Jason &
Sam #1 November 26, 2003 – June 30, 2004 -
In November, When Alcazar leaves his building; Sonny is waiting for him, and
shoots. Carly comes running up to stop him. Having been tipped off the police
immediately show up. Sonny makes a run for it and almost gets run over by
Sam. He pulls her out of her car and holds her as a hostage. (Not shown, Sonny
pours his heart out to Sam about his problems with Carly and lets her go, she
refuses to press charges). Sam is arrested for aiding Sonny. Meanwhile, Sonny
walks out of his apartment into the hallway in front of the police and they all
take aim. Jason is behind them and grabs Capelli's arm as he shoots at Sonny,
causing him to only shoot Sonny in the arm. Jason is arrested for interference.
At the PCPD, Sam discovers that she will share an interrogation room with Jason
and they have both been arrested for helping Sonny. They introduce themselves to
each other. Jason explains to Sam that Scott is just using Sam as a pawn to get
to Sonny. When Sam declares that she will not be testifying against Sonny, Jason
promises to finance Samantha's legal involvement and get the best attorney
available for her defense. Sam later takes the stand and insists that Sonny did
not kidnap her. As Scott and Ric object to Sam contradicting her own statements.
Ric finally gets Sam to admit that Sonny did not drop his weapon when the police
instructed him to drop his weapon. Ric also gets Sam to admit that Sonny dragged
her into her vehicle and ordered her to drive away, while waving his gun in her
face. Justus tries to put a spin on Ric's examination by encouraging Sam to
detail Sonny's belief that Sonny had been set up by Alcazar and the police.
Later, Sonny is declared not guilty on all counts. (These December scenes set up
Sam's arrival into Jason's life, only 10 mins up to this point).
In January, Sonny and Sam meet on the docks (he has just found Carly kissing
Lorenzo, and she has broken up with Jax); they have sex at the ill-fated Port
Charles Hotel. Jason knocks on the door and when Sonny opens it he sees Sam in
Sonny's bed. The men go into the hallway to discuss business. Sonny tells him
what to do next, and although he says nothing, its clear that Jason is shocked
and disgusted that Sonny has slept with Sam. Within a couple of days,
Jason meets Sam on the docks and offers her a suitcase with a $1 million cash to
walk away from Sonny. Sam haughtily informs Jason that she likes Sonny, but
would not take money from Sonny to stay and will not take money from Jason to
leave. Jason warns her not to believe that anything could ever come of her
relationship with Sonny. Jason tells her that Sonny loves his wife and won't
leave her for her in the long run. Sam tells him she lives her life the way she
wants to and won't be ordered by him. She asks him what Sonny would think if he
knew what he was doing. Jason tells her that Sonny wouldn't be happy but he
doesn't care.
In March, Sam shows up at Sonny's penthouse at Michael's invitation, and the boy
asks her help in getting Alcazar out of his parents life so that they can get
back together. Sam is uncomfortable, and assures Michael that Alcazar won't hurt
him or his mom. Sonny and Jason walk in, and are surprised to find Sam there.
Michael explains himself to Jason, and Sonny orders Jason to take Sam home. The
next day, Sam takes the stand at the custody hearing and both Sam and Sonny are
stunned when Alexis suddenly begins quizzing Samantha about her past
involvements in prostitution and auto theft. Sam reluctantly admits that, when
she was 18, her boyfriend was much older than she was and was involved in an
auto theft ring. When Sam realized that the man had been lying to her and using
Sam to cover his activities, Sam testified against him. When Samantha asks what
that has to do with custody of Sonny's children, Alexis begins to quiz Samantha
about the times that Sam met Sonny's children and the time that Sam has been
spending with Michael and Morgan. Sam admits that she had been at Sonny's
Penthouse the previous evening, while Michael and Morgan were there. When Justus
gets his chance, Justus asks Sam if Sonny asked her to be a part of his
children's lives and Sam declares that the subject never came up for discussion.
When Justus asks if Sonny knows about any of Sam's arrests, Sam testifies that
she had never mentioned anything about her arrest record to Sonny. When Justus
sits down, he whispers to Sonny not to make eye contact with Sam when she
leaves. After she leaves the stand, Sam goes out into the hallway and breaks
down in tears. A few days later, an explosion rocks the courthouse just as the judge has
returned with a verdict. Later at Sonny's penthouse, Sonny is surprised
when he opens the front door of his penthouse and Samantha collapses in his
arms. Sam quickly explains that she saw someone planting the bomb in Sonny's car
and, when the bomber realized that Sam had seen him, he stabbed her. Jason
arrives at the penthouse and Sonny explains that Samantha witnessed the bomb
being planted. Sonny and Jason guess that the bomber was one of Faith's
operatives. Sonny orders Jason to shake the truth about the bombing out of Faith
then kill her! When Jason suggests that Sam needs a doctor, Sonny reminds Jason
that if Sam were in the hospital, the bomber could make another attempt on her
life. Samantha confides to Sonny that, after she spotted the bomber running away
from the explosion, she headed to her ship, but the bomber followed her. While
Sam hid on the ship, the bomber searched for her and, when he couldn't find her,
he wrote: "You can run, but you can't hide," on Sam's mirror. When Sam
believed the bomber was gone, she came out of hiding and was on her way to the
Penthouse when the bomber spotted her in the alley and stabbed her. Sonny
reminds Sam that this happened to her because she knows Sonny but Sam declares
that she went back to her ship because she planned to leave town without saying
anything to anybody about spotting the bomber. Samantha begins to have a
nightmare about struggling with the bomber. As Sonny rushes to Samantha's side,
and puts a reassuring arm around her, Carly suddenly opens the door and sees
Sonny and Samantha cuddled up on the couch. The bomber calls his boss and
reports that someone saw him set the bomb, then ran into Sonny's building. The
bomber announces his plan to stick around until he is able to 'clean up." Sonny asks Jason to protect Sam with his life since the man who planted the bomb
is after her. Courtney shows up at his apartment to find him sitting with Sam.
She makes an excuse to leave. Jason asks her what she wanted from him. She tells
him that she just saw Alcazar and that wanted to ask for his opinion. Jason
tells her they can't talk now when she asks him why Sam is there and what is
wrong with her. Sonny walks in and reminds Courtney that she doesn't want to
have anything to do with their business. Courtney tells Sonny and Jason that she
has a hard time remembering that and leaves. Later, Sonny asked Jason to go back
to the penthouse and watch over Sam. Jason was upset to hear that Michael had
found Sonny and Sam together. At the penthouse, Jason found a note from Sam,
telling Sonny that things were getting too complicated and that she was going to
disappear. She returned to her ship, with the bomber waiting for her with a gun.
Jason arrived, gun in hand, as the bomber took tight hold of Sam, gun to her
head! Jason drops his own weapon, and tries to negotiate. Having none of Jason's
suggestions, the bomber moves to shoot them both, but Jason pulls a second
weapon and attempts to take the bomber out. Sam is left in the room as the
bomber runs out with Jason in pursuit. Jason returns moments later to tell her
the man got away. He takes her back to Sonny's penthouse. Later,
Jason returns having failed to find bomber. He explains to Sonny that he thinks
Faith is telling the truth about not being the one who put out the hit, so Sonny
tells him to find a way to tie Alcazar to it. As Sonny begins to discuss plans,
Jason stops him and suggests he not conduct business with Sam in the apartment.
