Jason & Sam #37 February 5 - May 15, 2018: 8 hour original edit
DVD #37A 2/5 Carly told Jason that Sam's love for him would never go away, so he needed to fight for her. She wondered if he thought Sam would be happy with Drew. Jason shot back that he didn't get to decide what made Sam happy, and he asked Carly to "drop it." Carly agreed, as she would need Jason to talk her down for the approaching six months until Nelle had the baby. She dreaded that Michael would put up with more from Nelle than he should. Jason assured Carly that Michael was a good man who would be a good father, and Michael would put the baby first.
Just then, Michael entered the house and wanted to know what had angered Carly. She revealed that she had a good reason to be mad at Nelle, especially since she was going to be connected to the family "forever." Michael assured Carly that everything would be all right, especially since she had Jason to talk her down. Jason took that as his cue and excused himself.
"Cesar Faison's Reign of Terror Finally Over" was the headline of the article Peter read on his computer. An officer knocked on his door to inform him that the police were almost done at the Crimson office, and they were only looking for the bullet that had missed Peter. Jason entered the office and asked for details of Peter's last conversation with Faison, noting that Peter was the last person to see Faison alive. Jason asked about Henrik and the flash drive, but Peter claimed ignorance.
Jason continued by asking about the night Faison had taken over the Crimson office. He asked a few questions about Faison's thoughts, including why Faison couldn't have just grabbed Maxie at her apartment. Peter regretted that Jason couldn't get answers from Faison, but he insisted he didn't have any, either. There was a knock on the door, and an officer informed Peter that the police couldn't find the bullet. He advised Peter to call the police if someone found the bullet, and he left.
Jason wondered if Peter knew anything about the missing bullet. He shot back that the man who'd just left had a badge, and Jason didn't. He advised Jason to make an appointment if he had any more questions, as he was busy. Jason agreed to make an appointment with Peter through Sam's office, and he left. When he was alone, Peter breathed a sigh of relief.
Sam told Drew that she thought he could remember his past on his own, but he wondered if she had any ideas, because nothing he'd tried had worked. He thought getting the flash drive was his best chance. She urged him to be very careful with the flash drive if he found it, but she reminded him that he couldn't just plug it into his head. He knew that, but he just wanted to start out with finding the flash drive. She feared that he was chasing something dangerous. From the series of events surrounding the ornament with the flash drive, they deduced that someone had known that Anna had it and had beaten her to it at the ornament donation box.
Drew suggested that he call Anna as a starting point. Sam wondered if he wanted to call Jason, as well, but he thought that Anna could tell them all they needed to know. He had a meeting with Peter, so he kissed her and left. A short while later, Jason bumped into Sam in the hallway. She informed him that she and Drew had decided to look for the flash drive. She'd suggested working with Jason, but Drew hadn't wanted to. Jason thought they would go farther if they shared information, but she quietly reminded him that he hadn't shared information.
Sam continued that Jason preferred to work with Sonny and Spinelli, and Drew preferred working with her. She wished the two would treat each other like brothers, but she knew that wouldn't happy anytime soon. "I guess not," Jason agreed. She related that, while nothing would change that they were Danny's parents, she didn't think they would be seeing much of each other outside of that. "Take care," she said tearfully. "You know where to find me," he told her, and he left.
2/7 Sam placed a potted orchid on Drew's desk in front of him and gleefully told him to read the card. He opened the card and retrieved two plane tickets to Thailand. She wanted the trip to be a "do-over" for their honeymoon with just the two of them. They shared a kiss just as Alexis entered. Sam sheepishly greeted her mother, who wondered if they'd seen Ned's attack ad. Sam hadn't, so Drew told her about it. Alexis added that she didn't think Ned had known about it, but Sam pointed out that he hadn't made any effort to get it taken down. Sam suggested a counterattack.
Alexis asked for Aurora's endorsement, but Drew thought that their endorsement would "tank" her campaign. Sam agreed that an endorsement wouldn't mean much from the daughter that Alexis shared with Julian. Drew suggested that she get an endorsement straight from the Port Charles Press. Sam suggested that they strategize over lunch. Alexis agreed, so the two left.
Alexis and Sam entered Charlie's, and Julian promised to send a server over. Sam conceded that the place was "cool," but she wouldn't be going back often. Alexis assured her daughter that she and Julian wouldn't be getting back together, as Julian appeared to have a girlfriend. Jim approached the table and congratulated Alexis on her candidacy. She invited him to sit, and she introduced Jim and Sam. Jim told Alexis, who clearly wasn't thrilled, that he wanted to share his company's plans for the Charles Street redevelopment, to be fair. A short while later, Jim handed Sam his card in order to run some things by Sam and Drew. She promised to talk to Drew so they could figure it out.
2/8 At Charlie's, Sam told Alexis about Henrik and that Drew believed Jason had purposely withheld that information. Alexis suggested that Sam keep her distance from Jason, and Sam insisted that she was. Just then, Sam got a call from Drew, who told her that there was "something up at work." He said he would meet her at Charlie's to fill her in. "I need a favor," she asked Alexis when she was off the phone.
A short while later, Alexis was gone, and Drew entered the bar. They discussed the situation with Peter until Jim interrupted them. Sam introduced Jim and Drew, and Jim talked about using Aurora as a "major advertiser" for the Charles Street project.
Jim asked Sam and Drew for an endorsement, but they repeated that they were staying neutral, as Sam was related to Alexis, and Drew was related to Ned. "You're a Quartermaine?" Jim asked, surprised. He realized who Drew was and told him about how he'd dated Betsy while Drew had been in her care. As Drew glared at Franco, Sam asked if Jim could tell them anything about Drew's past. Jim answered that he'd heard Drew had died, but it looked like they'd been "meant to reconnect. Cheers!"
As Franco looked on, Jim told Drew that Drew was lucky to be alive after Franco had tried to kill him by shoving him down the basement steps. Drew shot up from the table, yelling at Franco. Franco knocked over his beer and realized that it had just been a daydream. When he was gone, Sam divulged that she got the feeling Jim was hiding something. As Elizabeth and Franco headed toward the door, Drew wondered why Franco hadn't told him that Jim had known them as kids. Franco dismissed it as ancient history, and they headed out. Sam realized that Franco had dropped something and handed him the rabbit's foot.
Carly wondered what Jason thought of the new living space she'd designed for him. He admitted that he liked it. "Thank God," she said, relieved. She showed him the boys' room and was glad that she hadn't gotten bunk beds. She related that Michael and Morgan had fought over theirs when they'd been little. She hoped that he would make many memories there. Jason confided that he was nervous about Danny's visit that night. She assured him that "kids pick up on things," and Danny had definitely picked up on how Sam felt about Jason. Carly thought it was only a matter of time until Sam revealed her feelings to Jason.
Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Jason opened it to Alexis with Danny. Danny thought that Jason's new place looked "cool," and Carly informed him that it was his, as well. A few minutes later, Danny remarked on how much Scout liked her Christmas toys, and Jason replied that he would know what to get Danny next year. Danny mentioned a Star Wars game that Jake had gotten, and Carly told Danny to look at the Star Wars things in his room.
When Danny was in his room, Carly wondered why Sam couldn't have dropped Danny off. "Work issue," Alexis said. Carly thought that Sam couldn't trust herself around Jason. When Danny returned, Alexis was gone, and Jason invited Carly to stay for dinner. Jason wondered what kind of pizza Danny wanted. "Whatever you're getting, Dad," Danny replied, which made Jason smile. Carly told him to get used to it, because he would always be a father to Danny. She said her goodbyes and left.
2/12 Sam remarked on the staring contest Drew seemed to be having with Franco. Drew felt that he was making Franco nervous. Across the room, Franco noticed Drew staring and averted his eyes. He suggested to Elizabeth that they go home and feel fortunate to be alive. She wanted to wait until Maxie arrived, so she got up to get them drinks. Drew walked over, and Franco immediately excused himself. Drew followed him to the bar, and Franco excused himself to make a phone call. Drew called Franco on avoiding him.
Drew wondered how long Franco had known about Jim without telling Drew. Franco cracked that they weren't friends, but he explained that they had been toddlers when Jim had dated Betsy. As Sam and Elizabeth approached, Drew wanted to see Franco's rabbit's foot, as it seemed familiar to him. Franco reluctantly handed it over, but it didn't jog any memories for Drew, so he returned it.
Away from Franco and Elizabeth, Drew wondered if Sam thought he was crazy for dwelling on a rabbit's foot. She reminded him that he'd recognized Kim, who'd turned out to be a big part of his past. She suggested that the rabbit's foot could be a "missing piece of the puzzle."
Peter arrived at the Floating Rib and approached Drew and Sam. Drew knew it wasn't an appropriate time to "talk shop," but he wondered if Peter had changed his mind about leaving Aurora.
2/13 Robin was pleasantly surprised when she bumped into Jason at Kelly's. After they exchanged warm greetings, she asked if he had a minute to talk. Jason nodded because Michael hadn't arrived yet. After they sat down, Robin thanked Jason for killing Faison because Faison had tormented her mother for most of Anna's life, and Anna was finally free.
Robin talked about Nathan's "heartbreaking" funeral and Nina's touching eulogy then mentioned that Drew and Sam had been among the mourners. Robin was surprised that Sam had married Drew because Robin had hoped that Sam would take a step back and evaluate her feelings before making any important life choices.
Jason believed that Sam wanted a life with Drew, but Robin disagreed. Robin explained that Sam had chosen Drew because abandoning him for Jason would have felt disloyal, and it would have made a lie out of every time that Sam had told Drew that she loved him. Robin had watched Patrick go through the same thing with Sabrina. She conceded that her husband had loved Sabrina, but his love for Robin had been stronger.
Jason accused Robin of sounding like Carly, so Robin advised him to heed their words because Robin and Carly seldom agreed. Robin stood to leave, but she decided to share a treat that she had picked up for Emma to celebrate Valentine's Day. Robin handed Jason a small heart-shaped candy then instructed him to read it before he popped it into his mouth. Jason looked at the candy, which read, "real love."
Michael entered the diner and greeted Jason. He was disappointed that he had missed Robin, but Jason assured Michael that Robin had loved Michael since Michael had been a baby. Jason marveled at how much time had passed, prompting Michael to ask if Carly had ever used Michael to get closer to Jason. Michael admitted that he feared that Nelle was hoping the baby would draw Michael back to her. Jason was curious if it would work, but Michael shook his head because Michael didn't love Nelle.
Michael conceded that he didn't even know Nelle because she was broken on the inside, and she told people what she thought they wanted to hear. Michael worried that it wasn't in Nelle to be a good mother, but he was reluctant to get embroiled in a custody fight, so he asked what Jason would do. Jason admitted that he wouldn't try to make a family with someone he didn't trust, and he encouraged Michael to focus on what was best for the child. Michael thanked Jason for the helpful advice.
Jason was settling his tab at the counter when Jake entered. Franco and Elizabeth were seconds behind Jake. Elizabeth tried to ease the awkwardness by telling Jason about Jake winning first place in the school's art show, but Jason's smile faltered when Jake credited Franco with helping him. Unaware of the tension between the men, Jake asked if Jason would be attending Elizabeth and Franco's wedding. Jason carefully explained that he wouldn't be able to make it then changed the subject by inviting Jake to visit him at his new place.
Jake worried that he'd said something wrong, but Elizabeth assured her son that everything was okay then took him to pick out some Valentine cupcakes. Franco acknowledged that Jason didn't support Elizabeth's decision to marry him, but he hoped that Jason wouldn't put Jake in the middle of things. Jason pointed out that Jake was too young to understand what Franco was, so Franco agreed that Jake was too young to comprehend that a brain tumor had driven Franco's behavior.
Franco tried to turn things around by asking if brain damage had caused Jason to become a "stone-cold killer," but Jason refused to rise to the bait. However, Franco hit a nerve when he suggested that Sam should be more afraid of Jason than of Franco because Jason had spent years "doped up" in a clinic. Jason vowed that Franco would pay one day for the things that Franco had done.
Elizabeth returned with Jake then sent her son with Franco to the car. After they left, Elizabeth questioned Jason about what he and Franco had talked about, but Jason refused to tell her. Elizabeth reminded Jason that Jake was excited about the wedding, and he had wanted Jason to be there to celebrate, but Jason admitted that he couldn't attend. Elizabeth knew it was because Jason disapproved of Franco, but she assured him that Franco had helped their son. Jason was unmoved because Jake didn't know Franco the way that Jason did.
Resigned, Elizabeth insisted that they needed to find a way to coexist, but Franco and Jake returned to check on her. Elizabeth promised to be right there then turned her attention back to Jason. Elizabeth's tone softened as she advised Jason to think about his future and moving forward. She gently asked him to let go of his anger because people could change, and she wanted Jason to be happy. She wished him a happy Valentine's Day then left.
2/14 Jason opened his Valentine from Danny, which read, "Happy heard day, Dad. Love, Danny." Danny asked if Jason had a Valentine, and Jason answered in the negative. "Who gave you this?" he asked, holding the heart candy up. Jason replied that a friend had given it to him, and he offered it to Danny. However, Danny revealed that his stomach hurt from eating too much chocolate at school, and he wanted Sam. Jason offered Danny some club soda, even though Danny was only used to ginger ale. Jason thought Danny should try the club soda and got up to get some. When Jason was gone, Danny picked up Jason's phone.
Drew took two drinks over to Sam at a pool table, and Sam handed Drew his Valentine from Danny. It read, "Happy heard day to my other dad," and Drew was touched. Just then, Molly approached and asked where Alexis was while she was watching Scout. Sam knowingly told Molly that Alexis was at Sam and Drew's place, so the house was all Molly's.
