Steve's Return #2 (or Jason & Sam #36) November 20, 2017 - February 2, 2018: 8 hour original edit
DVD #36A 11/20 Jason/Patient 6 sat at a table in the Metro Court restaurant with Sonny. They spoke of the rebuilding being done in Puerto Rico, and they agreed how thankful they were for their own lives. Sonny invited him to Thanksgiving dinner and assured the man that Carly would be angry if he didn't accept the invitation.
Jason/Patient 6 arrived when Monica was alone. He had wanted to say goodbye because she was headed to a spa in New Mexico for the holiday. "I'm running away," Monica admitted. She explained that there were too many loved ones missing from the holiday scene. Patient 6 invited her to dinner at Sonny and Carly's, but she declined because he and Michael were the only two things she had in common with the couple. She was thankful that Patient 6 was home, and he was thankful too. They embraced.
Shortly after, alone in the room, Patient 6 picked up a family photo from the mantel. Michael returned and stopped short. The men looked at each other awkwardly. "It's so good to see you," Patient 6 stated. Michael had returned to get his phone. He admitted that he'd been hiding from Patient 6, and he'd been feeling guilty and ashamed for befriending Jason. He'd had a feeling all along that the other man hadn't really been Jason.
Michael was embarrassed that Patient 6 had made the first move to see him. As usual, he had picked Michael up and taken care of him, Michael said. He began to cry, and Jason/Patient 6 was teary as they hugged each other. Olivia returned with her decorations, and Monica followed closely. She reminded Olivia again that no one would be in the house and ordered her not to get a Christmas tree until after Monica returned from her vacation. Michael and Patient 6 walked Monica out to her car.
Later, Sonny was practicing his moves in the ring. Michael and Patient 6 arrived, and the guys started horsing around, just like old times.
11/21 At Jason and Sam's penthouse, Sam greeted her mother. Alexis wished her daughter a happy Thanksgiving as she entered. Nearby, Jason was on the phone while Sam explained that there had been a work emergency because there had been breaking news. Moments later, Jason wrapped up the call then revealed that the breaking news had to do with Olivia Jerome. Sam was not pleased and wondered why they should give the woman who had nearly killed Scout any exposure. Jason pointed out that it was important for their company to remain impartial.
Sam realized that Jason was right, but she didn't like it. After Jason gave his wife a quick kiss goodbye and left, Sam told her mother that he was determined to make Aurora Media a success and something lasting for the children that no one could take away. Sam ducked into the kitchen to fetch three boxes of pies she'd picked up at Kelly's for her mother. Alexis was grateful because Molly was eager to impress T.J.'s Aunt Stella at dinner. Sam smiled until Alexis steered the conversation back to Jason by asking if Sam had talked to Patient 6.
Sam admitted that she hadn't seen her husband's brother since it was confirmed that the two men were twins. Sam insisted that she loved her husband more than anything, so she didn't know what she was supposed to do if it turned out that Patient 6 was Jason. She had no idea what it would mean for her marriage and her family. She also felt as if it would be a betrayal to believe Patient 6's claims. Sam refused to do it because it was wrong, and she didn't want to feel guilty.
Sam thought it best to follow Jason's advice and focus on her work. She sat down to turn on the television because she wanted to see the breaking news. Alexis sat beside Sam on the sofa as Nora Buchanan gave a news conference. Nora introduced herself as Olivia "Liv" Jerome's attorney then announced that she intended to read a statement from her client about the arrest and conviction of Liv's brother, Julian Jerome. Sam's expression filled with shock as she looked at her mother.
In Llanview, Nora read Liv's statement, which expressed regret for the crimes that Liv had committed. According to Liv, she'd had a break with reality when she'd found out that the love of her life, Duke Lavery, had been killed. However, Liv promised that she'd been in treatment and was once again of sound mind. The statement explained that Liv wanted to clear her conscience because her brother hadn't acted of his own free will.
Liv revealed that she had blamed her brother for Duke's death, so she had forced Julian to do her bidding and commit crimes by threatening to harm Julian's family if he failed to cooperate. After Nora finished reading the statement, she announced that the statement had been notarized and forwarded to the district attorney in Port Charles. Sam couldn't understand why Liv would exonerate Julian and asked her mother what Liv's statement meant for Julian.
Alexis suspected that Julian would be granted another trial. Alexis asked how Sam felt about the possibility of her father leaving prison. Sam admitted that she didn't think of Julian as her father because of the horrible things he'd done to Alexis. Sam also pointed out that Julian had committed numerous crimes that he'd never paid for, which was why it baffled Sam that Liv had helped him. Alexis carefully suggested that they focus on the holiday and worry about the rest later, but Sam noticed that Alexis hadn't seemed at all surprised by Nora's bombshell.
Alexis admitted that she would be glad if Julian got out, but Sam reminded her mother that Julian had held a knife to Alexis' throat, a knife that Helena had used to murder Alexis' mother. Alexis explained that she was a Cassadine, and she'd grown up in a world where violence, vengeance, and deception had been a daily activity. Alexis might have changed her name, pursued a career in law, and raised decent children, but it hadn't changed her past or where she was from. Concerned, Sam asked if Alexis thought she deserved someone like Julian, but Alexis shook her head. She explained that she believed they were drawn to what they were familiar with.
Alexis believed that she and Julian understood each other because they had each grown up in toxic worlds, and the ties that bound them were deeper than logic could define. Alexis acknowledged that Julian would be in a better place if he was released from prison, but she promised Sam that she would do her very best to move on to the next chapter in her life. Sam hoped that Alexis meant it. She walked Alexis to the door then promised to see her later for dinner.
On Sonny's back terrace, Sonny and Michael assured Patient 6/Jason that they wanted him to stay for dinner because they were thankful for his return and wanted to celebrate. Jason smiled and promised that he didn't feel pressured to be there; he was just glad to be home. After Michael went inside, Sonny let Jason know that it appeared that Klein's boss had cut his losses and disappeared. Jason wasn't surprised, but he wouldn't let his guard down because he was certain that someone was watching and waiting for the right time to strike. Sonny agreed.
Carly & Robin entered the living room as Carly reminded Robin about Spinelli's facial recognition software that had first indicated that Jake Doe was Jason, and the DNA test had confirmed their suspicions. Robin promised that Carly wasn't to blame for the mistake, but Carly disagreed because she'd known the truth the instant she'd looked into Jason's eyes that she'd been wrong about Sam's husband.
Robin confided that Jason had said something to her that had made her see the truth, and she had realized how much she had missed him. Carly smiled in understanding, but she reminded Robin that they had Jason back. Just then, Sonny and Jason returned from the terrace. After the men exchanged greetings with Robin, Jason invited her to stay for dinner, but she explained that Anna, Mac, and Felicia were watching Noah and waiting for her to return because her mother had planned a feast.
After Sonny and Carly excused themselves, Robin asked how Jason was doing? He assured her that he was fine, but she knew he wasn't. She suspected that he was frustrated because he'd traveled far to get home, only to find that Sam and Danny were still far away. Jason couldn't blame Sam for moving on because five years had been a long time, but Robin argued that Sam had believed that she was married to Jason until just a few weeks earlier. Robin imagined that Sam envied Sonny and Carly because they'd been free to throw their arms around Jason and welcome him home.
Robin explained that Sam was loyal to her husband because they shared a daughter, and recognizing Jason meant breaking Sam' husband's heart, but it couldn't change how Sam felt. Jason was surprised when Robin admitted that she was in a unique position to understand Sam's plight because Patrick had been in a similar situation when Robin had managed to escape Jerry Jacks and Helena Cassadine's clutches.
Robin told him about her captivity on Cassadine Island and how she had managed to make her way home just as Patrick had been about to marry another woman. Robin confided that Patrick had needed time and space to figure things out, and she was certain the same was true for Sam.
After Robin left, Michael entered the living room and saw Jason looking at a photograph of Michael and Morgan. Jason admitted that he'd only known Morgan as a child, and he asked what his godson had been like. Michael's smile was bittersweet as he described his younger brother as charming, reckless, and a lot of fun. Michael explained that Morgan could make him furious one moment then laugh until it hurt the next. He conceded that there had been a lot of ups and downs as Morgan had struggled with bipolar disorder, and Michael had often been forced to bail his brother out.
Jason regretted that he hadn't been there to help Michael. Michael wished that his uncle had been around too. Their conversation turned to Nelle as Michael filled Jason in about Frank Benson and about Nelle's schemes. Michael explained that Nelle couldn't stop lying, so he'd suggested they take a break because he'd needed space. However, Nelle had kept pushing, and because of that, it was over. Michael pointedly admitted that things might have worked out if Nelle had given him time and space.
At Elizabeth's house, Jake/Jason arrived to see little Jake. Jake asked if Jason could stay for dinner, but Jason admitted that he had to go to Sam's mother's house. Things became awkward when Jake asked about Patient 6, so Elizabeth suggested that Jake take some chips to his brothers. After Jake scampered upstairs, Franco slipped into the kitchen to check on the turkey. Jason was relieved that his son and Elizabeth didn't have doubts about his identity.
Jason admitted that Sonny and Carly had let him down because they believed Patient 6's claims. It made Jason crazy that everyone believed Patient 6 without any proof or information about the man. Elizabeth advised Jason not to stress about things because it would only make matters worse, but he told her that it was easier said than done. She reminded him that the answers were on their way, and she had faith that he would find the answers he was looking for. Nearby, Franco's expression was troubled as he watched Elizabeth and Jason.
Moments later, Robin stopped by. Elizabeth was elated to see her friend, but the smiles faded when Jason greeted Robin. He immediately noticed that Robin was reserved, so she admitted that she'd met his brother, and she believed that Patient 6 was the real Jason Morgan. Elizabeth decided to check on the boys and excused herself. Jason was hurt and confused because Robin had been the one who'd found him at Crichton-Clark.
Jason reminded Robin that her research and treatment has saved him, and they had rescued each other. Robin acknowledged that he had saved her life, but she insisted that he wasn't the real Jason Morgan. Jason wondered how that was even possible, so Robin suggested that perhaps Helena had tampered with his memories. Jason flatly rejected the idea because he didn't just remember his life, including his relationship with Robin; he felt all the emotions.
Robin reminded him that what they knew for certain was that he had a twin, and he was Alan Quartermaine's son. He was also Scout's father, and all the people he cared about still cared about him. Jason wasn't satisfied because he needed the people he cared about to believe that he was the real Jason. Robin couldn't give him what he needed, so she decided to leave.
At the penthouse, Sam called out to Danny to pick a toy for himself and one for Scout then return to the living room because they had to get to his grandmother's house. Sam muttered under her breath that she hoped her mother hadn't gone to visit Julian in prison to wish him a happy Thanksgiving. She glanced at her daughter then went to the door to answer a knock. It was Jason/Patient 6.
11/22 Sam was shocked to open her door to Jason/Patient 6, who asked to be let in to talk to her about something important. He informed her that Diane was working on proving that he was Jason, but he would tell her to stop if that was what Sam wanted. He continued that he would never use his name again if it would make things easier for Sam.
Sam wondered what Patient 6 would do, "leave?" She informed him that no one would ever let him leave after five years of missing him. She thought that he shouldn't leave because, even though things would get worse before they got better, they had to have the truth in order to move on.
Just then, Danny descended the stairs and recognized Patient 6 as Sam's friend. He invited the patient along to Alexis', but he said he was going to a friend's. The three exchanged good wishes for Thanksgiving, and the patient left. Danny said that he liked the man, and Sam told Danny that the man was "someone special."
Jake/Jason arrived at Alexis' and wondered where Sam was. A few minutes later, Sam entered with the kids. Jason asked where she'd been, but Alexis called out that dinner was ready. As she carried the turkey out, she tripped, and the turkey slid across the floor.
As Carly wondered if Oscar's dad had ever been in the picture, Josslyn and Oscar returned downstairs to report that Avery was still asleep. Sonny returned and announced that dinner would be ready soon, but Carly insisted that they had to wait for Jason. Just then, the doorbell rang, and Carly let Jason in. Kim looked at Jason wide-eyed and muttered, "Drew?"
Monica sat alone in the Quartermaine house with her turkey burger. She reminded herself to "sing first, then eat." Just then, Ned and Michael led everyone from Dante and Lulu's and everyone from Alexis' in song into the Quartermaine living room, each carrying a pizza.
11/27 Sam descended the stairs and assured Jason that the kids were asleep. Changing the subject to business, Jason wondered how Sam had liked the candidate for their job opening at Aurora. She replied that she'd liked the man, and Jason only hoped that it was still their job to give away. He remarked on how everyone at Monica's had looked at him like he was a stranger.
Sam assured Jason that, even if Aurora failed, they would still have their family. Jason countered that Patient 6 had convinced everyone that he was the real Jason, so Jason was afraid that Sam would be convinced as well. She promised that he would never lose her because he was her partner in "business, life, and parenting," and she loved him with everything she had. He thanked her for her words, and she promised to say them however many times she needed to in order to comfort him. They shared a kiss that turned passionate, and they soon began to undress.
Sonny entered his living room with Jason/Patient 6 and introduced Oscar and Kim to him. "Drew?" Kim asked, and she bolted to him, her hands on his face. The patient removed her hands from his face and told her that she had mistaken him for someone else. Carly told Kim that the patient had a twin brother named Andrew, but they had been separated at birth. She wondered how Kim knew Andrew. She revealed that she'd known him "from a million years ago when I lived in San Diego."
Kim had to go help a colleague with a presentation, so she excused herself and Oscar. Before she could leave, Carly asked for some answers. Through Carly's questioning, Kim revealed that she'd met Andrew, who was a Navy SEAL, at a bar. They'd run in the same social circles, and he'd even dated her friend. She smiled as she remembered how nice, honest, and hilarious he was. She hadn't seen him since then and claimed to have no idea what had happened to him.
Kim wondered what had happened to Patient 6. He summarized that he'd been gone, he didn't know where, for five years, and all of his loved ones had thought he'd disappeared. Kim wished she had been more helpful and gathered her things. Carly informed her that Andrew was in Port Charles, and they would surely "re-meet," as it was a small town. They exchanged pleasantries, and Josslyn walked Kim and Oscar out.
Sonny thought the fact that Andrew was a Navy SEAL explained his abilities with fighting and weapons and how calm he was in crises. Carly confided that, for the first time, she was thinking about the life that Andrew had left behind. Outside, Kim was clearly shaken and flustered. Oscar asked if she was all right, and she insisted that she was. "As long as I have you," she told him, and she pulled him into a tight hug.