Sonny says he doesn't need to worry about her, and that he wants her with him
rather than a safe house. Sam emerges at the top of the stairs in time to hear
Jason point out that Sonny doesn't want Sam, he simply wants something to fill
the void of Carly and the boys. He reminds Sonny that he is only using her to
fill the void of Carly. Sonny replies that he has no illusions of love for Sam,
and that he's been very clear to her regarding the terms of their relationship.
Sam is visibly disappointed. The bomber demands additional money from Alcazar
since Sam and Jason have seen him, as now he has to eliminate them. Jason shows up at the penthouse looking for Sonny, but Sam tells him that Sonny
is out. She tries to demand that Jason leave, but he ignores her. She thinks
that he needs to know how she feels about Sonny, and she warns him that she
isn't going anywhere. Having enough of her power trip, Jason questions where she
thinks she's headed with Sonny, and Sam admits that she's falling in love with
Sonny. Samantha tells Jason that she plans to stick around as long as Sonny
wants her to stay, because Sonny doesn't judge her the way others do. However,
when Sam admits that she hopes that one day, Sonny will love her back, Jason
reminds Sam that Sonny loves Carly. Sam suggests to Jason that Sonny might
be happier with Sam than with Carly. Jason discovers that Morgan has a high temperature and Jason urges Carly to rush
Morgan to the Emergency Room. Sonny and Sam arrived at the hospital. Sonny went
into Morgan's room, and, in the corridor, Jason suggested to Sam that she
probably shouldn't be near the room, for Carly's sake. The bomber spied on Jason
and Sam. After a confrontation with Carly, Sonny asks Jason to take Sam back to
the penthouse. In the car, Sam talks nonstop about her situation with Sonny, and
tries to get a reaction out of Jason with her declaration of staying in Sonny's
life as long as she possibly can, but Jason doesn't comply. Back at the
penthouse, Sam asks him to leave, but he tells her that he's staying. She asks
him what he wants, and Jason responds that he'd like her to shut up. Miffed, Sam
decides to do exactly what he doesn't want, and declares that she will stay up
and annoy him until he leaves. Jason and Sam fall asleep on the coach, Samantha is startled out of her sleep
when Sonny arrives suddenly and discovers Sam and Jason sacked out together on
the couch. When Sam frantically tries to explain the situation to Sonny, Sam is
startled when Sonny merely assures Sam that he is just happy that she is safe
and he is not jumping to conclusions about Sam and Jason falling asleep on the
couch. Sonny reports that Morgan is recovering, then heads upstairs to change.
When Sonny leaves, Sam asks why Jason did not try to help her explain the
situation to Sonny? Jason points out to Sam that Sonny should have no reason to
misunderstand the situation. At the penthouse, Samantha fumes at Jason because Sonny left Jason to baby-sit
her while Sonny checked out Michael's report. Sam confronts Jason about
how he must hate her for being with Sonny. Jason tells her he doesn't hate her
at all. As Sam admits that she cares for Sonny but is afraid that Sonny will
never care as much for Sam as Sam cares for Sonny, Sam begins to cry, then
suddenly spills her drink on her dress. She keeps spilling the glass of wine on
her dress as she gets upset about her feelings for Sonny, that she doesn't feel
are ever going to be reciprocated. Jason
grabs the glass of wine and puts is down. Sam panics when she sees the wine
staining her gown and pleads with him to help her get her dress off before the
stains set in the gown. He tells her to calm down and helps her get out of her
dress. Courtney walks in and sees Jason helping Sam out of her dress. Courtney
tells Sam to keep away from her husband and walks into the room. Courtney
accuses Sam of trying to seduce Jason by purposely spilling wine on her dress.
Sam denies trying to seduce Jason and tries to persuade Courtney to listen to
her side of the story. Courtney tells Jason to keep Sam away from the hospital
and that is why she came over to the penthouse to warn her away. Sam accuses
Courtney of being jealous of her because she is with Sonny and that she couldn't
keep her marriage together with Jason herself. Courtney accuses Sam of being a
manipulator and the two women get into a heated argument. Jason tells them to
stop fighting. Courtney decides to leave the penthouse. Sam tells Jason to
go after Courtney since it is obvious that his wife is still in love with him
and is jealous of her. Justus goes to Kelly's and hands Mike an envelope. He
explains to Mike that they Jason arrived at the penthouse at Sonny's request (Sonny killed the bomber as he
broke into Carly's house), as Sam was packing and getting ready to leave. Sam
wanted Jason's objective opinion about what she should do and whether she was
good for Sonny in any way. Sam chatters nonstop to Jason about her part in
Sonny's life, and begs him to give her his take on the situation. Not wanting to
have to deal with her, or get further involved in Sonny's situation, Jason tries
as usual to stay out of it, and doesn't tell her to leave when she asks if she
should. Faith gives Sam her two cents on how to keep a hold on Sonny, and Sam
listens. Sonny arrives home and discovers Sam's packed to leave, and he asks her
to stay. Samantha returns to the penthouse and, finding Jason alone, Sam reports that
Carly picked a fight with Sam as an excuse to go after Sonny. Sam asks Jason if
he believes that Sam should leave the Penthouse if Sonny is reconciling with
Carly. Jason sadly observes that, sometimes, love isn't enough to make a good
life. Sometimes love is just an excuse to hurt each other. Sonny returns to the penthouse and Jason reports that Samantha is packing. Sonny
declares that there is no hope that Sonny would ever reconcile with Carly,
because Carly is still too besotted with Alcazar, and deliberately missed
blowing their enemy away. Sonny explains that Ric arrived just as Sonny would
have been killing Alcazar because Courtney called the police! Courtney returns
to the penthouse and Sonny accuses Courtney of betraying him. Sonny announces
that he never wants to see Courtney again. Samantha creeps into the stairwell
and eavesdrops on Sonny's angry exchange with his sister. Sonny warns Jason and
Courtney that if Courtney crosses Sonny again, Sonny will deal with Courtney as
if she was any other enemy. After Sonny goes upstairs, Jason admits that he
never understood Courtney and that love and family obviously mean nothing to
Courtney. Although Courtney tearfully protests that she knows that they still
love each other, Jason hands the signed divorce papers to Courtney, and orders
her to never to come to the penthouse again. After Jason shuts the door in her
face, Courtney breaks down in tears in the hallway. Jason searches the park for a missing Michael, and is shocked to suddenly see
the boy at the bottom of an empty well. He yells down to Michael, but gets no
response. As he attempts to get a reaction, Alcazar shows up and begins to offer
his assistance. They call the paramedics, and Jason jumps down the well to
Michael. Unable to wake him, Jason hoists Michael up to Alcazar, who pulls him
out of the well. At GH, Sam gives Jason a cup of coffee and sits in the
waiting area with him as they wait for news of Michael's condition. Jason tells
Courtney to go home so that she doesn't get into a fight with Sonny, who is with
Michael right now. While Michael is in the hospital covering, he asks to see
Sam. Sam comes in at his request. Michael asks her to leave and not come back.
