Biotoxin
DVD #1 January 15 - 23, 2009: 6 complete episodes, no
commercials
January 8 -
Edited - Winifred met with Agent Rayner. He told Winifred that thanks to
her, they had Spinelli right where they wanted him as he has hacked into
secure systems all over the world. Winifred appeared to have reservations
about her role in setting Spinelli up. She told Agent Rayner that she
didn't think Spinelli intentionally broke the law, and he wasn't a threat
to national security. To Spinelli, Winifred explained, it was more about
the challenge than the crime. Agent Rayner didn't care what Spinelli's
motivations were. He told her that Spinelli was nothing more than a means
to an end. He was the lure for a much bigger fish.
January 12 - Edited - Maxie tried in vain to intercede as Spinelli was
handcuffed and arrested by two FBI agents as a threat to national
security. When Jason arrived at the police station, Diane told him
the bad news. She said that the FBI had proof that Spinelli had hacked
into systems protected by national security. She said that Spinelli was
looking at very serious charges. When Rayner called Jason in, Diane wanted
to go along, but Rayner told Jason it would go better for Spinelli if
Rayner could see Jason alone. Jason acceded to his wishes. As soon as
Jason was in the interrogation room, he asked Rayner if Spinelli had been
arrested to get to Jason. Rayner admitted that he had. He told Jason to
make no mistake. He said that Spinelli's freedom and potentially, his life
were at risk if Jason did not do exactly as Rayner said.
January 13 - Edited - Agent Rayner told Jason they would cut a deal with
him to set Spinelli free if Jason would give the FBI information about
Sonny and the Zacchara family. The FBI wanted Jason to continue acting as
head of the Corinthos family and work undercover for the FBI. If Jason
cooperated, Spinelli would be released. If Jason didn't cooperate,
Spinelli would go to prison for life. Jason offered a full confession if
they would let Spinelli go. Jason was even willing to turn Anthony
Zacchara over, but Jason didn't want to betray Sonny. Agent Rayner said
Jason was not in a position to negotiate.
January 14 - Edited - Jason was not happy when Rayner showed up at his
door. He told Rayner that their relationship would be revealed if it were
known that Rayner was coming to Jason's apartment. Rayner said that he did
not care about that, because priorities had shifted. He told Jason that a
truck belonging to Equinox Corporation had been hijacked. He said that the
number one priority was the recovery of that truck. Rayner demanded that
Jason locate the missing truck through his sources. When Jason said that
an FBI raid would compromise his informant status, Rayner told him to use
whatever means were necessary to find and recover the missing truck.
January 15, 2009 - Monica, Matt and Elizabeth were operating on a patient
while Patrick was on another floor in the hospital. Patrick appeared
concerned after he read an X-ray. He raced to the bank of elevators while
Epiphany reached for the phone to make a call. When the elevator doors
failed to immediately open, Patrick ran to the stairwell and sprinted up
several flights of stairs. As the scenes unfolded, Monica and Matt were
heard talking their way through the surgery.
Nicolas was shown at General Hospital. As he reached for a hospital phone,
Nicolas looked up and saw a woman standing at the nurse's station. He was
taken aback by her uncanny resemblance to Emily.
Kate was seen walking with a determined stride. She stopped for a moment
to gather herself. The clock on the wall at the hospital showed that it
was 7 o'clock.
Robin was at home. She appeared distraught as Emma was heard crying in the
background. In her agitation, Robin picked up the baby monitor and threw
it across the room.
Carly and Sonny were standing close together during the benefit gala at
the hospital. Carly was smiling until something caught her attention. Her
smile disappeared as she stepped away from Sonny. He turned to see what
had caused the change in Carly. Claudia approached Sonny from behind then
reached for Sonny's arm.
Lulu was in her apartment. She seemed troubled as she took off her
necklace then walked out of the room. Johnny and Maxie were in a garage of
some sort. Johnny carried Maxie to a pallet and gently laid her down. She
appeared alert.
Spinelli was shown at the penthouse. He grabbed a briefcase before he
rushed out of the door. Jason was in his car. His expression was grim, as
he drove down the road.
When Patrick reached the surgical floor, he ran to the operating room. In
his haste, Patrick bumped into a nurse, who was pushing a cart. The nurse
fell as the cart tipped over. Patrick didn't pause to help her. Matt told
his surgical team that they had a bleeder. He warned everyone that
something was wrong with the patient. In the next instant blood splattered
across Matt's face. Patrick made it to the observation window of the
operating room. He banged the window and shouted, "Stop!" to
everyone inside. No one appeared to hear him as pandemonium broke out.
Monica reached for her surgical mask and pulled it away from her face as
her eyes drifted close and she fell to the ground. A fire erupted as
everyone began scrambling for their lives. Patrick, wearing a coat over a
set of hospital scrubs, sat down in a dark room. Whom he was talking to
was unknown. He began by stating that he was a neurosurgeon who was
trained to be detached. As he talked about the
beginning of "that day," the story started to unfold.
9 hours before the surgery: 10am. Patrick arrived at General Hospital. He
was exhausted because Emma had not slept through the night. Epiphany
didn't have much sympathy for Patrick because she felt certain that Robin
did the lion's share of caring for Emma. They exchanged good-natured jabs
for a few minutes before Epiphany turned to Leyla with an assignment. A
blizzard was moving in and the hospital had been put on an emergency
alert.
At home, Robin was unpacking and settling into her new home when the
doorbell rang. It was Elizabeth. She had brought a casserole over as a
house-warming gift. Robin invited Elizabeth inside and enlisted her help.
While Elizabeth took notes, Robin prioritized what needed to be done to
unpack efficiently everything. Robin appeared overwhelmed at times so
Elizabeth suggested that Robin relax and take things one step at a time.
Robin bristled over the advice. She asked Elizabeth if she and Patrick had
been talking about Robin and motherhood. Robin was visibly relieved when
Elizabeth assured her that she hadn't.
Unfortunately, a few minutes later, Emma woke up and began crying. Robin
seemed reluctant to attend to her daughter so she invited Elizabeth to
feed the baby. Elizabeth was uncertain because Emma was not familiar with
her. Robin assured Elizabeth that Emma would be fine then, on the pretense
of running a few urgent errands, Robin asked Elizabeth to watch Emma for a
while. Robin quickly left without giving Elizabeth the opportunity to
decline.
At the Metro Court hotel, Carly and Jax reviewed few things as they made
final preparations for the benefit function later that evening. Carly
cautiously broached the subject of Sonny. She told Jax that Sonny had
asked her to stop by Greystone Manor so that they could discuss some
things concerning the benefit. Carly didn't want to go over to Sonny's if
Jax had a problem with it. Jax appreciated Carly's consideration and told
her that he understood why she had to go there. He assured her that he did
not want to police her life. Carly was relieved and both realized that
their relationship was in a better place because of their honesty with
each other.
At Greystone, Sonny was annoyed when Spinelli showed up and began rambling
about Jason. Sonny couldn't understand Spinelli so he demanded that
Spinelli clarify himself or leave. Spinelli pulled himself together and
managed to explain that he believed that Jason was in trouble with the
FBI. Sonny said little as Spinelli blurted everything out. He told Sonny
that the FBI had arrested him but released after Jason cut a deal with the
agent in charge of the investigation. Sonny was stunned that Spinelli had
revealed so much inflammatory information to Sonny. He asked Spinelli if
Jason was aware of Spinelli's decision to turn to Sonny for help. Spinelli
admitted that Jason had advised Spinelli drop the matter entirely.
Sonny asked Spinelli if he was stupid. Before Spinelli could respond,
Sonny advised Spinelli to honor Jason's request and keep his mouth shut
about the arrest and Jason's subsequent visit to the Port Charles police
department. Spinelli didn't heed Sonny's advice. Spinelli was certain that
Jason's reluctance to confide in Spinelli showed that Jason was in a
difficult situation. Sonny suggested that the reason Jason didn't trust
Spinelli with the details of the dropped charges was because Spinelli
would blab about it to everyone. Furious with Spinelli's loose lips, Sonny
threw the young man out of his home. As a parting shot, Sonny told
Spinelli to find another line of work; he was too weird to work in the
mob.
Jason was at his penthouse, on the phone with Bernie. Someone was knocking
impatiently on the front door while Jason ordered Bernie to find a
hijacked Equinox truck. After he wrapped up the call, Jason answered to
door. It was Maxie. She was concerned about Spinelli and wanted talk to
Jason about it. Jason listened as Maxie explained that Spinelli was upset
because he felt as if he had ruined Jason's life. His hurt was compounded
by Jason's refusal to tell Spinelli about what the deal that Jason had cut
with Rayner to get the charges against Spinelli dropped. Maxie thought she
could help Spinelli if Jason told her what was really going on. Jason's
response was to tell Maxie that it was none of her business. He told her
that if he wouldn't tell Spinelli, he certainly wouldn't tell Maxie.
Maxie was frustrated by Jason's stubbornness to open up and started to
chastise him for making things difficult for Spinelli. During her tirade,
Maxie revealed that she had slept with Spinelli to keep him from falling
for Winifred. Jason couldn't believe Maxie's logic. He told her that using
Spinelli like that made absolutely no sense. He advised Maxie to focus on
being a friend to Spinelli. Jason was certain that if Maxie calmed down
about things, it would help settle Spinelli down. Before he sent her on
her way, Jason warned Maxie not to sleep with Spinelli again, unless she
cared about him.
After Maxie's departure, Robin dropped by for a visit. Jason was happy to
see her but told her that it was not a good idea for her to be at his
penthouse because of the danger around him. Robin brushed his concerns
aside and showed Jason pictures of Emma. As he looked at the pictures,
Robin asked him how Carly knew that she had been suffering from
post-partum depression following Michael's birth.
Jason took Robin over to the sofa and the two sat down. Jason told Robin
that Carly had realized there was a problem when she couldn't bring
herself to touch Michael. Shortly after his birth, Jason had taken Carly
to the NICU to see Michael but Carly was refused to hold her son. A couple
of days later, Carly decided to leave town for a while. Robin made a few
derisive comments about Carly's fitness as a mother and then seemed to
conclude that all was well with her. Robin decided that she didn't suffer
from PPD because she didn't have the same symptoms that Carly had
exhibited. Jason cautioned Robin not to rely on him for a diagnosis. He
reminded Robin that he only knew Carly's case and urged her to seek
professional advice. Robin waived away Jason's concern. She told him that
Patrick had only made the suggestion and put the concern in her head, that
she had PPD, because he was a perfectionist. He needed to have a diagnosis
for everything. Robin thanked Jason for his help and left before Jason
could persuade Robin to see a specialist about her situation.
Claudia was in the living room, with her laptop, when Carly walked in
looking for Sonny. Claudia was annoyed by Carly's lack of boundaries. She
demanded that Sonny's ex leave Greystone immediately. Carly refused so the
two traded a few heated words before Sonny walked in. Sonny let Claudia
know, in no uncertain terms, that Carly was a part of his life and welcome
in his home. Frustrated that Sonny had sided with Carly, Claudia gathered
her things. Before she stormed out, Claudia told Sonny that Carly's
loyalty was to Jason, Sonny's enemy.
After Claudia was gone, Carly turned to Sonny. She told him that Jason was
not his enemy. Sonny deftly changed the subject to the benefit gala that
Carly had organized. As they went over the guest list, Sonny asked if
Jason would be attending. Carly reminded Sonny that Jason hated formal
events but offered to invite him if Sonny wanted Jason to be there. Sonny
declined the offer.
Maxie returned to the offices of Crimson and called Clarice. Maxie was
looking for Kate, but Clarice had no idea where their boss was. Before
Maxie ended the call, she reminded Clarice of an important deadline. Matt
had walked in during the tail end of the phone call. He was impressed with
what he had heard. Maxie said that she couldn't care less what Matt
thought and tried to ignore him. Matt refused to be dismissed. Instead, he
asked Maxie out on a date. Maxie made it clear that she wasn't interested
but Matt didn't seem to believe her. When he brought up Spinelli, Maxie
became defensive. She told him that Spinelli was her closest friend and
what they had went beyond dating. Matt took that to mean that Maxie did
not have romantic feelings for Spinelli. Unfortunately, Spinelli chose
that moment to make an appearance at Crimson. Matt eagerly shared his
newfound discovery with Spinelli.
At the hospital, Patrick decided to go home. Initially Epiphany was
reluctant to see the doctor leave because of the impending blizzard but
she quickly realized that Patrick was too distracted to be of use at the
hospital. She sent Patrick on his way with her blessing.
When Patrick arrived home, with a bouquet of red roses, he found Elizabeth
waiting instead of Robin. Elizabeth explained that Robin had left to run a
few errands. Elizabeth had kept herself busy taking care of Emma and
unpacking a few things in the living room to help Robin out. Elizabeth
tried to ease Patrick's worries about Robin's recent struggles but to no
avail. Robin walked in to hear Patrick admit that he was seriously
concerned about his wife. Elizabeth tried to ease Patrick's worries about
Robin's recent struggles, to no avail. Robin walked in to hear Patrick
admit that he was seriously concerned about his wife.
Sonny stopped by Jason's penthouse to tell him about Spinelli's earlier
visit and what he had revealed. He confronted Jason with his suspicions
that Jason had cut a deal with the FBI. When Jason didn't deny it, Sonny
concluded that Jason had agreed to help the FBI take Sonny down. He
realized he was right when Jason remained silent.
January 16, 2009 - Patrick arrived home from work early and found
Elizabeth had come over to help with the move and watch Emma while Robin
ran some errands. Robin was surprised to see how much Liz had gotten done,
but Liz explained that she was used to working quickly, since she was a
single mom. Once Liz was gone, Robin seemed a bit jealous and said she
hoped Liz wouldn't be popping in all the time. Patrick used that
opportunity to bring up the subject of post-partum depression. Robin
insisted again that she wasn't suffering from depression and she had asked
Jason for his opinion, also. Patrick couldn't understand why she would go
to Jason instead of her husband, but Robin told him that Carly had
suffered from post-partum depression after she had Michael. Carly lived
with Jason at the time, so he had witnessed the symptoms. Robin wasn't
suffering from any of the same symptoms Carly had. Patrick decided he
didn't want to spend the afternoon arguing with
Robin. He loved her and wanted to spend some time with their family. He
wanted to take a picture in their new house, but Robin was clearly
uncomfortable with her daughter.
Spinelli watched as Maxie and Matt flirted and argued with each other.
Matt told Maxie she had gorgeous eyes, but Maxie wasn't interested. After
Matt left, Maxie reminded Spinelli of what a jerk Matt was. She enjoyed
fighting with him, but would never date him. Sam met up with Maxie and
Spinelli to express her concerns about Jason. Spinelli was also very
worried about what he had gotten his master into. Maxie reassured them
both that Jason was fine. She had gone to see Jason to thank him for
helping Spinelli, and they all just needed to drop it. That information
seemed to worry Spinelli and Sam even more, though.
Later, Spinelli worked on some of the office equipment at Crimson while
Maxie flirted on the phone. Spinelli was disturbed by her conversation,
but Maxie assured him it was just her way of getting free samples from one
of their distributors. Spinelli once again started to fret over Jason, so
Maxie reminded Spinelli that he had friends who would stand by his side
until things got better. Spinelli worried that things would get worse
before they would get better.
At Wyndemere, Nikolas and Alexis talked about the situation with Aunt
Raylene's patent and Equinox Corporation. Nikolas was putting himself in a
very dangerous situation, especially for someone Alexis suspected Nikolas
didn't love. He admitted that he enjoyed spending time with Nadine, but he
wasn't sure about love just yet. It was Emily's birthday, and he really
just wanted Alexis to back off. They talked about how weak Nikolas had
become after Emily's death. Nadine gave Nikolas hope, but he wasn't sure
if he was capable of that deep love that he had shared with Emily. Nadine
walked in and interrupted Nikolas and Alexis' conversation by telling them
what a wonderful afternoon they were going to have. After Alexis left,
Nikolas told Nadine he would have to meet her at the charity event. He had
something he had to do.
Ric walked in as Claudia was listening to Jerry's DVD again. He had been
waiting for her at Jake's, but Claudia hadn't shown up. She said she had
gotten busy, but Ric was more interested in finding out what had Claudia
so spooked. Anthony walked in and told them they shouldn't be sleeping
together in Sonny's house. They were taking serious risks by doing so. Ric
started to stand up for Claudia, but she stopped him and assured her
father that they were exercising full discretion.
Sonny relayed to Jason his anger atthe thought of him turning Sonny and
the Zaccharas over to the Feds. Sonny didn't think Spinelli was worth that
kind of betrayal. The only way Jason could get Spinelli out of trouble was
to make a deal. Jason couldn't turn over on Sonny, so he wanted Sonny to
leave the Zacchara organization before the Feds swept into action. Sonny
couldn't leave yet. He knew Karpov hadn't shot Kate and he suspected
someone in the Zacchara family had set up the shooting. He had Anthony
just where he needed him in order to get the information. Sonny couldn't
just leave the organization.
Sam met up with Jason and told him she was sure he had cut a deal to get
Spinelli out of jail. In one moment, Spinelli went from facing hard jail
time to being released. Someone had to cut a deal, and she knew it had
been Jason. Sam knew Jason cared about Sonny, though. She asked him what
he was going to do.
Meanwhile, Sonny walked into his living room and asked if he had missed a
scheduled meeting when he saw Anthony, Ric, and Claudia gathered around
talking. Anthony said the recent events had disturbed him. Although Sonny
said he had a plan, Anthony thought it was taking too long. Anthony had
decided he needed to make his own plan, and he wouldn't be telling Sonny
anything about the new shipment. If Jason interfered, Anthony would take
care of him. Sonny didn't seem upset, which surprised both Anthony and
Claudia. Sonny said he wasn't interested in a power struggle, and he
looked forward to their future together. Anthony seemed satisfied, so he
and Ric left.
Once they were alone, Sonny noticed Claudia was jittery. Claudia blamed it
on her father and Ric's scheming tactics, but Sonny wasn't totally
convinced. He reminded her again that if she were hiding something from
him, he would find out about it.
Matt walked into the hospital and listened as Epiphany and Liz talked
about the storm and the possibility of sledding. They laughed over the
thought of Patrick bringing Robin flowers and how far away Matt was from
that life. Matt agreed that Patrick was lucky to have such a great little
baby. Matt planned on being the top surgeon while Patrick was playing the
part of the family man.
January 19, 2009 - Patrick continued to tell Agent Rayner his story about
the events leading up to a horrific event in Port Charles. Elsewhere
Winifred talked to officials higher up in the chain of command.
Seven Hours Before Surgery - 12:00 p.m. Patrick and Robin were kissing on
the sofa in their new home, but when things started to get passionate,
Robin told Patrick that she was not recovered enough to make love with
him. Patrick told her he understood and changed the subject. Robin said
she felt fat, ugly, and out of shape, but Patrick told her he loved her
and she was beautiful to him. Robin worried out loud about her own
negative feelings and said that she did not feel like herself. When she
said that she thought she should talk to her obstetrician, Kelly, Patrick
encouraged her. Before they could converse further, Matt knocked on the
door with a gift for the new homeowners. Shortly after Robin had opened
and admired Matt's gift of a barbeque set, Maxie also dropped in with a
housewarming present. She did not respond well to seeing Matt there. The
two of then sparred verbally before Maxie left in a huff after calling
Matt egotistical. He laughed.
After she left, Matt told Robin and Patrick that he liked Maxie and wanted
to date her. Patrick told him to proceed at his own risk, but Robin
cautioned Matt that Maxie's tough veneer hid a vulnerable heart. After
Matt took off for work, Robin and Patrick shared many heartfelt words.
Robin was surprised to learn that Patrick had fallen in love with her
early in their relationship, when he had been exposed to HIV. They shared
their love for each other and sat on their couch and admired their new
home.
Johnny went to Coleman for a job, but Coleman told him that business was
slow and he had just let a bartender go. Coleman did tell Johnny that he
had a friend with a chop shop that would give him $500.00 for every stolen
car he brought in, but Johnny said the job had to be legitimate. As Johnny
was about to leave Jake's, Coleman told him that the janitor had called in
sick and offered Johnny forty dollars to do the job. Johnny picked up the
mop and pail that Coleman indicated.
Spinelli went to Jake's looking for a place to sit with his computer,
since his other two haunts, Kelly's and the coffeehouse had burned to the
ground. He spotted Johnny mopping floors. Johnny told Spinelli his story
and begged Spinelli not to tell Lulu.
Spinelli agreed and offered to loan Johnny money so he would not have to
pretend. Johnny said, No, that he had to do it own his own. Spinelli also
offered to give Johnny computer lessons to enhance his job skills. Johnny
said maybe and thanked Spinelli for being a friend. Both Spinelli and
Johnny were working when Maxie came searching for Spinelli and spotted
Johnny.
Maxie immediately wanted to know what he was doing there because Lulu had
told her that he got a job as an orderly at General Hospital. He told
Maxie the truth, but pleaded with her not to tell Lulu because he did not
want Lulu to worry about him or be disappointed. Maxie agreed, but told
Johnny that in her experience, lying to the person you trusted and who
trusted you was a recipe for disaster.
After Maxie left, Spinelli wondered why Johnny did not tell Lulu the
truth. Johnny said he wanted to protect her, and that there were worse
things she could learn about him than that he had lied to her about a job.
