Jason & Sam #6  May 13 - August 3, 2005 - 8 hr original edit

Carly returns to Sonny's mansion to talk to Jason. She shares her plan with him and asks for his help. Jason decides to set the plan in motion and starts to leave the room but Carly stalls him. She wants to know if he will stay with her and the boys until they are settled in. Jason is noncommittal, assuring her that he or someone else will be with her. Carly is a bit taken aback by his response. Sam tries to explain to Carly that Jason has a life outside of her and the boys. Carly listens to Sam and shrewdly concludes that Sam is pregnant. Sam doesn't immediately deny or confirm the pregnancy and Carly concludes it is because she is still trying to hold onto the dream of being pregnant with Jason's child because she isn't ready yet to find out that she may not be pregnant. Sam is uncomfortable with Carly's observations. Carly tells Sam that she and the boys will always be a part of Jason's life and then warns her not to force Jason into a situation where he has to choose because it's going to tear him apart. Sam counters by suggesting to Carly that she learns to accept that Sam is also a part of Jason's life. Jason comes down from Michael's room to let Carly know that Michael refuses to leave. As they discuss, they discuss the necessity of leaving town, Michael sits on the top step and listens in. He overhears Carly say that Michael is the one who killed AJ.

Jason tells Sam that Michael refuses to leave Port Charles while Carly goes up to Michael's room to talk to him. When she walks in, Carly discovers that the room is empty. Jason, after finding a toy of Michael's, quickly surmises that Michael must have been listening in on Carly and Jason's conversation earlier. Once that realization is made they worry that he might have overheard Carly saying that Michael killed AJ. They call around town looking for Michael but without success. Michael ends up down at the docks where he sees a newspaper with a headline about Sonny being arrested for AJ's murder. He flashes back to his dream of smothering AJ which he now realizes if actually a memory and runs away from the docks.

Michael arrives at the Quartermaine's and Jason arrives shortly after. He quickly takes Michael away into the living room so that they can speak privately. Michael tells Jason that he is the one who killed AJ. At Jason's prompt, Michael admits that he overheard Carly and Reese talking about AJ needing to be stopped. Knowing that AJ was responsible for kidnapping Morgan and Kristina and fearing he still posed a threat to them, Michael went to talk to AJ. When he entered the room, AJ tried talking to him but Michael didn't want to hear any more of his lies so he picked up a pillow and put it over his face. When he pulled the pillow away, AJ was no longer breathing. Michael then dropped the pillow and hid until he could figure things out. That is when Carly had entered the room. He tells Jason that Carly did not kill AJ. Tearfully he throws his arms around Jason's neck and asks Jason if he's now bad. Jason tries to explain that killing is bad but that Michael isn't. He reminds him of a time when Michael had sprained his wrist. At the time Michael was unable to grab or hold anything because his wrist was not working normally. According to Jason, something similar happened to Michael's mind the night that AJ died. Michael's mind had not been working "normally" and as a result of all the lies and manipulations that AJ had inflicted on Michael he had smothered AJ. Michael is still troubled about Sonny being sent to jail for something that he did not do. He begs Jason to take him to the police station. Jason arrives at the police station with Michael. Carly tries to immediately rush him out of the station before Ric can talk to him. Jason stops her. He insists to her to allow Michael to see Sonny. Reluctantly, Carly stops struggling with Jason and permits Michael to go into the interrogation room.

Jason, Carly and Michael return to Sonny's compound. Michael makes it clear that he isn't going to leave town willingly and he would like to confess to the police so Sonny doesn't go to jail. Sam follows Michael when he runs upstairs to his room, leaving Carly and Jason to talk. Carly is speechless when Jason suggests that Michael be permitted to go to the police to confess. Carly feels Jason is supporting Reese instead of her. She asks Jason to trust her to know what's best for her son, not Reese. Jason explains that things are different now that Michael remembers smothering AJ but Carly refuses to change her mind. She is determined to leave town with Michael and Morgan.

Upstairs, Sam talks to Michael. She is able to convince him to leave town for Sonny's sake. Michael goes downstairs to tell Carly about his change of heart and the plans are set into motion. Jason and Sam take a few minutes to talk privately. Jason promises Sam that if he does stay to help Carly settle in it will only be for a day or two. Sam tells him about the pregnancy test that she took earlier that day. Unfortunately she did something wrong because it did not reveal whether she is pregnant or not. She needs to get another home pregnancy test. Mac walks in and informs Carly that she's been subpoenaed to appear in court when Sonny is tried for AJ's murder. He orders her to turn over her passport, as she will not be permitted to leave the country until she has testified.

Jason and Sam meet at Kelly's, Jason informs Sam that Carly will have to testify. Later, Sam lets Jason know that her pregnancy test proved to be negative. Jason assures Sam that, once Dr. Meadows gives Sam a go-ahead, they will begin planning a family. Jason and Sam are interrupted when Reese arrives and reports that Jason needs to speak to Carly so that Carly does not end up blowing Sonny's case. After Jason leaves, Sam tries to explain Jason and Carly's relationship to an inquisitive Reese. Jason tries to convince Carly that she must not boil over in court if Carly wants to help Sonny, However Carly ignores all of Jason's cautions and continues to insist that Jason should not trust Reese's advice, because Reese's only objective is to land in bed with Sonny. As Jason and Carly argue, Ric arrives. Just as Ric begins to assure Jason and Carly that they are all on the same side, Durant barges in and shocks everyone when John announces that the Federal Prosecutor has been named to the prosecution team handling Sonny's case. Carly is angry when her father declares that John plans to put Sonny in prison which is where the mob boss belongs! John pleads with his daughter to just be happy that Carly has been given an opportunity to finally get free of her career criminal husband. Jason finally intervenes in the argument and orders Ric and John to leave.

Sam disagrees with Carly about her approach to taking the stand. Sam thinks that she is going to hurt Sonny's case if she gets on the stand and tells everyone how much she hated A.J. and wanted him dead. Carly thinks that if she isn't honest about how she felt about A.J. the jury won't believe her. Carly is wearing a sleeveless black dress and high heels. Sam thinks the outfit will distract the jury from taking her testimony seriously. Jason agrees with Sam that Carly should let Sam help her pick out another outfit to wear. When Carly arrives at the courtroom, Alexis purposely tries to get Carly to lose her temper in public by accusing her of being a bad mother by letting her children be exposed to danger by being near Sonny. Jason restrains Carly to keep her from taking a swing at Alexis. The trial begins.  Durant stands up and keeps Ric from starting the prosecution's case. Durant calls Carly to the stand. He starts to grandstand to the jury, which Justus objects to several times. The judge sustains the objection and asks Durant to ask Carly questions and wait for her to answer. Durant tells the judge that he would like to treat Carly like a hostile witness. He asks her about how she felt about A.J. and if Sonny was angry with A.J. enough to kill him. Carly almost loses her temper but holds back and sits down and calmly tells the court that A.J. was a disturbed man who wanted revenge on Sonny and even married Courtney to get back at him. Durant asks her why Sonny would suddenly confess to murder. She tells him that he did it to protect her when the evidence started to point to her as the prime suspect. Durant focuses on the evidence that the police got on her and he asks her if she killed A.J. after all. Michael runs into the courtroom and tells everyone that his parents didn't kill A.J. Durant asks the judge if he could put Michael on the witness stand since they were originally going to subpoena him to testify but since he seemed so traumatized then they changed their minds but now Michael appears to be better. The judge reluctantly allows him to put Michael on the stand. Carly is asked to step down. Carly gets upset and tells Michael that everything is going to be okay. Michael gets on the stand. Sonny shakes his head in disapproval but can't stop it from happening.

Everyone objects when John Durant asks Michael if he saw anyone kill AJ. The judge calls order to the court and rules that Michael has to answer the question. Michael tells Durant that he did not see anyone kill AJ. Pandemonium breaks out again when John asks Michael another question relating to AJ's murder. During the chaos, Carly races to the witness box and hustles Michael off. She doesn't get very far before John Durant brings it to the judge's attention. Carly lets everyone know that she doesn't care if they arrest her, she will not allow her son to testify. She intends to take him home. The judge admonishes her, finding her behavior unacceptable in her courtroom. Ric keeps the situation from deteriorating by informing the judge that the prosecution is finished questioning Michael. The judge permits Carly to leave the courtroom with Michael and calls for a brief recess.

When the trial resumes, Ric calls his next witness, Steven Webber who discusses the forensic findings. He is followed by a nurse who says she overheard Sonny threatening AJ that he will never get near Michael again, Alan who testifies about Sonny hanging AJ on a meat hook and forcing him to sign over his rights to Michael, Elizabeth Webber who testifies to giving AJ a sedative after he was restrained to protect his spinal injuries and who was helpless to defend himself when he was smothered, and finally Dr. O'Donnell, Michael's pediatrician who saw that Michael was alone and asleep in his bed when he checked on him. Finally, Mac takes the stand and tells the jury that Sonny came into the police station to confess to the murder. Justus immediately objects since the confession has been recanted. The judge instructs the jury to disregard the comments about his confession but Sonny realizes that it's too late. He tells Justus that he feels everyone on the jury wants to see him convicted. For the defense, Reese, Sam and Jason testify but Justus is reluctant but feels he has no other alternative but to put Sonny on the stand. Sonny reassures Justus that he can handle anything that Durant fires at him. Justus isn't so certain.

On the stand, Sonny is sympathetic as he talks about what he went through. Durant pulls out all stops as he goes after Sonny. First he asks him about the confession. Sonny doesn't deny confessing to AJ's murder. He claims he did so in order to protect his son from testifying about something that ultimately was only a dream. Durant then asks Sonny if he has ever killed anyone? Sonny admits that he killed a man named Joe Scully but that it was ruled self defense. The door opened, John Durant then questions Sonny about other men who crossed his path and turned up dead or missing. Sonny doesn't admit to anything but things don't look well. During closing arguments, Durant gives a convincing speech about why Sonny should be convicted of murder, painting him as a ruthless, cold-blooded gangster and murderer. After Durant concludes, Ric stands and asks the court to address the jury himself. The judge agrees. Ric tells the jury that he's Sonny's half brother and that John Durant was brought on to ensure there was no conflict of interest. Ric goes on to tell them that much of what they heard about Sonny was true but that he did not kill AJ. Everyone is shocked. Sonny tries to stop Ric from proceeding with his closing speech but Ric tells him that the truth must come out.