He tells her he will have Jason give her as much money as she wants if she
agrees to leave town and not come back. She tells him she never wanted to hurt
him or his family and is just a friend of Sonny's. Sam leaves his room and tells
Jason what Michael offered her. Jason is amused by Michael's cunning. He offers
her money to leave town if she still wants it. She tells him that Sonny doesn't
want her to leave town and wouldn't be happy if he found out that Jason paid her
off to leave town and rejects his offer again. Sam purchases a pregnancy test, and prepares to take it at the penthouse. She
takes the test, and cries when she gets the positive reading. Jason suddenly
interrupts her, and she hides the test behind her as he tells her that Sonny
wants to see her. Sam is devastated by the results of her pregnancy test, and
even more upset when Jason shows up at her boat informing her that Sonny wants
to see her. Assuming the worst, she tells him that Sonny will have to find her
to end things, and she leaves. She heads to a clinic for a follow up to hateful
feelings from Sonny as she breaks the news, but she finally calls him to meet. Samantha reads a brochure about pregnancy. Sam is surprised when Jason suddenly
arrives on her boat and Sam hastily tries to hide her brochure, and then demands
to know what Jason is doing aboard her boat again! Jason demands to know why Sam
failed to meet Sonny at the penthouse the previous evening, as they had agreed.
Samantha declares that, when she arrived at the penthouse, she found Sonny with
Carly, making plans for Carly to move back to the penthouse. Jason arrives to
escort Samantha back to her boat; Jason is stunned when Sam calmly announces
that she has agreed to remain as Sonny's mistress. Before Sam leaves the
penthouse, she comes close to fainting and Jason demands to know what is wrong
with her! Jason finds Sam in the penthouse waiting for Sonny. Sam is packing her
bags she left at Sonny's and tells Jason that she and Sonny are going to keep
seeing each other away from the penthouse despite the fact that Carly is moving
back in with the boys. Jason is surprised by this but acts like it is there
business. Sam tries to hide how upset she really is about this new arrangement.
She starts to stumble and has a weak spell as she tries to avoid Jason's
questions and almost looks like she is going to pass out. Jason notices she is
light headed and asks her what is wrong with her. She lies and tells him she
hasn't eaten in 24 hours or slept well lately. Jason tells her that Sonny didn't
dump her like she thought he was going to do
so she should be happy. Sam tries to avoid answering his questions and tells
Jason that she can handle it if Sonny and Carly work things out and fall in love
with each other again and that she will leave town and move on. Jason accuses
her of lying and asks her why she feels the need to lie to him. She tells him
that she is fine and is going to go back to her boat now. Jason tells her that Carly and Sonny share a bond because of their children that
she doesn't have with Sonny. Sam goes back to her boat and looks at the
brochures she got from the clinic on pregnancy. She starts to cry and worry. She
ends up going to the clinic to meet with a female counselor. The counselor tells
her there are options and asks her about the baby's father. Sam tells her that
the father of her baby was in the process of getting a divorce when they met and
that he has two sons that he loves very much. She tells her that the father of
her baby doesn't know she is pregnant and doesn't wish him to know since he
recently got back with his wife and that she doesn't want to complicate his life
any further. The counselor tells her that there is always adoption to consider.
Sam tells her she could never give her baby up for adoption since her own mother
ran out on her as a child and she couldn't do that to her own child. She also
explains that the kind of work she does doesn't fit well with a child. Sam tells
the counselor that she wants to have an abortion as soon as possible. The
counselor respects her decision and tells her to wait for a doctor to come in
and get things rolling. Sam waits in the examining room with the door opened.
Emily walks past the room at the clinic and sees Sam. She approaches Sam, who
asks her what she is doing there at the clinic. Emily explains that she
volunteers at the clinic a few times a week. She notices that Sam is crying and
asks her what is wrong. Sam decided to terminate her pregnancy. Emily, there as a volunteer, saw
Sam. Sam bolted, but Emily learned of Sam's plans from a staff member. Sam
returned to her boat, where Sonny was waiting. Sonny offered to provide her with
somewhere else to live, but she refused. During a heart to heart, Emily
interrupted them. After Sonny left, Emily tried to help Sam and reminded her of
her options. Sam returned to the hospital to follow through with her plans of an
abortion. Jason found Emily, upset, on the waterfront. She said she was thinking
about the baby she could never have with Nikolas and wondered how anyone could
decide to purposely get rid of a baby. Jason wanted to know why she was thinking
about the topic, and she told him that Sam was pregnant and planning to
terminate the pregnancy. Sam goes to the abortion clinic to end her pregnancy, but is unable to go
through with it. Just after she decides against it, Jason arrives, having been
notified of Sam's situation by Emily. He takes Sam back to her boat, and she
begins to cry and attempt to get his sympathy for her situation. She asks him if
he thinks she's trash, and although he says no, he asks her if she got pregnant
to trap Sonny. Sam reels at his accusation, and cries further for herself and
her situation. Jason demands that she tells Sonny about the baby, and discusses
things with him, but she says she can't. She claims she doesn't want to ruin
Sonny's life with his family, but Jason tells her that lying to him is worse,
and that he will find out. Just as he says this, Sonny walks into the room. Jason warns Sam about lying to Sonny, and demands she tell him the truth about
her pregnancy. Sonny interrupts them, but Sam covers and says she wanted Jason
to know she wouldn't stand in the way of Sonny's family. Sonny asks Sam what is
wrong, and she tries to say nothing, but instead faints. She awakens to find
Jason gone, and Sonny wanting to know the story. She tells him she decided that
she isn't handling the situation with him and his family as well as she thought,
and she's considering leaving town. Sonny replies that if that is best for her,
then she should do it, but he hopes she won't leave with anger or regret toward
him. She promises no, and they begin to kiss. She pulls back and tells him that
Michael needs him, and he agrees and leaves. Sam quietly tells him she loves him
after he closes the door behind him. Sonny returns to the hospital, and Jason is
stunned to realize that Sam didn't tell him she was pregnant. Samantha packs some heavy gear and leaves the Lazarus. Later, when Samantha
returns to her boat and struggles to get her gear back up on deck, Jason arrives
and angrily accuses Samantha of hauling heavy equipment around because she is
trying to lose Sonny's baby Jason returns Sam to her cabin and
angrily orders Sam to pack to leave the boat immediately. Sam protests that she
was merely scouting a possible salvage job and had not done anything to endanger
her child because she only cruised around the harbor in a launch. As Sam and
Jason argue, Jason blurts out the news that Courtney lost her baby when she swam
too far in water that was too cold. Jason concludes that, since Sam cannot be
trusted to take care of that baby, Jason will have to tell Sonny that Samantha
is pregnant! Jason confronts Sam about not telling Sonny that she is pregnant. Sam turns on
Jason and tells him that this is none of his business and that he doesn't
understand her situation. Jason confides in her about how Courtney kept her
pregnancy a secret from him and that by the time he found out about it, Courtney
had lost their child. He tells Sam that if he had known about the pregnancy he
could have protected her better from going after Alcazar on her own and getting
injured. Sonny
calls Sam on her cell-phone. Sam answers her phone while Jason is still there.