Danny drank the club soda and revealed that it worked as well as ginger ale for his stomachache. Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Jason was surprised to answer it to Sam. She informed him that Danny had called her, so she'd picked up some ginger ale on the way. Sam instructed Danny to get his stuff, but he begged to stay at Jason's. He wanted both Sam and Jason to put him to bed. When Danny was tucked in, he asked for Sam and Jason to take turns reading him a story. They obliged, and Danny quickly fell asleep. Sam wanted to stay for a while to make sure Danny was asleep, so Jason left the room.
Sam decided that Danny was asleep for the night, and she got up to leave the bedroom. Danny suddenly woke up and told Sam he loved her. He assured her that he was feeling better, and she promised to see him in the morning. He added that he'd liked when she and Jason had read to him. She kissed him and left the room.
There was a knock on the door, and Jason answered it to Drew. Jason explained that everything was all right with Danny, but Drew was suspicious of how Sam had ended up at the apartment. "You say you're going to take yourself out of the equation, but you never do," Drew accused. He wanted Jason to admit that he was only out for what he wanted.
"All I'm doing is living my life," Jason replied, adding, "How you deal with it is up to you." Sam emerged from the bedroom and assured Jason and Drew that Danny was all right. She and Drew left the apartment, but not before Drew shot a glare back at Jason.
2/16 Jason visited with Carly and revealed that he'd spent the night with Danny. He also mentioned that Drew had accused him of withholding information on Henrik. Carly was happy about Danny and thought that Drew was angry because Sam was in love with Jason. She went off as usual about Sam and Jason, and Jason was relieved when the doorbell rang.
When he saw that it was Diane, he wasn't so thrilled. Diane demanded to know why Jason had been avoiding her, and she told Carly that Jason had been named as a beneficiary in Faison's will. Diane explained that she couldn't proceed until all parties had been notified, but Jason refused to attend the reading of the will. Jason was adamant that he wanted nothing to do with the man who had taken five years of his life.
The women nagged at Jason, and Carly exclaimed that ignoring Faison wouldn't make whatever he'd set up go away. Carly was interrupted with a phone call from Sonny, who filled her in on Mike's appointment and offered her a rain check for Valentine's Day. Diane advised Jason that she agreed with Carly's assessment. Before Carly headed back to Diane and Jason, she looked at the unknown number again from the mysterious phone caller.
Drew and Sam arrived to hear the reading of Faison's will because Drew was a beneficiary. Henry Sullivan, an associate of Diane's, announced that the others would be there shortly. Sam hoped the will would be better than Helena Cassadine's will. That woman had cursed her and left her a third of a penny, Sam proclaimed. Anna was anxious. Finally, Diane arrived followed by a reluctant Jason.
Awkwardly, everyone sat at a big conference table. No one was happy as Diane began to read Faison's last will and testament. He asked to be buried in Denmark. Britt was awarded sandbags that lined his estate because she'd been a weight dragging him down. Drew was given a way to restore his memories, but Dr. Maddox's procedure was locked in a safe. Jason had the ability to receive Henrik's alias and location, but that was also locked in the same safe. Diane continued reading and revealed that each man would receive his information only upon the death of the other.
Diane declared that the will was legal. Anna noted that Faison had wanted to create maximum suffering and destruction, as usual. Jason and Drew looked at each other. Drew clarified that one of them would have to die for the other to get what he wanted.
2/19 Anna, Jason, Sam, and Drew all cursed Faison for playing mind games, even in death. Jason asked to hear the provisions again, just in case they'd missed something, so Diane complied. She added that the man who'd been in charge of Faison's safe had died, and no one seemed to have any information of another contact. Next, Diane handed Anna a silver figurine in a glass case. She explained that Faison had left Anna the figurine, which was "Freya, the Norse goddess of fertility, beauty, love, and death."
Anna didn't want the figurine, as it reminded her of Faison's "sick obsession" with her, but Diane advised her to at least have it appraised. Anna replied that Diane could sell it and donate the money to a charity. Diane agreed to facilitate the sale after Anna chose a charity. "Anything else?" Anna wondered. Diane concluded that the rest of the estate had been left to "my son." She revealed that, while there was no indication of which son Faison had meant, the will had been written after he'd found out that Nathan had been his son.
Anna suggested that Maxie technically had a claim to the estate. Diane agreed, but she revealed that Henrik also had a claim. Jason hoped that Henrik would emerge from hiding to stake his claim. Anna offered to talk to Maxie about it, as she planned to see Maxie that day. "And that's the last word from Cesar Faison," Diane stated.
Drew confided in Sam that he was very tired of following leads just to get nowhere. He wondered if Sam was afraid that he and Jason would go after each other, but she thought they were "too smart to play [Faison's] game." She assured him that they would use the resources Aurora had given them to find the flash drive. There was a knock on the door, and Peter entered, wanting to talk about his resignation. He revealed that, after some "soul-searching," he'd realized that he wasn't ready to leave Port Charles. He told them that he had a life and people there that he didn't want to leave.
2/20 Alexis campaign is tanked when Julian’s past and her involvement with him is revealed, she loses the election. Sam told Alexis how sorry she was then she left with Drew.
2/21 Sam arrived with some food and expressed dismay at Maxie's actions. Maxie admitted that she couldn't leave her apartment as it was because it only reminded her that Nathan wouldn't be returning. Sam suggested a break, but Maxie wanted to finish. Sam began to help Maxie pack, and going through Nathan's nightstand, she found some items that she thought Maxie should keep. Maxie mentioned that the Jeter-signed baseball was something she'd given Nathan for a wedding present. She was adamant that nothing remain. Sam commented on several of the items and suggested again that Maxie keep some items. She thought that one day, Maxie would want to "dive into" her memories.
Maxie insisted that she couldn't keep replaying her life with Nathan, and it wasn't good for the baby. Sam related how she'd gone through the same thing when she'd thought that Jason had died, but she'd saved a few things. She still thought that Maxie and the baby would want them. Maxie called Sam clueless, though Sam insisted she'd gone down the same path, and she understood. Maxie reminded her that Jason was alive, and Sam had only thought he'd been dead.
Maxie had watched Nathan die, and she'd watched him be buried. She knew where he was and where he'd be forever. He wasn't going to be back. The women finished packing, and Maxie thanked Sam for her help. Maxie had to get ready for work, and she went into the bedroom. Sam quickly snatched a small box before she headed out the door. Maxie emerged from the back and removed the photos from the mantel. She placed them in a box and sealed it up.
2/22 Jason entered Sam's office with a question about the Port Charles Press. Peter entered the room and turned to leave after interrupting, but Sam thought he could help answer Jason's question. Jason asked if the newspaper could run an article about Faison's will in order to draw out Henrik. Jason and Sam filled Peter in on all of the details, which Peter commented were "diabolical." Sam suggested that running the article would have the opposite effect and cause Henrik to run. As Sam started to veto the idea of the article, Peter got a phone call and left the office.
Sam flat out told Jason that she didn't want to risk running the article. She was desperate for Drew to get answers about his past, but even if he didn't, "life goes on." Peter returned and asked about the verdict. "Scratch it," Jason answered. He vowed to keep looking for Henrik on his own, and Sam wished him luck. When he was gone, Peter called the stories of Faison "fascinating to the outside observer." He also marveled at how different Jason and Drew really were.
Sam agreed with Peter's observation on the brothers, further explaining that, while Jason could move on and let things go, Drew needed to search for a resolution. She added that finding answers wouldn't change how the previous five years had happened, so while Jason lived in the moment, Drew was still struggling with what had happened. Peter wished he could help more. Sam joked that he could find Anna's disco ball ornament with the flash drive in it. Peter admitted that he couldn't help with that, and he left the office. He remembered having the ornament and breaking it open to reveal the flash drive.
2/23 Carly asked Jason if she was crazy for going to the cops instead of Spinelli. Jason reasoned that they used Spinelli for pretty much everything, but Carly thought she could use Spinelli as a "fallback." Carly approached Dante at the station and explained the strange phone calls she'd been getting. He took her phone to trace the number.
In the interrogation room, Jason wondered why Carly had waited so long to tell him about the calls. Carly had thought she was overreacting, but during the last phone call, she'd heard an explosion. She related that she'd missed him, because she knew she could always go to him for anything. She could count on him and acknowledged that she probably took advantage of him. She realized that he always found a way to fix her problems, so she wanted to help him fix things with Sam. Just then, Dante entered and revealed that he'd gotten a hit on the phone number. It was a pay phone off of "Route 35." Carly wanted to go see the pay phone, and Dante agreed to meet her there.
A short while later, Dante, Carly, and Jason found the pay phone as someone watched from the bushes. Carly walked away thinking that they'd missed some kind of clue in the darkness. Dante quietly informed Jason that Morgan had been killed "two-hundred yards from here. He died in an explosion."
2/26 Carly thought Dante might have missed something in the dark, so she walked away to look. Dante informed Jason that Morgan had died about two hundred yards from where they were standing and explained what had happened that night. When he was done, Carly returned, and Jason decided to have a look around. Dante imagined that it was hard for Carly to be back there, and she insisted that she wasn't imagining anything. She knew what an explosion sounded like.
Jason returned with a homeless man he introduced as Cal. Cal explained that he'd seen some well-dressed man, who he'd assumed was a drug user, using the pay phone. Cal suspected that the man had been trying to call his dealer but had been dialing the wrong number. Dante asked if Cal had seen an explosion, and the man admitted that the user had "exploded" after not being able to reach his dealer. Jason gave Cal some money, and Cal walked away.
Dante advised Carly to block the number. She sincerely thanked him for his help, and he left. She recounted to Jason the day Morgan had died and how she'd found out. Jason admitted that he'd give anything to go back and stop it. She told him about how they'd briefly thought Sonny had been to blame, but even after finding out the truth, the grief was still there. Jason related that, although one thought that answers could cause peace, there was "still a loss."
Carly arrived home with Jason in tow. She had something to tell Sonny, but she realized something was wrong with him and asked what it was. Clutching his father's watch, Sonny told Carly and Jason the details about Mike's diagnosis. He blamed himself for not checking on Mike more often, but Carly and Jason insisted that it wasn't Sonny's fault. He told them about Mike getting arrested that night and assured them that Dante was staying with Mike.
Sonny remembered that Carly had something to say, but she answered that it wasn't important. She thought they should discuss "next steps" for Mike, but Sonny wanted to do it later. He wandered off to the kitchen to cook something, and Carly and Jason promised to join him. Carly informed Jason that Sonny needed them. "We'll be here," Jason vowed.
A short while later, Nelle arrived at the pay phone. Cal approached her, and she handed him a box full of bottles of vodka. She promised that there was more in the car for him. "How did it go?" she wondered. "They ate up that story like it was their last meal," he answered.
2/28 Sam and Drew's home was decorated for Scout's first birthday party. There were colorful balloons everywhere, and the baby wore a pink crown tied around her head. Molly and Alexis arrived for the party, followed by Monica and then Oscar. Monica noted that while she was happy that Ned had won the mayoral election, she knew that Alexis would have made a fine mayor, as well. Monica also handed Drew a gift. It was a silver heirloom that had belonged to Lila.
Oscar presented Scout with her baby proof toy, and he spoke to Drew about that evening's dance. He was nervous and awkward about dancing in front of Josslyn's mother and brother in the event that they were chaperoning. Drew checked with Sam, and they both agreed and offered to be chaperones instead of Josslyn's family members. Sam asked Monica to babysit. Everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to Scout, and Danny blew out the candle on the cupcake.
Later, Alexis and Molly sat with Sam on the sofa. A deliveryman showed up with a huge stuffed bear that said "I come from a long line of strong women." Sam opened the card, and it was from Julian. Molly was livid and demanded that Sam send it back. Alexis didn't think it was a big deal, but Sam reiterated that she didn't want Julian to play a part in Scout's life.
3/2 Cute scenes as Carly is taking pictures of Josselyn and Oscar heading to the dance. Jason shows up and takes a picture of the three of them. After the kids leave, Carly complains to Jason that Josselyn is unrelenting when she wants something. The look he gives her is priceless. She looks at him in a moment of self-awareness, “I KNOW!”
Students and chaperones were gathered at the Floating Rib for the alternative dance. Sam and Drew flirted with each other. The students were dancing and having fun when a teen boy suddenly made his way in, shouted, "Freaks," and tossed a red paint-filled balloon into the crowd. It hit Josslyn.
The girls surrounded Josslyn and tried to clean her up, to no avail. She admitted she was fine, and her dress looked "Jackson Pollacky." One of the girls was sure the balloon had been meant for her. Drew pulled Sam onto the dance floor to get everyone dancing and having fun again. The crowd applauded them when the music ended. Sam realized she had to get the kids, but she implored Drew to stay.
Jason and Michael met at the Quartermaine mansion. They sat on the sofa, and Michael asked if Jason would be willing to take his baby if something happened to him and Nelle. He didn't trust anyone else more than Jason. "I'd be honored," Jason replied. Michael asked how many photos Carly had taken of Oscar and Josslyn. Jason told him a lot. Michael recalled Carly doing the same thing when he'd been young, but he had plans to take a lot of photos of his own child.
Sam peeked into the room as Jason and Michael spoke, and she finally announced that she was there for her kids. Michael left. Jason was surprised to hear that Danny was in the house, and Sam suggested he say goodnight to the little boy when she went upstairs to get him.
