Jason & Sam #12  July 26 – September 27, 2006 – 8 hours

Jason comforts an upset Sam. She has learned about Sonny's bi-polar diagnosis and Alexis fears about her sister's future mental health. It has made Sam reflect on the baby she would have had with Sonny. Jason is very sweet to her and she gets annoyed and says it would be so much easier if he was a jerk. He comments that he will always care about her. She suggests he just leave town so she doesn't have to keep running into him. She becomes angry and warns him to stop sending her mixed signals. Ric suggests that Sam will have to do something drastic to truly end things with Jason. 

Lucky informs Sam that files are always getting lost in the PCPD and that there would be no questions if Jason's file tying him to the Escobar family turned up on his desk. Sam once again voices her innocence and then tells Lucky that Jason does not need her help in staying out of jail. Lucky informs Sam that Jason owes him for saving his life. Sam laughs and asks Lucky if that is really what he believes. 

Sam runs for the elevator and asks for the man to hold it for her. As she enters she drops all of her files. As she begins to pick them up, she realizes that it was Jason in the elevator with her. As they are riding, the elevator gets stuck. Jason contacts maintenance only to find out that it will be a while before they are able to get someone there to fix it. Jason begins to help Sam study for her GED. They discussed Sonny and his dilemma. Sam was pleased to hear the men were on speaking terms again. Of course, the topic shifted to why he dumped her to protect her and her insisting that she doesn't care about the danger, etc. "I've never had a normal life," Sam reminded her ex, stating his argument still lacked validity. After she insisted that they could still have what they used to have, the elevator shifted and the door opened. 

Sam found Kristina and Ric at the hospital, and assuaged her little sister's fears about getting a shot. She kept mum about her and Jason in the elevator. Carly met Jason at the docks and they compared notes on Sonny's condition. Jason wasn't thrilled at the prospect of possibly running the business permanently. 

On the docks, Carly advised Jason to give up the business and go back to Sam. Jason didn't want to hear her plan, but Carly pointed out that he's been miserable without his ladylove. Jason remained adamant about staying away from Sam in order to keep her safe. Just then, Bernie showed up with a matter that needed Jason's attention. "You have the world's worst timing," snarled Carly. She huffed off and Bernie updated Jason on a situation in South America. Jason sighed that he would take care of it. Jason arrived at Sonny's, where he caught his ex-boss almost taking a drink but didn't. Sonny then told him that he let Emily go. Jason admitted he was thankful that his sister got Sonny the help he needed when he never did. Sonny said Jason had nothing to apologize for, but Sonny would stick to his treatment for the sake of his children. He also told Jason that he'd have to continue running the business. Jason wasn't please to hear that. 

Alexis confronted Sam about missing files and tainted records (unaware that she had nothing to do with them). Sam then mentioned she took her GED test and sarcastically thanked her mother for her support. Afterward, Alexis quizzed Ric to see if he was the one who tampered with the records in the Ruiz case. He denied it, and she tried to dismiss him. Ric then brought up the fact that Jason killed Manny, not Lucky, then surmised that Alexis made a deal with Jason that she wouldn't charge him if he stayed away from Sam. 

Unfortunately, Sam happened to be outside the door and heard the whole thing. Sam was appalled. Ric chastised Alexis for her actions and pointed out how her job is keeping her away from her family, then stormed out. Sam showed up at Kelly's to drown her sorrows in ice cream. Ric appeared shortly thereafter. Sam vented about Alexis and was surprised that Ric didn't jump to her defense. 

Jason runs into Sam at the hospital and tells her that she received some packages at the penthouse. Sam informs Jason that the books were for a surprise trip she had planned for the two of them in New Zealand. Jason suggests that Sam still go on the holiday. Alexis happens to witness Jason and Sam talking. She contacts Cruise and asks what minor events are occurring that she can bring Jason in for. Confirming an event, she asks that PCPD come and pick Jason up. 

Lucky arrives at the hospital to take Jason into custody. At that moment Carly arrives telling him that she needs to talk. Jason asks that Carly contact his lawyer. When Carly tries to question Sam on what happened Sam informs her that Alexis had seen the two of them talking and that she is not going to let her get away with this. Alexis informs Jason that she is holding him there, as he may be a target. She suggests that while he is there, they should discuss what they can do to help Sam. Alexis tells Jason that it would be best if he tried to avoid running into Sam, or at least to not talk to her if he happens to run into her. Alexis suggests that it may be best if he told Sam that he does not love her anymore. Jason tells Alexis that he will not lie to Sam. Carly arrives at the police department to tell Alexis that she will post Jason's bail. As she begins to yell at Carly for the intrusion, Alexis begins to have a coughing fit. 

Alexis cut Jason loose, making Carly suspicious. Ric and Sam pondered how to share a house, and discussed Alexis' selective parenting of Molly and Kristina and that she clearly favors Kristina. Sam and Ric traded sob stories about who's the bigger burden on Alexis, then Ric accused her of always defending Jason even when he lied to and stole from Sonny. Sam insisted she never wanted Jason's money. 

Jason appeared just as Sonny sealed a deal with Rosales then asked to Jason to take him home. Back home, Sonny tried to self-medicate with booze. He forgave Jason for missing the meet, and then admitted he doesn't feel completely in control. Carly arrived, and Sonny said everything's fine. Jason said the meeting was cool. While Sonny refused to talk shop, Carly fretted until he reassured her, so she left. "What do we do now?" Sonny asked, admitting he bluffed Rosales. Sonny asked Jason if he's ready to get back in the game? 

Jason responded, "No". Suddenly, Ric waltzed in and accused Jason of not wanting Sonny to recover. Sonny blasted his brother. Ric called Sonny a figurehead, and Jason had to hold Sonny back from punching Ric. Jason and Sonny ordered Ric out. "I can't keep doing this," Sonny gasped. 

Carly went to the lake house to tell Sam that Sonny "is back" so Sam can get back with Jason. They quarreled over what more Sam can do to reclaim him. Carly insisted Jason loves her just as Alexis returned. She ordered Carly out, and Carly warned Alexis that her kids would resent her until she does everyone a favor and drops dead. Carly tries to convince Sam to fight to get back with Jason. When Alexis tried to explain that whatever actions she took, it was so that her children had a better life. Carly said that she wanted her children to only live the life that she wanted for them, and that they would be happy when she finally died. Ric showed up, and Alexis demanded that Carly leave. After Carly left, Alexis commented how beautiful Sam looked, and she reports that she was going out to celebrate her first paycheck. Alexis asked if she would like someone to go with her, to which Sam commented that she was looking forward to spending some time alone. 

Jason met Emily at Metro Court, commenting on how much he was looking forward to having dinner with her. He asked how she was doing since the break up with Sonny, to which she said that she was doing all right and that she was taking it day by day. When Jason suggested that they get a table, she told him that they were not having dinner, but that she had invited him on someone's behalf. Jason automatically assumed that she was trying to set him up with Sam, and Emily let him know that it was actually Edward who asked to have dinner with him. 

