Jason & Sam #7 August 3 - October 20, 2005 – 8 hrs Alan goes to sit in the chapel. He pulls out the letter that AJ had written him and looks at it as Monica walks in. Spotting the letter, she takes it out of Alan's hands before he can hide it. She immediately recognizes AJ's handwriting and opens the letter, ignoring Alan's objections. She is shocked to learn that the letter is actually a confession written 10 years earlier. In the letter AJ admits to hiring someone to kill Jason after the family is informed that Jason's head injuries would leave him in a vegetative state. Monica is horrified but Alan quickly explains that AJ was wracked with guilt and remorse for the accident that left Jason so severely injured. It was his love for Jason that led AJ to hire someone to keep Jason from living out the rest of his days as a vegetable. It wasn't until after Jason awoke and everyone realized that he wasn't as brain damaged as initially believed that AJ realized what he had almost done and wrote the letter, fully intending to turn himself into the authorities. Alan stopped him. Monica demands to know why Alan would do such a thing. She believes it was keeping such a terrible secret that ultimately destroyed AJ during the intervening years. Alan explains that he didn't see any point in AJ going to the police because it wouldn't have changed anything. Alan couldn't bear losing both of his sons. Jason was alive and he was a changed man. Monica wants to know whom AJ hired but Alan admits that he doesn't know. After Alan leaves the chapel, Monica tearfully prays to God, asking forgiveness for AJ. Sonny walks in, overhearing the last of her heart wrenching plea and asks her who she is asking forgiveness for and why. Sonny, Reese and Sam discuss Jason's returning memories and they compare notes on what they've discovered regarding Dr. Thomas. It's clear to them that Dr. Thomas hypnotized Michael in order to alter Michael's memory of whom he saw in AJ's room the night that AJ was murdered. It's also clear that there is a link between AJ and Dr. Thomas that goes back as far as 10 years. They realize that AJ was intending to use Dr. Thomas to sign off on AJ's insanity please and that AJ was blackmailing Dr. Thomas. Alan and Sam talk in the hallway outside of Jason's room. Alan tries to explain that AJ loved Jason deeply. At the time of the accident, Jason was everything to AJ, his brother, his best friend, his whole world. Sam disagrees. She tells Alan that AJ was a vicious monster. While they are talking, Dr. Thomas is inside Jason's room. Jason is slowly coming to and remembering. Dr. Thomas is concerned when it becomes clear that Jason is remembering Dr. Thomas trying to kill him. Dr. Thomas tries to inject a lethal drug into Jason's I.V. while he is still unconscious from his concussion. He is unable to go through with his plan to kill Jason because Carly walks into Jason's room and sees him and asks him what he is doing there. Dr. Thomas puts the syringe and vial back into his lab coat jacket before Carly can see it and tells her he just came by to check on him to see if he was waking up yet. He tells her he is still unconscious. Dr. Thomas leaves the room. Sam sees him come out of Jason's room and Carly is near the doorway asking him what is wrong with Jason. Sam comes in the room and asks Carly what Dr. Thomas was doing in the room alone with Jason. Carly tells her that he just came in to check on Jason and left. Sam tells Carly that she must not allow Dr. Thomas anywhere near Jason but won't tell her why when Carly asks her why she is suspicious of Dr. Thomas. Carly starts to badger Sam and demands to know what is going on with Jason and why his life is in danger. Sonny comes into the chapel and confronts Monica about who she was asking God to forgive. Monica gets all defensive and suggests she was praying for Jason's soul since Sonny got him into killing people for him and needs as much of God's mercy as he can get. Alan comes into the chapel and tells Sonny that Monica was lying to him and that she was praying for him. Sonny asks him what he is talking about. Alan confesses to Sonny that he found a letter A.J wrote about 10 years ago confessing to hiring someone to kill Jason while after the accident that left Jason in a coma with some brain damage. Alan defends AJ's actions as being out of concern for his brother and the guilt he felt for causing the accident that night. Alan doesn't know who A.J. hired to kill Jason. Sonny tells him he knows who A.J. paid to kill Jason ten years ago but doesn't reveal who it is and takes off. Monica blames him for what has happened to A.J. and Jason because he never did anything but cover up for A.J. and never making him take responsibility for his actions and tells him she will never forgive him for it. Sonny returns to Jason's room to find Carly badgering Sam for information about Jason. Sonny refuses to tell her anything but that Jason's life is in danger. Carly think they are deliberately keeping her out of the loop because she is married to Alcazar. Carly storms off before Sonny can calm her down. Sonny talks to Jason while he is still unconscious and tells him he knows that Dr. Thomas is the one who tried to kill him ten years ago and his connection to A.J. and he promises to take care of him and not to worry. Sam returns to Jason's room with Max. Sonny fills Sam in on what he found out from Alan about AJ’s letter. Sonny orders Max to watch Jason and not to let anyone into his room. Sonny and Sam go to Dr. Thomas's office. Dr. Thomas is trying to get rid of any evidence linking him to A.J. or Jason in any way when Sonny yells at him from the other side of the door and tells him he can't run from him now. Sonny breaks down the door with Sam behind him. Sonny has his gun out and he goes to the bathroom door that is closed and shoots at the lock to open it. Durant and some security guard comes in and tells Sonny to freeze. Sonny puts his gun away and tells Durant that he needs to find Dr. Thomas and explains to Durant what he found out about Dr. Thomas and what Alan told him. Durant doesn't believe Sonny or Sam and wants to arrest him. Reese comes into the room and warns Durant that if he lets Dr. Thomas get away because of his vendetta against Sonny she will make sure he pays. Carly shows up at Dr. Thomas' office and tells him she thinks he is in the chapel. However, Dr. Thomas dresses like a janitor and stands outside Jason's room. When Max's back is facing the hallway, Dr. Thomas hits Max from behind and knocks him out. He pulls his body away from the hallway and goes into Jason's room and shuts all the blinds. He approaches Jason's bed and takes out his syringe with the lethal drug and starts to get ready to inject Jason with it when Jason's arm comes up and grabs Dr. Thomas' arm to stop him. Dr. Thomas tries to kills Jason with a lethal injection into his IV but Jason wakes up and is able to prevent Dr. Thomas from carrying his diabolical plan out. He accuses Dr. Thomas of murdering which Dr. Thomas admits to. They end up struggling over the syringe until Sam walks in. She is immediately taken hostage by Dr. Thomas who holds the lethal syringe to her neck and reveals everything. He tells them of AJ giving him a significant amount of money to put Jason out of his misery when they believed he would remain in a persistent vegetative state, Alan resuscitating Jason, AJ blackmailing Dr. Thomas into saying he was insane at the time of Michael's abduction, and of killing AJ. Sonny comes into the room but is unable to convince Dr. Thomas to release Sam. Dr. Thomas escapes and takes Sam with him. As Carly nears Jason's room, she spots a police officer standing outside the room. She makes a quick call to Jason's room and is told that Dr. Thomas is still in the hospital and is holding Sam hostage. After Carly hangs up the phone, she creates a diversion, claiming to have seen Dr. Thomas. The police officer gives chase to the phantom Dr. Thomas while Jason and Sonny slip out of the room. Hiding out in a padded room in the psychiatric ward, Dr. Thomas tries to decide what to do. Sam makes an attempt to convince him to turn himself over to the police but Dr. Thomas laughs at the idea. Sam switches tactics and tries to assure him that she could arrange for him to get out of town with a lot of money if he gives her the cell phone so that she can call Jason. Dr. Thomas doesn't trust her and makes his own arrangements. He calls for a MedEvac helicopter to meet him on the roof of the hospital to transport a mentally ill patient (Sam) immediately. After he ends the call, he grabs Sam and leaves the room. Reese is waiting on the other side with her gun drawn. She tries to get Dr. Thomas to release Sam but Dr. Thomas refuses to. He warns her that if she tries to shoot him, he will be able to inject Sam with the syringe and kill her before the bullet hits him. He asks Reese if she's willing to take the chance of explaining Sam's death to Jason and Sonny. Reese lowers her gun. Before he makes his getaway, Dr. Thomas injects a powerful sedative into Sam. Jason and Sonny break through the door and Jason rushes to get help for Sam. Due to a bus accident, all attending physicians are busy so Sam's life is left up to Emily. Emily finds the serum she needs to counteract the drug Dr. Thomas gave her and tries to revive Sam. When she awakens, her heart is beating rapidly and she is out of breath. Tony comes to check on Sam and tells them that the reaction is normal due to the initial drug entering Sam's blood stream. Dr. Thomas escapes the hospital in a helicopter and lands at the Quartermaine mansion. Alan goes to call the police, but finds Dr. Thomas with a shotgun. Alan asks why Dr. Thomas is aiming the gun at him. Dr. Thomas tells him that 10 years ago, he agreed to kill Jason for AJ. Unfortunately, Jason wasn't as far gone as he thought he was, and has now remembered everything and is aiming to kill him. Alan tells him he is a dead man. If Jason intends to kill him, he's dead. Dr. Thomas disagrees and tells him he's going to make it look like Alan hired him to kill Jason, not AJ. He's going to skip town. Monica approaches from outside in the garden and spies Dr. Thomas holding a gun to Alan. As Sam stabilizes, Jason leaves the room to receive a phone