A few minutes later, Sam and Jason walked back into the sitting room. Sam had hated to wake up her kids. She and Jason joked about the dog, and Jason suggested that the dog be at his place the next time Danny spent the night. Sam was appalled and said that she'd be afraid that Danny would never want to return home.
3/5 As the ground began to shake at the Quartermaine mansion, Jason grabbed Sam and pulled her away from the windows as she screamed. When the shaking was over at the Quartermaines', Sam ran upstairs to check on the kids. She returned and informed Jason that they'd slept through the earthquake, and Jason told her that cell phones and landlines weren't working.
Ned and Olivia entered, and Jason assured Ned that there didn't seem to be any structural damage. Ned explained that they'd taken some precautions when the family had rebuilt after the 1991 earthquake. Ned found a radio, which instructed everyone to stay off the roads so that emergency vehicles could get through. As mayor, Ned wanted to go downtown, but Jason thought it was a good idea to stay off the roads. Sam suddenly asked how Jason had gotten to the house. When he replied that he'd taken his motorcycle, Sam asked him to take her into town so that she could find Drew, as he'd been near the epicenter of the earthquake. Jason agreed.
A short while later, Sam and Jason were walking toward the Floating Rib when they bumped into Mike. He recognized Jason but didn't know who Sam was until she introduced herself. He apologized and admitted his recent diagnosis of Alzheimer's. Mike insisted that he was there for a reason, but he couldn't remember what it was.
3/6 Sam and Jason ran into Mike on the street near the Floating Rib. Mike told them that he had promised to help a man who had been trapped, but he couldn't remember the particulars. Jason explained where they were standing, and Mike admitted that things looked different from the way he had remembered them. Jason suggested that he search for the man himself, and he suggested that Mike accompany Sam to the evacuation center.
Elizabeth waited at the church alone in case Franco showed up. As she sat there, talking to herself, convinced that a disaster loomed outside, Sam and Mike wandered in. Sam wondered if Franco had left Elizabeth at the altar, and she mentioned how bad it was outside. Mike and Elizabeth remembered each other, and Mike urged Sam to go. He advised Elizabeth that Sam wanted to be with her husband Jason. Elizabeth looked over at Sam, who grimaced. Mike stated that he would stay with Elizabeth.
Franco remained stuck under the cabinet in Harvey's trailer office and continued to make noise. He assumed that the old man had forgotten about him until he heard footsteps. "What took you so long?" he asked. He was shocked to find Jason standing over him. "I thought you were getting married," Jason said. Franco joked that he'd decided to fall under the cabinet for luck. Franco knew that Jason hated him, but Franco had to be somewhere, and he thought it would be against Jason's personal code to just leave him there. Jason admitted that hating Franco didn't even begin to cover his feelings.
Jason went off on how Franco had left Sam and Michael. Franco shouted that he'd been different then, and he'd had a tumor. Jason was sure that neither Sam nor Michael would forget what Franco had done to them, and he didn't care what Franco had to say. He slammed a desk for emphasis. "I told you you would pay. Now's the time," Jason stated. Just then, Sam called Jason's name from the doorway.
Jason told Sam to wait outside, but Franco suggested that she wait inside in order to watch Jason avenge her. Sam advised Jason that she didn't care about Franco and that Michael had made peace with the past. She admitted that she'd rather see Franco live than keep a secret about how he'd died. Franco groaned, and Jason finally agreed to rescue him. He and Sam lifted the cabinet enough for Franco to slide out. Franco thanked them, and he managed to get up and limp outside.
Jason wondered how Sam was just able to allow Franco to go, and Sam admitted she didn't know. She had accepted what had happened and moved on rather than get stuck in the past. She had learned it from Jason. She advised him that his hate for Franco couldn't exist because if something happened to Franco, Jake would be upset. She thought that one day, when Jake was old enough to understand everything, he'd be able to make his own choices.
Jason took a deep breath and agreed to try for Sam. She told him she had to get to the Floating Rib but realized she was missing a dog tag that Danny had given her for Annabelle. They searched for it among the debris. Jason found it, and Sam suggested that he hold onto it. Jason and Sam joked, but suddenly there was a jolt. Everything went crashing to the floor again.
3/7 Sam sat in the corner of the trailer that served as Jim's office as it tipped over the edge of an excavation site. Jason knocked the sliding door out of its track so they could make a quick getaway. He reached out for her, and as she reached back, the trailer tipped more. He advised her to move slowly, so she crawled slowly toward him. They finally joined hands, and he pulled her up. They jumped out of the trailer just as it fell into the excavation site. He covered her as the trailer exploded.
"I need to tell you something," Sam said suddenly. She admitted that, from the minute Jason had shown up in town, she'd known it was him, but she hadn't wanted to hurt Drew. She was happy that he was alive, and she insisted that she hadn't meant it when she'd asked him to keep his distance. Even though she knew that she wasn't supposed to be saying it, she admitted to hoping she would run into him. Sam confessed that she loved him, and she'd never stopped.
Jason and Sam held hands as he told her that he loved her. He admitted that he hadn't said it so that she wouldn't feel pressured. She lamented the mess she'd made of the situation, but Jason reminded her that the situation had been done to them, not by them. "Sam, I love you. If that's all it is, that's enough," Jason told her.
3/8 Michael ran into Jason and advised him that he'd been released. He asked Jason what had happened during the earthquake, and Jason replied, "A lot." He had just dropped Sam off to see Drew. He told Michael what had happened in the construction site trailer, and he flashed back to Sam revealing her feelings about him. Jason smiled.
Michael admitted that he still didn't trust Nelle, but he had been scared that something had happened to her and the baby during the earthquake. He asked for Jason's opinion of her, but Jason admitted that he really didn't know Nelle. Michael begged him to give an answer, as he trusted Jason more than anyone else. Michael explained that Nelle had had a tough life, and he mentioned what she had done to the family. Michael thought that Nelle would change things if she could.
Jason noted that Carly had made mistakes and knew that people could change, but she also had good instincts. Jason thought that Michael should trust Carly. Jason mentioned the name Hannah Scott, and Michael recalled that she had dated Sonny a few times. Jason said that she had been a federal agent, and Carly had sensed that something had been wrong. She had been married to A.J. at the time, but she'd tailed Hannah. Carly had been mugged and her wedding rings stolen. Jason had bought her new ones. Michael realized that that was why Carly still had those rings.
Jason wanted Michael to trust his own instincts and not to let anyone talk him out of them. Michael said that Carly was perceptive and had always said that Jason and Sam belonged together. Jason seemed thoughtful, and Michael said goodbye. Jason pulled the dog tag out of his pocket and looked at it.
Drew woke up in his hospital bed and saw Sam bending over him. She told him the kids were okay, and she had gone to look for him. She admitted she'd been with Jason, who had had his motorcycle at the Quartermaine house. They'd gone to the Floating Rib, but it had been destroyed. Drew explained how he'd ended up under the freezer door and revealed that Franco and Dante had saved him. Sam called it karma and disclosed that she and Jason had saved Franco earlier. She told Drew all about it and admitted that she was actually grateful to Franco for the first time. She insisted that she was fine.
Monica arrived and advised Drew that he could go home if he took things easy. She was thankful that he was okay and for the way he'd helped Josslyn and Oscar. Her voice cracked, and Drew wiped away a tear. He joked that a statue of him would be erected outside the Floating Rib. Monica ordered Sam to take care of Drew, and Drew stated that he and Sam did a good job of taking care of each other.
Drew and Sam were finally ready to go home, and they walked out of Drew's room. They found Jason at the nurses' station. He had wanted to leave the dog tag there for Sam, and the couple overheard him. Drew asked what it was, and Sam explained that it belonged to Danny. It had been a late-arriving Christmas gift for Annabelle Two. Jason left, and Drew asked Sam if everything was okay. She had a funny expression on her face. Sam told him that they needed to talk.
3/9 At the hospital, Sam informed Drew that they needed to talk. Noticing how serious she sounded, he suggested talking right then, but Jim interrupted them. Drew wondered if Jim was there to apologize, since Sam had almost died during the earthquake in Jim's office. He asked what she'd been there for. She replied that she'd been saving Franco, who'd been trapped in the office. Jim remarked that she had to have just missed him, as he'd somehow foggily left the office after being thrown.
Drew wondered why Franco had been at Jim's office instead of his wedding. Jim related that that was why he needed to talk to Drew. He told Drew and Sam about the memory of Franco pushing Drew down the stairs as kids and how Franco had laughed after he'd done it. Jim revealed that Betsy had sent Drew away because she'd known he would be all right on his own, while she'd wanted to try to "fix" Franco. He admitted that he'd promised Betsy that he would keep quiet about the incident, but he'd broken the promise to talk to Franco about it.
Jim claimed that Franco had threatened Jim to stay quiet, and he remembered the look in Franco's eye from when he'd been a child. He'd realized that Franco hadn't changed at all. He figured he would tell Drew because Drew probably knew what to do. When he left, Sam wondered if any memory of Drew's had been sparked. It hadn't, but Drew figured that, if Jim had told the truth, "something needs to happen." He said that he was going to "take care of it" and promised to see Sam at home. "What are you going to do?" she called after him as he walked away.
A short while later, Elizabeth bumped into Jason, who asked about Jake. She assured him that the boys were all right, and she wanted to thank him for saving Franco. He explained to her that he'd wanted to leave Franco, but Sam had convinced him not to. A dumbfounded Elizabeth wondered if he'd be sorry if she and Jake were grieving over Franco. He replied that Sam had helped him see that their grief wasn't worth it. While he couldn't change what Franco had done, all he could do was try to accept it and move on. Elizabeth put forth the possibility of redemption.
As Sam looked on, Elizabeth continued that she'd seen Franco trying to make amends daily. However, Jason remembered finding Michael in his cell after being raped by the man that Franco had sent after him. He remembered being locked in a room, watching a live feed of Franco carrying a drugged Sam into bed. He refused to consider redemption, and he trusted that Franco would one day get what he deserved. A shocked Elizabeth walked away in tears.
Sam asked Jason if everything was all right. Jason explained that he and Elizabeth just saw Franco in different ways. "Isn't it enough that you saved his life?" Sam wondered, but Jason reminded her that she was the one who had argued for Franco's life. Thinking more about the night, she confided that she still hadn't told Drew that she still loved Jason. Peering around the corner, Elizabeth couldn't believe what she'd heard.
3/12 Out in the hallway, Jason and Sam talked. Elizabeth saw them together and hid around the corner, eavesdropping. Sam admitted that she hadn't told Drew that she loved Jason, but Jason assured her that she didn't have to do anything. Sam disagreed. She had been lying to her husband, but she was confused. She didn't want to hurt anyone. Jason urged Sam to trust herself and do what was right, which included doing nothing at all. He advised her to take care of herself and the kids and to call him if she needed anything. He left, and Elizabeth scurried away. Sam spotted her and called out to her.
Elizabeth jumped and said that she had been startled. Sam apologized, and Elizabeth thanked her for helping to save Franco. Sam retorted that she should have left him, and Elizabeth was shocked. Sam explained that Jim Harvey had told Drew the truth about Franco, who had tried to kill Drew when they'd been children. Franco had resented Drew and had pushed him down the stairs. Drew had been left at an orphanage for his own protection. Elizabeth was certain that Franco would have told her if it were true.
Sam added that Franco had gone to see Harvey to tell him to keep his mouth shut instead of going to his own wedding. Elizabeth snapped that Sam had no room to talk about honesty. Sam admitted she'd both lied and kept her "fair share" of secrets but both she and Elizabeth had done that. Elizabeth pointed out that Franco had had a brain tumor, but Sam quickly dismissed that he'd had it when he'd been four years old. Elizabeth insisted that Franco had changed. In Sam's opinion, no one had lied to Elizabeth more than Elizabeth had lied to herself. Elizabeth was disgusted and walked away angrily. Sam waited for an elevator and thought back to her conversation with Jason when they had declared their love for each other. She stepped onto the elevator when it arrived.
Jason arrived to visit with Carly, and he could see that she'd been crying. She told him about the situation with Mike and the fact that he'd forgotten that Morgan was dead. She said that Sonny was angry, and Jason explained that it was easier than being sad. Carly added that it was killing Sonny that Mike would lose all of his memories, but Jason was sure that Carly could get Sonny through it. He hugged her. Carly announced that she needed a distraction, and she asked him what had happened during the earthquake.
Carly revealed that she had been stuck in the gallery with Nelle, who had stolen a dress for Josslyn, and she'd wanted to tell Nelle off. Jason noted that Nelle had mentioned that Carly had helped her. Carly admitted that she had only calmed Nelle down and given her a bottle of water, but Carly still hated her. Jason disclosed that he'd saved Franco, but it didn't mean that Jason "hated him any less." Jason told Carly all about what had happened at the trailer. Franco would have been dead if he'd left him like he'd wanted to. He admitted that Sam had talked him out of it.
Carly was excited to hear as Jason explained that they'd barely gotten out of the trailer alive. "Did she say it?" Carly wanted to know. "Say what?" Jason asked. He finally admitted that Sam had expressed her love, and he'd done so, too. Carly was ecstatic. "You were right, Carly," Jason said. It didn't mean that he and Sam would be together, though. Carly thought that they could figure it out later.
3/14 In Drew's office, Sam called Drew and wondered where he was. "Dealing with Franco," Drew replied. She wondered when he'd be back. He only promised to call her later, and he hung up. There was a knock on Drew's office door, and Jason entered. He was there to update Drew on the search for Henrik. He revealed that he was traveling to Europe with a list of banks that Faison had done business with in hopes of finding the criminal's safe deposit box. She wondered if he was going to Europe for information or because he thought that she needed space. "Both," he answered honestly.