Worried that Ric is about to reveal Michael's role in AJ's death, Sonny desperately tries to stop Ric from addressing the jury. Ric is determined. He shocks everyone when he tells the jury that the state has not met its burden to prove Sonny is guilty of murdering AJ and therefore he should not be found guilty. After a brief round of objections on John Durant's part, Ric is given the opportunity to finish addressing the jury. Ric explains that Sonny was forced to confess in order to protect Michael who was in the throes of posttraumatic stress after spending an extended period of time with his kidnappers. Ric goes on to tell the jury that John Durant was so determined to put Sonny away that he used Michael's dreams to railroad Carly for a murder she did not commit and threatened to put Michael on the stand to testify against his mother. Seeing no other alternative, Sonny confessed. Ric concludes, that given the lack of any real evidence, the jury doesn't have any choice but to come back with a not guilty verdict. After the judge instructs the jury and sends them off to deliberate she calls a recess.

All parties return to the courtroom and the verdict is read. Sonny is found not guilty. Jason and Sam join Sonny and Carly at home and Michael insists on making plans to celebrate Sonny's victory. When Sonny and Reese disappear together, Carly sends Michael off with Jason and Sam, promising to find Sonny and joining them in a short while. At Kelly's, Jason joins Michael at a table for a private chat. He cautions Michael that he should only discuss what happened to AJ with his parents and Jason. Michael agrees and then notes that neither of his parents has joined them yet. He is hopeful that it's a sign that Carly and Sonny may be reconciling. Jason is quick to explain to Michael that while his parents love each other they have no intention of reuniting.

Sam and Jason enjoy some time alone at home. As they kiss, Carly walks into the penthouse demanding Jason's attention. Sam walks over to the front door and opens it before ordering Carly to leave. When Carly turns to Jason for support, he remains silent. Carly complains about finding Sonny in bed with Reese, an exasperated Samantha blasts Carly for monopolizing Jason's time. Jason promises Carly that he will call her tomorrow. After Carly leaves, Sam apologizes to Jason, but Jason reassures Sam that she was right to draw the line with Carly. However, Jason warns that whenever Carly is hurt Carly will go flying off the handle and someone will end up getting hurt. In the hallway outside, Carly calls Rachel and makes an appointment to meet with Rachel. Jason comes outside and warns Carly not to get some new scheme in the works to try to get Sonny back, but Carly insists that she does not have any new scheme in the works, and flounces away.  Jason returns to his apartment and warns Sam that Carly's mood swings could cause a great deal of harm to someone. Jason and Sam discuss their plans for a family, then hit the sheets. They are interrupted by a call from Michael, who explains that he is alone with only Max and Leticia and needs to talk. Jason leaves a disappointed Sam behind and immediately rushes to Sonny's, where Jason discovers that Michael is worried that the boy is now destined to suffer throughout eternity for killing his father. Jason reassures Michael that God understands all the circumstances and forgives Michael for AJ's death. Then Jason advises the little boy to learn how to forgive himself.

When Sonny returns, Jason tells him about Michael's nightmare. However, when Jason suggests that Michael needs some psychological counseling and therapy, Sonny coldly vetoes the idea. Then Sonny explains why he felt he needed to go after Reese and persuade the F.B.I. agent to stay in Port Charles. Just as Sonny explains that he simply cannot get involved in the same destructive merry-go-round with Carly again, Carly arrives and overhears Sonny's declaration!

Jason tells Sam that he wants to talk to a psychiatrist to see if he can get Michael into therapy. Sam questions why Sonny and Carly haven't already done it themselves. Jason tells her that they don't want him to go into therapy. Sam thinks that Jason makes Michael more of a priority than his own parents do and that just proves to her that he will make an excellent father. Sam finds Jason in the hallway at the hospital and seems upset and asks him to leave right now so they can talk. She goes home with him and tells him she is upset because Dr. Meadows thinks she should run more tests on Sam before giving the okay for her to try and get pregnant. Sam doesn't think she should have to wait for some tests to give her permission to get pregnant when it should be about her and Jason's love for each other and wanting to have a baby together.

Carly calls Jason at home and tells him she is in trouble and needs his help. She asks him to meet her at the hotel in room 614, claiming that she did something awful and desperately needs his help. Once she's off the phone with Jason and Courtney leaves the room, Carly starts scattering Courtney's clothes around the room as well as some rose petals in an attempt to make it look like a lover's tryst had taken place there. Rachel meanwhile tells Jax that she suspects Courtney and Jason are having an affair (Carly's plan is to attempt to breakup Jax & Courtney, hoping Jason and Courtney will reunite). Jason walks in and asks her what she is doing. Carly is momentarily at a loss for words but then quickly comes up with the lie that she's attempting to lure Sonny there in the hopes of seducing him. When she looks over at the phone and notes the blinking red light she realizes that Jax is on his way to the room. She starts yelling "YES! YES! YES!" and making all kinds of noise so that Jax, who is by now on the other side of the door, overhears her and mistakenly believes that he is overhearing Courtney and Jason making love. Her plan is successful. Jax is visibly shaken by what he overhears but does not go into the room. Just then Courtney walks up from behind and asks him what he is doing in the hall. He quickly realizes that he's been set up.

Jason returns home to a very happy Sam. They enjoy a quiet evening at home, dancing and sharing a romantic dinner. As they cuddle on the sofa, they discuss what their future baby may be like and how it will be conceived in love. As they start to go upstairs, the phone rings. Dr. Meadows is calling to talk to Sam about her test results. Sam is upset when she hangs up. She tells Jason that Dr. Meadows has advised her to wait a year before trying to get pregnant or she may put herself and her baby at risk.

Sam is distraught over the news that she has to wait a year to get pregnant. She insists that she feels better than ever and thinks that Dr. Meadows is wrong with her diagnosis. Sam tells Jason that she doesn't want to wait a year to have a baby and doesn't care about the risks. Jason doesn't agree. He does care about the risks and feels that they should wait. As he is comforting Sam on the sofa, Carly barges into the penthouse. Sam is furious and orders her out. Carly ignores Sam as she tells Jason that it is urgent she speaks with him. Disgusted at Carly's lack of respect for their privacy, Sam storms out of the penthouse. Carly doesn't seem the least bit bothered by Sam's exit. She makes it clear to Jason that she would not appreciate him following Sam and is thrilled when he tells her that he has no intention of chasing after Sam. Her satisfaction is short lived. Jason is furious with Carly. He tells her that she is out of control and he's getting tired of it. Things go from bad to worse as Carly gives Jason the details about her failed plans to break up Courtney and Jax, insisting that she did it for Jason and Courtney whom she feels belong together. Carly goes on to beg Jason to leave Sam, telling him that he is nothing but a back up after Sonny dumped her. Jason warns Carly to not make him chose between her and Sam because she will not like the answer that he gives. Carly is shocked and leaves the penthouse in a huff.

Carly walks into Jakes to find Sam sitting at the bar and drinking. Carly joins her. She doesn't bother exchanging pleasantries before she tells Sam the story of how she met Jason in Jakes and ended up in bed with him that very same night. Sam tries to ignore her but Carly is persistent. She offers Sam $5,000,000.00 to leave town. Sam walks away and sits at a nearby table. Carly follows her and starts talking about Robin and how in the end she went to Paris and Jason didn't follow her. Getting little reaction from Sam, Carly switches tactics and threatens to run her "skanky butt out of town." Sam finally reacts. She punches Carly in the face, knocking her backwards in her chair. Carly is quick to recover and proceeds to attack Sam. As the women trade blows Coleman and patron are forced to pull the women apart. After Carly leaves, Coleman calls Sonny to warn him that Carly is on a rampage.

Jason visits Sonny. He warns Sonny that Carly is out of control and tells him what happened earlier in the evening. Sonny wants nothing to do with Carly's problems or her antics much to Jason's frustration. He does admit though that Carly could have gotten the wrong message over recent weeks. Just then Sonny receives a phone call from Coleman with disturbing news. Jason arrives at Jakes a short while later to find Sam sitting at a table. She is fed up with Carly and realizes that Carly's hatred for her runs deep. She feels that she could never make Jason chose between herself and Carly and tells Jason that she loves him enough to walk away. Jason asks her if she loves him enough to stay. Sonny tracks Carly down to her apartment. When he tries to talk to her about her recent behavior Carly admits that she tried to pay Sam off with $5,000,000.00 if she would leave town. Sonny tells Carly that it isn't about Sam. It's about Reese. Carly doesn't want to get rid of Jason's girlfriend, she wants to get rid of Sonny's girlfriend.

When Courtney and Samantha run into each other at the hospital, Sam is surprised when Jax arrives and announces that Courtney will be seeing Dr. Meadows. At Sonny's, when Michael guesses that Jason plans to get Michael in to see a psychiatrist, Jason reassures Michael that the doctor will help Michael deal with his nightmares. Sam speaks to Dr. Winters and learns that if Dr. Winters learned of a major crime during therapy, even with a child, Dr. Winters would be duty-bound to report the crime to the proper authorities. Then Dr. Winters warns Sam that if the crime they are speaking about is the murder of AJ Quartermaine, a child witnessing such a crime would be in immediate need of serious therapy. After Sam returns to Sonny's and reports her news to Jason, Jason decides that they just need to find a psychiatrist who will keep his mouth shut for a price. As Jason considers the possibility that perhaps, all Michael needs is to be left alone to heal on his own, Michael wakes up with another terrifying nightmare and Jason rushes to be with Michael. Michael confides to Jason and Sam that he keeps seeing A.J. when he closes his eyes and feels really bad that A.J. is dead and that A.J.'s death was Michael's fault. After Michael goes back to bed, Jason and Sam decide that Jason should contact Courtney, before her wedding to Jax, to see if Courtney's foundation would be able to help them locate a psychiatrist who would stay mum about Michael's part in A.J.'s death.