call from Monica. She tells him that Dr. Thomas is holding a gun to Alan, but after she hangs up Dr. Thomas finds her and tells her to put the phone down before she makes a call. Or, he asks, if he too late. Jason rushes out of the hospital, telling Sonny that this is his fight to fight. Carly rushes after Jason, but Sonny stops her. Sonny goes to visit Sam in the hospital. She tells him she's worried about Jason, but she understands why he's doing what he's doing. Sonny compliments her on the way she treats Jason. He apologizes for not trusting her initially when she came to town, but he's grateful she's a part of Jason's life and his own. Sam tries to leave the hospital to go help Jason. Emily comes in to stop her, though, and they move her to a room. Emily tells her that Jason was the real reason why Sam recovered and he will come back for her. Dr. Thomas pushes Monica into the study with Alan. She asks how Alan is doing, but before he can answer Dr. Thomas demands a jet to get out of the country and money. Monica makes him promise he won't hurt either her or Alan before she starts making any phone calls to arrange for his demands. As she goes to the phone, Alan tells Dr. Thomas he's better off staying and letting the police catch him than running and letting Jason catch him. When Alan asks him if he's always been this crazy, Dr. Thomas rams the butt of the shotgun into Alan. Monica finishes making the arrangements, and Dr. Thomas explains that he's going to take Monica as insurance. Before he can leave, Jason walks in with a gun to his head. Dr. Thomas rushes to put a knife to Monica's throat. Before Jason can shoot him, Dr. Thomas tries to convince Jason that Alan was the one who hired him to kill Jason. Jason turns the gun on Alan. It appears he's going to kill Alan, but instead shoots Dr. Thomas and kills him. Jason asks if it was his heart stopping that caused the brain damage. Monica tells him they'll never know if it was Dr. Thomas or AJ that caused the brain damage, but maybe it's easier to believe it was Dr. Thomas. Jason tells them it was the best thing that ever happened to him. Michael is relieved to see Jason alive and well. Jason talks to Michael about Dr. Thomas' death, Jodie, and AJ's death. Michael is still concerned that he can't remember the past about AJ, but Jason tells him it will come back with time. Before Sam and Jason can leave, Mike tells them Sonny has a surprise for them and he's left it up to Mike and Michael to deliver. They all go into Ruby's diner, but Michael goes back for his toy outside. As he starts to head back in, Jodie approaches him and says hi. Jodie tells him that she's a part of him made up to help him. He seems to find peace with the situation before Jason shows him back inside. Inside Ruby's, Jason and Sam find clues, an Uncle Sam hat and a moving fish. It turns out their surprise is to take a trip on Sonny's boat for two weeks. He said Sonny told him the two of them needed to get away and spend some time together. Michael tells them it's the love boat. When they ask about the Uncle Sam hat, Mike says that part is actually Michael's surprise. He's going to New York to see the Yankees play. When they leave, Jason tells Sam they're not coming back until they find the perfect place to get married. When they go to the bedroom, it appears that Sonny didn't miss a thing. Their room is decorated with rose petals, with champagne on ice, and a CD player with romantic music. As Jason turns the music on, Sam tells her of her wishes she made that night many nights ago. She tells him she wished Michael would come home safe and that Jason would want to marry her again someday. He kisses her and tells her all her wishes came true. As they sit out on the deck with champagne, Sam hears the wind shift. She tells Jason they some people believe that to be a bad omen. He brushes it off, though. Inside, a gloved hand is fingering Sam's necklace that she left hanging in the bedroom. Jason and Sam are not alone on the yacht. As Sam notices that her necklace is missing, someone is hidden nearby watching Sam and Jason. Jason suggests retracing their steps in the hopes of finding the necklace. When they finally return to the room, empty-handed, Sam immediately spots the necklace where she had left it. Both are baffled by its sudden appearance but dismiss it as an odd occurrence. Jason and Sam then curl up and cuddle on the bed. They hear a loud noise followed by an announcement from the San Sereno Sea Patrol that the yacht is being boarded. Jason and Sam get up and go to the deck to find out what is going on. Two uniformed men immediately restrain Jason while another rips Sam's newfound necklace from her neck claiming that it was reported stolen by the Montenegro family. Accused of being thieves, Sam and Jason are taken into custody. However, they are not taken to a jail. Instead they are taken to a barn. Jason quickly realizes that the men who took them are not really who they claim they are. This is further confirmed when Jason is able to rip away one of the phony badges which turns out to be plastic. While Jason is cuffed to a pipe, Sam is taken from the barn. Jason later hears a woman softly weeping nearby. Fearing it's Sam he calls out to her. Meanwhile Sam is taken to a mansion. A beautiful older woman, Allegra, soon joins her and is taken aback when she sees Sam, "Oh my god, its you!" she exclaims. Allegra introduces herself to Sam and explains that she has been chosen to replace her daughter Alicia who died. She goes on to tell her that Sam is to take her place and marry her daughter's fiancé. As Sam protests, Allegra explains how easy it will be for her to fool her future groom; Allegra shows her a painting of Alicia, her look-alike. Sam pulls a knife from the wall and threatens to kill her but her captor is unimpressed. Saying that her family's legacy is at stake, Allegra defends doing anything in her power including killing Jason. Sam agrees to the idea after Allegra assures her she and Jason can go on their way once she marries Andrew. However, to prove to Andrew that she is her daughter, she'll have to learn to dance. Sam tries to run out but bumps into Andrew who tries to kiss her. Sam responds with a vicious slap. Meanwhile, still locked in the basement, Jason hears a woman moaning and tries to get to her. Sam takes great exception to Andrew kissing her. She pulls away from Andrew and slaps him soundly. Andrew is amused by "Allie's" reaction. Before Sam can set Andrew straight about whom she really is, Allegra steps in and manages to send Andrew on his way. Once Andrew is gone, Allegra turns her attention to Sam. Sam tries to reason with her, warning her that Andrew will see through the ruse, but Allegra assures her that he won't. She tells Sam that Andrew knows Allie as a spirited young woman and that the first time they met, Allie was dancing naked in a fountain. Allegra leaves Sam, reminding her that Jason's life is on the line so Sam should think carefully before deciding her next move. Andrew enters through the terrace doors moments later, claiming that he couldn't stay away from Allie. He tells her that he is fully aware that Allegra is determined to see they are married because of his wealth and feels that a cash infusion of the family coffers is a small price to pay to have Allie as his wife. He then takes "Allie" in his arms to dance, much to Sam's objections. When Sam stumbles, she tries to cover up her inability to dance by claiming to have hurt her ankle. Andrew doesn't believe her. He tells her that his Allie would be able to tango on crutches. He looks at Sam intently and then announces that there is something different about her. When he hears someone coming, he quickly slips out of the terrace doors. Jason finds Alicia in the room next to where he's being imprisoned and is immediately struck by her resemblance to Sam. Allie, as she prefers to be called, explains that her mother locked her up when Allie refused to marry Andrew. Jason quickly realizes that Allegra plans to have Sam stand in for Allie. When Jason questions why Allegra would be so intent as to kidnap a woman and have her pose as her daughter in order to marry a man, Allie explains that she comes from a long line of "layabouts and dilettantes." As a result of her wastrel ancestors, the family coffers are empty. Andrew, who is extremely wealthy, is Allegra's solution. Unfortunately for Allegra, Allie is in-love with another man and refuses to marry Andrew. Just then they hear someone approach. Allie quickly hides while Jason rolls a barrel to hide the hole that he and Allie dug between the two rooms. Allegra walks in moments after Jason resumes his position with his hands cuffed to the wall. She announces that she has decided that Sam needs inducement to cooperate and Jason is just the person she needs to achieve that goal. With her guard's help, Allegra has Jason brought to Sam. She instructs Jason to persuade Sam into cooperating and leaves the alone to talk. Jason quickly tells Sam about Allie and then suggests that Sam go along with Allegra to buy them some time until he can figure out how to escape. Jason changes his mind though when he learns that part of Allegra's plan is for Sam to consummate the marriage. They attempt to escape then but are quickly thwarted when Allegra's guards block all of the exits. Jason is brought back to his prison while Sam is left alone. Andrew sneaks back in and announces that he's figured out what is different about Allie. He knows that she was in-love with another man and that she had gone to Corfu to be with him. Clearly he must have rejected Allie because the loathing that once was in her eyes when she looked at Andrew is now gone. Sam plays along with it up to a point. Andrew turns on the music and tells "Allie" that he would never make love to a woman while another man was in her heart but clearly that is no longer the case. Sam becomes nervous when he adds that it's time for them to act like adults just before he reaches for her. Meanwhile, Jason is once again chained to the wall and left alone. He tries to use a piece of metal to pick the lock on his cuffs but drops it when Allie sneaks back in. She finds it but hesitates to give it to Jason until he agrees to help her escape so that she can return to