Sam confessed that Jason returning was the "greatest gift" she could have received, and she was having a hard time living in denial about it. He advised her to take time to figure out her feelings. She thought that her first order of business was to be honest with Drew. As Peter listened from the hall, Jason thought that, if there was a safe with information about Henrik, he was "sure as hell gonna find it."
Peter entered the office and asked Sam for the contact information for all of Aurora's major advertisers. She walked away to get the file. Peter admitted that he had overheard Jason and Sam's conversation about Henrik and related that it would be a huge story for Aurora. Jason divulged that he had some leads to go on. Sam returned and gave the file to Peter. He wished Jason luck and left.
Jason made sure that Sam was physically all right after the earthquake. She revealed that going through that had helped clarify life. She needed to figure out what she wanted to do, and Jason assured her that there was no rush. He added that he wanted the best for Sam, "whatever that turns out to be." They wished each other luck, and he left.
3/15 In Drew's office at Aurora, Sam attempted to reach Drew several times on the phone, without luck. She was worried but was momentarily distracted when Alexis showed up to report on Molly's progress. The young woman had been ordered to be still to allow her broken rib to heal, but she hadn't been staying still, Alexis complained. Alexis wondered why Sam was in Drew's office.
Sam told Alexis that Franco and Drew had known Harvey when they'd been kids, and she revealed all that Harvey had said about Franco pushing Drew down the stairs. Sam only knew that Drew had been headed to see Franco, and he was missing. She admitted that she wouldn't have been so concerned about Jason if he'd been in the same spot. Sam also disclosed that she hadn't been honest with herself or anyone else.
Sam told her mother what had happened at the trailer and how she'd spent time with Jason. Alexis' first response was to hope that Sam hadn't slept with Jason. Sam quickly assured her mother that she hadn't. Alexis also reminded Sam that she had two children, and she had always done things with Jason that had turned out to be dangerous. Sam admitted she'd told Jason she loved him. She actually loved both Jason and Drew, and she cried that she didn't know what to do. She had to tell Drew but had no idea how he would react. She grabbed her coat and left.
3/16 Elizabeth questioned why Sam was so anxious to find Franco. Sam explained that Drew was missing and that she believed Franco was somehow involved in the disappearance. Sam then vowed that if Franco had done anything to Drew, she would take Franco out herself. Elizabeth questioned why Sam would think that Franco would do anything to harm Drew. "Because he's Franco," Sam replied. Elizabeth insisted that she cared for Drew, adding "probably more than you do." Sam was outraged at the comment and demanded an explanation.
Elizabeth recalled Sam telling Jason that she hadn't yet told Drew that she was still in love with Jason. To Sam, Elizabeth claimed that she'd meant that she wanted to help but that Sam was complicating things. Sam apologized before telling Elizabeth that Drew had not returned home the night before and that she couldn't find him. Elizabeth asked if Sam had checked to see if Drew had checked into the hospital. Sam said she'd already asked Epiphany, and Drew was not answering his phone. When asked why Sam thought Franco was involved, Sam explained that when she'd last spoken to Drew, Drew had said that he was "dealing with Franco."
Elizabeth admitted that she hadn't seen Franco, but she didn't expect to see him because they had gotten into a fight. She assumed that Franco would be holed up in his studio. The two women bickered over who might be in more danger, Franco or Drew, before Elizabeth started to walk away. Sam called out to Elizabeth, who turned and told Sam that she didn't care who went after whom… she wanted to find Drew and Franco.
Elizabeth and Sam arrived at the police station to talk to Jordan, but she brushed them off because she was busy. When the two women said that Drew and Franco were missing, they captured Jordan's attention. Sam and Elizabeth were light on details but said they know that Jim Harvey had told Drew about "some sort of an incident" that had happened between Drew and Franco when they'd been kids. Jordan wondered how Jim Harvey was connected to Drew and Franco. The only way to find that out, Sam said, would be to locate Franco and Drew.
Jordan said that she could not waste the department's resources on two men that had only been missing for a few hours. Jordan did, however, have advice for Sam and Elizabeth: they should watch out for Jim Harvey and not believe a word out of his mouth. After Jordan walked away, Sam and Elizabeth exchanged worried looks. Sam hinted that she'd felt something wasn't quite right with Jim Harvey's story but admitted that she'd been too distracted by other matters to give it any thought.
Sam started to walk off, but Elizabeth announced that she was going with Sam. Sam shot her down, saying that she worked alone. "You don't have to like it, but we're on the same side," Elizabeth countered. Sam grudgingly accepted Elizabeth's help but said that once they found Franco and Drew, Elizabeth was on her own.
3/19 Anna met with Jason at the Metro Court bar. Jason said he'd do whatever it took to find Henrik. He gave Anna the manuscript written by P.K. Sinclair. Anna wanted to know where Jason had found the manuscript. Jason told her he'd found it in a fireplace in a hotel suite where Britt Westbourne had been staying with Faison. Britt had said it had shown up one day and that it had shaken Faison. Jason guessed that Faison had tried to burn it on his way out the door. Anna said it was very arrogant and ego-driven that the publishing house had the right to Faison's favorite non de plume.
Jason said especially if Henrik had written the manuscript. Anna agreed that Faison would've loathed the fact that he'd been upstaged by his own son. Since Faison was no longer a threat, she wanted to read the manuscript, page by page. Jason said that Spinelli had run the manuscript through a program, which had predicted the ending. If Anna wanted a copy of it, he'd ask Spinelli to send it to her. Anna declined because she needed to read the author's original words. She was certain it would lead her to Henrik.
Jason wanted to know exactly what Anna hoped to find. Anna said she was looking for clues to see if Henrik was anything like his father. Jason knew that Faison never left a trail. He and Sonny had located Faison because they'd traced Obrecht's phone call. Anna said that Faison had never been as cautious as he'd implied and had always made references to things he'd done or had wanted to do.
Anna said that if Henrik followed that formula, then it was possible that there was a message inside the manuscript intended to lead Faison to his son. Jason commented that Anna might have known Faison, but Henrik was a completely different person. He wanted to know why Anna was so invested in finding Henrik. Anna claimed she needed to debrief Henrik about his father's disease. Jason said it seemed like it was more than that. Anna said that Faison's autopsy had revealed that he'd had a degenerative brain disorder, a condition that was genetic, and any child of his had a 50/50 chance of inheriting it. She felt that Henrik needed to be told. Jason asked why it was her job to do that.
Anna promised that she wasn't holding back any information from Jason that would impede his search for Henrik. She hoped they'd continue working together. Anna asked Jason to trust her reasons, and Jason agreed to do that. Jason knew it was very personal for Anna, and he hoped the manuscript helped her find what she was looking for.
Sam and Elizabeth paid Ned a visit at the Quartermaine mansion. They told Ned that Franco and Drew were missing, and the police wouldn't help to find them because they'd been dealing with the earthquake. Ned defended Jordan's stand on the matter. He said that Jordan couldn't divert her disaster relief efforts to help them find Franco and Drew. Sam said that they had tried to contact Jim Harvey, but the calls had gone to voicemail. Sam asked if Ned knew how to reach Jim because she and Elizabeth knew that Jim was Ned's friend.
Ned snapped that Jim wasn't his friend. Elizabeth claimed that Jim had been one of Ned's biggest supporters, and they wondered if there had been a rift between Ned and Jim. Ned said that it wasn't a secret that Ned had favored option A and that Jim had supported his campaign, but the earthquake had become a sore subject. Ned told Sam that Jim had been staying at a motel on route 31, in room 304.
Sam and Elizabeth paid Jim a visit. They told him that they'd been looking for Franco and Drew. Jim claimed he hadn't seen them. Elizabeth said that Franco and Drew had learned something recently, and they might have gone to see him. Sam reminded Jim that Franco had threated Jim to keep his mouth shut and added that he'd done worse to Drew. Sam offered her phone number to Jim in case he heard from Franco or Drew. Jim grabbed the map off his desk and said that it was proprietary information. Sam was about to write down her phone number when she saw something on the floor and bent down to retrieve it.
While Sam wrote down her phone number, Elizabeth told Jim that Franco wouldn't hurt Drew. Jim said that Franco had hurt Drew in the past, and she had something to be concerned about. He said that before the earthquake, Franco had been in a rage. Jim wouldn't be surprised if Franco had hurt Drew again. Sam gave Jim her phone number. Jim was sorry he couldn't help them. Sam practically pushed Elizabeth out of Jim's room, and after Jim closed his door, Sam showed Drew's wedding ring to Elizabeth. They knew that Franco and Drew had been there and that Jim had lied.
In his room, Jim was on the phone and said that too many people had caught on to what they'd been doing. He told the goon to take care of Franco and Drew.
3/20 Outside Jim Harvey's hotel room, Sam showed Drew's wedding band to Elizabeth. Elizabeth realized that Jim had lied about not seeing Drew, so Sam asked Elizabeth to take the ring to Jordan because it was proof that Drew had been in Jim's hotel room. Sam intended to remain behind to keep a close eye on Jim until Drew was found. After Elizabeth left, Sam sneaked onto Jim's balcony as Jim spoke on the phone.
When Jim left his room, Sam rounded the corner and made quick work of picking Jim's lock then slipped into his room. Sam sifted through the paperwork on his desk until she found a contract to seal off a foundation at a warehouse for later that day. Sam sent Elizabeth a text message then snapped photographs of the contract and Jim's plans.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth received a text message from Sam asking Elizabeth to return to the hotel because Sam had found something in Jim's hotel room.
At the hotel, Jim returned to his room, but Elizabeth called out to him before he entered. Sam quietly restored order to the desk then silently left by way of the balcony. In the hallway, Elizabeth claimed that Jim's earlier warning about Franco had made her realize that perhaps she hadn't known Franco, after all. She asked if Jim really believed that Franco would kill Drew, so Jim feigned regret as he admitted that men would go to surprising lengths to hide their secrets.
Elizabeth saw Sam signal from down the hall, so Elizabeth thanked Jim for telling her what she had needed to hear. After Jim entered his room, Sam ran to Elizabeth and shared with her what she had found. Sam was certain that Drew and Franco were at the warehouse.
3/21 Outside Jim's hotel room, Elizabeth thanked Jim for opening her eyes about Franco. He invited her into his room to continue their discussion, but Elizabeth admitted that she needed to be alone. After Jim disappeared into his hotel room, Sam stepped out of hiding and raced over to Elizabeth to show her the contract to pour concrete that she had found. Sam was certain that Drew and Franco were locked in the warehouse's basement.
A short time later, Elizabeth and Sam arrived at the construction site, but the construction crew had left. Sam was horrified when she realized that the concrete had been poured, so she pulled out her phone and called 911. Sam reported that two men were trapped in the basement at a construction site and that she could hear them calling for help.
Sam implored the operator to send the fire department and ambulances. Elizabeth and Sam anxiously waited until help arrived, but their hopes were dashed when they were told that a rescue attempt was impossible, it would be a recovery mission that would take time because they had to drill through the concrete. Elizabeth and Sam entered the squad room to ask for Chase's help mounting a rescue attempt for Franco and Drew. Chase looked past the ladies then told them that it wouldn't be necessary. Elizabeth and Sam turned and were relieved when they saw Franco and Drew. Sam ran to Drew as Elizabeth ran to Franco.
After the couples kissed, Drew and Franco filled everyone in on how Jim had imprisoned them and about their escape through a sewage line. Chase was curious why Jim had wanted both men dead. Drew admitted that it had something to do with the past, but he was careful not to share the details. Elizabeth and Sam decided to take Franco and Drew to the hospital to be checked out, so Drew asked for a private word with Franco.
3/22 At the hospital, Finn approached Sam and Elizabeth. He assured both women that Drew and Franco were fine, but he had prescribed the men antibiotics and given each a tetanus shot as a preventative measure because Drew and Franco had crawled through the sewage system. Sam and Elizabeth were grateful when they saw Drew and Franco walk up.
At the hospital, Elizabeth warned Franco and Drew that Jim Harvey remained a fugitive at large, but she promised that the police were eager to capture him especially in light of the additional charges. Sam was curious why Jim would kidnap Betsy and try to kill both Drew and Franco. Drew carefully explained that it went back to when Drew and Franco had been children and Jim had dated Betsy. Elizabeth wondered what kind of secret would drive someone to do the things that Jim had.
Franco admitted that it was something horrible, but Drew added that they weren't quite clear on the details because Jim's version of the events had been a lie. Drew explained that he and Franco had suspected that Jim knew where Betsy was, so Drew and Franco had hatched a plan to plant a bug in Jim's hotel room. Franco took over the tale and was careful not to mention the traumatized state that Drew had found him in when Drew had entered Jim's hotel room.
After the men walked away, Elizabeth remarked that at least they knew that Franco hadn't wanted to hurt Drew. "Do we?" Sam asked. Sam was taken aback when Elizabeth suggested that Sam was the one who would hurt Drew. She was tired of Elizabeth's cryptic remarks, so she invited Elizabeth to speak her mind. Elizabeth saw how desperate Sam had been to find Drew, and she'd been there when Sam had found Drew's wedding ring. "But it's not a secret that Jason is waiting for you," Elizabeth said.
At the penthouse, Drew and Sam entered the living room after getting the children settled down. They sat on the sofa and talked about Jim Harvey. Drew confided to Sam that something had gone wrong in Jim's hotel room, and he had walked in on Franco curled up in a ball and completely incapacitated. Drew admitted that Jim's men had gotten the jump on him because he'd been distracted with concern for Franco.
