Jason & Sam #11  May 24 – July 26, 2006 – 8 hours

Jason decides to make his move on the Escobars. Epiphany asks Jason to fire her son. Upon learning that her mother has become Port Charles' new district attorney, Sam reminds Alexis how any legal pursuit of Jason will put a big damper on their newfound relationship. Jason informs Juan he's just taken control of the entire Escobar empire.

Emily checks on Sam. Sam tells her about Jason breaking up with her and how heartbroken she is. She asks Emily to talk to Jason and convince him not to let her go because he feels he has to protect her from his business. Emily isn't so sure she can convince Jason of anything right now.

Elizabeth visits Jason and thanks him for paying all of Lucky's medical bills and rehab sessions. She isn't so sure Lucky will accept this generosity from Jason but will accept it because of her son. She goes back to the hospital and runs into Emily who is on her way to see Jason herself. Elizabeth unnerves Emily when she tries to persuade her from trying to convince Jason to go back to Sam. She feels that Jason is doing what he thinks is right to protect Sam and that she can understand him. Emily goes to see Jason anyway to persuade him not to make any more mistakes.

Jason gets a visit from Diego before she gets there. Diego acts as a messenger for Escobar. He warns Jason that if he goes to meet for dinner with Escobar he will not leave there alive. Jason accuses him of having no loyalty to anyone he works for and kicks him out. Diego tells him he is making a big mistake. Jason ignores him and talks to Stan about his mother's concerns and that he feels Escobar is behind the shooting of Sam. He gets ready to meet with Escobar when Emily shows up. She tries to convince him to be with Sam and stop making more mistakes. Jason tells her he misses Sam every day but he can't be with her.

Jason sees someone aiming a gun from the window and covers Emily on the floor as a bullet goes through the patio window. Jason makes sure she stays down while he checks the window. Carly goes to see Sam. Sam persuades her to talk to Jason for her. Alexis overhears their conversation. Carly leaves Sam's room. Alexis follows her to the elevator. She asks Carly not to talk to Jason because it wouldn't be in Sam's best interest.

Dr. Lee informs Sam that she is doing extremely well and that she should be able to go home quite soon. Once Dr. Lee has left the room, Alexis inquires as to whether Sam has given much thought as to what she is going to do when she leaves the hospital. Sam naturally assumes that she will be with Jason. Alexis tells Sam that they recently purchased a house, and if things don't go quite as Sam has planned with Jason, she is welcome to come and live with Ric, the girls and herself.

Stan tells Jason that the bullet was a warning from Escobar's men. Carly comes to see Jason, and sees the cracked window and asks if anyone got hurt. Jason informs Carly that if the glass hadn't held, Emily would be dead. Jason tells Carly that he has to leave, but wonders what she wanted. Carly tells Jason that Alexis came to her asking her to help keep Sam and him apart. Carly has realized though that Jason is really happy with Sam and she feels that they should be together. Jason tells Carly that he needs to keep his distance from Sam because of the shooting.

Sonny enters the restaurant and hits Escobar over the back with a wine bottle. Sonny then begins kicking him as he lies on the ground. One of Escobar's men grabs Sonny from behind, while the other one punches him in the face. Jason runs in and orders Escobar's men to let Sonny go.

Sonny is brought back to his house, where he receives a few stitches for his cut. Jason reprimands Max and Milo for allowing Sonny to be out on his own. Jason asks Sonny why he attacked Escobar in a room full of his men. Sonny tells Jason that he was trying to protect Emily because Jason couldn't. Sonny explains to Jason how difficult it is to be the boss of the organization, and the decisions to be made. Jason informs Sonny that his plans were not thought out and he could have gotten himself killed. Jason vows that he will do whatever it takes to keep his loved ones safe.

Emily goes to visit Sam and update her on how things went with Jason. Sam realizes that things may be worse when she hears about the recent shooting. She thanks Emily for trying to get through to Jason on her behalf. Nik checks in on Sam to see how she's feeling. He offers her a brief history on the Cassadine family, which Sam graciously accepts. Nik comments on his fondness of Alexis, and mentions that she is probably the sanest of them all. He also tells her of Helena's recent disappearance.

Sam attempts to leave her bed to go and find Jason, believing that she had seen him in the hall. Elizabeth stops Sam and gets her to get back into bed. Nik goes to see Sam and brings her a box of Belgium chocolates. Sam thanks him but says that it wasn't necessary since she asked him to come and see her. Nik tells Sam that he figures that she had a problem, and he would like to help her if he can.

Sam asks Nik to take her to see Jason since he won't come to see her. Nik is unsure on whether or not he should take her since it could jeopardize her health. Elizabeth enters the room and tells Nik that moving her is out of the question since she is recovering from major brain surgery. Sam asks Elizabeth if she felt that she was losing Lucky, wouldn't she do anything to try and get him back.

Elizabeth enters Sam's hospital room to change her IV. Sam tells Elizabeth that she still hasn't answered her question regarding what she would do if Lucky had pushed her away. Elizabeth tells Sam that their circumstances are different as Lucky and Jason are nothing alike. Elizabeth tells Sam that when Jason makes a decision out of love, it will be very hard to change his mind. After Elizabeth leaves, Sam pulls out her IV and sneaks out of the hospital to find Jason.

Arriving at the penthouse, Stan tells Jason that he has heard on the police radios that Escobar has been shot through the heart. Stan asks if Sonny had an alibi for the time of the shooting, and Jason informs him that Sonny was with Alexis. Stan tells Jason that a contractor will be out soon to repair the window. Jason tells Stan to leave the window, as he would like it as a reminder of his life.

Alexis and Detective Rodriguez stop by the penthouse to question Jason about Escobar's shooting. Detective Rodriguez tells Jason that he could take him down to the station to refresh his memory, however Jason informs him that he would like to contact his lawyer first. Alexis tells him that it isn't necessary since all of the witnesses have disappeared.

Detective Rodriguez asks Jason if he has an alibi for the time of the shooting. Jason tells him that his guards can vouch for him. Alexis tells the Detective that they do not have any other questions as they do not have enough evidence to implicate Jason. Detective Rodriguez leaves so that Alexis can have a moment alone with Jason. Alexis tells Jason that since he was able to get away with murder proves that he should not be with Sam. While on the phone, Jason hears a knock at the door. He is surprised to see Sam standing there. She tells him that she forgot her keys.

Alexis enters Sam's room only to find it empty. Believing that her daughter is in the bathroom, she tries knocking on the door. After receiving no answer, she opens the door and realizes that Sam is not in there either. Alexis finds Epiphany in hallway and asks if Sam has been brought for any tests. Epiphany tells Alexis that no tests have been scheduled. Alexis suggest that perhaps her daughter went for a walk. Epiphany tells Alexis that it is much too soon for Sam to be up and that it could still be hazardous to her health.

When Jason opened the door at his apartment, Sam was standing there wet from the rain. As she was about to plea her case to him, she almost fainted. When Jason carried her into the apartment and on the sofa, Sam continued to try and convince Jason that they should stay together. She felt that she had accepted his life a long time ago, and that his taking the business over did not change anything. During their conversation, Jason got a phone call from Alexis, who asked if Sam was with him. When he told her that Sam was there, Alexis said that she would be there with an ambulance.

Jason told her that it was not necessary, and that he would take her back to the hospital. Sam refused to leave, saying that she needed Jason to understand that since they both loved each other, that they should stay together. As she was pleading her case, Alexis showed up. Sam asked Alexis to leave since she was having a personal conversation with Jason.

Alexis, extremely upset with Sam, told her that she was jeopardizing her recovery after brain surgery. Sam refused to leave, determined to talk to Jason, and change his mind. She told him not to allow Alexis to intimidate him when it came to their relationship. When Jason told her that Alexis had nothing to do in regards to the steps he had taken, Sam was in shock. Alexis convinced Sam to go back to the hospital, and said to address the issue once she recovered. As Sam was leaving the apartment on the stretcher, she told Jason she wouldn't give up on them.