Jason meets with Sam at the park. Sam asks him it is weird for him being there at the park watching them get ready for Courtney's wedding to Jax. Jason tells her he is fine with it and that he loves her now. He tells her he has to do a few things right now and will see her later. Jason shows up at Courtney's hotel room. He sees Carly there and asks her what she is up to now. Carly tells him that she promised to behave and is going to be her maid of honor. Jason is pleased. Jason tells Courtney that he is happy for her if Jax makes her happy and is good to her. Courtney hugs him and thanks him for his support. However, Jane (Jax's mother) sees them embracing through the partially opened door and gets the wrong idea. She leaves without seeing her. Jason tells Courtney that he really came by to ask her for a favor. He wants Michael to see a therapist but he wants the therapist to be someone who will honor confidentiality where Michael is concerned and hoped she knew someone through her foundation that could help Michael. Courtney tells him she will get in touch with a few people and get back to him later.

Jason finds Jax in the hotel bar on his way out. He notices that Jax is drinking heavily and confronts him. Jax tells him it is his hotel and he can get drunk if he wants to. Jason is confused and asks him why he would get drunk right before his wedding. Jax tells him they will be no wedding because Courtney still loves Jason. Jason tells him that is ridiculous. Jax tries to brush Jason off. Jason grabs Jax by the arm and tells him that he is going to marry Courtney even if he has to drag him down the aisle. Jax is determined to not go through with the wedding. He was convinced that Courtney was not over Jason. Jason tells Jax that he was only in Courtney's room to discuss Michael and for no other reason. He is finally able to convince Jax to go through with the wedding when he sees Jax's wedding vows and reads them. After he asks Jax if what he said in his vows was true, Jax realizes that he can't walk away from Courtney. He leaves for the park, asking Jason to keep their talk between themselves.

A worried Courtney sees Jax arrive at the other end of the park. She is thrilled beyond measure. She turns to a rather surprised Carly and tells her "That's the way love works. You show up for the one you love". Carly smiles when she sees Jason standing nearby (once he sees that Jax has shown up, Jason leaves. So I did not include Jax & Courtney's wedding on this edit but do have all of these episodes available separately).

Sam is at the hospital looking for Dr. Thomas's office. She sees Alan and approaches him. When he notices the bruise on her face, he's alarmed thinking that Jason hit her. Sam is quick to reassure him that Jason never laid a hand on her. She asks him where she can find Dr. Thomas's office. Knowing Dr. Thomas is a child psychologist, Alan realizes that the inquiry is for Michael's sake. He's relieved that Michael will get the help that he desperately needs and tells Sam where she can find Dr. Thomas. When she walks into his office, Dr. Thomas is resting on his sofa. He apologizes and then asks Sam how he can help her. Sam asks him a series of questions in the hopes of determining whether Dr. Thomas can keep any information he may learn from Michael confidential instead of reporting it to the police. Dr. Thomas assures her that he considers doctor/patient confidentiality sacred. Just then he's interrupted by a call. As Sam, listens it becomes clear that Dr. Thomas is refusing to divulge something he heard in a session to the authorities. After he finishes up the call, Jason walks in. It's obvious that Jason knows Dr. Thomas and isn't very fond of him. He quickly ushers Sam out of the office and tells Dr. Thomas that they would be in touch with him.

At the penthouse, Jason confides to Sam that Dr. Thomas was the doctor that Kevin Collins consulted with after the accident that left Jason brain damaged. He initially seems reluctant to send Michael to Dr. Thomas but eventually changes his mind. Sam calls Dr. Thomas and sets up an appointment. Jason isn't certain how convincing he will be about Michael seeing a specialist given his own feelings about therapists and in particular Dr. Thomas. His discusses things with Sam and then decides to go talk to Sonny. Sam pays Emily a visit. During the visit, Sam tells Emily about her recent encounters with Carly. Emily is supportive. She warns Sam that Carly has already chased off two good women in Jason's life and to not let Carly do the same to her.

Jason tracks Sonny down at Reese's. Jason insists on talking to Sonny privately. Sonny steps out into the hallway where Jason outlines his concerns for Michael and brings up his need for therapy. Sonny agrees to have Jason discuss it further when Carly gets back from marrying Alcazar. Jason is shocked to learn of Carly's wedding plans. He questions why Sonny isn't taking steps to prevent the wedding. Sonny points out that he has no reason to since Lorenzo has decided to retire and go legitimate. He is no longer a threat to Sonny. Jason isn't pleased. He watches Sonny return to Reese's room.

Jason returns home and tells Sam all the latest developments. Michael overhears Jason discuss Carly's plans to marry Alcazar. Michael feels that Lorenzo is a bad man and he hates him. He begs Jason to stop Carly. Jason explains to him why he can't stop Carly and promises him that he will make sure that everything will be ok for Michael.

Jason and Sam talk to Michael about his parents' divorce. Jason tries to help Michael understand that they don't have any plans to reconcile. Michael refuses to accept what Jason is saying. He insists that Carly will not marry Lorenzo. After he runs from the room, Jason and Sam discuss what is going on. Sam feels that Michael should not be pressured into accepting the divorce at this time given everything he has been through while Jason feels he should be made to deal with the reality of the situation. Just then Carly walks in, intending to take Michael and Morgan with her on her wedding trip. Jason flatly refuses to let her leave with the boys. He explains to her that Michael is much too upset to accept a marriage between Carly and Lorenzo. Carly counters, reminding Jason that he doesn't have the right to tell her what to do with her sons and assuring him that Lorenzo is a good person who would do everything possible to help Michael. Michael then runs into the room, sweeping his toys off a table and shouting that Carly cannot marry Alcazar. Sonny walks in. Michael demands that Sonny stop Carly from going through with her marriage. Much to Michael's dismay, Sonny tries to explain that he can't stop Carly from marrying anyone. Michael runs out of the room with Jason and Sam following close behind.

Jason and Sam are talking to Michael when Sonny and Carly join them. When Jason mentions to Michael, the possibility of seeing a doctor, Sonny stops him and says they will discuss it the following day. Later, Sonny returns to the living room where Jason is waiting. Jason insists that Michael is in pain and desperately needs a therapist. Sam stops by to see Reese and tell her what happened with Michael. Reese reads between the lines and asks Sam if she is asking her to stop seeing Sonny for Michael's sake. Sam tells her that seeing his parents involved with other people is not helping Michael at the moment and asks Reese to please do what's best for Michael.

Sam visits Dr. Thomas again and quizzes the psychiatrist about his stand on patient confidentiality. Even as Dr. Thomas reassures Sam that doctor/patient confidentiality is a sacred trust to him, Alan eavesdrops on their conversation from a nearby room. Later, when Jason arrives with Michael, Michael agrees to meet with Dr. Thomas alone in the doctor's office. Outside the office, Jason again admits to Sam that he has serious misgivings about the kind of treatment that Michael might receive from Dr. Thomas. At that moment, Alan 'happens' by and 'learning' that Michael is seeing a therapist, wishes them all well in their endeavor Inside Dr. Thomas's office, Michael becomes angry as soon as Dr. Thomas brings up A.J.'s name. Then Michael runs out into the hallway and begs Jason not to make Michael return to therapy. Emily notices how upset Michael has become and tries to distract the boy by offering a walk in the park.

When Jason learns that Carly plans to go ahead with her wedding to Lorenzo, Jason tries to convince Carly that she is doing the wrong thing but Carly refuses to listen to Jason. In the park, after speaking about her own therapy, Emily manages to convince Michael to give therapy another try. When Jason and Sam join them, they are all surprised by Michael's change of heart. Alan meets with Dr. Thomas and the two men discuss their plan to steer Michael back into the Quartermaine family fold. Dr. Thomas assures Alan that they are well on the road to success, since Dr. Thomas believes that Michael's mother is on the verge of rushing into marriage with a man whom her son hates!

Sam and Jason bring Michael to his next therapy session with Dr. Thomas at GH. Emily is there and persuades him to give Dr. Thomas another chance and offers to walk with him to his office. Sam tells Jason that he needs to stop projecting his feelings toward the shrink onto Michael since Michael can read his face very well and pick up on his apprehension. Jason agrees not to say anything to Michael to make him more tense. Emily returns with Michael, who is annoyed that Dr. Thomas couldn't see him for his appointment. Emily tells Sam and Jason that Dr. Thomas had an emergency patient and wanted to postpone the appointment until later that evening and asked to speak to Jason and Sam right now. Emily offers to sit with Michael until they get back. Emily goes to get some candy bars for them and asks if Michael will be o.k. by himself in the waiting room. Michael tells her he will be fine. While he is looking at his comic book, a young girl named Jody shows up and tells him that she is seeing Dr. Thomas too because her mother told her she did bad things and needed help. Michael tells her he does bad things sometimes too and that is why he is seeing Dr. Thomas too. The little girl leaves.

Jason and Sam bring Michael home to find Sonny just getting home. Sonny isn't too pleased that Jason took Michael to see Dr. Thomas because he is afraid Michael will confess to killing A.J. and they can't trust the shrink to not report it to the cops. Jason tells him that he needs to see someone for treatment, especially with what is going on right now with Sonny in a relationship with Reese and with Carly engaged to Alcazar. Sonny feels that Jason is insinuating that he is not being a good father to Michael. Sonny tells them that Reese doesn't want him anymore and is moving away. Sam feels bad and tells him that Reese didn't want to leave but that she went to visit her and asked her to back off from her relationship with Sonny because of Michael. Sonny decides to go find Reese because she cares about him and Michael. Sam asks Jason if he blames her for how she interfered with Reese and Sonny. He tells her he doesn't blame her at all. Sam tells Jason that Michael needs to stay in therapy and that she is afraid if he doesn't get the help he needs he will get worse and may end up taking a shotgun when he is older and shooting a bunch of innocent people. Jason worries that the therapy will make Michael worse rather than better. Michael overhears their conversation and runs back into his room. He sits on his bed and is surprised when the little girl, Jody climbs through his window into his room to see him.