Greece where her lover, who is wanted, is hiding out. Jason refuses. He has no intention of leaving without Sam. Allie slips the piece of metal into her bra and warns Jason that he will remain chained to the wall until he is more agreeable to her plans. Sam fends off Andrew just as Allegra walks in to discuss wedding plans with her daughter. Sam accuses her of either being a manipulative con artist or a cold-hearted mother. Sam tells her about growing up with a con artist father and a mother who didn't want her. Allegra tries convincing her that she's not a con artist, but Sam doesn't buy it. When Sam comments about her lack of grievance, Allegra tells her she doesn't believe her daughter is dead. Sam wants to know why Allegra needs her if her daughter is dead. Allegra explains that she's trying to protect her daughter by keeping her away from the spineless man she's in love with. Allegra wants Sam to sleep with Andrew, who thinks she's Alicia, and then she's free to divorce him and they will split cash from the marriage afterwards. Allie bribes Jason into helping her. She tells him she's going to name her first-born child after him. Just as Jason uses the key Alicia gave him to remove the handcuffs, Sam rushes in and hugs him. He tells her to grab a letter opener and bring it back to him. Jason tells Alicia that he and Sam will handle her mother and then they will be out of there. Alicia tells him there is no handling of her mother. He just sent his girlfriend into the fangs of a snake. Sam pulls the letter opener from the desk drawer and Allegra walks in. She's brought Sam some evening gowns and jewelry. Sam plays along, ogling at the pretty dresses. Allegra spies the letter opener behind Sam's back in a mirror, though, and tells her to go ahead and stick the blade through her heart. She asks Sam to protect Alicia, though. Allie asks Jason how Sam's relationship with her mother is. When she learns that Sam's mother is dead, Allie realizes that her mother will use that to her advantage. When her mother is done using someone, they disappear. Meanwhile, Allegra is telling Sam that if she has to kill her, just make sure to protect her daughter. Allegra goes on to explain how her mother always told her to protect their family. Allegra tries telling Sam that she wants out of this mess and wants to make amends with her daughter. She tells her the only way out now is for Sam to kill her. Back in the cellar, Jason and Allie hear a sound and Allie hides. Allegra walks in and Jason asks about Sam. Allegra insists that Sam is ok and the two of them are bonding over Sam's lack of a mother. When Allegra turns her back, Jason grabs her by the throat and insists on seeing Sam. He tells her Sam would be able to see through her scam a mile away. One of Allegra's goons comes in with a gun, so Jason is forced to let Allegra go. She does allow Jason to go see Sam. Sam is relieved to see him. Jason hugs her, but starts searching for the phone that Allie told him was hidden in the room. He picks up the phone and an operator answers and asks for an access word. He doesn't know the access word, so he's forced to hang up. Sam tells him it's going to be a whole lot easier just to do what Allegra wants. Jason realizes that Sam is falling for Allegra's lies. Down in the cellar, Allie and Allegra talk. Allegra tells Allie that Sam is a sweet girl who is serving a purpose, unlike Allie. Sam and Jason get to spend a few minutes alone together upstairs. Jason tells Sam that he has been watching the guards and knows when they change shifts and that is when they should make their escape. Allegra comes in with some guards and tells them their time is up. She orders her men to take Jason back down to the cellar. When Sam is alone with Allegra, she agrees to marry Andrew and buy her and Jason's freedom. Andrew shows up and asks to eat dinner with just "Alicia" this evening. Allegra acts like it is an insult to her since she feels that she should act as a chaperone since the two of them aren't married yet. Andrew insists that he spend the evening alone with his fiancé or he may not marry her at all. Allegra reluctantly leaves them alone after Sam tells her it is all right. Allegra hugs Sam and whispers in her ear that she better not try anything because she still has Jason locked up. After Allegra leaves, Sam suggests to Andrew she may not be who he thinks she is. Jason goes back to the cellar and the real Alicia tells him that she bribed one of the head guards with the promise of giving him one of her sapphire earrings in exchange for helping them escape. Alicia tells Jason that she doesn't want Sam to have to marry some guy for convenience and doesn't mind helping her escape as long as Jason promises to bring her along and not leave her here with her mother. Allegra shows up with the guards and doesn't like seeing her talking to Jason. She tells them to put Alicia somewhere else and lock her up. Alicia fights with the guards to let her go so she can walk on her own. She runs over to Jason and hugs him suddenly asking him to not let them take her away. She uses that opportunity to place the sapphire earring in his back pants pocket. Andrew wants to dance the Rumba with Sam, thinking she is Alicia and can dance. Sam tries to follow his lead but falls down on the floor. Andrew tells her that he is falling in love with her. He tells her he has a surprise for her. Jason waits until one of the guards comes in to bring him a meal. He surprises the guard and knocks him out and handcuffs him to the wall. He goes to the other wall where there is a hole and calls out for Alicia who doesn't answer and he realizes they put her in another cell. He takes off upstairs to get Sam. Allegra and some of her men show up in the living room upstairs before him and find no sign of Sam or Andrew. Jason comes in the room and asks them where Sam is. Allegra tells him she disappeared with Andrew and she thinks she knows what they are doing. While this is going on, Andrew blindfolds Sam and takes her to one of his estates. Sam takes the blindfold off and admires the fountain and statues and asks him where they are. He informs her that he plans to marry her right now and has a priest waiting on hold and that he doesn't trust Allegra and what she has planned for them. Jason grabs Allegra; he wants to know where Sam is. Sam tells Andrew she hasn't been completely honest with him. Andrew talks Sam, who he believes is Alicia, into marrying him right away. Allegra tells Jason that Andrew is marrying Sam right now. Jason goes to find Sam but collapses before he can get too far. Andrew and Sam (Allie) are exchanging wedding vows, his vows are very moving and Sam imagines that Jason is standing in front of her so she can come up with touching vows of her own. She cries as she says her vows thinking of Jason. The minister pronounces them man and wife. Andrew wants a dance to celebrate the fact that they are newlyweds. Sam (Alicia) explains that she can't remember everything he taught her about dancing. He says to trust him and they begin to Waltz. Sam (Alicia) follows Andrews’s lead and dances beautifully. Jason wakes up handcuffed in the barn again. He is disoriented. Allegra comes to the barn to see Jason. Jason handcuffs her to the pipe and leaves to find Sam. He stumbles then falls to his knees. Andrew brings his new bride to the bedroom. Sam tries to find a way to avoid sleeping with Andrew. Alicia helps Jason escape by keeping her mother locked up longer. Before Alicia unlocks her mother, a good comes in to Allegra's rescue. Jason searches for Sam and Andrew. A priest tells him that he married the two just a while ago and they are on their honeymoon now. Jason grabs him and demands he tell him where they are at now. Sam confesses to Andrew that she is not Alicia. At first he doesn't believe her, but after Sam explains her heartfelt love for Jason, he realizes she is telling the truth. Just after the two of them leave to go find Jason, Jason walks in the room and collapses. Sam and Andrew find Allegra and tell her the scheme is up. Andrew knows that his fiancé is locked in a wine cellar. It appears everything is going to be fine and Sam is going to go find Jason, but two goons come in and grab her. Sam realizes they were playing her as she's being taken away. Meanwhile, Allegra's goons find an unconscious Jason. Just as they start to pick him up, he wakes up and starts fighting for his life. Sam is locked in the wine cellar, but someone slips the key under the door. She runs out, looking for Jason. She finds him, unconscious with Andrew lying next to him on the floor in the living room. Sam wakes him up, but Jason remembers nothing. Andrew is dead, and Jason doesn't know how or why he died. Allegra walks in and accuses Jason of killing Andrew. She tells the two of them she will create a diversion for the two of them to leave. After they leave, Allegra calls the cops and says there's a jewel thief on the island and he's killed her son-in-law. When she hangs up, one of her goons comes in and tells her Alicia is missing again. Once on the boat, Sam confronts Jason about his apparent issues. She wants to know what's going on, but he stares at her blankly. Sam and Jason are on the boat. Sam says that there is something very wrong with him and she wants him to tell her what's going on. Jason tells Sam that he barely ate while he was chained to the pipe in the wine cellar and that is why he has been having these spells. He walks out to the deck and discovers that his nose is bleeding. Jason tells Sam he just needs to rest to get rid of the headache. Sam walks away but hearing a thump, turns around to find Jason passed out on the deck. Sam tells Jason she is going to take him to a hospital. Jason says no hospitals please, but Sam says she is taking him because she can't sit back and watch him die. At a hospital, Sam is talks to the doctor who is treating Jason. He tells her he can't figure out what is wrong with him and he needs to go to a regional hospital. He tells Sam to talk to Jason and try to bring him back before he slips into a deeper coma and doesn't wake up. Sam holds Jason's hand and asks him not to leave her. Sam tells Jason that he taught her how to love and she finally feels safe, but she needs him to stay with her. Jason