Once alone in the apartment, Jason is visited by Sonny. Sonny apologizes, stating that he should not have called Jason a hypocrite. He knew that Jason broke it off with Sam, and that it had something to do with what he had to say. Sonny tried to convince Jason, that in the long run all that mattered was the love that Sam and Jason felt.

Jason visited Coleman to shake him down for protection money. Diego appeared and told Jason that his father is already "protecting" Jake's, but Coleman tossed the punk and denied any deals. Jason vowed to be tougher than Sonny was: 15% of bar receipts and 20% of the chop shop and any other business which better not include drugs, underage girls or Jason's friends,

Later, at Metro Court, Jason met with Alcazar (as Carly lurked) and told him about Diego making threats in his name. Alcazar fretted that Jason was just looking for an excuse to take him out. Alcazar later told Carly to tell Jason to back off, but Carly assured him that if Jason wanted to kill him, he would be dead.

At the hospital, Alexis showed Sam the house pictures including the room that would be Sam’s. Sam was sure she could change Jason's mind and go home with him. Alexis insisted Jason's life has no room for Sam. Sam insisted that at 26, she'll never fit Alexis' image of a professional woman.

Jason talks to Elizabeth about Sam's progress. Elizabeth tells him that Sam had a slight fever after going to go see him but she is fine now. Jason asks Elizabeth to let him know how she is doing from time to time. Sam overhears him as she comes out of her room. She asks Jason to talk to her if he wants to know how she is doing instead of asking Elizabeth then sneaking away. Jason tries to leave without talking to Sam.

Elizabeth asks Sam to go back to her room and Jason will go in afterwards. She tells Jason that Sam has a right to say how she feels about their relationship if he is going to end it. Jason listens to Elizabeth and goes in to talk to Sam. Sam asks him when he stopped loving her. Jason tells her that it wouldn't be easier if he didn't love her. He tells Sam that he wouldn't blame her if she hated him for ending their engagement. She tells him that she could never hate him and that she plans to find some way for them to be together again.

Jason leaves without commenting. Jason makes a call to someone asking for help. Justus shows up at Sam's room. He hands her a document and tells her that Jason asked him to give it to her. It is a trust in her name that gives her $5 million to live on from Jason. She realizes that Jason is trying to pay her to keep her out of his life. Jason goes home and looks at the bullet hole in the window of his penthouse.

Sonny shows up at Jason's. He tells Jason that he wants to turn the coffee warehouse into a franchise of coffee shops with his name on them and have them be all over the city. Jason listens to Sonny's crazy plans and asks him if there is something wrong with him. Sonny doesn't get a chance to respond when Sam shows up and pushes her way through the penthouse. She confronts Jason about the money he is trying to give her and rips up the document in front of him. She tells Jason she has no intention of letting him try to pay her off.

Sam enters Jason's penthouse and informs him of how offensive his offer was to pay her off. She begins to tear up the contract in front of him. Jason tells Sam that she really needs to stop leaving the hospital because it is not healthy for her and could kill her.

Sonny tries to tell Sam to calm down, as Jason is just concerned for her health. Sam informs Sonny that Jason has offered her $5 million dollars to get out of his life. Trying to smooth out the situation, Sonny suggests that perhaps she is reading too much into the situation. Sam tells Jason that this is the first time that he has treated her like a whore. Jason asks Sonny to bring Sam back to the hospital.

Sam tells Sonny that she thought that if she saw Jason, she could talk things through with him about their relationship. Sonny informs Sam that he tried to change Jason's mind too, but when Jason gets something in his head there is no changing it.

Alexis is pleased to see her daughter when Sam and Sonny arrive back at the hospital. Elizabeth steps in and informs Sam that she may be able to go home after Patrick examines her. Sam walks away with Elizabeth leaving Alexis and Sonny alone. Alexis informs Sonny that she will put up with him, but she is not going to allow Sonny to upset Sam or Kristina.

Being offered a clean bill of health, Sam is told that she is allowed to go home. Alexis asks Sam if she would like to come and stay with her. Sam suggests that perhaps it would be best if she just went and stayed at a hotel. Alexis tells Sam that she really hopes that she won't do that, and finally Sam agrees to come and stay with her.

Arriving at Alexis's new house, Sam is welcomed with open arms by Kristina. Kristina then gives Sam a card that she drew for her. Ric excuses himself and the children as they go to prepare Sam's new room. Alexis suggests that Sam rest while she makes her something to eat. Sam thanks Alexis for everything.

Alexis and Ric begin cuddling on the couch drinking wine, while discussing how perfect their lives appear to be. Alexis thanks Ric for grounding her and being such a great support while finding out that Sam was her daughter. Ric happens to glance out the window and sees Sam standing in her night gown on the patio.

Emily arrives at Jason's looking for Sonny. Jason informs her that Sonny brought Sam back to the hospital. Emily begins asking Jason how things went between Sonny and himself. Jason informs her that things were fine and that Sonny was looking to expand the coffee business. Emily is about to leave when Jason asks her if she felt that Sonny has been acting a little off. Emily tells Jason that Sonny has never been better.

Emily continues to say that Sonny feels like he has had a huge burden taken off of his shoulders with no longer having the business and that he is now able to try to do things that he has never had the opportunity to try. Trying to change the conversation, Emily asks Jason why Sonny needed to play peacemaker. Jason tells Emily about offering Sam the money. Emily tells Jason that every woman likes to feel financially independent and that he really needs to fix things with Sam.

Jason arrives at the hospital wanting to speak with Sam. He walks into her room and finds the bed stripped down. Elizabeth enters and informs Jason that Sam was discharged and went home with Alexis. Elizabeth and Jason continue to talk as Manny watches them from a doorway. At the hospital, Elizabeth prods Jason to take Sam back. Jason asks Elizabeth to pack up Sam's belongings and return them to her.

Jason went to drop off Sam's clothes and personal items at Alexis. Alexis thanked him, and let him know that Sam was asleep, but that she would let her know that he showed up. As Jason was about to leave, Sam came to the front door and asked him to stay. When Alexis went back into the house, Sam asked Jason how he would be so willing to give up on them.

Jason reiterated that he loved her, and would never love anybody more, however, he was no longer willing to put her in danger. Sam was visibly upset hearing this, and said that she would have never given up on them so easily. When Jason left, she kicked over the box he brought over, and out fell her daughter's blanket. As she sat there crying, Manny was in the bushes spying on her.

Elizabeth shows up at Jason's penthouse. She is let in by the guard and watches Jason stare out the window longingly. She tells him he should call Sam and try to get back with her since it is obvious he is miserable without her. Jason knows she didn't come there to talk about Sam and asks her why she is there to see him. She asks him for a favor concerning Lucky. She asks him to help her set up an arrest of someone in the mob who he doesn't like and wouldn't mind helping the police arrest.

Jason thinks her reasoning is funny and can't help but laugh. She wants to help Lucky get his confidence back as a cop after he has been blaming himself for Jesse's death. She thinks that if Lucky can make an important arrest that will make the difference in his behavior. She tells Jason about Lucky's suspicions toward her being with Patrick and how he accused her again of being with him. Jason thinks of someone he wouldn't mind being arrested and agrees to help make sure that Lucky makes the arrest.

Sam tries to set up a way to get Jason to come over to Alexis' house so she can see him. She gets an idea after reading a fairytale to Kristina. Ric shows up early from work and tells her he is going to work at home for a few hours where it is quieter. Sam tries to get him to go to the park and surprise the girls there so she can have the house to herself. Ric asks her if she is trying to get rid of him. She tells him that she wanted to have the house to herself for awhile but tells him he is working and didn't want to say anything.

She goes outside onto the deck and makes a call to Emily. She asks Emily to call Ric and make up an excuse for why he must come over to see Sonny immediately. Emily isn't sure it will work but agrees to help her if it means Jason may take Sam back. She calls Ric on his cell-phone and asks him to come over right away to help Sonny. He leaves the house. Sam waits awhile and calls Jason. She tells him she didn't know who else to call and tells him that she thinks someone is outside the house and is watching her. Jason tells her to stay inside and he will be right there. He shows up and finds Sam hiding behind the couch and holding a knife. She runs to him holds him and tells him she knew he would come and help her.