Drew explained that something had clearly happened to Franco as a kid, but Drew had no idea if he had witnessed it or if he'd been a part of it. However, Jim was at the center of it, and Jim was so freaked out about it that he'd been willing to kidnap and kill to keep it buried. Drew regretted that he hadn't communicated better with Sam.
Sam's eyes filled with tears as she assured him that he had nothing to be sorry for, but Drew disagreed. He held up his hand and revealed that he'd lost his wedding band somewhere along the way. Sam quickly fetched the ring and slid it onto his finger as she told him how she had found it and how she had figured out where Jim had taken Drew and Franco. Drew smiled and kissed his wife because everything was right again. Sam pulled away from the kiss then tearfully confessed that they needed to talk.
3/23 Michael greeted Jason at the Metro Court, then excused himself because Michael had to get to a meeting. After Michael left, Carly told Jason that Michael had moved out of the Quartermaine mansion and away from Nelle.
"Now, Sam just needs to admit that she belongs with you, and all will be right in my world," Carly declared. Jason sighed with exasperation, but Carly reminded him that Sam had recently admitted that she had feelings for him. Jason asked Carly to drop it because Sam needed space to figure things out.
Jason and Spinelli sat at the bar. Spinelli set his briefcase down then revealed that he had devised a more effective way to get into Faison's safe deposit box that didn't involve breaking into a bank, Spinelli would pose as Henrik Faison. Stunned, Jason asked how Spinelli intended to pull off the daring deception?
This prompts Spinelli to adopt a Swiss accent as he retrieved a copy of Faison's death certificate, a forged birth certificate for Henrik, and a signed copy of Faison's will from his briefcase. Jason insisted on accompanying Spinelli to Europe, but Spinelli was adamant that Jason stay behind to provide a strong shoulder should "the fair Samantha" need one.
"And, I suspect she will," Spinelli quietly admitted. Jason confided that Sam had been so busy taking care of everyone that she had forgotten to take care of herself. Spinelli nodded in understanding because it was a common thing for mothers to do. Jason agreed, but he explained that Sam needed time and space to sort things out for herself.
Sam tearfully told Drew that they needed to talk. Concerned, Drew asked her what was wrong. Sam admitted that her first impulse had been to wait, but she'd done too much of that lately, which had made things worse. Drew realized that Sam was genuinely distraught and assured her that she could tell him anything. "I have feelings for Jason," Sam quietly confessed. She began to cry as Drew asked her to explain.
"I still love him," Sam admitted. Stunned, Drew pulled back from Sam, but she rushed to assure him that she loved Drew, too. Sam promised that the love she and Drew shared was real, and it was painful for her to tell him that she loved both Drew and Jason, but Drew was left reeling. He wanted to know why they had gotten married if she was still in love with his brother.
Sam promised that she had married Drew because she was in love with him and that hadn't changed. Drew disagreed, but Sam insisted that they had built an amazing life with the children, and she desperately wanted to hold onto that. Sam realized that she should have acknowledged her feelings from the start, but she promised Drew that she had meant their vows.
However, Sam could no longer commit herself to Drew until she figured out who she was. Drew was devastated because he'd thought what they'd had had been real. Sam realized that she had handled things in the worst possible way, but she promised Drew that it was real. Sam wished that she could make things okay for everyone, but she couldn't until she figured out who she was and learned to trust herself again.
Dvd #37B 3/23 Carly entered the restaurant as the alarm stopped blaring. She explained to Jason and Spinelli that it appeared to have been false alarm. After her security guard reported that they'd been given the all-clear, Carly admitted that it had been a "weird" day. Concerned, Jason asked if something else had happened. Carly told Jason and Spinelli about the scarf she had found in her office then took them to her office to show them the unsettling item. She was stunned when she discovered that the scarf had vanished.
Rattled, Carly assured Jason that the scarf had been in her office when she had left, and that the door automatically locked when it closed. "First the phone calls, and now this," Carly muttered as she paced around her office. Spinelli was curious what Carly was talking about, so Jason filled him in about the strange phone calls that Carly had received from a phone booth located at the bottom of the cliff where Morgan had died.
Carly was certain that someone was trying to freak her out, but Jason cautioned her not to jump to conclusions. Sam cried as she grabbed his hand and reminded him that he had promised that he would always be there for her if she needed him. Drew looked at his wedding band and told her how frantic he'd been when he'd lost his ring. It had been all that had mattered to him, but he realized that, like everything else, it hadn't been real.
Drew demanded to know how far things had gone between Sam and Jason. Sam was hurt by the question, but she admitted that she and Jason had kissed on New Year's Eve. Drew wasn't surprised because he had sensed that he had walked in on something when he had arrived on the boat. Sam was filled with remorse and assured Drew that she had known as soon as it had started that the kiss had been a mistake.
Drew was crushed because he'd thought what he and Sam had shared had been enough for her, but he had been wrong. Sam wept when she realized that Drew planned to leave her. Sam begged Drew to stay, but Drew admitted that it would be too painful to stay while she figured things out, knowing that she loved his brother. Drew told her that she might be able to love two people at the same time, but he only loved her. Sam insisted that it had been real and reminded him that they shared a beautiful daughter. Drew assured Sam that Scout would always be his daughter, but he couldn't stay. Sam was heartbroken as she watched Drew slide the ring off, set it on the desk, and walk out.
3/26 Jason walked into Carly's office at Metro Court and began to talk about Spinelli and his plan. As he continued to talk, he realized that Carly hadn't been listening. She was looking at Morgan's photo and shaking her head. Carly explained again about the scarf she'd found on her desk that had been just like Morgan's. The dirtied and blood-stained scarf had been gone when she'd returned to her office after the fire alarm had gone off. Jason asked her questions about the scarf and the security cameras in the hotel. Carly admitted that there were no cameras close to her office.
Carly and Jason viewed the footage of the cameras closest to the administrative area with the help of security, but Carly recognized all of her employees. There was no camera in the stairwell, and she was not about to question all of her guests. Carly admitted that between the scarf on her desk and the mysterious calls from the pay phone, it made her think that Morgan was still around.
Jason thought that perhaps Carly had been fantasizing about Morgan because Mike had mentioned him. Carly revealed that she always thought about Morgan and always pictured him there. She began to laugh and cry as she talked about her son, and she admitted that she wouldn't go into his room in her second house. Carly noted that her son was gone, but she was a mom and still hoped that he would return home. She fell into Jason's arms, weeping.
Jason assured Carly that they would figure things out. He had work to do for Sonny, and Carly sent him on his way. She pleaded with Jason not to tell Sonny because he had his own problems with Mike. She thought that if everything was okay with Sonny's business relationships, then nothing was dangerous, and he didn't need to know.
Alexis paid Sam a visit and babbled about her anxiety over Finn. She suddenly realized that Sam wasn't paying attention, and she could tell that something was wrong. "Drew left me," Sam replied. She told Alexis what had happened after she'd found Drew's wedding ring and put it back on his finger. He had kissed her, she'd cried, and then she'd told him that she still loved Jason while loving Drew at the same time. Sam said that Drew had believed the second part, but he'd left.
Alexis hugged and reassured a crying Sam that she'd done the right thing because the truth was always better. Sam said it was painful, and she had no idea if Drew would return home. Alexis was certain that it wasn't the end, and there would be more to talk about. She asked what Sam would say to Jason because Alexis was certain that Jason would show up after he heard that Sam and Drew had split.
Sam knew that she had to take the time to get over it and learn to trust and rely on herself. She did know that she didn't want to lean on Jason. Sam wanted to be alone to figure things out. She thought that maybe she shouldn't be with either of the men. Alexis hugged her and told her that she was brave and had made a tough decision. She thought that Sam had set a good example for her daughter, her sisters, and Alexis.
Sam assured her mother that what she saw in Jason was not the same as what Alexis saw in Julian. Alexis quickly reminded her that they weren't talking about Julian. She thought it was not good for Sam to be with Jason if she was having doubts. Alexis said she didn't hate Jason, only what he did for a living. She urged Sam to trust her instincts.
3/27 Sam wandered the penthouse aimlessly, thinking back to her conversations with both Drew and Jason. She stared out of the window until she heard a knock at the front door. It was Curtis, who told her that Drew was not okay and had been drinking. Drew had told Curtis that he and Sam were over because she was in love with Jason. Curtis and Sam sat down.
Sam confessed that she felt guilty for choices she'd made. When Jason had first returned to town, she had known he was the real Jason, but she had loved Drew and had lied to protect him. She had continued to lie, but she had to be honest to set a good example for her kids. Curtis announced that Drew would stay at his place, especially since Curtis usually stayed with Jordan. He wanted some of Drew's things. Sam thought that Drew was lucky to have a friend like Curtis, and she went upstairs to retrieve some clothing.
Sam returned with clothing and accessories and noted that there was nothing left that Drew would want to see except their daughter. Curtis thought that it was too soon to be making any decisions but admitted that no one liked to hear that their love was in love with a hated brother. Drew's pride had been hurt. Curtis wondered if Sam had attempted to contact Drew, and she confessed that she hadn't. Curtis thought it was a good idea to "chill" and allow Drew to reach out first.
Drew and Jason saw each other at the dock. Sarcastically, Drew stated that he couldn't get away from Jason, who mentioned that he was there to do a job for Sonny. He offered to move his spot, and Drew accused him of being good at running. "Looks like you got Sam back," Drew snarled. Drew proceeded to talk about all of Jason's memories that were in his own head. He was aware of how Jason always put Sonny ahead of Sam, left her alone, and hurt her. "Who knows that better than me?" Drew asked.
Drew informed Jason that Sam had tried to kill Sonny because she had thought that she could break Sonny's hold over Jason. Drew had chosen Sam over Sonny, but he saw that Jason was back to drag Sam into everything that she feared. Jason denied it but said that it was best that Drew and Sam were done. He accused Drew of treating Sam like he owned her. Drew insisted that Jason was the one who hurt Sam, and Jason thought that it was okay if Sam didn't look at him as long as she was free of Drew, who then slugged Jason. The brothers began to fight.
Back at Sam's place, a contemplative Curtis noted that anger faded, and pain was a bitch but would be manageable. He suggested that Sam look at the good times and eventually let go and smile. He'd had his own past with a broken heart but had seen himself through it. Just then, Sam received a phone call. It was from the police station, and she was advised that her husband was in custody for assault and battery and disturbing the peace.
Sam arrived at the police station and paid the fine to have Drew released. The cop at the desk informed her there had been a fight, and both men were in custody. Sam offered to pay the fine for the other guy. Curtis arrived and announced that Sam's sister was staying with the kids. He offered to take over for Sam, but she refused. Drew was led out in handcuffs. His face was bruised.
The cop removed the cuffs and announced that the incident was still open. Another arrest could result in criminal charges. The lawyer for the other guy had paid the fine. Curtis advised Drew that Drew was staying with him, and he spoke over Drew, who wanted to refuse. Jordan walked up to the group and advised Drew not to let it happen again. Drew roughly brushed past Sam on his way out. A tearful Sam asked for the name of the other man, and just then, Jason walked out. He, too, was in cuffs with a bruised face.
3/28 At the police station, Jason and Sam stood together awkwardly. He asked if she wanted to sit, and Sam agreed. They walked over to a bench. Jason didn't want to make things worse, but Sam insisted that it wasn't possible. She blamed herself for everything that had happened and knew that she had to find out about herself. She was feeling lost and scared, although she felt that she'd made the right decision. She was afraid that she'd end up without either Drew or Jason but would have to live with it.
"Life is crazy," Sam said. A few months before, she'd been happily married, but at that moment, Drew hated her. Jason didn't think that was true. Sam clarified that Drew wasn't happy, and she'd have to accept it. Jason admitted that he had always accepted things easily, but he still had his feelings for Sam and wanted to be with her.
He would accept whatever happened because he felt it was about Sam and not him. He suggested she figure out what she wanted and needed. Sam thought that she needed to get away from Jason, Drew, and Port Charles, and she hoped that it was okay with both of the men that she took the kids.
Jason agreed that taking Danny away was okay. Sam wished she could tell Jason what he wanted to hear, but she couldn't do that. Jason understood. Sam related that she had done something awful to herself and Drew, and she didn't want to do it to Jason too. Jason asked Sam if she wanted a coffee but he was afraid that if he got up, she wouldn't be there when he got back. Sam assured him that she wasn't going anywhere yet.
Jason returned with two cups of coffee and sat back down. Sam wondered what he was thinking, and Jason just wanted Sam to find herself, even if it meant they wouldn't be together. He added that he would miss her, but he'd be okay. He only wanted her to be with him if she was "all in." Jason recalled hurting Sam in the past, and it was something that he would always regret. He would never do it again.
Sam thought it was time to leave and declined Jason's offer to walk her out. "This is it," she said. Part of her life would be over once she got up. Jason reminded her that it was her life and choice, and there was no time limit on it. They joked about Jason finishing his coffee, and Sam asked how he'd been able to drink it. He explained that sometimes one had to force oneself to do things. Sam finished her coffee and tossed both cups into the nearby waste basket. She suddenly recalled that the police station's interrogation room was the first place they had met each other, and she called it the "luckiest day of my life." They both flashed back to that moment. Sam sighed, rose, and walked out.