11/28 At the penthouse, Jason and Sam were snuggled on the sofa in the living room while a fire crackled in the fireplace. Sam assured Jason that he was still her husband. Jason smiled, but he needed the proof that he was who he claimed to be. Sam decided to liven things up and suggested that they celebrate by opening the bottle of wine they'd been saving for a special occasion. She opened the liquor cabinet as Jason walked up behind her and slid his arms around her waist. He proposed that they grab a bottle of tequila and a set of dominoes instead because he felt like reliving one of his favorite memories, but Sam assured him that he didn't need to do that.
After Sam and Jason grabbed the tequila and dominoes, they sat down in the living room and drank shots. Jason talked about the stormy night when Sam had made him realize that he still possessed empathy, sorrow, and love. He admitted that she'd made him whole again, just as she had earlier that evening. Sam conceded that she and Jason had evolved. She raised her glass then talked about the past being in the past and the present being in the present. Jason told her that the future was for them to learn about running a media empire, enjoying good wine, and "eating beets."
Sam laughed and playfully scolded Jason for going too far. They each drank a shot then agreed that tequila was better than wine. Jason smiled then nuzzled his wife's neck as he suggested they go to their bedroom. Jason and Sam made it as far as the stairs when someone knocked on the door. Jason was surprised when he opened the door and saw Josslyn and her friend. Josslyn introduced Jason to Oscar, who looked at Jason with an expression of wonder as he shook Jason's hand.
Jason was impressed with Oscar's firm handshake. Josslyn greeted Sam and admitted that she had hoped that Sam and Jason were still awake. Jason admitted that he was a night owl because he liked to feel like he was the only person awake in the world. Oscar smiled because he did the same thing for the same reason. Sam was curious if Carly knew that Josslyn and Oscar were there, so Josslyn shook her head. She offered to call Carly if it would make Sam feel better, but she explained that they had stopped by because Oscar needed help finding a lost
person.
Later, Jason returned from putting Danny back down. Sam smiled and praised Jason as a father. Josslyn agreed that Jason was a great dad. Oscar smiled, but the conversation turned to his research, which Josslyn had claimed was for a school project. Jason was curious what the class was, so Oscar claimed it was a forensics class. Jason was suspicious, but the questions were cut short when someone knocked on the door. It was Oscar's mother. Kim Nero introduced herself then asked if her son was there.
Oscar was stunned that his mother had tracked him down, but she reminded him of the tracking app that they had downloaded on his phone. Josslyn implored Kim not to tell Carly about the app, but Kim didn't make any promises. Kim wanted to know why Oscar was there, prompting Sam to tell Kim about Oscar's class project and Oscar's interest in finding a lost person. Kim apologized then promised to have a talk with her son. She ordered Josslyn and Oscar to grab their things because she intended to drop Josslyn off on the way home.
In the hallway, Oscar told his mother that the man she'd met was "the other" Jason then added that he might be Andrew Cain. Kim glanced at the closed door then told her son that she felt bad for the man because it was a difficult situation. She warned Josslyn that she intended to let Carly know what had happened. Kim instructed them to meet her out front then left to fetch the car. Josslyn admitted that she was in a lot of trouble.
In the penthouse, Jason told Sam that he'd had a "weird vibe" from Kim. He had a feeling that he might have met her before.
11/29 At the police station, Dante entered the squad room and was told that he had a visitor. Dante saw Patient 6 standing at his desk, so he approached and greeted him. Dante admitted that he'd known the truth as soon as he'd seen the security footage from the night Patient 6 had jumped through the skylight at Metro Court Restaurant. However, he'd avoided meeting Patient 6 because his twin had saved Dante's life, and Dante considered him a friend. However, Dante couldn't deny what was staring him in the face. "Welcome home, Jason," Dante said as he held his hand out to Jason.
After the two men shook hands, Jason explained that Diane was working on proving his identity, but Dante thought that Diane should focus on keeping Jason out of jail because Dante knew that Jason's hearing for the assault on Franco was later that day. Dante recalled reading the report of the brutal and unprovoked attack, but Jason insisted that Franco had provoked him in a way that only Franco could. Dante nodded in understanding then offered to testify on Jason's behalf if Jason needed him. Jason thanked Dante then revealed that he wanted to look at the file from the night he'd been shot by Cesar Faison.
A short time later, Jason sat in the interrogation room as Dante handed the file to Jason, but Dante insisted on remaining in the room because he couldn't risk the file leaving the building. Jason opened the file as Dante told him that his twin had tried to distance himself from Sonny's organization, and Dante had hoped it would rub off on Sonny.
Jason reminded Dante that Sonny had tried to retire, but Dante argued that it had only lasted until Sonny had been shot. Dante doubted his father would retire when he had Jason to protect him again. Dante loved his father, but he hated what Sonny did, and Jason's presence would only enable Sonny to continue his life of crime. Dante liked Jason, but they would always be on opposing sides. Jason read the file, so Dante asked what Jason was looking for?
Jason admitted that he hoped to find something that would tell him where he'd been for five years. Dante doubted that he would find it in the file because Bernie hadn't revealed much before he'd died, and all Sam had found had been a figurine that she'd given Jason. "A phoenix," Jason remembered. Dante thought it was appropriate, but Jason remained focused on the file because he was certain that Faison had some answers. Dante explained that Faison was a fugitive, and the only thing that they knew for certain about Faison was that he was obsessed with Anna.
A short time later, Patient 6/Jason paid Anna a visit and asked her to help him track down Faison. She admitted that she had no idea where Faison was, but Liesl Obrecht might.
At the Floating Rib, Mac, Felicia, and Sam set up for a party as Sam told the Scorpios about Danny's obsession with Monica's dog. Moments later, Liesl entered the bar and warmly greeted her in-laws in German then coldly added "and guest" as she looked at Sam, but Sam refused to rise to the bait. Lulu joined the group, and seconds later, Nathan and Maxie entered. Mac was eager to know what the couple had to tell them? They shared the news that they were expecting a baby.
Maxie mentioned that she and Nathan had shared the news with Georgie earlier that morning, but Georgie had been confused because she couldn't understand how her sibling could have the same mommy but a different daddy. Maxie immediately apologized when she saw the expression on Sam's face, but Sam assured Maxie that it was okay.
Sam chatted with Lulu and Sam about the Man Landers scandal. Maxie wanted to know who had leaked the story and ruined her career, so Sam offered to look into it because it would help keep Sam's mind off of other things. A short time later, Robin arrived. Robin was thrilled when Maxie told her about the baby, and they agreed that Noah and the new baby would grow up to be the best of friends.
At the bar, Lulu talked to Sam about Lulu's decision to pursue a career in journalism. Lulu revealed that she'd been writing for a local parenting magazine, and she'd posted a few blogs. She was curious if Jason and Sam were hiring, so Sam jotted down Peter August's number and instructed Lulu to let him know that Sam had sent her. Sam explained that she and Jason had hired Peter to help them run Aurora Media.
Robin took a moment to talk to Sam and apologize for her role in adding to the confusion about Sam's husband. Robin admitted that when she'd seen Sam's husband at the clinic, she'd assumed that he'd been Jason because she hadn't known about his twin. Robin told Sam that she understood what Sam was going through because of what had happened with Patrick and Sabrina, but Sam asked Robin to stop. Sam immediately apologized and admitted that she was on edge, but she suggested that they focus on Maxie. Robin took the hint, but she asked Sam to call if Sam ever wanted to talk.
After Robin walked away, Nina approached Sam and asked if she was okay? Sam explained that people kept telling her that they knew that she was confused, but she wasn't. Sam assured Nina that she had all the answers she needed, but that didn't seem good enough for anyone.
11/30 At Pozzulo's, Sonny wrapped up a call in his office. Patient 6/Jason thanked Sonny for setting things up, but Sonny admitted that he didn't think it would do Jason any good because the woman would only help if it benefited her. Jason pointed out that he could return to Russia for answers, but Sonny objected because Jason was needed elsewhere. Sonny handed Jason a file as he explained that it was a report on the damages and the repairs needed on Sonny's island in Puerto Rico.
Sonny asked Jason to review the report because he might need Jason to fly to the island and oversee the reconstruction. Jason set the report on the desk then followed Sonny into the restaurant just as Liesl arrived. She greeted Sonny, who in turn introduced her to Jason. Liesl smiled politely then followed Sonny and Jason into Sonny's office. Liesl let him know that Nathan knew about their meeting. Sonny assured her that there was nothing to worry about because Jason only had a few questions.
Liesl questioned if the man in Sonny's office was the real Jason Morgan because she'd been under the impression that it was still up for debate. Jason cut to the chase and explained that he was determined to figure out where he'd been for the past five years and why he and his twin were walking around with the same memories. Jason had hoped that Cesar Faison could fill in the blanks, but Liesl denied knowing Faison's whereabouts or how to reach him.
Jason was curious if Liesl knew why Faison had targeted him, but she didn't. However, she suspected that it was because Jason Morgan had been considered a valuable asset as an assassin, which would have been useful to someone like Faison, if Jason could be controlled. Satisfied that Liesl had revealed what she knew, Sonny decided to walk her out. He promised to return in time to take Jason to Jason's court hearing.
Jason sat down at Sonny's desk then picked up the report, but he heard a noise in the restaurant, so he decided to investigate. It was Spinelli. Jason smiled at his friend. "It's you," Spinelli said with wonder, but his smile vanished because Jason hadn't made any overture to see him. Spinelli suspected that it was because Jason harbored a grudge, since it had been Spinelli's software that had identified Andrew as Jason.
Jason assured Spinelli that he didn't blame Spinelli because Andrew was Jason's identical twin, which meant that the software had worked. Spinelli was relieved, but he wanted to know why Jason hadn't called. Jason admitted that he'd been reluctant to put Spinelli in the middle because Jason knew that Spinelli loved Sam, and Sam loved her husband. Spinelli was filled with regret because he had embraced Andrew as Jason, which was why he'd officiated at Sam and Andrew's wedding.
Jason was surprised, but Spinelli promised that he hadn't known about Jason's twin. Jason asked if Sam had been happy at the wedding because that was all that mattered to him. Spinelli confirmed that she had been, but Spinelli believed that it was because she hadn't known about his long-lost twin. Spinelli insisted that Jason, not Andrew, was Sam's soul mate, so they needed to find a way to reinsert Andrew back into his old life. Spinelli decided it would be his mission to help Jason reclaim his life, but Jason made it clear that he had no intention of breaking up Sam's family.
Spinelli argued that it was Jason's family, but Jason reminded him that Sam had a daughter. "The wee but mighty Emily Scout," Spinelli said with fondness. Jason smiled because Sam had named her daughter after his sister, Emily. Spinelli pointed out that Danny was Jason's son, which meant that it had been Jason's family first, but Jason admitted that it didn't matter because he was about to be prosecuted for assaulting Franco. Jason and Spinelli entered Sonny's office as Jason filled Spinelli in about the altercation with Franco.
Jason promised to make Franco pay, but he refused to plead temporary insanity to avoid a trial. Jason knew exactly what he'd done. Moments later, Diane arrived. She warmly greeted Spinelli then revealed that she was confident that District Attorney Campbell would likely tank his career if he pursued the charges because she intended to put the victim on trial by having a parade of witnesses, including Sam, Michael, and Dante, testify about what Franco had put them through. Spinelli approved.
Seconds later, Sonny entered the office and asked if Jason was ready. Jason invited Spinelli to join them, but Sonny objected because he was worried about an outburst. Spinelli promised to control himself. Diane and Spinelli followed Sonny and Jason out, but Diane lingered behind as Spinelli collected his things in the restaurant because she wanted to know about Andrew Cain. Spinelli assured her that his research had proved fruitful.
At the penthouse, Jake/Jason greeted his wife as she returned home, but he was curious why she wasn't at work. Sam confessed that she had left some paperwork at home. She picked up a binder from the desk and showed him the notes that she had jotted down. Jason was impressed, but she assured him that she was determined to make Aurora Media a success. Jason reminded her how she had bragged about her private investigative skills to Josslyn's boyfriend, so Sam shifted gears and asked if Jason recalled where he'd met Kim Nero.
Jason admitted that he'd thought about it, but Kim's name hadn't been familiar. Sam suspected that Josslyn and Oscar hadn't stopped by because of a school project. Jason seized the opportunity to let Sam know that he'd heard from Curtis and that Curtis had a lead on Andre. Jason hoped that Curtis caught up to Andre soon because Jason was eager to prove that he was Jason Morgan, again.
Later, Sam talked to Jake/Jason about hiring a full-time nanny to help with childcare because they would be busy with Aurora Media, but Jason didn't like the idea of a stranger living in their home. The conversation was shelved when Carly stopped by. Carly knew that Jason felt like she had betrayed him, but she revealed that she might have found someone who could clear things up.
Carly told Sam and Jason about Kim Nero, and how Kim had mistaken his twin for a Navy SEAL from San Diego named Andrew Cain. Surprised, Sam quietly admitted that Jason had thought that he had recognized Kim. Carly perked up because she was certain that it was significant, but Jason downplayed the incident and expressed his frustration because he was tired of having the same conversation with Carly.
Carly urged him to meet with Kim because it might help him remember his past and who he really was. "I know who I am," Jason growled. "My name is Jason Morgan," he added. "If you can't believe that then go to hell," Jason told Carly. Carly knew that it was difficult for him because he was walking around with Jason's memories, but he insisted that they were his memories.
Carly conceded that both Jason and Andrew had been horribly misled, but she was certain that Kim could provide some answers. Jason informed Carly that he wasn't interested in meeting a stranger, so Carly decided to be direct and told him that she was certain that he wasn't Jason, and she urged him to face that fact. "Carly," Sam warned, but Carly ignored her and told "Andrew" that it wouldn't hurt for him to talk to Kim. He cut Carly off when his phone chimed because it was a text message from Curtis.
Elizabeth followed Franco into the squad room just as Diane, Sonny, Spinelli, and Patient 6 arrived. Tensions were high as Patient 6 glared at Franco, but Elizabeth reminded Franco of their talk. Resigned, Franco announced that he had decided to drop the charges. Diane was pleased because she was confident that Franco would have lost in court. Campbell left to take care of the paperwork, but Franco wanted a thank you from Patient 6. Patient 6 refused because he wasn't grateful.
Franco was furious that Jason/Patient 6, a killer, would judge him. Franco resented that Patient 6 claimed to be a good guy because he killed out of a code of honor, while Franco was the bad guy because of the terrible things he'd done. Franco thought it was all so simple for Patient 6, but Franco had suffered from a brain tumor that had driven him to do the things that he'd done. Franco explained that his brain tumor, and his actions, had been explained by science, and he didn't need Jason to believe it because Franco knew that he'd been physically and mentally unable to stop himself from doing awful things.