opens his eyes but he looks confused. He looks at Sam and asks who are you? Jason wakes up after passing out again. Sam is right there when he wakes up. Jason looks at her in confusion and asks her who she is. Sam is taken aback at this new wrinkle. She tells him her name and that she took him to a clinic nearby. He asks her who he is and what he is doing there. She explains that he passed out after having these really bad headaches. Sam goes to talk to the doctor. She tells him what she knows about Jason and his accident 10 years ago and how it left him brain damaged. Jason overhears them talking. The doctor advises her to keep Jason calm. Sam returns to his room. Jason takes out a picture in his wallet of Michael and Morgan and asks her if they are his children. Sam explains that they are the children of his best friend, Sonny Corinthos, whom he works for as well. She explains the accident he was in 10 years ago and how it wiped out his entire memory of childhood and anything that happened up until his accident and how he became estranged from his family and that Sonny, his ex-wife Carly, and their children became his new family. She also tells him about the history of their relationship. Jason asks her what he does for a living. Sam tells him she will explain everything but that she needs to talk to the doctor again. Jason wants to leave the clinic and take off. Sam tries to grab his arm from behind to stop him from leaving his room and Jason reacts by grabbing her and throwing her up against the wall and puts his arm across her throat. Jason tries to leave his room again but two orderlies restrain him while the doctor injects him with a tranquilizer. Sam tries to get the doctor to not inject him with anything but it is too late. Jason passes out again. He wakes up again and remembers Sam's name but still doesn't remember anything else really. Sam persuades him into resting while she goes to talk to the doctor. Jason still wants to get out of the clinic on his own but agrees to stay still until she gets back. Sam is grabbed from behind when she leaves Jason's room. Allegra shows up with her two goons and tells her that she was willing to let her go with Jason but then Alicia disappeared suddenly without warning and that she needs her one more time. Allegra instructs some of her other men to go in and get Jason. They go into Jason's room and try to take them with him. Jason asks them where they took Sam. They won't tell him. Jason takes on the two men and grabs their guns and shoots them both down. Jason looks at what he just did and wonders what he does for a living. Two men (Allegra's goons) enter Jason's hospital room; instinctively Jason gets their guns and shoots them both. Jason wonders how he was able to do that. Jason is questioning the doctor about Sam's whereabouts when one of the goons he shot crawls from the hospital room and aims a gun at Jason. Jason grabs the gun, gets him in a chokehold, and begins questioning the man about Sam. He tells Jason that Sam is on the same island that he had been on for days. Jason doesn't remember the island but he tells the goon to take him back there. Allegra brought Sam back to her mansion; she wants Sam to impersonate Alicia once again to sign a document that will give Allegra Andrews money. Allegra promises Sam that Jason is being taken care of and she should just concentrate on forging Alicia's signature. The police show up and arrest Sam for the murder of Andrew. Jason shows up at Allegra's only to find out that Sam has been arrested. Just then Alicia shows herself. She tells Allegra that she killed Andrew. Alicia tries to get Allegra to go along with pinning Andrew's murder on Sam so they can split the money and walk away, but Allegra holds the gun on Alicia and tells her she has a better plan. Sam is in a jail cell trying to con her way out when Jason shows up. Allegra forces Alicia in Sam's cell to replace Sam. Sam knocks Alicia out and then puts on her clothes. They leave Alicia there to pay her dues for killing Andrew. Back at Allegra's mansion, Allegra tells Sam that Alicia could never really love anyone but that she and Jason have love in abundance. Sam thanks Allegra but Allegra says, "Don't thank me after all the terrible things I have done." Jason explains to Sam how he rescued her purely by instinct. Sam tries to explain to Jason what he does for a living. Jason is shocked and obviously disturbed. She leaves to go get the boat, and he disappears out the back door. When Sam comes back, Allegra is shocked to find her still there. Sam is also shocked that Jason is not there. She tells Allegra about Jason's amnesia and his headaches. Allegra immediately calls her men in to find Jason. Sam is worried that someone is going to get hurt. Jason experiences a headache and falls over the side of the boat. As Allegra tries to ease Sam's fears about her genuine concern for them, one of her men comes in and tells them he found a body. They go to the boat, and Sam kneels over a body covered in a sheet. Next to the body is the hospital band Jason was wearing. Sam looks under the sheet, but it's not Jason. It's a fisherman from the island. Jason is still missing, though. Just then a man walks on the boat and tells them that Jason just hopped a plane to Portugal. After he leaves, Jason approaches the man and pays him. The man tells Jason the boat will take him to Port Charles. Jason is hiding on the terrace at Sonny's, while Sonny and Reese try to find Carly. While Sonny is telling Max to fire one of the guards for letting Carly escape unnoticed, Jason is listening from behind a brick wall. Sonny tells Max to call Jason and tell him it's time to come back to work. Reese finds Carly on the docs; she tries to be understanding and wants to call Sonny but Carly throws Reese's phone into the water. Reese tries to restrain Carly and keep her from leaving but Jason shows up. Jason pushes Reese away from Carly. Carly thinking that Jason was going to take care of her now; asks Jason to take her home. Jason takes Carly but he clearly does not understand who Carly really is. Reese returns to Sonny's to tell him she found Carly but Jason showed up and left with Carly. Reese tells Sonny that Jason looked strange and he didn't recognize her at all. Jason takes Carly back to Kelly's and tells her she will be safe here. Carly pours her heart out to Jason telling him everything that has gone wrong recently; she is expecting him to be understanding and help her through this. Jason has no choice but to tell her that he knows he is supposed to be her friend and he knows that her name is Carly, but something happened to him, and he doesn't remember her. Carly tells Jason that he promised to be there for her, she's falling and she needs him now. He offers to take her somewhere safe. She can't believe he will not help her. She calls him a liar and tells him she doesn't trust him and runs off. Sonny knows that Jason has Carly and she will be fine. He trusts that Jason will know what to do to take care of Carly and make sure she is safe. Sonny leaves to go find Jason and Carly. Alan tells Jason that Sonny lied to get him to work as a hit man after he lost his memory the first time, ten years ago. Jason says that is not what Sam told him, but Alan rebuts with the fact that Sam was Sonny's girl before she was Jason's. Monica comes in and Alan introduces Jason to his mother; Alan looks at Monica and says our son has come home. Jason is confused when Alan tries to introduce Monica to him as his mother. Jason tells her he doesn't remember her or the family. Alan starts to bad-mouth Sonny to him to try and influence him. Monica tells Jason that he considered Sonny his best friend. Jason doesn't think he can trust what they are telling him. They explain to him about his accident 10 years ago and how he lost his whole memory back then. Alan suggests that Jason go to the hospital for tests and treatment. Jason is against going to the hospital at all. Monica tells him that she agrees with Alan about treatment. Jason takes off and Alan blames Monica for not telling Jason who Sonny really is and what he does for a living. Sam arrives back in Port Charles and heads to Sonny's mansion. She runs into Emily there. She explains to Emily about the severe headaches and seizures that Jason had during their vacation and how he doesn't remember who he is now and doesn't remember who she is. Emily agrees to help her find Jason. Jason ends up showing up at his penthouse. Nothing jogs his memory when he looks at a picture of Sam and him on the mantel. He does for some reason remember what is in his desk, a gun inside a safe-box in the drawer. He takes the gun out. Sam shows up at the penthouse. Jason asks her why he can remember having a gun and where it is located but can't remember who he is and who his friends and family are. Sam promises to answer all his questions. Emily shows up and persuades him along with Sam to go to the hospital and have some tests run to find out what is wrong with him. When he arrives at the hospital to be admitted, Sam isn't happy when Emily informs her that she called Alan in to sign some consent forms for Jason since he needs a spouse or parent to sign since he isn't capable of signing consent without his memory in tact. Sam reluctantly agrees when she has no choice. Alan shows up in Jason's room and orders them to have him restrained so he can give him a sedative. Jason starts fighting his restraints once he realizes what Alan is doing. Sam shows up in his room and points a gun at Alan and warns him to let Jason go or she will shoot him. Jason struggles against Alan and his hospital restraints. Sam pulls a gun on Alan and let's Jason out of the restraints. Jason runs out of the hospital room. In the hospital elevator, Jason runs into Sonny but tells Sonny to stay away from him. Sam doesn't believe that Alan truly wants to help Jason. She thinks Alan is just trying to get him back into the Quartermaine family. Alan tells Sam since Jason doesn't trust him she needs to get him back to the hospital or he is going to die. Sam agrees to bring Jason back. When Sonny questions Jason about Carly's whereabouts, Jason tells Sonny to find Carly himself. Sonny doesn't understand so Jason tells him that he doesn't know him. Sonny wants Jason