price tags still on them. She takes out a suitcase and looks inside to find a woman's clothes inside. She hears someone getting ready to come inside the room and she hides. Holly returns to her room. She opens up the briefcase containing vials of the antidote. She shuts the briefcase as Carly spies on her from the closet. Holly locks the briefcase of vials inside a cabinet and leaves the room. Carly leaves the closet and tries to get into the cabinet but realizes it is locked up. She leaves the room and goes out in the hallway. She calls Jason and tells him she found out where the antidote is and that she needs his help and that the briefcase is locked up in one of the hotel rooms. Jason tries to find out more but hears a muffled sound and no answer from Carly. He calls for Carly to answer but Carly is knocked out on the floor outside Holly's room with her cell-phone near her. Carly is knocked cold during a frantic call to Jason.
Jason rushes to the Metro Court but finds Carly and the antidote gone, along
with the extortionist and her goon squad. Jason shows Luke the clue Carly left
behind. Aboard the Haunted Star, Carly learns that her captor is the widow of
Cryleum's late CEO. Luke and Jason manage to free Carly but their target
escapes with the antidote. Alexis has another flash of memory about the baby
girl she gave away years ago. Sonny urges Sam to fight for her life but she
begins to slip away. Patrick comes in to Sam's room and tells her that she can get up and walk as long as Jason is there with her. Jason tells him that he won't leave her side. Patrick also takes the time to thank Jason for the work he did to get the antidote and save all the patients. When he leaves, both Sam and Jason are amazed at his change of attitude. They decide to go for a walk and run into Alexis, who has come to take Ric home. Alexis attempts to apologize, but Sam feels nothing but hatred for Alexis. Sam goes back to her room and tells Jason that all she heard when Alexis was talking to her was the sound of Danny's machines when he was dying. She tells Ric that Danny told her that their parents picked her out especially for him. Sam tells Jason that she never felt that her mother loved her. Jason suggests that maybe she was adopted. Sam doesn't believe him, but tells him that she will have her DNA and Danny's tested to see if they are truly brother and sister. Ric thinks she should search for her daughter, but Alexis doesn't think it's a good idea. Jason decides to go to Courtney's memorial service without Sam. She tells him she can't believe that Danny wouldn't be her biological brother and wants to wait at home in case the hospital calls with the DNA results she asked for. The priest starts the service and introduces Mike to come up and speak. Mike has a hard time talking without choking up and crying. Sonny comes up and suggests that Mike sit down. He tells everyone that he and Courtney were not as close as he would have liked and that he was too hard on her about the men she chose to be with and that she was a good woman. Nikolas shows up and makes a scene as he tells everyone that they are all hypocrites for coming to Courtney's memorial and how he is surprised that the roof of this church hasn't fallen down on them. He tells everyone off for not caring about Courtney when she was alive. He tells Sonny, Jason, Alan, and Jax off for how they treated her. Elizabeth stands up and tells Nikolas to stop his behavior and sit down. He tells off Elizabeth as well because she kept trying to get him to go back to Emily because she didn't want him to be in love with Courtney. Nikolas says his peace and leaves. Carly gets up and says some words about how Courtney was the only woman she became friends with because Courtney was not threatened by her in some way. The service ends. Sam gets a call from Robin informing her that she and Danny were not biological siblings. She tells Sam that either Danny or she was adopted. Sam is stunned by the news. Jason comes home but seems far away thinking about his life with Courtney. Sam tells Jason she's just discovered that she was adopted. Meanwhile, Alexis nervously gives Ric the green light to start tracking down the daughter she gave up for adoption. Jason and Sam attend a private burial ceremony for Danny. Alexis arrives later to lay flowers on Danny's grave figuring that Sam would have left by this time but runs right into an outraged Sam. They start to argue, but Jason and Ric break the pair up. Jason warns Ric to keep Alexis away from Sam. When Sam and Jason get back to the penthouse, Sam tells Jason that she wants to try and find her birth mother. Jason agrees to have one of his associate's help her. Stan comes back with not very promising news about his search for her birth mother. He found three girls born on May 10, 1980, and none of them were adopted. Jason tells him to start searching for private adoptions. Stan says it will be harder, but he will give it a shot. Sam notices that Jason went shopping and wonders what he bought. He tells her to go upstairs while he gets candles and wine set up for them downstairs. He proposes to her again and asks her to go off to Hawaii with him. She tells him that she can't do that right now as she isn't sure she