When the two of them sat down, Edward asked Jason to eliminate Lorenzo, that doing so, would allow Skye to return to her family, and have her child with her love ones around her. Jason told him that Skye was safe with the friends who were helping her, and that asking him to kill Lorenzo would only be on his conscience. Edward said that he had done a lot of things in his life that he regretted, and that one more regret would not be too bad. Jason asked if he really wanted to send his grandson to kill someone, to which Edward said that looking into his eyes, it reminded him so much of Lila, and he changed his mind. He felt that his duty was not to add another crime to the list of crimes Jason had committed, but to try and get him back into the family. 

While they were talking, Sam walked in to have a seat, which visibly shook up Jason. Edward and Jason ended the conversation, Edward apologized for what he had said after Justus' death, and the two of them shook hands. Jason went onto the balcony, and began to relive the night that Sam was shot. When Sam came onto the balcony, he asked that she run to him like she had that night. When she did, he showed her where she had gotten shot, and that if he had held her three inches lower, that the bullet would have killed him. That is when Jason said that he could not love her any longer, because that could kill her. 

Jason runs into Alexis at Kelly's. She tells him about the incident earlier where Carly showed up at her house to convince Sam to try harder to get him back. She asks Jason to talk to Carly and keep her from bothering Sam, who needs to be able to move on with her life without Carly's interference. Sam sees them through the window on her way into Kelly's and realizes they are talking. She comes into Kelly's and approaches them. She asks them if they were talking about her and if Alexis was pressuring him into staying away from her. Jason tells her that he made the choice to end their relationship not Alexis. Sam doesn't buy it and accuses Alexis of pressuring and blackmailing him into leaving her. Jason takes Sam aside and tells her that he made the choice and that last night he told her it was over. Sam leaves in a huff. Alexis tells him she knows how hard this has been for him. Jason heads over to Carly's to confront her about bothering Sam. 

Carly refuses to apologize for talking to Sam and trying to persuade her to fight for him. Jason tells her to leave Sam alone instead of making it harder for her. Carly refuses to back down and sits down with him. She tells him that she has never seen him happier than when he was with Sam and that even she can admit that she was wrong about Sam. She tells him that Sam has felt like trash her whole life and that what he did confirmed to Sam that she is not worthy of love. Jason listens to Carly and admits that she is right for a change and agrees to talk to Sam and see if they can work things out. Carly tells Jason about her trip with the boys to Africa and Jason thinks Jax isn't worth it but doesn't try and stop her from going. 

Sam comes home and hits the liquor bottle to make a drink. She tells Ric that Alexis is a controlling "bitch." Ric asks her what happened just as Alexis comes home and walks in the door. Alexis tells Sam that she deserves more respect as her mother. Sam refuses to apologize and tells Alexis off for guilt-tripping Jason so much that he ended their relationship. Alexis tells her that Jason made that choice, not her. Sam refuses to accept that and blames Alexis for what happened and that it is her fault. Alexis infuriates Sam when she refuses to accept any blame. Sam takes the bottle of liquor and drinks it from the bottle. Alexis loses her temper and tells Sam she has given up on trying to protect her and tells her to go after Jason if she wants to. Sam can't believe it when Alexis accuses her of wanting to be taken care of and not having any identity of her own and kicks her out of the house. Ric listens long enough and tells Alexis she has gone too far and asks her what is wrong with her? 

Alexis stops and realizes what she just said and tries to backpedal. Sam refuses to pretend she didn't hear what she just said and tells Ric that Alexis is finally being honest about how she feels about her. She accuses Alexis of thinking she is trash and that is why she tried to mold her into being like her because she never has accepted her for who she is. Alexis denies that is what she thinks of her. Sam refuses to believe it and tells Alexis off. Alexis kicks Sam out of the house and tells her she doesn't want her hatred to rub off on her sisters. Ric intervenes again and tells Alexis off for how she is behaving. Alexis can't believe Ric is defending Sam and not her. 

Ric accuses Alexis of keeping some hidden secret and that she is taking out her anger on Sam for no reason. He tells her to leave. Alexis decides to leave and Ric tells her to go see the mayor. Sam asks him what he is talking about but he doesn't answer her. Sam starts drinking heavily. Ric starts drinking also. Later, Alexis returns home and gets the shock of her life when she sees Ric and Sam making out and starting to make love in the living room. Meanwhile, Jason tells Bernie he can't meet with him right now and is on his way to see Sam. Jason has a smile on his face. 

Alexis witnesses Sam and Ric in the heat of passion just as Jason approaches the Lake House. Alexis informs Jason that Sam has gone to stay at the Metro Court hotel due to the lack of air conditioning. Jason escorts Alexis to the hospital when she begins to have another coughing fit and has trouble breathing. Jason arrives back at Alexis' house in search of Sam. Looking through the window, Jason witnesses Sam and Ric together. Jason heads to his Penthouse to drown his sorrows in a bottle. Ric tries to drink away his guilt, while Sam calls out Jason's name in her sleep. 

Elizabeth showed up at Jason's penthouse saying she had no place else to go. Liz could tell that Jason was drinking. She blurted out the truth about Lucky's fling and downed some tequila. "Sam's sleeping with Ric," he countered. Liz was shocked. Jason lamented that he was trying to protect Sam by keeping her away, but all he ended up doing was hurting her. They started talking about their past together and Liz admitted that she was once truly in love with him. Liz said she didn't want to think about anything tonight. They kissed. 

Jason slipped off her shirt. She pulled his over his head, and they got horizontal behind the couch. Later, Jason brought Elizabeth a bottle of water. They admitted their surprise, but neither had regrets and said it was the only night they'd spend together. As they cuddled on the couch, Liz mentioned that she wished her son could get to know Jason better, but his lifestyle's too dangerous. "You rescued me," she smiled. "I should go." 

"Only if you want to," Jason replied. 

At the Lake House, Sam woke up to a shirtless Ric and huffed, "Don't touch me." Sam told Ric they'd never sleep together again. She accused her stepfather of trying to one-up Jason by having sex with her and demanded to know if he felt any remorse at all for cheating on Alexis. 

Sam accused Ric of using her and he shot back that she has no self-esteem. "The only reason you slept with me is to get revenge on Jason!" she insisted. Sam said she's going to tell Jason the truth, but he didn't believe her. "You've been working me since day one," Sam spat. "You're a dead man. Start running." In a musical montage to end the show, Alexis cleaned up the sofa and pillows, Lucky drank more booze and popped more pills, Jason asked Liz to stay with him, then kissed her. 