to come back to the house so they can talk things through. Jason pushes Sonny out of the elevator and leaves. Sam shows up and tells Sonny they have to find Jason because he is sick and might have a brain aneurism. Sonny gets a call from Ric letting him in on the events of the flood and that Reese and Carly are missing. Sonny decides to head down to Florida. Sam tells Sonny she will take care of things with Jason. Sam finds Jason at the penthouse. She explains that she understands the pressure he is feeling with everyone telling him their version of his history. When he tries to take off she stops him. Sam tells Jason that he can die from a brain aneurism. Jason doesn't trust the hospitals or Alan. Sam convinces Jason that she will be there looking out for him. When Sam and Jason show up at the hospital Alan and Monica are there waiting, they promise not to restrain him again they just want him to let them perform some tests. Jason agrees. After taking Jason to his room, Sam leaves to make a call. She runs into Monica in the hallway and Monica announces that Jason may die. Monica tells Sam there is an obstruction in Jason's brain, which is causing the headaches and seizures. Jason overhears the seriousness of the situation, but Sam and Monica move out of hearing distance before too much is revealed. Emily comes to check on Jason and gets him back in bed. She tells him how she needs him, how he's been her rock in the past. Jason asks her to be honest with him and tell him how bad his illness is. Back in the waiting room, Tony is giving Sam and Monica the treatment options available to Jason. He can try a new drug and see if that helps to reduce the seizures. If not, the only option is brain surgery and that's extremely risky. Monica says Jason would never go for brain surgery, so that's not an option. Sam tells her it won't be needed because the medicine will work. She's determined to remain optimistic. She goes back to Jason's room and he asks her why she's upset. She tells him he is sick, but everything will be all right. Tony comes in and gives him the medication. Jason is hesitant to take the medication, because he's not sure if he actually wants to remember his old life. He asks Sam what she will do if he never regains his memory. She tells him she will start over and make a new life with him if she has to. Sam is giving Jason his medication at the hospital. She wants him to know that he is the love of her life and if he doesn't ever remember their love she will start all over with him. Jason and Sam are making a hasty exit from GH when they are caught by Monica. Monica warns that leaving the hospital is a bad idea. Monica asks Jason to give them a chance at the hospital. He is taking new medication and needs to be observed. Jason and Sam convince Monica that he will be okay at home and Sam will take good care of him. Alexis demands Jason tell her where Ric is. When Jason says he doesn't know. Alexis doesn't believe him. Sam explains Jason's health situation to Alexis. Alexis isn't buying it, she figures he's pulling the lost memory act so he can keep Sonny's secrets. Reese comes up and tells Alexis that Ric is at Sonny's. Alexis heads of to confront her husband. Reese asks Sam about Jason's health and she tries to introduce herself to Jason. Jason does not shake Rees's hand. As Reese leaves, Jason asks Sam if he liked Reese before or not. Sam says that he didn't really trust Reese and that she lies a lot. As they are talking two cops show up to arrest Jason. Jason pushes them off, grabs Sam, and runs away. Jason and Sam are on the docks. Sam is worried that Jason is going to be in a lot of trouble for assaulting those two cops. She tells him that since he has a medical condition he can explain his behavior. Jason turns himself in to the PCPD. Durant doesn't buy Sam's story about Jason being ill. He has Jason placed in an interrogation room. Jason wants to find a way out of the interrogation room. Monica shows up to explain Jason's medical situation to Durant. Durant doesn't believe her and decides to charge Jason with a felony for his assault on the cops, unless Sonny hands Carly over to him. Sonny shows up at the police station after Sam calls him. She tells him that Durant wants him to return Carly to him so he can have her treated or he will keep Jason under arrest until he does. Sonny tells her that he can't have Carly sent to Shady Brook because she will get worse if she is there since she was drugged and treated badly last time she was there. Sam tells him that Jason needs treatment as well or he could die because of what is going on with his brain right now. Sonny still refuses to give Carly up. Sam proposes to Durant that if she can convince Sonny to let Carly go, he promises to make sure Jason gets his medicine. Durant seems okay with that idea. Sam warns him that if he plays games with her and doesn't do what he promises, she will make him pay. Sam shows up and tries to convince Sonny to bring Carly in so Durant will let Jason go. Sonny refuses to do what Durant wants and suggests that jail is probably the best place for Jason right now so he can't get into any more trouble. Sam tells Sonny off for being willing to sacrifice Jason for Carly, who needs medical treatment. Sonny tells her he can't give Carly up and that he knows he can help her get better. In the interrogation room, Durant fills Jason in on his police record in a condescending tone. Jason pushes Durant's head down on the table and holds him there. Carly runs into the room suddenly and tells everyone that there are men outside with guns and they are out to get her. Sonny thinks she is hallucinating and tries to calm her down and assure her that he has guards all over the mansion and they can't get in. Suddenly there is gunfire and shots are fired through the windows of the living room where everyone is right then. Just then, Max falls through the entryway doors with a gunshot wound and gunfire breaks out through all of the windows. Sonny grabs Reese and Carly and throws them to the floor and covers them with his own body. Sam finds Ric on the floor, he has been shot. Two cops rush into the interrogation room, Durant tells them it is okay, that Jason had a momentary lapse in judgment. Jason lets Durant go. Durant is beginning to believe that Jason really has lost his memory. He then tells Jason that Sonny chose not to take him up on the deal to trade Carly for Jason. Durant wants Jason to know that Sonny is not here for him now when he needs him. Carly tells Sam that they are trying to put her away. She knows that Charlotte hates her and even though she calls herself Reese, she knows that she is really Charlotte. She asks Sam where Jason is and she says that he abandoned her. Sam tells her that Jason is sick and right now Sonny is at the hospital with Ric and Max, who were both shot. Sam tells her to pull herself together because Jason needs her. Sam tells Carly all she ever heard about her was that she was strong and a fighter. She talks about the bond that Carly and Jason have. Carly wants to help Jason. Sam wants Carly to go to her dad so he will set Jason free. Carly agrees to turn herself over for Jason's sake. Justus sits down and introduces himself to Jason as his cousin. Justus says this might seem strange to you and Jason says, "We passed strange a long time ago." Justus goes on to tell Jason that Sonny's house has been shot up and Sonny is convinced that Jason will help. Jason asks Justus what Sonny wants him to do. Carly and Sam come down the stairs into the living room at Sonny's house. They are about to head to the police station. Carly wants to help Jason, but she is just so tired. She wants to rest. Sam realizes how far gone Carly really is and she stops pushing her to rescue Jason. Carly asks what Jason would want and Sam says, "Jason would want you to rest and get better." She takes Carly back upstairs to rest. Sam puts Carly to bed as Carly continues to say she wants to help Jason. Justus got the charges dropped against Jason and brings him to Sonny. Sonny tells Jason that his family is in danger and he needs Jason's help. Even when Sonny says that Michael and Morgan could have been shot Jason is non-responsive. Sonny becomes angry but continues explaining that Lorenzo met with Manny Ruiz and got this whole thing started. Sonny wants Jason to kill Ruiz. Jason tells Sonny "I'm not killing anyone for you." Sonny apologizes for now knowing until now how lost Jason really is. Sonny begins to understand the depth of Jason's amnesia through their conversation. Jason storms off and Sonny tells Sam that Jason's going to be killed. He tells her to take him to the island if Jason really wants to discover who he is. When Jason walks down to the pier, two men are waiting for him. He takes the gun away from one of them and tells them to leave him alone. He doesn't know them and he doesn't want to kill them. After he leaves, the two men are happy to learn that Jason isn't Sonny's enforcer anymore, which leaves Sonny vulnerable. Maybe they can use Jason against Sonny. Sam comforts Carly when she wakes up. Sam tells her she wants her to get better because a lot of people care about her. Carly thinks to herself that Sam doesn't care about her, she only cares about Jason. Sam tells Jason about going to the island. It's somewhere he's been before, and he'll be safe there until the can figure out what he wants to do next. Jason tells her to forget it, because he's not going. He wants Sam to leave, because he doesn't want to put her in danger. Sam doesn't want to walk out on Jason, though. She needs him and he needs her. Jason tells her there's another way, and walks out of the penthouse, gun in hand. Jason shows up at the hospital and asks Tony why the medicine isn't working. Tony tells him if his seizures and headaches are going away, then the medicine is working. Jason isn't happy that he's not regaining his memory, though. Alan interrupts and tells him about the surgery option. It's risky, but it could be the answer to all their prayers. Alan tries to convince Jason to have the brain surgery, but Monica interjects with the possible downside to the surgery. When Sam comes to the hospital, he asks her why she didn't tell him about the possible surgery. He's furious that she wasn't honest