Sam arrives at the penthouse with her suitcase in hand, and tells Jason that she needs to move back in with him so that he can protect her. While talking, Jason discovers that Sam faked the intruder incident at Alexis's house. Jason tells Sam that he knows that she is hurt, but that there is no need to lie to him.

Jason escorts Sam back to Alexis's house. He asks her not to come to the penthouse again and then leaves. Sam tells Alexis the truth about faking the whole intruder scenario so that Jason will take her back. Alexis offers her concern that Sam is just setting herself up for more heartache. A stranger in black shoes steps onto the patio and begins watching Sam through the windows. Sam goes out to stand on the patio, while Manny comes out from the bushes twining rope around his hands.

Jason arrives back at the penthouse to find Elizabeth waiting for him. She tells him that she's worried about Lucky and would appreciate it if Jason went out to look for him. Stan contacts Jason and informs him of the shooting. Jason asks Elizabeth to go back to the hospital and wait for his call. Jason arrives in the alley, and tells Stan to leave. He prepares himself to shoot so that his gun will go off in synch with Lucky's shots. The arms dealer comes out from behind the garbage bin when Jason shoots him in the leg.

In the warehouse, Jason snuck up behind Lucky, shooting the dealer in the leg. Lucky believed that he made the shot, and took control of the scene while Diego begged him to let him free so he wouldn't get caught violating parole. The rest of the police arrived, and Lucky was congratulated for catching the "slimeball" that the force had been after for some time. Diego was led away by the police.

Jason sent a guard to watch over Sam because he's not sure if she was bluffing about her attacker. Unbeknownst to all, Manny was lurking outside the house. Sam visited Sonny, outlining a plan that will enable Sonny to "get back everything he lost," and her to "get back the man she loves." Sonny thought her plan brilliant and agreed to help. Sam got home and sent the guard away, asking him to tell Jason that she is sorry. From his spot in the bushes, Manny watched the whole scene with absolute glee.

Ric stopped by Jason's, revealing he's worried about Sonny and his disturbing behavior. Just as Ric was leaving, Liz walked into Jason's apartment, profusely thanking Jason for helping her out. Once alone, Liz told Jason that Lucky can never know that he wasn't the one who stopped the dealer. Jason understood and couldn't help but critique Lucky's performance: He had horrible aim, had failed to call for backup and was possibly under the influence of something. Yikes!

At Alexis' home, Kristina asked Sam to play with her. She let her little sister know that she had a doctor's appointment, but when she got back that they would play together. As Kristina was playing in the front porch, Manny came out of the bushes to talk with her. From the conversation, Manny was able to find out which room in the house was Sam's.

Sam's follow up appointment with Patrick went well, and Patrick let her know that while he would like to take credit for her survival, it was Jason who saved her life. Patrick told her that Alexis had gotten a court order against the operation, and that Jason convinced him and Liz to go ahead with the surgery. He also let her know that Alexis had them arrested after the surgery, even though she knew that Sam would survive.

Jason and Liz were together at his apartment, where he voiced his concerns about Lucky. At first Liz tried to make excuses about her husband's behavior, however, eventually she came to realization that her husband was addicted to pain medication. She asked Jason to tell her everything about the shooting, and after sharing the details, Liz lets Jason know that she is going to confront her husband about the pain medication.

While they are talking, one of Jason's men announced that Detective Spencer was there to see him. As Lucky was about to walk in, Liz hid. Lucky asked for any details regarding Sam's shooting. He said that he was going to solve the case because he felt it was the least he could do after Jason saving Liz from Manny. After Lucky left, Liz and Jason went walking at the dock, when Jason asked why Liz felt the need to hide. She let him know that she didn't want to Lucky to know that she had been going to Jason for help. Jason understood, and Liz thanked him for all of his help.

As they were walking, Sam bumped into them, and asked what was going on. Liz let her know that she was thanking Jason for helping him with Lucky. Sam's response was why Jason wouldn't give her a chance.

At the docks, Elizabeth told Sam she was just thanking Jason for a big favor. Sam asked Liz about the details of her surgery (Noah vs. Patrick), then Liz left. Sam asked Jason if she could come home. She realized that Alexis was preying on his guilt, and that her mother is "controlling." Sadly, Jason agreed with Alexis' view that Sam's shooting was his fault and he still does.

Carly appeared and Sam tried to send her away, but Jason told her to stay. Sam said casting her aside would not protect her. He left, and Carly followed him home, where she recounted the events of the christening and why she lied. Then she swore to take revenge on Robin, working herself into a frenzy recalling the Michael/AJ affair.

At home, Sam heard a noise outside and called Jason. She insisted he come because she's his responsibility. But he hung up on her and sent Stan, who gave her the all-clear before she sent him away.

Sam goes to the police station to see Alexis. Alexis is busy meeting with someone but overhears the cop tell Sam he can't disturb Alexis right now. Alexis calls the cop off and tells Sam she is happy she stopped by. Sam surprises Alexis when she hands Alexis her house key and tells her she is moving out. Alexis asks her why she is doing that. Sam blasts her for interfering in her relationship with Jason by pressuring him to leave her for her protection.

Alexis denies that she forced Jason to leave her but admits to having her transferred to another hospital and getting a court order to stop Patrick from performing surgery on her. Sam tells her that she had no right to make decisions for her when Jason knows her better than anyone and should have been making the decisions. Alexis asks Sam to let her tell her side of things.

Sam listens while Alexis explains that Noah told her that the surgery was very risky and that there was a good chance she could die from it. She also explains that she doesn't hate Jason and that she likes him but hates his line of work. Sam tells her that if she can't accept her with Jason then she needs to stay out of her life. Alexis has the cops bring Jason in for questioning.

Stan shows up at Jason's. Jason can't stop thinking about Sam's shooting and that he put her in danger. Stan complains that Jason is stretching his men too thin by putting so many bodyguards on Sam. Jason insists that Sam be protected around the clock. Skye talks to Justus about her concerns with Alcazar. She tells him about a conversation she overheard between Alcazar and someone on the phone. She worries that Alcazar is back in the mob again.

Justus goes to see Jason and tells him what he heard. Jason tells him that he thinks Alcazar has some strong ties to some government organization regarding arms dealing and drugs and that is how Louis Alcazar got away with his crimes because Lorenzo had some pull to get him cleared.

Jason shows up at the police station and hears that Diego is being let go. He asks Alexis about that. She tells him she has no choice but to let Diego go but won't tell him why. Jason tells her he won't talk to her without his lawyer present. She tells him she didn't bring him here to have him arrested. She asks him to do the right thing and stay away from Sam for her protection and to tell him that Sam found out about what she did to protect her and decided to move out.

Jason leaves the police station and heads to Kelly's. He finds Sam there. He tells her he knows she went to see Alexis and moved out. Sam confirms that she told Alexis off and that she wants to move back in with him. Jason tells her that Alexis had nothing to do with why he broke up with her and that she shouldn't blame Alexis since she was only trying to protect her. Sam can't believe Jason is defending Alexis. Jason admits that Alexis was wrong to do what she did but that doesn't change the fact that he can't be with her.

Manny crawls in through Sam's window at Kelly's and begins to look around. While in her room, Manny begins to unpack Sam's belongings and put the items away. Meanwhile, Sam wonders why Jason is working together with Alexis in trying to keep them apart, when they have always worked on opposite sides. Sam tells Jason that Patrick informed her of everything that happened while she was in the hospital including Alexis sending her away so that Jason was unable to find her. Jason says his goodbyes to Sam and walks out on her.

Alexis comes to see Sam and asks her not to be shut of her life. Sam tells Alexis to send her love to Kristina. Alexis tells Sam that she is always welcome in her home and then leaves. As Sam heads into her room she notices how everything has been put away. She instinctively grabs a bookend and searches around the room and on the fire escape.