Franco suggested that Patient 6 follow his twin's example and learn to accept the idea of Franco's existence. Elizabeth decided to calm things down and pulled Franco into the interrogation room. She thanked him for dropping the charges then told him that she was proud of him and that she loved him. She hoped that people would eventually see the Franco that she saw. "A good and honest man," she added as she hugged him. Franco's expression was troubled.
In the squad room, Spinelli was disappointed that he wouldn't get to see Franco "crucified" in court. Jason vowed that Franco would pay, but Diane advised Jason to be careful what he said because he was in a police station. Moments later, Carly arrived, followed by Sam and Sam's husband. Carly revealed that they might get some answers just as Jordan and Curtis arrived with Andre in handcuffs.
12/1 Andre arrived with Curtis and Jordan at the police station, where everyone had gathered for the trial of Patient 6 vs. Franco. Jason ordered Andre to announce that he was the real Jason. Elizabeth berated Andre for hurting Jake, and Jason pounced on the doctor as well. Diane suggested that if everyone were willing, they could settle the twin issue then instead of dragging it out in court. Both of the twins were amenable. Franco reluctantly stayed because Elizabeth wanted to stick around. Diane confirmed that while it wasn't an official proceeding, the same laws still applied, like Andre's Miranda rights.
Andre spoke of his design to transfer a memory, which would have been a great procedure with someone with dementia. He'd begun his research with the WSB, but they had ended the program due to questionable ethics. An unknown party had paid him to continue and had wanted the procedure performed on identical twins. He had agreed to the test on Jason Morgan and Andrew Cain.
Both Andrew and Jason had been sedated and unconscious, and he'd never spoken to them. He had been willing to perform the procedure for the good of the medical field. He had imprinted Jason's memory to Andrew, much like a copy made on a Xerox machine. It had resulted in Andrew thinking that he'd led Jason's life. He had no idea why the unknown benefactor had wanted the procedure performed on those two men. Later, he'd been advised to relocate to Port Charles in order to monitor one of the twins. A furious Jason jumped onto Andre, and both Sam and Curtis wrestled him away.
Jason accused Andre of pretending to treat Jake, but Andre insisted that he hadn't been pretending. As Andre tried to explain the medical jargon and usage for the procedure, it was Sam's turn to lose her temper. She shouted that Andre had sold Andrew's memory and made money from the procedure. Andre continued that he had been sent to monitor Andrew. "You're Andrew," he said, looking at Jason. Andre turned and looked at Patient 6. "And you're Jason," he said. Everyone's mouths were open as they all looked at one another. Sam turned to Andrew, the man she had known as Jason.
The newly named Andrew accused Sonny of paying for Andre to lie and of selling him out. He declared loudly that he would not accept that he was Andrew. Sonny firmly denied any involvement. Jordan announced that it was time for Andre to be taken to booking. The doctor apologized to Andrew, who didn't want to hear it. Spinelli made it known that he had some proof. Andrew accused Spinelli of creating fake data, though Spinelli denied that he would ever hurt anyone. He had a photo of Andrew Cain, Navy SEAL. It was a photo of the man with Andrew's original face -- Jason's.
Apparently, Andrew had disappeared in 2012 after a very distinguished military career. Coincidentally, he had vanished shortly before Jason had gone missing. Spinelli believed that the backer had absconded with Andrew in preparation for the procedure. "The road to hell is paved with speculation," Diane called out. She suggested that Spinelli stick to the facts. Spinelli informed everyone that the newly named Andrew's fingerprints on file be compared to the Navy SEAL's fingerprints. Jordan sat at a computer and shortly after, her search revealed that the prints were a match.
Andrew still believed that the system could have been hacked, and he would have wanted to see a hard copy of the prints. Curtis thought that no hard copy would change anything. The man he knew as Jason was really Andrew Cain, Navy SEAL. Andrew insisted that the only thing he remembered was Jason's life.
The group began to split up. Spinelli felt bad for Jason and all that he'd lost, but it was "an honor and a privilege" to be Jason's friend. He gave his friend a hug and suggested drinks to celebrate Jason's rightfully acquired identity. Sonny and Carly were all for drinks, but Diane remarked that Jason had to stick around to finish paperwork. Jason thanked Sonny and Carly for being there for him.
In the interrogation room, Sam tried to comfort her husband. "You're a hero," she told him. Andrew replied that he had no connection to Andrew Cain. The whole thing had been a "slow-motion nightmare," he continued. His long-lost twin had reappeared, but Andrew was the one who felt lost. He was afraid that everything would be taken away from him. He went out to the front and confronted Jason. "We are not brothers," Andrew said. He didn't care what the DNA said. "Take care of yourself," Jason replied.
Franco and Elizabeth returned to the hospital. Franco confided that he had been disappointed with the result. At least he and the Jason with the new face had been able to talk to one another. He'd never be able to do that with the real Jason. Elizabeth noted that she'd have to explain everything to Jake, but she wasn't in a hurry. She knew that Jason would never demand to see him first. She had faith in Jason. Franco was not happy.
12/4 Jason stood on the pier, and Alexis emerged from the shadows. She had wondered when she would run into him. She asked where Sam was, and he answered that she was with Andrew. Alexis admitted to being relieved with his answer. She recalled how "broken" Sam had been when Jason had disappeared, and she asked him to "consider this a second chance." She went on that Sam had a new life, and she begged him not to make Sam give it up.
Alexis continued that she knew that Jason loved Sam, but she urged him to let her go. Andrew was a good man who had left the mob for his family, and she didn't want Jason pulling Sam back in. Jason related that he'd never told Sam what to do, and he didn't intend to start. Alexis hoped that Sam had matured enough to know that Jason was no longer an option for her, and she left.
Sam looked at the picture of Andrew in his uniform. "Any idea where we go from here?" Andrew asked her. "Home," she said simply. Andrew commented that home seemed "as unreal as I am." Sam took his face in her hands and insisted that he was real, and their relationship, home, and family were real. She assured him that she loved him for him, not for his name. They embraced, and she urged him to "talk to me, Jason." He reminded her that she couldn't call him that anymore, and he emotionally emptied his wallet of everything that said "Jason Morgan."
When Sam stopped Andrew, he wondered what they were going to tell Danny and if she wanted him there when she talked to him. She promised him that they would figure out the best way together. He could see that she loved him, but he didn't want to keep her in something she didn't want to be in. He told her that, if she wanted to go back to Jason, he wouldn't stand in her way. She gave him a speech about how she couldn't imagine her life without him and that nothing had changed between them. "It would have killed me if I lost you," he admitted.
Andrew just wanted to figure out who he was, and Sam promised that they would do it together. He wanted some time alone to think, so he kissed her and left. She watched him until he left, then looked at his old picture again. Alexis entered and informed Sam that she'd run into Jason. She asked how Sam was doing, and Sam answered that she was "overwhelmed." Alexis wondered if she could say one thing because she was worried.
Alexis knew that Jason had been a huge part of Sam's life, but she urged Sam to think about her children before going back to Jason. "Like you thought of yours when you were with Julian?" Sam muttered. Alexis said that at least Sam knew what happened when a loved one was in the mob. "I can't breathe," Sam said, and she left.
Andrew was standing on the footbridge when Oscar approached. He apologized for intruding on Andrew, but he hadn't known anyone was there. Andrew thought it was a good place to think and welcomed Oscar to stay. As the two used some of the same small mannerisms, Andrew told Oscar that there was plenty of room there for both of them.
A crying Sam arrived at the pier. She heard footsteps, and Jason approached. The two only looked at each other until they walked closer to one another. "It's gonna be okay. Whatever happens, it's all gonna work out," Jason assured her. "Thank you," she said, wiping tears away, and Jason left.
12/5 At Aurora Media, Sam entered Drew's office as he wrapped up a business call and finished up some paperwork. Drew admitted that it was the first day of the rest of their lives then tossed the Jason Morgan nameplate into the trash can. He told her that he'd gone to the footbridge to think, but he'd realized that it hadn't been his special place -- it was his brother's. Drew explained that he remembered giving money to the city to commemorate the spot that he'd met Robin, but it was Jason's memory.
Sam pointed out that the past three years had been real, and those were Drew's memories. Drew took her hands then kissed them tenderly as she assured him that she and the children were real.mDrew acknowledged that things had been difficult for Sam, but she assured Drew that he was the man she had married and was in love with. She promised that she hadn't married him because of his name; she had married him because of who he was.
She told Drew that she thought about him from the moment she woke up until she went to bed. She reminded him that he'd given her a beautiful daughter, and he was the man who had taken a bullet for her. Sam knew that he credited her with bringing him back when he'd been in a coma, but Drew had done the same for her. Sam suspected it was so that they could both be reborn and start brand new together. "I love you, Drew. So much," Sam told him.
Drew smiled because it was the first time that Sam had called him by his real name, and she had told him that she loved him. Sam advised him to get used to it and started to kiss him. Kim appeared in the doorway and smiled nervously when she saw Drew and Sam being affectionate. She softly knocked on the door then apologized for intruding, but she admitted that she had wanted to talk to Drew about her son.
Drew assumed that Oscar had sneaked out the previous evening and confirmed that he'd seen Oscar on the footbridge, but Drew thought that Oscar seemed like a good kid, so he hoped that Kim wasn't too hard on Oscar when she punished him. Sam seized the opportunity to reveal that Carly had mentioned that Kim had known Drew in the past. Sam admitted that they would love for Kim to help them fill in the blanks, but Kim claimed that she'd only known Drew for a short time in the early 2000s when Drew had been stationed in San Diego.
According to Kim, they had lost touch shortly after Drew had been deployed. Drew apologized to Kim because he didn't know the man she had known, and he needed time to figure things out. Kim wished Drew luck then started to leave, but a uniformed man entered Drew's office and identified himself as Chief Locke, Master of Arms. Chief Locke informed Drew that he was under arrest for desertion.
12/6 In the squad room, Sam objected to anyone taking her husband away because she questioned if the uniformed men were really with the Navy. She reminded Nathan and Dante of the men who had followed Jason to town and had abducted her during the launch party. Nathan agreed that Sam had a point. Dante was curious why the Navy lawyer was in a rush to take his prisoner away. The lawyer warned Dante that he refused to get into a jurisdictional power play with the local police. Frustrated, Sam entered the interrogation room where Drew sat handcuffed to the table.
Drew asked Sam what was happening, so she admitted that they would need a miracle because the Navy lawyer was determined to court-martial him for desertion. Drew couldn't believe that he was being held responsible for a life he couldn't remember. Sam insisted that he wasn't a deserter because he'd been kidnapped by one of the most wanted criminals in the world, but Drew feared that it might be too difficult to prove.
Drew pointed out that three-quarters of his service record had been classified, which meant that the Navy was concerned about what secrets he might have revealed, and to whom he had divulged them. Sam told Drew that it was imperative to do everything possible to keep him in Port Charles. Drew assured her that whatever happened, he would find his way back to her. Sam kissed her husband. "I'm counting on it," she said.
Later, Jordan arrived as Sam claimed that Drew hadn't done anything wrong because he'd been kidnapped, but the Navy lawyer was unmoved. Drew assured Sam that everything would be okay. Just then Alexis marched in and announced that she represented her daughter's husband. The Navy lawyer was not amused and warned Alexis that her attempt to circumvent his authority wouldn't help her client, but Alexis wasn't intimidated and handed the man an injunctive relief signed by Judge Chua.
Alexis explained that the warrant had been issued for Andrew Cain, but her son-in-law's name was Jason Morgan. The lawyer was aware of the theory that Drew had been abducted, but Alexis assured him that it wasn't a theory. The lawyer argued that for all he knew, Drew had fabricated the story in order to enjoy a life free of his commitments to the Navy. Sam tried to use the picture of Drew prior to his accident as proof that her husband wasn't the same man that the Navy wanted, but the lawyer told her that the fingerprints in the Navy records had matched the ones in the police department's records.
Alexis seized the opportunity to explain that her client couldn't be removed from Jordan's jurisdiction because his arrival in Port Charles had been connected to the WSB's most wanted criminal. She warned the Navy lawyer that Jordan would lose her only lead to Cesar Faison if he took Alexis' client. Jordan pointed out that Judge Chua had already made the decision for them with the injunction. The lawyer warned Jordan and Alexis that he intended to talk to the judge.
After the Navy lawyer stormed away, Sam thanked Alexis, but Alexis acknowledged that it had been a delay tactic because the judge would change her mind when she saw the warrant. Nathan returned to the squad room and took Drew to lockup. Drew realized that Alexis wouldn't be able to get him out of jail, so he asked Nathan to help Curtis look after Sam and the kids because Jason would draw danger too them, and Drew no longer trusted Sonny.
In the interrogation room, Sam and Alexis discussed Drew's options. Alexis believed that Andre was their best hope, but Sam wondered what they could do if Andre refused to help. Alexis admitted that they would need more ammunition, but Alexis had no idea how to get it. "I can," Sam told her.
12/7 In lockup, Drew glared at Andre as a guard escorted Andre to a jail cell across from Drew's. Andre started to apologize, but Drew informed Andre that the Navy had charged Drew with desertion. Drew had no idea that he'd been a Navy SEAL; howver, he was certain that Andre had known but hadn't said anything. Instead, Andre had allowed Drew to live a lie. "Yes, I did," Andre admitted. Drew told Andre that Andre was lucky that metal bars separated them because Drew was certain that he could kill Andre.
In the squad room, Alexis reminded Sam that the injunction was only a temporary solution. Alexis wouldn't be surprised if Commander Fuller had already persuaded Judge Chua to vacate the injunction. Sam suggested that they change tactics, so Alexis assured Sam that she would understand if Sam wanted to find an attorney who was more familiar with military law. Sam admitted that she had a better solution.
At Sonny's place, Sonny asked Jason if there had been any news from Spinelli. Jason revealed that Liesl had bought a burner phone right after their talk, and Spinelli was trying to trace it. Moments later, Jason's phone rang. It was Sam. Sam told Jason that she needed his help then revealed that she was at the police station. Jason assured her that he would be right there then ended the call.
Sonny wanted to know what was going on, but Jason had no idea. However, Sam needed him, so Jason was determined to help. Sonny asked if Jason wanted backup, but Jason declined. Jason hated leaving Sonny to deal with Spinelli because he knew that Spinelli annoyed Sonny, but Sonny assured his friend that it wouldn't be a problem.
At the police station, Sam told her mother that she had called Jason, but Alexis noticed that Sam hadn't mentioned Drew's situation when Sam had talked to Jason. Alexis thought that Sam was asking a lot of Jason by expecting him to help the man who'd been living Jason's life and was married to Sam. Alexis decided to make some calls to see if she could find someone familiar with military law because they couldn't depend on Jason.