When Spinelli jumped to the conclusion that Johnny was cheating on Lulu,
Johnny quickly told Spinelli that he loved Lulu. He said that the truth
was that it was hard to be from a mob family and not be party to some
action that you regretted.
Carly went to Crimson in answer to Lulu's frantic call. Lulu told Carly
that Johnny was pretending to have a job because he did not want to
disappoint her. Lulu outlined her scheme to lure Johnny to the hotel to
meet her while Carly had a pretend argument with Marty about hotel
security in front of them. At that point, Carly would notice them and
spontaneously offer Johnny a job. Carly listened, but advised Lulu not to
manipulate Johnny, but to let him find a job on his own, no matter how
hard it was for him. Carly told Lulu that every time she had lied or
manipulated someone she loved, it had ended up hurting more than it
helped.
Jax and Kate met in the lobby. When he told her that he was getting back
with Carly, Kate was stunned. She told Jax that he was heading for another
fall, and that she had truly hoped that he would find a woman of quality.
She wished him good luck before flouncing off to the elevator.
At the penthouse, Sam outlined to Jason her plan to go undercover and join
the Zacchara mob so that she could get information that would help free
Spinelli from the FBI; Jason did not think it was a good idea. He thought
her ties to him, Sonny, Lucky, and her mother, the DA, might make the
Zaccharas suspicious. She thought she could handle the situation. Jason
recognized that Sam would do what she wanted to. He told Sam that if
Spinelli ended up behind bars, it was on her head.
Jax congratulated Olivia on completing the construction of new luxury
suites that had been dragging on since the hostage crisis more that two
years before. They were making plans to rent the suites when Nikolas came
in and handed Jax an injunction, which stopped the opening until an
inspector that Nikolas hired had cleared the suites for occupancy. Behind
Nikolas, a woman who bore a striking resemblance to Emily walked to the
elevator, talked on her cell phone, and then left the hotel unnoticed.
Nikolas and Jax bickered while Olivia tried to make peace, but it soon
became clear to her that the fight between Jax and Nikolas involved more
than the suites. Nikolas wanted Spoon Island back from Jax, who blamed
Nikolas for taking advantage of Carly to buy into the hotel and for
seducing Courtney when she was married to Jax. Nikolas offered to
buy back Spoon Island for twenty percent over the purchase price, but Jax
refused. Nikolas was smug. When he left, he told Jax not to count on
opening the suites until spring.
Jax was upset after Nikolas left, but not for long. Olivia pulled out a
cell phone that she had picked from Nikolas' coat pocket. She called the
inspector and told him that Nikolas wanted an appointment for the
following day. When he obliged, she told the inspector to send the bill to
Nikolas. Jax was overjoyed by her quick thinking.
Olivia placed a call to Windemere to say that a guest had found Nikolas'
cell phone. Before she could complete the call Nikolas came back for it.
She gleefully told him that the inspector would be at the Metro Court on
the following day. Nikolas, not a fan of her quick thinking, told Jax that
he would regain control of Spoon Island by any means necessary.
Ric went to Jason and delighted in saying that Anthony would come after
Jason if he destroyed Anthony's property again. Jason remained stoic, even
when Ric said that Jason's friendship with Sonny would not help him avoid
retaliation. Jason showed Ric the door as Carly entered.
Carly had come to talk to Jason about the benefit she was hosting that
evening for pediatric head trauma and the foundation she was setting up to
honor Michael. She worried that the coming blizzard might interfere with
the party, but primarily she wanted Jason to attend and try to heal the
rift with Sonny. Jason was noncommittal on the subject, but asked Carly if
the real reason she was starting the foundation was because she believed
that it might bring Michael back.
Maxie was in a snit about a scuffed shoe by the time she got to Crimson.
She babbled on to Lulu as she changed shoes. She was talking about
Spinelli when she almost let it slip that she had seen Johnny at Jake's.
Sam spotted Ric in the Metro Court and made a beeline to him. When he
wondered what she wanted, she quickly answered that she wanted an
introduction to Anthony Zacchara so that she could get a job. Ric was
ready to turn her down when she said that she could pilot a boat and do a
lot of other things for Mr. Zacchara. Behind her, Anthony said he wanted
to know what kind of things Sam had in mind to do for him.
January 20, 2009 - Due to the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th
President of the United States, today's episode of General Hospital was
preempted. There will be no "lost" episodes as a result of this
programming change and broadcasting will return to a regular schedule on
Wednesday, January 21, picking up where Monday, January 19's episode
concluded.
January 21, 2009 - Patrick continued his story about the events leading up
to the catastrophe in Port Charles. He told Agent Rayner that he first
became aware that Earl Bragg, a patient in the operating room, was
carrying classified materials when Patrick saw the x-rays. Agent Rayner
responded that it was not the FBI's fault that the accident had happened,
but that of Equinox Corporation. He said the FBI was only there to clean
up.
In an office somewhere, Winifred was on the phone being grilled. She told
a higher-up that she was still compiling a list of potential victims, and
that Sonny Corinthos and his wife, Claudia, were on the list.
Six Hours Before Surgery - 1:00 p.m. Jerry taunted Claudia as he gave her
oblique clues to the whereabouts of another DVD hidden in Sonny's study.
Sonny entered the room while she was crawling around looking under the
furniture. When he wanted to know what she was doing, she said she was
looking for a lost earring. Claudia turned the subject to mob business and
urged Sonny to kill Jason before her father came after him. Sonny told
Claudia to back off and let him do things his way.
Patrick and Elizabeth chatted at the nurses' station. Patrick thanked her
for her help earlier in the day when she had stayed with Emma while Robin
ran errands.
In the lobby of the Metro Court, Anthony wanted to know what Sam could do
for him. Sam told him that she was an experienced pilot and knew all the
good places to land, with no questions asked. Ric immediately pointed out
her relationships to Jason and Lucky.
Sam responded with tales of her own. She told Anthony that Ric was being
vindictive because he had slept with her while he was still married to her
mother. She told Anthony that she and Jason were over, and that her
relationship with Lucky was on-again, off-again; the bottom line was that
no man told her what to do.
Before more was said, Johnny entered the hotel. Anthony spotted him and
called out. Johnny tried to ignore him, but Anthony would not be denied.
Sam took the opportunity to tell Anthony that she did not want to intrude
on his personal life, and she left the hotel. Anthony told Johnny that
everything he did was for Johnny. Johnny said that he did not want to be
part of Anthony's world. As Johnny walked away, Anthony told him,
"The longer you defy me, the more people who are going to get hurt.
Eventually it's going to be somebody you care about."
Upstairs at Crimson, Lulu and Maxie worked and talked. Maxie almost
blurted out that she had seen Johnny at Jake's and knew that he did not
get the job at General Hospital. Maxie started asking questions about
Lulu's relationship with Johnny. She said that she knew that Johnny loved
Lulu because he gave up his family, money, and power to be with her. What
Maxie wondered was if Lulu really loved Johnny or if she was mimicking her
parents' relationship because that was the way she thought love should be.
Lulu got defensive.
Carly and Jason talked about the benefit that Carly was hosting and the
foundation she wanted to endow to research pediatric head trauma. Jason
was more than happy to contribute to the cause, but wanted to make sure
that Carly was not setting herself up for a fall. He wanted to know if her
real motive for starting the foundation was to try to save Michael. Carly
admitted that she did hope that a cure could be found for Michel, but she
accepted the reality that chances were very slim that Michael would ever
recover. Jason offered to attend the party if Carly really wanted him
there, but she told him it was not necessary. She said she would let him
off the hook if he wrote a big check. They had a good laugh.
As Patrick left the nurses' station, Lucky arrived. He had an opportunity
to score four tickets to Disney on Ice and wanted to take Elizabeth and
the boys. Elizabeth worried about the coming blizzard and was afraid that
she could not get off work. When she checked, she found that she could not
go.
After Johnny left, Ric tried to talk Anthony out of bringing Johnny home.
Anthony gave Ric a real setdown. He said that his plan was working
perfectly. He had shot Kate and blamed it on the Russians. He had
persuaded Sonny to take over his organization and marry Claudia. Then he
had caused trouble between Jason and Sonny. Soon he expected Sonny to kill
Jason and, when that was done, Anthony would kill Sonny and the Zaccharas
would be the only ones standing. Before having his attendant wheel him
away, he chastised Ric's lack of faith.
Claudia entered the hotel just in time to see the end of Ric and Anthony's
conversation. Ric's demeanor aroused her curiosity. She went up to him and
made sexual advances. Ric was an easy mark for her charms.
Johnny went to see Sonny and thanked him for not letting Anthony's
frame-up stick to him. Johnny wanted to know why Sonny had helped him.
Sonny said that he owed Johnny because he had kidnapped Johnny and beaten
him when Michael disappeared and was believed kidnapped by the Zaccharas.
Johnny said that everything was square between them. Johnny told Sonny
that he had no interest in the family business and did not want the life
that Sonny had. He warned Sonny to watch Anthony carefully. He said
Anthony always got what he wanted and never forgot a grudge. He told Sonny
that he had run away at 16 and stayed with a non-mob cousin and his
family. He said that when Anthony found him, he had killed the whole
family as a lesson to Johnny. Sonny listened but insisted that he could
handle whatever Anthony threw his way.
Maxie was on the phone with Kate when Johnny came to see Lulu. Maxie was
very forthright with him when she advised him to tell Lulu the truth about
his lack of a job. She asked him if he really loved Lulu, and when he told
her he did, Maxie advised Johnny to go online and read up on the Luke and
Laura romance. Johnny had a puzzled expression as he left.
Kate called Lulu, who arrived at Crimson moments after Johnny left. When
she got off the phone with Kate, Lulu asked Maxie if Johnny had called.
Maxie told her that Johnny had not called. She did not mention that he had
stopped by the office in person. Both went back to their jobs with a
somber attitude.
Claudia took Ric to Sonny's and started kissing him passionately in
Sonny's study. When Ric indicated the danger, Claudia said she liked it,
and took him upstairs to her room.
Epiphany and Leyla talked at the nurses' station. Epiphany noticed that
Leyla was glowing. When questioned, Leyla took Epiphany to the hallway and
told her that she had become engaged the previous evening. Epiphany was
shocked. Leyla explained that she had not told anyone about the man she
had met through her mother because he was her dream come true and she had
not wanted to jinx it. Leyla was sure that her engagement made it okay to
share her happiness with her friends.
Patrick left a message for Robin telling her that he would be home soon.
He commiserated with Elizabeth, who had to pass on Disney on Ice. They
went on rounds together. Just as they exited the area, the elevator opened
and an Emily look-alike got off and walked to the nurses' station
Matt spotted her and introduced himself. She said that her name was
Rebecca Shaw, an x-ray technician looking for a job. Matt tried to make
small talk when she asked the way to administration, but Rebecca was not
interested. Reluctantly, Matt showed her the way.
Sam went to Jason and told her about the meeting with Anthony. She was
convinced that she would get a job with him. Jason warned Sam not to
underestimate Anthony. He worried that she was getting in over her head,
but Sam's only question was whether or not Jason was going to help her
investigate Anthony for Spinelli's sake.
Carly went to see Sonny. She wanted to talk about the benefit that
evening, but she also wanted Sonny and Jason to make peace for Michael's
sake. Sonny said that they would always all be on Michael's side, but the
business relationship between him and Jason would resolve itself or it
would not, and he did not want Carly to be in the middle. Carly had to be
happy with his answer because Sonny said his feet were cold and wet, and
he left to change shoes.
Claudia and Ric were making sounds of whoopee when Sonny went upstairs. He
heard thumping noises in Claudia's room and had his ear to the door,
poised to investigate.
Downstairs, Carly waited for Sonny and thumbed through his DVDs. Without
realizing it, she passed over a DVD that had the distinctive markings
found on DVDs that Jerry had hidden throughout Sonny's house.
January 22, 2009 - Agent Rayner continued to question Patrick about the
events that had led up to the incident at the hospital. Patrick was
annoyed because of the way that the FBI had handled things. Agent Rayner
justified their actions by insisting that they had tried to avoid a
full-scale panic. Then Rayner reminded Patrick that Patrick was there to
answer questions, not critique the FBI on their actions. Rayner got the
interrogation back on track by asking him what had happened after Patrick
had reviewed the X-rays. Patrick explained that he had ordered
Epiphany to call the OR and warn Matt not to open the patient. Rayner
wanted to know if Patrick had given Epiphany a reason for halting the
surgery. Patrick said that there hadn't been time. When Rayner revealed
that he knew that Matt was Patrick's brother, Patrick realized Rayner was
more informed than he had let on.
Meanwhile, Winifred was on the phone with an unknown person whom she
called "Sir." She told the caller that all she could confirm was
that there were several high-profile guests who had attended the benefit
at the hospital. She was unable to verify if any of them had been
associated with Equinox Industries. However, Winifred was able to tell the
caller that Nikolas Cassadine had been on the list.
Five Hours Before Surgery - 2:00 p.m. Nikolas arrived at Robin's house
bearing a housewarming gift. Robin was delighted to see Nikolas and
invited him inside. When Nikolas asked Robin how she was doing, Robin
deftly changed the subject by telling Nikolas that she knew it was Emily's
birthday. Nikolas admitted that Emily had been on his mind quite a bit
over the past few weeks. Robin understood what Nikolas felt because she
had experienced similar feelings after Stone had died.
Eventually their conversation drifted back to Robin and motherhood. Robin
confessed that she realized she was not a natural mother. Nikolas
identified with Robin. He said that Emily had been wonderful with Spencer,
while he tended to rely more on the nanny. Robin downplayed how difficult
things had been for her since Emma's birth. Instead, she focused on
opening her housewarming gift, a beautiful vase.
At General Hospital, Rebecca Shaw approached the nurse's station as Matt
worked. They exchanged some small talk about the paperwork that Rebecca
needed to complete before she asked him where she could get some coffee.
She wanted to know if the coffee in the cafeteria was worth buying. Matt
suggested a coffee bar near the hospital. When he offered to take her
there, Rebecca declined.
Sam was at Jason's penthouse trying to convince him that her plan to work
for Anthony was sound. When she asked Jason what he wanted her to do,
Jason refused to comment. He said it wasn't his place to make decisions
for her. That was enough for Sam to move forward with her scheme to
infiltrate the Zacchara organization. Jason cautioned Sam about the danger
she faced. He reminded her that the game she intended to play could cost
Sam her life. Sam thought that she had the situation under control. Jason
didn't appear to have the same confidence. He advised her not to
underestimate Anthony. He also told her not to hesitate to ask for backup
if she needed it. Spinelli's arrival interrupted them. He was clearly
agitated and rambling. Jason couldn't make sense out of what Spinelli was
saying, so he pawned him off on Sam and left. Spinelli quickly realized
that Sam was working with Jason and took umbrage over the idea of Sam
protecting Spinelli from the FBI. It
made Spinelli feel like a big wimp. However, it didn't keep Spinelli from
trying to pump Sam for information. Sam was wise to Spinelli's tricks. She
understood his concerns, but advised Spinelli to trust Jason to handle
matters.
Jason went to General Hospital to talk to Patrick about Carly. Jason was
worried that Carly had unreasonable expectations for Michael's recovery.
Patrick made it clear that everything he had told Carly about Michael's
prognosis had been true. If she had derived hope from what he had said,
then there was nothing Patrick could or would do to take that away from
her. Patrick went on to point out that Carly's foundation for children
with head injuries was a positive step to channel her hope. Before Jason
left, Patrick asked Jason about his visit with Robin. He wanted to know
what Jason's impression of Robin had been. Patrick wasn't surprised when
Jason told him that Robin had seemed a little tense.
Jason returned to the penthouse where he found Spinelli working on his
laptop. As soon as Spinelli saw Jason, he stopped working. Spinelli's
fidgety behavior and eagerness to work in his room alerted Jason to the
possibility that Spinelli was hiding something. At first Spinelli was
reluctant to tell Jason what he had been working on, but Jason pressed for
answers. Finally, Spinelli blurted out that he had been attempting to hack
into FBI files. Jason was furious. He asked Spinelli why he would risk
doing that given the circumstances of his recent arrest. Spinelli felt he
had little choice because Jason had refused to share the details of the
deal he had struck with Agent Rayner.
Sonny was about to walk into Claudia's bedroom, after hearing loud banging
coming from inside, when Max suddenly intervened. Max explained that the
noise came from a loose shutter in need of repair. Sonny believed the lie.
He ordered Max to make sure the shutter was repaired quickly, then walked
away. Claudia breathed a sigh of relief when she overheard the exchange
between Sonny and Max. While Ric and Claudia got dressed, Ric sensed that
Claudia was keeping secrets. He became convinced when Claudia tried to use
sex as a diversion tactic. Claudia managed to convince Ric that she felt
vulnerable because she was caught in the middle of a power play between
Sonny and Anthony. Ric decided to throw caution to the wind and trust
Claudia. Ric revealed that Anthony wasn't paralyzed. He also told her that
Anthony had shot Kate on her wedding day.
Claudia was stunned as Ric went on to tell her that Anthony intended to
drive a wedge between Jason and Sonny. His goal was to push until Sonny
killed Jason. Once Jason was dead, Anthony would arrange for Sonny to
follow his friend to an early grave. Ric reminded Claudia that he had
entrusted her with his life by telling her all of Anthony's secrets. It
was clear he expected Claudia to honor the trust he had placed in her.
Claudia wondered why Ric didn't appear to have a problem with the idea of
his brother being killed by Anthony.
Carly was sifting through CDs when she heard Sonny come downstairs to the
living room. She put them aside and turned her attention to Sonny. The two
talked about the snow and how they viewed it differently. Sonny hated snow
because it reminded him of bleak times in Bensonhurst with his stepfather,
Deke. Carly, on the other hand, loved the snow because she had grown up in
Florida without it. It reminded her of Christmas and family time. As they
chatted, Carly noticed that Sonny picked up the CDs to put them away. She
laughed and accused Sonny of being a control freak. Sonny didn't think
putting things in their proper place was a bad thing. Carly disagreed. She
challenged Sonny to prove her wrong by leaving the CDs where they were.
Sonny put them down then changed the subject.
They discussed the guest list for the benefit gala. When Sonny learned
that Robin had not been invited, he called Carly on it. She tried to
convince him that she had not invited Robin because she didn't think Robin
would be up to it after recently giving birth. Sonny didn't believe a word
out of Carly's mouth, which prompted her to offer to go over to Robin's
house to personally invite her to the event. Carly then asked about
Claudia. She wanted to know if Sonny intended to bring Claudia. Sonny was
noncommittal, but he reminded Carly that Claudia was his wife so it was
within her rights to attend the benefit with him.
Later, Sonny found Claudia in the living room. As she poured herself a
drink at the bar, Sonny asked her about the noise that he had heard in her
room. Claudia pretended that she had no idea what Sonny was talking about.
She told Sonny that she had been checking her email in the den, and
therefore hadn't heard any banging in her room. Sonny didn't believe her,
but he was distracted by how skittish she seemed. He asked her why she was
nervous, which made Claudia more jumpy. She was forced to explain her
behavior, so she told Sonny essentially the same thing that she had said
to Ric: she was worried about being a pawn between two powerful men.
At the Port Charles police station, Agent Rayner was on the phone in the
interrogation room with an unknown person. He admitted that their
situation was bigger than they had thought, but assured the caller that he
had a coffee importer working on things. After he ended the call, Spinelli
walked into the room. Agent Rayner was livid. He reminded Spinelli of the
serious charges that he had faced and the possibility of life in prison.
He also informed Spinelli that even though the charges had been dropped,
Rayner could reinstate them at any time. Knowing that, the agent asked,
how could Spinelli risk irritating Rayner by demanding a meeting with him?
Spinelli answered that he needed to know why the charges against him had
been dropped.
January 23, 2009 - In black and white, Patrick spoke with Agent Rayner and
explained that he had left Dr. Matt Hunter to perform a surgery so Patrick
could go home to check on Robin. No one in the operating room that evening
had expected to risk their lives while they were trying to save another
life. Meanwhile, Winifred spoke to a superior on the phone and said the
guest list was in Carly Corinthos' handwriting. She was one of the only
ones they could confirm, but she didn't explain what was confirmed.
Four hours previously: Spinelli spoke with Agent Rayner and tried to cut a
deal to help the agency out and free Jason from whatever deal he had
struck. Agent Rayner wasn't impressed and told Spinelli to get out of the
police station before he decided to put Spinelli back in jail for being a
nuisance.
Carly went over to Robin's new house to invite her to the benefit that
evening, as Sonny had requested. Emma was crying and Carly gave Robin
numerous opportunities to go get the baby. Robin wasn't interested in
attending to Emma and just wanted to know more about the benefit. Finally,
Carly couldn't stand it any longer and asked if she could pick Emma up.
The baby girl immediately stopped crying, and Carly said she was jealous
of Robin because Carly had always wanted a little girl. Robin asked Carly
if she had ever felt guilty for not wanting to pick up or spend time with
Michael when Carly was suffering from post-partum depression. Carly said
she stopped feeling bad once she knew what was wrong; after all,
post-partum depression was a medical condition. Carly was very grateful
for Sonny and Jason, because Michael always knew he was loved. As Carly
prepared to leave, Robin said she would be at the benefit that evening.
Carly and Robin agreed to try to get along during the benefit that night.