with him. She apologizes, but was worried about what the surgery might do to him. He tells her she's the only one he has left, and he needs her to be honest with him. Ruiz comes into Ric's hospital room and threatens Sonny's family. Ric stumbles out in the hallway and finds Jason. He begs Jason to protect Sonny and his family. Jason tries to tell him he has no memory of Sonny or his family. Ric tells him that Sonny needs him more now than he will ever need Ric. As Jason starts to walk away, he suddenly remembers Sam's baby. He goes home and tells Sam he remembered holding the baby, and how devastating the event was to Sam. Through all this, he also remembered how much Sam meant to him. Sam is crying, but it's because she's happy Jason's finally remembering. Jason decides to go to the hospital to try to regain his memory. He doesn't want Sam to come along in case he really is a target of the mob. Sam tells him she decided a while ago that being with him was a risk she was willing to take so she is going with him to the hospital. Jason and Sam have found their way to the nursery at General Hospital. Sam immediately becomes emotional. Jason makes sure that she is ok, and then asks her to tell him everything about the day the baby died. She begins telling him the story as Jason is gazing into the nursery. When Sam notices Jason's head down she thinks he might be remembering something. He tells her no, but he remembers now why he would do anything for her. Sam explains to Jason how he stood by her and got her through the days after she lost her baby. She mentions how they leaned on each other through the memorial service and that he was the one who planned the service. At the church where the memorial service was held Sam continues filling Jason in on his past. She tells him that he does believe in God, but her beliefs are not as strong. She tells Jason that he has helped her believe that her daughter was going to a better place. Jason begins to have flashes of memory. Not about the memorial service but about a shootout he and Sonny had in a church. Jason asks Sam if something terrible happened at the church they are in. Sam says she doesn't think so other than the baby's memorial. Jason continues to have flashbacks of a shooting in a church where he has a gun in each hand. He remembers hitting a woman (Faith) and he kept shooting until nobody else moved. He is visibly upset and says out loud "What kind of person does that?" Jason is disturbed by the flashback he just had where he shot up some people in a church and one of those people was a blonde woman. Sam tells him that what he is starting to remember is that he shot a woman named Faith Roscoe who kidnapped Sonny's children and he was doing what he did to protect Sonny and his family. Jason tells her that he has a hard time condoning that kind of killing without a second thought to killing others because he works for Sonny. Sam tells him that he was just protecting his family. Jason still doesn't like that about his past. Sam tells him she will show him the reason why he did what he did for Sonny and his family. Sam and Jason show up at Kelly's and Sam shows Jason through the window who Michael is. Jason notices Michael looks happy with his sister Emily and the other guy. Sam points out that Mike is Sonny's father. Sam asks him if he wants to go inside and see Michael in person. Jason tells her he doesn't want to see Michael because he doesn't remember him. Sam tells him she won't force him to remember Michael and believes he will get his memory back eventually. Emily comes out of Kelly's suddenly with Michael and he spots Jason with Sam and runs over to him and hugs him. Jason is frozen and doesn't know how to respond to him. Michael peppers him with a bunch of questions about where he has been lately. Sam speaks for Jason and explains to Michael that Jason just got back from a business trip and hasn't had time to see him. Michael asks Jason if he could take him to the zoo soon to see the giraffes. Jason says yes to it but doesn't know what else to say. Michael takes off with Emily. Sam hopes that something about Michael stirred his memory but Jason is frustrated he can't remember Michael even though he seems like a great kid to him. Sam tells him not to worry about his memory and that she believes he will get it back eventually. She tells him that she wants him to keep taking his medicine and if that doesn't help him get his memory back they will discuss their other options. Jason tells her that even though he doesn't remember Michael, he knows that he would do anything for her for some reason. Sam suggests that they just go for a walk without thinking about anything but the present and enjoying the park. Jason has the urge to hold her hand but Sam doesn't want to pressure him so she puts her hand back to her side. Ruiz and his men meet with Ric in the park. Ric gets weaker from being out the hospital too soon and starts to sweat profusely. Ric pretends he is going to take a deal to Sonny and that Sonny will agree to it. Ric goes to get his coat and takes the gun and points it at Ruiz and his men. Ruiz tells him to put the gun down and dares him to shoot him and survive. Ric cocks the gun to show he means business but he isn't able to pull trigger. One of Ruiz's men comes up and grabs Ric by the arms and pulls them behind him to hold him. Suddenly Reese shows up to help him. She shoots at Ruiz and his men. Ric grabs Reese and shoves her to the ground when the shootout begins. Jason shows up with Sam all of a sudden and instinctively reacts to the shootout by killing all of Ruiz's men. Ruiz is still alive and tries to shoot Ric and Jason but Ric gets hold of a gun and approaches Ruiz and shoots him. Jason, Reese, and Sam watch Ric shoot Ruiz and are shocked by what they see. Jason grabs Sam and they make a quick get away. At the penthouse Jason wants Sam to change her clothes and bring them to him so he can destroy any evidence they may have on them. Jason is burning their clothes but he is upset and doesn't understand how he can continue to kill. He notices a bruise on Sam's wrist he believes he hurt her when he grabbed her. Jason wants to know if it bothers Sam that he just shot three guys. Sam explains that he only acts to defend the people he cares about. Mac shows up and wants to take Jason down to the station for questioning. At the police station, they put Jason and Sonny in the same room to interrogate them. Durant tries to get to Jason by talking about his accident ten years ago. He wants Jason to think that Sonny used him when he was mentally impaired. Jason refuses to talk without his lawyer garnering a nod of acceptance from Sonny. Sam is explaining to Emily what happened in the park. Sam says as they were walking in the park a bullet went flying by her head and Jason sprang into action and killed all of Ruiz's guys. She tells Emily that she had never seen him work before. Emily wants to know if that changes how Sam feels about him. Sam says no, she just never really saw him work before and she can't explain to Jason why he does what he does. Jason is set free after the residue tests come back negative. Durant tells them that Ruiz is not actually dead and when he regains consciousness he will be happy to tell the police who the shooter was. Emily tells Sam that her situation with Nikolas is not a matter of life and death like Sam and Jason have to deal with. Sam says that Jason hates the violence and doesn't want to remember the person he was. After being released Jason heads back to the penthouse where Sonny shows up. He starts giving Jason orders, but Jason angrily responds that he is done killing for Sonny. He doesn't want any part of his business or his life. Sonny goes to the penthouse and tries to convince Jason he needs to leave town. After telling him about how they first met, Jason realizes that Sonny didn't coerce him into being a hit man. Sonny tells him he needs to leave in order to be safe, but he can always come home. When Sonny leaves, he finds Sam on the pier. He tells her that Jason is leaving town and she can't go with him. She's upset, but he tells her she will slow Jason down and if she loves him she must let him go. Sam goes to find Jason and sees that he's already packing his bag. Before he leaves, she thanks him for his patience and for giving her a life when she didn't have one. She reminds him to take his pills and he leaves. He hesitates at the elevator while she cries inside the penthouse. Jason goes to the hospital to ask Dr. Jones about getting refills of his medication. Tony asks if he's going on a trip, but Jason tells him he's going away for good. Jason leaves the hospital and goes to the graveyard. He talks to Sam's baby and tells her to pray for her mother because she's having a hard time right now and he doesn't want to see her get hurt. Sam also goes to the graveyard and finds him there. She thanks him for picking out such a beautiful spot for a baby that never breathed. She explained how he picked the spot out for her so she wouldn't have to. Jason realizes he doesn't want to leave Sam after all. They decide to go home together. When they arrive back at the penthouse, he asks what there is to eat. Sam suggests Chinese food and he asks her if he really likes that kind of food or if she's just telling him he does. Sam admits there are some things he doesn't like, and tells him how he spit out squid when she made him try it. Jason decides salad is the best option. Before they go eat, though, he takes her hand and they share a special moment. Sam arrives at the penthouse with groceries but Jason is not there. She calls Sonny to see if he is there, but Jason walks in. He had been taking a walk. Sam overreacted but Jason tells her he is not going to leave her. Jason is impressed with Sam's handling of his memory loss. Sam says he gives compliments the same way he used to. Then Jason says did I ever tell you that you were beautiful? Sam explains that the old Jason would always just tell her what he felt not what he thought she wanted to hear. Sam say's that she thinks of her little girl as their guardian angel, she thinks that might be stupid but Jason says no because there is a reason they both showed up at her grave last night. He goes on to tell her that the only