Sonny apologizes to her and explains that he can't see her tonight. She tells
him she is fine and tries to hide her disappointment. Jason overhears her on the
phone telling Sonny to stop by the next day and see her. Jason asks her why she
didn't tell Sonny she was pregnant on the phone. She tells him that she can't
tell someone news like that over the phone. She tells Jason that she will tell
Sonny when the perfect time comes along. Jason tells her that there is no
perfect time and that Sonny has a right to know and be allowed to help take care
of her. Sam tells him she will tell Sonny soon. Jason tells her that if she
doesn't tell Sonny soon, he will tell him himself. Sam shows up at the park
while it is raining. She spots Sonny with Carly and Michael sharing a family
moment in the gazebo to get out of the rain. She decides to turn around and
leave them like that. Carly spots her first trying to leave. She tells Sam to
wait and not leave and that it is okay and invites her into the shelter. Sonny
doesn't seem too pleased by her presence there. Jax arrives to see Sam on her boat after learning that she is pregnant to
ask if he could be the baby's father. Sam asked him to leave. He then arrived at
the penthouse and questioned whether Carly knew everything that was going on
with Sam. When Sonny arrived on the boat, Sam was not there, but he found a
letter from her and began reading it. Sam
leaves Sonny a note of goodbye, and gets on a plane to South America to get away
from Port Charles. She sits next to a woman who is going to adopt a child from a
convent that takes care of unwed mothers. Sam decides that this could be the
best option for her situation, and prepares to get information from the woman.
Jax arrives to tell Sonny that Sam's baby belongs to Jax. Sonny is stunned by
the news of Sam's pregnancy, and grows angry at Jax's threats. The two men
almost come to blows, but Jax leaves. Sonny quickly calls his men to find Sam. Sam goes to the convent in South America, and meets with the nun to
discuss giving her baby up for adoption. The nun agrees to house Sam, and take
her on as a mother who will give away her baby, but she first questions Sam to
see if she really wants to go through with it. She senses conflict in Sam over
who will parent the baby once it's born, and asks Sam to describe who she would
like to see raise her child. Sam
describes Sonny and Carly, along with Michael and Morgan, as the imaginary
family that could adopt the baby. When the nun points out that Sam seems to be
very specific in her descriptions, Sam remains silent. She is then stunned when
the nun suggests that she call the family in question and asks them to adopt the
baby. Jason arrives at the penthouse, and Sonny asks why he didn't tell him
about Sam's pregnancy. Jason explains that Sam was supposed to tell him herself,
and Sonny let's Jason know that they have to find Sam in order to see if the
baby is his. Jason reports to Sonny that he tracked Samantha down at a convent in Costa
Rica. Sonny explains that, since Sonny is tied up in court, Jason should fly to
Costa Rica and get Sam. Jason confides that Carly has guessed that Jason is
tracking Samantha down for Sonny. Jason reports that, although Carly doesn't yet
know that Sam is pregnant, Sonny would be wise to let Carly know the facts now!
Jason arrives at the convent in Costa Rico. As Jason makes inquiries about
Samantha McCall, the Mother Superior leaps to the conclusion that Jason is the
father of Sam's baby and advises Jason that if he were willing to take Sam's
baby, Sam might be willing to give the baby to Jason. In Costa Rico, the
Mother Superior announces to Sam that the father of her child is waiting to see
her. Although Sam declares that her baby's father is the last person she would
want to see, the Mother Superior encourages Samantha to at least consult with
the baby's father about the child's future. When the Mother Superior goes to get
Jason, Samantha tries to slip away by climbing through a window but Jason
arrives before Samantha can make good her escape and orders Sam to stay where
she is! Sam tries to sneak out the window when she is told that the father of her
child is outside the room waiting to see her. As she is trying to climb out the
window, Jason comes in the room and stops her. She tells Jason that Sonny isn't
going to want this baby when he finds out she is pregnant. Jason tells her that
Sonny already knows she is pregnant and that Jax told him. He tells her that Jax
thinks he could very well be the father of her child. Sam worries that Sonny
must think she is a slut for sleeping with Jax that time and tries to explain
that she slept with Jax and had unprotected sex with him when they both thought
they were going to die in the hotel fire. Jason tells her that he doesn't think
she is a slut and doesn't care what happened either way. Sam insists that Sonny
doesn't want this child and that he definitely won't want it if he thinks Jax
could be the father. Jason tries to get through to her that Sonny will want to
take care of her and the child if it is his. Sam doesn't believe it and insists
that the best thing for the child is to be adopted and raised by a loving
family. Jason tells her she isn't going to give the child away. Sonny gets a call from Jason informing him that he found Sam and where they are.
Meanwhile, Sam tries to run away from Jason again to avoid any more discussions
about Sonny. She sees a nun handing a baby over to an adoptive couple and how
happy they reacted to having a baby to raise. Jason tells Sam to stop running
away and deal with what is going on. Later, Sonny shows up and tells her she
should have told him she was pregnant. She told him she was unsure of the baby's
paternity. Sam confirmed that she did sleep with Jax during the hotel fire
because they thought they were going to die. Sonny didn't care that she had been
with Jax but wanted to know how long she had known about the pregnancy. He
declared he would be part of the baby's life if he was the father and that he
didn't want her to give up the child for adoption to strangers. Jax had learned
from Carly of Sam's whereabouts, and he arrived, also questioning the paternity.
He then informed Sam that he had a court order for her, demanding a paternity
test. Sam told them the baby inside her was hers and that they could both go to
hell. She ran off, tripped and fell down a stairway! Sam argues with both Sonny and Jax at the convent, and tells them they have no
say over her baby. She runs from them, and in the process of trying to get away,
falls down the stairs. While Sam is with the doctor, the nun accuses Jason of
being dishonest and allowing her to believe he was the father. She lets it be
known that Jason seems to be the best option of the three for Sam, but Jason
assures her the baby cannot be his. The nun then turns her anger on Sonny and
Jax, chastising both men for their arrogance and selfishness. After the doctor
is finished, Sam is told that she and her unborn child are both fine, but she is
unable to get past both men's lack of regard for her. She calls for Jason in
order to get advice, and tells him that she almost thinks that something going
wrong with the baby is the best option for everywhere. Jason tells her not to
think that way, and feels sorry for Sam. He helps her get her things together,
and takes her back to Port Charles. They go to GH to have another examination,
and the two run into a surprised Courtney as the get off the elevator. Jason and Sam go to GH for a checkup. Courtney witnesses them, and overhears the
nurse assume Jason is Sam's husband. As Sam leaves for her exam, Courtney
confronts Jason, but doesn't get any answers. Jax arrives to take his place by
Sam, and offers her money for the baby if it is his. Disgusted, Sam tells him
that while she'd use the baby against him for everything, she'd never do it to
Sonny. Sonny arrives, and the three begin to argue. The doctor returns to assure
Sam her baby is fine, and Jason volunteers to watch her and let her stay with
him. Sam arrives at Jason's penthouse, and encounter's Carly's wrath.
Carly warns her that she'll pay for her conniving ways, and Sam tells her that
the pregnancy was an accident. Jason interrupts the women's fight, but Carly
does not back down. Sam tearfully tells Jason that no one will believe her, but
he admits he believes that she didn't get pregnant on purpose. When Jason returns to his Penthouse with groceries for Samantha, he blows up
when he learns that Sam plans to go back to her boat to do some work. When Jason
refuses to allow Sam to go, Sam angrily orders Jason to get his nose out of
Sam's business! Across the hall, Sonny and Carly leave their penthouse and they
all enter the hallway at the same time. Jason and Sam are already in the
hallway, arguing. Michael is upset when he overhears Sam talking about her baby
and Michael asks Sonny why Sam is pregnant and why Sam is staying with Jason.
When Michael orders Sam to just leave, Michael is surprised when Sonny orders
Michael to apologize to Sam! Later, after Jason and Sam return to Jason's
Penthouse, Jason accuses Sam of deliberately talking about being pregnant where
Michael could overhear, but Sam claims she is innocent of Jason's charges. As
Sam and Jason argue, Carly suddenly bursts in and threatens to get even with Sam
if Sam ever hurts one of Carly's children again. Carly is surprised when Jason
orders Carly to quit jumping all over Sam! After Sam storms away, Carly angrily
asks Jason what became of Jason's long-standing friendship with Carly!