Jodie sneaks into Michael's room and warns him about Dr. Thomas. When Michael questions how she managed to sneak undetected into the compound, Jodie says she found a hole in the back fence. Michael notes that he is the only one who knew about it. Jodie then advises him that if he really wants to get out of therapy then he should cry and throw a fit, curling up into a ball and tell everyone that he doesn't want to go to counseling. Just then they hear Jason approach. Jodie quickly leaves through the window. Michael leaves with Jason to go to his session with Dr. Thomas.

When Michael arrives at the hospital with Jason and Sam, he is quiet as he goes into his session with Dr. Thomas. While Michael is talking to Dr. Thomas, Sam thanks Emily for encouraging and helping Michael to go to therapy. Moments later, Michael runs out and throws himself into Emily's arms, crying and begging not to be forced to return to the session. Sonny walks up just then. He sees Michael's upset and asks what is going on. Michael tells him that he doesn't ever want to have to return to therapy. Sonny reassures him that he won't. When Ric joins the group, after being concerned over Michael's upset when he sees him, Sonny tells Ric about Reese's accident and asks him to sit with her while he takes Michael home. Ric agrees to Sonny's request. Sonny then turns to Jason and tells him that he doesn't want to ever hear another word about Michael going to therapy.

Dr. Thomas talks to Sam and Jason awhile later. He tells them that Michael had faked his outburst to get out of therapy. Dr. Thomas goes on to tell them that Michael is obviously hiding something that he doesn't want to talk about and if they truly cared for Michael they will tell him what the secret is. Jason refuses to divulge anything to Dr. Thomas. He tells the doctor that it is no longer his problem as it's likely that Michael will not be returning for any more sessions. Dr. Thomas tells them that Michael needs help and then leaves. Sam suggests to Jason that Dr. Thomas might have been right about Michael faking his outburst. That it seems Michael is picking up Jason's resistance to therapy and rejecting it for that reason. She goes on to propose that they tell Dr. Thomas what Michael is hiding but Jason flatly refuses. Michael walks into his room to find Jodie waiting for him. She asks him if he took her advice and Michael admits that he did. When they hear someone coming, Jodie slips out of the room before anyone sees her.

Jason and Sam return to talk to Sonny about sending Michael back to therapy. He tells him that he won't force Michael but Emily is upstairs talking to him and if she can convince him then Sonny won't object. Just then Michael comes running downstairs to tell Sonny something. Carly and Lorenzo walk in, having just returned from eloping. Michael is not happy with Carly's decision to marry Lorenzo and tells her that he won't love Lorenzo or does he plans to live with them. He is going to live with Sonny, Carly is not pleased. Emily appears at the top of the stairs just then. She tells them that Morgan is resting and offers to take Michael to his room. Before Michael joins Emily, Carly stops him to tell him that she loves him. Michael tells Carly that he loves her too then goes up to his room with Emily. Carly then turns to Jason expecting support from him. She's surprised when Jason tells her that he has nothing to say to her except that he thinks she's made a mistake marrying Lorenzo. Carly is angry and dismisses Jason by telling him that she needs to speak to Sonny about a private matter regarding her son. Sonny calls her on her spiteful behavior toward Jason after he leaves the room.

Meanwhile, Emily is talking to Michael upstairs and is encouraging him to return to therapy. She makes a deal with him that she will go to her therapy if he will go to his. Jason happens to step in the room just as Michael agrees to go to therapy and he mouths "Thank you" to Emily. Jason praises Michael for how he handled the news that Carly married Alcazar, that he didn't throw a fit. Michael says that he didn't want to scare Morgan. Emily tells Sonny about being raped, and how facing it through therapy is helping her. She then tells him that Michael has agreed to return. Sonny agrees to allow Michael to return. Sonny tells Jason that Carly chose the worst time to marry Lorenzo and that she should be the one on what he terms as "Michael Duty", not Emily. Sonny also tells Jason that he intends to get on with his life as Carly has done.

Cute scene as Jason returns home to find Sam with a facial mask on. She jumps when she sees him, not expecting to see him home in the middle of Sonny and Carly's huge crisis. She is horrified and tries to run out of the room so Jason won't see her looking like a horrible monster. He stops her from leaving the room, grabs her and begins kissing her. Later, they lay snuggled up on the couch (she has since removed her facial mask), they talk about the Carly and Alcazar situation. Sam wants to know if Jason feels like Carly has betrayed him. He says that Carly needs someone to put her first and now Jason is committed to building a life with Sam and that Sam is first in his life, before Carly and before anyone else.

Dr. Thomas asks to have a word with Jason and Sam after Michael's session. Michael steps away while Dr. Thomas talks to them. He tells Jason that after the session, he has concerns over Michael's current living arrangements. He feels that Michael is uncomfortable with Sonny's girlfriend living with them and equally uncomfortable with Carly's new marital status. He suggests that Michael could use a change for the time being. Just then Alan joins them claiming to have overheard the exchange. He offers to have Michael come live with Monica and him at the Quartermaine mansion. Jason flatly refuses to consider the idea and makes it clear to Alan that Michael will not be living at the Quartermaines.

Michael finds Jodie at the hospital. They decide to take off and end up at the Pizza Shack where Michael tells Jodie about what has been going on. When they hear a car pull up to the closed Pizza Shack, they panic and run. Michael comes out of hiding when Jason calls out to him. They ask him who he was with? Michael doesn't tell them, instead he asks Jason how he found him there. Jason smiles and tells him that he knew Michael was hungry for pizza and that he also knows that the Pizza Shack is his favorite place to eat. They decide to get pizza from another place since the Pizza Shack is closed but bring it back to the Pizza Shack to eat. Afterwards, Jason and Sam take Michael home.

When Jason and Sam arrive with Michael, Sonny tells Jason that he needs to speak to him. Sam is quick to take Michael upstairs while Reese goes to the kitchen for some coffee. Alone, Sonny fills Jason in on what has been going between Evan and Reese. Jason is reluctant to simply make sure Evan leaves town. He feels, given the threat to Sonny's family that Evan should be taken care of in a more permanent manner. While Sonny and Jason discuss how to deal with Evan, Reese calls Evan to arrange a meeting to give him the $1,000,000.00. Evan disconnects the call and leaves the Pizza Shack. Later, Reese assures Sonny that Evan will be waiting for her at the Pizza Shack as arranged. Sonny and Jason leave to meet up with Evan. When they arrive there, they quickly realize that Reese lied.

As Sam pulls back the covers of Michael's bed, he sees Jodie standing outside of his room. He tries to distract Sam, so she doesn't see Jodie, by asking her what the pile of wood is doing by the back fence. She explains that Michael has been seen using that section to sneak out so Max has been ordered to fix the hole. Michael is upset. At Sam's reassurance that he can tell her anything, he confides to her about Jodie. Emily seeks some advice from Sam. Sam promises that whatever Emily tells her will remain confidential. Emily appreciates the gesture and opens up to Sam about her problems with Nik. Sam feels that sex has become a pink elephant to Emily and Nik. Both are trying to avoid it when they shouldn't be. Sam's advice to Emily is to end the stalemate and go to Nik. They should be making love not avoiding it.

Reese arrives to her meeting with Evan with her gun drawn. She finds Evan shot to death on the ground, his gun still in his hand. Just then, someone comes up behind Reese, covers her mouth and drags her away, kicking and struggling to get free. Jason is not happy to have left the scene of Evan's shooting. He is convinced that there wouldn't have been any repercussions for either him or Sonny had they stayed. Sonny disagrees. Jason is certain that Ric wanted them gone so that they wouldn't be privy to what he told the police. Sonny shocks Jason when he tells him that he knows Reese is capable of lying but not Ric. Jason asks Sonny when he started trusting Ric. Sonny replies "Say what you want, but Ric came through for me when he acquitted me of AJ's murder. He lost his marriage and his career." Jason isn't impressed. He doesn't think that proves anything. He reminds Sonny of all the things that Ric has done since coming to town including kidnapping and holding a pregnant Carly in a panic room, chained to a wall. Sonny admits that he won't ever forget what Ric did but he now realizes that Ric had a breakdown. He was a grieving father and an envious brother who snapped. Sonny questions how he can hold that against his own brother, when Sonny himself has suffered breakdowns more than once. Jason drops the matter of Ric and decides to focus in on Reese, asking Sonny how he can trust her after all the lies she's told. Just then Reese walks in. Jason finds Ric and begins to question him about the shooting.

Jason steps off the elevator and rushes over to find out what's going on. Jason says that Michael knows where he wants to live, so they should leave him alone. Alan thinks that Jason is the last person who should have an opinion, considering he abandoned his family. Jason finds Sam and immediately tells her about Alan trying to get custody of Michael. Sam convinces Jason not to let Alan get to her. She thinks that Durant can step in and call in some favors, but Jason says that's one more reason why Durant needs to be stopped. Jason talks to Michael about his nightmares, and then asks him where he wants to live. Michael wants to know why Jason is asking. Jason tells him about Alan trying to get custody, but Michael doesn't want to live with the Quartermaines. Michael thinks that Alan will be mad at him when he finds out he killed AJ. Jason tells him that no one ever needs to know that Michael killed AJ, and if he wants to live with his dad then Jason will make sure that's where he lives. Sonny overhears Jason making the promise to Michael.

As Emily starts to leave, Sam stops her and thanks her for everything she is doing for Michael. Emily confesses that she and Nikolas slept together and it wasn't as bad as she feared it would be. Sam asks how enjoyable the experience was for them. Emily thought it was good for Nikolas, but for her it was all about getting through it. Sam asks her if she faked it, and Emily confesses that she did. Both women agree that men don't need to know these details. As Emily starts to leave, Sam asks her if she thinks Jason has been acting strangely. Emily doesn't think so, but tells her sometimes his job does this to him.