Sam returned to the Lake House and let Alexis know that she just came to get her stuff and was leaving. Alexis said that as a family they needed a lot of work and that she should not leave. Sam said that she felt that she needed to go, because of the contempt she felt for her mother at times, and she didn't want Molly and Kristina to notice. Alexis let the both of them know that she had decided to vacate the DA job to focus on her family, and Sam let her know that this did not change her decision. 

After Sam had packed her things, and as she was leaving, Ric asked if she had told Jason about what had happened earlier? She replied that she hadn't, and Ric asked her not to share it with anyone. He felt that if people found out that they had sex it could hurt the people they cared for. Sam agreed not to tell Jason or anyone else that they had sex. 

Elizabeth and Jason were kissing on the sofa when Jason heard someone at the door (it was Sam but she left before Jason could see her). Elizabeth commented that she was surprised that he did not have a guard posted at the door, and Jason said that it was not something necessary. Elizabeth discussed how they could never seem to get together, however, that it had never been their fault. She commented how much she had relied on him and that she appreciated him always being there for her. 

Jason let her know that he appreciated what she offered to his life, and that she never let her past get in the way of her future. He then offered to send her and Cameron to Italy on a vacation because she deserved to get away for a while, and not have to worry about the daily grinds of life. Elizabeth was grateful for the offer, but felt that she should not run away from her problems and that she had to face them. She asked what he felt his future would bring him, and he told her that while he was running the business he could not think of having a family. 

Ric shows up at Kelly's and finds Sam there. Sam has many regrets about their one-night stand and doesn't think he does. Ric suggests that maybe she should leave town and start over. Later, Sam shows up at Sonny's to talk to him. Sonny tells her he already knows about her night with Ric since he came by and told him, asking him for protection from Jason since he thought she was going to go straight to Jason to tell him. 

Sam tells him she hasn't told Jason about it and came by to ask him about Jason and what to do since he knows Jason the best. Sonny suggests she come right out and tell Jason and Alexis and thinks that Jason will forgive her. Sam doesn't think Jason or Alexis will forgive her for what she did and told him about how Alexis treated her like she was trash. Sam decides she is going to leave town instead since she can't stand to be in close proximity to Ric on a daily basis. 

Meanwhile, Jason and Elizabeth wake up together in his bed. Elizabeth tells him she thinks her marriage is over and that she can't allow her son to live in an environment when her husband is acting so irrationally. Jason offers to be there for her if she needs him. Jason gets called in to see Alexis at her office. 

Alexis asks Jason not to tell Sam or Ric about how he had to take her to the hospital after her coughing episode at the lake house. Jason tells her he won't volunteer that information to them but won't lie if they ask him. Alexis tells him she went to the doctor and that what she has isn't serious. Jason tells her he knows she is lying but tells her it is her life and her choice. 

He goes home and then Sam shows up at his penthouse. She tells him she is leaving town and came to say goodbye. She admits to him that she slept with Ric. Jason surprises her when he tells her he already knows. Sonny shows up to see Alexis at her office. She is surprised to see him and thanks him for helping put Kristina to bed last night. Sonny tells her he came by to tell her he got a visit from Sam and that she is leaving town. Ric comes by and overhears their conversation and wonders if Sonny will tell Alexis about his night with Sam. 

Sam goes to see Jason at the penthouse and informs him that she slept with Ric. Jason tells her that he knows and proceeds to say that he was there that night to tell her that he had been wrong about keeping them apart. Jason comes clean with Sam about his one night stand with Elizabeth. Devastated, Sam tells Jason that she is going to leave town. Elizabeth goes to see Jason to tell him that she has changed her mind about leaving Lucky. She asks Jason not to tell anyone about their one night together, however he tells her that it is too late. Sam is summoned to Alexis's office where she begins to explain why she is leaving town. Alexis informs Sam that Molly and Kristina will need her, as she has been diagnosed with stage two lung cancer. 

Alexis is talking to Sam in her office and tells her that she has lung cancer. She, with an all business demeanor, explains to a disbelieving Sam that she has Stage 2 Adenocarcinoma, the most common type of lung cancer in women and that she may die. Sam still doesn't believe her but Alexis matter- of-factly assures her it is true. 

She explains that she will have an operation and chemotherapy, which may or may not get rid of the cancer. She went on to explain that it started with an unstoppable cough her doctors thought was caused by allergies, then a bronchitis which did not respond to antibiotics. Finally a chest X-Ray she received two weeks ago, revealed a spot on her lung. Alexis tells Sam that she is worried about Christina and Molly. Sam asks her, if she is asking her to not leave Port Charles. Alexis softens her tone a bit and they continue to talk and attempt to amend their relationship. Alexis apologizes for all the hurt that she caused Sam. They both agree to unite for the sake of Kristina and Molly. Sam admits that the thought of leaving the girls has been difficult for her. Alexis asks for Sam's help with the girls for when she begins her treatments because she will be weak and unable to stay strong for the girls. Sam expresses concern that after all the grief she caused for Alexis, she wonders if that will stand in the way of Alexis trying to recover. Alexis' business like demeanor returns and she abruptly states that she just wants to know if Sam will stay to help her. She then tells Sam that she has not told Ric. 

At this point, Ric appears in her doorway, Sam can see him standing there but Alexis cannot. Unaware that Ric is standing silently in the doorway and listening, Alexis then apologizes to Sam for everything she has done to hurt her, she explains that she has been jealous that Sam has her health and her whole life ahead of her and that she was throwing it all away. Finally, she boldly states, "I have cancer and I need my family with me because I don't want to die." Upon saying these words, Alexis turns around and sees Ric standing there. Sam immediately excuses herself and leaves Alexis and Ric alone. 

Elizabeth is upset that Jason told Sam about their sleeping together. Jason explains that Sam was honest with him about sleeping with Ric so he felt compelled to be just as honest with her. Elizabeth is very concerned that Lucky will find out and it will interfere with his recovery. Jason assures her however, that their secret is safe because Sam is leaving town. Elizabeth then asks Jason how he feels about her leaving. Jason feels Sam is making a big mistake but admits that it is up to her. Elizabeth wants to know if he could ever forgive Sam for sleeping with Ric. He responds by asking her if she could ever forgive Lucky. "I love my husband and I am going to do whatever I can to help him get clean." She admits that whenever she thinks about the situation, she can only think of him and Maxie together but she knows that she has to give it a try because she have so much to lose. She tells Jason that he does too. 