A short time later, Jason entered the squad room. Sam thanked him for being there then revealed that she needed him to help his brother Drew. Surprised, Jason asked what she wanted him to do. Sam led him to the interrogation room, closed the door, and explained Drew's situation. She was desperate to keep the Navy from taking Drew away because she feared that they might treat him like a traitor because Drew had been privy to classified information. Jason assured Sam that he would help in any way that he could.
Alexis and Commander Fuller entered the interrogation room, but Fuller stopped short when he saw Jason. Fuller realized that "Chief Cain" really had a twin brother. Sam asked Fuller to hear Jason out, so Fuller and Jason sat down as Jason told the commander his story about being abducted in 2012 and having no idea what had transpired during the intervening time until a few months earlier. Jason filled the commander in about Andre's project, but he made it clear that he would never have consented to participating in Andre's experiment if Jason had been given a choice.
Jason was confident that his brother hadn't been a willing participant, either, because Drew's service record showed that Drew had enlisted right out of high school, and he'd been a dedicated member of the armed forces. Jason explained that Cesar Faison had been behind the abductions and that Faison had once headed the DVX and was wanted by both Interpol and the WSB. Jason had no idea why he and Drew had been taken, but he insisted that Drew hadn't returned to the Navy because Drew hadn't remembered his past.
Commander Fuller decided to call his superiors in Washington to see how they wanted him to proceed. Alexis was curious if Fuller intended to make a recommendation, so he acknowledged that the situation was unique. Alexis walked Fuller out while Sam stayed behind and thanked Jason. Jason assured her that he would always help her, but his phone chimed with a text message from Sonny.
After Jason left, Alexis returned to her daughter's side and conceded that Jason had been convincing. Sam hadn't had any doubts that he would be because Jason always did what she asked of him, regardless of the cost. Alexis hugged her daughter because she had no idea how Sam would be able to live like that. Sam didn't either.
Elsewhere, Sonny and Jason were armed as they stood before a door. They nodded to each other then Jason kicked in the door. Both men stood in the doorway as Sonny frowned at the sight that greeted him.
12/8 At the Port Charles Police Station, Drew found a waiting and relieved Sam and assured her that he had been released. He added that there would be a formal inquiry at a later date, but he would remain free. He was thankful that Sam and Alexis had testified on his behalf, but Sam confessed that Jason had played a big role.
"He's the reason you're free," Sam declared. She admitted that she had called Jason, who had arrived looking the way Drew had looked before. He had explained everything to the Navy personnel, and they had believed him. "Guess I'm lucky," Drew said. Sam thought they were both lucky to be going home.
With guns drawn, Jason and Sonny broke through the door of an apartment and found Britt Westbourne inside and alone. "Don't shoot!" Britt shouted. She insisted that her father had left her because she had grown tired of being on the run. She asked about Spencer, but Sonny told her gruffly, and in no uncertain terms, that he would not discuss the little boy with her. "Tell us what we need to know," Sonny ordered.
Britt noted that she had met Jason briefly in 2012, but she didn't know anything about Faison's involvement with him. She wondered if Sonny's daughter had been familiar with all of Sonny's criminal activities. Jason informed her that his son was living with a man who was not his father as everyone had thought. "Your father did that," Jason stated. He proceeded to tell her all about his identical brother and what had transpired during the previous five years.
Sonny peppered Britt with questions, and Britt informed him that she only knew that her father had had an arrangement of some sort with Helena Cassadine. Jason continued to press Britt for answers, and she kept insisting that she didn't know anything. Jason thought that she looked as though she had some information, and Britt admitted that the first and only time she'd heard of Jason was after he had jumped through the skylight. Her father had been angry because he had believed that Jason was dead. Britt added that her father had spoken of being double-crossed, and she believed that he had gone to look for the traitor. The guys thought that that person might very well be in Port Charles.
Drew and Sam ended up at the park, and they ran into Franco, Elizabeth, and Jake. The little boy mentioned the great fishing trip he'd been on with his father. Drew handed him some money to try to win a toy for Scout at one of the games. Sam spotted Elizabeth's engagement ring, and Franco suggested that they discuss it before Jake returned because he knew that they weren't happy about it. Drew admitted that he didn't care because he wasn't Jake's father.
Elizabeth made it known that she believed there was no rush to tell Jake the truth about Drew and Jason. Drew pointed out that it was public knowledge, and it was better that they tell him themselves. Jake returned without the stuffed animal and asked for more money, but Elizabeth told him they needed to talk to him. She and Drew walked away with the boy while Sam remained behind with Franco.
Sam wondered if Franco feared Jake learning the truth about him, and she spoke of their history. Franco thought they'd arrived at a truce, but Sam stressed that she had scars. Franco retorted that he'd noticed that she hadn't been surprised when the real Jason had been revealed, and he accused her of pretending to stand by Drew. Sam gave it back and accused Franco of pretending he would be getting married to Elizabeth before she ran to Jason
instead.
On a nearby park bench, Drew and Elizabeth gently explained the truth to a confused Jake. He began to cry and refused to accept that Drew was really his uncle and not his father. Drew acknowledged that he felt like Jake's father and always would. Jake only wanted one father, and he wanted it to be Drew. He sobbed on Drew's shoulder. Drew admitted there would be changes, but they had no idea of what things would be like.
Elizabeth advised her son that everyone wanted Jake to be okay, so they would take it slowly. "You'll always be my dad," Jake said to Drew. They embraced and headed back to Sam and Franco. Jake asked about his relationship with Danny and Scout. He learned that Danny was really his brother, and Drew informed him that Scout would always be his sister. Drew gave the boy more money to try to win the toy for his little sister. They hugged again and professed their love for each other. All of the adults were visibly upset.
At Sam and Drew's place, Drew sat with his daughter in his arms. "At least I know you're mine," he told her. He and Sam would have to tell Danny, but Sam was certain that Danny would handle things well. Drew knew that Jake would not. Sam assured Drew that he would still be in Jake's life.
A knock on the door revealed Kim, who wanted to see Drew. Sam took the baby and headed upstairs. Kim was happy that things had worked out with Drew. She knew he didn't remember, but he'd been proud to be a Navy SEAL. Sam returned and listened from the top of the stairs as Kim continued speaking. She and Drew hadn't known each other for a long time, but their relationship had been intense. "Oscar is your son," Kim said as Drew looked at her in disbelief.
12/11 Jason clarified with Britt that Faison had ordered the eventual traitor to kill Jason. Britt replied that Faison had thought that Jason was dead. Sonny questioned where Britt and Faison had been before they'd arrived in Port Charles. She responded with a list of European cities in addition to St. Petersburg, Russia. Sonny and Jason speculated that Faison was trying to figure out where else the traitor had betrayed him. Britt added that she believed Faison had gone to Port Charles in order to kill the traitor but hadn't been able to.
Jason spotted something in the fireplace and pulled out what looked like a burnt manuscript. The title page read "The Severed Branch by P.K. Sinclair." Britt recognized the name as Faison's penname when he'd written his spy novels in the eighties. However, Britt didn't think he'd written the book, as it had just shown up, and it had seemed to spook Faison. Before Faison had left, he'd thrown the book in the fireplace and told Britt that, if she didn't want to go with him, she was on her own.
In return for answering all of Sonny and Jason's questions, Britt asked about Ben, even though she knew he went by Rocco. Sonny sincerely told her how well Rocco was doing, and she thanked him for sharing. Sonny reminded her that she couldn't have any contact with Rocco or Spencer, and she promised not to. Sonny told her that he was going to call Dante and tell him that Britt was there. She offered to save him the trouble and turn herself in, as she was tired of running.
When Britt was gone, Sonny and Jason agreed that they believed her. Jason thought that Drew might have seen the person Klein had been working for when he had been taken. Sonny reminded Jason that Drew only had Jason's memories. Jason remembered that Andre had taken a "baseline" of Drew's memories, so he wondered if Andre could give Drew's memories back.
Drew let Kim into his home, and she cut right to the chase. "Oscar is your son," she said as Sam listened from the top of the stairs. Sam descended the stairs, apologizing for eavesdropping, but Drew wanted her there with him. Kim explained that she and Drew had "hit it off fast" and had only been together for a few months before he'd been scheduled for deployment. She'd found out about her pregnancy weeks after he'd been deployed.
Drew was sorry that Kim had had to go through everything alone, but he wondered if she'd even tried to contact him. She revealed that she hadn't been able to get in touch with him because his mission had been classified, and she wasn't family. She hadn't told his superiors that she was pregnant with his child because she hadn't wanted them to know before Drew.
After a few years of not wanting to just drop a bombshell on him, she'd thought that he deserved to know. She'd contacted the Navy in 2013, and they'd told her that Drew had deserted. She apologized, but he recognized that she'd only done what she'd thought was best. Kim left what happened next up to Drew. He wanted some time to think first, and Kim offered to get a DNA test done if that would make him feel any better. She thought she owed Oscar some answers, so she excused herself. Before she left, he asked her what Oscar was like. "He's a fine young man like you were," she said, smiling, and she left.
Drew didn't know how to process the new information, and he wondered how he was supposed to make up for all the years of Oscar's like that he'd missed. "You can't," Sam answered, and she added that he would "start from here." He felt bad for Sam, as she hadn't signed up for that. She reminded him that they both knew he'd had a life before they'd met. She promised that she was "in it for the long haul." She added that if he wanted to pursue a relationship with Oscar, she was "all in."
12/13 At Aurora Media, Sam entered Drew's office and asked how he'd been holding up. He assured his wife that he was getting the hang of things, but she explained that she hadn't been talking about work. Drew admitted that it had been a bit overwhelming to learn that he had a twin and a son, so Sam assured him that they would figure things out together. Drew appreciated her support, so she smiled and offered to get him some coffee.
At the door, she told Drew that she loved him. Drew smiled, but when Sam left, he opened a screen on his computer to Oscar's social media page. A short time later, Jason appeared in the doorway. Annoyed, Drew told his twin that Sam wasn't there, but Jason wanted to talk to his brother about Andre Maddox's backer, Cesar Faison. Jason reminded Drew that Faison had shot Jason on the pier five years earlier when Jason had initially vanished.
According to the police reports that Jason had read, the police had had dive teams in the water within fifteen minutes of the shooting. Drew realized that Faison had had someone waiting to fish Jason out of the water. Jason agreed, and he added that whoever had pulled him out of the water had taken him and Drew to Dr. Maddox. Drew didn't understand what Faison had gained by having Drew take Jason's place. Jason had no idea, but he revealed that Faison had recently been in Port Charles.
Jason told Drew about his encounter with Britt and about Britt's claim that the plan had been to kill Jason after Jason's memories had been transferred to Drew. Jason was confident that Faison was not interested in Jason or Sam and the children, but Drew wasn't convinced. Jason believed Britt and her assertion that Faison was running scared, but Jason suspected that Drew might have some buried memories that could help Jason get to the bottom of things.
Drew insisted that Andre's procedure had worked because the only memories that Drew had were Jason's. Jason pointed out that if Andre's procedure had been a success, then Drew would have been exactly like Jason, but Drew had made different choices than Jason would have, which meant that Drew Cain might still be buried inside. Drew acknowledged that it was possible, but there was no guarantee that he could access the memories.
Drew knew it had been difficult for Jason to return home and find someone else living his life, but it had been difficult for Drew, too, because Jason's appearance meant that everything about Drew's life had been stripped away. Drew pulled out his military file and dropped it on the desk as he told his brother that all Drew knew about his life was in the slim folder. Drew admitted that he had stared at the file, hoping that it would spark a memory, but it hadn't.
Drew was curious why Jason believed that Drew might remember Faison. Jason didn't have an answer, but he was certain the memory was there. Jason talked about the brain damage he had suffered and how it had erased the first twenty years of his life. Jason pointed out that Drew's memories were only buried, not gone, so Drew just had to find them. "Maybe," Drew conceded.
However, Drew pointed out even if he could flip a switch and get all his memories back, it wouldn't be his life anymore. Jason understood his brother's dilemma and thanked him for his time. Jason started to leave, but Drew asked Jason to let him know if there was a lead on Faison and if Jason needed help. Jason agreed.
Monica greeted Sam when she arrived at the Quartermaine mansion. Sam revealed that she had stopped by because she was worried about Drew. Sam explained that he didn't feel like he had a lot of people in his corner, so Monica promised to call Drew, but she wished that she could do more to help him than just listening. Sam assured Monica that it was enough, prompting Monica to ask how Sam was doing. Sam conceded that it hadn't been easy because it seemed like she and Drew never had a chance to catch their breath.
Alarmed, Monica asked if something had happened. Monica was stunned when Sam told her about Oscar. Monica also recalled hiring Oscar's mother, but she was curious if Drew had had contact with Oscar. Sam confirmed that he had talked to Oscar, but it had been before Drew had known that Oscar was his son. Monica wondered how Sam had been handling everything Sam admitted that it had been a lot to deal with, but she assured Monica that she loved children.
Monica cut Sam off because she had noticed that Sam hadn't said Jason's name. Sam defensively reminded Monica that she was there to talk about Drew, but Monica knew better. Monica was certain that Sam had known the truth about Jason the moment that Sam had seen him and that Sam had focused all of her attention on Drew because she'd known that his life would be uprooted.
Sam clarified that she had focused her attention on Drew because he was her husband, and she loved him. Monica reminded Sam that Drew had had another family. Sam quickly explained that Monica had gotten the wrong idea because Drew and Kim had barely known each other, and they hadn't been in love. Sam assured Monica that it hadn't been like Drew and Kim had had a picture-perfect life. "That would be you and Jason," Monica said.
Frustrated, Sam admitted that she couldn't even say Jason's name, let alone be around him, because she was always flooded with memories. Monica wondered if Sam's feelings for Drew had changed, but Sam insisted that she loved her husband, and they had built a life together. However, Sam didn't know how things could keep going as they were. Monica agreed that things would eventually reach a head.
On the pier, Jason encountered Sam as she gazed out at the water. Sam tried to leave, but Jason asked her to wait and not walk away. "Just talk to me," Jason implored.
12/14 On the pier, Jason asked Sam not to walk away. He wanted her to talk to him, but Sam was curious what they should talk about. Jason knew that Drew was no longer in jail, but he was curious if everything had worked out with the Navy. Sam assured Jason that the Navy had dropped the charges against his brother, and she credited Jason with helping Drew. Sam thanked him, but Jason assured her that it was fine then turned to leave. Sam's eyes filled with tears as she asked Jason to stop because she wanted to thank him for helping Drew.
Jason reminded Sam that she had already thanked him, but she insisted on doing it properly. Jason was curious why she was mad at him. Sam admitted that it hadn't been fair of her to ask him to get involved in Drew's problems, but she'd done it, anyway, because she knew that she could rely on Jason to fix things. Sam explained that listening to Jason tell his story had made her realize that she'd been so focused on Drew that she hadn't paid attention to Jason and how everything had been taken from him. "It's okay," Jason told her, but Sam disagreed. Sam tearfully confessed that she didn't know what else to do because she loved Drew.