Jason is brought in for questioning in Durant's shooting because of Alan's false accusations. Michael goes to the police station to try and protect Jason. Jason stops Michael from confessing to having killed AJ. Jodie overhears that Michael killed AJ. Jason is cleared in Durant's shooting. Jason asks Sam to take Michael to his appointment with Dr. Thomas. Sam is disappointed in Jason's continued lack of support in regards to Michael's therapy. She tells him that he needs to decide what is more important: Michael or Jason's hate for Dr. Thomas. Jason notices that the door to Sonny's penthouse is ajar and goes to investigate. He finds Sonny inside. Jason has concerns when Sonny informs him that Reese will be his new neighbor. Jason feels that it's going to cause quite a bit of hurt to Carly. Sonny resents the idea that Carly has moved on and married someone else but he can't do the same. He points out that the penthouse belongs to him and it's his decision.

Jason tries to get Carly into his penthouse before she realizes that someone is in her old penthouse but he's unsuccessful. Carly, upon hearing voices coming from inside the penthouse goes to investigate. She walks in just as Sonny is nuzzling Reese's neck. A furious Carly tells Sonny that no way will the conniving tramp live in her home.

Carly walks over to Jason's penthouse and tries to convince him that Reese has an agenda. She reminds him that when she came to town, she had an agenda to ruin Bobbie's life. She believes Reese's agenda is to ruin her life. After Carly leaves, Sam comes home and wants to know why Jason is so tense. He explains that Carly had been there, and then apologizes for his behavior towards Michael's therapy. Sam understands and tells him that if they agreed about everything, their relationship would be boring. Jason says they can agree on one thing, and they kiss. Jason asks about Michael's progress, and Sam tells him about Michael's new friend, Jody. When Sam tells him that Michael's friend is a girl, Jason is shocked. Sam thinks this is Michael's first crush, so she asks Jason to be understanding. Sam changes the subject and asks Jason about Carly. He explains that Carly was upset that Reese was moving across the hall to Sonny's penthouse. He tells Sam about Carly's theory that Reese is after Carly's life. Sam doesn't buy it, and Jason admits he doesn't, either. He's worried that Carly will do something rash.

Emily admits to Sam that she's still not feeling anything when she and Nikolas are intimate. She fears that he can tell. Sam asks how Emily and Nikolas's relationship was before the rape. Emily admits that everything was wonderful. Sam thinks that Nikolas needs to know about Emily's problems. Emily doesn't know if that's the answer. She's going to give the situation more time. Sam is interrupted by a phone call. Michael calls and asks for Jason. Sam asks him what's wrong, and he replies that his dad is going to be mad. Sam goes over to Michael and tells him that Sonny won't be mad. He's just going to be happy that Michael's okay. Michael says he's not okay.

Alan wants to know what's taking so long with placing Michael in the Quartermaines' home. As he and Dr. Thomas argue, Sam calls Dr. Thomas and arranges an emergency therapy session. Dr. Thomas tells Alan that Sam may be Alan's greatest ally. When Sam and Michael arrive at the hospital, Dr. Thomas tells Michael that he will feel better once they figure out what's wrong. Michael tells Dr. Thomas that he broke a picture frame after he got mad. He thinks he's bad. Dr. Thomas tells him he's not bad. Sometimes good people do bad things. He asks if Michael ever got mad at AJ. Michael says he didn't mean to.

Carly enters Reese's new home and just as she begins to search in Reese's things, Jason comes out of the shadows and demands to know what Carly is doing. Despite Jason's protest, Carly begins rummaging through Reese's things. Carly tells Jason she has a right to look through the stuff in her house. Jason tells her she doesn't live there anymore. Carly stops and relives the memories from her past with Sonny that they shared in the penthouse. Jason admits that he doesn't trust Reese, and Carly jumps in his arms, knowing all along that he would be on her side. As Jason and Carly argue over what they should do, Sonny and Reese walk in kissing. Jason and Carly hide and watch Reese and Sonny fall to the couch. Thankfully, Reese and Sonny decide to go upstairs and Carly and Jason make their escape. Outside the penthouse, Carly calls Sonny her husband. Jason reminds her again that Alcazar is her husband. She remembers that she was supposed to be at the Quartermaine party with him. After she gets on the elevator, Jason listens to his voicemail and learns from Sam about Michael's problems. He rushes out to meet them and bursts in on Dr. Thomas and Michael's therapy session before Michael can admit to killing A.J. He tells Michael he needs to go home. Dr. Thomas protests, saying Michael was just about to tell him something important. Dr. Thomas asks to speak to Sam alone, and Jason takes Michael home. He tells her that he knows Michael killed A.J.

Sam is furious when she walks into Dr. Thomas's office as he's listening to his last session with Michael on a recorder. She makes quick work of confiscating the tape while Dr. Thomas tries to explain that it's standard procedure for him to tape sessions. He tapes all of his sessions. Sam doesn't care. She warns him that he probably won't be seeing Michael again if the sessions are being recorded. Dr. Thomas tries to reason with her. He tells her that Michael is on the verge of a breakthrough and this is the worst time for him to be pulled out of therapy. He pleads with Sam to reconsider, stressing that it's in Michael's best interest. Sam is persuaded enough to tell him that she would consider it but first she would speak to Jason.

Jason questions Michael about his session with Dr. Thomas, specifically whether or not he told Dr. Thomas how AJ died. Michael says no. He did not tell Dr. Thomas about what really happened to AJ. Jason is relieved and reassures Michael that everything will be ok. He cautions Michael not to tell anyone about AJ's death. Jason tells Michael that is was an accident to make the lies stop but others may not see it that way.

Sonny tells Jason that Michael has learned his bad behavior from Sonny himself and that maybe therapy is the best thing for Michael. Jason tells him that he pulled Michael out of his session the previous night just before Michael could share the truth about how AJ died. Sonny is a bit taken aback to realize that Michael seems to trust Dr. Thomas that much. Sonny thinks that maybe it would be a good thing for Michael to share the truth with someone outside the family. Jason reminds Sonny that they picked Dr. Thomas because he kept his sessions confidential but worries what would happen if Dr. Thomas decided to tell the authorities about Michael killing AJ. Sonny tells Jason that if that happens then Dr. Thomas will have to be "handled" but not until after he has helped Michael. Sam overhears the exchange. When she makes her presence known, Sonny goes out to talk to Michael while Sam stays inside to talk to Jason. She doesn't tell him about the taped sessions.

Michael returns to Dr. Thomas for a session. Dr. Thomas and Michael discuss AJ as Sam and Jason wait outside. Sam reassures Jason that if Michael reveals anything to Dr. Thomas about AJ, Dr. Thomas will respect their doctor/patient confidentiality. When Michael is finished, Dr. Thomas asks to speak to Sam alone. Jason meanwhile questions Michael about the session and how it went. Michael informs Jason that Dr. Thomas told him that he wasn't obligated to share what they said during their sessions. He then surprises Jason by saying he trusted Dr. Thomas enough to share what really happened with AJ.

Sam walks with Michael through the park on the way to GH to see Dr. Thomas for another therapy session. Michael talks her into going to buy them a pretzel to share on their way. While she is doing that, Michael calls out to Jody to come out of the bushes to talk to him. Jody doesn't come out of the bushes, but her mother does. Her mother tells him that she wants him to stay away from her daughter before she gets her killed by his gangster father and uncle. She tells him that Jody is smashing things again and accuses him of being the cause of it and that Jody's father wants Jody to move away from the neighborhood. Michael is upset by what she tells him.

Jason steps off the elevator and has a flashback from when he was hospitalized after his brain injury years ago and how he woke up and Monica was there and he remembers a nurse coming in right after Monica went to call the family and how the nurse mentioned that Dr. Thomas would be in shortly. Jason is unnerved by the memory just as Dr. Thomas touches his arm to ask him if he is okay. Jason shakes himself of the memory and tells him he is okay. Sam and Michael get off the elevator. Dr. Thomas walks with Michael to his office. Sam asks Jason what is wrong. Jason tells her that he had a vague memory of waking up in the hospital after his head injury and that he feels that something wasn't right concerning Dr. Thomas but he doesn't know what it is. Suddenly, Michael runs out of Dr. Thomas' office and runs into Jason's arms. He tells Jason he doesn't want to talk to him anymore. Jason takes Michael home. Michael tells him about how he saw his friend Jody's mother in the park and how she told him to stay away from Jody because he will get her killed with his father being a gangster. Jason offers to go and talk to Jody's dad and persuade him that Jody will be safe playing at the mansion. Michael asks him not to beat up Jody's dad. Jason is disturbed by Michael's plea.

Dr. Thomas gets a hold of Jason's old CAT-scans taken after his accident. He is looking at them when Sam barges in and asks him why Michael would run out of a therapy session again when he was making progress with him. She notices the CAT-scan x-rays and asks him what they are. He tells her they belong to Jason. She asks him what he is doing with them. He tells her he is comparing them to Michael's case. She tells him that their cases are nothing alike. Dr. Thomas tells her that he doesn't totally agree with that and comments that Jason's case resulted from physical trauma and Michael's is more from emotional trauma. He upsets Sam when he tells her that Jason lacks emotion and is incapable of feeling any kind of emotion. Sam tells him he is wrong and that Jason shows his love for Michael and her every day. Dr. Thomas tells her that the heart can be a mystery too. He asks her if she would be willing to persuade Michael to return to therapy again. After she leaves, Dr. Thomas looks at her medical file as well.

Justus meets with Jason to give him a report on what he found out about Dr. Thomas. He tells Jason that he found out that Dr. Thomas has a God complex, meaning he thinks he can save every one of his patients. Jason asks Justus to keep digging on more information on Dr. Thomas even though Michael seemed to have made progress with him. Justus is pleased to be able to investigate for him as long as it means he can spend more time with Dr. Winters, who he has a thing for. Jason tells him that he just doesn't trust Thomas and thinks there is something about him that isn't right. Later, Jason tells Michael that he has some bad news for him. He tells Michael that he went by Jody's house and the movers had already removed all of the furniture and that no one answered the door.