Sonny tells Jason that Sam is getting ready to leave town. Jason tells him that he saw Sam and Ric together and then Sam came and told him the truth and that she is leaving town. Sonny tells Jason that there is a change of plans and that Sam cannot leave because Alexis has been diagnosed with lung cancer. Sonny tells Jason that he figured something was wrong because she was coughing all the time so he has someone look up her medical records. Jason said he took her to the hospital and she then asked him not to say anything about it to anyone. Sonny knows that Alexis is going to ask Sam not to leave Port Charles. Jason is confused about his feelings. Sonny thanks him for not hurting Ric. Sonny admits that he knows that Ric is "a twisted bastard" but also admits that Alexis needs him. Jason is convinced Sam will leave town. Sonny then asks Jason for a favor. He wants Jason to ask Sam to stay. Sonny tells him that Alexis needs Sam's help and Jason is the only one who can convince her to stay. Sonny tells Jason, "You are just going to have to forgive a little bit." 

Sam is alone on the docks when Ric approaches her. "I don't think it gets worse than this," Sam says to him. "I am not going to let her go through this alone," Ric responds. Ric wants to know if Sam is going to stay. Sam disappoints him by telling him that she got a job offer and is leaving in the morning. They argue. Ric is still convinced that nothing good will come out of Alexis finding out they slept together and that he is trying to put it far out of his mind. Sam makes it clear that she too wants to get as far away from Ric as possible. 

Later, Sam visits Jason. She tells him that Alexis has cancer. He tells her that Sonny just told him. Sam continues that Alexis is going to have to go through a lot of treatment and is scared to death. They discuss how difficult it will be for her and that she asked Sam to stay in Port Charles to help her. Sam is glad to have someone need her for a change and is looking forward to the opportunity to do something meaningful to atone for some of the terrible things she has done. "I don't want my mother to die and if there is anything I can do, I want to stay. I just have to figure out a way to deal with you and me." 

Sam and Jason talk about Alexis' cancer diagnosis. Sam tells him she doesn't want her mother to die and has changed her mind about leaving town. She wants to tell Alexis about her one-night stand with Ric but feels that is selfish on her part because she should be thinking about Alexis' feelings not her own. Jason doesn't want to tell her what to do and tells her she has to make her own decisions regarding what to do about Alexis. 

Sam shows up at Alexis' and helps keep Kristina's spirits up and keeps her occupied for awhile. Ric and Sam end up talking outside on the patio. Sam tells Ric that she told Jason about their night together and that she found out that Jason knew already because he saw them together. Ric plans on keeping that information from Alexis and asks Sam to do the same. Sam tells him she doesn't plan on telling her anything. Alexis watches them engage in a heated conversation through the window and has flashbacks to seeing them having sex at the cabin before. 

Sonny shows up at Jason's place to tell him about his conversation with Alexis. He tells him that Alexis is already making plans for her children as if she is going to definitely die and that he is concerned about what has been going on with Sam and Ric. Jason tells him that the situation really stinks and doesn't know what to do. Sonny asks Jason to be there for Sam when she needs him even if it is very difficult for him to forgive her. Elizabeth goes to see Jason and finds him talking with Sam. Sam agrees not to tell Lucky about Elizabeth sleeping with Jason because it could set back his recovery. Sam leaves and Elizabeth tells Jason that Lucky must never find out about their night together. 

Jason told Sonny that he intercepted one of Alcazar's weapons shipments last night. Sonny was angry he acted without his authorization. Sonny feared Alcazar already suspects him and may use force to get his guns back. Alcazar swaggered into Sonny's home and demanded his shipment be returned. Sonny promptly served up the requested info, much to Jason's chagrin. The boss told Jason he has more important concerns that Alexis is sick, and she hates gang wars. This display of weakness left Jason somewhat slack-jawed. Later, Jason found Elizabeth on the pier. Liz mused that everything comes down to timing and chance. Jason pointed out that people have the power to choose how they react to the things that happen to them. Example, he chose to be with Liz. She also doesn't feel guilty about being with him. He vowed to always be her friend. Sonny tells Jason that he wants to tell Alexis about Ric and Sam sleeping together because he does not want Ric raising his daughter if something happens to Alexis. Jason suggests that Sonny talk to Sam before he goes and says anything. Sonny agrees with Jason's suggestion. Alexis begins to put together a video for Molly and Kristina. Sam and Kristina arrive back at the house and Kristina asks to see the video. Sam suggests that Kristina go and clean up her room so that she and Alexis can have an opportunity to talk. Alexis tells Sam about the video and asks what she would want to hear. 

Alexis, Sam and Kristina arrive at the hospital for Alexis's pre-operation examination. Patrick suggests that perhaps the visit may be boring for Kristina and mentions the rides on the pier. Sam and Kristina are on the pier looking at the water when Kristina sees Jason. Running to him, Kristina asks him to take them out on his boat. Sam calls Alexis and asks for her permission to take Kristina. Alexis speaks with Jason and asks him to take good care of his daughters. 

Kristina asked Sam and Jason why they weren't kissing, then queried if they still loved each other. Jason was even more speechless than usual. He did get out that they're still friends. Then, Sam then took Kristina home. Sam and Kristina regaled mom about their fun day of sailing. Sam apologized for Jason being there but Alexis said it was okay. When Sam helped her mother move a chair, Alexis flashed back to Sam and Ric having sex, but said nothing. Alexis prepared to take a nap, and Kristina came out to lay down with her mommy. Alexis suggested to her daughter that she shouldn't go on any more boat rides with Jason. Kristina told her mother that Sam and Jason love each other. 

At Sonny's, Jason arrived and got irritated when Sonny mentioned Alexis's wishes. Sonny pointed out that he feels Ric is more dangerous for Kristina than Jason is. Sonny pointed out to Jason that Alexis needs to know that Ric slept with her daughter. Sonny called Sam, while Alexis called Jason. Jason showed up at the Lake House. Alexis thanked Jason for protecting Sam and asked him to keep it up by staying away for her for good. Then, Alexis suffered another coughing fit. Sam showed up at Sonny's, where he told her about Alexis's wishes. Sonny told Sam that Alexis needs to know about her and Ric. Sam refused to come clean, at least until Alexis has the chance to beat her illness. Sonny told Sam not to let Alexis manipulate her and said if she didn't speak up, he would. 

Alexis and Jason were talking at Alexis' when she got into a coughing fit. After Jason got her the inhaler from her purse, he offered to take her to the hospital. She refused, and Jason let her know that she should not avoid her illness. Alexis asked him to help her fight the fear she had about dying. She wanted to know how he had been willing to accept death last year without being afraid. He let her know that he had been willing to accept his fate and was afraid that the people who cared for him would mourn for him, but he did not feel frightened for himself. However, when Robin found out about the surgery, he had been afraid of the possible outcome of the surgery, but had been willing to take the chance for Sam. He knew that he had to fight for her sake. At this point, Alexis asked him to take her to the hospital. 

Sonny was talking with Sam, who was trying to convince him not to disclose to Alexis about her sleeping with Ric. He said that he needed to make Alexis understand that Ric would not be the best person to raise Kristina. Sam told him that she did not understand the fatalistic approach that Alexis and him were taking regarding her condition. She wanted to give her mother hope, a reason to fight, and letting her know about the affair would destroy her. While they were talking, Jason called Sam to let her know that he was taking Alexis to the hospital. 