Lainey invites Justus over for dinner, when Jason interrupts them to inform Justus that they are having problems with Sonny. Jason informs Justus of Sonny's plans of opening the coffee warehouse. Since he feels that he will be unable to keep an eye on Sonny, Jason asks Justus if he can keep a watch on Sonny for him. While talking, Justus receives a call from a man requesting a meeting between Alcazar and Jason. Justus informs the man that Jason has agreed to meet with Alcazar. Once off the phone, Justus questions Jason's motives for meeting with him. Jason tells Justus that the way Lorenzo got Diego released, it must mean that he is back into arms dealing again.

Jason receives a call from Sam informing him that someone has broken into her room. Justus agrees to go to the meeting in Jason's place. Manny receives a phone call informing him that Jason should be meeting with Alcazar in approximately thirty minutes. Jason arrives at Kelly's to see Sam. Sam shows him the room and informs him that her belongings had been lying on the bed. Jason inquires as to whether or not Sam is fibbing about this situation as well.

Justus arrives at the meeting location with Lorenzo, only to find Manny. Manny informs Justus that this is not his lucky day and points a gun at him. Sam's crying wolf regarding Manny caught up with her with Jason. However, Jason realized the window at Kelly's had been pried open from the outside, and he said that the fear in Sam's eyes was real. He believed she was indeed in danger. Jason said he wanted her to come home with him.

Back at the penthouse, Jason made it clear to Sam that this arrangement was only for her safety and only temporary. The attraction between the two was still evident, as Jason tried to resist the urge to kiss Sam. Later, Sam asked Jason to join her for dinner, but he refused to eat, "And pretend everything's like it used to be." Lainey then showed up saying she was worried about Justus. He was supposed to meet her for dinner, but never showed. Jason said he'd go look for him.

On the docks, Manny told Justus's corpse that he was unlucky, being at the wrong place at the wrong time. "But, I have use for you," grinned that tattooed wonder. Then, Manny dragged Justus's body away.

Jason arrived at the docks and found a bullet casing and blood stains. He then left the scene. Lainey showed up later with the cops and noticed the number on the door. It wasn't 26 as the six was loose and upside down. It was 29, Justus's unlucky number. She feared the worst. Diego went to put a case of wine into his car and when he opened the trunk, he was shocked to find Justus's body inside. Jason went home and told Sam that he thinks Justus was ambushed and may be dead. He pointed out another person got shot because of him, and there's no way Sam can come back to him.

Jason and Sam were at the apartment, where he was certain that Justus has been killed. Lainey came by and asked Jason to tell her what happened with Justus. She told him that she had gone to the warehouse with the police and had seen the blood and the bullet case. When Jason told her that he had seen the same thing before she had gotten there, Lainey asked Jason to let her know when he found out what happened to Justus. Jason asked Stan to take Lainey home, and after they left Jason left, telling Sam, that he was going to go make matters worse.

On the way to her house, Stan and Lainey stopped at the hospital for her to be able to get some files. Epiphany saw them come in together, and assumed that they were seeing each other. When Stan appraised her of the situation, Epiphany could not understand why he would choose to live that sort of life, and that he was wasting all of the opportunities that were presented to him.

Diego showed Lorenzo Justus' body in the trunk of his car. Lorenzo assumed that Diego had done this to start a war with Jason. After Diego told his father that he would have never done anything to Justus, especially because he had fought for him before going to prison, Lorenzo told him that he would take care of it. Lorenzo let Diego know that he had the body dropped in front of the Morgan warehouse and the car was reported as stolen. Diego was impressed with his father's insight and Lorenzo expressed disappointment about not being able to leave the business at this moment.

Jason came to talk to Edward and let him know that he thought that Justus was killed. At first, Edward did not want to believe it, especially since Jason had not seen the body. However, Jason said that he was sure that Justus had taken a bullet that had been meant for him. Edward expressed his anger towards Jason, and how he had always held out hope that he would return to the family. However, he now realized that Jason was a killer and would never change. Jason apologized for what had happened.

Stan shows up at the penthouse to tell Jason that the cops found Justus' body. Carly shows up acting very upset and asks for Jason's help. Jason is planning on dismissing her at first but she insists she needs him right now. She tells him that Jax left the country and she doesn't know if he will ever come back. She blames Robin for everything. Jason tells her he has seen her like this before and he worries that she will try and do something crazy to lash out at someone. He tells her she needs to be strong and get it together. Jason asks her to check on Sam at the hotel and tells her he has armed guards there to protect her.

The cops show up to question him about Justus' murder. Carly realizes that Justus is dead and that she walked in when Jason was grieving for him. Lucky and his partner tell Jason that Alexis would like Jason to go to the police station for questioning. Jason agrees to go. Carly leaves to go to the hotel.

Sam shows up at the hospital and asks Elizabeth if there are any job openings at G.H. Elizabeth tries to defend Jason's actions to Sam after she tells Elizabeth that Jason practically threw her out of the penthouse and had her holed up at the hotel for her own safety. Elizabeth also mentions that Justus' murder has made him more determined to keep her away for her own safety.

Sam tells her bodyguards that she is not staying at the hotel any longer and is moving back to Kelly's. She suggests they stop in the hotel restaurant and eat something before leaving the hotel. She sees Kristina, Molly, and their nanny at a table. Kristina walks over to her and looks very unhappy. She asks her what is wrong. Kristina's nanny tells her that Alexis got called in for work and was suppose to meet them there for high tea. Sam offers to sit with her and have tea with her instead. Kristina likes that idea but asks Sam why she moved out. Sam doesn't know what to tell her. Manny walks around Alexis' house and finds Molly's teddy bear.

Later, Jason shows up at the police station. Alexis already interrogated an irate Lorenzo about Justus' murder. She told Lorenzo they found his bracelet next to Justus' body and a shell casing. Lorenzo tells her he didn't kill Justus. Alexis shows Jason Lorenzo's bracelet and how it was at the murder scene. Jason doesn't know who the bracelet belongs to and doesn't know more than the fact that he sent Justus to meet with Lorenzo and doesn't know why anyone would want to kill Justus. Alexis suggests that whoever murdered Justus may have been trying to get a message to Jason that he isn't the one in power anymore.

Jason returns home. Skye shows up to talk to Jason alone. Stan leaves them to talk. Skye asks Jason straight out if he thinks Lorenzo had anything to do with Justus's murder and if he is back in the mob. Lorenzo shows up to meet with Jason. He notices that Skye is there and asks her what she is doing with Jason. Skye ignores Lorenzo and asks Jason if Lorenzo is back in the mob. Sam shows up at Alexis' to tell her she let Kristina talk her into moving back in with Alexis and Ric. Alexis is delighted by Sam's change of heart.

Skye asks Jason to confirm whether or not Lorenzo has gone back into the business for her unborn child's safety. Lorenzo informs Skye that he does not wish to discuss things in front of Jason. Jason informs Skye that he does believe that Lorenzo is back in business. Skye leaves Jason's and tells Lorenzo that for the baby's sake she will allow him to explain himself at the Metro Court.

Skye meets Lorenzo at the Metro Court and they discuss whether or not he has gone back into the business. Lorenzo informs her that he made a deal to get back into the mob to protect Diego. While talking he receives a business call on his cell phone, so Skye decides to walk out on him. Jason pulls the phone away from Lorenzo's ear and asks him to come outside. Holding Lorenzo at gunpoint, Jason asks him who is behind everything that is happening. Lorenzo informs Jason that Manny is alive and back in Port Charles with some unfinished business.

Alexis informs Sam that she is always welcome at her house, and tells her that living with them was one of the reasons that she had purchased the house. Sam tells Alexis that she may not want her living there once she says what she needs to say. Sam informs Alexis of the incident at Kelly's in which someone broke into her room and unpacked all of her belongings.

Sam informs Jason's guards that they are permitted to leave once the police have arrived. The police arrive at the house and Alexis asks for one guard to be stationed around the front entrance and the other to patrol the yard. Alexis informs Sam that she is quite pleased that she came back to stay with them. Sam tells Alexis how persuasive Kristina can be. Sam excuses herself to her room to retrieve her sweater, while Manny watches her from inside the closet.