thing he is sure of right now is her. Jason wants to know how he and Sam's life works. What do they do on a normal night? Sam says they didn't have normal nights. When he pushes her she says they used to shoot pool, he loves spending time with Michael and Morgan, or take rides on the motorcycle. When she gets to the part about coming home, she hesitates, and then says, "You love bubble baths, shopping, and painting my toe nails." He laughs; he can't believe he liked all that stuff. She says all that stuff doesn't matter to her; as long as they are together she is happy. Jason wants to find a job. Sam explains that he is in partnership with Sonny. Jason says no he doesn't want to take any of that money. He asks her if she agrees, which she does. Jason decides he wants to find something in town that doesn't involve hurting people. After looking for work, Jason discovers that nobody wants to hire him. He and Sam talk about teaming up in the salvage business when a gentleman that Sam knows walks up telling her that his best crane operator just walked out on the job. He asks Sam if she is still working freelance. Sam back peddles saying his rig is too advanced for her. Jason offers to take the job. The guy is surprised saying everyone knows Jason Morgan. He offers Jason the job at $50.00 per hour. Jason begins working immediately. The guy who hired Jason is impressed with his work but still concerned about Jason's connection to Sonny. Jason assures him that he doesn't work for Sonny anymore. Reese shows up at the penthouse to warn Sam that if Jason doesn't do anything to stop the remaining Ruiz family, Sonny and Ric will both be dead. Sam tells Reese she can't help her. Jason doesn't work for Sonny anymore. Reese believes that Sam is keeping Jason to herself. Sam tries to explain that Jason is making his own decisions. She has no control. When Reese tells Sam Jason has to do one last job; Jason walks in and asks what he has to do. Jason comes home to find Reese and Sam talking about him. Jason overhears Reese tell Sam that he must go and get rid of Javier Ruiz, who just came to town to avenge the death of his brother. Jason tells Reese he doesn't work for Sonny anymore which means he doesn't kill anyone anymore. Reese pleads with Jason to do this last hit for Sonny and then promises him that they will leave him alone to start a new life afterwards. Jason doesn't give Reese an answer so she leaves them alone. Jason gets his gun out and Sam sees that he means to go out and kill Javier Ruiz and tells him she can't let him go out there now and get himself killed in the process. Jason explains to her that if he does this last thing for Sonny, Sonny will let him go to live his life. Sam realizes she can't stop Jason from doing what he is doing and lets him go. Sam goes to see Sonny. Sam tells Sonny that Jason is out there ready to kill Ruiz for him as a final job so he can move on with his life. She asks Sonny to stop Jason from getting himself killed since he doesn't know what he is doing right now. Sonny assures her he didn't pressure Jason to kill Ruiz but he did it anyway because it is instinctual for him. Sam leaves the mansion. She goes home to wait for Jason. Jason goes to Kelly's and finds Javier Ruiz inside. He takes out his gun and puts a silencer on it. He doesn't shoot Ruiz through the window because there are too many bystanders around. Ruiz comes out of Kelly's and gets a call on his cell-phone just as Jason has a clear shot of him without witnesses. He overhears Ruiz talking to his young daughter on the phone telling her it is past her bedtime. Jason can't go through with it and goes back home. He tells Sam he couldn't go through with it since he can't just shoot someone he doesn't know even though he knows how to kill someone professionally. He tells Sam that he can't kill for Sonny anymore because Sonny will always have enemies who he will need Jason to get rid of for. Sam tells him she will accept his decision. Jason kisses Sam and heads to the stairs to go up to bed. He puts his hand out to Sam for her to take and they go upstairs to their bedroom together arm and arm. A beaming Sam enjoys reconnecting with Jason on a more intimate basis. Warning Jason he's almost certainly the next name on Ruiz's hit list, Ric advises him to take Sam and leave town at once. Jason and Sam share a tender evening together and decide they aren't leaving town. Jason leaves for work (and Sam makes him take his gun) as he arrives for work he sees someone aiming to shoot him and pulls a man out of the way and shoots at the perpetrator. The man he saves is none other than the Ruiz brother sent to kill Jason and Ric. Ruiz tells Jason Sonny isn't going to be happy with him (Jason) because that hit was meant for him (Ruiz). Jason tells him that he was told that Javier was going to target him next and that he may need to kill Javier to protect himself still. Javier tells him that his brother is fighting for his life at the hospital and that in their business you retaliate against the enemy who killed or harmed your family by harming a member of their family in return. Jason tells Javier that it is pointless to retaliate all of the time and asks him what they do when every one is killed. Javier tells him he should know what the code is if he works for Sonny. Jason insists that he doesn't work for Sonny anymore and that all he wants is to be left alone. Javier tells him that he will leave him alone. After Javier leaves the docks, Sam shows up and tells Jason that she wants to call Jason's new boss and call him in sick for the night. Jason worries that he won't have a job if he calls in sick so soon after getting the job on the docks. Suddenly they can hear police sirens coming closer to the docks. Sam tells Jason that the cops are going to show up any minute after gunshots were reported there and they will arrest him without question if he doesn't let her call him in sick and they go home right now. She pleads with him not to be difficult right now and listen to her. Jason decides to listen to her and goes home with her. Max reports back to Sonny what happened at the docks with Jason ending up protecting Javier Ruiz instead of letting his men kill him. Sonny shows up at Jason's penthouse and confronts him about what he did on the docks to stop his men from killing Ruiz. Sonny doesn't give Jason a chance to defend himself. He warns Jason to never interfere when his men are in place to kill Ruiz again or he will have his men take him out as well. Sam steps in and tells Sonny off for threatening Jason when he is suppose to be his best friend. Sonny tells Sam to stay out of their business. Jason asks her to leave them alone to talk. Sam reluctantly goes upstairs. Jason has a flash of memory of Sonny from the past. Sonny leaves without really resolving anything with Jason. Later, Jason tells Sam about his memory flash of Sonny and how for an instant he felt a connection to Sonny again. Sam asks him if this means he will go back to work for Sonny. Jason doesn't know what to do. Later, he sneaks out of the penthouse while Sam is sleeping on the couch. Jason explains to Sam why he's so reluctant to return to the life he once led, then is grateful when his lover assures him she'll accept whatever decision he makes. Jason has a flash of memory during a chance encounter with Courtney on the wharf. Jason is surprised to learn how he and his former wife once lost a child. Sam and Jason arrive home to find Ric and guards at their door. Sonny has sent guards to protect Jason, but he doesn't want them. He tells them to go. If he allows them to stay, then he's walking right back into the life he's trying to leave. After they leave, Sam and Jason reminisce and try to determine if Jason can cook or not. They laugh together and Jason gets on the elevator, unaware that Javier Ruiz is standing on the other side of the door. Once Jason is gone, Ruiz confronts Sam. He tells Sam he wants to hire Jason to keep him safe. Jason will either work for Ruiz, or he dies. Jason walks in and sees Ruiz threatening Sam. He throws Ruiz up against the wall and tells him to leave Sam alone. Jason tells Ruiz to leave him and Sam alone. When Ruiz tells him he will kill him if he doesn't work for him, Jason tells him to leave again. Jason explains that if he ever sees him again he will kill him. After Ruiz leaves, Jason tells Sam the only way to get out of the mob lifestyle is to disappear. Sam tells him about her brother and where he is living, and Jason suggests they go live closer to him. Sam gets online and rents a cottage on the beach for the two of them. Sam tells him that she's worried something's going to happen to change their plans, but Jason assures her that there's nothing to keep him here. The phone rings and Sam answers. It's Monica telling them that Emily is in the hospital. Reminding her brother how he could regain his memory at any time, Emily entreats an uneasy Jason not to leave Port Charles. Sam and Jason board a flight for Hawaii. Sam and Jason arrive in Hawaii at their new cottage. Jason thinks he should look for a job there soon but tells her he has enough money right now to lounge around for a while. Sam goes to see her brother Danny at the special school he attends there in Hawaii. She comes back and tells Jason that Danny refused to see her. She explains to Jason that she did come to visit Danny ever month or two but with everything that has happened this year she hasn't visited him for quite awhile and that Danny probably feels abandoned by her. Jason tells her that is probably how everyone back home feels he is doing to them like the Quartermaines and Sonny and his family. Sam tells him that Emily and Sonny have people who care about them back home and that he has only her right now and he shouldn't feel obligated to return to a life he doesn't remember back home. They decide to go to a nearby bar. Sam tells him she has always dreamed about owning a bar on some tropical island. A local man watches them talk at their table and acts like he recognizes Jason. Sam goes to the ladies room and Jason offers to buy the bar from the owner at whatever price the owner wants. Jason takes out a wad of bills to pay him in cash. Sam returns to their table. Jason surprises her by handing her the keys to the bar