After Carly left Robin's house, she went to the hospital to speak with
Patrick. Carly was sure something was wrong with Robin, especially since
she took extreme measures not to hold the little girl. Carly knew that was
one of the signs of post-partum depression, especially since when she had
suffered from the disorder when Michael was born. Patrick started to make
excuses for Robin, but Carly pointed out that Patrick must have been
worried also if he were making excuses for his wife. If Carly hadn't
stopped by the house, Patrick's little girl could still be crying.
Once Robin was alone, she started to clean up the house and then called to
get an appointment at a local boutique. No one could fit her in that day,
but Robin made a later appointment for a manicure, pedicure, and massage.
She started to move Emma back to her nursery and prayed that Emma wouldn't
wake up. The little girl started crying, though, and Robin tried to pump
herself up by saying she had been through worse things.
Maxie met up with Spinelli at the Metro Court restaurant. Jason and
Spinelli had gotten into a fight after Jason caught Spinelli trying to
hack into the FBI's sites. Maxie wasn't very happy about that information,
but she was even more upset after she heard that Spinelli had met with
Agent Rayner. Maxie told Spinelli to stay away from the FBI and let it go.
Kate walked into the lobby and overheard Olivia on the phone doing hotel
business. Olivia was explaining to the person on the other end of the
phone that Carly wanted Mr. Corinthos' donation prior to the party, so
Olivia would be coming by later to pick up the check. When Olivia hung up,
Kate asked for a favor. The watch Kate had made for Sonny's wedding
present had finally arrived, and she wanted Olivia to deliver it for her.
Olivia started to ask questions, but Kate stopped her and asked that she
just deliver the watch.
Claudia talked to Sonny and tried to convince him to eliminate Jason.
Sonny didn't want to take any business advice from Claudia, especially
considering how badly she had treated him. Claudia was shocked to hear
that, but Sonny elaborated by reminding her how she slept with Ric in
Sonny's house, and was sneaking around and telling lies. Claudia decided
she was going to leave, but Sonny told her not to be gone for long. They
would need to leave for the benefit soon. Claudia said she knew what Sonny
was trying to do, and she would not allow herself to be used as collateral
damage.
Olivia showed up at Sonny's house to collect the check for the benefit
that night, and Sonny asked if Olivia was working for Jax or Carly. Olivia
said she was actually working for Jax, which surprised Olivia even more.
Sonny warned that Jax couldn't be trusted, and he also reminded Olivia
that Jax was the exact type of guy she grew up making fun of back in
Bensonhurst. Finally, Sonny congratulated Olivia on her new job and gave
up the check. Olivia remembered the watch from Kate and gave it to Sonny
before leaving. Olivia walked into the Metro Court just as Anthony was
speaking with Kate about her wedding to Sonny that never happened. Kate
explained that marriages and weddings usually ended better when the bride
wasn't shot. After Kate walked away, Anthony called her a bitch. Claudia
asked why Anthony was bothering Kate, and he said he was just trying to
gather information about Sonny. Claudia said the best source of
information was from Sonny's wife.
Sonny showed up at the Metro Court and asked the manager to tell Kate she
had a delivery. When Kate showed up, Sonny gave her back the watch and
said he had enough watches. Kate said she didn't want another reminder of
the past year, and Sonny asked if their relationship really meant so
little to her. Sonny said it might not matter to her, but he was going to
find out who shot her. It could be anyone, even his own wife.
Claudia and her father sat down at the Metro Court restaurant for a meal.
This was something they hadn't done in a while, but Claudia wanted to
discuss some things with her father. She knew she was more valuable to
Anthony than her mother ever was. Claudia asked if an aneurism could be
caused by someone who sat down all the time, suddenly got up and walked
into a church, picked up a Russian rifle, and shot Kate Howard. Anthony
started to deny it, but then asked why Claudia was stupid enough to tell
him she had figured out his plan.
Edward told Monica and Tracy that they needed to support Carly's benefit
to preserve Michael's memory. Tracy wasn't interested in doing anything
for Carly, but Monica thought the benefit was a good cause. The money
would go to children with head trauma that didn't have insurance. Edward
spoke up on Carly's behalf and said he had always liked his former
granddaughter-in-law. Nikolas walked in just as everyone was about to
fight. He said he was there to pay his respects to Monica, but Tracy
pointed out that she wasn't dead yet. Nikolas reminded everyone that it
was Emily's birthday.
Biotoxin Dvd #2 January 26 -
February 2, 2009 - 6 complete episodes, no commercials
January
26th, 2009 Patrick continued to tell Agent Rayner his story about
the events leading up to the catastrophe in Port Charles. Elsewhere
Winifred talked to officials higher up in the chain of command as she
tried to determine who had been exposed to the chemicals that were
released in Port Charles. She reported that Kate Howard was on the guest
list.
Three Hours Before Surgery - 4:00 p.m. Sonny tried to rekindle his
relationship with Kate as they talked in the lobby of the Metro Court. He
told her that whoever shot her would pay. Kate said that Karpov had
already paid. Sonny told her it was not Karpov. She asked him when enough
revenge was enough. He told her she had to understand that it was the way
the business worked. Kate told him that what she understood was that he
belonged with Claudia. Sonny responded that he did what he had to do, but
Kate did not see it that way. She told Sonny that they had been given a
second chance to marry and live their lives without violence, but he chose
money, power, and revenge over her. He said he had tried to go straight,
but everything changed when she was shot. She told him to stop using her
as an excuse.
Kate told Sonny that from her hospital bed, she had begged him not to take
revenge, but he had ignored her wishes. He chose the mob life and he chose
to marry a woman suited to that life. Kate said that Claudia was ruthless
and dangerous, and it proved that Claudia belonged with Sonny. Kate
stalked away and left Sonny scratching the back of his neck.
Over in the bar area, Anthony and Claudia conversed. Anthony would not
admit that he had shot Kate or that he could walk, but Claudia insisted he
could. Anthony needled Claudia about Michael's shooting, but she shot back
that at least she had not pulled the trigger. Anthony and Claudia
continued their verbal sparring. Anthony told Claudia that he might have
to kill her. Claudia told him that she could be invaluable in his plan to
have Sonny kill Jason, and then in Anthony's next step, to kill Sonny.
Anthony told Claudia that he would never need her help.
It was a tough day for Jason, who was home and on the phone talking tough
to Bernie. He was anxious to find the missing Equinox shipment for the
Feds. Bernie did not have a clue to the hijacked truck's whereabouts.
Jason talked tough and was still steaming when he answered another call.
It was Agent Rayner getting tough with Jason and demanding to know the
location of the missing truck. Jason told him he was working on it and
hung up abruptly to answer the angry knocking on his apartment door.
Lucky was at the door because a friend had told him that Sam had been to
see Jason on two occasions recently. He demanded to know what was going
on. Jason told him they were working on something together. When Lucky
wanted specifics, Jason told him to talk to Sam. Spinelli breezed through
the door and a very angry Lucky stalked out. Spinelli wanted answers from
Jason, who put on his coat. As he opened the door to leave Jason was firm
when he told Spinelli to drop his questions and stay out of Jason's
business. Spinelli did not like Jason's answer. Before Jason could exit,
Spinelli told him politely, but firmly, that Jason was treating him like a
child. Jason did not agree with Spinelli's assessment and told him in no
uncertain terms to find legitimate arenas for his talents. Jason stated
firmly that he would never reveal the terms of the deal he made with the
Feds to Spinelli. Spinelli did not like that answer and retreated up the
stairs.
Sam went to see Elizabeth at the hospital. She wanted to talk about Lucky.
Elizabeth was reluctant to get involved and advised Sam to give up her
undercover work if that was what was causing so much trouble in her
relationship with Lucky. Sam said she could not, because she had to help a
friend.
Monica, Tracy, and Edward were at home when Nikolas dropped by in
remembrance of Emily's birthday. Tracy was snide when she thanked Nikolas
for bringing attention to painful feelings. Nikolas apologized and was
ready to leave when both Monica and Edward thanked him for bringing good
wishes. Monica asked Nikolas to stay. They looked through a photo album
and talked about the happy times they had with Emily, and about how much
they had loved her and how much she had loved them. Monica admitted that
she was furious because both Alan and Emily had been victims of senseless
violence. Nikolas admitted that he was angry, also.
Carly talked to Patrick about Robin's behavior. She was convinced that
Robin was suffering from post-partum depression. Patrick tried to defend
Robin, but Carly spoke from her own experience with the disease. Patrick
became increasingly uneasy as he heard Carly's story.
As Emma cried, Robin also had tears in her eyes, but she would not pick
Emma up. She apologized to Emma for being a bad mother, but told her that
she loved her very much. Robin answered the doorbell to a very bubbly
Maxie, who had just purchased fashionable baby clothes for Emma. She
noticed Robin's tears, but got distracted by Emma. After Maxie finished
feeding and changing Emma, she rambled on to Robin about all the reasons
she was glad not to have the responsibility of child. Maxie was oblivious
to Robin's discomfort as she went on and on about what a good mother Robin
was.
Just as Maxie remembered Robin's earlier tears, Patrick came home. Robin
thought he was checking up on her. She got even more waspish when Patrick
assumed that, because of the impending storm, she would stay home with
Emma instead of attending the party at GH. Robin left the room and Maxie
followed. In the living room, Patrick found a teddy bear with a torn arm
that Robin had hidden behind a sofa pillow. In the bedroom, Maxie said
that Patrick was just being a typical protective male and she thought it
was great to see a rake like Patrick become a home-loving protective guy.
Robin was temporarily mollified, but when Patrick asked if Maxie intended
to stay until the babysitter arrived, Robin went ballistic and asked
Patrick if he thought that she needed a babysitter, also.
Lulu and Carly were chatting about a job for Johnny in the lobby of the
Metro Court when Kate saw them. She chastised Lulu for being away from her
desk when a critical call had come in. Lulu said she was on break. When
Kate ordered Lulu back to work, Carly jumped in and defended Lulu by
attacking Kate. Carly said that Jax would not let Kate fire Lulu and
promptly sent Lulu home for the day. Carly let all her antipathy out of
Kate. She gloated about her renewed relationship with Jax and Kate's loss
of Sonny.
Kate wanted to know why Carly hated her so much. Carly said that she would
always hold Kate responsible for taking Michael to the warehouse where he
was injured. As a parting shot, Carly was smug when she said that when
Sonny married Claudia, Kate became irrelevant to Carly.
At a sleazy motel, an unknown man took delivery of a box from the hijacked
Equinox truck. The box contained five round objects, each about the size
of a bonbon. He paid the delivery person with a sack of cash. After the
deliveryman left, the unknown man phoned another party and said that the
Equinox truck would never be found. He also said that he had a plan for
getting the goods to the next stop. When he put down the phone, he picked
up one of the round balls and a glass of water.
Anthony went to visit Sonny and overheard Sonny cancel the shipment that
Anthony had ordered. Sonny told Anthony that it was because of the
weather. Anthony told Sonny that he had come to warn him about Claudia,
who could not be trusted and was an accomplished liar.
Sonny thanked Anthony for his concern, but told him that he did not
believe anything that came our of Claudia's mouth. Claudia called Trevor
to see if Anthony had arrived home.
Lucky met Sam at the Metro Court bar because he was afraid that she would
be mad that he had gone to see Jason. She said that she was not mad, but
thought that Lucky would be upset because she went to see Elizabeth. Lucky
felt better knowing that she still cared, and so did Sam. They seemed to
draw closer.
Lulu called Maxie and left a message. Lulu told Maxie that she had been
sent home and someone needed to cover the phones at Crimson. After she
hung up, Lulu noticed Johnny's tie on the sofa.
As Jason reached for the door to leave his apartment, Agent Rayner knocked
on it. He demanded to know what progress Jason had made in locating the
truck. Jason said he was working on it. Rayner wanted to know why the
truck had not been found when it sported an Equinox logo and had been
spotted on Route 87. He asked Jason what he was missing. Spinelli
eavesdropped on the conversation, unbeknownst to Jason or Agent Rayner.
Sonny had just popped a DVD in the player when Claudia walked in and
demanded that he stop. Sonny wanted to know why.
January 27, 2009 - Patrick talked to Agent Rayner about his efforts to
contain the virus. They hadn't realized the deadly virus was being spread
throughout the hospital through the main vents. Winifred talked on the
phone and said she didn't know if Lulu was in the ballroom or not, but she
knew the younger Spencer was at the hospital.
Previously… Lulu called Maxie and left a message for her sometime-friend
about the situation with Carly and Kate. Lulu was pretty sure she had been
fired and worried about Maxie's job. Since no one was in the office to
answer the phones, all the calls were going straight to voicemail. Lulu
said on the voicemail that it was imperative for Maxie to get back to the
office to get to those calls.
Johnny walked into the apartment and found Lulu just having hung up the
phone from leaving the message for Maxie. Johnny had a present for Lulu,
but she asked how he could afford to get a present without having a job.
Johnny asked if she had been checking up on him. Lulu explained how she
had called Epiphany when Lulu realized Johnny had left his cell phone at
home that day. Epiphany had revealed the truth. Lulu thought they were
supposed to be honest with each other. Johnny tried explaining that his
family was the reason why he couldn't get a job, but Lulu wasn't buying
that excuse. Lulu had her own trials and tribulations, but she had still
managed to find a job. Johnny grabbed the present and walked out the door,
commenting that the gift was returnable.
When Johnny came back, he offered some money to Lulu for the rent. Lulu
tried not to take the money and apologized for what she had said earlier.
Johnny said she was right previously. Lulu wasn't worried, because Carly
had offered both of them a job. Johnny didn't want to take anything from
Carly due to her connections with Sonny. He said Lulu didn't know Sonny
the way Johnny knew Sonny. Johnny was afraid that he couldn't be the man
Lulu wanted him to be.
Sam and Lucky relaxed in the hot tub and started to kiss. Things started
to progress until Lucky mistakenly called Sam by Elizabeth's name.
Suddenly, everything was off and both Sam and Lucky were getting out of
the hot tub. After they were both dressed, Sam told Lucky that he had
given her hope when everything was going badly in her life. Lucky said it
sounded like she was saying goodbye. Sam felt that it was time to end
their relationship while they could still remain friends. She opened the
door and asked Lucky to leave, which he reluctantly did.
Once Lucky left, Sam called Jason and said she was leaving to meet a
shipment for Anthony Zacchara. She wanted him to come looking for her if
he hadn't heard from her by 2:00 the next morning. Meanwhile, Lucky talked
on his cell phone outside the hospital about meeting an associate as
Rebecca listened in and played with her phone.
Maxie watched as Robin lit into Patrick about how she didn't need a
babysitter and was perfectly capable of taking care of her own child.
Patrick sulked out of the house after the bashing from his wife, and Robin
noticed the look Maxie was giving her. Maxie wasn't about to comment for
fear her head would also be bitten off, but Robin tried to explain that
Patrick was overreacting and was just sure that his wife had post-partum
depression. Robin was overwhelmed but was not sick. Patrick arrived back
at the hospital just in time to defend Michael's charity to Matt, who felt
it was a waste of time. Patrick quickly got down to business and pulled
Elizabeth aside. He explained his concerns about Robin and post-partum
depression. Elizabeth asked if Robin was reluctant to hold Emma, and
Patrick felt that she was. Elizabeth seemed to think that Patrick might
have cause for concern.
Meanwhile, Robin went through books after dressing for the party. Emma
cried in the other room, but Robin did her best to ignore the little girl.
The phone rang and Robin was anxious to answer it. Judy, the babysitter,
was calling to say she couldn't make it due to car trouble. Robin
immediately called Patrick at the hospital, and Patrick offered to come
home as soon as possible. That wasn't what Robin wanted to hear, and she
hung up.
A trauma patient from an accident was wheeled into the emergency room, and
Patrick started to get the information on the patient. Matt stopped him
and said he would handle the case. Patrick had promised he would go home
and be with his wife.
Spinelli overheard Agent Rayner talking to Jason about the shipment from
Equinox that Jason was supposed to be finding. Jason wanted more
information, but Agent Rayner wasn't giving any additional information
out. Before the FBI agent left, he warned Jason that they needed
information soon to save innocent lives and to keep Spinelli out of jail.
Once Agent Rayner was gone, Jason called Spinelli downstairs and chastised
him for eavesdropping on the conversation. Spinelli was upset and insisted
on being able to help, but Jason wasn't about to risk Spinelli's freedom
again. As soon as Jason stormed out the door, Spinelli made a phone call
and said he and the individual on the other end of the phone needed to
meet right away.
Spinelli walked into the Metro Court and met Winifred. She immediately
started to apologize, but Spinelli didn't need an apology. He needed
information. Winifred offered to help as long as Spinelli promised not to
tell a soul. Unfortunately, Maxie walked in and saw Winifred and Spinelli
together. That upset Maximista, so she left with tears in her eyes. She
didn't realize that Winifred was giving Spinelli vital information about
the delivery Jason was trying to intercept. Spinelli rushed back home to
tell Jason what Winifred had told him. Deadly poisons were on the truck
that the federal agents were trying to obtain. Jason wanted Spinelli to go
to Maxie's, but Spinelli refused. He would reveal the rest of the
information from Winifred only if Jason agreed that they would work
together. Jason finally admitted defeat and said Spinelli would help him
on the mission.
Claudia walked into the living room and found Sonny messing with the DVD
player. She flipped out and grabbed the remote away from him, making an
excuse that she needed his full attention. Claudia said she was worried
about a relationship between Sonny and Kate, but Sonny assured her there
was no relationship with Kate. Sonny turned the DVD on and started
freaking out, which upset Claudia even more. Sonny asked if she had messed
with the audio, and Claudia realized Sonny was upset with the quality of
the DVD that had recently been transferred from a VHS tape. She apologized
and realized it was a special DVD that Sonny was trying to prepare to give
to Carly that night at the benefit. Sonny admitted he wasn't looking
forward to the night. He didn't want to be going back to the hospital
where his son had a bullet removed from his brain, and he especially
didn't want to schmooze with rich people. Sonny explained that Monica and
Edward would be there. Those were two people who felt Sonny had stolen
Michael away from them. Sonny hadn't realized that he couldn't protect his
son, and it was evident that he still felt responsible for Michael's
injury. Claudia offered to stay home if Sonny didn't want her going to the
party with him that night. Sonny said it was okay. Claudia could go if she
wanted. They went upstairs to get dressed.
Kate approached Olivia about her suspicions with Jerry and Claudia. She
explained that she had gone to Sonny's house and seen Claudia under the
bed looking for something. Olivia thought it was just harmless, but Kate
didn't feel right about the situation. She wanted Olivia to warn Sonny,
but Olivia wasn't about to get involved any further than she already was.
Olivia thought Kate was just trying to manipulate Sonny by pulling him
back and forth and teasing him into contacting her. Olivia wanted no part
of it. Kate arrived at Sonny's house just as Claudia and Sonny had gone
upstairs. She looked around briefly and easily found a DVD that looked
remarkably like the one she had seen Claudia put in her laptop that Jerry
had appeared on. Kate grabbed the DVD and tried to make a quick escape,
but Sonny came downstairs and asked what she was doing there.
Maxie, still upset from seeing Winifred and Spinelli together, drove in
the snowstorm with tears streaming down her face. Suddenly, she crashed
into a snow bank and appeared unconscious.
January 28, 2009 - Patrick continued his story about the General Hospital
Operating Room disaster. He shed tears as he told Agent Rayner that he had
been thinking about OR nurse Elizabeth Weber and her two boys, when he
should have been thinking about Robin and Emma.
Elsewhere, Winifred told a higher-up that Spinelli did not belong on a
list of criminals. She was fierce in his defense when she said that
Spinelli belonged on a list of heroes, because he knew the danger he was
facing when he entered GH, but he risked his life to save others, anyway.
One Hour Before Surgery - 6:00 p.m. Spinelli was on the computer and Jason
was on the phone with the biker gangbanger who had hijacked the Equinox
truck. He told Jason that the guns and other weapons were still on the
truck, but one small box had been delivered to a man in a motel room. He
gave a description of the man to Jason.
Jason warned the hijacker to leave the truck, keys, and cargo where it was
and get as far away from it as possible, then Jason hung up. Spinelli
wanted to track down the missing box, but Jason said he would give the
information to the Feds and his job was done. When FBI Agent Rayner
arrived, Jason told him the location of the truck, and gave a description
of the man with the missing poison. Spinelli overheard Rayner demand more
from Jason and threaten to question the hijackers personally. Jason
responded that if Rayner did that, he might as well paint a target on
Jason's back. Rayner said that he would do everything possible to protect
Jason as a source, but he demanded the name of the hijacker. When Jason
was reluctant to give it to him, Rayner was vociferous when he told Jason
that Jason could either give up the hijacker's name or Spinelli could rot
in jail.
After Jason gave Rayner what he wanted, Rayner reiterated that Jason's
help with the Equinox truck in no way changed their original deal. Jason
was to get information on Anthony Zacchara that would allow the FBI to
prosecute him. Rayner cautioned Jason to keep violence to a minimum,
because the FBI wanted Anthony alive so that they could have a public
trial. After Rayner left, Spinelli revealed himself and said that he was
honored by Jason's sacrifice on his behalf, but he was also distressed
that Jason had to betray his code. Spinelli suggested that it might aid
Jason's cause and give him some leverage if they located the buyer and
found the missing shipment for the Feds.