Carly accuses Jason of turning against Carly because Jason is always leaning
over backwards to give Sam every benefit of the doubt. However, Jason argues
that the only important person at this point is Sam's baby! Carly finally agrees
with Jason but warns Jason to keep Sam away from Carly's children. After
Carly storms away and Sam returns to the living room, Jason warns Sam to watch
her mouth whenever Sonny's family is around. Sam reminds Jason that if Sam had
had her way about all of this, Sam would be far, far away by now! Sam suddenly
declares that she will take the paternity test today! When Jason and Sam leave
for the hospital, they run into Michael and Sonny, returning from the park, and
Michael apologizes again to Sam. After Michael goes inside, Jason reports to
Sonny that they are headed to the hospital to get an amniocentesis to determine
the paternity of Samantha's baby. After Sonny returns to his penthouse, Sam
blasts Jason for not keeping quiet until after they had the test results! Sam and Jason arrive at the hospital, for the paternity test. Courtney and
Jason spot Carly moving toward the lab, disguised as a doctor. Jason and
Courtney grab Carly and try to convince her to give up her plan to meddle with
Sam's DNA tests. Carly, dressed in a mask and scrubs is caught by Jason and
Courtney trying to go into the lab to switch the paternity test results to show
that Jax is the baby's father. Jason tells her it is not the way to go about
this whole situation and that Sonny would find out eventually that the baby was
his if it really his baby and that her cover-up would tear the family apart even
more. Carly tries to justify what she is doing to Jason and Courtney who
disagree with her. Carly accuses Jason of being Sam's new best friend and for
taking her side over her. Jason tells her he isn't taking sides and doesn't
think Sam got pregnant on purpose. Carly worries that Sonny will choose Sam and
the baby over his own family if he knows he is the baby's father. Carly storms
off, dressed in the scrubs. The test results come back showing neither Jax or Sonny is the father of Sam's
baby. Jason admitted to Sonny that he tampered with the results and that Sonny
actually was the father. Sonny was furious at the interference. Jason insisted
this was the only way for Sonny to hold his family together. Jason reminded
Sonny that Michael and Carly used to be his family and that he had done nothing
when Sonny took them away; now, Sonny should do everything possible to keep from
losing them. Jason said he would pretend to be the father and even lie to Carly,
figuring she would eventually believe him since he had never lied to her before.
Sonny and Jason went to Sam to tell her what had happened with the test results
and to discuss the plan. Sam is stunned by the news that Jason fixed the paternity test, and even more
shocked when she hears his plan. She turns to Sonny, and can't believe that he
is willing to go along with telling everyone that Jason is the father of the
baby. Sam resists their suggestion, and Jason pointedly tells her that Carly
will leave Sonny, and he will not allow Michael to be devastated again by
another familial breakup. Carly enters the hospital room, demanding to know why
Sonny is forcing Jason to baby-sit Sam. Jason is able to calm Carly down, and
Sonny leaves with her. Jason continues to try and convince Sam, and is finally
able to make headway when he tells her of his love for Michael. Sam says she
will consider the situation since Sonny will not allow her to give the baby up
for adoption, but she wants to think alone on her boat. Jason calls Sonny with
the news that Sam and her boat are gone. Sonny flips at Jason on the news of Sam's disappearance, but Jason goes back to
his house and finds her on the couch. She tells him that she thinks it's a bad
idea to play out the lie, but he reminds her that he'll be a good father to the
baby. Sam warns Jason that she is who she is and sooner or later she's blow
Sonny's family apart to get him to be with her. Jason tells Sam that Sonny has
to stay with his family for his sons' sakes, and Sam responds by telling Jason
that he must convince Sonny that she knows what's best, and she runs out of the
apartment, ready to leave town and give the baby away. At the airport, she has
second thoughts, however, and returns. Jason informs Sonny of Sam's decision,
and when Sonny demands that Sam be found, Jason explodes at him over what he'll
do to Michael. Sonny apologizes, but yells back that he can't have his child
adopted by strangers. Jason leaves as Sonny prepares to break the news to Carly
that Sam is pregnant with his child. As Sonny prepares to tell Carly the truth,
Sam rushes in and announces to them both that Jason is the father of her unborn
child. Although Sam explains that she and Jason hit the sheets after Jason had fought
with Courtney and Sonny was keeping his distance from Sam during the custody
battle, Carly refuses to believe Sam's version of events. As Carly and Sam
argue, Jason suddenly arrives. Before Jason can say anything, Sonny declares
that Sam has already filled them on the details and then slugs Jason to make his
point. As Sonny and Jason argue, Sam tries to intervene, but Jason declares that
he made his choice and is prepared to deal with the consequences. Then Jason
hustles Sam back across the hall. When
Jason gets Sam home, he blasts her for going to Sonny and Carly with her fake
confession without letting Jason know that Sam had decided to go along with the
charade about her baby's paternity. Sam reminds Jason that the whole charade was
Jason's idea. However, when Jason admits that he could respect Sam for her
decision to just leave town, Sam offers to go back across the hall and let Carly
know the whole truth! Jason tells Sam it would no longer be fair for Carly to
learn the truth now. Jason promises that he will care for Sam and her baby as if
they were his own. Then Jason declares that he needs to go tell Courtney about
the baby and leaves the apartment. Jason told Sam that they would be getting married the next week, and she was
completely against it. Mac interrupted them as well, and Jason not so subtly
hinted for Sam to leave, which she did. Sam wandered by Jax in the park, and he
provoked her into an argument, where she pronounced that Jason was twice the man
compared to Jax. Angry, she exclaimed that she and Jason were getting married!
Sam returned to the penthouse and told Jason she would go ahead with the
marriage. While they appeared to be bonding because of the baby, Sonny entered
and saw them close together. Sonny interrupts Sam and Jason and informs them that he does not want them to
marry. Jason leaves to take care of business while Sam and Sonny argue over the
arrangements. Sam reiterates her desire to leave and put the baby up for
adoption, but Sonny will not consider it. He tells her that marriage, however,
was not part of the deal for her and Jason, and she reminds him that he needs to
trust them to do what's best for the baby. Jason comes upon Jax as he pulls
Courtney into a kiss. Jason witnesses the couple from a distance, and when Jax
sees Jason, Jax informs Courtney of Jason and Sam's wedding plans. Jason tries
to explain, but Jax continues to add fuel to the fire. Courtney isn't interested
in Jax's two cents, however, and tells him to leave it alone. After Jason
leaves, Jax is stunned that Courtney continues to defend him, but she presses
that Jason is only doing what is right. Jax leaves her sitting in the park
thinking about what could have been with Jason, when Sam suddenly approaches.