"I know," Jason admitted. Jason started to leave, but Sam asked if everything was okay with Sonny because she recalled that Jason had left the police station to meet him. Jason filled Sam in about the lead on Cesar Faison and Faison's belief that Jason had been killed after Andre's procedure. Jason had no idea who had double-crossed Faison, but the person had saved Jason's life. The conversation turned to the night that Jason had been shot as Sam told him how she had put on a wetsuit and dived into the frigid waters to desperately search for him because a part of her had never believed that he had died. Sam revealed that she had often gone to the piers and gazed out at the water because she'd been waiting for his return.
Sam had thought Jason had returned, but it had been his brother. She confessed that it hadn't changed anything, knowing that Drew wasn't Jason, because she could never regret loving Drew. Jason's expression clouded with pain, but Sam didn't notice because her gaze was fixed on the water. Jason started to reach for Sam, but he dropped his hand and told her about the manuscript that had spooked Faison. He assured Sam that Spinelli was looking into it, but she was curious why Jason hadn't reached out to Spinelli sooner.
Jason admitted that he'd been reluctant to put Spinelli in the middle because he knew that Spinelli and Sam were friends. Sam was grateful that Jason had asked Spinelli to find Drew's service records, but he admitted that Diane had asked Spinelli to dig them up. Jason revealed that Spinelli felt like officiating Drew and Sam's wedding had been a betrayal, but Jason had assured Spinelli that Spinelli couldn't have known. Jason thought it might help if Sam talked to Spinelli too. Sam gasped when she realized that the wedding ring she wore was from Jason, not
Drew.
12/15 At the pier, Sam realized that the ring she had been wearing really belonged to Jason. She was no longer married to him, and she thought that she should return it. She explained her history with Drew to Jason and how she'd received the ring that had belonged to Lila. It had been Jason's ring to give, not Drew's. Jason seemed to ignore her remarks as he tried to tell her about Faison and the person who had hired Dr. Klein. Sam was angry that he seemed to be ignoring her, but Jason told her that Faison was the reason behind her receiving the ring from Drew. He was also concerned about a threat to his family. He would need Drew's help. Sam looked scared.
Jason hoped that Drew would remember the person responsible for his disappearance and be able to retrieve his memories. Sam stated that she'd married Drew, and they had a family. She was happy with him, and she could not go back and undo what had happened. She couldn't keep the ring. Their fingers touched as Sam attempted to hand Jason the ring. It was electric for both of them, but he refused to accept the jewelry. They agreed that she should give it to Danny, who could give it to his love some day.
Sam went to the Aurora office to see her husband. She disclosed her accidental meeting with Jason at the pier. Drew asked whether she was okay, and Sam admitted it had been intense. "One thing led to another," and she'd realized that she had still been wearing Jason's ring that had belonged to Lila. She said she planned on giving it to Danny. Drew removed his own ring and replied that it would be for Danny also. Drew thought they probably shouldn't be wearing rings, anyway, since they weren't really married. Drew explained that their marriage hadn't been legal, but he had meant his vows. He needed to say them in his own name. Drew repeated his vows. "Would you marry me?" he asked Sam.
12/18 Drew informed Sam that their marriage wasn't legal, as he'd married her as Jason. He swore that he'd meant every word of his vows, but he legally needed to say them under a different name. "Will you marry me?" he asked her. Sam didn't think a name changed anything, but he replied that he wanted things to be legal. Sam admitted that she hadn't thought of all the complications of changing legal documents, but Drew assured her that "Alexis is on it."
Sam wondered how things had gone with Oscar, and Drew confessed that it had been awkward. She assured him that things would be fine after everyone adjusted. Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Oscar entered Drew's office. Sam excused herself to run errands.
At Metro Court, Jason briefly caught up with Robin on the phone. He revealed that things were "complicated" and admitted that he needed Anna's help. He asked Robin for Anna's contact information. Anna's phone rang. She answered it to Jason, who asked her to meet him at Metro Court about something important. She agreed and hung
up.
Sonny and Jason were discussing possible leads on Faison when Sam entered to talk to Carly. She told Carly that Aurora had never received a bill for the launch party, and she and Drew wanted to make sure that their debts were settled. They went out in the hall to talk, and Carly wondered why Sam was really there. Sam reluctantly told Carly that she and Drew had realized that they weren't legally married, so Drew had asked her to remarry him.
Carly wondered what Sam had answered. Sam admitted that they'd been interrupted. While Carly believed that Sam belonged with Jason, Sam insisted that she loved Drew, and a name shouldn't change anything. Carly noticed that both Sam and Jason were doing the "noble" thing, but it wasn't making anyone happy. Sam spat that Carly would do anything for her "best friend" and just wanted to give him whatever he wanted.
Carly assured Sam that Jason would survive without her if he had to, but she wanted Sam to be happy with Jason too. Sam admitted that she loved Jason, but she was in love with Drew. Carly advised her to be with the person who "gets you, otherwise, what's the point?" Carly knew it wasn't an easy situation to be in, but she promised to be on Sam's side for whatever she decided.
At a table in the restaurant, Jason explained to Sonny about the flash drive in an ornament. Sonny thought there were bigger problems than the flash drive. They discussed the possibility of tracing a paper trail of money, but Sonny revealed that the money had been heavily laundered. Anna entered the restaurant, and Jason told her about the flash drive in the ornament. She remembered the disco ball ornament that Andre had given her, and she ran off to get it.
Sonny wondered what Jason would do if he found the flash drive. Jason intended to ask Drew to undergo the procedure to get his memories back. If Drew refused, Jason believed that Drew could remember on his own. Drew would have been exactly like Jason if all of his own memories had been completely erased, so Jason thought that Drew's memories were still there.
Carly and Sam returned, and Sam went to the elevator without looking at Jason. Carly revealed that Sam was overwhelmed, and Carly thought that she'd just made it worse. Sonny advised Carly to continue being a friend to Sam. Just then, Jason's phone rang, and he answered it to Anna. Anna asked him to meet her in the park because there was a problem.
When Sam returned to Drew's office, Oscar was gone. Drew revealed that his conversation with Oscar had gone better than the last time they'd talked. He wondered how she was doing, as she'd left in a hurry after his proposal. She told him that she loved him and that nothing had changed between them, so she agreed to marry him. Drew replied that he'd realized that it wasn't right to ask her at that moment.
Drew explained that Oscar had had many questions that Drew hadn't been able to answer. He needed to try to get his memories back so that Sam would know everything about him like he did about her. He implored her to wait for him to find himself, and then he would ask her again. "I feel like we're meant to be. We're forever," he told her, and they shared a kiss.
Jason found Anna in the park. She explained that her housekeeper had made a mistake, and the disco ball ornament had been in with the donations. She'd gone through her box of ornaments, but only the disco ball was gone. She suggested that a child had picked it up, but Jason thought it was too much of a coincidence.
Elsewhere in Port Charles, the disco ball ornament was opened up and empty, sitting on a desk alongside a phone, a pen, and a pad of paper.
12/19 Sam was shocked to see Jason standing at her front door, but Drew assured her that he had invited his brother to stop by. Drew had tried to see Andre at the police station, but Andre had already been transferred. Drew had learned that Jason had been the last person to see Andre, and he wanted to know why. Jason explained about the baseline for Drew's memory and the information that had been hidden on the flash drive within the Christmas ornament.
Jason further revealed that Anna's housekeeper had put it in a box with other ornaments, and it was missing. It was complicated. They all agreed that someone had removed it from the box. Just then, Alexis and Danny returned from their outing, and Danny was happy to see his mother's friend.
Alexis left, and Danny told the adults about his day. "You look like someone," Danny said to Jason. He went on to explain that he'd seen photos of a similar man at his Grandma Monica's house. Jason replied that he knew her. Sam sent her son to the kitchen for a juice box, and Drew kissed the little boy. Awkwardly, Jason thought he should leave, but Drew announced that it was time the little boy knew the truth about his father.
Dvd #36BDanny returned and sat down with all of the adults. Sam noted how much she and Drew loved him and insisted things wouldn't change. She told him that her friend and daddy were brothers, there had been a mix-up, and her friend was Danny's father. His daddy was really his uncle.
The little boy took things in stride. "He loves me?" he asked about Jason. He began to pepper Jason with questions like where had he been, and why he hadn't said anything about it. Jason suggested that they'd had to figure things out. Danny agreed that he was ready to get to know Jason, and he and Jason hugged. The adults were all close to tears.
Jason put on his jacket and headed for the door. Danny suggested that he visit at Monica's house. Drew nodded at him. Danny dashed off to play, and Sam cried over how difficult it had been. Drew was sorry she was going through it, and his own heart was in pieces. Sam assured him that he wasn't losing her or his kids, but Drew reminded her that he didn't know who he was. He had nothing to give her.
Sam insisted that she knew that Drew was the man she loved, and he was a husband and father. She accused him of taking his marriage proposal off the table, and she turned and proposed to him instead. She got down on one knee, and a teary Drew told her to remember the moment. He agreed to marry her.
12/21 Jason met Josslyn at Kelly's, and Josslyn told him about Avery's exciting Christmas morning. She handed Jason a wrapped gift, which was the gift she'd gotten for Jake from Jason. She explained that, since Jake liked to draw, she'd gotten a sketchpad and colored pencils. He thanked Josslyn for her help and got up to leave. On his way out, Oscar arrived at the diner, and Jason greeted him.
Jason entered Liz’s house with Jake's gift just as Jake descended the stairs. "What's he doing here?" he demanded to know. Elizabeth reminded Jake that Jason was Jake's father. "I already have a dad. I don't want you here," Jake said as he stormed back upstairs. Franco followed closely after. Jason put the gift under the tree as Elizabeth explained that Jake was overwhelmed, so they would have to take things slowly. "Whatever he needs," Jason
agreed.
Elizabeth took the opportunity to tell Jason that she and Franco were engaged. While she didn't expect him to like it, she did expect him to accept it. "It's your life," he conceded. Elizabeth insisted that Franco was a different person, especially because of the removal of his brain tumor. Franco listened as Elizabeth vouched for him to Jason. Jason asked Elizabeth to tell Jake that he would be there if and when Jake was ready to see him, and he left.
Sam descended the stairs after getting Scout to sleep, and she told Drew that she didn't want to wake Scout up to go to Monica's. She urged him to go without them until Scout was awake, but he revealed that he had a gift for her first. He got down on one knee and opened a ring box to reveal a sparkling engagement ring. He regretted that he hadn't planned something more special, but she just wanted him to put the ring on her finger. They declared their love for one another and shared a kiss.
A short while later, Drew was gone, and Sam looked at her engagement ring from Jason, the lug nut on a silver chain. Just then, there was a knock on the door, and she opened the door to Jason. Jason had a gift for Danny, who had gone to the Quartermaines' with Drew. She offered for him to leave it under the tree, so he entered and placed the package under the tree. He reminisced about the tiny tree they'd had one year, and she smiled remembering it. He noticed her engagement ring, and she informed him that she and Drew were getting married.
Sam continued that there was a huge legal mess outside of their marriage, including the facts that they were living in Jason's penthouse and that Aurora had technically been bought with Jason's money. Jason insisted that they stay in the penthouse, as it was Sam and Danny's home. As for Aurora, he informed her that Diane was drawing up paperwork so that Aurora would stay in Sam and Drew's hands. She knew that it was a lot to ask of him, but he told her to think of it as a Christmas gift. They wished each other a merry Christmas, and he left.
Jason returned to Kelly's and found that Josslyn was still there. She asked about how Jason's sons had liked their gifts, but he revealed that he'd had to leave both of their gifts. Josslyn told him that Milo was waiting for her outside, so he could catch a ride to Sonny and Carly's with her. He promised to be there soon. She knew that Carly wouldn't want Jason spending the holiday alone. He hugged her, telling her that he'd see her soon, and she left. Jason remembered himself and Sam setting up their tiny tree in the penthouse.
At the Quartermaine house, Sam let herself and Scout into the house and got them situated. Oscar entered shortly after, and Sam introduced him to his little sister. She wondered if he was going to stay, but he wasn't sure. She knew that change was scary, but she assured him that his past would always be a part of him. Just as she urged him to stay, Drew emerged from the living room, glad to see Oscar.
Ned began to strum chords on the guitar, and he broke into "Silent Night." Members of the family joined in at various points in the song. Sam descended the stairs after putting Scout down and remembered her and Jason getting their tiny tree and setting it up in the penthouse.
12/22 Jason arrived at the Corinthos home and told everyone about the bad storm. Carly was excited that her favorite men would be stranded at the house overnight. Michael thought that it was time to hear the story of how he had received the Corinthos name. He explained that he had decisions to make if Nelle's baby were really his, and he wanted an understanding of his choices. Carly walked over to Sonny and grabbed his hand.
Carly explained that she had been "messed up" and had had an affair with her mother's husband, Tony, to get back at her mother because Bobbie had given her up. Carly had moved in with Tony after he and Bobbie had separated, but everyone had been miserable. She had also slept with A.J., who had suspected that Carly's baby was his. Both he and Tony had tried to prove that she'd been an unfit mother in order to take the baby.
Carly had lied and had told everyone that the baby belonged to her good friend Jason. She had found Jason on a very rainy day and had confessed her misdeeds to him. It had been the best thing to happen to her, and Jason had looked after her. A.J. had filed for custody of Michael, and Carly had then decided to marry A.J. instead. She had planned on driving him to drink to prove that he was the unfit parent. She had hated living in the Quartermaine mansion. Jason had left Port Charles, but Sonny had returned from Puerto Rico, and she had started seeing him. She had been pregnant again, and Sonny had blackmailed A.J.
Sonny had loved his new little family, but then Carly had lost the baby after A.J. had pushed her down the stairs. Michael had connected Carly and Sonny, and both Sonny and Jason had taught her how to be a parent. "Loving you made me a better person," Carly told Michael. The doorbell rang, and Michael found a near-frozen Nelle standing there. She fainted in his arms.
Shortly after, Nelle woke up. She was lying on the sofa with a blanket over her as the others stood around her. She explained that she hadn't been able to find a place open for dinner, had driven around, and had been stopped by a downed tree. She had gotten out of her car for some reason and had started walking. Sonny handed her a mug of hot broth, and she asked Michael if he was worried about the baby. Michael assured her that he was, even if it turned out that he wasn't the father. Nelle promised they were fine.
Jason found Carly sitting in another room by herself. She declared that she wasn't okay, but she wouldn't start a fight because that was what Nelle would want. It was the same thing as her showing up on Jason's doorstep so many years before, Carly noted. Jason felt it was different. Carly handed him a gift that was "mostly symbolic." It was a house key because she wanted him to consider her home his own. It was the same as when he'd given her a key to his place so long before. "Welcome home," Carly said as she hugged him.