Once Sonny and Sam got to the hospital, Alexis and Jason were waiting to see the doctor. Sonny asked to speak with Alexis and Sam feared he was going to let her mother know of the affair. However, he let Alexis know that the was going to be straight with her from now on, but that he also wanted her to get better. Alexis thanked him for caring and went to see the doctor with Sam. Afterwards, Jason asked why he did not let Alexis know, he said it was because she and Sam needed each other right now. 

Liz was sitting alone on the docks when Jason came by. He asked what she was doing there, and she let him know that she was avoiding going home. She acknowledged that Lucky's battle with painkillers was difficult, but it made it even more difficult since he was unwilling to go into rehab. She let Jason know that her child comes first, and if Lucky was to ever start using again, she would leave him for good. 

Carly goes to see Jason at his apartment after she returns home from Africa. She complains to him about her trip and how Jax played mind games to get her to grovel for him. She starts to compare Jason to Jax, which bothers Jason. Carly asks Jason why Sam isn't with him and asks him what happened to the idea that he was going to go see Sam and tell her how he was wrong and wanted her back in his life. Jason tells her that to leave it alone in a sharp tone. Carly asks him what happened? Jason tells her it didn't work out and that it is over between them. Carly asks him what Sam did to him but Jason won't tell her. 

Sam comes home with groceries for the family. She finds Alexis making up lists of things to do. Sam asks her why Ric isn't home. Alexis tells her that Ric is busy at the office and that she would prefer it if she would take her to the hospital instead. Sam agrees to do that for her. Jax comes by and surprises Alexis who is thrilled to see him. He tells her that Sam actually sent a text message on his cell-phone to tell him that Alexis was sick and needed to see him. He tells her that he really came home to track down Carly. Sam leaves them alone to talk. Jax tries to find out what is wrong with Alexis but she tries to evade his question. Sam ends up on the docks and runs into Jason. Jason notices she is crying. Sam tells him she is okay and that she went to the store to buy something for Alexis and found herself crying about Alexis. Jason offers to be around if she needs him and leaves her alone. 

Sam returns home and gives Alexis a gift. Alexis opens it to find a large picture frame inside the box. Sam suggests that Alexis should have a picture done of her and the girls. Alexis tells Sam she wants her in the picture also. Nikolas takes the picture and Sam and Alexis have a moment. Later, Sam brings Alexis to the hospital to get prepped for her surgery that day. Sam has Alexis sit down in the waiting area while she checks her in. 

After overhearing Lulu blaming Edward for the faulty Enduro condoms, Liz heads to Jason's penthouse in search of which condoms were used the night of the blackout. Finding the packaging in his bedside table, Liz sees that they are the ENDURO condoms. Sonny orders Jason to kill the person who stole his therapy records. Sonny tells Jason that the file would contain all of his weaknesses and no one in the business would take him seriously. He even mentions that Jason could end up running the business permanently, leaving himself with nothing. Jason suggests that perhaps Ric is the one who stole the information. 

Alexis and Lainey are discussing Sam and Ric sleeping together when Sam arrives with the paperwork Alexis must sign. Sam quickly excuses herself and says that she needs some water. Alexis asks Sam's advice on whether or not she should proceed with the surgery as well as if Patrick should be the surgeon. Robin enters Alexis's hospital room and informs the two of them that she really needs to know what they would like to do so that they have time to find another doctor. Sam informs Robin that they will proceed with the surgery with Patrick as her doctor. Alexis tells Sam that she wishes a long and happy life for all of her children. She asks Sam to make a promise not to get back together with Jason and that she refuse Jason should he ask to get back together with her. 

Jason arrives back at Sonny's with his file. He mentions that he discovered it outside in the hospital dumpster and was hoping to lift some prints off of it. Jason tells Sonny that he ran into Sam at the hospital. Jason informs him that he is angry and disgusted that Sam slept with Ric, but he does not want Sam to see that in him because she has been hurt enough. Sonny tells Jason that he knows that when he gets angry he just shuts down. Sonny continues to say that Sam really needs him, and that he is failing her because he does not know how to forgive. 

As Alexis waited with Sam to get prepped for surgery she asked her daughter that if she did not make it out, that for her peace of mind she needed to know that Sam would not get back with Jason. Sam tried to get Alexis understand how her relationship with Jason had changed her and allowed her to trust someone again. Alexis tried to get Sam to understand that if she did not make it, she wanted Sam to raise Molly and Kristina, and that for all of their safety she needed to stay away from Jason. Sam let her know that while she knows that she is not the daughter Alexis would have chosen, and that she would not have chosen Alexis as a mother, since they were stuck with each other, she would do what her mother asked of her and stay away from Jason and help raise Kristina and Molly. Sonny came into the room, and Alexis let her him know of the arrangements that had been made in case she did not make it out of surgery. Sonny let Alexis know that he was uncomfortable with Kristina living with Ric and Alexis, however when Alexis persisted, he agreed with the arrangement with one condition-that she would fight to beat this disease. Alexis let him know that she had no intention of dying, but needed to make arrangements in case she did not make it. When Epiphany came to take Alexis in for surgery, Alexis wanted Sam and Sonny to let Ric know that she was okay. 

Jason came into his apartment, as Elizabeth was coming down the stairs from the bedroom. When he asked what she was doing there, she let him know that she had come by because she thought she had left a necklace over there the night of the blackout. She apologized for invading his space, and Jason let her know that it was all right. Back at the hospital, Jason came by to see Sam, and asked if he could wait with her. With regret, she let him know of the promise she made for her mother, and that she could no longer let him in her life. Jason let her know that he understood, but before he left, he let her know that he had made a mistake pushing her away and not allowing her to make decisions about her life. 

Liz ran into Jason as he was leaving the hospital. She shared her frustrations of Lucky's unwillingness to go to rehab, and asked Jason if she should force him to go? Jason let her know that forcing someone into a decision they did not want to make would only lead to disaster, and that Liz should let Lucky take the course he has chosen. Patrick wheeled Alexis back into her room after the surgery while Ric and Sam were waiting. He let them know that the surgery went as planned and that the oncologist would let them know about the results. When Alexis woke up she saw both her husband and daughter waiting for her. 

Jason went back to his apartment when Sam knocked at the door. When he opened the door, she asked him if had asked to wait with her because he had realized that he had made a mistake. Jason reminds her of the promise she made to Alexis about staying away from him. She says she wants them to try again, and asks if he can do that knowing she slept with Ric. She wants to know if he is hanging around just because he feels sorry for her. Sam brings up sleeping with Ric, and Jason tries to walk away from her. She keeps pushing him to say what he really feels, because she knows he hates what she has done. 