should marry him until after she learns about her parents. Jason still wants to marry her regardless of her background. Sam wonders if she was a result of a rape and that is why her birth mother gave her up and never tried to find her. Later, Stan shows up to tell them that he found a small clinic in Chatham, Maine that may be the place where Sam was born. Jason decides to go with Sam to Maine to check out the clinic. Ric receives the file on the adoption from a former law school friend who works on the firm who handled the adoption. Alexis reads what was in the Cassadine records concerning the birth of her child. She reads it in disbelief and is instantly upset. Ric comforts her but takes the folder and reads what is inside. Alexis can't believe the daughter she gave up died in a car accident at the age of 3 years old. Alexis wishes she never gave up her baby and was able to protect her from this accident happening. Sam and Jason reach the clinic. At first the director tells them he can't reveal the contents of the adoption to them and the records are sealed from the birth mothers who come every day to find out about their children. Sam tells him that she is not a birth mother but that she is someone who was adopted and wants to know her birth mother. The guy smiles and tells her that is different and writes down the last known address of the woman who was her birth mother but doesn't have a name for her. Sam is pleased to get just some lead on her birth mother. Later, they arrive at the address of her birth mother. Sam is nervous but decides she wants to meet her birth mother. Sam and Jason find the home of the woman who gave birth to her. The woman who answers the door cannot give them much help, though. She had a son, not a daughter. She does tell them that Sam's mother wore a uniform, like that of a private school student. Sam and Jason go off to a private school and meet with the head mistress. She thinks she knows who the mother could be due to a particular sophomore that was absent the entire second semester, but she won't reveal that information to Sam. When the lady goes home, Sam and Jason sneak back into her office and start to look through yearbooks. They find a sophomore that doesn't have a picture, which makes them think it could be Sam's mother. Jason instantly recognizes the name and tells Sam that her mother could be Alexis. The look on Sam's face is one of pure shock, she echoes, "Alexis Davis could be my mother?" Sam has a hard time believing that Alexis is her mother. Jason calls Stan and asks him to find all her can out about Alexis. When he comes back with the information, Sam is forced to come to grips with the fact that Alexis is her mother. She wants to confront her immediately, but Jason warns her that confronting Alexis may not be a good idea. Alexis tells Nik about the child she gave up, his cousin. She tells him that her child died in a car accident and blames herself for her daughter's death. As Jason and Sam walk down by the docks, she questions why should she every tell Alexis that she is her daughter? The answer to that comes barreling down the pier and Sam gently stops Kristina before she falls into the water. Sam looks into Kristina's face, her eyes softening as she looks into the face of her sister. Alexis and Ric come running up to catch up to Kristina. Alexis sincerely thanks Sam for stopping her. Sam looks into Alexis' face and feels pure rage at being abandoned. Kristina notices the look on Sam's face and asks her what is wrong? Alexis worried about what Sam might say shuffles Ric off with Kristina. After the child is out of earshot, Sam reams Alexis for being a poor excuse for a mother. Jason tries to stop Sam from blurting out the truth about her maternity and pulls her away before she can say too much. Alexis believes that Sam is still bitter over Sam's daughter dying and Kristina living. Back home, Sam angry that Alexis is her mother, didn't want her, yet is this wonderful mother to Kristina and Molly. Sam knows Jason would rather she not tell Alexis as he doesn't think she will feel any better yet he understands if that is what she needs to do. Sam realizes it won't make a difference as she knows Alexis will say she is sorry and it won't help. Jason admits he doesn't like Alexis so he isn't the best person to ask. Sam determines that she doesn't like nor need Alexis and she doesn't want her to know that she is her mother. Carly comes in and accuses him of having Max and Milo to follow her. Carly goes off on Jason that she is single and can go out to dinner with Jax or anyone else she wants. He tells her that Michael was worried about her and called Max. She throws her itinerary at him for the coming week and says this will make it easier for his spies. She assures him she is just having fun and this is not about getting back at Sonny, that she likes Jax. She adds the bonus is it drives Robin crazy to see them together and it brings her close to Courtney's daughter. As he questions why she would give love when she will never give it back, Carly senses he isn't talking about her and Jax. A forlorn Sam is seen looking inside the window at Kelly's at the happy little scene of Alexis, Ric, and Kristina laughing together. **The End** |