Courtney tells Sam that she'd better take care of herself now that she's
pregnant, and when Sam gets nasty about the advice, Courtney tells her that she
lost her own child, and that Jason deserves better from Sam. Jason warns Sonny that he must decide what he wants for his life, and to
remember the promise he made to Michael. Sonny admits he knows now what Jason
went through when he gave Michael up to Sonny, and he tells Jason that he can't
do it for his own child's sake, no matter how selfish he is being. Jason again
reminds him that he can't have both of his lives, and he must choose. They are
interrupted by a call from the hospital, where Mike had been admitted after
being beat up by his bookie. Both men rush out to see if he's okay. Courtney
warns Sam to pay attention to her mistakes and not harm her unborn child. Sam
tries to ignore her at first, but realizes that she's right and promises to take
better care of herself. Courtney defies Jason and goes into Mike's room
where he and Sonny are having a heartfelt talk. Sonny leaves, and lets both
Jason and Sam know that they can go home, but he first tells them he is sorry
for balking at their marriage idea earlier. He crushes Sam when he admits that
it's for the best. Jason orders his accountant to arrange for an anonymous donation of $1 million
to be made to Courtney's Children's Foundation. Samantha overhears Jason making
the arrangements. Sam asks Jason why he wouldn't be able to give the donation
directly to Courtney, but Jason protests that it is better for Jason to just
avoid seeing Courtney. Jason tries to ignore Sam, but Sam points out that
Jason's decision to marry Sam is one that Sam, Sonny and Jason can all live with
because they all know that Jason could never love Sam! Sam tries to convince
Jason to make an effort to try to mend his relationship with Courtney rather
than marry Sam. But Jason blurts out that, when he went to tell Courtney about
the marriage, he found Courtney kissing Jax. Jason emphasizes that he is
convinced that Courtney has moved on without him and there is no hope forever
mending the relationship! At
The Cellar, as Jax and Courtney make plans for the fund raiser, Samantha
suddenly arrives and overhears their discussion about Jax's "donation"
to Courtney's Foundation. Sam declares: "Well, that is our Jax! The soul of
generosity!" Jax isn't too happy to see her and tells her that they are
busy with the fundraiser for tonight and asks her to leave. Sonny was
dressed for Courtney's fundraiser when he took dinner over to Sam in Jason's
penthouse. They started to get close to one another but were interrupted when
Jason returned early. Jason privately let Sonny know that the mission to break
into Jax's place was aborted since Courtney had seen her ex-husband outside of
Jax's. After
Sonny left, Sam talked Jason into taking her to the fundraiser and said that
people should see them in public as a couple. Sonny was annoyed when Sam and
Jason arrived at Courtney's charity fundraiser, even though he knew the reason
for it. Sam announced to the Quartermaines that she and Jason were getting
married, and Tracy immediately assumed she must be pregnant. Jason stated that
they were indeed having a baby. Monica wanted to speak to Jason alone but was
interrupted when Jax provoked Jason about sleeping with Sam while not completely
away from Courtney yet. Jason flew off the handle and decked Jax. Mac asked if
Jax wanted to press charges, but he didn't. Jason left, but Sam stayed and
gloated about the altercation. She told Courtney that Jason certainly didn't hit
Jax without a reason and then revealed that the million-dollar check for the
foundation was not actually from Jax. Courtney arrives at Jason's penthouse and apologizes for Jax's behavior.
She gets Jason to admit that he donated the money to her charity, but she also
returns it and explains Ric's agenda in shutting her down. Courtney asks Jason
if he's happy with his current situation, and he lies and tells her he is and
wants the situation for the baby. Courtney leaves. After
breaking up a fight between Alcazar and Sonny, Sam accompanies Sonny back to the
penthouses, and asks him if Carly was not a factor, would he want to be with her
and their baby. Sonny avoids answering her, telling her that Carly and the boys
are a factor. He tries to continue to dodge her questions, but Sam makes it
clear she wants more from him. In the end, she admits that she knows if he was
with her, he'd eventually leave her for his family, so the current situation is
for the best. Sonny nods in agreement. Sam goes back to Jason's place, and
admits to him that she told Courtney of his donation. Sam tells Jason she feels
bad about his place in the situation, but admits she invited Sonny over. Jason
is hesitant, but agrees to allow her time with Sonny. Sonny, however, rushes in
and tells Jason not to leave. Sam is devastated to hear Sonny announce that she
and Jason must marry immediately. Sam tries to put aside the callousness of a
marriage of convenience and tells both Sonny and Jason that she wants a church
wedding. Jason returns to his Penthouse and learns that Sam has changed her mind again.
Instead of a formal ceremony, Sam now insists that she wants to elope. When
Jason balks at another change of plans, Sam confides that she understands that
weddings are sacred and is afraid that she will be struck by lightning if they
take "pretend" vows inside a church. Jason assures Sam that the only
important person to consider is the baby. Later, Emily meets Jason at the
church and is surprised when Jason confides that he believes that he is doing
the right thing by marrying Sam. Meanwhile,
Sonny arrives at Jason's Penthouse and is surprised to find that Sam is there
alone. When Sam reminds Sonny that it is bad luck for the groom to see the bride
before the ceremony, Sonny asks to see her gown and Sam comes down the stairs
and admits that, while Sonny is not the groom, he is the man she loves. Sonny
admits to being impressed by Sam's presentation. Sonny and Samantha bond over
their mutual pain, because they are not able to be open about their
relationship. Sam admits that, even though she is marrying Jason, her heart
belongs with Sonny and they kiss! Later, at the church, Jason confides to Emily that he has missed being a father
to Michael since Michael moved in with Sonny and Carly. Jason admits that he is
looking forward to being a parent to Sam's baby. Jason and Emily are both
surprised when Edward shows up. When Sonny arrives, Jason and Sonny both worry
that Carly will show up with some kind of fireworks planned for the wedding.
When Sonny apologizes to Jason for putting Jason in this position, Jason
explains that he is keeping a promise he made years ago to Michael. When Carly
arrives, she reminds Jason that, when Jason married Courtney, it was because
Jason actually loved Courtney! Emily
is upset when Jax arrives and announces that he will be giving the bride away.
When Emily alerts Samantha about Jax's presence, Sam observes that she couldn't
stand Jason before, but now she is about to marry him! As Jason and Sam begin
reciting their vows, they are both surprised when Edward stands up just as the
minister asks if any one can show just cause why Jason and Sam should not marry.