Alexis tells Sam how proud she is that Sam is trying to make a life for herself without Jason. Alexis informs her daughter that she will be there for her. Sam decides to head off to bed. Sam is lying in bed about to go to sleep when Manny places his hand over her mouth and tells her not to scream.

Jason called Sam's phone, but Alexis wouldn't let him talk to her. Upstairs, Sam settled into bed in full makeup. Then Manny clamped a tattooed hand over her mouth and tied her up in duct tape. He warned her to come along quietly, or he'd kill Kristina. Outside, two cops confronted Jason, and Alexis refused him entry. Kristina ran upstairs to tell Sam about Jason, but found her bed empty. She told everyone Sam was missing. Jason runs up to her room to search. "Manny's got her," he sighed, recounting Manny's threats. Jason quizzed Kristina and determined she had unwittingly told "the painted man" where to find Sam.

Liz went to Jason's place. Jason returned and ordered an all-out search for Manny. Then he asked Liz for help: Since Manny once kidnapped her, maybe she holds the key to finding Sam. Elsewhere, Manny tied Sam to a chair, ripped off her gag and he taunted her to scream. "I like the way you fight," he hissed, and fired his gun to prove no one can hear. "No one is going to find you until I'm ready."

Jason tried to convince Liz that in order to save Sam he needed her to relive when Manny had kidnapped her. At first Liz was resistant, because she did not feel that it would help Jason. Jason is concerned that as he recalls her saying that when Manny grabbed her at the hospital that it reminded her of being raped. He doesn’t want to bring that back for her. She is just frustrated that she can’t remember that night that everything is a blur. Jason explained that it would help him see if there were any weaknesses in Manny's thinking to retrace his steps. The only time Manny has made a mistake has been with Liz.

As Manny tied Sam up, he shared with her that he didn't want to hurt her, but that she was a way to get to Jason. He told her that he had never wanted to kill her, but that shooting her in the back, was repayment for Jason killing his brother by shooting him in the back. Sam tries to convince Manny that Jason doesn’t love her and they are over. Manny knows that she is Jason’s biggest weakness and knowing that Manny has her will make him crazy.

#1B June 27th – Jason and Liz arrive at the hospital where Liz recounted her ordeal. Jason was appreciative of her help, and recognized that it was a difficult thing for her to relive. He was concerned for Sam's safety, and Liz tried to reassure him that Sam was a fighter and would not give up.

Jason expressed his concern that Manny was hoping that Jason would make a mistake, and that the one thing that would do that was to hurt Sam. When they returned to the apartment, Jason thanked Liz for helping him. He shared with her that going through the process with her made him realize that Manny was methodic about following through on something, that could make him over confident, and cause him to make a mistake.

Sam tried to get away by cutting away the ropes that tied her hands against a wire medicine cabinet. When Manny walked in, he moved her chair away from the cabinet, and told her that she needed to be careful otherwise she would cut her hands. When Sam called him a freak, Manny tore off his shirt, and demanded to know if Sam thought he was a freak because of his tattoos. Manny explained to Sam that Jason and him were similar, that they could look into someone's eyes, kill them, and not feel any remorse. When Sam said that Jason could control his violence, Manny said that kidnapping her would force Jason to be the man he should be, and not hide his true identity.

Sonny shows up at Jason's. Jason asks him what he is doing there? Sonny tells Jason that he needs to protect Emily from him. Jason asks him what happened with Emily and worries that Sonny may have hurt her. Sonny tells him he hasn't hurt her but is afraid in his condition that he will and tells Jason he was right all along about him being wrong for Emily. Jason asks Sonny what has been going on at home? Sonny tells him he feels the darkness coming on inside him and can't stop it and that he can't remember conversations he has had with people and that Ric tried to help him also.

Jason goes in the other room for a moment and comes back in to find Sonny rummaging in his liquor cabinet looking for alcohol. Jason takes the bottle of wine out of Sonny's hands and tells him that it will only make things worse. He smashes the bottle into the fireplace. Sonny listens while Jason tells him that he is not sick but needs to rest because he is exhausted. Sonny admits he hasn't been sleeping. Jason suggests he let him take him home. Sonny lets him do that. Jason calls Emily and Max and tells them Sonny is with him and he will be taking him home. Jason brings Sonny home and tells him he has something to do and will be back later.

Patrick and Carly are about to make love when they are interrupted by Jason’s knock. When they ignore the knock, Jason calls out that he knows she is there and needs to see her right now. Carly answers the door in her bra and panties and asks him what he wants? Jason grabs her and pulls her out into the hallway. He tells her that he needs her to come with him and help with Sonny. He tells her that he needs her that Manny has kidnapped Sam and he needs her to stay with Sonny so he can concentrate on finding her. Carly doesn't think it is a good idea that she go stay with Sonny but since Jason asks her to do it for him and she agrees.

He takes her to Sonny's and tells Emily she is going with him. Emily fights with Jason about leaving Sonny but Sonny tells her to leave and that she isn't safe with him anymore. Emily tells Jason and Carly that Sonny needs treatment from a doctor and that he has a Bipolar disorder and they need to stop trying to hide him away and think it will go away. Jason tells her that Sonny needs to rest and persuades her to go with him.

Jason takes Emily back to his penthouse and makes plans for her to take the jet to the "Island" and stay there for awhile. Emily doesn't want to go and leave Sonny. Jason tells her that he needs for her to go so he can concentrate on finding Sam and explains about Manny kidnapping her. He tells Emily that he needs to make sure she is safe and that Sonny can relax and sleep if he knows she is safe. Emily feels bad about Sam and reluctantly agrees to go away for awhile.

Sam manages to get close to the cut wire on the cage in the room Manny has her held in. She cuts the rope around her hands and gets free. She opens the door and looks out. She tries to escape but Manny catches her and ties her back up to the chair. He notices she was looking at some of the instruments on the table and shows her the tattoo needle and that he plans to put a tattoo on her when Jason gets there. He tells her some of his plans for her when Jason finds them.

Elizabeth arrives at Jason's penthouse to provide him with a timeline of her own kidnapping. She tells Jason that she hopes this will assist him in finding Sam. The PCPD arrive at the penthouse to arrest Jason. When Jason tries to find out the charges, he is informed by Detective Rodriguez that the District Attorney will personally deal with this.

Alexis informs Jason that she will be falsely charging him with Escobar's murder in hopes that Manny will allow Sam to go. Jason tries to tell Alexis that Manny will find no use with Sam if he is in jail, and will kill her. Alexis tells Jason that she is going to hold him for the 48 hours and walks out on him. She runs in Mayor Floyd who demands to know why she has called a press conference. Alexis informs him that she is trying to save her daughter.

During the press conference, Alexis makes a plea to Manny to allow her daughter to be released. She informs him that he owes her. Alexis then tells the public that Jason has been arrested for Escobar's murder and that no bail has been set. Mayor Floyd informs Alexis that the press conference may have undermined the office. The Mayor tells her that her public appeal for her daughter may be good for the votes and that it may have helped the public forget her role in allowing Manny to be set free.

While at General Hospital, Elizabeth overhears the press conference. She is about to get back to work when she remembers a discussion that she had with Manny about the secret places in General Hospital. Elizabeth goes to the police station to inform Jason that she has remembered something. Jason tells Elizabeth that he needs to find a way to get out of the department.

In the sub basement level 3 of General Hospital, Manny tries to take Sam's picture to send to Jason to prove that she is still alive. Manny asks Sam if she has anything to say to Jason, however Sam replies that does not. When Manny finds out about Jason being arrested, Manny informs Sam that she will need to plea with her mother to allow Jason out of jail. When Sam agrees to speak with Alexis regarding the matter, Manny informs her that it is not necessary as he will be sending Alexis a message that will be tattooed on her skin.

Manny warns Sam that he'll kill her if she doesn't cooperate. Jason asks for her bobbie pin and uses it to pick the lock on his handcuffs. He tells her to leave but she insists that he isn’t getting out of there without her help. Elizabeth creates a diversion to allow Jason the chance to escape from the police station and later stops Lucky from arresting Jason. Manny is about to tattoo a message on Sam when Jason bursts in with his gun drawn.