3/29 At Metro Court, Jason asked Anna if she'd found anything in the P.K. Sinclair manuscript. She thought that the protagonist of the book had left a trail of clues, including descriptions of his Swiss boarding school. She thought that she could cross reference the school with Henrik's birthday. Jason told her about Spinelli's plan to pass himself off as Henrik to gain access to Faison's safe deposit boxes. Anna was worried at first but then realized that if anyone could pull it off, it would be Spinelli.
Anna asked how Jason intended to approach Henrik. "With a gun," Jason answered quickly. They argued over Henrik's intentions and the circumstances surrounding his upbringing. Anna erred on the side of empathy for having grown up under the thumb of a "tyrant" like Faison, and she reminded Jason that Henrik had kept him alive against Faison's orders. Jason countered that he'd probably still be at the clinic had he not escaped, and he added that the goons had followed him from Russia.
Anna thought Henrik had already paid a steep price by being Faison's son. However, Jason suggested that Henrik might pick up where Faison had left off. Griffin entered and listened in on the conversation, unseen. Jason believed that they needed to assume that Henrik was a threat that needed to be stopped. Anna wondered if Jason really meant that Henrik needed to be eliminated. "Whatever it takes," he answered.
3/30 Jason remarked how many memories there were for him at Luke's, but Carly reminded him that Luke had blackmailed her to stay away from the club. She understood that Luke had only been trying to protect his sister from the "conniving wench" Carly had been. "Until Michael was born," she added. Jason flashed back to Bobbie instructing him on how to hold a newborn Michael. The two looked at a fully grown Michael with pride and agreed that "time flies."
Olivia took the stage and welcomed everyone to Luke's. She thanked Mike for showing everyone a great time, and the crowd erupted in applause. "For one night only, Eddie Maine!" she announced, and Ned and his band took the stage. They played "Love Has the Last Word," and the crowd loved it. During the song, Bobbie and Maxie sneaked in unseen. Sonny and Mike exchanged a meaningful look, and Sonny patted his chest. When the song was over, Eddie Maine received an impressive ovation.
Jason thanked Monica for attending the party. Even though she didn't see herself becoming friends with Sonny, she thought that Mike was a good man. She knew that it wasn't good to live in the past, but revisiting it was good "every once in a while." Jason apologized for never letting Monica tell him anything about his past.
Monica remembered being in "bad trouble" and having Jason, the one everyone thought had turned on the family, bail her out. She flashed back to trying to shoot someone, but Jason had talked her down and gotten the gun from her. She revealed that that had been the moment she'd realized that he loved her. "Of course, I love you. You're my mom," he replied, and they embraced.
4/2 Drew was surprised when Sam knocked on his office door and announced that she was there to say goodbye. She explained that she was leaving for at least a few days in order to figure things out. She was taking Danny and wanted Drew's permission to take Scout along too. Drew wanted to know if Jason would be accompanying them, but Sam assured him that she was going alone.
Drew agreed that Sam could take Scout, and he noted that they had a lot to talk about. They had to make decisions about everything they had worked to build. Sam agreed, and she mentioned Scout's custody. Both she and Drew agreed that they didn't want to argue about that, and he realized that there wasn't much to talk about, after all. Sam reminded him that their company belonged to both of them.
Drew suggested that they still work together, but Sam replied that she wasn't ready to make any decisions. Drew grabbed her hand as she stood at his desk, and she told him it was time for her to catch her plane. "Be safe," Drew said. "You, too," Sam replied as she lovingly touched the side of his face.
Spinelli met with Jason at Kelly's and handed him a brown envelope. He informed Jason that Georgie had gone back home to Ellie, and he was ready for his trip to try to get into Faison's safe deposit box. He hoped that he could enable Drew to get his memory back and Sam to "follow her heart." Jason announced that that had already happened, and Sam and Drew had broken up.
He filled Spinelli in on all that had happened after the earthquake. Spinelli wondered if Sam had confessed her love, and Jason replied that Sam admitted to loving both Jason and Drew. Jason also told him about getting into a fight with Drew at the docks. Spinelli insisted that he'd never seen Jason fight unless someone else had thrown the first punch. Jason also revealed that he had spoken to Sam at the police station afterward, and she had planned on taking her kids on a trip in order to make decisions and learn about herself. Spinelli had to leave and mentioned his "contingency plan" that was contained in the envelope.
Later, Lulu sat at the counter in Kelly's, and Jason joined her. They spoke briefly about the Luke's Place event, and Jason spied the Sinclair book. Lulu mentioned that it was an advance copy that she'd borrowed from Peter. Jason confessed that he'd read the unfinished manuscript that had been about a man who had been with a cruel father and was out for revenge. He thought it sounded like Henrik.
Lulu revealed that that the publisher had claimed to have had no contact with Sinclair, but she figured he would have to be paid, and she thought they should follow the money. Jason turned the pages of the book and noticed that there was an epilogue. The writer had ended the book by saying that all that was left of his father was him and a lighter. He would have to burn his own life just like his father's.
4/3 Jason entered the hospital and found Finn. He wanted to ask Finn a few questions about the night Faison had died, but Finn replied that he'd transferred Faison's care once he'd been admitted to the hospital. Jason wondered if Finn had noticed anything out of the ordinary around Faison. "Besides kicking you out of the room?" Finn answered. He made sure that Jason's digging for answers wouldn't affect Anna. He continued that only he and Cindy, the nurse, had been around Faison. Jason asked about Faison's personal effects. Finn answered that Cindy was known for being "by the book," so they'd probably followed Faison to his room. He concluded that whoever had taken over for Finn probably had more insight, and he walked away.
On his way out, Jason bumped into Elizabeth, who wondered why Jason was there. He updated her on his conversation with Finn, and Elizabeth offered to contact someone who would know about the whereabouts of Faison's personal effects. Elizabeth sent off a quick text, and Jason turned to leave. Elizabeth stopped Jason from leaving and informed him that Franco had moved out. He refused to offer her any sympathy and informed her that his stance on Franco would never change. He just hoped that, whatever happened, Elizabeth would be all right. Elizabeth responded that she'd just reluctantly separated from the person she loved, so she wasn't all right.
Elizabeth reminded Jason of the joy and love that Franco and Jake shared, and she expressed her frustration that Jason refused to try to understand it. She believed that love was "precious," no matter who it was from or when it was given, just like how Sam shouldn't love Jason but did. She admitted that she'd overheard their conversation.
He informed Elizabeth that Sam was taking time to figure things out for herself, and Elizabeth got defensive about Jason insinuating that she do the same. "I don't need you to tell me to figure out who I am or who to love, because I know both answers," she said. As Jason turned to leave, Elizabeth's phone went off. She told him that Anna had gotten Faison's personal effects, and Jason left.
4/4 Jason sat down next to Anna at the Metro Court bar, and she wondered what he wanted. He wanted to know if she was keeping something from him about the night Faison had died. She acknowledged that, while they wanted different outcomes, they had the same objective.
Jason showed her the copy of The Severed Branch and informed her that it had a complete ending. He pulled the book away from her and asked what had happened to Faison's personal effects. She informed him that she'd tried to give them to Liesl for Britt, but they'd ended up with the WSB. Jason gave the book to Anna and pointed out the last line, which mentioned that the protagonist had taken his father's lighter as a souvenir.
Anna told Jason that there had been no lighter in Faison's things, which meant that they would find Henrik if they found the lighter. They agreed that they needed to speak to Peter and Finn, and that they needed to leave Maxie out of it. Anna noticed what Jason had thought was a dedication, but she realized that it was an epigraph. Anna explained that an epigraph was part of a lyric or poem that gave the reader a sense of the theme or purpose of a book.
She read, "for if the rot comes from both ends, together the branches must be severed." Jason offered to have Spinelli research the origin of the quote, but Anna didn't think it was necessary. She believed that the quote was a "mission statement," meaning that Henrik was "coming for his mother next." Peter entered the bar and saw Anna and Jason together.
4/6 At Sonny's house, Jason informed his boss that he might have to go out of town in order to help Spinelli. Carly walked in and was surprised to see Jason. She announced that she had to go to her other house to see an inspector about the earthquake damage. Sonny headed upstairs, and Carly asked Jason about Sam. Jason revealed that Sam had gone out of town with her kids to be alone and think. Carly was annoyed and declared that Sam and Jason had been apart enough. Jason stressed that Sam might decide that she didn't want a relationship, though he was happy that she was away from Drew.
Jason deemed Sam "not herself with him," and he felt like Sam was always waiting for Drew's approval. He would be okay with any decision that Sam made. He demanded that Carly not interfere, and he wanted her to promise. Carly agreed, but she looked forward to Jason telling her that she had been right when Sam returned to him. Her phone rang, and she had to leave.
Sonny returned and wondered if he wanted to know what Jason and Carly had been talking about. Jason explained that Spinelli was in Europe, doing investigations and planning to get into Faison's safe deposit box. There was a "contingency plan" involving Jason in case anything went wrong. Sonny thought that Spinelli would probably "blow it," and he thought that Jason should have made plans with Anna instead.
Jason was convinced that Anna was withholding information because she seemed too close to the search for Henrik. Jason asked about Mike as he and Sonny went out to the patio. Sonny admitted that his father had both good days and bad days, but he was concerned with Mike mentioning the field in Croton. Mike had never been there, and Sonny was certain that Mike couldn't have known what had happened there.
Sonny revealed that he had been working his way through the organization and had been summoned by Joe Scully. "You're gonna be driving to Croton. Don't forget your shovel," Sonny recalled the mobster saying. Sonny added that he'd found Joe's problem wrapped in a plastic shower curtain in the trunk of the car, and Sonny had taken care of it. His father had mentioned the field, but he hadn't been there. "How would he know?" Sonny wondered.
His father had been there off and on, and Mike had always lectured Sonny that Joe had been bad news. He realized that his father had tried to stop him from making bad choices, and maybe his life would have been different if he'd listened. He was certain that Mike had not been in Croton. Jason asked if Sonny might have mentioned it, but Sonny denied it. Jason suggested that someone else had.
Sonny went on to explain that his father had mentioned an incident with a kid in Sonny's childhood and the day they'd played kick the can. Mike had recalled specifics of the day, but Sonny was sure Mike hadn't been there, either. Jason thought that Mike might have heard about it from someone else, and he thought that it was okay to allow Mike to have the memory. Soon enough, Mike wouldn't remember anything. Sonny agreed that he had no problem with Mike thinking he'd been there, but Croton was another story.
Sonny declared that Mike had enjoyed the evening at Luke's Place, and everyone had shown up, whether they liked Sonny or not. Mike had been himself. Jason confessed that he'd never understood the "value of memory" until he had seen everyone at the event. He'd realized that he shared history with many of the people there. Jason thought that with Mike losing his own history, it was nice to have it for a while. Sonny admitted that he never knew which Mike would show up, and Croton was worrying him. He wondered what Mike knew, if anything, and if he did know something, what he might have said to someone without realizing it.
4/10 Jason arrived at Carly's, and Carly asked him to tell Sonny "everything." When Jason was finished talking about the mysterious phone calls, Sonny wondered why no one had told him before. Carly revealed that it had happened the same night Sonny had found out about Mike's Alzheimer's diagnosis.
Jason continued by telling Sonny about the scarf, and then Carly filled Jason in on what had happened at her house. Sonny proposed that they call the cops, and Carly agreed. Minutes later, she informed the men that the cops were on their way. Jason's phone rang, and he answered it to Anna, who asked to meet him at the Metro Court for an update. Jason made sure that Sonny and Carly no longer needed him, and he promised that he was on his way.
Jason arrived at Metro Court, and Anna informed him that, thanks to Finn, she'd confirmed that Faison had been in possession of his lighter on the night he'd died. Jason wondered if Finn was just telling Anna what she wanted to hear, as he'd seemed more interested in protecting her than giving Jason any information. Anna dismissed Jason's suggestion, as she believed Finn to be "level-headed" and reliable.
Jason remembered that the book had made it seem like Henrik had taken the lighter as Faison had been dying. He continued that he believed Henrik had left clues in his book for his mother to follow. He wanted Spinelli to see the end of the book just in case he could pick up a trail. Anna asked Jason to suspend their investigation for a few days, as Emma was visiting starting the next day. Jason told her that he would keep working, and he left.
4/11 At Anna's, Jason made sure that Emma had gotten there all right, and Anna confirmed that Emma was in the kitchen. Jason had news about Henrik that he wanted to tell her in person. He revealed that the publisher of The Severed Branch had "unwillingly" told him that the proceeds of the book sales were being deposited to a bank account in Zurich. Anna related that Zurich wasn't far from the school she suspected Henrik had attended, so she figured someone in the area would know him. She volunteered to pursue the lead at the school, and Jason agreed to follow the money. Anna wondered if Jason was still going to look for Henrik's mother, and he replied that he was.
He sensed that she seemed uncomfortable with that, and she claimed that they should respect the woman's privacy. Jason informed her that he was going to handle going to Zurich on his own. She urged him to wait a week so she could go, too, but he wanted to go as soon as possible. She accused him of wanting to shoot first and ask questions later, but she believed he wasn't just a "mindless killing machine" as many people believed. Anna and Jason agreed that they respected one another. Because of that respect, Jason asked Anna what was really going on with her involvement in looking for Henrik. She answered that she had her reasons why she couldn't fill him in, and he understood.
Just then, Emma emerged and hugged her grandmother. She wondered what they'd been talking about. Jason told Emma that they'd been talking about taking a trip to Switzerland for business. Emma told them that she had been assigned a project at school about Switzerland, so she wanted to go with them. Anna reminded Emma that it would be a "working trip," and Emma fondly remembered the last time she'd helped Anna spy.