Jason explodes, shouting Ric is his enemy, and her mother's husband. Jason asks how Sam could do that to herself and him. Sam did it to punish herself because he left her and everyone thought of her as trash so she just stopped thinking, stopped caring. The thing she remembers was waking up on the floor, realizing what she had done, and knowing Jason would hate her for it. She knew Jason loved her even before he said it because of the look of love her gave her, and she knows he won't look at her like that again. Jason says if that she had slept with anyone else he might have been able to accept it. He thought she knew he still loved her even though he was pushing her away. 

Sam reminds him of all the times she came to him, begging him to take her back. Jason knows he set everything in motion with her and Ric, but SHE slept with him. Jason tells her he wants to get past it, but he doesn't know how. Sam asks if Jason thinks she'll ever sleep with Ric again, and he responds no. She then asks if he'll ever sleep with Liz again. Sam tells him that even though she doesn't have any right to feel betrayed and broken-hearted, but she does. Jason tells her about seeing her and Ric together, and how he came home to drink and forget. He also tells her Liz had nowhere else to go, and that they didn't plan on sleeping together. They comforted each other. Sam tells him knowing that hurts worse than knowing they slept together. She asks him how he feels about Liz, and he replies she is a friend. Sam than asks how he feels about herself. Jason tells her about how he can't let go of things. He tells her about his love for Robin, and how something inside of him broke when she told A.J he was Michael's biological father. He talks of Carly and her betrayal. 

Sam suggests that maybe they should just give up, and remember all of their memories happily instead of destroying what they had. Sam will love him the rest of her life, no matter what. Jason says he doesn't trust himself to let go of the answer, but he needs to try. If he doesn't, he may lose her forever. Sam takes off her ring and offers it to him, but he doesn't want it. She tells him that Jason can put it back on her finger when they are ready to make those promises again. They embrace and hold each other tightly when Sonny interrupts them. Jason tells Sam he may have to leave, but he will call her when he returns. Later, Jason pulls out a picture of him and Sam and gazes at it, and then places it in his back pocket before leaving the penthouse. Liz stares at her pregnancy test, her mind flashing back to the night she and Jason spent together, and then she utters one word: Pregnant. 

Alexis tells Sam that the cancer has spread, and Sam firmly tells her they will fight. Alexis brings up Sam's promise about Jason and she tells her not to worry about it anymore. 

Sam sits by Alexis while she sleeps. She goes out in the hallway to call Jason to leave him a message about Alexis' prognosis. Alexis has a dream where she relives what happened when she found Ric and Sam having sex at the cottage but this time she confronts them about what they did and they ignore her and continue to make love as if she wasn't there. Alexis wakes up from the dream and can hear Sam talking outside her hospital room. She calls to her and asks her who she was talking to? Sam lies and tells her she was just calling the office to let them know she wasn't coming in today to work. Alexis tells her not to put her life on hold or miss work because she is sitting around watching her all day. 

When Ric enters her room Alexis is talking to Sam about how she is happy she doesn't have to attend the mayor's boring cocktail party at his home. Ric has a cup of coffee for Alexis but she tells him she can't have coffee because of doctor's orders. She tells Ric that she needs him to go to the party and put up appearances that she is doing well enough that he didn't need to be by her bedside 24 hours a day so that the mayor would feel confident that she could do her job if she got better. 

Alexis asks Ric to bring Sam to the party and asks Sam to show up as well to assure the mayor that she wasn't on her deathbed. Sam doesn't want to go to the party and tells Alexis that she wouldn't give a good impression since she has terrible party skills. Ric sees how insistent Alexis is being about it and agrees to escort Sam to the party. Sam reluctantly agrees to attend the party with Ric. Sam and Ric meet up at the docks. Ric tells her he covered for her at the office. 

Sam thanks him but doesn't want to attend the party with him but she will for Alexis. She makes it clear to Ric that she will not be having any more one-night stands with him in the future and that she hates him. Ric reminds her that she agreed that they would try to get along for Alexis' sake. Sam tells him she agreed to go to the party with him to please Alexis but that is as far as it goes. Ric is about to say something in response but changes his mind and leaves the docks. 

Elizabeth sees Sam heading for the elevators. She approaches Sam and asks her how Alexis is doing. Sam tells her that the news isn't good and that the cancer spread. Elizabeth asks Sam if she knows how she can reach Jason. Sam asks her what it is about. Elizabeth tells her it is a private matter between friends and nothing else. Sam still wants to know. Elizabeth tells Sam that Jason is just a friend and she has no intention of sleeping with him again after Sam asks her if she regrets sleeping with Jason like she regrets sleeping with Ric. 

Sam tells her that it is officially over between Jason and her and that she made a promise to Alexis that she would stay away from Jason. Sam lies and tells her she doesn't know where Jason is and how to contact him. Elizabeth has an exam later and Dr. Lee confirms that she is pregnant. Elizabeth surprises Dr. Lee when she tells her that she doesn't know who the father is and that she needs to order a paternity test. 

Sonny and Sam discuss breaking their promises to Alexis should she not recover from the cancer. Sonny asks Sam how far they are willing to go to keep her wishes. Alexis tells Sam that her girls are fortunate to have her. Sam tells Alexis that she would do anything for her sisters. Alexis comments on the awkwardness that she has noticed between herself and Ric. She suggests that Sam really try and give him a chance as it would be much easier on the girls. Ric asks Sam to be ready for 7:00 for the party. He tells her that he wishes to create a united front with her on Alexis's behalf. Sam voices her disgust over his idea. Ric asks Sam if her constant commenting on the possibility of them together is a warning or an invitation. 

Liz arrives at Sonny's and informs him that she is looking for Jason. Sonny tells her that he is away on business at the moment, but that Jason would be willing to assist her when he gets back. Sonny informs Liz that he knows they value each other's friendship, but she should keep in mind that he is in love with Sam. 

At Metro Court, Sam brought a file of crime statistics to the mayor. Surprise! P.C. was deemed a violent town. The mayor asked Sam how Alexis was doing, and then mentioned that Ric had stated Sam was going to be his escort for the evening. She cringed. Mayor Floyd reiterated that for appearance sake, he's really glad that she's not seeing Jason any more. Sam, who was all dressed up to take Alexis's place at the mayor's cocktail party, arrived at GH. Alexis took note as Ric complimented Sam's outfit. Alexis asked Ric for a favor, to make Sam a "priority" tonight. Sam ran into Jax as he was leaving Alexis's room. He asked if she'd spoken to the oncologist. Sam said it wasn't looking very good. Jax credited Alexis's high spirits to Sam. When Sam arrived at her mother's room, Alexis told Sam how pretty she looked and sent the two of them off to the function. Once there, Sam told Ric that they may be in the same room, but they're not "together." On the balcony, Ric and Sam's conversation got heated. He grabbed Sam by the arm and she retaliated by pulling a knife on him. Sam demands that he stop touching her. 