Spinelli pointed out that even if all they did were get the information
and give it to the Feds, they would succeed in thwarting the plans of an
"evildoer." Jason agreed. They figured the weather would make
flying difficult, so Spinelli started searching car rental records in the
Port Charles area and cross-referencing renters with driver's licenses of
those who fit the description of the buyer.
Nikolas visited Emily's tomb in the Quartermaine crypt. He stood in the
snow and told her how much he still loved her. He said that everything
reminded him of her and he still looked up expecting to see her. He
mentioned his interest in Nadine, but said that he did not feel the same
way about her as he still did about Emily.
At the Metro Court hotel, it was all business for Olivia, who impressed
Carly with her organizational skills. Carly had just told Olivia how glad
she was to have her as an employee, when Lulu stormed in. Olivia went back
to work while Carly spoke with Lulu.
Lulu told Carly that she was upset because Johnny was blaming his problems
on her. Carly said that Johnny's pride had been hurt and sometimes it was
not possible to make things better for someone else.
Sonny caught Kate as she was leaving his house. He wanted to know why she
was there. She said that she had come to tell him that she would not
attend Carly's benefit, though she would give a generous donation, because
she still had too many memories of that horrific event, which she had come
to see as the death knell for their relationship. Sonny wondered aloud if
someone besides the dead shooter had been involved. He said that if
someone else had been involved, he would make that person pay if they were
ever found out. Claudia, who had been eavesdropping at the top of the
stairs, interrupted and joined them. Before leaving, Kate told Sonny that,
even if he did make someone pay for Michael's injury, it would not change
anything. Sonny said yes it would, because he would finally get justice
for his little boy. Outside in the snow, after she left Sonny, Kate pulled
a DVD from her pocket that bore Jerry's distinctive logo.
Inside, Claudia assumed that Kate had told Sonny about finding Claudia in
his bedroom earlier in the day. He said that Kate had not told, but
Claudia just had. Claudia said she was just curious, but Sonny did not buy
it. He told her to stay out of his bedroom unless she was invited. Claudia
said okay. Despite the raging snowstorm, they left for the benefit
together.
Sam was brought into the emergency room with a sprained wrist. Another
driver hit her car, which skidded off the road. While Elizabeth took her
vitals, Sam said that the other driver was in much worse condition because
his car had plowed into a pole.
Patrick was ready to do surgery on the driver whose car hit Sam's, but
Matt told him to go home to Robin and Emma because he could handle the
problem. The patient started moaning in pain. His abdomen was distended.
As Matt and Patrick felt for the problem, Epiphany told Patrick that the
man's name was Earl Bragg. He was the man who had hit Sam and also the man
who took delivery of the missing Equinox shipment.
As Bragg's pain worsened, Matt was ready to open him up, but Patrick
wanted to wait for the x-rays. Patrick moved on to another patient while
Matt stayed with Bragg. Patrick's next patient was Sam. He treated her
sprain and said the other guy had serious internal injuries and would
probably need surgery. He asked Elizabeth to assist.
Sam said she was not surprised because he was driving much too fast for
the blizzard conditions. Elizabeth left to prep for surgery. Sam asked
after Robin and Emma. Patrick spoke of his love for both, but Sam
recognized the worry beneath his words. Patrick ordered tests for Sam and
she shared her experience after a c-section. She told Patrick that no
matter how depressed and upset she had been, the one thing that got her
through was that Jason was always there for her and gave her his boundless
love. She told Patrick that if he could do that for Robin, she was sure
that all the problems would work themselves out. Patrick said thank you.
At Crimson, Kate played Jerry's DVD and was stunned when Jerry
sardonically complimented Claudia on her successful quest to hide her
involvement in Michael's shooting. Kate listened intently as Jerry
detailed Claudia's participation. He told how she had hired Ian Devlin to
kill Sonny. He acknowledged that she did not intend harm toward Michael,
but he insisted that she was responsible nonetheless. After a taunting
comment about Sonny's vindictiveness, he said that the next clue could be
the gateway to her peace of mind. Then Jerry ended the recording.
Carly and Jax talked in the hotel lobby. She feared that the storm would
spoil attendance at the benefit, but he said it was a worthy cause and the
roads were still open. Carly was disappointed when she learned that Jax
had to arrive late, but she understood that he had to help his mother, who
was grieving for Jerry. Carly greeted Claudia and Sonny, who were
the first to arrive for the benefit. Claudia offered to leave if Carly
would prefer, but Carly said it was a worthy cause and Claudia was
welcome. Edward arrived and grumbled that it was too bad that Carly and
Sonny had not grown consciences before Michael was shot.
Bragg's condition worsened. He recognized that something was wrong and
begged Leyla and Matt to get "it" out. Bragg's condition went
critical while Monica was checking on him. Matt wanted to operate. She
agreed that they could not wait for the x-rays. She told Matt that she
would meet him in OR because two surgeons might be needed. As Monica walked
away, Patrick walked in. Matt said they had to do surgery. Patrick said he
would take over, but Matt told him to go home because Matt could handle it
and, besides, Monica was assisting. Patrick reluctantly agreed.
Nikolas pressed the elevator button at GH, but all he could think about
was Emily and he flashed back to the first time that he realized he loved
her. His reverie was interrupted when the elevator doors opened and Nadine
was waiting for him. He was not very responsive when she hugged him and
told him how glad she was to see him. Nikolas and Nadine arrived at
the benefit and Edward immediately started flirting with Nadine. Sonny
complimented Carly, and Nikolas chatted with Claudia.
At the hotel, Jax told Olivia to go to the benefit and let Carly know that
he had to fly to Hong Kong to help his mother. He told Olivia to help
Carly in any way she could, because it was going to be a very difficult
evening for Carly.
Elsewhere in the lobby, Kate asked Lulu if she still wanted her job. When
Lulu tried to apologize for taking orders from Carly instead of Kate, Kate
said that Lulu could redeem herself by going to the benefit with Kate and
running interference with Carly and Claudia, so that Kate could speak to
Sonny alone.
Spinelli located three men who had rented cars in Port Charles, one of
whom, Earl Bragg, had been transported to GH after an accident.
Patrick was in the Emergency Room when Earl Bragg's x-rays were delivered.
He had just spotted the contents of Earl's abdomen when Epiphany answered
a call inquiring about Earl Bragg. Patrick grabbed the receiver,
identified himself and wanted to know why the caller was asking about Earl
Bragg. Seconds later he said, "Poison. Yes, I know where that
is." Patrick hung up, told Epiphany to call OR and stop them
from operating. Then he rushed off to OR. Epiphany dialed rapidly, but no
one in the operating room noticed the flashing phone light.
Monica, Matt, Elizabeth, and Leyla had Earl prepped when the blood
arrived. Patrick took the stairs as Matt made the first incision. Jasonand
Spinelli rushed to GH. In her new home, Robin became increasingly tense as
Emma cried forlornly. While making a call outside the GH boardroom,
Nikolas spotted Rebecca Shaw, an Emily look-alike. Carly lost some of her
smile when Kate arrived for the benefit. Johnny found Maxie after her car
accident. Patrick reached the OR as Matt opened Earl Bragg. Before Patrick
could warn them about the danger, blood splattered the surgical team. Then
Leyla, Matt, Monica, and Elizabeth crumpled to the floor.
January 29, 2009 - While Patrick banged on the observation window, hoping
to stop the surgery, pandemonium broke out in the Operating Room. As the
doctors and nurses collapsed, Patrick was powerless to do anything but
watch. Elizabeth made it to the door and tried to get out. She was
overcome before she could do more than open the door a crack. Patrick
rushed to the nearest phone to call for help. When he spotted Sam, he
asked her why no one had gotten through to the doctors in the OR. Sam said
that Epiphany had tried, but she had been unsuccessful. While Patrick
reached for the phone, Sam started to go to the aid of those who were
trapped in the OR. Patrick stopped her. He reminded her that she was just
as susceptible the poison in the room as everyone else.
Jason was in his car, racing to the hospital, while he updated Agent
Rayner about what he had discovered. Jason told Rayner that a man named
Earl Bragg had been taken to the hospital after a car crash. Jason was
positive that Bragg was the man that Rayner was looking for. Jason went on
to tell him that when he called Patrick to tell him that his patient could
be carrying poison, Patrick had yelled for someone to call the OR to stop
the surgery. Rayner was stunned. He realized that if they opened Bragg up,
the poison could become airborne and kill everyone.
At home, Robin was on the phone with the pediatrics department at General
Hospital. Robin wanted them to send over a nurse to watch Emma while Robin
went to the benefit function at the hospital. To Robin's frustration no
one was available to accommodate her demands. Robin ended the call then
threw a vase across the room while Emma cried inconsolably. Robin ignored
Emma's cries as she focused on cleaning up the mess that she had made.
When Emma stopped crying, Robin tried to convince herself that her
daughter was fine. She decided to check Emma but couldn't bring herself to
pick her baby up.
Johnny found Maxie, unconscious, in her car on the side of the road. He
scooped her up then carried her to a nearby abandoned garage. By the time
he deposited Maxie on the sofa, she was alert. Johnny explained that he
had found her after Maxie had nearly crashed into him. Maxie refused to
believe that she might have been responsible for the near accident. She
accused Johnny of driving recklessly and running her off the road. Johnny
ignored Maxie's accusation to focus on discovering what had upset Maxie.
With some prodding, Maxie admitted that she had been hurt after she had
seen Spinelli and Winifred huddled together at the Metro Court trading
secrets in their special language. Johnny chuckled and accused Maxie of
being jealous. Maxie denied it and deftly changed the subject to Johnny's
driving. She quickly guessed that he had been driving erratically because
Lulu had discovered that Johnny had lied.
To Johnny's annoyance, Maxie psychoanalyzed Lulu's behavior. Maxie thought
that Lulu couldn't get past the legend of her parents, Luke and Laura.
Maxie was convinced that Lulu had unreasonable expectations of romance,
which prompted Lulu to turn her relationship with Johnny into a saga
similar to Luke and Laura's. Maxie didn't think that Johnny could live up
to the pressure that Lulu put on him. Johnny thanked Maxie for her
insight, but insisted that he did not need it.
Later, Johnny returned to the front of the garage with two bottles of beer
that he had found in the back. Maxie accepted the offer of one bottle then
tried to steer the conversation back to Johnny's relationship with Lulu.
Johnny refused to discuss it further, so Maxie switched gears. She thanked
him for saving her life.
Anthony Zacchara was furious when he arrived at the benefit gala and
spotted Ric. He demanded to know how Claudia had learned that Anthony
wasn't paralyzed, that he had shot Kate on her wedding day, and the
details of his plans to pit Jason and Sonny against each other. Ric was
visibly nervous, but pretended that he had no idea how Claudia came by the
information. Anthony didn't buy Ric's lie. He demanded to know whom Ric
had talked to and what they knew. Tracy's timely arrival spared Ric from
having to answer Anthony's uncomfortable questions.
Tracy was disgusted when she saw Anthony at the benefit. Tracy wanted
Anthony take his dirty money and leave. Anthony declined.
At the hospital, Nikolas was shocked when he looked up, while on the
phone, and saw Rebecca Shaw. Thinking it was Emily, Nikolas ended the call
so that he could catch up to Rebecca. His efforts proved futile. Rebecca
managed to give him the slip, seemingly unaware that he was following her.
When Nikolas joined Nadine a short time later, she asked him where he had
been. Nikolas told her only part of the truth. He left seeing Emily's
doppelganger out of his explanation. Unfortunately, the incident continued
to haunt him. When he noticed someone wearing the same exact outfit as the
woman he had seen earlier, Nikolas stared long enough for Nadine to
notice. Nikolas was relieved when Nadine asked if he knew the woman. He
realized that she wasn't a figment of his imagination. Nikolas excused
himself, then approached the woman. It turned out to be someone other than
Rebecca.
Later, Nikolas returned to where he had seen Rebecca. With Lulu's help, he
set up the same situation. He wanted to make certain that he had seen the
woman clearly. He quickly confirmed that he had an unobstructed view of
her so he had not been mistaken by her appearance. Lulu was concerned. She
demanded to know what Nikolas was doing. Nikolas reluctantly told her that
he had seen someone who looked like Emily but had lost track of her. Lulu
was worried that Nikolas' tumor had returned. Nikolas was also concerned.
While Lulu hugged her brother, Rebecca appeared around a corner. She was
on her cell phone, but her eyes were glued to Nikolas and Lulu. Neither
sibling noticed her.
At Carly's request, Olivia approached her cousin and tried to reason with
Kate to leave the fundraiser. She explained that the benefit was in
Michael's honor and that seeing Kate upset Carly. Kate wasn't moved. She
insisted that she needed to speak with Sonny; it was a matter of life or
death. The more Olivia pleaded with Kate to leave, the harder Kate dug her
heels in. Things turned ugly quickly. Kate wanted to know why Olivia was
in Port Charles. She pointed out that for years Olivia had berated Kate
for leaving Bensonhurst, yet Olivia had done the very same thing the first
opportunity that she had. She asked Olivia why she continued to stay in
Port Charles since Kate's wedding to Sonny had been called off. Olivia
told Kate that she cared about her and had stayed because Kate had been
shot. Kate didn't believe her cousin. Kate suspected that the real reason
Olivia remained in Port Charles was because of Sonny. She told Olivia not
to worry, because she didn't have any plans to tell Sonny about Dante-yet.
Lulu's timely arrival gave Kate an opportunity to walk away from Olivia.
Olivia apologized to Carly for failing to persuade Kate to leave. She
explained that Kate had no idea what it was like to have a child and
therefore couldn't understand Carly's pain at seeing the woman she felt
was responsible for her son's condition. Carly understood and appreciated
Olivia's efforts on her behalf. While Kate stood nearby listening, Carly
told Olivia that she refused to let Kate ruin her night.
Claudia was flabbergasted that Kate had the audacity to attend the benefit
gala. When she asked Sonny why Kate was there, Sonny admitted that he
didn't know. He suspected that perhaps Kate wanted to speak with him.
When Carly saw Anthony being wheeled into the event, Sonny offered to have
Anthony escorted out. Carly said that if she could handle Ric and Kate
being present, she could put up with Anthony, as well. Before she walked
away, Carly made it clear to Anthony that she expected him to make a
substantial donation.
As soon as Jason arrived at the hospital, he tried to get answers from
Epiphany. Unfortunately, Epiphany had no idea what was going on. She told
Jason that she had tried to call the OR but had not been able to reach
anyone. Jason told Epiphany to expect a call from the FBI then dashed off
to the OR. When Jason caught up to Patrick, Patrick filled him in on what
had happened after he had last spoken to Jason. Jason called Rayner then
handed the phone to Patrick so that he could update the agent on what had
happened. Rayner told Patrick that it was imperative that no one left the
OR. The toxin was airborne and could contaminate anyone who came into
contact with it.
Spinelli arrived at the hospital shortly afterwards. Jason instructed him
to find out where the air ducts from the OR led. While Spinelli worked on
that, Patrick donned a biohazard suit so that he could enter the OR. The
first person he found was Elizabeth. He picked her up, carried her out and
gently laid her down on a gurney. Jason was rattled when he saw
Elizabeth's unconscious body. A quick check confirmed that she was alive
but in critical condition. Medical personnel rushed her off to the
Intensive Care Unit.
Patrick returned to the OR for the next victim, Matt. Matt refused to be
rescued before the others. Jason received a second blow when Patrick
carried Monica out. She was in the same condition as Elizabeth. Other than
the patient, Earl Bragg, the only other casualty was Andy Archer, the
anesthesiologist.
Later, Jason, Sam, and Spinelli gathered in the hospital's lobby. Sam
offered to help while Jason checked Elizabeth and Monica, but Jason
declined. He didn't think that he could help them by standing at their
bedside. Patrick soon joined them bearing grim news. Only one sphere, out
of five, of biotoxin, had been found inside Earl Bragg's body. The x-ray
had clearly shown that there had been five just before the surgery. When
Rayner learned about the four missing spheres, he ordered Patrick to
return to the OR to find them. Meanwhile, Spinelli had dire news. It
seemed that one of the air ducts in the OR led to the room where the
benefit was being held.
Kate tried to talk to Sonny but she had difficulty speaking. Before Sonny
realized that something was wrong, Kate collapsed.
In the OR, the machines continued to hiss while one of the instrument
panels displayed unstable readings.
January 30, 2009 - A strange man went behind the bar at the Haunted Star
and started to grab hoards of money. Luke grabbed his shotgun and
surprised the would-be robber. The man asked Luke if he was a gambling
man. He thought Luke should get a towel before he fired the shotgun, and
he explained to Luke that death was messy. Luke put the shotgun down after
the robber put the money back on top of the bar. The two men started to
talk about the storm and the gambling business until the robber took a
brazen move and said Luke needed a bartender. Luke said he liked Naked
Nymphs, which brought a smile and a chuckle from the would-be robber. Luke
explained that a Naked Nymph was a drink, and he was testing the man by
asking him to pour one for Luke to drink.
Luke tested the young man with various different drinks, and through the
process, learned that the man's name was Ethan and he was from Australia.
Ethan asked who Luke was, and Luke replied with his full name. Luke
thought Ethan already knew who he was, though. Ethan assured him that he
had no idea who Luke was besides the owner of the gambling establishment.
Luke continued to drink but started getting sleeping and couldn't stop
yawning. It wasn't long before Luke collapsed, and it was obvious Ethan
had drugged Luke. He had just finished telling Ethan to recognize
opportunity when it knocked, and Ethan couldn't agree more. Ethan started
to pack up the money again, but Luke was smarter than Ethan anticipated.
He was soon up on his feet with the gun aimed at Ethan, saying they were
right back where they had started.
Patrick, Jason, and Spinelli told Agent Rayner that the dangerous toxins
were being transmitted through vents into the boardroom where a charity
event was taking place. Agent Rayner insisted they seal off the boardroom
and not allow anyone in or out. Patrick handed the phone back to Spinelli,
and the FBI agent told the computer genius that Spinelli would need to
hack into the hospital's mainframe to shut down the ventilation system.
Although Spinelli was doing as he was told, he wouldn't admit what he was
doing to Agent Rayner. Sam overheard Agent Rayner on speakerphone tell
Spinelli that if he wouldn't cooperate, people would die. Sam grabbed the
phone from Spinelli and explained that no one wanted to admit anything
that could be used against them later on. Agent Rayner assured them that
he wasn't concerned with prosecution at that time. Sam wanted to know
exactly what they were dealing with, so the FBI agent explained that the
toxin was a poison and not a virus. It wasn't contagious from person to
person, but breathing even a little bit could be fatal.
Meanwhile, Kate collapsed in the boardroom after trying to speak with
Sonny. Claudia immediately thought Kate was faking it, but Nadine examined
the sick patient and realized Kate was in respiratory distress. Carly
tried to call for help, but couldn't get anyone on the phone. When she
couldn't get the doors open to go get help, she realized the doors were
locked. Jason stood on the other side of the doors and told Carly that a
bio-toxin had been released into the air and everyone was being
quarantined. Everyone, even Carly, was concerned about Kate. Jason said
they would get all of them out as quickly as possible, and he assured them
he would get medical help for Kate as soon as he could. Trevor was frantic
and tried to help Kate, but there was little he could do to help his
former lover.
Before too long, Jason had arranged for a medic in a biohazard suit to
come rescue Kate so medical professionals could treat her. Only Kate would
be carried out, though, and everyone else had to remain in the boardroom.
After Kate was gone, the rest of the group quickly found makeshift
coverings for the vents to try to prevent any further toxins from entering
the boardroom. Sonny was mad at Claudia for thinking Kate was faking her
illness. As the agitation increased, Anthony started laughing and asked
everyone if they would have ever thought the people around them would be
the people they would die with.
In the boardroom, everyone tried not to panic and tried to make the best
of the situation. Tracy was worried about her father, but Edward could
only concentrate on her bad grammar. Trevor, meanwhile, started to panic
and beat on the door. He threatened to sue everyone involved with keeping
them in a toxic boardroom. Trevor continued to get more and more agitated,
and Anthony seemed to enjoy Trevor's distress. Suddenly, Trevor collapsed
and the group started banging on the door yelling for more help. Once a
medical team evacuated Trevor, Sonny tried to reassure Carly that she
would be okay. Claudia wasn't happy about their conversation, regardless
of what was said. She went over to Sonny once he was alone and said she
had something important to tell him. Sonny realized Claudia knew who shot
Kate, but before Claudia could reveal anything, she also collapsed.
Patrick realized he needed to get into the operating room and shut off the
vents so the toxins wouldn't spread any further. Sam tried to convince him
to allow her to do it, and she reminded him that he had a family at home
that needed him. Patrick was determined to shut off the vents himself,
though. He put the biohazard suit back on and entered the quarantined
operating room, quickly covering up the vents. He approached the patient
and started looking around inside the wound to try to find the toxic
balls. Once his task was complete, Patrick went back to the waiting area
and called Agent Rayner to tell him he found all the toxic balls. One had
been cut open from the surgery, but the others were severely compromised
from the patient's stomach acid. It would be up to the FBI to retrieve
them without endangering more lives.