As Jason left the main area of the hospital to go look for Sam in the sub-levels of the hospital, Liz begged Lucky not to call for backup. Lucky tried to convince Liz that not calling for backup would most likely mean death for Jason and Sam, Liz convinced him that since Manny had nothing to loose, that if he is cornered by the police that he would hurt or kill Sam and that would kill Jason. Understanding where Liz was coming from, Lucky agreed to go help Jason alone.

In one of the sub-levels of the hospital, Jason saw the phone that Sam had tried to use earlier, and he barged through the door, where Manny had a gun pointed at Sam. As there was a standoff between the two of them, Lucky came in, tried to shoot Manny, who in turn shot Jason. As Manny escaped, Lucky followed after him, and Jason freed Sam.

Jason got Sam back up to the main area, and then after some advice from Liz he went to the roof to go after Manny. Once on the roof, Manny overpowered Jason, and had him across the railing. As he tried to convince Jason that they were alike, Jason was able to overpower Manny. As they were fighting, Lucky showed up, shot his gun, and Manny fell to his death.

Jason was convinced that he pushed him, while Lucky assumed that his shot hit Manny, which caused him to fall. Waiting for news about Jason, Alexis and Ric showed up to the hospital. At first Sam was happy to see her mother, however, she assumed that Jason and Alexis had worked together to help free her. Sam became extremely angry when Alexis told her that she was mistaken and that she had arrested Jason. Sam was convinced that Alexis had planned this so that Jason would be killed.

Ric tried to rejoice with Alexis that Manny was now dead, but she worried if Sam would ever forgive her for having Jason arrested. They then discovered that Jason had been seriously wounded. Sam freaked when a bloodied and unconscious Jason was wheeled into ER. "You can't die on me now," she screamed. Sam became infuriated when her mother and Ric showed up.

Carly rushed in just in time to learn Jason was in surgery. Sonny entered and apologized to Sam for not getting rid of Manny sooner. "I will never forgive myself," Sonny mumbled. Patrick came out of the OR and announced that Jason's heart had temporarily stopped during surgery. "I'm surprised that he pulled through," noted the doc "He's got a strong heart. He should be fine."

While Jason was recuperating, Sam allowed Ric to drive her back to his house so she could rest. She agreed with her stepdad that she had been through hell and back. Ric reminded Sam that Jason was only trying to protect her like Alexis has done.

Liz was given Jason's personal belongings. Patrick wondered if the wrong person was being lionized for Manny's death. Alan concurred that another bottle of painkillers had been stolen. Manny's body was blessed by someone dressed as a priest, who sported tattoos on his hands.

Alexis tells the coroner to keep the file on the autopsy of Manny Ruiz secret and buried somewhere but not destroyed. She tells him that she may need the information in case things don't work out the way she wants them to and asks him not to show the report to anyone else or make copies. The coroner tells her that it isn't the first time someone has asked him to bury an autopsy file because they didn't want the information to come out and that he can do this.

He surprises Alexis at first when he mentions that Commissioner Scorpio has asked him to bury autopsy files before because they affected people he knew personally or he was trying to help keep a case from being closed that he wanted to keep open. Alexis assumes he is talking about Mac but the coroner tells her he was talking about Robert Scorpio. Alexis realizes it doesn't concern her and tells the coroner that as far as the press and everyone is concerned, Lucky is the one who shot and killed Manny in the line of duty and he is a hero.

Jason has a nightmare that he finds Sam's body in the morgue not Manny's and that Alexis is there and shows him a tattoo that Manny wrote on Sam's stomach that says "She's Mine." In the dream Manny is near Sam's body and is laughing and pointing at the tattoo. Jason wakes up suddenly and screams out. Sam is by his bedside comforts him. She tells him she is here now and that he just had surgery to repair a cut artery that made him lose a lot of blood. She assures him that Manny is dead and that everything will be back to normal. Elizabeth stops by to check on Jason and tell him they need to do some tests to see if he has any nerve damage in his right arm. Jason complains that he can hardly move his arm.

Patrick comes by and looks at his arm. He says that because he can move it means there probably isn't too much nerve damage. Patrick has him get checked for nerve damage. Sam leaves and Jason is wheeled back into his room later. Elizabeth tends to him and tells him what happened with Lucky getting promoted and everything. Alexis comes by to see Jason and asks to speak to him alone. Alexis tells Jason that she got the autopsy report back and that Manny had no bullet wound and means that Jason killed him not Lucky.

Sam returns to his room with coffee to find Alexis talking to him in his room alone. She follows Alexis and overhears her telling Elizabeth that she is just glad that Lucky killed Manny and not Jason or she would have had to arrest Jason for manslaughter. Elizabeth talks to Jason about his arm. She realizes he seems distressed about not being able to move his arm around a lot. She realizes that he uses his right arm to shoot with and that is why he is concerned. Jason tells her he shoots with both of his arms. Sam returns to Jason's room to find Elizabeth there.

Patrick comes by to give him the results of his tests. He tells him that his nerve damage isn't bad at all and that he will only need a little bit of physical therapy and he should be as good as new in a few weeks. Sam asks to speak with Jason alone. Elizabeth and Patrick leave. Sam makes plans to help Jason recover when they return home. Jason surprises Sam when he tells her they no longer have a home together.

Sam and Jason are discussing their relationship and Sam demands to know what exactly Alexis had said to change Jason's mind about them being together. Sam suggests that perhaps Jason made a deal with her to have Lucky take the credit for Manny's shooting as well as avoid any further charges if he kept his distance from her.

Carly enters Jason's hospital room in the middle of their discussion. Sam rudely asks Carly to leave and informs her that neither have time or care for her problems. Jason tells Sam that he cares what Carly has to say and asks Sam to leave. Sam asks Jason to be sure as she is never coming back if she walks out that door. She tells him that she is not going to make things easy for him, and if he does want her to leave he is going to have to say it. Jason tells Sam to go. Sam tells Jason that she hates him, and she will make sure that he and Alexis pay if it's the last thing she ever does.

Carly tells Jason that she is sorry about what happened. As Sam is waiting at the elevators to leave the hospital, she removes the necklace Jason had purchased for her and throws it into the janitor's mop bucket.

Carly tells Jason that things with Sonny are really bad this time. She updates Jason on the confrontation between Sonny and Lorenzo as well as tells him about Sonny cutting his hand.

Carly informs him that she has spoken with Lainey and they feel that they may need to commit him to a place like Roselawn for his own safety. Jason tells Carly that they can't do that to Sonny, as it will just bring back memories of his childhood. Carly says that she is able to help Sonny and that Jason needs to stay at the hospital to recuperate. Carly suggests to Jason that if they were to look at all of the paths that have led her here, it was her destiny to save Sonny.

Carly heads back to Sonny's and walks in the middle of Sonny discussing Max's relationship with Carly. Sonny then turns to Carly and suggests that after her being with every man in Port Charles that she is finally having her turn with Max. Jason walks in and demands that Sonny stop.

Sam goes to see Alexis at the PCPD and tells her that they need to discuss things. She tells Alexis that things are really finished between her and Jason. Sam also offers her mother an apology for her behavior towards her for the past while. Alexis informs her that there is nothing that she needs to forgive her for and they embrace. Alexis asked Ric if it's okay for Sam to move in with them? Ric agrees and takes Sam home. Ric tried to commiserate with Sam over her kidnapping. She admitted she's still hurting over Jason.

Later, Ric spotted Sam crying on the terrace in an almost transparent white shift, her legs silhouetted in the moonlight. "It's just really hard" she said. meaning letting go of her dreams. Ric agreed, put a hand on shoulder and told her to cry. "Don't tell Alexis," she sobbed. "Don't tell me what?" Alexis asked. Sam apologized for being all weepy. Alexis said she understood losing Jason was a severe blow. Sam suddenly blurted out that she wants her GED and a job at the hospital, so Ric and Alexis vowed to help.