Emma went back into the kitchen for a snack, and Jason was in disbelief that Anna was considering taking Emma along. Anna reasoned that it would be less conspicuous if the two had a child with them. She also figured that Robin would give permission for Emma to go, because there was no safer place Emma could be than with Anna and Jason.
4/13 Jason arrived at Anna’s. She explained that she wanted him to dress the part of a bodyguard when she played the part of a wealthy widow named Mrs. Everett Ashton. She thought that he looked like a bodyguard, so he couldn't do much else. She wanted him dressed in "proper attire" and had purchased him some clothing.
Jason was annoyed and thought that Anna just wanted him to be a babysitter while she got into the bank to retrieve the information they wanted. Emma returned and told Jason about her new clothes for the secret mission. Anna suggested the little girl do some research for their next fun activity, and Emma declared that she loved research. Sarcastically, Jason stated that Emma was her mother's daughter, and the little girl asked who else she would be.
Emma left the room again, and Jason suggested that he just break into the bank and get the information they wanted. Anna was opposed and clarified that she could just walk into the bank and not look like a criminal. She thought that Jason was stubborn like a brick wall, and she wanted Jason to stay with Emma while she handled the task. She thought her way was better.
Furthermore, Jason stated that he wanted answers from Henrik if they found him, while he accused Anna of trying to protect Henrik. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Jason pulled out his gun and hid on the side of the door while Anna answered it. She opened it slowly and slammed it shut. She opened it again. "What the hell are you doing here?" she asked. It was Robert Scorpio. Scorpio walked into the room and asked who the target might be in her undercover operation. Jason headed out.
4/16 Jason was walking through the halls of the hotel, back to his room, when he stumbled upon Sam. She asked if he had come looking for her? He says no and explained that he was there with Anna, looking for Henrik. He remembered that she was there to get away, so he said he'd leave her to it. She asked to hear about Jason's investigation, and the two went to Sam's room.
A few minutes later, Jason emerged from the bedroom after visiting a sleeping Danny. He wondered how Sam had ended up in Switzerland? She admitted that she'd spun a globe and let Danny point to a location. She asked about his leads on Henrik. He told her about the clues from the book: the lighter, the epigraph suggesting that Henrik was going after his mother, and the Zurich bank to which the proceeds from the book were being deposited.
Sam realized that it could be the same bank containing Faison's safe deposit box. Jason agreed, but he told Sam about Anna's plan to start with the schools. Answering Sam's confusion, he explained that Anna didn't want Jason to find Henrik first, as she believed he would kill Henrik. "Why does she care?" Sam wondered. Just as Jason answered that he didn't know, his phone went off. He was puzzled to see a Zurich area code but answered the phone anyway. He listened for a few seconds then said, "Got it. On my way." He revealed that the Swiss police had arrested Spinelli.
4/17 In Switzerland, Jason received a phone call while he was in Sam's hotel room. He advised Sam that Spinelli had been arrested, and he had to leave. Sam offered to go instead because she had a fake ID card that she always carried, and she could be a lawyer. She didn't think that Jason would be able to pass for anyone else.
Jason explained that Spinelli had made a plan. Before he could leave, there was a knock at the door. It turned out to be Alexis. "Hello, Jason," she said. She had been worried about her grandchildren and had decided to fly to see them. Sam asked her to babysit in order for Sam and Jason to get Spinelli. Alexis agreed that she would watch the children, but she asked Jason to leave in order for her to talk to Sam, who was annoyed at her mother.
Alexis was worried and pointed out that Spinelli had done something illegal, and then Sam was about to do the same with Jason. The kids were there and could be in harm's way. Sam was sure that none of them would be caught. Alexis wondered if all of it meant that Sam was getting back together with Jason. Sam clarified that she'd happened to bump into Jason in the hotel hallway, but Alexis didn't believe the scenario for a second. She thought that Spinelli might have set it up. Sam assured her that Jason had had nothing to do with it. Alexis was miffed that Jason always seemed to be innocent while everyone else had done the "dirty work."
She thought that Sam had broken free but was getting dragged back into the same old thing. "I am not ready," Sam shouted at her mother. Sam quickly apologized for raising her voice. She was tired and confused, and she couldn't love someone at that time. She wanted to help solve a mystery with Jason and Spinelli. Alexis asked if Sam could get involved and not get "sucked back into a relationship with him." Sam reminded her mother that she was a private investigator, and it had been a long time since she'd been involved in a case. She was good at it, and she finally felt free. She asked Alexis to take the kids back to Port Charles. Alexis agreed, but she thought it was all a terrible idea. The women shared a hug.
Spinelli sat in prison and lit up when the door opened. "Deputy Marshal, we meet again," he said. It was Jason with a prison official. "This is him," Jason responded. He was dressed in a suit and tie. Jason had his warrant for Spinelli, who had been posing as Henrik Faison. The official left to check the paperwork, and Jason gloated that no one had checked his badge or documents. He sat with Spinelli at the table. Spinelli admitted that his prison experience had mostly been pleasant. Jason announced that he'd been with Sam, and Spinelli seemed quite surprised.
Jason wondered if Spinelli had known that Sam was in Switzerland. After rolling his eyes, Spinelli admitted that he "kind of" knew. He had kept tabs on her in case of emergency, but he thought it low odds that Jason would have seen her. Spinelli believed it had been fate. Jason stated that while he wasn't angry, he wanted Spinelli to stop interfering in getting the couple back together. Jason revealed that his heart wanted to be with Sam, and it killed him to see her and not make any future plans.
Jason knew that Sam wasn't ready, and he didn't want to pressure her. He loved her, but it had to be her choice. "Be a friend to Sam," he urged. Spinelli recalled how Sam had gotten better after Jason had been gone, but she hadn't been the same person until the real Jason had returned. He promised to be a friend. The official returned with the release papers and stated that Spinelli was Jason's problem. Jason cuffed his friend and took him out.
Outside, Jason removed the cuffs, and the men pondered their best mode of escape. "Hey, boys," Sam greeted them as she dangled some car keys. "Need a ride?" she asked. Everyone smiled as Sam declared that she was driving.
4/20 Herr Bruhl, the manager of the Eisenschaft Bank in Switzerland, welcomed Sam as "Frau Ryder" and Jason as her bodyguard into his office to discuss moving her assets there. He wondered which assets she was looking to move, and she handed him a flash drive, which he inserted into his computer. It was password protected, so she got up to enter the password.
She informed him that her "number one priority" was security. Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Jason let Spinelli in. Spinelli announced that the bank and the manager were "at my mercy.” Bruhl demanded to know how Spinelli had gotten in, and Spinelli replied that the bank's security was "no match" for him. Bruhl insisted that the bank had never been robbed before. "Until today," Sam replied.
Bruhl didn't think they would get away with it, but Spinelli revealed that even Bruhl's money left a trail. He got onto Bruhl's computer and discovered that Bruhl had been embezzling millions of dollars from the bank's richest clients. Jason reminded Spinelli that they were supposed to be looking for Henrik.
Spinelli found Henrik's account and revealed that a recent deposit, from book sales, had made it into his account. The money had been transferred to a bank in Iceland, but Henrik had made sure to thoroughly cover his tracks. Spinelli couldn't find what name Henrik had been using, but he found a picture, so Sam and Jason took a look.
4/23 Spinelli showed Jason and Sam the picture of Henrik on the computer, and Bruhl confirmed that it was Henrik. Spinelli quickly ran it through a program and discovered that the picture was actually a composite of elements of hundreds of other faces. Bruhl admitted that he'd never met Henrik in person.
Spinelli did some more digging and found that both Faison and his son had safe deposit boxes at the bank. He saw that Bruhl had accessed Faison's after his death. Bruhl explained that Henrik had wanted the letters from the box addressed to Drew and Jason, one of which contained a flash drive. Bruhl had left them in a birdhouse in a park for Henrik. Sam instructed Bruhl to go get Faison's safe deposit box and take Jason along so he didn't "get lost."
A short while later, the two returned with the box. Sam pulled out piles of Euros, a bag of sapphires, and a clipped pile of papers with code written on them. Jason pulled out an old photo of Anna, which he pocketed in order to return it to Anna. Jason also pulled out a storage box with a scanner and keypad, but Spinelli yelled at him not to touch it, or else they were all dead.
Spinelli identified the box as a "conundrum box," which was only to be opened by one specific person. If anyone else attempted to open the box, it would destroy everything and everyone in its proximity. He did assure them that it was safe to transport, as long as no one tried to open it. He and Sam packed up the contents of the safe deposit box into Spinelli's briefcase and decided that they would donate the money and jewels to charity.
Spinelli uploaded proof of Bruhl's embezzlements to "the cloud," and he configured the security system to go back up long after he, Sam, and Jason were gone. Sam informed Bruhl that he was safe as long as he continued to cooperate with them and didn't cross them. The three left arm in arm with the briefcase. Anna opened the door to Jason, Sam, and Spinelli, who had the briefcase. They quickly updated Anna and Robert on their visit to the bank and showed her the conundrum box, which was marked with the Cassadine family crest.
4/25 Sam and Jason returned to Sam's room, and Sam expressed how badly she'd needed a good time. She called out for Spinelli, but Jason picked up a note from the coffee table. In the note, Spinelli told them that he'd gotten a nonstop flight to Seattle, and Sam and Jason were to return to Port Charles on Friday. He'd also enclosed a list of restaurants in case they wanted to go out. Sam realized that Spinelli had stranded them there on purpose.
Sam related how many coincidences there had been involving her and Jason. Jason admitted that Spinelli had been keeping tabs on Sam. He'd purposely booked Jason and Anna at the same large hotel as Sam, thinking that it would be "fate" if they'd bumped into each other. Sam vowed to have a conversation with Spinelli about privacy, and Jason promised that Spinelli wouldn't do it again.
Getting back to the investigation, Sam suggested that she and Jason retrace Anna's steps, since it seemed that she knew more than she was saying. He made sure that she wanted to stay on the investigation, as she'd wanted distance. "This isn't it," she realized. Jason confided that, when he'd gotten out of the clinic and realized how much time had passed, he'd just wanted Sam and Danny to be all right. He'd told himself that he could handle anything as long as they were all right. He related that, whatever she decided, "I'm good."
Sam remembered that she'd never heard about Jason's trip back to Port Charles, so he told her the story. He started with Father Stanislav taking care of Jason at his church and then arranging for Jason to be smuggled overseas on a freighter. Jason remembered his fellow "stowaway," and he recounted winning the man's "lucky" watch in a card game. Jason remembered the man's name as Huxley, and Sam exclaimed that she knew the man.
Jason continued with him arriving in New York and bribing a bartender with the watch to throw Klein's men off Jason's trail. Sam remembered that the day she and Drew had bought Aurora, they'd gone into a bar where Sam had admired their waitress' watch. She remembered seeing "Huxley" engraved on the back of the watch. She asked when he'd been there, and he remembered that it had been Friday the thirteenth of October.
Sam realized that Jason had probably been in the small New York bar only hours before her and Drew. Just then, both of their phones went off, and it was the airline telling them that they had seats on a flight in two hours. He had to get his things together, so he said he'd meet her in the lobby. Jason stopped dead, seeing the contemplative look on her face. She told him that they'd been apart for five years, but they'd ended up in the same bar, looking at the same watch, only hours apart. Jason remarked that Huxley had been right about the watch being lucky. Sam replied that Spinelli could be right about fate.
4/26 Sam heard a noise at her front door. She opened it and found Maxie trying to slip some papers under the door. Maxie explained that it was Crimson paperwork, and she asked how Sam's trip had been. Sam revealed that she'd had a lot of fun with the kids until she'd helped Jason and Spinelli on a case. Sam asked how Maxie was doing. Maxie replied that work was a distraction for her -- except when she was worried about running into Lulu. She related that real friends would never sell a friend out to advance their career, and she called Sam and Peter her real friends.
Maxie promised a surprised Sam that she wasn't using Peter to fill Lulu's gap in her life, but she explained all the ways Peter had supported her since Nathan's death. She added that Nina didn't like Peter, as she wanted Maxie to only lean on her. Sam commented that Peter seemed like a good friend, and Maxie assured Sam that Peter was still keeping up with his work. Sam related that she felt like she was neglecting Aurora, and she confided that she was thinking about stepping down. Aurora had been Drew's dream, and she wanted to figure out who she was as an "independent woman."
Maxie was glad that Sam had had a good trip, as she wanted her friend to be happy, and Sam repeated the sentiment to Maxie. Sam was also glad that Peter had helped Maxie hold onto the good memories of Nathan, because it made Sam "feel better about what I did." She got a box out of her coat closet and handed it to Maxie. Maxie was extremely thankful that Sam had taken the box of Nathan's things meant for donation. Maxie hugged Sam and excused herself, as both women had things to take care of.
4/27 At Aurora, Sam revealed that she had planned on quitting and giving her shares to Drew, but she would wait. She would wait until after Curtis completed his investigation, but she wanted Curtis to consider her a partner. "You're in," Curtis said. He added that he had the lead, and it was his case. Sam left Curtis in Peter's office and ran into Drew in the hallway. "So, you're back, huh?" Drew said.
4/30 Drew was surprised to see Sam in the hallway of Aurora as she emerged from Peter's office. Drew wanted to talk to Peter, but Sam advised him that Peter was at a meeting. She suggested that Drew could check it out, but she offered to buy him a cup of coffee instead. She wanted to talk to him. Drew agreed, and they left. Inside Peter's office, Curtis continued to go through Peter's files and furniture, looking for anything to tip him off about Peter's past.