Unaware of the toxic situation, Lulu reminded Nikolas that he had surgery
to remove the tumor that had caused him to see Emily's ghost. There was no
way he would have seen Emily. Nikolas didn't need that reminder, but he
didn't have any other explanation as to why he had seen someone resembling
Emily in the corridors earlier. Lulu and Nikolas walked around the corner
and saw Spinelli and Sam in the waiting area. They revealed to the brother
and sister duo the news about the deadly toxin that had been released. It
had spread to the boardroom where the charity event was taking place. Lulu
and Nikolas realized the full extent of what was happening, and they
immediately rushed off towards the boardroom.
Nikolas and Lulu discovered the boardroom had been quarantined and there
was nothing they could do to help the hostages. They went back to the
waiting area and discussed the situation with Sam, Spinelli, and Patrick.
Lulu's chief concern was that the toxin had been released at some extent
into the main hospital before it was contained in the operating room. The
FBI wanted to keep things quiet, so they were making no formal
announcement. They all seemed to think that putting the entire hospital
under quarantine would be the safest bet, though. Suddenly, Patrick looked
over and saw a nurse collapse. Epiphany walked over and asked what was
going on in her hospital. The team caught her up to speed while Patrick
called and spoke with Agent Rayner. The entire hospital needed to be
quarantined, and finally the FBI agreed with that decision. Jason rushed
to the doors to lock everyone in as Patrick made the announcement. It
wasn't long before Epiphany was at the door, trying to reassure patients
and get them back in their beds.
Nikolas saw Jason coming from the boardroom area and asked for a status
update. Nikolas learned that Kate had been evacuated, so he wanted Jason
to pull some strings and get Nadine out of the boardroom. Jason said they
were doing the best they could do. Nikolas started to freak out until
Jason slammed him up against the wall and asked what was going on. Nikolas
admitted he had left Nadine in the ballroom so he could chase a fantasy.
Jason asked if the fantasy had anything to do with Emily, and Nikolas
admitted that it did. He didn't feel like going into it then, though.
Unknown to everyone at the hospital, someone had entered the quarantined
operating room and was trying to obtain the dangerous toxic balls from the
deceased patient, Earl Braggs.
Robin tried to give Emma her bottle, but the little girl wasn't interested
in eating. Robin told her daughter she didn't want to pick her up, because
Emma would just cry anyway. Robin spoke out loud and said she felt like
Emma knew that her mother didn't know what she was doing. Robin was saved
when she heard the doorbell ring. Mac was there to check on Robin and the
new house. For some reason, Robin thought that was endearing coming from
her Uncle Mac and not insulting as she felt with Patrick. Emma started to
cry, and Robin told her uncle that the little girl was just getting up.
Mac asked if he could get some baby time, and Robin was thrilled to have
Mac there to take care of Emma. It wasn't long before Emma had taken her
bottle and gone back to sleep. Mac realized there was something wrong with
his niece and asked what was going on.
Robin said she was upset because her babysitter had backed out at the last
moment, so Robin wasn't able to go to the benefit for Michael Corinthos.
Robin asked if her uncle would mind staying and watching Emma so Robin
could go to the benefit. Mac said he would love to help out, but he didn't
want Robin going out due to the dangerous, snowy night. There was too much
risk going out in a blizzard like that. Robin assured him her van was safe
and equipped for their weather. Mac finally agreed to watch Emma, but just
as Robin buttoned her coat to leave, Mac's phone rang. It was Agent Rayner
with the FBI. Mac had to get to the station as quickly as possible. Robin
thanked Mac for his efforts to babysit Emma but said she understood he
couldn't stay. Once Mac rushed off, Robin sighed and realized it was just
her and Emma again.
February 2, 2009 - On the Haunted Star, Luke got the drop on Ethan Lovett,
the new Aussie in town. Ethan had his hands on Luke's stash and Luke had
his fingers on the trigger of a shotgun. Ethan wanted to know if Luke was
going to turn him in, but Luke said he did not have anything to do with
the police. What Luke wanted was answers, but he did not get many. Luke
recognized Ethan as a kindred spirit when they played a few hands of cards
and simultaneously caught each other with an ace up the sleeve. Luke
offered Ethan a job as the house shill, but Ethan said no thanks. Luke
warned Ethan to stay away from the Haunted Star and to refrain from
fleecing the customers unless Luke got a cut.
Things were tense in the General Hospital boardroom. Claudia tried to warn
Sonny about Anthony's plot against him, but collapsed before she could. As
she was wheeled out to ICU, Anthony let Ric know he was very displeased
because Ric had told Claudia his plans. He told Ric that if Claudia
spilled the beans to Sonny about Kate's shooting at Anthony's hands, then
Ric would pay the price for both sets of loose lips. Anthony pretended
that he was worried about Claudia's condition, but Sonny told Anthony that
he knew that Anthony was more worried about what Claudia had told him than
he was about Claudia.
Sam and Jason stood in the hospital lobby waiting for help to arrive when
Jax tapped on the window. Jax tried to get in the hospital, but Jason and
Sam explained that the FBI had quarantined it. Jax asked about Carly and
learned about the crisis in the boardroom.
A person dressed in a biohazard suit entered the Operating Room and
removed one of the spheres containing the deadly biotoxin.
Johnny and Maxie were trapped in an old abandoned garage. They bonded as
they drank beer and discussed their dreams. Maxie complained about the
rundown garage, but Johnny saw it as an opportunity to create a special
place for custom car owners to take their special vehicles. Johnny shared
his desire to own and operate a custom car repair service. Maxie
encouraged his dreams and shared her own. They realized that they had a
lot more in common than they thought, especially when Maxie voiced her
fear of ruining her relationship to Spinelli. Johnny acknowledged the same
fears about his relationship with Lulu.
Mac was on the phone trying to get answers from the Feds when Lucky walked
in. Mac brought Lucky up to speed on the situation at GH and told him that
Elizabeth was in ICU in critical condition. Jax arrived and offered all
his resources to help evacuate the hospital. Mac said thanks and Lucky
rushed off to GH.
Elizabeth woke up in ICU and Epiphany was standing by. Epiphany outlined
what had happened. Elizabeth tried to talk, but Epiphany told her to keep
the breathing mask on and to go back to sleep. Jason waited outside the
room. Epiphany came out and told him that Elizabeth's condition was
critical.
Ric Nadine, Tracy, and Edward waited with Sonny, Anthony, and Carly in the
boardroom. Tracy blamed everything on Carly, and Edward blamed Sonny.
Anthony thought he should be the next to be evacuated from the room
because he was in a wheelchair. The doctors agreed, and Anthony was the
next to leave.
Patrick checked on Matt and Leyla, who was still unconscious. Matt was
awake, so Patrick told him what had happened. Matt felt responsible
because it was "his" surgical team. Patrick said that by Matt's
reasoning, Patrick would be at fault, because originally, Patrick, not
Matt, was supposed to perform the surgery. Patrick told Matt that as his
brother and his doctor, Patrick would make sure that he pulled through.
Lulu, Spinelli, and Sam were standing around in the lobby trying to figure
out what more they could do to help when Lucky came in. Both Lulu and Sam
were astounded that he had broken the quarantine to get to Elizabeth.
Jason passed Claudia as she was being wheeled to ICU. She tried to warn
him about Anthony's plans, but fainted before she could tell him that
Anthony had shot Kate.
Sonny and Carly were the only ones left in the boardroom after Ric left
for decontamination. Sonny told Carly that she was rock-steady in a crisis
and that was one of the things he admired about her. Before he could say
more, the phone rang. It was Jax for Carly. He told her that he had come
back, because he did not want to let her down again. Carly was thrilled.
Even though Jax had to wait outside the hospital, Carly told him that it
was enough that he was there for her.
When Jason joined Sam, Spinelli, Lucky, and Lulu, Lucky immediately
demanded to know where Elizabeth was. As soon as Jason told him that she
was in ICU, Lucky left to see her. Jason and Sam speculated that Earl
Bragg might have had an accomplice, and decided to check that the biotoxin
spheres were still in OR where Patrick had left them.
Lulu and Spinelli had speculations of their own and surmised that Jason
and Sam's real concern was Lucky's obvious love and devotion for
Elizabeth.
Elizabeth woke up when Lucky entered her room. She told him that he should
be there, but he said there was no place else he belonged, except by her
side. He told her that he would not leave her alone, and that together
they would beat the poison.
Leyla woke up, but Patrick told her to rest. She took off her mask and
told Patrick that she was really glad that he was happy, and she wished
him the best, especially since she had found her own happiness. Patrick
thanked her and put the breathing mask back over her mouth and nose. A few
moments later, Leyla coughed, then coded. Patrick called for a crash cart
and started doing CPR, while Matt struggled to get out of bed to help.
After finishing his decontamination, Anthony found out that Claudia was in
ICU 2. When the nurse left him alone, he wheeled himself to Claudia's
room. Even though Claudia was unconscious, Anthony explained that he was
going to kill her because business was more important than family. He told
her that things might have been different if she had come to him and told
him that Ric had betrayed him, but Claudia had gone to Sonny instead.
Jason and Sam examined the OR through the viewing window. Jason noticed
that one of the remaining four spheres was missing. Sam declared that the
situation had just gotten a whole lot worse.
Biotoxin DVD #3 February 3-10,
2009: 6 complete episodes, no commercials
February 3,
2009 - Sam discovered that one of the toxic spheres was missing from the
operating room. She found Spinelli in the waiting area and told him the
latest news. Jason was looking for a biohazard suit so he could enter the
operating room. Spinelli and Sam decided they needed to inform the FBI of
the situation. Spinelli dialed the phone and Winifred answered. Spinelli
quickly filled her in on the situation and asked if the FBI had any
information about any possible accomplices Earl Bragg could have been
working with.
Anthony spoke to an unconscious Claudia in her hospital room. He wasn't
about to let her recover and tell everyone how he had shot Kate. Anthony
prepared to perforate Claudia's oxygen tube, but Sonny walked in and asked
what Anthony was doing. Sonny wasn't fooled when Anthony acted like father
of the year to Claudia. Anthony tried to convince Sonny to go find Kate
and leave Anthony alone with his daughter. Sonny wanted to stay with his
wife until she recovered. Claudia had been brave enough to block off the
vents in the boardroom, so Sonny felt he owed it to Claudia to sit with
her and protect her from Anthony. Claudia's father decided it was a battle
not worth fighting, so he left Sonny alone with Claudia. Nadine came in to
change Claudia's IV and asked Sonny if he could step out of the room
briefly. Once Sonny was gone, Nadine realized she needed additional
supplies and also left the room. Anthony took advantage of the situation
and wheeled himself
into Claudia's hospital room and shut the door. Anthony stood up, grabbed
a pillow, and said he was going to have to make Claudia's death quick.
Suddenly, Trevor walked in and found Anthony standing over Claudia,
preparing to suffocate his daughter. Trevor was shocked, but Anthony was
shocked even more. Everyone else who had collapsed from the toxins was
still unconscious. Anthony couldn't figure out how Trevor had healed so
quickly. Trevor revealed that he had faked the illness just to get out of
the boardroom. He wasn't as good of an actor as Anthony apparently was,
though. Anthony tried to change the subject and said he needed Trevor's
help dealing with his lying bitch of a daughter. Meanwhile, Claudia was
waking up and desperately trying to use the call button for a nurse.
Trevor pushed Anthony back into his wheelchair just as Nadine returned to
the room. Nadine asked both men to leave so she could examine Claudia. The
first thing Claudia did was ask for her husband, and Sonny was walking in
just at that moment.
Ethan walked into a bar and found his girlfriend sitting on Luke's lap.
Luke had offered the girl ten dollars to sit on his lap. Ethan offered his
girlfriend twenty dollars to get off Luke's lap. Once the girl was gone,
Luke and Ethan talked about a potential business deal. They both
recognized how much alike they were. Luke was concerned with the money
Ethan stole from him, though. Ethan finally gave most of the money back,
but Luke wasn't content until he received it all back. Ethan didn't have
the missing money and asked for some empathy. He promised he would pay
Luke back. Ethan didn't think Luke needed the money, since he owned his
own casino, married a rich woman, and obviously didn't have his own
children. Luke laughed at his last comment.
In the ICU, Leyla's heart stopped and Patrick immediately started
administering CPR. Other nurses, including Epiphany, came into the room to
assist. They tried multiple times to shock Leyla's heart, but finally
Patrick had to admit defeat, and declared Leyla dead.
Back at the nurse's station, Epiphany showed a picture of a young man to
Patrick. Leyla had asked Epiphany to retrieve it from her locker. The
picture was of Leyla's fiancé. Leyla had intended to marry the man during
the upcoming summer. Later, the very man in the picture approached
Patrick. He acknowledged there was a crisis going on. Patrick stopped the
man from continuing when he realized the man was Leyla's fiancé. The man
said he had paged Leyla, but she hadn't called him back yet. Patrick had
the unfortunate task of telling the man that Leyla had passed away only
moments before. Sam walked over and helped the man to a private sitting
area so he could grieve. Then, she walked back to speak with Patrick and
Sonny about the toxins. Sonny wanted an update on what was going on, and
Sam revealed to both men that one of the toxic spheres from the operating
room was missing. Patrick told them that the outer shell of the spheres
had been severely
compromised. More people could die.
Nikolas finally tracked down Nadine and apologized for leaving her in the
boardroom. Nadine wasn't bothered by the crisis, though. She had been
scrubbed down and was feeling no ill effects from the poison. Rebecca,
Emily's look-a-like, walked past as Nikolas and Nadine talked. Nadine
noticed Nikolas was distracted and asked if he was okay. He lied and said
he had just been worried about her.
Later, Lulu found Nikolas in the halls of the hospital and asked what was
going on. Nikolas explained that he had seen a girl looking exactly like
Emily. Lulu didn't seem upset at first and said Nikolas must have just
seen her from a distance. Besides, other people would have said something.
Emily was an employee of the hospital when she was alive, so other
co-workers would surely notice if someone resembling her were roaming the
halls. Nikolas noticed Lulu was distracted, and Lulu revealed that she and
Johnny had a terrible fight. Nikolas didn't think Lulu should worry too
much yet, though. The storm was causing some problems with cell phone
signals, so Johnny might just be unable to call.
Olivia sat by Kate's bedside and filled her cousin in on the details from
the evening once Kate awoke. Olivia was in tears over the thought of
something happening to Kate, and wanted Kate to keep the oxygen mask on
and rest. Kate was concerned about the DVD from her purse, though. She
wanted Olivia to go back to the boardroom and retrieve Kate's purse.
Olivia explained that the boardroom was off-limits, but Kate was insistent
that the purse be obtained. The DVD contained information that would mean
the difference between life and death. Kate wouldn't reveal what was on
the DVD, though. Finally, Olivia agreed to try to get the purse. Olivia
left Kate's room and ran into Sonny in the hall. He asked how Kate was
doing, and Olivia said Kate was getting back to her normal self by bossing
people around already. Sonny wasn't happy, because, once again, Kate was
injured while Sonny got off scot-free. Olivia went back into Kate's room
after trying to locate Kate's purse from the boardroom. She'd had no luck.
Everything from the boardroom had been boxed up to be burned later. Kate
was very distraught when Olivia told her the news. She had to get her
hands on that DVD.
Maxie and Johnny bonded in the garage over their past and how Spinelli and
Lulu thought Maxie and Johnny were perfect. Spinelli always acted as if
Maxie could do no wrong, and Johnny felt Lulu acted the same way. Maxie
said everyone in her life seemed to leave her, either by choice or by
dying. She was just sure that she would do something to cause Spinelli to
leave her. Johnny laughed and asked if she meant something like sleep with
him, Johnny. Maxie said yes, that was just the sort of thing Maxie would
do to ruin her friendship with Spinelli. Suddenly, both Maxie and Johnny
stopped talking and sat in awkward silence. They talked about the lives
they would ruin if they slept together. Finally, both Maxie and Johnny
decided to do what felt good and pay the price later.
Robin stood over Emma's crib and wondered aloud why the little girl was
crying. Robin told her daughter she loved her but didn't know what to do
to make her happy. She thought maybe Emma wasn't feeling well and put her
hand to Emma's forehead. Robin realized Emma was burning up with fever.
Initially, Robin wasn't concerned. She was going to give Emma medicine to
bring down the fever and everything would be okay. However, once Robin
took her little girl's temperature, she realized the fever was too high
for simple medication. She bundled Emma up and prepared to make the trip
to the hospital after leaving a voicemail for Patrick. Patrick talked to
Spinelli and Sam about Earl Bragg and the toxins. Suddenly, he decided to
check his voicemail, since he hadn't heard from Robin. He listened to the
message about Emma having a fever, and Patrick told Spinelli and Sam that
Robin was headed to General Hospital.
As soon as Claudia and Sonny were alone in her hospital room, she told him
that her father had just tried to kill her so she wouldn't tell Sonny her
secret. Claudia admitted that her father wasn't paralyzed and he had been
the one who shot Kate on the day of Kate and Sonny's wedding.
February 4, 2009 - At General Hospital, the biotoxin crisis continued.
Patrick was in the Emergency Room with Epiphany. He was trying to reach
Robin. Epiphany was organizing the workforce. Spinelli, Jason, and Sam
were also there trying to figure out who took the biotoxin from the
Operating Room.
Despite Epiphany's assurances to Patrick that Robin was a doctor and would
know what to do for Emma, Patrick became frustrated when he could not
contact Robin. Jason took Patrick aside and told him to focus. Sam got on
the horn to Mac and he said he would send a car out to Robin's house.
Patrick was momentarily mollified and returned his attention to the
crisis. As Emma's tears continued, Robin made several wrong turns and got
lost in the blizzard. Before she could find her way again, the car stalled
and would not restart. When Emma's cries got louder, Robin decided to look
for a nearby house. Robin bundled Emma up, and then abandoned the car.
Johnny and Maxie kissed each other as passionately as they could, but
neither really wanted to have sex with the other. Johnny was the first to
halt the action, but Maxie was in complete agreement. Both admitted that
having sex together would wreck their respective relationships to Lulu and
Spinelli. Neither was sure that they were ready for such an irrevocable
action. Maxie worried that she would eventually lose Spinelli. She thought
it would be better to end her relationship on her timetable rather than
have Spinelli walk out later. On the other hand, she reasoned that having
sex with Johnny would hurt Spinelli a lot more than she wanted. She also
did not want to hurt Lulu. She said it was because she did not want to
break in a new roommate. Johnny wanted to know why Maxie could not admit
that she was really a good and caring person. Maxie listed the mean things
she had done to other people, but Johnny pointed out the good. Maxie
thanked Johnnie, and
advised him to be honest with Lulu, rather than wait for the truth to come
out, which, Maxie said, it always did. Johnny acknowledged the honesty of
Maxie's advice, but decided to keep mum about his dark secret for a while
longer.
Lulu was on pins and needles because Johnny was not responding to her
calls. She imagined that all kinds of terrible things had happened. Just
as she was about to attempt to escape quarantine to look for him, Carly
found her and told Lulu just how serious the situation was. She told Lulu
that even if she could dodge the police snipers, she was jeopardizing many
more lives if she left the hospital and let the biotoxin escape.
Carly encouraged Lulu to throw herself into hospital work. Carly told her
it would help keep her mind off Johnny. Carly dragged a reluctant Lulu off
to find Epiphany.
Elizabeth woke up and found Lucky at her bedside. Lucky was thrilled that
she was awake and talking. They reminisced about happy memories from their
life together. Lucky vowed his devotion to Elizabeth and she responded.
Jason observed their love for each other as he watched from outside.
Jax was in the Port Charles Police Department mobile command post trying
to reach one of his state's senators when Agent Rayner walked in. He
brought Jax up to speed on the biotoxin and the missing sphere. He warned
Jax that anyone trying to break out of quarantine would be shot. Jax was
alone when Alexis entered the command post. She wanted to go after Equinox
Corporation, which had violated several laws when the biotoxin crossed
state lines. Jax said that he had returned to Port Charles because he did
not want to let Carly down again. He told Alexis that even though he had
been headed for Hong Kong, he had turned his plane around and had been
fortunate to be the last to land before the airport closed.
Edward was at Monica's bedside when Tracy walked in and started berating
him. Their loud argument appeared to wake Monica, who asked them to keep
it down. Edward was overjoyed and quickly told her about the poison and
the quarantine.
Jason stopped in to check on Monica. She wanted to know if he had anything
to do with the poison. He assured her that he was not involved and that he
would never do anything that would cause harm to innocents. Monica was
relieved to hear it, and proud when Jason said that he was working with
the FBI to resolve the situation.
Spinelli and Sam watched surveillance tapes hoping to get a clue as to who
might have taken the sphere of biotoxin. Spinelli worried about Maxie, but
Sam told him to have faith. Sam said that Maxie was resourceful and would
be okay. Sam also told Spinelli that he reminded her of her brother.
Spinelli was flattered. Sam decided that Spinelli needed an orange soda
and he agreed. Sam went in search of vending machines while Spinelli
continued to scan the surveillance tapes.
Carly and Lulu found Epiphany in the hall with Patrick. Epiphany was
delighted to have help and gave Lulu enough work to keep her very busy.
Carly planned to help, but Patrick waylaid her before she could follow
Lulu and Epiphany. Patrick told Carly about the missing sphere of
biotoxin. He wanted to know if anyone in the boardroom might have taken
it. Carly did not have any answers, but promised to keep an eye out for
anything suspicious. Back at the nurses' station, Patrick was on the
phone with Agent Rayner, who was demanding that Patrick find the missing
sphere. Patrick demanded that someone find his missing wife and child
before he slammed down the phone.