Later, Carly headed downstairs and announced that she'd readied a room for Nelle. The young woman mentioned that she was tired from walking in the snow. She thanked everyone for their kindness and headed upstairs. "Nelle can't win," Carly said. She added that they'd been through a lot worse. Sonny proposed a toast. "To those we love, to those we lost, and those who came back." He was there thanks to Carly and Jason, and they all had each other's backs.
12/26 Peter found Sam sitting at her desk at Aurora. He was confused and wanted to know who actually owned the company, as Jason's name appeared on the documents. Sam assured him that she and Drew owned the company because Jason had no interest in it and had given the company to them. Peter wanted it to be on the record. He also asked for a chance to interview Sam, Drew, and Jason for a story that the public wanted to hear. Sam declined numerous times. "It's one hell of a story," Peter declared.
"Not unless you're the one living it," Sam retorted. Peter provided some company statistics and told Sam about how well the Ask Man Landers story had done. He didn't want to keep pressing, but he suggested that if they printed something about Drew, perhaps someone who had known Drew in the past would be able to provide some information.
Sam stopped at the hospital to see Dr. Nero and told her what Peter had said about trying to find someone from Drew's past. She asked Kim how she and Drew had met, and Kim was happy to disclose what she could. She revealed that she had met Drew in a bar in San Diego, and he'd been in his dress whites. He'd been charming, polite, and funny. Their relationship had been all about the present time, as Drew would only be in the area for about three months. They had known they had no future together. He'd been on top-secret missions, had grown up in an orphanage in upstate New York, had seemed lonely, but had enjoyed high school.
Sam thought that maybe something from the past would jar Drew's memory. Kim didn't think she had enough information to be helpful, but she was appreciative of Sam's acceptance of Oscar. Sam admitted that she was happy for Drew and Oscar.
Sam returned to the penthouse as Sonny was leaving. He told her he respected her choice, and he advised both Sam and Drew to call on him if they needed anything. "What just happened?" Sam asked her husband. Drew explained it as "two guys coming to grips with reality." His life was not based on Sonny's but on Sam's.
Kim visited with Sam and Drew and handed Drew a CD. It was the mix he'd made for her when they had dated. She thought that listening to the music might help him to remember something.
12/28 Jason appeared on New Year’s Eve, and Carly was happy that he would be spending the night with them. However, Jason informed them that he had a plane to Russia to catch in order to look for Faison. Just then, Jason's phone rang, and he walked away to answer the call from the airline. Carly told Sonny that Jason needed to be there for Sam, and Sonny demanded that Carly drop whatever she was planning. She claimed that she needed to talk to her head chef, but instead, she ran into the elevator.
Jason returned and revealed that his flight was going to be delayed. Sonny suggested that Jason's need to leave immediately had more to do with staying away from Sam. Jason answered that the situation had been killing Sam, and he thought distance would make things easier for her. Jason continued that Sam had made her choice, and he needed to honor it.
Sonny didn't want him to disappear, but Jason insisted that he wouldn't leave his kids and his life in Port Charles. He related that he'd gotten lucky with Danny, but Jake wanted nothing to do with him. He thought some "breathing room" would be good for Jake. He thought that Sam and the kids deserved happiness, and a safe, stable life, which he couldn't give them, but Drew could. Sonny insisted that Jason was the one that Sam was meant to be with.
In the Aurora office, Peter proposed a toast to Sam, Drew, Dante, Lulu, Nina, Maxie, and Nathan. "To a great new year at Aurora," he said. Nina complimented the Champagne, and he revealed that it had been a gift from the landlord, Carly. Peter wondered about Sam and Drew's plans for the company in the new year, but Maxie reminded him that it was a holiday.
Carly crashed the party and wondered if everyone would be attending her party at Metro Court. Sam revealed that she and Drew had rented out the Haunted Star for the night. Drew wanted to see Monica before their date, so he kissed Sam goodbye and left. Carly noticed Sam's ring and learned that Sam and Drew were going to get remarried. She congratulated Sam, who was happy for the "fresh start."
When Carly was gone, Maxie approached Sam and demanded to know what she was planning on wearing to the Haunted Star. Sam wasn't planning on changing, so with Nina's permission, Maxie dragged Sam to the Crimson closet while calling out to Nathan that she'd meet him at the party.
At the Haunted Star a short while later, Sam emerged in a red dress but didn't think it felt like something she would wear. She changed into a black dress but couldn't decide. Maxie assured her that both dresses would match the white coat she'd gotten. Maxie took Sam's leather jacket and left Sam to decide.
Carly returned to the party, and Jason informed her that his flight had been delayed. Carly remarked on how well Aurora was doing thanks to Jason giving it to Sam and Drew. Jason loved Carly but didn't need her to fight his battles for him. Carly refused to apologize, because she believed that Jason and Sam belonged together. Just then, she claimed to get a text message from Sonny asking for Jason to meet him at the Haunted Star for some information on Faison. Jason ran out.
Sam was looking at the white coat that Maxie had gotten for her when the door of the Haunted Star slammed open. She called out for Drew but was shocked when Jason entered.
12/29 Sonny asked Carly where Jason had gone, and she pretended not to know. He asked Carly what she had done. "Let nature take its course," Carly said proudly. Carly admitted that she might have arranged for Sam and Jason to be stuck on the Haunted Star. She had paid the bartender to tamper with Drew's car. Sonny suggested that Drew would figure it out and blame Carly, but she wasn't bothered. She believed that Drew would never be happy with Sam because Sam wouldn't be happy without Jason.
Sam was startled when Jason rushed onto the Haunted Star and announced that he was there to meet with Sonny. The ship began to drift, and in a panic, Sam realized that the ship had been set to autopilot. She ran to turn it off but was unsuccessful. The ship pulled away from the pier. They were adrift because she had turned off the engine.
They would be stuck for hours, and she couldn't call Drew without phone service. Sam was frantic. Jason blamed himself because he realized that Carly had sent him there. Carly had taken things too far, Jason declared. Sam replied that Carly had been trying to convince her to change her mind about Jason and Drew.
Jason went behind the bar and found a game of dominoes. He challenged Sam to play like old times and advised her that the loser would have to down a shot of tequila. "You're on," Sam proclaimed. As they continued to play several rounds, they doubted that Carly had had that in mind when she had set them up. Jason explained that Carly had felt guilty for pushing Sam to Drew, but Sam quickly assured Jason that she loved Drew and hadn't been pushed. They talked about old times. Jason was glad that Sam hadn't waited for him. He missed her but was glad that she was happy.
Sam realized that Jason was letting her win so that she didn't have to drink too much because he was "too polite to get a lady drunk unless she's your lady to take care of." She also realized that she'd never seen Jason drunk. They decided that it wasn't a good idea to continue, and Jason suggested they go on deck to watch the fireworks. He helped her on with the new white coat that Maxie had picked out.
Sam wondered if Jason had donated the money to build the footbridge in order to watch the fireworks. He agreed that he had, but he'd had many reasons to do so. They watched the fireworks, and Sam called them beautiful. Jason said beautiful as he stared at Sam. They began to dance together, both having flashbacks to the past, and they shared a kiss as midnight arrived.
1/2 On the deck of the Haunted Star, Sam and Jason shared a kiss in the midst of the fireworks. They pulled apart and looked at each other awkwardly. Jason offered to attempt to fix the engine, and Sam teased him about his skills. "So what's going on here?" Drew asked as he appeared on the deck. He glared at the couple. Sam explained what had happened after she'd cut off the engine while the ship had been on autopilot. "Why are you here?" Drew asked Jason.
Jason stated that he had thought he was meeting someone at the ship. Sam jumped in to say that she'd tried to call Drew but had not had any service. Drew added that he'd had car trouble, which he'd found peculiar. Suddenly, he realized that Carly had been behind it. Jason declared that he would speak to Carly. "Tell her to back off, or she's gonna create a real problem for you and I," Drew snapped.
Sam blamed herself. Jason announced that he would grab the boat that Drew had just arrived on. Drew accused Jason of knowing what Carly had planned and not being able to do anything for himself. Sam stated that Carly had no right to interfere, but she assured Drew that nothing had happened. Drew continued to glare.
Sam and Drew went inside. Sam insisted that Carly didn't run her life and that she took care of herself. Drew retorted that Carly didn't believe that. He was upset because he'd wanted to spend New Year's Eve with Sam. Suddenly, he spotted the dominoes and tequila on the bar and grew angry again. Sam reminded him that she and Jason had been stranded. Sam declared that they were living in a complicated situation, and she loved him.
She likened herself to any widow who had lost her husband and fallen in love again, but Drew reminded her that she wasn't a widow. Jason was still there. Sam clarified that her feelings for Drew remained the same, and she wanted to be with him. Drew only wanted her to be honest with herself, and he'd step aside if that was what Sam wanted. Sam told him that while Jason had made her who she was, she loved Drew and wanted to marry him.
She added that Carly could do what she wanted, but nothing would change. Jason was no longer able to offer her the things that she wanted. Sam maintained that none of them was responsible for the situation, only for how they would all deal with it. She didn't want Drew to fight. They kissed and decided to try to fix the engine.
Jason arrived, and Carly was clearly disappointed to see him so soon. Sonny grabbed Michael and walked away in order for Jason and Carly to talk. Carly asked Jason how mad he was at her? Jason shook his head. He said he wasn't mad and that he would always love Sam, but he wanted Sam to be happy. She was happy with Drew. He added that it hurt Sam when he was with her, and he couldn't be the one to cause her pain. He ordered Carly to stop.
1/4 Spinelli entered Sonny's office to find Sonny and Jason, and he remarked that it was like the "old days." Getting down to business, he revealed that the one lead he'd had had led to two more. Spinelli had called the publisher about the P.K. Sinclair manuscript, and the publisher had divulged that he already had a copy of the manuscript. Spinelli had hacked into the publisher's email, and he gave Sonny and Jason a copy of the exchange between the publisher and the anonymous author. He thought that there was a clue in the timing: the author had gone silent on September twenty-eighth, the day before Jason had broken out of the clinic in Russia.
Spinelli continued that he was investigating the location of the IP address from which the author's emails had been sent. Next, he took out a large manuscript. He explained that he'd scanned the existing parts of Faison's manuscript and used an algorithm to fill in some of the blanks. He told Sonny and Jason that the story was about a character, clearly based on Faison, versus a "newcomer" trying to take his place. The story ended with the newcomer addressing the Faison character as "father." "Did Faison have a son?" Spinelli asked.
1/5 Jason, Spinelli, and Sonny sat at Pozzulo's and pieced together the clues they had on the P.K. Sinclair manuscript. The men realized that Sinclair, the client who had been paying Dr. Klein, and Faison's traitor were all one and the same person. "Faison's son," Sonny declared. Spinelli was extremely excited. They discussed the Russian clinic tie-in and the fact that Faison's client hadn't had Jason killed as had been planned. Spinelli announced that he'd been able to trace a phone purchase and a phone call that Liesl had made to Faison. Sonny suggested that a chat and an espresso with Liesl were warranted.
Carly walked into the office at Aurora and found Sam sitting behind the desk. Sam stood and ordered Carly to stop forcing her and Jason together. Sam was annoyed and would not allow Carly to speak. Sam continued that it hurt her to hurt Jason, and Drew was her present and future. Jason belonged in the past. Finally, Carly managed to say that she had done some manipulating but had not been forcing the couple together. She just didn't want Sam to make the same mistakes that Carly had when she had been married to Jax. While she'd loved Jax, her first loyalty had been to Sonny, and she had broken Jax's heart. "Don't do that to Drew," Carly said.
"Don't do what to me?" Drew asked as he entered the office. He sarcastically asked if Carly had shown up to apologize. Carly insisted that she was sorry she'd hurt Drew and still wanted to be his friend and get to know him. She merely wanted to save him from being in a marriage to someone who loved someone else. She walked out, and Drew turned to Sam. "Well, is she right?" he asked.
Sam was adamant that Carly's life had nothing to do with her own, especially because Drew was a different person from Sonny. Drew asked what Sam wanted, and she assured him that she wanted what she already had. She wanted Jason to be happy, but he had to choose his own life. She pointed out that Drew had a past, and he also had to decide what he wanted. She wondered if he wanted to find out about Andrew Cain.
Drew thought that while he could go to the Navy and speak to various people about his past, he would do a disservice to anyone involved in his past by not reacting a certain way to various situations he might have been involved in. Sam tried to convince him that he knew himself regardless, and he knew what was in his heart. Drew wanted to be with Sam, and she suggested that they get married right away.
Back at Pozzulo's, Spinelli was distraught. His daughter would have a sibling related to Cesar Faison. Jason tried to give him advice. He advised that Spinelli not do what Jason had done after thinking that Danny had been Franco's son. Maxie would need Spinelli to be okay. Spinelli announced that they needed to locate Faison, and they all agreed that there was another son who was the traitor. They needed to find him in order to get to Faison.
1/8 In Sonny's office, Sonny and Jason talked about Spinelli's reaction to the fact that Faison would be related to his little girl, Georgie. Jason thought that while Spinelli had been in shock, he would eventually make it all okay for Georgie and Maxie. "He's odd, but he's a good guy," Sonny said. The men agreed that they needed to find someone else to help them locate Faison.
At the Aurora office, Sam assured Drew that he knew his heart even if he didn't have any details of his past. They both agreed that they wanted to be married for the new year, and Sam was excited. Drew read the fine print and realized they'd have to wait for 24 hours after getting the license. He wondered if they knew any judges to speed things up. Sam figured that Alexis would know some, but she didn't want to tell her mother, who would then spread the word. Their documents were ready, and they headed to City Hall.
Anna and Sonny found Jason out in the hallway. Jason confirmed that Faison had at least one son, Nathan. "How terrible for him," Anna muttered. The guys provided Anna with all of their clues and acknowledged that Nathan wasn't the son they'd been looking for. Sonny wondered if Faison might have had a child with another woman, and Anna disclosed that he'd had a henchwoman named Desiree. The woman would have done anything for Faison but she'd been dead for a long time. Anna doubted there would be any records of a childbirth.
Anna was adamant that Sonny and Jason not pursue Faison because she didn't want Jason to lose any more years of his life. She would pass on all they'd told her to the WSB, and she thought it best that the WSB look for Faison. After Anna headed back to Finn's room, Sonny declared that there was something Anna had been hiding.