and informs her she is the new owner. Sam is so excited. The local man that has been watching them calls out to Jason by calling by his last name. Jason tells him that he got his name right. The man comes up to Jason and punches him in the stomach really hard but doesn't give him a reason for it other than mentioning that he knows Jason from some place in New York. Jason doesn't fight back and tells the man that he doesn't remember him at all. After holding his temper despite great provocation, Jason tells Sam how good it felt to simply walk away from a fight for once in his life. Jason brings Danny home to surprise Sam. Sam and Jason take Danny back to the home and then go to their newly acquired bar. When they get there, they discover it has been vandalized. The thug that beat up Jason apparently came back and tore up their bar. As they straighten up, Sam fears they will be forced to return to their former lifestyle. Jason assures her they will settle into this life just fine and not have to return to Port Charles. The thug comes back just as Jason comes back into the main room of the bar. He tells the man to step away from Sam. The thug just came back to apologize and offer money to repay the damages. Jason and Sam don't take the money, but do accept the apology. When he leaves, Jason questions why his apology was so easy. Sam tells him since they're leaving their old life behind them; he needs to take more things at face value. Jason's instincts are correct, though. The thug leaves the bar and calls Ruiz to tell him where Jason and Sam are. Alcazar goes to visit Manny in the hospital and talks to the unconscious man. After he leaves, Manny awakens from his coma. When one of his goons is summoned, Manny tells him he's going after Sonny, Ric, and Jason. Sam tried to persuade Jason to go swimming, but he was distracted. After a water-gun fight, he picked her up and tossed her in the ocean. Basking in their happiness, the pair admitted to one another that they had no regrets about their choice to leave Port Charles. Later, Jason woke up from a nap to find Sam missing. Then, Manny and two gunmen showed up at the bungalow. Manny asked Jason to make a move against him so he could kill Morgan in retaliation. They roughed J up, handcuffed him to a chair and Manny put the gun on his hostage's lap and ordered Jason to shoot. When he refused, the goons beat him, and Sam returned and saw the attack through the window and froze. Jason is still tied up to the chair in his cottage while Manny Ruiz holds a gun on him with his goons hanging around. Sam returns home to find them beating Jason up. She goes in through the back bedroom window and knocks over a lamp, which crashes on the floor. Ruiz and his men hear the noise from the other room and one of his goons goes to investigate. The room is pitch dark inside and Sam hits the goon in the back of the head and knocks him out. She takes his gun. Another man goes to investigate and Sam shoots him as he tries to enter the bedroom. She keeps the gun pointed at Manny Ruiz and orders him to drop the gun he has pointed at Jason. Ruiz orders her to drop her gun or he will kill Jason. Sam lets go of the gun and asks him what he wants from them. Manny surprises her by shooting Jason in the leg. She goes over to Jason and tries to treat his gunshot wound. Manny orders her to come over to him and kiss him or he will shoot Jason in the other leg. Sam follows his orders but insists on taking her shirt off to use to wrap Jason's leg with first. She does it quickly. She notices a screwdriver lying on the floor nearby. Jason sees what she is looking at and motions slightly with his head that she should try to get a hold of it to use as a weapon. She manages to go near her purse and Manny tells her not to go any further. She grabs the screwdriver while he isn't looking and hides behind herself. She goes over to Ruiz and sits partly on his lap as if she is going to comply with his wishes and kiss him. Jason is getting more angry and upset over the thought of her having to give in to Ruiz's demands. Sam takes the screwdriver and points it close to his temple and tells him to drop the gun or she will use it. Ruiz's goons come to and one of them comes up behind Jason and tells her to let go of the screwdriver or he will kill Jason. Sam lets go of the screwdriver and Ruiz tells her to be good now and kiss him like he asked already. Jason tries to get loose from the ties around his hands on the chair. Handcuffed to a chair and bleeding profusely, Jason watches helplessly as Manny begins pawing Sam. Jason wrenches free of his restraints and grabs a gun, then forces Manny to release his grip on Sam. After the police take Manny into custody, Jason tells Sam why he has to go back to his old way of life. As they part, Sam tearfully assures Jason she understands his decision. Jason escapes from the chair he is handcuffed to, knocks out the man with the gun, and aims the gun at Manny. Sam also grabs Manny's gun and points it at him. Before anything can happen, though, the police show up and take Manny into custody. When they leave, Jason tells Sam he must go back to Port Charles. Killing the Ruiz family is the only way to keep the ones he loves safe. Sam admits that she knew this wasn't going to last long, but says she will follow him home tomorrow. She needs time to pack and say goodbye to her brother. Jason believes this is ok since Manny can't get out of jail within 24 hours. He leaves, but tells Sam he loves her before he goes. Just as a thunderstorm starts, Sam gets a phone call from the police telling her that Manny has escaped. She gets a gun and hides behind the couch. A bolt of lightening lights up the window and Manny's face can be seen in the light. Sam goes to the window, unsure if Manny is actually there. As she approaches the window, someone knocks on the door. Javier tells Sonny he knows that Sonny is out of ammo. He laughs at how Sonny made himself bait and then miscalculated Javier. He aims the gun and tells him to start praying. Sonny tells him he should be the one who's praying, and Javier realizes someone is behind him. He puts the gun down and turns around. Jason is pointing a gun at him. Javier tells him he's no longer Sonny's hit man and doesn't take orders from anyone. He has a conscious now and can't commit murder. Javier tries to convince Jason not to shoot him, but Jason makes the decision and kills Javier. Sonny tries to get Jason to leave before the cops come upstairs, but they show up before he can leave. Sonny and Reese are rushed off to the hospital. Mac starts to arrest Jason, but Durant stops him. He sides with Jason and tells Mac that Jason was just defending Sonny since Javier had come after him. Jason asks what the catch is, but Durant just tells him to leave before he changes his mind. Ric is also stunned by this revelation and asks if he let Jason go so that the attorney general wouldn't investigate and find out about Durant's involvement. Durant says he can always press charges later if he needs to. He tells Ric that since Jason's back, Sonny has no room for him. Jason tells Sonny that Manny paid him and Sam a visit and he realizes he has no choice but to kill Manny. The cops showed up and took Manny into custody, though, before Jason had the chance to do anything. He knew something was going on and he had to get back to help Sonny right away. Sonny asks him if he's back for good or if this was just a one-time deal, while Sam listens outside the room. Jason asks for his job back if it's still available, and Sonny says there's no question about it. Sam walks in and asks Sonny if he's okay and hugs Jason. They go outside Sonny's room. Sam tells him about Manny escaping prison. They both realize that Manny is coming after them now. They don't know that he's already in Port Charles, though. He's standing over his brother's chalk outline at the Metro Court. Another mobster tells Manny he shouldn't be there and that his father wants him. Manny says he will go to his father when he takes care of what he came to Port Charles to finish. Ric summons Jason to a meeting in the park with Hector Ruiz. Ric asks Hector to rein in his surviving son and leave Port Charles for good. Afterwards, Jason demands to know why Ric is suddenly pulling rank. Jason complains to Sonny about his brother's reckless behavior. Jason begins experiencing severe headaches once again. Manny murders his father after Hector refuses to avenge Javier's death. Jason starts getting severe headaches again and takes a couple of his pills. Sam catches him taking more pills than what is prescribed by his doctor and tells him he shouldn't take more than two pills a day. Later, Ric goes to see Jason at his penthouse to inform him that Hector Ruiz has been murdered and to warn him that the cops and Durant think he killed him. Jason tells him he didn't kill Hector. Ric leaves. Sam finds a package lying on the floor after a knock on their door. Jason sees it and takes it from her and opens it carefully. There is videotape inside so they play it on their vcr. It is video tape made by Manny who goes in front of the camera and tells Jason that he will find a way to be with Sam and have sex with her and that he will force Jason to watch. This video message makes Jason very angry. Jason wants to go after Manny and kill him but Sam thinks it is a bad idea since Manny wants him to go after him. Jason gets his gun out and tells her he will take care of Manny and be safe. Sam reluctantly lets him go. Jason calls Max to come upstairs to see him. He tells Max to guard Sam at all times in the apartment and orders some of Sonny's men to guard the outside of the penthouse as well. Sam tells Max that she is taking a shower and that he can watch if he wants but that she doesn't think Jason meant for him to watch her go to the bathroom and take a shower. Max lets her go upstairs and tells her to holler if she needs him. Jason shows up to where he thinks the videotape was made and comes in the room with his gun drawn. He finds the room empty except for a camcorder on a tripod and a TV. Meanwhile, Sam goes into the bathroom and takes a shower. She screams for Max after she turns around inside the shower and sees Manny leering at her from the outside of the shower stall. **The End** |