Jason appeared to Sonny. "This has to stop," he said, agreeing to return to the hospital if Sonny agrees to get help. Jason insisted he can't leave Sonny alone but can't care for him alone. Carly sang the praises of Rose Lawn, but Sonny vowed to fight committal. Sonny was concerned about Michael and Morgan, but didn't recall talking to them. Carly vowed not to give up him and they hugged. Sonny went upstairs and Carly revealed that Sonny kissed her (and she went along with it). "You owe me, big time," she noted. She left to check on the boys. Sonny came back downstairs in a clean shirt and said Carly and Jason should hate him.

Sonny asked why Jason doesn't want revenge for Sonny getting him attested and putting a hit on him. Jason dismissed it as not his fault. Meanwhile, Liz appeared at the door, but Max sent her away. Jason pointed out that Sonny did all he could when Carly broke down, so how can he expect any less? Sonny insisted he didn't deserve their loyalty.

Liz knocked on Carly's door to complain about Jason being at Sonny's because "he could bleed to death!" Meanwhile, Jason regretted barring Sonny from Emily, because on his watch as boss Sam got shot and Justus got murdered. "Whatever happened, it's on my head," Jason confessed. "I drove you to this breakdown. I am truly sorry."

Liz tried to convince Carly that Jason needed to return to the hospital, or there was a possibility that he could reopen the wound without even knowing it. Carly questioned Liz's motives. Liz explained the serious consequences of Jason leaving the hospital before healing properly. Liz told Carly that as a best friend Carly should convince Jason to return.

Jason admitted that he had been wrong to take the business away to keep Emily and Sonny apart. He said that while he had done it to protect Emily, but that it was something that he should not have done. Sonny told Jason of the incident when Emily had worn the white dress, and he tore it off of her because it reminded him of a white dress Lily had. Sonny did not remember where he had gotten the dress, but that it had agitated him. Sonny left the living room to have Milo get him something to eat.

Ric arrived and demanded that Jason leave. He blamed Jason for Sonny's current state, and said that he was there to help his brother. At that time Carly came by, and said that Ric should be the one to leave. She let Ric that she and Jason had always helped Sonny through these times, and that they would be there again to help him. Ric said that because this was something continued to reoccur, they had not been helping him, and that he needed professional help.

Carly tried to run Ric out, when Sonny stopped her. Sonny let Carly and Jason know that Ric had helped had helped them when there had been no one, and that he was grateful for that. However, at that time, he also let Ric know that Jason and Carly were there and that they would help him. When Ric asked Sonny to try and get some professional help, Sonny reiterated that he had been appreciative of Ric's commitment to him, but that he would not be getting any type of help.

As Alexis and Sam talk the conversation initially turned to Alexis' issues with Ric's desire to help Sonny out to be closer with his brother. Sam asked if Alexis' would be willing to step down as DA if it would make the situation easier. Alexis' let Sam know that if her stepping down would be for a noble cause that she would be willing to do it, however, she would not be willing to make that type of sacrifice of her career.

They then moved on to Jason, and Alexis asked Sam if she has given up on a relationship with Jason. Sam said that she would always love Jason, but that at the hospital when she had tried to convince him that they should get back together, and when Carly had interrupted them, instead of kicking Carly out, he had asked her to leave. She realized that the relationship had always been on Jason's terms, and she was no longer interested.

Jason shows up at Jake's to meet with Carly. He assumes she wants his help and asks her. She tells him she called him over to thank him in person for all he has done for her. Jason sits down and they talk about their friendship. Carly tells Jason she is glad they never made it as a couple because he is much more valuable as her best friend. Jason admits that he has needed her as a friend and that she has come through for him when it has counted the most even if she has caused trouble and he hasn't always agreed with what she has done.

Emily returned from the island and came to Sonny's place to see him while Jason is still there. She asks him how Sonny is and Jason tells her he is better. Sonny comes downstairs to see Emily. He tells her that he is feeling better and hugs her. He tells her that she can go if she wants to now that she knows he is better.

Emily tells him she isn't going anywhere. Jason gets up off the couch and apologizes to her for interfering in her relationship with Sonny and that it wasn't his place to do anything. Emily can't believe Jason is suddenly changed his tune. She asks Jason to walk out with her so they can talk in private.

Jason follows her out into the foyer. Emily tells Jason that she can't believe after everything he is suddenly realizing he was wrong and wished he had not interfered months ago and that things could have came out better. Jason tells her that he should not have interfered and is sorry. Emily is still upset with Jason and tells him she doesn't want to say anything that she will regret but makes it clear that they are not finished with this conversation. Jason leaves.

Jason heads to the pier to do some thinking. Sam runs into him there and asks him if he should be out of the hospital so soon. He tells her he is going to be fine and needed to go help Sonny. Sam tells Jason that he seems to make decisions for himself and others and that she has made a decision herself, she is going to move on with her life without him. She asks him if he ever thinks about all the moments they had together and how special they were. She tells him that she would have sacrificed anything to be with him and he is willing to throw it all away. He tells her that he thinks about every moment they spent together and wishes she has a wonderful life. Sam doesn't want to hear it and tells him off for making decisions for her for the both of them and leaves.

Sam tells Ric that she is going to pick up her passport from Jason's penthouse. Ric asks Sam if the sexy dress she is wearing is for Jason. Sam confides that she isn't planning on going on a trip but retrieving her passport is an excuse to see Jason. Ric suggests that he can pick up the passport on her behalf. Sam shows some reluctance on taking him up on his offer, but finally agrees.

Sam begins her interview with Ms. Snee at the hospital. While reviewing her resume, Ms. Snee asks Sam what exactly she has been up to for the past two years since she did not have her GED. Sam informs her that with having a still born baby that had their stem cells donated to save her sister, being kidnapped by Manny and having her heart broken she did not have time to get it. Sam arrives back at the house where Kristina asks her to go swimming in the lake. Sam says no, but then changes her mind when she decides that it may be a good idea after the day she has just had.

Jason and Sonny are discussing the business when Emily arrives. Emily reminds Sonny that he will be starting his therapy today with Lainey, and she is there to ensure that he does not back out of going. Emily tells Sonny that he can not be running the business and trying to get better at the same time. Sonny asks Jason if he minds running the business for a little bit longer? Jason tells Sonny not to worry about things, and just focus on getting better. Jason receives the cold shoulder from Emily when he tries to thank her from doing this for Sonny.

Ric arrives at Jason's penthouse and informs Jason that he is there for Sam's passport. Jason retrieves the passport for Ric and asks him to leave. Ric informs Jason that he knows that Sonny is in therapy and doesn't want Jason to ruin things for him. Jason informs Ric that he is quite interested in finding out what exactly Ric's role was in Sonny's breakdown. As they are talking Carly walks in on them.

Jason tells Carly that Ric believes he helped Sonny see the truth about his illness and assisted him in seeking help. Jason then informs Carly that he believes she is right about Ric setting Sonny up for his breakdown. Jason briefly recaps the incident with the dress and about Sonny ripping it off of Emily.

Carly tells Jason that proving Ric's guilt will be the perfect distraction to keeping her mind off of Sonny. Jason asks Carly why she would need a distraction? Ahe informs him that nothing happened between them but Sonny did remind her why she fell in love with him in the first place. Ric arrives back at the house and can't help but look at Sam while she is lying in her bathing suit on the deck. Sam catches Ric watching her.

Carly told Jason she was glad to help Sonny but she's tempted to go back to him. She asked Jason to stop her, but he replied he's never been able to stop her before. She said Sonny doesn't need her; he's moved on.

Ric gave a swimsuit-clad Sam her passport. Kristina invited Ric to join them swimming. Afterward, Sam pointed out that her salvage-diving past was actually useful, and noted that Kristina never had swim lessons. Alexis arrived and asked the soaked Sam if she went swimming.

Kristina invited Alexis to swim, but she begged off. Sam realized Alexis can't swim, Alexis pointed out that Stavros used to mock-drown her. Alexis got a call from Mayor Floyd pressuring her to prosecute Jason for killing Juan Escobar. Alexis assured her they don't have enough evidence, and Sam said she's cool with it.

Later, Sam asked Ric to put sunscreen on her back. However, she grimaced and bolted when he touched her. Later, Ric showed up at GH to discuss Sonny's session with Lainey. Emily intercepted him and said it went well. Ric once again bad-mouthed Jason, but Emily defended him.