But Justus convinces Edward to be quiet. However, Carly raises an objection,
because Courtney is Jason's real wife! Carly explains to the minister that
Jason's divorce hasn't become final and asks Edward to confirm that something
happened to the paperwork. However, Sonny assures everyone that the paperwork
has been straightened out and Justus confirms Sonny's report. Carly continues to
object, even though Jason orders Carly to stay out of it. An exasperated Jason finally takes Carly outside to convince her to stop
meddling in his life, but Carly refuses to listen to Jason. As Jason and Carly
argue, their voices carry over into the church, where Emily tries to reassure
Sam. As Carly pleads with Jason to change his mind, Jason argues that, at this
moment in his life, he needs Sam and her baby in his life! Jason offers to bet
Carly $20 that it will all work out in the end, but Carly refuses to take the
bet. Sam is about to exchange wedding vows with Jason but abruptly stops and
tells Jason and the priest that she can't go through with the wedding because
she doesn't really love Jason and doesn't feel right about the whole thing. She
takes off before anyone can stop her. Jason leaves and goes home Sam
returns to Jason's place and tries to explain to him that she couldn't go
through with the wedding after she saw how Sonny was with Carly at the church
and how they will have that bond forever and that she can't deal with the
prospect of having to see Sonny with Carly knowing they will probably fall back
in love with each other eventually. Jason tells her that he will help her with
the baby. Sam thanks him for all that he has done for her but tells him she
can't stay here and tells him she is leaving town. Jason tries to persuade her
from leaving but doesn't stop her when she does. Sonny shows up at Jason's to
see Sam. Jason tells him she left town. Sonny asks him why he didn't go after
her and stop her from leaving. Jason tells him that there is nothing he can do
since it was her decision to leave. He tells him what Sam told him about not
being able to handle Carly and him living across the hall. Sonny goes off to
find Sam. Carly shows up at Jason's. She apologizes for how she behaved at the church but
doesn't regret that Sam didn't marry him. Jason tells her that Sam left town and
doesn't plan to return. Carly feels bad that she left since she knows he wanted
the baby. Jason tells her that Sonny took off to find her so she won't be gone
for long. Carly is stunned and hurt by that news. In Italy, Carly's scheme
to get Jason and Courtney together works to some extent when they end up in the
same jail cell after they are all arrested. After they're all released, they all
head back to Port Charles. Once back home, Courtney pays Jason a visit, only to
learn that he is out looking for Sam. Courtney arrives at Jason's Penthouse to drop off his passport, but is
disappointed to learn that Jason is absent and that Jason has gone to search for
the missing Samantha. Jason meets Samantha in a park on the island. Samantha
tearfully reports that: "The baby is gone." Offering his sympathy,
Jason confides to Sam that he believes she lost her baby because Jason lied
about the baby's paternity and was responsible for keeping Sonny away from his
child. Sam tries to convince Jason that he could not possibly be to blame that
Sam lost her baby because she chose to disregard everything that Jason and Sonny
had told her about keeping her baby safe. Jason suddenly orders Sam to accompany
him to one of the casinos, until she decides what she will do next. However,
en route to one of the casinos, Jason and Sam get caught in a downpour and take
refuge in an empty pool hall. As Jason insists that Sam put her feet up and
rest, a mystery man lurks outside the window and watches them. Jason tries to
convince Sam to return to Port Charles with him, but Sam instead argues that
Jason should return to Sonny, tell Sonny about the lost baby, which will leave
both Jason and Sonny free to resume their previous lives with Courtney and
Carly, the women they both actually love! But Jason confides his worry that
because Jason set things up for Sonny to deny his own child and now that baby is
gone, Sonny will never be able to forgive Jason! Jason begins to encourage Sam
to talk about herself and then Jason admits that he was looking forward to being
a family with Sam and her baby, but now realizes that he was really taking
Sonny's family away from Sonny. When Jason offers to go to Sonny and urge him to
let Samantha go, Sam thanks Jason for his friendship and confides that she
always slept better at Jason's penthouse because, for once in her life, she felt
totally safe while she was there. Later, Samantha begins to experience cramps
and, when Sam blurts out that she believes she is having a problem with the
baby, Sam finally admits to Jason that she lied about miscarrying the baby so
that Jason and Sonny would leave her alone. Jason picks Sam up and rushes her to
a doctor. Jason rushes Sam to the nearest clinic. He tells the doctor and nurse that Sam
is pregnant and may be having a miscarriage. The doctor and nurse take over. The
doctor examines Sam and tells her that the exam is inconclusive and that the
tests they ran should tell him more. He leaves the room. Sam asks Jason to turn
up the volume on the ultrasound monitor. Jason turns it up and she can hear the
baby's heartbeat. She tells Jason that she is sorry she lied to him about having
a miscarriage but that she did it so that he would go home and tell Sonny about
it and that way she could go and have the baby alone and give it up for adoption
and know one would know. She tells Jason that she didn't want Sonny to go
looking for her anymore so she could go somewhere far away and forget that she
ever was in love with him. Jason tells her that they need to do what is best for
the baby. The
doctor comes back in and tells her that something serious is wrong. He assures
Sam that the baby is healthy but that she has a weak cervix that won't close on
it's own and that if it goes untreated, could cause premature birth or
miscarriage. Sam picks up on the fact that he said if her condition goes
untreated she could lose the baby. The doctor tells her that she can contact her
own OB/GYN where she lives and they can arrange for her to have the minor
surgery to correct the problem. Sam worries that the surgery could be risky for
her baby. The doctor reassures her that the surgery would be very minor and
shouldn't bring harm to the baby. He leaves Sam alone to talk to Jason. Jason
points out to Sam that she wants to have this baby and that she has grown
attached to her baby. Sam admits she had no maternal instincts until now and
admits she is looking forward to seeing her baby's face when it is born. Jason
is pleased with that and tells her that they can go home and be a family and
raise the baby together. Sam agrees to their original plan. While Carly is in Costa Rica attending to Sonny who has been shot again, Carly
received a call from Jason on her cell phone, and she let him know what had
happened to Sonny. Sonny also talked to Jason and warned that the shooter knew
what he was doing. He learned from Jason that Sam had been found. At General
Hospital, Jason waited as Sam had surgery that would assist her in having a
healthy pregnancy. Everything went fine, but Sam was upset when she learned
about the shooting. Meanwhile, the shooter was at GH, and he knocked out an
employee to steal the man's uniform. He secretly watched Jason and Sam. When the
man found Jason alone, he silently crept forward, hypodermic needle in hand! Jason
wards off an attack by Nico, who tries to stick him with a needle. The two men
fight, and are broken up by a security guard. Assuming Jason is the bad guy, the
guard corners him and allows Nico to run off. Later, Alan arrives and is visibly
upset to realize how close Jason came to death. Jason has his men track Nico,
but no one knows who he is at that point. It isn't until later, when Sam
overhears Jason talking to a wounded Sonny, that she realizes who attacked both
men. She tells Jason that Nico is her ex-boyfriend, and that he's dangerous.
Jason realizes that he and Sonny are in danger while they are with Sam, and
decides to take her back to his penthouse, where things are secure. As the two
prepare to leave the hospital, Carly and a collapsed Sonny, fighting for his
life, meet them. Jason warns Sam to keep away from Nico, and let him and Sonny
handle the situation. Sam expresses her guilt over her role in the fiasco, but
Jason reminds her to keep her unborn child safe. He leaves to go see Sonny, and
Sam immediately attempts to contact Nico. Nico calls back later and sets up a
time to meet at Kelly's. Courtney questions Jason on his safety, but he tells her that she needs to stay
away and keep herself safe. Jason checks on Sonny when a nurse runs in after
Carly tells them that Sonny is in pain. Unable to get information from Sonny,
Carly eavesdrops on his conversation with Jason, and discovers who is behind his
shooting. She runs back to the penthouse and confronts Sam for her part in the
mess. Carly warns Sam that she's caused enough trouble, and that she needs to
leave town or else. After Carly leaves, Sam calls Jason and tells him of her
meeting with Nico. Irritated, Jason tells her to stay home and he'll meet in her
place. As he heads to Kelly's, Sam quietly slips out of the penthouse but before
she can leave the building, Nico grabs her. Jason arrives at Kelly's to meet with Nico and he runs into Courtney.
Courtney is surprised when Jason orders her to stay away from Kelly's. Courtney
quickly guesses that Jason's business is about Sonny's assailant and Jason
explains that an old boyfriend of Samantha's has targeted Sonny and Jason.