While they were talking, Carly came and took the knife away from Sam and demanded that Ric leave her alone. She said that she would have no qualms on using the knife on him, and would be able to get away with it. She warned Ric that if he was not careful that there could be problems. After he went inside, Carly let Sam know that she knew that the two of them had a one-night stand. Sam felt that Carly would think even less of her since she found out, however Carly sympathized with what she had to deal with, and promised to be an ally. 

Jax asked Sam how she was doing, and she let it be known that she wanted to leave. He told her that since she had made her presence and said hello, that she should be able to go home. She let her know that "obligations" prevented her from doing so, and went to take photos with Ric and the Mayor. After she left them alone to chat, the Mayor implied that with Alexis out of commission, and who knows how long she would be unavailable, he hoped that Ric would support him. Ric let him know that he would be willing to do whatever necessary. 

At the hospital, Alexis asked Sam why Sonny would have provoked Ric the way he did at the mayor's cocktail party the night before. She was furious with Sonny's behavior and broke into another coughing spell. "Dammit, I need you all to get along," she shouted to her daughter. 

A confused Sam asked Nikolas to meet her at Metro Court. She confided that Ric is not suitable father material to raise Kristina and Molly. She asked Nik to speak to Alexis about him being the girls guardian instead of Ric. Nik said there's no way the fathers would go for that. Ric arrived and Nik noticed the tension between Sam and her stepfather. After Ric left, Nik demanded to know what Ric has done. Sam didn't spill the beans. 

Sam and Ric visit Alexis at her hospital room. Alexis tells them that she has pneumonia and will be put into a medically induced coma so they can treat her on a ventilator. Sam is very upset with that news especially when Alexis tells her she could die while in the coma. Alexis pleads with them to get along and raise her daughters in case she doesn't make it. Sam leaves the room. Ric follows her outside. He touches Sam's arm to get her attention. Sam asks him to leave her alone. Ric reminds her that she is not following Alexis' wishes by trying to get along with him. Sam calls Jax and tells him that Alexis is not doing too good and that Alexis wants to see him right away. Sonny shows up while Ric and Sam are there. Sam goes out to make a phone call on her cell-phone at some point and calls and leaves a message for Jason. Elizabeth comes out of the hospital and overhears most of the conversation. Sam tells her that she and Jason agreed to try one more time to make their relationship work and that she lied that day when she told her it was over between them for good. Sam tells her that she is okay with what happened between Elizabeth and Jason and that she has no right to pass judgment after she slept with Ric. Elizabeth tells her she is just friends with Jason and reminds her that she is married. 

Ric shows up with the nanny, Sam, and the girls. Alexis tries to explain what is going to happen but Kristina doesn't understand what is going on. Alexis cries while they leave. Sonny ends up in the hallway with Ric and Sam. He asks Ric if the girls are in the waiting area. Ric tells him that he had Viola bring the girls home. Sonny tells them that he has no intention of letting Ric raise his daughter and that he is taking Kristina home with him tonight. Sonny informs Ric and Sam that he wants Kristina to come and stay with him until Alexis recovers. Sam tries to change Sonny's mind about removing Kristina from the house, believing that it is in Kristina's best interest to stay where she is. 

A haunting ballad opens a music montage to scenes of anxious clockwatching accompanied Lulu's abortion appointment, Elizabeth removed her wedding ring and threw it at an erratic Lucky who accidentally knocked her to the floor during their fight. Nikolas ran in, helping Liz and asking Lucky, "Do you have any idea what you could've done?" 

Sam and Sonny were alarmed to see Krissy still so fond of "Daddy Ric." Once the tot was in bed, Sonny tried to evict Ric. "I have a baby daughter who needs me," Ric reminded. Sam tried to mediate but Sonny feared Sam would protect Kristina from Ric the same way she'd protected herself. Ric blasted Sam for her revisionist history version of their one-nighter. Sonny brought up the time Ric had made Carly believe he'd raped her. 

"Don't tell me I use women. You wrote the book," Ric countered, reminding Sonny he'd actually gotten Sam pregnant. Sonny yelled at Ric to keep his voice down or risk being shut up for good. "Think about what you're doing," Ric warned before leaving to check on Alexis. Sam questioned Sonny's Ric handling tactics, so Sonny questioned hers. 

"You do not get to stand there and lecture me," he warned. "If you didn't take your clothes off..." He then changed gears, saying he wanted to protect Sam, Kristina and Molly. At GH, Ric got an update on Coma Alexis and then met with Lorenzo. Sam told Sonny she was just trying to raise the girls the way Alexis would want, even denying herself Jason in the process. 

At the hospital, Elizabeth talked to Kelly about her pregnancy and the possibility that it might be Jason's. Kelly asked Elizabeth if she could choose, who would she want her baby's father to be. She said Lucky, but the Lucky she used to know. Right now, Jason is the better choice. Kelly had her doubts, but Elizabeth explained that Jason is better father material than he might seem at first glance. Elizabeth checked in with Sam to see how Alexis is doing. 

Jason returned home and informed Sonny that he's done everything he can to keep Alcazar at bay, but warned that the war they were hoping to avoid is coming a lot sooner than they thought. Jason said that Alcazar is becoming stronger and more powerful than ever. Sonny dismissed Alcazar's overtures. Sonny told Jason Carly's been looking for him and needs him. Jason said their focus should be on Alcazar, but Sonny said Alcazar could easily be dealt with by a bullet through the heart. 

Jason paid a visit to Sam, who expressed her feelings, worries and doubts while Alexis is sick. Jason presented Sam with a gift. Jason ran into Elizabeth, who told him she just returned from the courthouse where she filed for divorce. Elizabeth rehashed how she and Lucky had argued and how he had knocked her down accidentally during the argument. Liz told him she's been waiting for Jason to come home because she has something to tell him. 

Elizabeth tries to tell Jason that she is pregnant and he could be the father but she notices Sam watching them talking from nearby and loses her nerve. Sam apologizes for interrupting and offers to leave so they can talk. Elizabeth tells her that she needs to get back to work and only wanted to talk to Jason about her current problems with Lucky. Sam gets a call on her cell-phone and walks over to a more private corner to take the call. Jason asks her what she wanted to tell him but Elizabeth tells him it was nothing. Jason insists she tell him what is wrong. Elizabeth asks Jason to not harm Lucky, even if he tries to go after him as a cop. Jason tells her he isn't afraid of Lucky harming him and is concerned about Elizabeth's safety more. Sam returns over to talk to them. Elizabeth leaves. 