Back in his office, Sonny spoke to Brick on the phone and asked him to track down information on Desiree. He proclaimed that he would love to shoot Faison after learning why he'd switched Jason and Drew. Jason felt that the reasons didn't matter because it wouldn't change anything. "Because Sam is staying with Drew?" Sonny asked. He wondered what had happened on New Year's Eve but Jason had nothing to share. Jason's phone rang, and it was Sam. She needed to see Jason, so he headed to Aurora.
Drew and Sam were disappointed when they returned to Sam's Aurora office. They would have to wait longer before getting married. Sam made a phone call to Jason, and she told Drew that Jason was on the way over. Drew wasn't sure whether to stay or leave, but Sam wanted to handle things alone. She wanted "minimum friction." Drew headed to his own office to wait. "Don't worry; I got this," Sam assured him. Shortly after, Jason arrived. "Hey," he said.
1/9 In the Aurora office, Jason arrived to find Sam sitting at her desk. She informed him that she needed a divorce because she and Drew had to get re-married. Their first marriage hadn't been legal, since she was technically still married to Jason. Sam advised him that it was important to her and her family, Sam advised him. Jason understood and said that he would sign the papers.
Sam explained that they needed to have a reason for the divorce, and there were only certain terms that they could use. Jason walked over and looked down at Sam's computer screen. "None of those are us," he said as he mostly looked at her instead. Sam agreed and was sorry about New Year's Eve. She admitted that she wouldn't have changed the past if she'd known what would happen to them, and Jason felt the same way. He wanted to make her happy, though, so he had no problem with getting a divorce.
Sam thought it was strange to say thank you for ending the marriage, and she wanted him to know that he'd made her happy and had shown her the way to be whole. She would never be able to repay him. "Just live," Jason said. He was happy that she would be getting the life that he couldn't give her. "Irreconcilable differences," he said as he headed to the door. "Because I love you and you love him."
Alexis arrived after Jason left, and Sam told her she wanted help with getting a divorce. She also mentioned that she and Jason had kissed on New Year's Eve. Sam thought it felt like she'd gone back in time, but she had to let it go. Alexis was willing to help with the divorce if it was for the right reasons.
She thought that maybe Sam shouldn't remarry right away because her emotions were high. She added that Sam should make peace about Jason before marrying Drew. Sam related that Jason was her first love, and she'd always love him. She had chosen not to act on it. She wanted to marry Drew because she loved him and their life together. Alexis agreed to help.
Jason found Carly in the restaurant, and she was happy to see him. She thought that Jason would be the only person to be able to reason with Michael. She wondered where he'd been when she called, and Jason told her about Sam's request for a divorce. Carly felt that Sam was rushing into marriage.
Carly added that Sam wanted Jason even if she didn't admit it, Carly added. She was worried about Sam, and Drew couldn't have a wife who loved someone else. She compared the situation to her love for Jax and Sonny and reminded Jason that Sam had been happy with him in the past, along with Danny.
1/11 Sonny promised Jason that Brick was on Faison's trail. Jason suggested that they use Faison's son to draw the criminal out. Diane entered to get Jason so they could finalize his divorce from Sam. Jason just wanted to give Sam whatever she wanted. "That's where I come in," Diane piggybacked. She intended to safeguard Jason's best interest.
Sam and Drew made a date for the approaching weekend and shared a kiss just as Alexis entered. Alexis summoned Sam to the courthouse, which Sam thought would just be signing paperwork.
In the conference room at the courthouse, Alexis made sure that Sam wasn't having any doubts about her divorce. Sam was frustrated that Alexis seemed to be sending her mixed signals, but Alexis insisted that she only wanted Sam to be happy. Jason and Diane arrived, and they sat at the table.
A few minutes later, Diane argued for Jason to keep the penthouse, but Jason wanted Sam to keep it. Sam wanted her and Drew to find somewhere else to live, and Alexis suggested six months for them to find a new home. Both Sam and Jason thought about some of the good memories they'd had in the penthouse.
Diane revealed that Jason wouldn't contest his ELQ stocks, and that Drew and Sam would pay Jason back for Aurora, including interest, in exchange for full ownership. Sam agreed, but Jason refused payment. Alexis reminded him that giving Aurora as a gift would cause scrutiny from the SEC. Jason and Diane agreed to waive the interest.
Diane continued that all of Jason's offshore accounts, holdings, and properties would remain his, as well as his half ownership of Corinthos coffee and his Quartermaine trusts. Sam and Alexis agreed. Diane added that Sam and Drew had been living off of Jason's money for two years, so they would need to pay that money back. "No, they won't," Jason interjected.
Diane rattled off Sam and Drew's lack of jobs and money, and Sam exploded that she knew that everything she had was because of Jason. "Enough," Jason stated. "What are you doing?" Diane demanded. Jason grabbed a pen and signed the divorce papers. "There. It's done," he said. Both Sam and Jason remembered happy times in their relationship, including their engagement and wedding.
"The money never mattered. I just want you to be okay," Jason told Sam as he handed her the paper to sign. "I know," she replied, ready to sign. Alexis advised Sam not to sign until they talked about a custody arrangement for Danny.
1/12 Jason gave the divorce papers to Sam to sign, but Alexis stopped Sam from signing them to discuss Danny's custody arrangement. Alexis thought that, while Jason was Danny's father, Drew was the father that Danny knew. Diane threatened to take Sam and Alexis to court, but Alexis countered that Jason had decided not to be a part of Jake's life because of the danger.
"Stop it," Sam shouted. She explained that she, Drew, and Jason had already talked to Danny about his paternity, and she refused to sign anything that limited Jason from seeing Danny.
Diane agreed with Sam and handed her the papers to sign, and she did. Alexis took the signed papers and told Sam and Jason that they were "free to move on." "Good luck with that," Diane scoffed on her way out.
Sam promised Jason that she would never keep Danny away from him, and he thanked her. Jason's phone went off, and he had to go. "See you around," he said, and he was gone. Alexis insisted that she was just doing her job by wanting to discuss Danny's custody. "Not anymore. You're fired," Sam replied angrily. Sam told Alexis that she wouldn't let anyone take Jason away from Danny ever again.
Alexis wondered if Sam trusted Jason to have custody of Danny if something ever happened to Sam. Sam did, but she knew that Alexis didn't. "This is my life, my kid, and my divorce, and I'll handle it how I see fit. Stay out of it," she said. Sam added that she didn't appreciate Alexis using her as a distraction from Julian, and she stormed out of the room.
Diane returned, and Alexis maintained that she was just doing her job. She reminded herself not to represent family, as Sam had gotten personal by trying to make things about Julian. Diane wanted to take Alexis out, so she suggested lunch.
"Why here?" Alexis asked Diane a short while later when they arrived in front of Charlie's. She didn't want to eat there because Julian owned it. Diane hoped that familiarity would "breed contempt." They entered the bar as Kim helped Julian with the coffee machine. He marveled at her getting the machine to work, and she replied that she had only turned it on. Alexis and Diane watched as Kim and Julian laughed together.
Sam entered the gym as Oscar was leaving, and Drew wondered how Sam's meeting had gone. She revealed that she was officially divorced, so they could get married. She added that money didn't matter to Jason, but Drew said paying Jason back for Aurora was about honor. Sam told Drew about the disagreement over Danny, and Drew agreed that they could figure things out themselves with Jason.
Jason arrived at Sonny's, and Spinelli was already there. Spinelli explained that he'd finally gotten ahold of P.K. Sinclair's email address, for which the account was still active. He'd created an email account to contact the author that could in no way be traced back to them. They speculated on how to get a response. Sonny thought the author was too intelligent to respond to a threat or a challenge. Spinelli suggested that they bait the author with what they knew he wanted: Faison.
Sonny thought it was too risky to pretend to be Faison, just in case the author was in contact with Faison. He only wanted to let the author know that he was on their radar. A few minutes later, Spinelli finished writing a short email, and Jason and Sonny approved it. Spinelli sent it and hoped for the best.
1/15 Jason, Sonny, and Spinelli sat in Sonny's office at Pozzulo's. Spinelli couldn't help but gloat over his brilliant email to P.K. Sinclair, though all he said was that he'd loved the novel and wanted to see more. He received a quick response. "Who is this?" the reply said. Spinelli responded rapidly in return. He mentioned that they had something in common and the anagram of Faison's name, Isaac Refson.
"Fact is stranger than fiction. We know who it really is. Your father," Spinelli concluded as he sent the email. Spinelli chuckled at his cleverness. Just then, Diane walked in and asked what the guys were up to. She noted that she was billing Jason as her client and hoped that he had something left for her. His Port Charles holdings had taken a hit, she announced. She assumed that they were all familiar with the fact that Faison was Nathan's
father.
An agitated Spinelli jumped up. The men were all under the impression that that had been secret. He had to leave right away to check on Maxie. Diane discussed the Faison situation with Sonny and Jason. If Faison saw Lulu's interview with Nathan, Faison would be on his way, and she hoped that if Jason and Sonny were to be arrested, they'd remain silent until she arrived.
She mentioned that Sonny would be chatty, though Jason had been a nightmare in civil court. She was still angry at Jason for signing everything over to Sam. She had the paperwork, and Jason was officially divorced. Diane stated that she'd done the best she could under the circumstances.
She and Jason began to argue. She thought that Jason had failed to make Sam happy because she would never be happy with Drew. Sam loved Jason, and even a lawyer could see that, Diane confirmed.
After Diane had gone, Sonny advised Jason that Diane was right most of the time, and Jason should go tell Sam he loved her. Spinelli's laptop beeped with the arrival of a new email. It said, "You mentioned a sequel. Clearly you haven't read the ending."
1/16 Jason and Sonny read the email from P.K. Sinclair that pertained to the ending of the novel. Jason informed Sonny that the novel ended with the son killing his father. "That's something we can work with," Sonny declared. The duo talked about Sinclair, and Jason clarified that he wanted to find Faison in order to learn why the criminal had switched him and Drew.
Sonny thought they should just kill Faison and not ask questions, but Jason wanted answers. Sonny didn't think he'd get any and suggested that Faison had wanted an enforcer that he could control. Jason sent a new email that read, "I can help you get the ending you want." "Now we wait," he said.
Just then, he received a call from Michael, who asked to meet with him at Kelly's because he needed some advice. Sonny decided to ask Spinelli to link up Sonny's email with the email address they'd been using. "P.K. Sinclair, come out, come out, wherever you are," Sonny said.
Jason met with Michael outside Kelly's. Michael revealed that he was going to be a father. "Wow," Jason said. He was happy for Michael and gave him a big hug. Michael admitted that he was both terrified and excited, partly due to an unstable Nelle. He was worried that the baby might not be okay.
Jason assured Michael the baby would be fine because it would have Michael as a father. Jason revealed that Michael was the first baby that he had ever held, and he had been scared, too. Michael had taught him how to be a father with "on-the-job training" and how to open up his heart and love someone more than himself. Michael knew that his life would change in a big way, but Jason told him it would be great. Michael would be able to experience all of the baby's firsts.
Jason was happy for Michael and happier for the baby. He encouraged Michael to call him for backup, and he told Michael to take a deep breath. He added that Michael could figure it out as he went along, and Nelle wasn't Michael's problem. Michael thanked Jason for the talk.
Elizabeth and Jake walked in to Kelly’s for some cookies. Jake happened to see Jason standing outside while Elizabeth placed the order, and he gave a little wave. Elizabeth joined him, and Jason waved back.
The Sinclair email sounded a response on Sonny's phone. It said, "We should meet." Sonny called Jason and advised him that Sinclair had taken the bait. "Are you ready for this?" Sonny asked. "I'm ready," Jason responded.
1/19 Sonny told Jason that once they drew Faison out, it was best to kill him, but it wouldn't give Jason back what he'd lost. Jason confided that, while he didn't approve of Carly's methods, his time with Sam on New Year's Eve had given them a chance to be together with no pressure and no one else's opinions. Jason remembered her saying that she'd changed in the past five years, but Sonny didn't think so. He knew that she'd love Jason forever, just like he loved her.
Sam returned home with her wedding dress in a garment bag. She informed Drew that the florist would be there soon, and so would the movers to move some furniture out of the way for their homebound wedding that night. A short while later, the doorbell rang, and Sam ran down the stairs in a robe. Expecting workers, she called out that she and Drew were running late, but she was surprised to open the door to Jason.
Jason entered and told her that he had something important to tell her and Drew. Right on cue, Drew descended the stairs. Jason informed them that he and Sonny were close to getting Faison out of hiding, so he wanted to give them a heads-up that things could get dangerous. Drew wanted to hear the plan, but he revealed that it wasn't the time, as he and Sam were getting married that night. Jason advised them to take the kids on their honeymoon and stay away for a little while. Jason congratulated the couple and left.
Drew revealed that he was taking Sam and the kids to Tahiti. He claimed to want to have a good time with his family, but she believed he wanted to get away because of Faison. He reasoned that he would always choose Sam over danger. While she was excited, she reminded him that they still weren't ready for the wedding. Upstairs, Sam looked at her dress. She sat down at her vanity, took a deep breath, and thought about her and Jason's wedding.
Jason was playing pool at the Floating Rib when Kim entered and asked to join. As they played, she remarked on how much he looked like Drew had looked before, but she observed that their personalities were completely different. She wondered if he'd tried to get back home for the five years he'd been gone. He admitted that he could only account for the last six months of that time, and he hadn't been able to believe so much time had passed when he'd returned.
Kim asked how Jason dealt with Sam being with someone else. He replied that he trusted her to make the right decision for herself and her children. He mentioned that Sam and Drew were getting married that night, which flustered Kim. He apologized for blindsiding her and knew that sometimes the heart took a while to catch up to what the head already knew. "How's your heart? Still catching up?" she asked.
Julian entered the bar and asked to buy dinner for Kim, since he hadn't been able to provide her with dinner at his own bar. She wanted to finish her game with Jason first, but he told her to go ahead, and he sat down at the bar. Jason drank a beer at the bar while remembering his wedding to Sam.
1/22 Jason stood on the footbridge and thought back to his New Year's Eve with Sam. An excited Spinelli interrupted his thoughts and informed Jason that there was still time to stop Sam and Drew's wedding. He wanted Jason to "save" Sam from all the grief her mistake would give her. Jason reminded Spinelli that the marriage was Sam's choice, and she loved Drew. Spinelli accused both Sam and Jason of sacrificing their happiness out of "misguided loyalty."
Spinelli reminded Jason of how Sam had learned to respect herself with Jason. Jason replied that Drew's lifestyle didn't put any lives at risk, but Spinelli shot back that Sam had never cared about that. He continued that she was making the wrong choice for the wrong reasons. "Stop!" Jason exclaimed.
He heard what Spinelli was saying but demanded that he "leave it alone." Spinelli gently told Jason that Jason had made Sam feel safe, and he left. Jason remembered a conversation with Sam from years before, when she'd told him that she slept better at his place because he made her feel safe.