Meanwhile, in the Penthouse lobby, Nico grabs Sam and drags her onto the waiting
elevator. As Sam tries to convince Nico to let her go, Nico reveals his plan to
kill both Sonny and Jason! Jason realizes that Nico is not at Kelly's and
frantically tries to call Sam at the Penthouse. When Sam does not answer, Jason
races off toward the Penthouse, but warns Courtney to stay safe. Sam tries to convince Nico that he will be buying more trouble than he can
handle if he takes on Jason and Sonny. When Sam warns Nico to quit pushing her
around, Nico reveals that he has guessed that Samantha is pregnant with the
Sonny's child. Jason arrives at the penthouse just as Nico leaves the building,
holding Sam at gunpoint. Sam struggles out of Nico’s grasp, but he soon
recaptures her, just as Jason appears with a gun trained on Nico. When Nico
refuses to surrender his gun and leave, Jason fires and a wounded Nico flees the
scene. While Nico escapes, Jason stops to make sure that Samantha is okay. Then
Jason rushes Sam to the Hospital. Jason arrives at the hospital and rushes
Samantha in to see Dr. Meadows while Courtney is still waiting at the Nurses'
Station to contact Carly. Dr. Meadows assures Sam and Jason that
"their" baby is okay. But Dr. Meadows also warns Sam and Jason that if
they want Sam to carry the baby to term, Sam should leave Jason's home if it is
not safe for her to be at the penthouse or to be anywhere near Jason! Sonny
finds Jason and Sam involved in a serious conversation about the future of
"their" baby and Sonny notices that Sam and Jason are holding hands! Sam sneaks into Sonny's hospital room to talk to him. She apologizes to
him for why he got shot since she got involved with Nico when she was young and
he shot Sonny and went after Jason because of his obsession with her. Sonny
tells her she isn't to blame for what happened to him or Jason. She thanks him
for treating her like a human being and letting her be herself when no one else
did. Carly shows up at Jason's place to ask him to go away with Sam and take her
out of the country so that Nico will follow them and keep away from Sonny. Jason
tells her he can't leave town with Sam right now and asks her if she would want
Sam and the baby to put themselves in harm's way just because she wants Nico
away from Sonny. Carly tells him that she wants to keep Sonny and her family
safe and can't do that right now because the family is vulnerable right now and
she needs him to protect them. Jason tells her that he thinks it is best right
now to handle Nico while is right here in Port Charles and that if he can't do
that he will consider leaving the country with Sam for a while. Jason
shows up at the hospital and finds Sam talking to Sonny. Sonny questions Jason's
judgment when he asks him why he shot at Nico when the man had a gun on Sam and
was holding her. Jason tells him he shot Nico only because he had a clear shot
and that Sonny knows he wouldn't put Sam in any danger otherwise. Sonny tells
them he is going to be released from the hospital later today. Jason goes back
to the penthouse with Sam. On the docks, Nico meets with his employer, Faith. She tells him he has already
struck out twice by not being able to kill Jason or Sonny at GH. Nico tells her
he wants Sam back for himself. She reminds him that he is working for her and
she has paid him to do a job. She tells him they are going on to plan b now. She
tells him he is going to pretend to take her out and then she wants him to kill
Alcazar afterwards so the cops and the D.A. will think Sonny was behind the
hits. Jason tells Sam she shouldn't have gone to see Sonny earlier since Carly could
have walked in and overheard them and their secret would be revealed. Sam tells
him she only went to thank Sonny. Sam admits that she is glad she is pregnant.
Sam's cell-phone rings and she answers it. Nico is on the other line and tells
her to meet him on the pier and if she doesn't show up he will tell her
boyfriend Jason about the secret she doesn't want anyone to know. Jason asks her
if that was Nico and what he wanted. Sam doesn't know what to say to him. Sam
received a call from Nico on her cell phone asking her to meet him on the
waterfront. Jason was there when the call came in, and, when he asked her about
it, she only admitted that it was Nico but not about the meeting. Jason took her
phone from her and ordered Max to watch the door so she couldn't leave. Sam
remembered when Nico had been in court and threatened to expose her biggest
secret. In the present, she felt the baby kick and was comforted. Sam heard
somebody outside the door and assumed it was Max. She yelled out to him but
received no response, prompting her to venture into the corridor. Suddenly,
Nico, gun in hand, grabbed her. At that moment, the elevator doors opened, and
Carly appeared! Carly witnesses the situation and drop kicks Nico and beats the crap out of him.
She wrestles his gun away, and grabs her purse and Sam, and runs into her
apartment. Once inside, Carly calls 911 and tells them to get there immediately.
Meanwhile, Ric refuses to let Sonny and Jason go, until they see Max get carried
into the station. Realizing that no one is guarding the penthouses, Sonny makes
a move to leave, but is stopped by Ric. Word of Carly's 911 call flutters
through the station, and Ric finally let’s Sonny and Jason run home. He
follows with police officers, and they all arrive to hear Sam say that Carly
saved her life. Ric insinuates that the entire showdown was set up to keep him
from Sonny, but Carly will have none of it and let's him have it. She taunts him
on his sad life, and finally kicks him out of her apartment. Sam then thanks
Carly for saving her life. Carly tells her she's welcome, and immediately
demands that Jason follow through on his promise and take Sam out of town. With
Sonny's okay, Jason takes a reluctant Sam to the island for safekeeping away
from the Corinthos family. As Sam looks around at Carly's renovation of the
island home, Nico watches her and Jason from the patio. Sam warns Jason that he must kill Nico before Nico kills him. Jason
promises her that he'll keep her safe, but both are rattled when a spy of
Sonny's lets them know that Nico is on the island. Jason accompanies her back to
the bar where Nico was drinking, but they find him gone. Sam returns to the
living room from taking a bath, and Nico is waiting for her. He tells her that
all he wants is her, and he can't believe that she was with Sonny and Jason. He
taunts her about both men, and tells her he hates her unborn baby. As he's about
to assault her, Jason breaks through the front door and shoots him. Sam is
terrified, and Jason rushes to her side. Nico lies dying on the floor, and Jason
demands that he tell them who hired him. Nico swears he worked alone and only
wanted Sam, but as he dies he warns her that he isn't the only one looking for
her. Jason demands that Nico tell Jason who paid Nico to go after Jason and Samantha.
Nico insists that he only wanted to get at Sam and hints that Nico is not the
only one who is looking for Sam! But Nico dies before he can answer any more of
Jason's questions. When Jason demands that Sam explain Nico's dying statement,
Sam insists that she is clueless. A mysterious stranger, working with a
computer, calls up a booking record of a blond, "Sandra McIntire", who
resembles Sam, from the Bailey's Beach Police Department. Sam tries to convince
Jason that Nico's dying words were merely a last act of revenge, but Jason
remains unconvinced. Jason pleads with Sam to level with him so he can continue
protecting her, but Sam continues to insist that she knows nothing. Jason
decides to take Sam back to Port Charles. Jason calls Sonny and reports that Nico is dead, that Sam and the baby are fine, and that Jason and Sam are en route back to town. Jason and Sam suddenly return to Sonny's Penthouse. Jason shows Sonny a note that Nico dropped at Molly's Bar, which confirms that someone was paying Nico to go after Jason and Sam. Sonny makes plans to have the note analyzed. Sam is relieved when Jason stays mum after Sonny asks Jason if Nico dropped any more hints before he died. Later, Jason secretly explains to Sonny that Jason is convinced that Sam is still covering something up. As Jason confides that Sam is still afraid of something, Carly slips unnoticed into the room and listens in as Sonny and Jason discuss Sam. Sonny orders Jason to keep digging into Sam's past. Carly meets later with Felicia and asks Felicia to dig into Sam's past. At the same time, the mysterious stranger alters the picture of "Sandra McIntire" by giving her long, dark hair and exclaims: "Gotcha!" **The End** |