Carly is not happy when she arrives at Sonny's only to be told by Jason that Sonny is not at home. She immediately suspects that Sonny is with Reese. She rages about Sonny choosing spending time with his latest mistress over his children and then tells Jason that she is going to take Morgan home and not bring him back until Sonny calls her.

Jason talks to Dr. Thomas about the accident that left Jason the way he is now. Dr. Thomas explains that he was called in a few days after Jason emerged from his coma but that Jason was unresponsive. As Dr. Thomas is talking, Jason remembers seeing Dr. Thomas in his hospital room but instead of being focused on his patient, Dr. Thomas had his hands all over a nurse while he was trying to kiss her. Later, Jason calls Justus and asks for his help and finding the nurse who was in the room. Her first name is Cybil. After Jason disconnects the call with Justus, Sonny walks in. He tells Jason his plans to take the boys to the park with Reese but Jason isn't supportive. He feels Sonny is making a grave mistake by forcing Michael to be around Reese given all the problems he's had. Sonny explains his objective and adds that Carly is fully aware of what he is planning and accepted it. Jason is even more concerned after hearing what Carly's reaction was. He tells Sonny that if anything, Carly's behavior was a warning sign.

Jason warns Sonny about Reese's intentions. Sonny tells him that he's watching Reese like a hawk. Jason admits that Carly's theory does hold some merit. As they argue, Reese calls Sonny. She tells him that someone broke into the penthouse, before she passes out. Jason and Sonny come to check out Reese's penthouse. They can't find anything missing. Sonny wants to know who could have done this? Jason goes to find Carly. He interrupts her and Alcazar, asking to talk alone to Carly. She tells him she'll call him later. He says he will talk to her now, in front of Alcazar or alone. She tells him to go ahead and speak freely. He tells her he knows she broke into Reese's penthouse fifteen minutes ago, hit her on the head and robbed her, and wants to know why. Carly denies that she was in Reese's penthouse, but Jason persists. Alcazar steps in and says he was with Carly this afternoon, giving her an alibi. He demands that Jason stop bullying his wife, and warns him to never call her a liar again. Jason meets Sonny at his house and tells him that Carly was the one that broke into Reese's apartment. He tells him that this isn't the first time, either, and tells Sonny about the time he caught Carly in Reese's penthouse. Ric overhears Jason and Sonny talking about Carly breaking into Reese's penthouse. He steps in and says that he thinks Carly needs to be held accountable for what she did. Sonny agrees.

At Sonny's place, Jason tells Ric he has no right to say anything about Carly after what he did to her. Sonny defends Ric and tells Jason he is as paranoid as Carly is. Ric tells Sonny that Reese wouldn't hurt anyone and she doesn't deserve this. Sonny tells Ric not to worry, he will handle it. He tells Jason that he is too loyal to him and Carly. Jason says that Reese lied to Sonny once, and he deserves to find out if she's lying now, too.

Dr. Thomas explains to Sam that if Michael sees Sonny take part in therapy, he will be more willing to go. Sam agrees to talk to Sonny. Sam meets Jason and tells him that she just came from meeting Dr. Thomas. She explains that he wants Sonny to take part in Michael's therapy. Jason changes the subject and tells Sam about what Carly did. She's not surprised. Jason tells her that he thinks Carly may be on to something, but he doesn't trust what she may do. Sam thinks that Jason isn't being fair to Reese, because he's not objective when it comes to Michael and his happiness. When Jason leaves, Sam walks outside and sees Ric entering Reese's penthouse. As she mulls over her suspicions, Carly knocks on her door and asks to speak with Jason. She tells her that Jason is over at Sonny's house defending Carly. She erupts at Carly and finally tells her off, slamming the door in her face. At Sonny's house, Sonny asks Jason to leave Reese alone.

Jason tells Sam about Sonny's request for him to leave Reese alone. When Sam asks him whether he will or not, Jason doesn't hesitate. He has no intention of honoring Sonny's request. He feels that Carly's instincts are accurate. Sam feels that Carly would be suspicious regardless who Sonny is seeing but Jason is adamant. Carly is on to something in regards to Reese. Sam decides to share with Jason what she saw the previous evening. She tells him that she saw Ric visit Reese but is careful to remind him that they are business partners so it was most likely about business. Jason doesn't think so. He's even more suspicious than ever and tells Sam that he intends to look into it.

Jason interrupts Carly and Lorenzo as he walks into the room demanding to know what Carly knows about Reese. Carly quietly asks Lorenzo to leave and turns to Jason, demanding that he not barge into her home whenever he pleases. Jason points out that Carly has done just that to him for years, so she is hardly in a position to make such a request. Carly admits that she never respected his privacy before but she can now appreciate how wrong she was and intends to respect his privacy from that point forward. She expects the same courtesy from Jason. Carly also tells Jason to start showing Lorenzo respect and stop acting like her marriage doesn't count. She goes on to tell Jason how wonderful Lorenzo is to her. Jason listens but doesn't comment when she's done. He instead asks her about Reese, specifically why she's so worked up about her. Carly explains that her instincts tell her something is off with Reese. It's not about jealousy but concern over Sonny. However, she is done with worrying about Sonny. Carly tells Jason that from now on, any concerns she may have about Reese, she intends to share with her husband and her husband only.

Emily pays Sam a visit. She tells Sam about the distance between her and Nik despite their efforts to get their relationship back on track. Sam advises Emily to be honest with Nik. In the course of their discussion, Sam brings up Jason's issue with Reese and how Sam saw Ric visit Reese the previous day. Sam tells Emily that he feels the visit was more than work. He suspects that Ric and Reese are in bed together so to speak. As Sam walks into the other room, Emily is clearly remembering seeing Ric leaving Reese's hotel room after their one night stand a few weeks earlier. Emily is waiting for Jason when he arrives home. After Emily tells Jason that Sam went to meet with Dr. Thomas, she tells him that she stuck around because she had to tell him something. Emily then brings up the conversation that she had with Sam about Carly's obsession with Reese. Jason confirms that he does have suspicions about Reese.

Dr. Thomas upsets Sam when he insinuates that Jason may have taken Michael away when he was an infant to get revenge on A.J. for causing his accident. He asks Sam if she knows why Jason hates him so much. She tells him that he didn't like any of the doctors that were treating him back then and doesn't think it is personal. When Dr. Thomas makes his accusations, Sam instantly defends Jason's honor and makes it clear to Dr. Thomas that Jason loves Michael and will do anything for him.

Jason talks to Emily about his suspicions about Reese and Ric being up to something. Emily doesn't end up telling him about how she saw Ric leave Reese's hotel room awhile back and how it was obvious they had slept together. She talks to him instead about how he should spend more of his time focusing on Sam instead of always coming to Carly's rescue. She tells him that he shouldn't take Sam for granted. Jason tells Emily that he has already forbidden Carly to come to his place unannounced anymore but that he still feels like he needs to help Carly because she is his friend. Sam returns home later, upset about her meeting with Dr. Thomas. She tells Jason what Dr. Thomas said about him and how he wanted to know why he hated him so much. Jason tells her that is the reason he didn't want Michael to go see him. He feels maybe he should not let his own personal feelings about Dr. Thomas interfere with Michael seeing him since Michael is getting better. They spend some time alone together and cuddle up and kiss. Sam leaves later and Justus shows up. He tells Jason that he talked to someone he trusts earlier (Dr. Winters) who told him that Dr. Thomas has been showing a more personal interest in Sam lately. Michael gets a visit from Jodi, who tells him she ran away from both her parents and her grandmother thinks she is on a cruise with her father. Sam shows up to see Michael and hears him talking to someone on the other side of the door. She goes to investigate and Jodi hides behind the couch. She asks Michael who he was talking to.

Sam tells Jason that she is uncomfortable with Dr. Thomas's attempts to gain her trust by being overly nice to her. Just then Dr. Thomas walks out with Michael, who is finished with his session. After Jason and Sam leave to take Michael home, Dr. Thomas's nurse walks up carrying Michael's backpack. She hands it to Dr. Thomas and leaves, hoping to make it home before the hurricane hits. Left alone with the backpack, Dr. Thomas takes the opportunity to search through it and finds a notebook. He flips through the notebook, reading what Michael had written. Dr. Thomas arrives at Sonny's with Michael's backpack. He mentions seeing Michael's notebook and a note to someone named Jodie. He asks Sam and Jason who Jodie is. Sam explains that Jodie is a friend of Michael's who lived nearby and has since moved. Dr. Thomas feels that it's probably for the best that Jodie moved as it seems she was not a good influence on Michael. Both Sam and Jason are taken aback and ask for him to explain himself. Dr. Thomas points out that since Jodie moved, Michael has shown improvement in his behavior. Michael, who is standing at the top of the stairs, hears Dr. Thomas questioning Sam and Jason about Jodie. He returns to his room to confront Jodie. Clearly Dr. Thomas doesn't know who Jodie is which indicates to him that she was lying about her sessions with Dr. Thomas. Michael demands an explanation for Jodie's lies.

Jason refuses to have a session with Dr. Thomas. Dr. Thomas manipulates Jason into thinking he (Jason) might be doing Michael more harm than good. Sam tries to convince Jason that Dr. Thomas was wrong about Jason's inability to experience true emotions. Jason tries to make Sam understand that regardless how he pretends otherwise, he doesn't have the point of references he needs in order to truly to help Michael. He tells her what it was like for him after he emerged from his coma, brain damaged and how he built a life for himself. Sam listens but she refuses to believe that Jason is incapable of feeling love. She reminds him how the death of her daughter affected him, how deeply he feels for Michael and how tenderly he treats her. Jason has tears in his eyes as Sam convinces him that he is capable of emotions. They kiss and start to make love but Sam pulls away reminding him where they are and of the possibility that Michael and Dr. Thomas could walk in on them. She suggests going up to one of the six bedrooms but Jason doesn't want to, not while Dr. Thomas is around and there's a chance that Michael may need them. They decide to play dominos and the looser has to do shots of tequila. Cute musical montage of scenes of several Port Charles couples in romantic, intimate moments, kissing, Sam and Jason chasing each other around and just as Jason brings Sam down the floor with him obviously intent on kissing her, she passes out.