Sam tells Jason that she just got a call from the hospital. Apparently, Kristina had a temper tantrum about wanting to see Alexis, and Viola brought her to the hospital to see Alexis and Kristina freaked out when she saw Alexis in her coma. She tells him she has to go take care of Kristina at the hospital. Sam gets to the hospital and Epiphany complains about Viola's poor judgment in bringing Kristina to see her mother like this. Sam defends Viola and promises to help Kristina. Kristina walks out of Alexis' room with Viola. Sam talks to her and tries to reassure her that Alexis is just in a deep sleep so she can get better and that she isn't going to die. Sam makes Kristina feel better. 

Elizabeth suffers more morning sickness at work. Epiphany stops her from falling on the floor in a faint and sits her down for a private talk. Epiphany lets her know that she already knows she is pregnant when Elizabeth lies and tells her she didn't eat lunch or sleep well last night. Elizabeth confides in Epiphany about Lucky's drug addiction and how he was unfaithful to her. She also admits that she doesn't know who the father of her unborn baby is. Epiphany assumes that Patrick could be the father and starts calling him all sorts of names. Elizabeth is flabbergasted that everyone thinks she slept with Patrick. Elizabeth reluctantly tells her that Jason could be the father after Epiphany promised not to tell anyone her secret. 

Jason meets with Alcazar, who thinks that Jason is in a vulnerable position because of all the problems he is dealing with and with Sonny in therapy. Jason warns him that he can take care of himself and Sonny. Sam listens in on the conversation while she steps away into a dark corner so Alcazar won't see her. After Alcazar leaves the docks, Sam approaches Jason. She shares her fears about Alexis and how she doesn't know how to help Kristina understand about what Alexis is going through without scaring her. Jason offers to be there for her if she wants him to be around. Sam tells him she wants him to be around for her. Jason tells her that he wants that too. 

Jason and Sam are discussing starting over when he receives a call from Liz telling him that Alexis is getting worse. Sam and Nik arrive at the hospital and find Robin and Patrick for an update on Alexis. Robin informs the two that Alexis's lung has collapsed and that they need to perform surgery to insert a tube into the chest to relieve some of the pressure. She informs them that Alexis is weakened by the cancer and the pneumonia. 

Nik asks Robin and Patrick if this means that she may not survive the surgery. Patrick informs them that Alexis might die if they do not allow them to operate. Nik agrees to sign off on the paperwork permitting them to perform the surgery. Patrick informs Nik that he has made the right decision and that she will be in good hands. Nik informs Sam that he is starting to share her concerns about Ric raising the girls, should something happen to Alexis. Nik suggests a compromise in which Sam would be their guardian and they would work out a custody arrangement with Sonny and Ric. Sam tells Nik that it's an interesting idea, but she is willing do anything for them. Nik informs her that should she decide to take over as guardian; she will need to end her relationship with Jason. 

Sam tells Jason that she really wish that things had been different with her not having slept with Ric and him not having slept with Liz. Sam informs him that Nik has suggested that she be Molly and Kristina's guardian should anything happen to Alexis, but the agreement is only valid if she keeps her distance from him. Jason tells her that they both are aware of the issues of what tore them apart, and even though it hurts he is willing to try and get past things. Jason told Sam that he doesn't want to lose the years they spent together. Sam noted that if Alexis dies, then she can never see him again in order to keep the girls safe from his violent world. "I'm going to have to find a way to stop needing you," she sighed. Jason told Sam that he missed her all the time. They reminisced about the good times they shared. 

Sam showed up at the hospital just as Robin emerged with an update on Alexis's surgery. Alexis survived but her condition was still touch-and-go. Nik told Jason that if Sam did have to raise the girls, he'd have to stay away from her. Jason said he'd respect Alexis's wishes. Jason then asked Liz what she thought about Alexis's condition. Liz said she didn't think Alexis would survive. Just then, Mac approached Liz and started to browbeat her for Lucky's actions. Jason stepped in to protect her from Mac's misguided wrath. Later, Jason went up to the roof where Liz was taking a breather. They fantasized about taking a trip to Italy. Liz then lamented about her situation with Lucky. "Lucky's a walking time bomb," she sighed. "Please watch your back." 

At the pier, Jason was talking on the phone, discussing Alcazar's movements, when Sam and Kristina came by. Kristina ran to Jason and asked if they could go back on the boat. Jason let her know that the boat was being repaired, and maybe some other time. Sam sent Kristina to go get some ice cream, and asked if Jason would be willing to meet her later alone to talk. He agreed, and Sam and Kristina left. Later on Alcazar came by, he let Jason know that he was expecting a shipment, and hoped that he would not have any problems. Jason said that as always, if Alcazar left the Corinthos organization alone, he would leave Alcazar alone. Alcazar let Jason know that if he crossed him, that he would bring the Corinthos organization down. 

Jason came by the hospital wanting to talk to Liz. When he asked how she was doing, she started to go on about her problems with Lucky, but then stopped herself, promising him that she would stop laying everything on him. Jason let her know that he was there to help, and that she should not keep everything in. Liz was appreciative that he had come by to see how she was doing, and Jason let her know that he also had a favor to ask of her. He asked if she had ever seen Ric and Alcazar talking at the hospital. Liz let him know that she had seen them together a couple of times, but since Ric was there for Alexis and Alcazar was part of the hospital board, they could be discussing hospital business. Jason asked Liz to let him know if she ever saw them together to let him know, but not to get involved. 

Lucky called Jason, and asked to meet with him, luring him in saying that he had information about Sam. Later on, when Jason and Lucky met, Lucky pulled a gun out on Jason, and asked him to hold still. He let Jason know that he was arresting him on drug charges, and when Jason tried to let him know that the charges would never stick because everyone knew that he stayed away from drugs, both professionally and personally. That is when Lucky threw down the bags of heroine, and heard someone coming. He got nervous, and accused Jason of having back up. 

Jason tried to reason with Lucky, who did not listen, and shot his gun towards the footsteps. As shots were fired, Liz fell to the ground. Luckily she was unharmed, but boy was she angry. She then blurted out that she's pregnant. Lucky was stunned, but Liz was disgusted when she realized that Lucky was trying to frame Jason. Liz had Jason take her to the hospital to be checked out. 

Nikolas arrived, and the family debated whether to bring Alexis out of her medically-induced coma. Nik and Sam said to wake her up, but Ric didn't want to. Nik overruled Ric. Once alone with Alexis, Ric begged his wife to recover. Later, Alexis woke up and even though she still had pneumonia, her oncologist advised her to start chemotherapy. 

At the hospital, Kelly almost let it slip in front of Jason that he could be the father of Liz's baby. The girls covered, but Kelly wondered why Jason wasn't suspicious. Epiphany told Jason that he needs to step up and help Liz. He agreed and asked Liz to let him help her as a friend. Liz asked Jason to recount what happened with Lucky. After listening to the harrowing story, Liz needed to go back to the apartment to get a few things. Jason agreed to accompany her. They ran into Lucky, who told them he's checking into rehab that night so he can be a proper husband and father.