Elizabeth and Lucky continued their heartfelt stroll down memory lane. Sam
watched them bond through the observation window. Their deep and abiding
love for one another was obvious. When Lucky told Elizabeth to rest, he
also told her that he would be there when she woke up. Elizabeth was all
smiles when she said that she knew that he would.
Jason found Carly and told her how much he appreciated that she had been
able to keep everyone from panicking when they had been trapped in the
boardroom. She said that she was glad to help.
Lulu wheeled her snack cart up to Spinelli and offered him an orange soda.
They commiserated with each other about the missing Maxie and Johnny.
Carly joined them. When the phone rang, Spinelli rushed over, hoping it
was word about Maxie. It was Jax for Carly.
Jax told Carly that he was looking for a way in, but she told him it was
too dangerous inside. She said she was very glad that he was outside
waiting for her and that he was there for Morgan.
Johnny decided that he had to find Lulu and apologize. He started looking
for tire chains so that he could drive to the hospital. Maxie said that
she had always known that Lulu loved Johnny, but she had realized that
Johnny loved Lulu. Before leaving the garage, Johnny and Maxie agreed to
forget what had almost happened between them.
Jason and Sam stopped a deliveryman from breaking through the front door
and leaving the hospital. When they explained the situation and said that
the FBI would shoot anyone who tried to exit, the man pulled a gun and
held it on Jason. He said he intended to use Jason as a hostage to get
out. He told Sam that he would shoot Jason unless she smashed through the
door. Sam pulled a gun of her own, but hesitated to shoot. Despite Jason's
order for her to fire, Sam tried to talk the deliveryman into
surrendering. Jason told Sam to kill the guy or he would. When it seemed
that Sam would not shoot, Jason took action and grabbed the gun. Just as
he moved, Sam fired. She shot Jason, who was incredulous when he cried,
"You shot me!"
Emma's carryall became too heavy for Robin to handle, so she tucked Emma
under her coat and left it. Robin was still lost as she and Emma began to
trudge through the knee-deep snow. Tracy confronted Patrick in the hallway
and started lambasting him. She collapsed before finishing her tirade.
February 5, 2009 - Robin had difficulty trekking through the woods, with
Emma in her arms, as she tried to search for help in the blizzard.
Johnny and Maxie drove into town, after leaving the abandoned garage.
Johnny wanted to know where Maxie wanted to be dropped off. When Maxie
suggested the apartment, Johnny told her that he didn't think it would be
a good idea. Maxie realized that he was probably right; it would be a
disaster for them to be alone, in the apartment, after their brief, but
passionate, encounter. Maxie admitted that she felt guilty even though
they had only shared two kisses. She focused on the fact that they didn't
have sex, but it didn't seem to help much. Johnny tried to ease Maxie's
conscience by taking full responsibility for the kisses, but Maxie
wouldn't let him. She told him that they were equally responsible for what
had happened in the garage. She took comfort in reminding Johnny, and
herself, that they were determined not to act on their mutual attraction
for each other.
As they were driving, Maxie and Johnny spotted a stranded minivan on the
side of the road. They pulled over to see if the driver needed help. As
soon as Maxie approached the van, she realized that it was Robin's
vehicle. Worried that something had happened to her cousin, Maxie set out
to search for Robin. Johnny thought it was a bad idea because of the heavy
snowfall. He offered to look for Robin himself if Maxie agreed to stay
behind, but Maxie stubbornly refused. Realizing that it was pointless to
argue, Johnny led the way into the woods. Their search proved difficult.
At one point, Johnny decided that they should return to their car. He
feared for their own welfare as the storm continued to bear down on them.
Maxie wouldn't give up. She was prepared to forge ahead without Johnny
when she suddenly spotted something in the snow. Johnny went to check.
Their hopes plunged when Johnny uncovered Emma's empty carrier. Fueled by
fear, Maxie and Johnny searched the nearby area until they stumbled on
Robin. She had collapsed in the snow. When Maxie helped Robin to sit up,
Emma was nowhere to be seen. Maxie asked her cousin where Emma was, but
Robin seemed confused. She didn't seem to know where Emma was.
At General Hospital, Jason couldn't believe that Sam had shot him in the
arm. Sam defended herself; she told Jason that she had aimed for the
deliveryman's shoulder but unfortunately Jason had jumped in the path of
the bullet at the last moment. Meanwhile, the deliveryman took off,
unnoticed, while Jason and Sam continued to argue about whether or not Sam
could properly shoot a gun. Eventually, Jason made his way to an exam room
where Epiphany patched him up. When Sam walked into the room to check on
Jason, Epiphany asked her to keep Jason and his mobster cohorts out of
further trouble. Shortly after Epiphany left, Spinelli barged in. He was
agitated because of something that he had learned about Equinox
Corporation.
Nikolas stopped by Elizabeth's room to check on her. When he saw Lucky
standing in the room, Lucky explained how he came to be in the hospital.
They then began making plans for small get-together after the crisis had
passed. They decided to celebrate by going to Kelly's after it was
rebuilt. They wanted to have a private party with just the three of them.
Lucky was a little surprised; he wondered why Nikolas had not included
Nadine on the guest list. Nikolas said their small parties at Kelly's were
something that they had shared with Emily. He didn't want Nadine to feel
pressured by that. As Nikolas, Lucky, and Elizabeth discussed their party
plans, Rebecca Shaw was seen standing outside Elizabeth's room as she
talked to a nurse. No one inside the room noticed her. Moments before
Nikolas turned to leave, Rebecca stepped away. She had rounded the corner
just as Nikolas walked out of the room. Sometime later, Nikolas returned
to Elizabeth's room. He wanted to give his brother a break from his
bedside vigil. Lucky declined the offer. He was content to sit and stare
at Elizabeth while she slept. Lucky found comfort in memorizing
Elizabeth's face. Nikolas understood his brother's desire. He admitted he
felt the same way about pictures of Emily, and had even imagined that he
had seen her earlier that day.
Patrick was on hand when Tracy collapsed, the latest victim of the deadly
toxin. With Carly's assistance, help arrived to whisk Tracy off to ICU.
Afterwards, Carly went to find Edward. She located him in one of the
hospital's waiting areas. She sat down next to him then gently broke the
news about Tracy. The news upset Edward greatly. He admitted that he was
afraid. He had lost Lila, Justice, Alan, Emily, and Michael, and had
nearly lost Monica. He couldn't take losing his last remaining child,
Tracy.
Edward made his way to Tracy's room. He sat down and began talking to his
daughter as she rested. He told her that he loved her and was proud of
her. Tracy stirred upon hearing her father's touching words. She warned
him that he was going to make her sick. Edward chuckled, comforted by
Tracy's spunk.
Patrick updated Agent Rayner on the situation at the hospital. Patrick was
frustrated with Rayner's inability to provide crucial information, which
might help Patrick treat the critically ill patients felled by the
biotoxin. Rayner was sympathetic, but his hands were tied. He insisted
that his FBI superiors had stymied all his efforts to gather medical
information to help Patrick. The only thing that Rayner could do to help
the hospital was to arrange to have the biotoxin spheres removed. When
Patrick ended the call, Jason, Sam, and Spinelli asked for an update. When
Spinelli learned that the FBI would arrive with a team to extract the
biotoxin, he became upset. He was convinced that the Equinox Corporation
was behind everything. Spinelli begged Patrick to keep the biotoxin from
falling into Equinox's hands. Patrick told Spinelli that he didn't have
the authority to stop the FBI from entering the hospital. He reminded
Spinelli that his priority was treating the patients who had been affected
by the deadly poison. Spinelli wasn't satisfied with Patrick's answer, so
he appealed to Jason for help. Jason told Spinelli that Patrick had made
his decision; he warned Spinelli to stay out the FBI's way.
As Patrick and Jason walked away, Sam lingered behind to talk to Spinelli.
She beseeched Spinelli to respect Jason's wishes, but Spinelli was
undeterred. Later, when Winifred arrived with a team to extract the
biotoxin, Spinelli managed to obtain a HAZMAT suit. He snuck into the
operating room as Winifred instructed the team to collect the spheres. She
was stunned when she looked up and immediately recognized Spinelli.
Claudia spilled all Anthony's secrets to Sonny. She told him that Anthony
had faked his paralysis and shot Kate so that Sonny would be forced to
turn to Anthony for help. Sonny wanted to know what Anthony stood to gain
by his nefarious deeds. Claudia explained that Anthony's goal had been to
drive a wedge between Sonny and Jason until Sonny was forced to kill
Jason. Once Sonny eliminated Jason as a threat, Claudia said that Anthony
intended to kill Sonny. Anthony's objective had been to seize complete
control of the criminal organization in Port Charles by eliminating all
competition.
Sonny asked Claudia how long she had known of her father's role in Kate's
shooting. Claudia cleverly lied. She told him that she suspected for some
time, but managed to figure it out earlier that day when she discovered
that her father had faked his paralysis. Claudia believed that Anthony
needed to be stopped. While Claudia was alone in her room, with her back
to the door, Anthony made his way to his daughter's bedside. Claudia
didn't turn around when Anthony started in with his usual diatribe.
However, Sonny walked into the room just in time to hear Anthony talk
about the need for Claudia to disappear once and for all. Sonny demanded
to have a private word with Anthony in another room. As soon as Anthony
left, Claudia turned around. She and Sonny shared a long glance before
Sonny followed Anthony down the hall. At Claudia's request, Carly stopped
by her room. Carly was surprised when Claudia told her that Sonny intended
to kill Anthony. Claudia wanted Carly to stop Sonny; she didn't want Sonny
going to jail for murdering Anthony.
In another room at the hospital, Sonny confronted Anthony about shooting
Kate, manipulating a mob war with Jason, and faking his paralysis. Anthony
immediately began accusing Claudia of lying. He claimed that Claudia
wanted Sonny to do the dirty work for her by killing her father. Sonny
asked Anthony what Claudia had to gain by Sonny killing Anthony. Anthony
cunningly responded that Claudia's scheme was to have Sonny sent off to
jail for Anthony's murder so that she could take over the entire
organization. To add credence to his claim, Anthony revealed that Claudia
had cuckolded Sonny when she engaged in an affair with his brother, Ric.
Sonny was unmoved by Anthony's lies and entreaties. He leveled a gun at
Anthony then threatened to kill him. He gave Anthony the choice of dying
like a man or a coward. Anthony recoiled with fear. He cried and pleaded
with Sonny to reconsider. Just as Sonny seemed poised to pull the trigger,
Jason burst through the door. He told Sonny to drop the gun, but Sonny
refused. Sonny defended his actions by exposing all Anthony's crimes and
transgressions. Jason reminded Sonny that they needed Anthony alive. When
Jason and Sonny's argument turned into a struggle for Sonny's gun, Anthony
took advantage of their inattention. He jumped out of the wheelchair then
ran out of the room just as Sonny's gun went off.
February 6, 2009 - Ethan and Luke played pool and talked about the
beautiful girl named Holly who Luke had long ago seduced into
skinny-dipping. Ethan said he had met a beautiful girl named Holly, also.
Luke asked if Ethan knew her last name, and Ethan said it was Sutton. Luke
was stunned that they were talking about the same Holly and didn't believe
their meeting was a coincidence. Luke was sure Ethan had heard about Luke
before, but Ethan swore he had never heard any stories about Luke Spencer.
After Luke asked for some more information on the young man, Ethan
revealed that he had been adopted and his adoptive parents had been
killed.
Jason told Sam that he had to find Anthony before Sonny killed him.
Someone had to be turned over to the Feds. If Sonny killed Anthony, Jason
would be forced to turn over Sonny.
Claudia told Carly that Anthony could walk and he had been the one who
shot Kate on the day of Sonny and Kate's wedding. Carly thought that
information was awfully useful to Claudia, and felt the woman was using it
to her advantage. Claudia said she had just given up the only chance at a
relationship with her father she could have ever had. Carly wasn't
concerned with Claudia's relationship with her father, and she stormed
out.
Ric tried to reason with Sonny and convince him not to kill Anthony. Sonny
was tired of Anthony hurting and killing the people Sonny loved. Sonny was
sure Ric probably knew Anthony could walk all along, and Sonny realized
Ric might have even known Anthony had been the one to shoot Kate. Sonny
said he would allow Ric to live if Ric helped Sonny get revenge on
Anthony. Jason and Sam ran into Ric in the hallway, where Jason threw Ric
up against the wall and asked if he had seen Sonny. Ric laughed and didn't
want to help them, but he ended up telling them that he had seen Sonny
running around looking for Anthony. Meanwhile, Trevor found Anthony in the
hospital chapel where Anthony told him that Sonny was after him. Trevor
promised to help Anthony by finding Sonny and distracting him until
Anthony could escape. Anthony was relieved for his friend's help, and
Trevor quickly ran away.
Trevor ran into Sonny in the hallway not long after leaving Anthony in the
chapel. Trevor admitted that Sonny had always been a thorn in his side,
even as a child when Trevor was married to Sonny's mother. What Anthony
did to Kate, though, was inexcusable. Trevor admitted to Sonny that he had
left Anthony in the chapel after promising to distract Sonny. That was
Trevor's gift to Kate, but he wanted Sonny to make sure he aimed his gun
right between Anthony's eyes.
Carly went into Kate's room and was relieved to see she was awake. Carly
explained that Anthony had been the one who shot Kate. Carly needed to
know if Sonny had been there and where he had gone. Kate said Sonny would
come back to her once he realized what scum he had married. Carly stood
and listened in disbelief as Kate explained that everything Sonny had ever
done was for Kate. After all the risks Kate had taken with her life in the
past few months, Kate realized she needed to listen to her heart. She
loved Sonny and wanted to be with him. Carly said Sonny was in love with
power more than he was in love with Kate. As long as Claudia offered power
to Sonny, he would stay married to Anthony Zacchara's daughter.
Maxie and Johnny tried to warm Robin up and get her to remember where she
had left Emma. Suddenly, Johnny and Maxie heard crying. They looked up and
found Emma in a tree not far from where they were. Maxie grabbed the
little girl and was relieved to find she was okay. All four of them walked
back to the van, where the girls got in and Johnny tried to get the van
running again. Robin kept repeating herself, saying that Emma had a fever.
Robin had been trying to find a house where someone would help her or find
a place where her cell phone would work. Johnny knocked on the window and
told Maxie to try to start the engine. Maxie tried to hand Emma off to
Robin, but Robin wouldn't take her little girl. She kept saying that Emma
was all right. A frustrated Maxie held Emma as she got in the front seat
and turned the key to the van.
After Johnny managed to get the van running, he started driving the group
to the nearest hospital. He wasn't sure if Mercy Hospital or General
Hospital was closest, though. Emma was distraught and wouldn't stop
crying, although Maxie didn't think the little girl's fever was very high.
Maxie seemed more concerned about Robin, though. Robin refused to hold
Emma, even after Maxie said she thought Emma wanted her mother. Robin was
also acting delirious, and Johnny and Maxie thought Robin could be
suffering from hypothermia. Robin closed her eyes and appeared
unconscious. Maxie told Johnny that Robin wasn't acting like herself.
Robin was normally a planner and didn't act so unprepared.
Jax went into the FBI trailer and asked for an update from Agent Rayner.
The FBI agent was feeling the stress from his superiors, and he didn't
need civilians pressuring him, also. Jax said he knew he wasn't supposed
to be there, but he knew influential people. He could make phone calls to
people in the media and make it even worse for Agent Rayner. Jax said
Agent Rayner had one hour before Jax would take matters into his own
hands.
Nikolas found Carly and asked if she had seen a woman who resembled Emily
walking around the hospital. Carly looked concerned about Nikolas, but
said she hadn't seen anyone matching Emily's description. As soon as
Nikolas turned and walked away, he saw Rebecca, Emily's look-alike. He
walked over to her and they stared at each other.
Patrick found Sam and asked if she had seen Spinelli. Patrick needed to
find out if Emma and Robin had been admitted to Mercy Hospital. Sam hadn't
seen Spinelli in a little while, but she was concerned that Spinelli had
done something crazy and gotten himself into trouble. Patrick was worried
Spinelli might have found a way to leave the building, but Sam was sure
Spinelli wouldn't have done that. Spinelli knew he was the only one who
could enable the hospital to communicate with the outside world, so no one
thought he would abandon them. Sam was worried because Spinelli didn't
want the poison falling back into the hands of the Equinox Corporation.
She was afraid he would do something daring, and Patrick thought he might
endanger the rest of the people at the hospital. Patrick and Sam's
conversation was halted when Patrick's cell phone rang. It was Robin, and
the cell phone connection was bad. Patrick tried to tell Robin to go to
Mercy Hospital, but she
couldn't hear him. When Patrick hung up, Sam assured him that the phone
call had at least verified that Robin was okay. Patrick worried about his
daughter, though.
Maxie, Johnny, Robin, and Emma arrived at General Hospital, where Jax
greeted them outside. Jax told them about the poison that had been
released and how the hospital was on lockdown. Robin was concerned about
Patrick and asked if anyone had seen her husband.
Spinelli tried to convince Winifred that they shouldn't be returning the
poison to Equinox. Spinelli felt that any corporation that would
manufacture such a deadly toxin shouldn't be trusted. The fact that such a
deadly toxin was stolen was proof of Equinox's incompetence. Spinelli
wanted Winifred to use her own conscience, not the orders she was given,
to stand up and be counted as a savior to the human race. The two argued
over Spinelli's desire to do what was morally right and Winifred's desire
to follow orders from her superior. Spinelli and Winifred stopped arguing
when two other individuals came into the operating room claiming to be
from the FBI. Winifred and Spinelli talked as the two FBI agents put the
poison in safe, metal tubes. As they worked, Spinelli noticed the
fluctuation of the oxygen sensors. He and Winifred managed to jump out of
the operating room just as an explosion went off.
Ric went into Claudia's hospital room where he and Claudia fought. Ric was
still upset that Claudia had betrayed him and told Sonny the secret about
Anthony's ability to walk and shooting Kate. Claudia said she was trying
to prove her loyalty to Sonny. She could protect Ric after cementing her
position with Sonny. Ric was furious, and kicked the hospital tray in the
corner.
Trevor walked into Claudia's hospital room just as Ric was erupting in
anger, and he grabbed his son's arm. Ric and Trevor fought over Ric's
decision to try to make an ally of Anthony. Trevor said Claudia had at
least married the right brother. Ric always wanted immediate
gratification, which was why he always seemed to make the wrong choices.
Trevor implied that Anthony wouldn't leave the hospital alive. Trevor said
Claudia would do just fine without her father, and Trevor had made sure he
had a business and life outside of Port Charles. Ric needed to
disassociate himself from all things Zacchara. Ric assured his father that
he would be just fine before he stormed out of Claudia's hospital room.
Once Ric was gone, Claudia asked Trevor why he had to come between her and
Ric. Trevor said he wanted Claudia to see how well he had played the game.
When everything was over, Johnny and Trevor would be the only ones left
standing. Sonny would take care of killing Anthony. Trevor had his own
insurance policy, though. He showed Claudia a vial with one of the toxic
balls in it. He planned on using it to get out of the hospital and
possibly avoid prosecution.
Sonny walked into the chapel and didn't see Anthony, so he quietly waited.
Anthony tried to crawl out the other door, but Sonny saw him and stopped
him from leaving. Sonny told him no one was left to save Anthony. Sonny
wanted to know why Anthony shot an innocent woman, but Anthony said there
was no such thing as an innocent woman. Anthony couldn't believe Sonny
would shoot him in a chapel, but Sonny pointed out that Anthony had no
problem shooting Kate in the church where Sonny and Kate were about to be
married. Sonny pointed the gun at Anthony's head, prepared to kill his
enemy.
Jason stormed into the chapel with his gun drawn. He yelled to Sonny not
to shoot Anthony. Sonny was upset that Jason had a gun pointed at him.
Jason tried to explain why he needed Anthony alive, but Sonny was only
interested in revenge. Anthony kept yelling that Jason needed to shoot
Sonny before Sonny shot Anthony. Jason pleaded with Sonny that no matter
what had happened between the two of them, Spinelli didn't deserve to go
to jail. Frustrated, Sonny kicked Anthony and knocked him out. Sonny
looked at Jason and told him he wanted to kill Anthony more than anything
else. He would refrain from doing so as a favor to Jason, though.
February 9, 2009 - In one part of General Hospital, Nikolas saw Rebecca
Shaw.
In another, Trevor told Claudia that everything was working out to his
advantage. He expected that he and Johnny would be the last two standing
after Sonny killed Anthony and the poison killed her. He gloated as he
showed Claudia the missing vial of poison that he called his free pass.
Before he could hide the vial, Carly walked in caught him.
In the chapel, Sonny held a gun on Anthony, and Jason held a gun on Sonny.
Jason begged Sonny not to shoot Anthony. He said that Spinelli was an
innocent and did not deserve to suffer. Sonny fired a shot in the wall,
but heeded Jason's request and hit Anthony in the head with his gun
instead.
Johnny, Maxie, Robin, and Emma arrived outside the hospital. Jax was there
and told them about the quarantine.
Spinelli and Winnifred were in the OR watching the clean-up team, who were
preparing to transport the deadly poison, when Spinelli noticed something
amiss. He shouted out a warning, but it was too late. He barely had time
to guide Winnifred out of the OR before it exploded in flames. Winnifred
and Spinelli were unhurt. After they removed their hazmat suits Winnifred
told Spinelli how impressed she was by his quick thinking and fast action.