Jason stopped Dr. Thomas from talking to Mac. The doc confessed that, wanting to see his next birthday, he wasn't planning on spilling the beans to Mac that Michael was AJ's killer, and tried to convince Jason that he had nothing to worry about. And when he and Mac came face-to-face, the doc lived up to his word and kept mum. Dr. Thomas admits to Jason that he was once in league with Alan and voices his suspicion that Alan broke into his office and stole the tape from Michael's file. Jason confronts Alan, who has no idea about the missing file. Jason learns that Durant wants to question Dr. Thomas. Jodie encourages Michael to visit Carly. Jason pulls his gun when the police arrive to arrest Michael.

Sam interrupted Jason's standoff with the cops, bearing a shotgun. Jason tied up the cops, and Carly allowed him and Sam to flee with Michael. After Sonny caught Ric and Reese in an awkward moment, Ric informed them that Durant suddenly (and suspiciously) dropped his lawsuit against the hospital. Ric and Reese headed out, just before the three fugitives arrived at Sonny's, where Jason and Sam filled in Corinthos and ordered Michael to pack. The boy didn't want to leave his home, but Sonny assured his son that going into hiding was for the best. Knock, knock, it's the cops! Michael suggested they sneak through the hole in the fence that Jodie uses. The gang agreed, and off the trio went. With Emily's help, Jason, Sam and Michael set up camp in the grotto at Wyndemere. Em then hightailed it over to the Q's, where she met Nikolas, who "yet again" vowed they could make their marriage work. Good luck.

Jason and Sam hide out with Michael in the tunnels at Wyndemere. Sam points out to Jason that someone needs to make a decision within the next 24 hours about what they are going to do with Michael, whether to leave the country or turn him in? Jason says he can't make that decision that it will be up to Sonny and Carly. Sam encourages him to think about where they would go, to have a plan in place should the decision be to run. Jason says he doesn't know what the right thing to do is, to turn Michael into a fugitive or turn him in for murder and make him face the consequences? Jason compares him taking Michael on the run to what AJ did to Michael. Sam assures him that there is no comparison, that Jason loves and protects Michael. They agree to wait for Sonny and Carly to call. Sam tells him no matter what the decision is, she is in it with Jason all the way. Jason tells her there are a lot of places he wants to see with her. Sam points out there is always email to keep in touch with those they love back in Port Charles. Jason says the idea of being with her and Michael sounds like paradise, the downside is taking Michael away from his family.

Emily shows up at the mansion to inform him that Jason and Sam are hiding with Michael in the tunnels at Wyndemere and are waiting to hear word from him about what he wants to do with Michael. Sonny doesn't know what to do since he doesn't want to keep him away from the home and people he loves but also doesn't want him to have to live like a fugitive. Emily tells him to listen to his heart not his head. Emily returns to the tunnels and tells Jason and Sam she talked to Sonny, and that there is an APB out on both Jason and Sam for Michael's kidnapping, that Sonny wants them to get Michael out of the country immediately. Jason asks Sam if she is ready for this? She says, "what leave the country with the man I love and the little boy I'm crazy about?" She asks if they can handle her being the captain of the ship?

Sonny and Carly show up to say goodbye to Michael. They assure him this is only a temporary situation and they will bring him home as soon as he can. Sonny tells Michael he will be doing everything he can in Port Charles while Michael goes away with Jason and Sam. Carly hugs and kisses Michael goodbye and almost doesn't let him go but Sonny convinces her to let Michael go with them. Jason, Sam, and Michael board a ship going somewhere. Michael wants to check out his room below deck. Jason lets him go off alone to see his room. He is surprised when he shows up in his room and finds Jody, his mysterious friend sitting on the bed. He asks her why she is there and doesn't think it is a good idea for her to be there.

Jason confides to Sam that something is eating at him, something elusive. Meanwhile, Jodie tells Michael that she knows that he did not kill AJ. Upon questioning, Jodie admits that she was in the room that night so she has first hand knowledge about AJ's murder. Michael decides to talk to Jason and Sam. He finds them out on the deck and tells them that Jodie is on the boat. He takes them to his room and draws Jodie out of hiding from under his bunk. As he's asking her to tell Jason and Sam about what she saw the night AJ was killed, Jason and Sam become visibly concerned as Jodie is not real.

Michael talks to Jodie on the boat. Michael tries to explain his relationship with Jason. Jodie fears that Jason will make her go away and convince Michael not to like her anymore. Sam tries to help Jason understand Jodie and Michael's relationship. She believes Jodie is good for Michael and that she can help him. Sam thinks that Jodie is a figment of Michael's imagination, created to help Michael deal with the murder of AJ. Sam wants Jason to make believe Jodie is real in order to help Michael. Jason says he can't play make believe. Sam understands and tells him she will get the truth about Jodie. Sam goes into town and is being followed by police officers. She calls Jason and tells him he has to leave without her. As Jason hears the police approach Sam, Michael appears wanting to talk to him.

Jodie tells Michael that Jason believes Michael killed AJ and that Michael can't trust Jason. Michael wants Jason to tell Jodie that she is wrong about him. When Michael realizes Jason can't see Jodie, he becomes upset and accuses Jason of lying to him. Jason assures Michael that he will protect him. Against his better judgment, Jason calls Dr. Thomas for help. Dr. Thomas insists that Jason return with Michael to begin treatment immediately that this is more important than any pending charges. Dr. Thomas says something about being worried that Michael might not survive this. Those words trigger a flashback as Jason remembers Dr. Thomas saying that Jason would not survive after his accident. Dr. Thomas has the same flashback but his memory is different. Jason only remembers the words, but Dr. Thomas remembers saying the words while on the phone to AJ and then saying that he would kill Jason as they agreed. Jason calls Reese and tells her that he's not sure Michael killed AJ after all.

Jason calls Sonny to tell him about Jodie. According Reese's research, Jodie Monroe was a student at Michael's school approximately 26 years ago. Jason thinks that because Jodie won several spelling competitions and her picture was hung in the hallway, Michael saw the picture every day and therefore used her image to apply to his imaginary friend. He goes on to tell Sonny that Michael manifested Jodie in order to have someone to talk to about what he's been hiding and to help him deal with the issues that he's facing. Jason feels responsible for not having realized just how deeply in trouble Michael was but Sonny assures him that he's done everything that he could for Michael. Jason then tells Sonny that Dr. Thomas has suggested that Michael be returned home immediately and brought in for therapy. Sonny instructs Jason to head home but not to dock until Jason hears from him.

Michael wakes up to find Jodie standing over his bed with a pillow. He jumps out of bed and confronts Jodie about not being real. He becomes quite agitated and tells to go away. He never wants to see her again. Upon hearing Michael's yelling, Jason comes into the cabin and tries to explain why Michael's mind conjured up Jodie and advises him not to push her away for the moment. Michael admits that he's already done just that. Jason is understanding but tells Michael that if Jodie should make another appearance to not make her go away. Michael agrees. Michael returns to the cabin and calls out to Jodie. She reappears and says she has to leave now. He begs her not to go, that he needs her to tell him the truth. She tells him that he doesn't need her anymore and that the truth is within him.

Jason returns home with Michael, Durant arrives at Sonny's compound and immediately has Jason taken into custody for obstruction of justice and has Michael escorted down to police headquarters. There are several startling revelations made about Dr. Thomas as he recalls certain incidents in the past. The first memory is of Monica and Dr. Thomas discussing Jason's grave condition after the accident. After Monica leaves the room, Dr. Thomas pulls out a syringe and injects it into Jason's IV. As Jason flat-lines, Dr. Thomas calls AJ to tell him that per their agreement, he has done as AJ asked and he expects the favor to be returned. Dr. Thomas then warns AJ that if he ever breathes a word of their agreement to anyone, he will join his brother Jason in hell. The second incident that Dr. Thomas remembers is the night that AJ was murdered. He walks into AJ's room. AJ is still, his eyes closed as Dr. Thomas pulls on a pair of latex gloves. He asks AJ whom does he think he is to summon him and demand that he testify on AJ's behalf that AJ was mentally insane when he kidnapped Michael, shot Alan and tried to kill Jason once again. Evidently AJ threatened to reveal what Dr. Thomas did all those years ago if he didn't testify? Well that was unacceptable. He goes on to wonder what kind of jealousy would run so deep as to inspire one brother to desperately want another brother dead. AJ remains still, with his eyes closed as Dr. Thomas chuckles and says "Well you can't always get what you want." He then picks a pillow up off of the floor and continues with his speech saying, "They say one hands washes another. I needed money and you wanted your brother dead. I tried to accommodate you." He justifies his actions by blaming AJ for threatening to reveal their secrets and then lifts the pillow and holds it over AJ's face. Dr. Thomas is brought back to the present when Rachel Adair arrives at his office at his request. In his open desk drawer lays a vial and a syringe, he quickly closes the drawer.

Jason is brought to the interrogation room after spending the night in lock-up. He is reunited with Sam who also spent the night in lock-up. They are given time alone to talk. Jason tells her that he doesn't want her to be kept in jail because she was only helping Michael and that if he can get a deal, he will ask that the charges against her will be dropped. She tells him that they are in this together. Michael is brought to General Hospital by a social worker to see Dr. Thomas. Carly shows up there, guessing that is where he is. Michael is happy to see her but seems closed down emotionally otherwise. Carly asks if she can take Michael to go get a little breakfast in the cafeteria but Dr. Thomas and the social worker say no. Carly asks if she can sit in with Michael in his therapy session but Dr. Thomas says no to that. Suddenly, Reese shows up and notifies Dr. Thomas and the social worker that Michael won't be going anywhere near Dr. Thomas as of now.