Jason returned to GH for an appointment with Patrick, and Elizabeth used the opportunity to ask him who really killed Manny. Maxie eavesdropped as Jason recounted the fight with Manny and admitted he didn't see Lucky shoot. He also assured Liz that he would re-evaluate his relationship with Sam after Sonny is squared away. Sam arrived at Jason's in tears. She's been hurting since he left, and she wants him to hurt the same way.

Next, Sonny visited Jason to see if Jason needed any help with the Escobar take over. Jason told him that he needed to take care of himself, and that he had everything under control. Sonny shared with Jason his fears that the therapy he was going through would ultimately change who he was as a person. Jason listened to what Sonny had to say, and was agreeing with what he had to say when Emily walked in. She got upset with Jason, letting him know that she didn't appreciate his input, especially when it was his fault that Sonny had gotten sick again, when he took over the business.

Sonny asked Jason to leave so that he could talk to Emily in private. Once alone, Sonny shared with Emily the difficulties he was having with therapy, and that Jason had always been there for him. Emily said that Jason had enabled his illness because at no time did he insist that Sonny get medical treatment. Sonny let her know that Jason knew who he was, and that he needed to be able to talk to him about his fears about losing himself with therapy and medication.

Jason was on the phone down on the pier, tying up the loose ends with the Escobar takeover, when Lucky passed by. Lucky let him know that he was on the Escobar murder case, and even though Jason had saved Elizabeth from Manny, he had saved Jason from Manny so they were even. He left saying that he would do whatever necessary to prove Jason's guilt of the murder.

After Lucky left, Jason, called for Elizabeth to come out, knowing that she had been hiding. Elizabeth offered to tell Lucky that it was not his shot that had killed Manny, but Jason pushing him off of the roof. Jason told her not to do that, that Lucky's belief that he had killed Manny had given him his confidence back and had given him the promotion to detective. Elizabeth was concerned that Lucky would be able to prove his guilt, and Jason let her know that she shouldn't worry about him. Elizabeth told him that while it was admirable that he was willing to help everyone, he needed to take care of himself as well.

On Sam’s first day working for Alexis at the precinct house she runs into Jason down at the docks. They are both startled to see each other.

He notices how conservatively she is dressed. She tells him that she is starting a new job and has to play the professional role. He asks her what her new job is? She cannot answer. She tells him she must break herself of the habit of seeking his approval. She says that she cannot pretend as though nothing has happened between them and just be friends, then she walks off.

Sam goes to the station and gets ready to work. Alexis gives her a bunch of files. She carries them to the other room. And once again, she bumps into Jason. And she drops some files. He helps her pick them up and tells her he can get them straightened up for her. She asks him what he is doing there. He tells her that the city keeps inflicting fines because of the coffee business. She tells him he does not have to make efforts to avoid her. Right then, Alexis comes and asks what Port Charles’ favorite criminal is doing holding her police files.

At the station, she wants? She tells him she wants to discuss her daughter. She tells him that it’s not fair of him to break up with her only to go and find her. She’s really trying to get over him. And he can’t keep popping and out of her life. She needs a chance to get over him and get on with her life. He protests that he did not know that Sam has started working at the station. Alexis then tells Jason she realizes he did not mean any harm. But in the future, whether he runs into Sam by accident or on purpose, he must walk away from her and give her a chance to get over him. Right outside the door, Sam is putting away files and listening in on their conversation.

Carly arrives at Jason's and shows him the dress that Sonny had ripped off Emily. Carly informs Jason that she realized that the dress was a Franco design, and when she went to the store the sales girl was able to confirm Ric had purchased it. Jason tells Carly that he wants to kill Ric for causing Sonny's breakdown. Carly informs Jason that death would be too good for Ric, and that they need to make his life a living hell.

Sam arrives just as Alexis is looking at Jason's file. They are talking when Sam sees Jason being escorted into the interrogation room by Detective Rodriguez. Alexis hands Sam a file and asks that she deliver it to Mac. Alexis enters the interrogation room and informs Jason that this is just a formality while his businesses are being raided. Jason tells Alexis that they are just wasting their time as all of his businesses are legit. Alexis informs Jason that Escobar's men are sloppy and they will just need to wait to find out if the connection is there.

Alexis confronts Sam about taking Jason's file and then asks her daughter to tell her that she is wrong in believing this. Sam denies taking Jason's file and berates Alexis for having no faith in her own daughter. Alexis apologizes to Sam for doubting her.

Jason is at Sonny's house looking through a photo album when he hears Milo speaking with Ric. Ric tells Milo that he will wait for Sonny in the living room. Believing that he is alone, Ric begins to snoop through the paperwork on Sonny's desk.

Jason comes out of the shadows and asks Ric if he is looking for something. Jason drops the photo album and the torn dress onto the desk in front of Ric. Jason tells Ric that he knows he purposely tricked Sonny while he was going through the breakdown. Ric asks Jason what he is going to do with this information. Jason tells Ric that they are going to wait until Sonny gets home from his session and they are going to tell him what Ric did to him.

Ric accuses Jason of trying to drive him out of Sonny's life. Ric eagerly fuels Jason's guilt about not getting Sonny professional help in time. Ric tries to convince his brother he only pushed him to the edge by purchasing the white dress in order to force the issue of therapy. Jason urges Sonny not to fall for his brother's lies. Carly calls off her night with Patrick after Jason wanders into Jake's. Just as Elizabeth was shredding the evidence files Alexis was looking for, Alexis appeared at the nurses' station, looking for Lucky and those files.

On the docks, Sam and Ric commiserated over Alexis, then went for a drink and played pool at Jake's. Sam looked queasy when she heard a song that reminded her of Jason, so Mr. Sensitive asked her to dance. That cheered her up, until Ric likened Jason to Alexis. Then Sam got morose and left.

At Jake's, Carly and Jason recapped Sonny's case. Then Liz called to ask Jason to meet her on the Elm Street Pier. There, she told him she destroyed the file she stole from PCPD. Jason scolded her for taking such a chance, and extracted a vow to never pull such a stunt again.

Sonny called Jason for a second opinion about taking the meds.

Emily recapped the "Jason as enabler" argument, but Sonny insisted it's his call. Jason arrived and Emily immediately jumped him with Lainey's diagnosis which angered Sonny. She begged him to take the pills and left. Sonny asked if Jason would agree to become a medicated "zombie." Sonny explained to Jason that dosage is not an exact science, and recapped his fears of relapsing, of hurting people he loves, and of becoming a "robot." He wondered if the lithium would make him reject the business, the power and the people he loves.

Jason recounted being frustrated with the doctors who told him he had brain damage and tried to "control" his life. Sonny acknowledged that Michael and Morgan were frightened by his breakdown, so he has to set an example for them. After extracting a promise from Jason to tell Sonny if he changes, Sonny popped the pills with shaky hands.

Alexis tells Sam that Sonny has bi-polar disorder and wants to know if she knows how long Ric has known? Sam says she didn’t even know about his diagnosis. The conversation turns to Sam’s feelings for Jason and Sam says that she knows Alexis doesn’t want her to get back together with Jason. Alexis tells her that Sonny’s disease is hereditary and that puts both of her daughters and Ric at risk and that yes she doesn’t want to see Sam put herself in any danger that can be avoided.

Ric arrives at the PCPD as Sonny’s attorney. Mac is confused as he doesn’t see any note of Ric being Sonny’s attorney. Jason arrives and clarifies with Mac that Jason is running Sonny’s business. Jason warns Ric to stay away from Sonny. Jason tells Ric that if he represents himself as Sonny’s attorney again that Jason will sue him for criminal misrepresentation.

Mac gives Jason the building permits he needs and has waived some of the fines. Jason is surprised and asks why Mac is helping him as Alexis has been hounding them for months. Mac says that Jason is more stable and runs a quieter business and he would rather have him in charge than Sonny. He tells Jason this doesn’t mean they are on the same side, just that Jason is the lesser of two evils.