Spinelli was modest. They shared a heartfelt moment before heading out to
help evacuate the hospital.
Before Nikolas could speak to Rebecca Shaw, the ceiling collapsed in
flames and burning debris separated them. Nikolas told Rebecca to head
away from the flames and she did.
Lucky was in the lobby with Epiphany when the explosion occurred. She told
him she needed his help to evacuate the hospital. He said he would be back
as soon as he checked on Elizabeth.
Sam ran into Lulu. Both were looking for Spinelli. Thy teamed up and
started searching for anyone trapped in the smoke.
After the explosion, Carly tried to make Trevor see reason and hand over
the biotoxin, but Trevor was completely caught up in his own schemes. He
lauded it over Claudia when he poured out his venom and hate for her and
wished her endless torment and agony. Carly was sympathetic to Claudia's
plight. She told Claudia that Trevor was deranged, and Claudia agreed.
Sonny and Jason heard the explosion and decided to help out. Sonny told
Jason that Anthony was Jason's responsibility. Jason took Anthony to a
vacant hospital bed and strapped him down. Anthony feared for his life,
but Jason said he would be back for Anthony after he had helped with the
evacuation. Anthony laughed at the irony that he was under Jason's
protection.
After the explosion, Jax and Rayner went head-to-head in the police
trailer with Robin, Johnny, Maxie, and Emma standing by. Jax told Rayner
he was going in for Carly, whether Rayner liked it or not. Robin wanted to
talk to Patrick, who called Rayner to report the OR explosion. Rayner did
not mention that Robin was there, and Patrick hung up to go try to keep
the fire from spreading to the room that held the oxygen tanks.
Maxie wanted Robin to take Emma to Mercy, but Robin insisted that she was
needed at GH, and she sent Johnny and Maxie to the hospital with Emma.
At the bar, Luke played pool with Ethan in an attempt to draw him out and
find his real motive for being in Port Charles and coming to Luke. Ethan
owed Luke $500.00, and Luke told him to pay up or play the game perfectly.
After Ethan successfully ran the table five times and matched Luke's
drinks shot for shot, he told Luke that he had come to Port Charles
because he had known Holly in Australia and she had spoken fondly of the
place. When Luke took his turn at the table, Ethan turned away and took a
rumpled, blurry picture out of his pocket that might have been Robert,
Luke, or any number of Port Charles residents. Luke remained suspicious of
Ethan, and when he caught Ethan tossing his drink into a pitcher of beer,
and then pretending to down it, he tacked another hundred on to Ethan's
bill. Ethan lost his temper and Luke told him that if he wanted to be good
at the con, he had to remember to never let the mark see him sweat.
Sam and Lulu met up with Jason, who told them what he knew. They kept
looking for survivors while investigating the path of the fire. Sam,
Jason, Winnifred, Spinelli, and Lulu were studying the hospital evacuation
plans when Nikolas and Patrick arrived. The group looked to Patrick, who
gave instruction to start evacuating patients. Sam and Jason left to make
sure that the west stairwell was clear.
Nikolas found Patrick, who pressed him into service with a fire
extinguisher. Patrick hoped to put it out or at least prevent it from
reaching the stored oxygen tanks. Despite a valiant effort, they were
forced to retreat.
Olivia was with Kate, but worried about what was going on. Kate insisted
that Olivia also look for the DVD she wanted to deliver to Sonny. Olivia
was nonplussed by Kate's obsession for the DVD, but Kate refused to share
the reason she wanted it to go to Sonny. Olivia left Kate and went looking
for answers about the crisis.
On the way to Mercy in Johnny's car, Maxie was glad when Emma stopped
crying. She told Johnny that she really did not want to be a mother.
Johnny told her she would be a good one, but Maxie said she was too
selfish.
Elizabeth noticed the smoke and was struggling to get up when Rebecca
entered her room. Elizabeth was stunned. Rebecca told her to remain calm
and she would get help. Elizabeth was speechless when Rebecca left.
Epiphany would not let Jax into the hospital, so he threw a chair through
the door. Several patients exited. Epiphany threw up her hands and
returned to the evacuation. Jax went in search of Carly.
Sonny found Carly outside Claudia's room. She told him that Trevor had the
poison. Sonny went looking for Trevor.
Trevor found Anthony strapped to the bed where Jason had left him. Trevor
taunted Anthony and ignored his plea to be untied. Trevor let Anthony know
how much he despised him, then left him alone. Sonny caught up with
Trevor, but Trevor dared Sonny to shoot him before he could release the
deadly poison. Sonny hesitated and Trevor walked away.
Lucky and Jax met in the stairwell, but it was blocked above. They headed
out together to find Elizabeth and Carly.
Jason and Sam checked the west stairwell and found it completely filled
with smoke.
Rebecca was trapped in the smoke and took several wrong turns that brought
her directly into the path of the fire. Nikolas rushed into Elizabeth's
room. She tried to tell him about Rebecca, but he was too busy trying to
get her to safety to listen.
At Mercy, Johnny used his Zacchara clout to get preferential treatment
when it appeared that Emma would have to wait a long time to be seen by a
doctor. When Johnny apologized, Maxie said she did not mind and, in fact,
he could feel free to do it any time for her. The doctor was very abrupt
and treated Maxie scornfully as he asked questions about Emma and her
exposure to the elements. When he took Emma away for tests, Maxie became
increasingly concerned about Robin's behavior toward Emma. Maxie said that
if anything bad happened to Emma, Robin would blame herself, and Maxie
said she would blame Robin, too. When the doctor came back, he told Johnny
and Maxie that Emma had pneumonia.
Amid the chaos, Robin and Patrick managed to connect on the phone. He
wanted to know about Emma. Robin was blasé when she told him that she had
sent Emma with Johnny and Maxie so that she could help with the
evacuation. She hung up before Patrick could say more. After Robin and
Epiphany wheeled patients out of the hospital, Robin was ready to return
for more, but Epiphany told her that she had done enough, and ordered her
to go to Mercy to be with her sick child. Olivia got the scoop from
Patrick and hurried back to Kate so that they could evacuate the hospital
together.
Spinelli and Winnifred found Carly with Claudia. They asked Carly to
evacuate Claudia. She agreed. Claudia told Carly to leave her and save
herself. Carly aid that Claudia had been injured because she had attended
Carly's benefit. She told Claudia that they would make it out together.
Claudia made it to the wheelchair and Carly pushed her out of the room.
Sonny found Anthony. Anthony wanted to be cut loose, but Sonny told him
that either Jason would come for him or he would fry in the fire. Sonny
caught up to Trevor just as he reached the edge of the fire. He threatened
Sonny with exposure to the poison again, but Sonny said that fire would
destroy the poison. He told Trevor that if he shot him between the eyes,
Trevor would fall backwards into the flame and the toxin would be
destroyed. Trevor laughed, Sonny fired, the oxygen tanks exploded and
Trevor fell backwards. The explosion also felled Sonny, who lay
unconscious next to flaming pieces of walls and flooring. flooring.
February 10, 2009 - Jason and Sonny met up in a hallway, and Jason asked
what had happened to Trevor. Sonny said there had been an explosion and he
hoped Trevor was dead. Sam approached them just as Sonny told Jason to go
look for Anthony. Sonny left, and Sam told Jason that it appeared as if
Sonny and Jason were on the same page again.
Carly pushed Claudia through the hallways while looking for a way out of
the hospital. They were unknowingly behind Olivia and Kate, who were also
searching for an escape route. Kate was still trying to convince Olivia to
go back and look for the missing DVD. The two sets of women met up in a
hallway where a nurse told them to wait by the elevators and someone would
come back to help them out. Claudia became agitated and wanted to make
sure Carly had a backup plan in case no one came back to rescue them. Kate
announced that no one should save Claudia after all she'd done and all she
should pay for. Olivia blew up at Kate, and told her to stop her rants
about Claudia. Carly laughed at the two cousins bickering, so Kate took
her frustration out on Carly by telling her she deserved all the bad
things that had happened to her.
Sonny approached the group of his ex-significant others and Olivia
mentioned how uncomfortable the situation must be for him. Sonny wanted to
help save all the women, but Claudia saw the DVD under a chair and
insisted Olivia and Kate be the first to go. Sonny could come back to get
Carly and Claudia. As soon as Sonny was gone with the two women from
Bensonhurst, Claudia insisted Carly also leave. Claudia said she just
wanted Sonny to come rescue her. Carly wasn't sure about it, but left
anyway. She crossed paths with Sonny in the hallway, where he warned her
that Trevor could still be on the loose. They both warned each other to
watch their backs, and left in opposite directions. Meanwhile, Claudia
fell on the floor and managed to get the DVD before Sonny rounded the
corner and found her. He put her back in the wheelchair and wheeled her
over to where he had stashed Kate and Olivia.
Tracy told Lulu to go save herself, because it would be easier for Lulu to
get out on her own. Lulu said she wouldn't leave her stepmother, though.
It wasn't just for Luke, either. Lulu could never forgive herself if she
let anything happen to the best stepmother she ever had.
Meanwhile, Nikolas found Monica and Edward and led them to a safer hallway
that wasn't filled with smoke. Edward apologized to Nikolas for trying to
convince Emily not to marry him. Edward had been worried about Nikolas'
genes, but Nikolas had proven he was a good man. Nikolas offered to stay
with Monica while Edward checked on Tracy. While Edward was gone, Nikolas
and Monica talked about Emily and how much they missed her. Unknowingly,
Nadine listened in as Nikolas told Monica that his love with Emily was
once in a lifetime. Edward returned after speaking with Tracy and seeing
she was getting back to her normal, agitated self.
Jason continued searching hallways and stumbled upon a girl lying on the
floor. He scooped her up just as the fire got worse, and rushed her into a
safer area with a gurney. He couldn't stop staring at her when he noticed
how much she looked like Emily. He apologized and told her she looked like
his sister who had passed away. Sam entered the room and immediately
gasped as she saw Emily's look-alike. Jason asked Sam to take care of the
woman while he went on his way to rescue more people. Sam introduced
herself to the young woman, who said her name was Rebecca Shaw. Sam
brought Rebecca around the corner to where Edward and Monica were staying.
Edward was speechless, and Monica gasped, "Emily," when she saw
the young woman.
Epiphany asked Jax and Lucky to help out wherever they could. Even Robin
was helping out while her newborn daughter was at Mercy Hospital with a
high fever. Meanwhile, Patrick found Matt trying to help Liz. Patrick
wanted his little brother to take it easy, but Matt wasn't about to be
pushed back after feeling like the whole tragedy was his fault. Matt told
Patrick he could vent to him if Patrick needed to. Patrick finally let
loose and said the situation was grim. The only way out appeared to be
through the roof, and the blizzard was making a helicopter landing too
difficult. Patrick was only worried about Robin and Emma, though, and he
explained the situation to Matt.
Meanwhile, Robin worked to evacuate people while a young woman with a
newborn baby fretted over taking her baby out in the cold. Robin realized
she hadn't worried that much when she took Emma out that night. Epiphany
and another nurse headed to the nursery to get more babies for transport,
and Robin followed. Epiphany asked Robin to bundle up a little girl in the
corner, and Robin had difficulty picking the little girl up. She started
to squirm as the newborn girl began to fuss.
Jax walked into the temporary headquarters for the emergency personnel and
asked Mac for an update. Mac had spoken with Patrick, who had informed him
that a rooftop evacuation was the only way to rescue people above the
fifth floor. Mac couldn't risk it, though, because the blizzard was making
helicopter flights too dangerous. Jax wouldn't allow all those people to
just burn, though. He decided to volunteer to fly his helicopter to the
top of the hospital.
Carly walked around another corner and found Winnifred and Spinelli
sitting together with their laptops. The two computer nerds had been
monitoring the weather reports all night and had established email contact
with Mac. Just as Carly approached, Spinelli received word that a
volunteer was offering to fly a helicopter to the hospital's roof. That
volunteer was Carly's husband, Jax.
Lulu found Liz still having difficulty breathing. Matt was still trying to
help her, but Liz asked for a moment alone with Lulu. Liz took the time to
ask Lulu for help if she didn't make it out alive. Her boys would be lucky
to have the best dad ever to care for them, but Liz knew Lucky would need
help. Lulu promised she would help, but she asked Liz to gather the
strength to fight. Liz had two wonderful boys to fight for, and she needed
to live for them. Lulu left to go check on Tracy. It wasn't long before
Lucky burst through the doors and grabbed Elizabeth in his arms.
Biotoxin Dvd #4 February 11-19,
2009 - 6 complete episodes, no commercials
February 11,
2009 - While they played pool, Luke gave Ethan pointers on running
successful cons. Ethan asked Luke if he had ever been in a situation that
had terrified him. Luke recounted an incident involving Robert Scorpio
when Luke had faced a firing squad. Luke also revealed that Robert had
been married to Holly Sutton at one time. Ethan asked if was possible that
Holly had picked up her special con from Robert. Luke dismissed the
possibility. He was certain the secret she had shared with Ethan had
Spencer written all over it.
Trouble found the pair when an armed man, named Roger, walked into the
bar. Ethan's friend, Nina, accompanied him. Roger pointed the gun at
Ethan, making it clear that they were his targets. Luke decided to fake a
heart attack in an effort to get the two of them out of a dangerous
situation. Ethan caught on pretty quickly. Luke kept Roger distracted with
his antics while Ethan picked up a bottle that he smashed over Roger's
head. Roger collapsed onto the pool table, unconscious. Nina went to check
Roger. It turned out that Roger was Sheriff Roger Dault.
Jason and Nikolas were in the stairwell at General Hospital, using
extinguishers to put out small batches of fire so that people could make
their way to the rooftop. While they worked, Nikolas asked Jason if
Rebecca had said anything to him. Jason said that she had asked him why he
was staring at her; he thought he might have said something about Emily.
At that point, Jason said, Sam came up to ask him to help fight the fire.
After the men had the last of the fires out, Jason and Nikolas returned to
the floor where people were waiting to be evacuated.
Robin was in an examination room with an infant in her arms. As she rocked
the baby, she talked about Emma being at Mercy Hospital. Robin was
teary-eyed as she told the baby that Emma was very sick and probably
needed her mother. Epiphany walked in to let Robin know that they were
ready to transport the baby to another hospital. When Epiphany tried to
take the baby from Robin, Robin stopped her. Robin said she was fine, then
led the way out of the room still holding the baby.
Maxie and Johnny waited in an exam room with Emma. Maxie was worried about
Robin because of her odd behavior. She had no idea why Robin had put Emma
in Maxie's care instead of staying with her sick child. Maxie was
concerned that she would make the wrong decision on Emma's behalf. When
the doctor walked in, he told Maxie and Johnny that their daughter's test
results suggested that they had two options available to treat Emma's
pneumonia. The doctor reviewed both avenues with them, but Maxie was
unable to decide which course to follow. Dread of making the wrong
choice prompted Maxie to reveal to the doctor that they were not Emma's
parents. The doctor was not amused. He made it clear that he needed one of
Emma's parents to make a decision as soon as possible. Johnny went to find
Robin while Maxie stayed behind with Emma. After Johnny left, Maxie prayed
for Georgie to watch over Emma.
Nikolas approached Patrick, Sam, and Edward as they hovered over a
distraught Monica, who was seated in a wheelchair. Edward explained that
Monica had fainted when she saw a woman who bore an uncanny resemblance to
Emily. Sam told them that the woman's name was Rebecca Shaw. Monica
couldn't get past how much Rebecca looked like Emily. She was convinced
that the two had to be related. Nikolas agreed, but he had no idea how; he
didn't recall Emily mentioning a sibling. Monica was certain that if there
had been a second child, Emily's biological mother would have told Monica.
Nearby, Nadine and Matt quietly talked about Leyla's passing. Matt felt
guilty because he had inadvertently released the toxin that took her life.
In another area, close to where Nadine and Matt sat, Elizabeth begged
Lucky to take care of the boys if she didn't make it. She wanted Lucky to
promise that he would not risk his life to save hers.
Mac was on the phone trying to get answers from Agent Rayner, but had
little success. Alexis walked in just as Mac ended the call. She was upset
because Jax was attempting to land a helicopter on the hospital's rooftop
in the middle of a blizzard. As they were talking, word came over the
police radio that the helicopter was out of control. Alexis started for
the door, but Mac stopped her when they heard a loud explosion. He warned
her that she wouldn't want to see what was out there if the worst had
happened to Jax in the crash.
Carly stood on the roof of the hospital, watching in horror as Jax's
helicopter crashed. She stared in disbelief when she realized that there
weren't any emergency vehicles rushing to his aid. Spinelli was on the
rooftop with Carly. He pleaded with her to go back inside. Carly didn't
want to, but Spinelli prevailed. The pair went inside to find Winnifred.
Winnifred was frantically typing away on her laptop in an attempt to get a
signal so that she could communicate with the outside. Carly refused to
believe that Jax had perished in the helicopter, despite what she had
seen. Jason soon joined them. When he learned what had happened to Jax's
helicopter, Jason took Carly aside to comfort her.
In another area of the hospital, Kate spotted the DVD she had been looking
for. It was under Claudia's wheelchair. When she heard Sonny express his
appreciation to Claudia for exposing Anthony's role in Kate's shooting on
her wedding day, Kate couldn't keep quiet. She called Sonny over, clearly
intending to tell him about the DVD. Unfortunately, Sonny didn't give Kate
the opportunity to say much. He was determined to find help and walked
away. Kate decided to enlist Olivia's help. She told her cousin that she
found her DVD, then pointed it out.
Olivia wanted nothing to do with the DVD. Claudia, meanwhile, tried to do
her best to keep Kate away from the damaging piece of evidence by accusing
Kate of being so desperate to be with Sonny that she'd use any excuse. The
three bickered until Olivia stood up and fetched the DVD. Once Olivia had
it in her hand, she surprised Kate by telling her that what she was about
to do was for Kate's own good. Kate was stunned when Olivia followed that
statement up by walking away with the incriminating evidence in her hand.
Olivia walked up to a hospital room, opened the door ,then threw the DVD
into the burning room. Sonny approached her moments later. When he asked
her what she was doing, Olivia told him that she was saving Kate from
heartbreak. Sonny had no idea what Olivia was talking about. He dragged
her away from the inferno, then told her to get Kate and Claudia to the
rooftop for a rescue. When Olivia returned to Kate, Kate was furious when
she learned that Olivia had destroyed the DVD.
Sonny and Patrick converged in the hallway were Spinelli, Winnifred,
Jason, and Carly were gathered. They discussed their options and decided
that they needed to get everyone to the rooftop in the hopes that another
rescue attempt would be made. Carly was determined to find Jax, so she
slipped away with the intention of making her way to the lobby where the
helicopter had crashed. When Jason noticed that she was missing, Sonny and
Jason went to find her. Patrick returned to the people gathered in the
hallway waiting for evacuation. He told everyone that they were to head to
the rooftop. Edward turned to Nikolas to plead with him to find Rebecca
Shaw.
Alexis was thrilled when Jax walked into the temporary shelter where the
police were working. She threw herself into Jax's arms, relieved that he
had survived the crash. Jax explained that he had jumped out moments
before the helicopter exploded. He wanted Mac to give him a police
helicopter so that he could make another attempt to land on the hospital
roof. Mac refused to consider it; the conditions were much too dangerous.
Jax wouldn't back down. He reminded Mac that he was an experienced pilot.
He knew where he had gone wrong during the first attempt. Jax was
confident that he could land the helicopter if he was given a second
opportunity. When Mac finally capitulated, Alexis spoke up. She
pulled rank to deny Jax his request, but Jax eventually changed her mind.
Nikolas found Rebecca a short time later. She apologized for walking away
when Monica had fainted. Rebecca said that she had panicked. Nikolas
reassured her that she had nothing to apologize for. He then told her that
everyone was headed to the rooftop. Rebecca wanted to know why Nikolas was
so eager to help her.
The doctor told Maxie that antibiotics were no longer an option for Emma.
He warned Maxie that Emma's condition was dire; he needed one of her
parents to authorize treatment as soon as possible.
Robin walked into the temporary police shelter to update Mac on what was
going on at the hospital. As she was talking, Johnny walked in. He told
her that Emma was in critical condition and that Robin was needed at the
hospital. Robin had little reaction to the news. When she didn't follow
Johnny, he reminded her that it was urgent. He had to practically drag
Robin out of the door with him.
On the rooftop, the patients gathered just as Jax landed the helicopter.
Edward helped Monica while Lucky helped Elizabeth. Sam watched as Lucky
kissed Elizabeth after she pleaded with him to fly to safety with her.
Nearby, Winnifred threw herself into Spinelli's arms. She didn't want to
leave the hospital without him.
Inside, Sonny found Carly wandering the hallways looking for a way to the
lobby. He told her that they needed to get to the rooftop, but Carly
resisted. When they heard a loud groan, they looked up just as the ceiling
gave way.