Back at police headquarters, Sonny calls in some favors and gets the charges against Jason and Sam dropped. Reese shows up to tell Durant that she had an injunction put in place to keep Michael away from Dr. Thomas and tells them of her suspicions about Dr. Thomas being A.J.'s killer. Durant doesn't buy that scenario. Durant tells Sonny that he already has it set that Michael will get two years probation and not have to go to prison at all and his records will be sealed and that Sonny should just let Dr. Thomas get a confession out of Michael. Durant later calls Dr. Thomas and tells him he is arranging for Michael to come see him and he wants Dr. Thomas to get a confession out of Michael and that Durant will use that to get full custody of Michael.

Jason and Sam are un-cuffed and informed the charges were dropped against them and they are free to go. As they are leaving, Durant informs them that he called in some favors of his own and that he got a restraining order against them both, keeping them from going within 500 feet of Michael or they will both be arrested. Jason and Sam return to their penthouse, she is thrilled to be home. He feels guilty for being responsible for her getting arrested. She doesn't blame him and says she just got sloppy. They lean in and share a kiss.

Later, Jason has a dream that Michael is in the hospital, all bandaged up and he is locked outside his hospital room as he watches Dr. Thomas inject something into Michael's I.V. Jason screams himself awake. He tells Sam about the dream. Sam tries to explain to him that maybe the dream represents a suppressed memory for him from when he was hospitalized after the accident. Jason doesn't think that makes sense that he would dream about Michael being in the hospital. Sam suggests that maybe it was him in the hospital bed and that his brain is trying to bring a memory back to the surface concerning Dr. Thomas. Michael is brought back to Dr. Thomas' office. He sits down. Dr. Thomas suggests hypnosis to help Michael remember what he saw in A.J's room that night to help him remember that he killed A.J. that night. Michael suddenly looks over at the desk and points to it. Dr. Thomas asks him what he is looking at. Michael tells him that Jodie, his imaginary friend is there in the room with them. Dr. Thomas starts to have Michael count down from ten so he can hypnotize him. Jodie calls out to Michael not to trust Dr. Thomas and yells at him to run away from Dr. Thomas.

Jason and Sam discuss Dr. Thomas and the possibility that there is more to his involvement with Michael's case than meets the eye. As they are talking, Jason has another flashback and realizes there was a connection between Dr. Thomas and AJ. Dr. Thomas tries to hypnotize Michael. "Jodie" tries to convince Michael not to cooperate but Dr. Thomas is persistent and eventually prevails. Once Michael is under hypnosis, Dr. Thomas asks him what he witnessed the night that AJ died. Michael tells him that he didn't want AJ to hurt Morgan and Kristina again so he went to AJ's room. Once Michael was there, Michael picked up a pillow and held it over AJ's face until someone else walked into the room. Dr. Thomas asks Michael if he knows who the person was. Michael answers that the person was a man and he was angry because of certain secrets. Dr. Thomas keeps pushing and asks Michael if he knows who the man was. Michael answers, "It was you." Dr. Thomas then pulls a syringe out filled with an unknown liquid.

Outside of Dr. Thomas's office, John Durant arrives and demands that the session be ended so that he can take Michael home. He stopped in his tracks with Carly's arrival. This if followed by Ric. He informs John Durant that his temporary custody of Michael has been rescinded and that Michael will be going home with his mother. Just then Michael comes out of Dr. Thomas's office and immediately runs into Carly's arms. Jason arrives at Sonny's compound to welcome Michael home and to celebrate with the family that Michael is not responsible for AJ's death. Michael startles everyone when he announces that he knows who killed AJ and then names Rachel Adair as the killer. Reese is immediately suspicious and asks Michael when he suddenly remembered. Michael explains that he realized it during his session with Dr. Thomas and then goes on to tell everyone that he knows Jodie was an imaginary image and that he stopped seeing her in Dr. Thomas's office. Sonny is uncomfortable with Reese's questioning and brings a stop to it, concentrating instead on the fact that Michael is not the killer and that the truth is finally out. Jason seems equally suspicious as Reese of the convenient timing of Michael's recovered memory.

Jason returns to his penthouse and is quite agitated. He tells Sam about Michael's claim that Rachel killed AJ. As they are talking, they speculate that AJ might have contacted Dr. Thomas to help him convince everyone that he was insane at the time that AJ kidnapped Michael. They feel strongly that Dr. Thomas is the one responsible for murdering AJ, not Rachel. Jason is tempted to let the matter drop since Michael has been cleared of charges and there are other ways of dealing with Dr. Thomas than by having him face legal consequences for his actions if there's a need for that. Sam disagrees. She's convinced that if Dr. Thomas planted the lie that Rachel murdered AJ then the truth is still locked inside of Michael and it will ultimately do him more harm. Jason realizes that Sam has a valid point.

Reese goes to Dr. Thomas's office to confront him. She tells Dr. Thomas that Rachel told Reese just the other day that she saw Dr. Thomas leaving AJ's room at the time of AJ's murder. Reese goes on to tell Dr. Thomas that everything seems just a bit too convenient that Rachel confesses to murdering AJ and then commits suicide. Dr. Thomas doesn't say anything but he does reach into his desk draw to pick up a syringe filled with an unknown liquid.

Alan pulls a loose brick out of a wall in the garden to reveal a package. He slips into the Quartermaine mansion, shocked when Monica turns the lights on asking what he's been doing out on the terrace. Alan lies and says he feels close to his mother when he's in her garden. Sam and Jason interrupt and ask about Jason's treatment at the hospital after his accident. They think Monica and Alan are hiding something from them. Alan wants to know why they want to know about the accident now, after turning away from the family after the accident. Monica stops Alan's fit and tells Jason that Dr. Thomas treated him while he was in a coma. Jason asks where AJ was during all of this. Alan tells him that AJ was deeply concerned about Jason. The family stayed with Jason day in and day out until there showed no signs of hope. At that point, they would spend the day with him but go home at night. It was at nighttime when Jason's heart stopped. They want to know what caused his heart to stop, but no one ever found out. He was on blood pressure medication to stabilize his pressure, so they blamed it on that. She remembers the night as January 17th and recalls that the ICU staff revived him. The doctors told the Quartermaines that Jason would never recover and would have to be institutionalized. During their conversation, Alan continues to look uncomfortable. After they leave, Alan tells Monica that she was wrong. Jason never woke up. She slaps him and tells him it's because he tried to kill Jason. Alan admits that he didn't want his son to be a vegetable, but he didn't try to kill him. He was intending to sit with him, but when he got there the machines were already off. He revived Jason before the medical staff ever arrived. He never told Monica because he hesitated before reviving Jason. He thought Jason would be better off dead than alive, but he could never admit that to Monica. When Monica leaves, Alan goes back out to the veranda. He pulls an envelope out of the hiding spot behind the loose brick in the wall and reads a letter, crying.

Sam and Jason leave and go to the hospital to confront Dr. Thomas. They break into his office and find a file on Jason with the date January 17th missing. Dr. Thomas walks in on Jason and Sam as they're looking for clues in his office. Sam pockets the tape she found in Dr. Thomas's office and convinces Jason to leave without harming the doctor. When they get home, Jason tells Sam he wants her to deal with Michael and he will deal with his own problems. He's harsh on her and apologizes once he realizes it. Sonny’s tech guy interrupts them, but before Sam can explain what's going on Jason tells her to go upstairs and pack to go stay with Michael.

Once Sam goes upstairs, Jason explains that he wants the tape repaired in order to find out what's on the tape and then asks for drugs. The drugs he's referring to are supposed to induce memory of forgotten pasts. When Sam leaves to go to Sonny's, Jason starts to prepare the needle for the injection. Before he can inject himself, Sam comes back. Jason tries to blow her off and tell her to leave, but Sam won't go this time. She demands to know what he is shooting up? He tells her the drug company got his name from a list of brain injury patients with whom they wanted to try their new drug on. He turned them down, but now that he's remembering bits and pieces about his past with Dr. Thomas he smuggled the drug in to try it out himself. Sam is worried about the effects of the drug, but Jason tells her he takes the same risk every time he goes to work. The difference is this may help Michael. He thinks Michael needs to know for sure what happened, or it might affect him later on in life. He tells her he's seen she and Sonny blame themselves for their childhood and he doesn't want that for Michael. He thinks AJ bribed Dr. Thomas and later Dr. Thomas had to kill AJ. Michael somehow got mixed up in it and couldn't stop it. Sam asks Jason not to use the drug out of love for her. He tells her he loves her and to go upstairs and unpack. He's willing to let her stay while he uses the drug. She's not happy about him using the drug, but all the reasons why he's doing this are why she loves him. When she goes upstairs, he injects the serum into his arm. Sam comes back downstairs talking about when the best time it is for him to take the drug. He's already doped up and Sam freaks out. She's searching for the vial, in case she needs to give it to the doctors. In Jason's vision, he seems someone injecting something into his IV. First, he sees Dr. Thomas doing the injecting but then the face morphs and its now Alan doing the injecting then it morphs back to Dr. Thomas so he isn't sure who is actually doing the injecting.

Jason storms in the Quartermaine mansion as Monica confront Alan about what he's been doing out on the veranda. He pulls a gun on them and asks where AJ is. He thinks Alan is hiding AJ, protecting him as he always has. His vision is blurry, and it's not clear Sam is the one standing behind Alan. Monica convinces him AJ is dead, while Sam gets the gun away from him. Sam and Monica prepare to take him to a bed upstairs, while Alan calls 911. Before anything can happen, Jason escapes. Sam runs after Jason and finds him at the end of the Quartermaine driveway, where he wrecked his motorcycle. Jason is brought to the hospital unconscious. Tony Jones reassures Monica, Alan and Sam that Jason's injuries are not severe and he's expected to wake up within a few hours.