Sam and Drew went out for coffee. Sam filled Drew in on everything that had happened in Switzerland. She revealed that Faison's letters had been missing from the safe deposit box. Sam added that she and Drew were in a strange place, but they owned their company together, and she wanted to remain there for the time being. Drew thought they should separate their personal from their professional lives, and he suggested they get divorced. Sam agreed.
Scorpio met with Jason, who suggested it was time to shut Henrik down. Scorpio mentioned that he'd spoken to Valentin, who'd claimed not to know anything about the conundrum box. Scorpio didn't believe him. Jason thought that they could get Henrik to open the box by enticing him with his mother.
5/2 At Kelly's, Jason tried unsuccessfully to reach Spinelli on the phone. Sam saw Jason and asked to speak to him. They sat at a table, and Jason informed her that he had been trying to find clues to lead to Henrik's mother. There had been no leads from their bank heist. Sam admitted she'd had fun but advised him that she had changed her mind about leaving Aurora. She also wanted Jason to call her if he had a bank infiltration in the future. He promised she'd be the first one he called. Sam disclosed that she was getting a divorce without any fighting and was moving on. Jason had to leave to meet with Sonny, and Alexis arrived at the same time.
Alexis took Jason's seat, and Sam told her mother that Alexis had been right. She shouldn't have rushed into another marriage with Drew. Alexis assured her that it was difficult when it didn't work out, but she was positive that Sam had the resilience, courage, and honesty to make it on her own. Alexis added that Sam also had a good attorney. Alexis recommended that Sam use irreconcilable differences as her grounds for divorce. Sam made it known that she didn't want to fight over custody, and she was agreeable to whatever Drew wanted. She also wanted to leave Aurora out of it because she needed an excuse to stay on. Alexis was curious, but Sam was vague and only said that she had "issues to resolve."
Afterwards, she would sign the company over to Drew, Sam concluded. She still had to figure herself out. Alexis agreed to contact Drew's attorney. Sam asked Alexis what was going on in her world. "A little of this, a little of that," Alexis replied with a head motion. Sam laughed and repeated the head motion. She was surprised and amused. Alexis only hoped that her relationship with Finn hadn't been "blown to hell."
Back at Metro Court, Jason arrived and met up with Sonny, who filled him in on the events surrounding Mike and Avery. He admitted that he had a bigger problem with Carly. She had not been where she'd needed to be and had followed an imaginary note to Morgan's grave. Jason thought that Spinelli might be able to check it out, but Sonny insisted it was all in Carly's head due to grief. It was similar to the night when she had thought that someone had been in her house.
Jason wasn't sure it was all imaginary, as he had known about the phone calls. He also mentioned that there were no cameras near Carly's office, and someone could have planted the scarf and removed it. Maybe someone had had a key to the house. Sonny remembered that Jason had always defended Carly, and he accepted that. He added that things had been different during the time that Jason had been gone. He and Carly had lost their son, and she had grieved a lot. She was still grieving. Jason had to take a phone call, and it was Anna. She wanted to see him.
5/3 Jason entered Anna's house, and she clarified with him that he was planning on trying to use Henrik's mother as bait. When he confirmed it, she told him, "look no further." She suggested that, instead of wasting time searching for and exposing an innocent woman, she would pretend to be Henrik's mother in order to draw him out.
As a trained field agent, she understood the risks and could protect herself if need be. She also reminded him that she knew what it felt like to reconnect with a long-lost child. She planned on emailing Lulu in order to ask for help reaching out to "my boy."
Jason wondered what would happen if Henrik's real mother read the article. Anna replied that they needed to act quickly so that they wouldn't have to worry about it. She added that Lulu needed to believe that she was corresponding with Henrik's mother so that Peter wouldn't feel like he'd compromised the integrity of the paper, and Lulu wouldn't be forced to keep a secret from her employer.
Anna decided that she would reach out to Lulu, and she would set up a meeting with Henrik if he took the bait. Jason thought it was too dangerous, especially because she seemed too close to the case. "Are you willing to defend yourself?" he wondered, adding that he couldn't let Robin's mother get herself killed. He made her promise that she would call him if she heard from Henrik so that he could be there, and she reluctantly agreed. She had an email to write, so he left. When he was gone, she sat down and sobbed.
5/7 Jason arrived at Liz’s to drop off a birthday gift for Jake. Elizabeth called up the stairs for Jake, who'd stayed home from school that day with a “stomachache." Jake descended the stairs and froze when he saw Jason. Jason handed him an envelope, which Jake put down on the coffee table, and he sat down to draw.
Jason sat down next to Jake and wondered if Jake was excited for school to be over, but Jake answered that he liked school. Elizabeth added that Jake's favorite subjects were math, which Drew helped him with, and art, which Franco helped him with. Elizabeth answered her ringing phone and handed it to Jake, announcing that it was an international call. An excited Jake realized that it was Spencer, and he ran upstairs with the phone.
Jason looked at Jake's "good" drawings, and Elizabeth informed Jason that Franco had seen Jake's talent early, and he'd been an inspiration to Jake. Elizabeth continued that, while it wasn't her place to share the details, she believed that Jason wouldn't be so unforgiving of Franco if he knew the whole story.
Jake returned and told his parents that he'd told Spencer that Jason was there, and then he'd felt bad because Spencer had no father. "I have three, sort of," he said, and Elizabeth called him lucky. Jake continued that Danny had said he'd had an "awesome time" staying with Jason.
Jason invited Jake to join them anytime he wanted. Jake decided to open Jason's gift, and he found tickets inside the envelope. Jason explained that they were tickets to the Memorial Day game at the minor league baseball stadium, and he could take anyone he wanted. "Can you come?" Jake said, handing Jason a ticket. "I wouldn't miss it," Jason beamed, taking the ticket.
5/8 At Volonino's Gym, Drew took his feelings out on the punching bag. He thought back to the last conversation he'd had with Sam about their decision to divorce. Jason walked in, and the two men stared at each other. Jason offered to leave, but Drew assured him that the gym was big enough for the two of them. Drew questioned Jason about when he'd learned of the divorce, and he assumed that Jason and Sam were getting ready to move in together.
Jason assured Drew that he and Sam were not together, and he apologized for not finding anything in Switzerland that would have led to Drew getting his memories back. Drew snapped that he didn't want Jason's sympathy or anything else from him. Drew didn't want to keep Jason's memories, and Jason admitted that he didn't want to share anything with Drew.
Drew figured that Jason was referring to Sam, and he reminded Jason that he and Sam shared a daughter. He accused Jason of "playing" Sam because she had been happy with Drew until Jason had returned. Jason retorted that Drew didn't know him, but Drew stated that he had been Jason and probably a better one. Jason refused to apologize for returning. Drew mentioned that he couldn't remember anything prior to 2014, and he didn't want Jason's baggage.
Jason declared that Henrik might have the key to Drew getting his own memories back, and maybe they could find him in possession of the flash drive that contained the memories. Drew snapped that he would get what he needed in his own way.
As Sam stepped off the elevator in the Crimson office, Maxie was telling someone off on the phone. She shouted that she wasn't afraid of Erica Kane and hung up. She saw Sam and announced that she had decided not to allow her sadness about Nathan to take over her life. Sam wondered if that applied to Maxie's friendship with Lulu, and Maxie immediately grew defensive. She asked why Sam was a cheerleader for Lulu. Sam insisted she was on Maxie's side and had wanted to make sure that Maxie was doing okay.
Sam knew that Maxie and Lulu had been friends for a long time. Maxie stated that they "used to" be friends. She asked Sam about her decision to quit her job, and Sam revealed that she had decided it was bad timing and complicated, and she was staying on. Maxie was curious, but Sam reminded her that she was still the co-chief operating officer. Sam had "unfinished business."
Peter found Valentin in his Aurora office and demanded to know what he was doing there. Valentin stated that he had been looking for more "incriminating evidence" that Peter might have left behind for someone to find. Valentin added that, while Peter would not see Scorpio again, he was aware that Sam and Curtis had been investigating Peter. "Your precious house of cards is gonna come crashing down around you," Valentin declared.
Peter accused Valentin of having the same "fatal weakness" for Anna as Faison had had. Valentin took exception to being compared to Faison and called the old man an "obsessive lunatic." Peter was sure that Anna would figure things out about Scorpio. Valentin begged him to leave town and get a new identity, but Peter refused. He was adamant that Anna needed to go before she connected Peter and Valentin. Valentin reminded Peter that many people in town loved Anna, including Jason, and they would find Henrik. Peter insisted that that was why Anna needed to go. He was the one who had set Jason up to kill Faison. He knew what he was doing. Valentin replied that Jason was lethal, and he would have questions.
Just then, Sam walked in and apologized for not knocking. Peter declared that she was the boss, and Valentin claimed to have been looking for Nina. He announced that he was Sam's uncle. Sam pointed out that Nina was in her office, and Valentin left. Peter noted that he'd heard that Sam had been to his office when he hadn't been there, but he was glad she'd "caught" him.
Sam confessed that she'd been looking for him. He asked her about her trip, and she told him it had been great. She'd gone to Bern. Peter revealed that he'd been there. Sam also admitted that she'd planned on quitting, and Peter told her it was a good call. Sam maintained that she had changed her mind, and after looking at Peter's face, asked him why he appeared to be disappointed.
5/11 Jason arrived at Sonny's, and Sonny reminded Jason of Sonny's "Croton situation." He revealed that he'd found out that construction was supposed to start soon, and if anything was found, Sonny's life would be "blown apart." A short while later, Jason and Sonny arrived at the field in Croton with two shovels and a ladder. They got to digging, and Sonny remembered helping Joe Scully because Scully had had everything Sonny had wanted.
Jason thought that he and Sonny would get to the body soon. Sonny divulged to Jason that, when he'd given Jason a job, he had intended to employ Jason for the rest of his life. Jason reasoned that he'd needed help, so Sonny had given him a job. Sonny thought he'd "trapped" Jason, but Jason replied that he'd chosen his life. Sonny insisted that he didn't take Jason for granted, and Jason said that Sonny's family was his family.
Sonny retrieved a flashlight as Jason hit a piece of metal. He picked up a money clip shaped like a dollar sign, and Sonny was completely sure that it had belonged to the victim. Jason continued digging and broke it to Sonny that there was no body in the hole.
Maxie bumped into Sam in the Metro Court restaurant as she was rushing through. Sam stopped her to ask her a "quick question," and she asked if Maxie would be her date for the Nurses Ball. Maxie was touched, but she revealed that she'd just agreed to go with Peter. She promised that they would catch up soon, and she ran off.
Curtis sat down with Sam at the bar and informed her that Nina had officially called off the investigation into Peter. Sam thought it was good for Peter's loudest skeptic to be quiet, as he would think he was "in the clear." Sam revealed that Peter was "tangled" with too many of her loved ones, so she refused to let the investigation go. Curtis replied that Nina was apparently satisfied with the investigation, but he agreed with Sam. He proposed that they work together and keep the case open.
5/14 Jason and Sonny dug for a body at Croton. Jason found a money clip that Sonny was certain had belonged to his victim. After digging pretty far down, Jason advised Sonny that there was no body to be found. Sonny was positive they were at the proper location, and no one else had been with him at the time the body had been hidden. He was worried about the gun that had been with the body that could tie him to the murder with the latest in forensics.
Jason was confident that the body had already been moved, and according to Spinelli's investigation, no body had been found anywhere. Sonny suggested that perhaps someone had moved it to use against him at a later time. Jason announced that they had to leave.
Back at Sonny's house, Sonny poured drinks for himself and Jason on the patio. He vowed to ask Mike again about what he knew of Croton, and hopefully, he would get him on a good day. Jason offered to have Spinelli check around again, but Sonny knew that Spinelli had been thorough the first time. He urged Jason to go home to bed. Jason thought that no one had dug in the ground recently. It had to have been long before, and if something were found, it hadn't been used against Sonny. Maybe nothing would happen, Jason concluded. He left.
5/15 Nurse’s Ball Promo
Jason entered the PCPD and asked Dante what the charges against Carly were. Dante revealed that it depended on whether or not Nelle and the baby survived. Chase informed Carly that Nelle had said that Carly had pushed her down the stairs, and Carly accused Nelle of setting her up. She mentioned the baby blanket, but Chase revealed that no blanket had been recovered from the house. Diane suggested that Carly had imagined the blanket. "Absolutely not," Carly snarled, and Jason backed her up, proposing that someone else had grabbed the blanket.
Diane asked to speak to Sonny privately so that she could talk to Sonny about the details of Carly's arraignment while Carly and Jason brainstormed. When they were gone, Carly told Jason that she knew they didn't believe her. Jason assured her that her theory made sense, and they would figure everything out. Jason thought that Nelle had to have left a trail somewhere. He also offered to talk to Sonny on her behalf, but Carly reminded him that Sonny didn't trust Jason's judgment of Carly. He promised to always believe her. Jason emerged from the interrogation room, and Sonny advised him to "take a step back" from Carly.
Inside the interrogation room, Diane revealed that Carly's arraignment wouldn't be until the next day. Carly assured Diane, Sonny, and Jason that she could make it for one more night just as Dante and Chase entered. Dante announced that Nelle and the baby were fine, but it was time for everyone to go. He cuffed Carly, and Sonny wondered if that was necessary. Dante answered that it was "standard procedure" for someone being charged with two counts of attempted murder. Carly instructed Sonny to go home and take care of the family. Jason promised to do as Carly asked, and Dante and Chase led her out.