In her room, Sam remembered some of her more recent conversations with Jason. There was a knock on the door, and Molly and Alexis entered. "Are you ready to get married?" Alexis asked.
Alexis descended the stairs and announced that Sam was ready whenever Drew was. Curtis returned with the justice of the peace following behind. A short while later, an ecstatic Molly descended the stairs. Behind her, Sam descended the stairs and joined hands with Drew. In his vows, Drew talked about how his life had started when they'd met, and he was thankful for their future together. He retrieved her ring from Danny, who was ring bearer, and placed it on her finger.
Sam continued by talking about how much had changed in the past couple months, but the things that mattered had stayed the same. She expressed her love for Drew and their "amazing family," and she wanted to continue to share her life with him. She got his ring from Danny and placed it on Drew's finger. The justice of the peace pronounced them husband and wife, and they shared a kiss amidst the applause of their witnesses.
A few minutes later, Curtis toasted to Sam and Drew's happy future. Danny wanted to make a toast, too, so he exclaimed, "To Mommy and Daddy, happy wedding!" Just then, a gleeful Sam smashed wedding cake into Drew's face.
Later, the two were in bed and expressed their love for one another. Drew couldn't wait for their future together, and they shared a passionate kiss.
1/24 Over the phone, Jason told Spinelli to keep him updated. When he hung up, he walked into Sonny's office. He informed Sonny that Spinelli had confirmed that P.K. Sinclair's messages were being intercepted. Just then, Anna burst into the office and asked Sonny for a favor, "in Robin's name."
Sonny told her that someone was intercepting P.K. Sinclair's emails, and Anna instantly and unashamedly took responsibility. She reminded him that he'd refused to keep her updated, so she'd taken matters into her own hands. Jason wondered why Anna cared about Henrik. She replied that she'd "been there" with Faison, and it was a "hell you never escape."
Sonny assured her that they were on the same side, but they needed Henrik in order to draw Faison out. She advised Sonny and Jason to focus on Faison, and she would handle Henrik. Otherwise, she believed that Faison would kill Henrik, and she reminded them that Henrik had kept Jason alive. She hated Faison, but she didn't want to get him at the expense of his son.
Jason pleaded with Anna to trust him. Just then, she got a text from Finn, which read, "I'm waiting for you at your place. We need to say everything we haven't been able to say. Come home." Returning to the conversation, she revealed that Henrik wanted to meet that night, but there was no location set. Just then, she got an email from Henrik, and she revealed that the meeting was set for ten o'clock in the park. She insisted that she would go, as well, and Jason and Sonny eventually agreed.
She tearfully told Sonny to call the authorities when he found Faison. When Anna was gone, Sonny commented on how scared she had seemed. He realized that it was the same look that had been on his mother's face whenever Deke had returned home. Sonny hadn't been able to do anything then, but "I can now." He promised that Anna would no longer live in fear. He thought that, instead of calling the authorities, Anna had wanted to tell Jason, "don't miss." Sonny reiterated this to Jason, who promised, "No, I won't miss."
1/26 Jason and Sonny waited for both Anna and Henrik to show up at the footbridge. Sonny thought that it was unlike Anna to be late, but he thought it might be better for her to miss the meeting. Jason thought that Faison might have shown up at Anna's house, and Sonny declared that he would send someone to check on her if she didn't show up. In the meantime, he would monitor the meeting between Jason and Henrik from his car.
As Sonny and Jason waited, Anna jumped into Sonny's car. She told him that Faison had been to her house, and they would have to protect Henrik. Sonny insisted that they would protect him after they drew Faison out. They continued to disagree, but Sonny was adamant that they play by his rules. When he received a phone call from Carly about the incident at Metro Court, Anna jumped out of the car to wait for Henrik, and Jason and Sonny took off for the hotel.
As Faison and Maxie argued, the elevator doors slid open. It was Nathan with a pointed gun. He looked at Faison, who pointed his own gun and shot first. Nathan fell to the floor, bleeding from a chest wound. "Nathan!" screamed Maxie. "My son," Faison uttered.
Faison wanted Carly to lead him to a private exit, and Carly suggested that he kill her instead. He didn't think that she wanted him to take an innocent bystander, and Carly reluctantly agreed. Suddenly, Jason appeared with his gun. "You'll never make the shot," Faison gloated. Jason shot, and Faison fell to the floor.
The cops arrived. Faison was alive, but he needed the paramedics. Jordan asked Jason for his gun. Jason advised Sonny, "You told me not to miss." Peter walked through and watched as Faison was loaded onto the stretcher, and he mentioned that the others were in the Crimson office.
Carly admitted that she was still shaken up, but she thanked Jason for saving her life. Jason confessed that he would have shot Faison in the head if he'd wanted to kill him. The man was old, though, and he would have blood loss and other assorted ailments after the shooting. Carly wondered what would happen if Faison died, because Jason wouldn't get any answers. "At least he'll be dead," Jason replied. He added that the man had wreaked havoc on too many lives, and it had to stop.
Sonny told Jason that once they drew Faison out, it was best to kill him, but it wouldn't give Jason back what he'd lost.
1/29 Carly asked Jason what would happen if Faison died without answering any of Jason's questions. "Then he'll be dead," Jason replied. He related how Anna always looked so fearful when talking about Faison, and she wasn't the only one. He just wanted it to stop. Carly was amazed how Jason could always "lock in on what matters." He answered that "knowing doesn't change anything." He added that even if Faison died before answering any questions, there was someone else who knew the answers.
As someone watched Anna in the park, Peter turned to leave from his spot behind the bushes, but a twig cracked when he took a step. Anna took out her gun and asked if Henrik was out there. She promised that she meant no harm, as they had a common enemy. Just then, Jason appeared and moved with his gun toward the bushes, where there was no one.
Jason updated Anna on what had happened at Metro Court. "I wish you'd killed him," Anna admitted about Faison. "He always comes back," she said regretfully. "Not this time," Jason answered. He promised that, "one way or another," Faison was "done." Anna chose to pretend she hadn't heard the statement, just like she would pretend to be surprised if Jason followed through on it. He wanted to go to the hospital, but he wanted Anna to know about Nathan first. She was shocked that Faison had shot his own son.
Jason arrived at the hospital and sat with Maxie. She wished he'd gotten to Faison before Faison had gotten to Nathan. An angry Maxie ranted about how it wasn't fair that Faison wasn't hurt as badly as Nathan. Jason promised to make sure that Faison was stopped.
Remembering the few times Jason had been shot, she wondered if having his loved ones there had helped. He insisted that it had, and that it was helping Nathan, as well. He had a couple things to take care of, so he excused himself. He promised to be there for her if she needed anything. "I need you to make sure that Faison doesn't hurt anyone ever again like he hurt Nathan," she responded.
Jason made sure no one was around and slipped into Faison's room. He stood over Faison and stared.
1/30 Sam and Drew returned home early from their honeymoon after hearing about the shootings. They believed that Drew might be able to talk to Faison. Peter arrived and said that while he knew they'd agreed on keeping personal and business lives separate, the story about Faison, Jason, and Drew would be a major story that should be told. Drew's suggested plan of using "no comment" didn't sit well with Peter.
He thought that would cause the public to think they were trying to cover up something. He stated that Drew should "own it," but Sam informed Peter that they would think about it. Sam was glad that Faison had been stopped and that Peter hadn't been hurt. Peter left, and Drew admitted that he agreed with Peter. He thought they should "lead with the truth," and he needed to confront Faison.
Jason managed to get to Faison's room, unseen, and demanded answers on why the criminal had had Jason and Drew switched. Faison wondered why he should answer and what would be in it for him. "You get to stay alive," Jason replied. Faison was certain that eventually Jason would track him down and kill him anyway. He called Jason the "perfect assassin" and added that that had been the reason for taking him. He hadn't been able to use him, though, because Jason had suffered from brain damage.
Faison went on to explain that Jason's frontal lobe had been damaged and the neural pathway destroyed. Faison had been unable to use his mind control for that reason. Dr. Maddox had perfected the memory and imprints mapping, which had led to the ability to imprint Jason's skills into someone else.
It had been a coincidence that Faison had seen a photo of Andrew Cain when he had been going through some Navy SEAL documents and had run a DNA test, and eventually, everything had been sent to Dr. Maddox. Upon further questioning from Jason, Faison clarified that while he'd been in Port Charles to impersonate Duke Lavery, he had entrusted the rest of the job to his son Henrik. That had been a near-fatal decision, Faison said regretfully.
Drew had been sent to Helena Cassadine, who had been a "wonderful lady," Faison said. She had programmed Drew, and Jason had been scheduled to die. Henrik had betrayed Faison. Faison thought that Henrik was treacherous and jealous. Jason asked for Henrik's whereabouts, but Faison didn't know. He thought that his son had been "hiding in plain sight" and was probably using an alias. Faison suggested that Jason talk to Drew, who knew more than he realized.
Finn stopped to check on Faison and found Jason in the room. He ordered Jason out, but he noted that he didn't care if Faison lived or died. The rules stated that Jason couldn't be there. Jason declared that when Faison died, it wouldn't be because of anything that had happened there.
After leaving Faison's room, Jason ran into Anna. He filled her in on everything that Faison had told him. Drew and Sam arrived just then, and Jason told them everything, as well. Anna advised them that both patients were stable. She added that they hadn't learned why Henrik had left Jason alive. Jason advised his brother that Faison had implied that Drew knew Henrik. Drew had no idea what Faison had been talking about, though Jason advised him that he knew more than he realized.
1/31 In another room, Peter stopped to look in on Faison. Sam and Drew arrived, and he advised them that they wouldn't be able to "trust a word the bastard says." A cop stood at the door and frisked them. "I see you got the girl. Jason's wife. Are you here to thank me?" Faison asked Drew. He told Sam to go back to the man she loved. "Screw you," Sam snapped at him.
Drew asked Faison for the flash drive that contained his memories but Faison denied having any knowledge of the piece of equipment. Drew demanded to know why Faison had kept Jason alive, but Faison replied that he'd wanted to kill Jason because he was dangerous. He also confirmed that Drew knew his son Henrik and suggested that if Drew were to help him escape, he'd tell Drew what Drew wanted to know.
Drew declared that he would never help Faison, and he looked forward to seeing the old man spending his last days in prison, in a cage. Faison stated that Drew needed Henrik. "And I hope you enjoy hell," Drew said. Sam announced that they would be able to locate Henrik on their own, and they left Faison's room.
Peter asked Sam and Drew if they'd been able to get any information from Faison. "That guy's a piece of work," Peter said. He walked away. Sam felt bad for Maxie and the fact that her life had gone from light to dark in just a day.
2/1 Jason knocked at Drew's office door and entered to find the room empty. Sam entered and informed Jason that Drew was at the hospital to talk to Faison, but Jason told her that Faison was already dead. "Good. I'm glad he's dead. He deserved it," Sam stated tearfully. She revealed that she would always hate the man for taking Jason away.
She regretted that she was indirectly responsible for Faison's arrival in town, as Aurora had published Lulu's article about Faison and Nathan after Peter had approved it. Sam continued that Peter had nearly been shot by Faison, but he'd gotten closure after confronting the man. Jason revealed that he'd also talked to Faison, and he'd found out why he'd been replaced with Drew.
He updated her on Faison's SEAL team research and how Jason's brain hadn't been able to be programmed because of the damage. He added that Henrik was their only lead left. Sam told Jason that he had no idea how much grieving she'd done when he'd been taken away. She could relate to what Maxie was probably going through, but she acknowledged that she'd gotten a miracle that Maxie would never get. They remembered Jason pulling Sam out of the water the night Jason had revealed himself.
Drew arrived, and Jason updated him on what little he'd learned from Faison. Drew added that Faison had had no idea about the flash drive or where Henrik was. Jason related that Henrik had agreed to a meeting, but he'd never shown up. Sam suggested that the meeting had only been intended to be a diversion. Drew wondered how long Jason had known about Henrik and why he'd waited to tell Drew.
2/2 At Aurora, Jason filled Sam and Drew in on what he'd learned about Faison and Henrik. Drew wondered how long Jason had known about Henrik. Jason stammered and revealed that Faison had said that Drew knew more than he realized. Sam wanted to hear everything, hopeful that it "may spark something" in Drew's memory. Jason confirmed that Henrik was the traitor they'd been looking for.
Jason told what he knew of Dr. Klein, Britt, and the manuscript that had the main character "betrayed and destroyed" by the son. Jason assumed that the traitor, the son, and the writer were all the same person. Jason mentioned going to Anna for help, too, and Liesl had confirmed some of what they knew. Drew wondered if Jason had known all of that before the wedding, and Jason admitted that he had.
Drew was angry, as he was supposed to have been kept in the loop and would have wanted to get Sam and the kids out of town. He had never been told about Faison's other son. Jason responded that he had been waiting for something more concrete, and Drew had been busy watching over his family. He, Sonny, and Spinelli had been pursuing various theories from different people, and he hadn't wanted to say anything until it was definite.
Anna had waited for Henrik, and while she'd heard someone in the bushes, Henrik had never shown up. The Sinclair email address had been shut down. Faison had said that his son was "hiding in plain sight.” Jason agreed that he would keep Drew and Sam updated, and Drew asked if he'd be truthful in the future. Jason shrugged and left. Drew stated that he and Sam would have to find the information themselves. Drew thought they should speak to Anna, but Sam said they'd be running in circles after a ghost and would need the flash drive.
Drew was certain that he couldn't continue with Jason's memories, and he tried to recall which memories were really his own. He figured only the last three years that he'd been in Port Charles belonged to him. Sam reminded him that he'd recognized Kim, and maybe the process hadn't been perfect. She thought he could remember on his own without the flash drive.
Jason arrived, and Sonny filled him in. Carly noted that Mike had been clean for seven years, and she didn't believe that the news about him was true. Sonny thought it was possible, but Carly insisted that Faison could have set a trap. Jason revealed that Faison was dead, but Carly was still concerned, though happy. Sonny left alone. Jason updated Carly about some of the answers he'd received from Faison.
He added that he'd also told Sam and Drew about it all, and upon prodding from Carly, admitted that he'd told Sam about it first because Drew hadn't been there. Carly continued to pepper him with questions, and Jason was annoyed. Carly could only think about what might have been, but Jason told her that Sam was more concerned about Maxie. Carly stressed that it was because Sam had grieved the same way after Jason had been presumed dead.
Carly went on to talk about everyone always claiming to be heartbroken when in reality they were disappointed or sad. Heartbroken meant what it said, and it made one unable to breathe. She attributed the term to Sam, but Jason said that Sam was merely confused. Carly continued to lecture Jason, and she tried to press upon him how important it was for him to fight for Sam and to stop being noble.