February 12, 2009 Luke and Ethan sat in jail using packages of crackers as
currency to bet on games of "Rock, Paper, Scissors." Much to
Luke's annoyance, Ethan was in the lead. Eventually Luke tired of the game
so he decided to find a way out of jail. He suggested that Ethan watch and
learn, then called out for a deputy. When a deputy named Charlie appeared,
Luke went to work. Luke told the deputy that his son, Lucky, was a police
officer. Luke also told Charlie that one of his friends was Alexis Davis,
the District Attorney. Charlie was impressed. Luke also invited Charlie
for a night of gambling on the Haunted Star, compliments of Luke. Charlie
asked if the invitation could include his brother. Sensing that he had
Charlie on the verge of releasing him, Luke agreed. Charlie smiled then
informed Luke that his brother was the sheriff. As Charlie walked away,
Ethan chuckled over Luke's failure.
A visit from Ethan's friend, Nina, presented Ethan with a chance to
persuade her to help him get out of jail. To gain her cooperation, Ethan
told Nina what she wanted to hear; he considered them a couple. Nina
immediately offered to distract Charlie so that she could get her hands on
the keys to the jail cell. It took a bit longer than anticipated, but in
the end, Nina came through. Unfortunately, Charlie figured out what she
was up to. He managed to snatch the keys away from Nina before she could
open the cell door.
Maxie rocked Emma in her arms in an effort to comfort the crying baby. She
was relieved when Robin finally arrived to take over. Robin stared at Emma
for a few moments then slowly took her into her arms. Maxie and Johnny
watched as Robin cuddled with Emma on an exam bed, gently rocking her.
When the doctor came in to talk to Robin about Emma's condition, Maxie and
Johnny stepped out of the room.
In the hallway, Johnny updated Maxie about the situation at the hospital.
Maxie was upset when she learned that Spinelli remained inside the
hospital. Her first instinct was to go to help him, but concern over
Emma's illness kept her from acting on it. After the doctor stepped out of
the room, Maxie checked on Robin and Emma. Emma rested peacefully in her
mother's arms, so Maxie asked if there was anything that Robin needed.
Robin asked her cousin to find Patrick and bring him to Mercy Hospital.
After Maxie left, Robin sang a lullaby to Emma then told her daughter
about how she had met Patrick. She finished the tale by telling Emma how
much Robin and Patrick loved their daughter. A short time later, the
doctor returned to check on Emma. The news was good; Emma's condition had
taken a turn for the better. The doctor credited the power of a mother's
love for the improvement.
On the rooftop, Jax rescued more people from the burning hospital. He was
frustrated to learn that Carly had not been located. While Edward, Tracy,
and Matt were boarding the helicopter, Patrick assured Jax that they would
find Carly.
Nikolas tried to explain to Rebecca why everyone was having a strange
reaction to seeing her. Rebecca understood that she bore a resemblance to
Emily, and that they were all grieving for Emily, but she didn't see how
it concerned her. When she started to walk away, Nikolas stopped her. He
told her that it was her business if she was related to Emily. Rebecca
seemed to become annoyed by the suggestion. She insisted that she wasn't,
but Nikolas didn't believe her. He told Rebecca that she didn't just look
like Emily; she was an exact replica of the woman he had loved. Rebecca's
discomfort grew; she refused to look when Nikolas offered to show her a
picture of Emily. Instead, Rebecca ran off before Nikolas could stop her.
Sam found Jason in a smoke-filled hallway. She tired to get him to go to
the rooftop, but Jason refused. He was determined to find Anthony
Zacchara, because he was the only bargaining chip Jason had to bargain
with the FBI to keep Spinelli safe.
Winnifred updated Mac on the situation at the hospital. She also let him
know that she was frustrated that she had been ordered to evacuate. She
thought she could have been more useful at the hospital rather than out of
it. Mac didn't agree. He said that Agent Rayner needed her at the police
station. Before she left, Winnifred asked Mac if he would make every
effort to rescue Spinelli from the hospital. He reminded her that there
were many people with loved ones at the hospital, but reassured her that
he would do his best to see that Spinelli made it out. Maxie arrived at
the temporary police shelter a short time later. She was eager to hear if
there had been word from Spinelli. When Mac told her that Spinelli
remained inside the hospital, Maxie decided to sneak in to the hospital to
find her friend.
Claudia was slowly making her way down the stairwell to the lobby when she
bumped into Trevor. Trevor seemed to take delight in tormenting Claudia.
He bet her that she wouldn't make it out of the hospital alive. Claudia
tried to ignore him, but Trevor was relentless. The more he talked, the
more erratic he sounded. He gloated about his prowess in stealing the
biotoxin, then waved it under Claudia's nose. Claudia warned Trevor that
Sonny would hunt him down if anything happened to her. Trevor laughed at
the empty thread. He promised Claudia that Sonny would feel nothing but
relief to have the burden of an unwanted wife lifted. Trevor finally
managed to push Claudia's buttons when he told her that Johnny would
quickly get over losing his sister, something that Claudia feared deep
down inside. Claudia lashed out, but Trevor quickly overpowered her. He
knocked her around then threw her down a flight of stairs. Claudia lay in
a crumpled heap as Trevor made his way to the rooftop.
On one of the floors of the hospital, Patrick found Lucky, Ric, Olivia,
and Lulu gathered. He urged them to head to the rooftop, but Olivia was
reluctant to go. Olivia wanted to find Kate first. Patrick told her that
she didn't have time. His temper flared as he yelled at everyone. He told
them that they were making matters worse, not better, by remaining in the
hospital. After Patrick walked off, Ric turned to Lucky to ask him if
Trevor had made it out on one of the helicopter flights. When Lucky told
him that he hadn't, Ric decided to search for his father.
Ric found Trevor in one of the hallways. Trevor had no interest in being
rescued by his son. He threw Ric's offer of help back in Ric's face, along
with some painful parting comments. Trevor told his son that Sonny had
been more loved than Ric ever would be. He advised Ric to get used to that
feeling, then took off. Next, Trevor bumped into Kate as she tried to make
her way to safety. Trevor started to help Kate, but Kate said that she was
perfectly capable of taking care of herself. She told him that she
regretted their past relationship and wanted nothing more to do with him.
Trevor insisted that he loved Kate and wanted to share his life with her.
Kate was disgusted by the offer; she told him that she was ashamed to have
ever been involved with him. When he showed her the biotoxin he had
secured, Kate was stunned. Just then, Sam approached them. Trevor told Sam
to stay back, then ran off. Sam followed Trevor while Kate remained
behind.
Jason carried Claudia to a waiting area. Kate was there. She told Jason
about her encounter with Trevor and how Sam had followed him when Trevor
fled with the biotoxin. Kate warned Jason that Trevor was unstable. When
Claudia confirmed Kate's assessment, Jason asked Claudia why she hadn't
told him that she'd seen Trevor earlier. Claudia admitted that she had
been afraid if she had, Jason would have left her behind so he could find
Trevor.
On the rooftop, Jax took another batch of people to safety. Among the
rescued were Lucky, Lulu, Olivia, and Ric.
Spinelli had limited success on his laptop. He discovered that the
northwest utility closet had hardwire access. Spinelli realized that he
could patch his laptop in and connect with the authorities, which would
make rescue attempts easier. He didn't want to risk his laptop succumbing
to fire, so Spinelli decided to leave it behind while he went to see if
the utility closet could be accessed. When Spinelli went into the closet
to confirm that it had hardwire access, the worst happened. The door
slammed shut, trapping Spinelli inside. Patrick came upon Spinelli's
abandoned laptop.
Nikolas managed to find Rebecca, but she was uncooperative. She wanted
Nikolas to stay away from her. While she yelled at him, a fiery wall
collapsed on top of her. Nikolas went to help Rebecca. He promised her
that he would not let anything happen to her.
February 13, 2009 Rebecca was stuck under a fallen beam, so Nikolas found
a piece of debris big enough to use as a wedge so Rebecca could get out.
Just as they started to try to escape again, more debris fell and Nikolas
was knocked unconscious. Rebecca couldn't get him to wake up, so she
grabbed his arms and tried to pull him to safety. Once they were out of
the immediate danger zone, Rebecca slapped Nikolas until he woke up.
Nikolas thought she was Emily when he first awoke, but Rebecca quickly got
him back up to speed and they headed towards the roof to be rescued.
Carly and Sonny had been knocked unconscious from the partial collapse of
the ceiling in one of the hospital hallways. Sonny awoke first and managed
to wake Carly up. They both climbed out of the rubble and started to walk
towards the south stairwell after it appeared to be their only option. As
they climbed down, they talked about how when disaster struck, the two of
them were always there for each other. Carly thanked her ex husband for
helping her.
Jason brought Claudia to where Kate was waiting and left the two women
there to be rescued. After Jason was gone, Kate admitted she had seen the
DVD from Jerry and knew that Claudia was responsible for Michael being in
a coma. Claudia denied everything, including the existence of the DVD. She
called Kate delusional.
Maxie walked up stairs in the south stairwell at General Hospital
complaining about how tired she was and how Spinelli owed her for rescuing
him. Johnny stood outside and overheard a policeman saying a blonde girl
with high heels had managed to get into the hospital. Johnny also found a
way in without anyone stopping him, and he started to make his way up the
stairs in the south stairwell. Johnny ran into Carly and Sonny trying to
make their way down, and they tried to discourage him from continuing the
search for Maxie. After a compromise couldn't be reached, Johnny left
Sonny and Carly and continued to go up the stairs.
Jason met up with Patrick in one of the hallways, and Patrick asked where
Spinelli was. Patrick had found Spinelli's laptop and was worried,
thinking Spinelli would never leave his laptop behind. Jason said it was
possibly Spinelli was doing something risky and stupid, trying to save
someone's life. The two men left in opposite directions, and Patrick
rounded the corner to find Kate and Claudia arguing. Patrick said Kate and
Claudia would be the next people rescued once Jax returned. There was only
a small window of time left that Jax would be able to continue with his
rescue efforts.
Sam and Trevor stood on the roof where Sam tried to talk Trevor into
giving over the toxin. Trevor couldn't be convinced as he felt the toxin
was his insurance policy. Sam pulled a gun out, but Trevor told her not to
underestimate him like everyone else has done.
Jax arrived with his helicopter to make another rescue attempt, and Kate,
Claudia, Nikolas, and Rebecca were there to board. Patrick promised Jax he
would find Carly, but these four people were available to be rescued then.
Patrick gave medical information to Jax to relay to Mercy officials, and
Jax headed off towards the other hospital. Sam and Trevor watched the
helicopter as it flew away, and Trevor became enraged. He took the toxin
out of the bottle and said he would throw it on the ground. Then, Sam
would be responsible for killing all the innocent men, women, and children
down below. Trevor planned to tell the officials he had rescued the toxin
from whatever mobster died in General Hospital. Just as Trevor started to
throw it over the ledge, Sam made a leap for it. Trevor flew over the edge
of the rooftop, and Sam followed.
Jason rushed out to the rooftop and saw no one, so he started to go back
inside. He heard Sam grunting, and he quickly turned around. Sam was
barely holding on to the edge of the rooftop, but she had managed to grab
the ball of toxin and held it gingerly in her hand. Jason looked around
and it wasn't long before he found Sam hanging over the edge. He grabbed
her arms and started to pull her to safety. Just as Sam made it back over
the edge, she dropped the toxin. Jason managed to grab it, though.
Alexis sat in her office trying to work as the hospital chaos ravaged on.
Diane walked in, talking about all the clients she could possibly lose
since most of them were at General Hospital. Diane realized she was being
insensitive since many of Alexis' loved ones were trapped in the burning
building. Diane tried to be the voice of reason and said Sonny seemed like
he had nine lives. Sonny would make it through the latest disaster, and
Ric would, too. Ric might emerge a little worse for wear, but he would be
okay. Jax was another person Alexis was worried about. Diane said Jax
would not only come out of the crisis okay, but he wouldn't even have a
single hair out of place. Alexis smiled a bit and seemed to agree with
Diane about the three men. Sam was who Alexis was most worried about,
though. Alexis received a phone call and heard Ric had made it out of the
hospital. They didn't know anything about Kate, though. Diane was worried
about Kate and the possibility she might not be around to loan them
anymore fabulous clothes. Diane also wondered aloud about Carly's safety,
and Alexis assured Diane that Carly always made it out of crisis. Alexis
started talking about her regrets as a mother to Sam. Alexis decided she
would do her best to make things right if Sam made it out alive. The two
women continued to try to comfort each other, but as time went on their
hope started to diminish.
Nadine helped get Matt into an ambulance for his ride to Mercy Hospital.
Matt didn't want to go, but he finally revealed that he mostly didn't want
to leave his brother. He didn't realize that Patrick was at that very
moment boarding Jax's helicopter. Matt thanked Nadine for her help but
said she could go care for someone else, like Nikolas Cassadine. Nadine
said Nikolas didn't care about her as much as she cared about him. Matt
realized that Nadine had her heart broken.
They were interrupted when Patrick walked over to their ambulance, making
Matt much more relieved. The three medical personnel talked about whether
or not General Hospital would be rebuilt. Patrick became emotional and
reminisced about everything that had happened in his life at General
Hospital. He would make sure the hospital would be rebuilt. They decided
to head out to Mercy Hospital but were stopped by Agent Rayner. He wanted
to speak with Patrick. Matt would have to go to Mercy on his own. Matt was
upset that Patrick was being drawn into the questioning. Matt thought he
would have more information than his brother, especially since Matt had
been the one who performed the initial surgery that started all the chaos.
Nadine noticed Matt was getting more agitated, so she decided it was time
to go to Mercy Hospital. Just as Nadine prepared to shut the ambulance
doors, Nikolas and Rebecca walked over and asked if there was any more
room in the ambulance.
Lulu walked into Tracy's hospital room at Mercy Hospital and thought her
stepmother was asleep. Tracy spoke up and said she was not sleeping and
wanted to speak to Lulu. Tracy had been worried Lulu wouldn't make it out
of General Hospital, and she was worried what she would tell Luke. Tracy
couldn't get over the fact that Lulu never left Tracy's side until she was
put on the helicopter. Tracy said she was grateful to be Lulu's step
monster.
Tracy soon reverted back to her own self and demanded Lulu find out who
else had been rescued. She also wanted Lulu to find out where the hell
Luke was. Lulu left to check on the status of others being rescued and
brought back a coffee for Tracy. Luke wasn't answering his phone, but Lulu
said her father wasn't very good at communication. Tracy asked how Lulu
would feel if Johnny didn't answer his phone, and Lulu revealed that they
had had a fight. Lulu didn't even know if Johnny was in Port Charles or
knew about the fire. Tracy could see in Lulu's eyes that she regretted the
fight, but Tracy warned her stepdaughter not to belittle herself and go
crawling back to Johnny.
Liz awoke to find Lucky at Mercy Hospital with her, and she was relieved.
Lucky told her he wasn't giving her a choice. She had to concentrate on
getting better. Dying wasn't an option. Lucky left briefly to find out if
Nikolas had been rescued yet. When he came back, he didn't have any new
information. Liz told him about the Emily look-a-like at the hospital. Liz
knew Nikolas would do anything to save that woman. Lucky decided he needed
to go look for his brother.
Back at the temporary headquarters for the rescue personnel, Agent Rayner
invited Claudia and Kate inside to wait for their ambulance ride to Mercy
Hospital. Jax's helicopter had only taken them down to the ground where
they could safely wait for transportation. Claudia immediately said she
had nothing to say without her lawyer present, but Kate spoke up and said
she would be willing to give Agent Rayner any information he needed. The
first question for the ladies was who had the missing ball of toxin, and
Kate and Claudia both responded that Trevor Lansing had it and planned to
use it as leverage. Agent Rayner said they had just found Trevor's body.
It appeared he had jumped from the roof to avoid burning to death.
Agent Rayner left to speak with Patrick, giving Claudia and Kate more time
to bicker back and forth. Claudia was visible relieved to see Sonny as he
walked through the door, though. He had finally made it out.
Meanwhile, Carly talked to firemen and policemen about the pilot of the
helicopter that had crashed. She was worried about her husband. After not
receiving any help, a frustrated Carly looked around for anyone who could
help her. Jax saw her and called out to her, and they both rushed towards
each other. They embraced and kissed, thankful to have found each other
alive.
February 16, 2009 - At General Hospital, Rebecca Shaw and Nikolas were
successfully evacuated along with Claudia, Kate, and Patrick. Sonny and
Carly made it down the stairs, where she reunited with Jax. Maxie snuck
past the firefighters in search of Spinelli, and Johnny went after her. On
the roof, Jason saved Sam from falling and managed to grab the vial of
poison before it rolled off the ledge.
Luke and Ethan were stuck in jail in another town. Luke called the guard
and tried to get a phone call through to Lucky, but the guard was not
amenable to his request. Ethan asked about Lucky, and Luke said that he
was disappointed in Lucky's career choice. He told Ethan what a promising
con man Lucky had been as a child. Luke wondered where he had gone wrong
as a parent. Ethan seemed to understand Luke's desire for a son to
follow in his footsteps. They shared a laugh. Then Ethan asked Luke if
there was anything he could do to help. Luke suggested that they break out
of jail.
Rebecca rode with Nadine and Nikolas in the ambulance bound for Mercy. The
EMT mentioned the tension, which was obvious. Rebecca tried to reject
Nikolas' interest in her, ut he was persistent and Nadine was jealous. At
the hospital, Nikolas tried to accept responsibility for Rebecca's care,
but she refused his help and sent him away when the doctor came to examine
her.
Nikolas went straight to Monica's room, where she and Edward both wanted
to know more about Rebecca and her remarkable resemblance to Emily.
Nikolas told them what he knew, which was not much. They agreed that it
must be very unsettling for Rebecca to be the center of their attention.
When Monica wanted to see Rebecca again, Nikolas volunteered to go get her
after her examination. When he arrived at her room, the doctor told him
that Rebecca was okay and had left the hospital.
Carly and Jax were glad to find each other and they declared their love
for each other. Lulu showed up looking for Johnny. Carly told her that
Maxie had gone into the building and Johnny had gone after her.
Sonny found Claudia in the police trailer with Kate. Sonny had a warm
greeting for Claudia, who thanked him for saving her life. Sonny wanted to
know what Kate had been trying to tell him earlier, but before she could
say anything, Agent Rayner. Alexis, Olivia, and Jax came in. Rayner
sent Claudia and Kate to a waiting ambulance, and Olivia insisted on going
with Kate. When Sonny tried to go along, Rayner held him back. Alexis
wanted to know about Sam, who remained in the building along with
Spinelli, Jason, and Anthony. Jax wanted to take the helicopter up again
to get them, but Alexis vetoed his plan. She confirmed that Trevor Lansing
had taken a header off the building. After Jax and Alexis took their
argument across the room, Rayner let Sonny know that he had warrants to
search Anthony's homes, businesses, and bank accounts. Sonny wanted to
know what it had to do with him. He told Rayner that he was innocent of
any wrongdoing. Rayner told Sonny that the Feds has worked for years to
get Anthony. He pointed to Sonny when he said that if Anthony escaped the
police net, then the next highest-ranking criminal would take his place.
Rayner said that even making a bargain with Jason would not save Sonny if
the FBI did not get Anthony. Sonny was not intimidated by Rayner's tough
talk. He told Rayner that he was going to the hospital to see his wife,
and the only way to stop him was to arrest him. Rayner let him go.
At Mercy Hospital, Kate made Olivia wheel her to Claudia's room and leave
here there alone. Olivia did so, but not without protest. Kate let Claudia
know that she knew that Claudia had hired Ian Devlin to shoot Sonny, but
had put Michael in a coma instead. Claudia tried to deny it, but Kate had
seen the proof and would not be denied. Kate advised Claudia to tell the
truth to Sonny while she was in the hospital and protected long enough for
Sonny to get control and not kill her as a reflex action on learning that
she was responsible for Michael's coma.
Sonny and Olivia arrived before the women could say more. Olivia left with
Kate, but Sonny stayed with Claudia. They shared a tender moment, and then
Claudia started talking about their history, especially the time when
Sonny had kidnapped Johnny and held him hostage. Despite Sonny's protests
about rehashing the past, Claudia continued to explain her emotional state
of mind around the time that Michael was shot.
In a hospital room at Mercy, Robin held Emma and told her how lucky they
had been to survive. She shared her love with Emma, who continued to
improve. Mac came to check on Robin and to let her know that Patrick was
safe, but being interrogated by Rayner, because he was an eyewitness.
Robin was glad to see Mac and they talked about the decisions that public
servants, like doctors and policemen, had to make between duty and family.
Robin felt that she had made the correct decision to send Emma to Mercy
with Maxie and Johnny while she helped evacuate GH. Mac agreed.
Johnny found Maxie's shoe and followed the fire until he came upon Maxie,
who had passed out from the smoke. He carried her to a stairwell and
convinced her that they had to leave because the stairwells were blocked
and there was no way to get to Spinelli. She reluctantly agreed. Johnny
and Maxie exited GH and turned to each other. They shared a long hug.
Lulu, who was standing nearby, was stunned to see them embrace.
Sam and Jason left the roof to search for Spinelli and to dispose of the
poison. The found a raging blaze and tossed the vial into it. As Jason and
Sam looked for Spinelli, she remembered that he was trying to get a better
Internet connection before he disappeared. They stated looking for the
utility closet. When they located it, the surrounding corridor was
engulfed in flames.
February 17, 2009 While Sonny visited Claudia in her hospital room, Ric
came in and told them that Trevor had died. Although Ric hadn't had the
greatest relationship with his father, he was still saddened that there
would be no chance for a future together. Claudia didn't understand Ric's
sadness, and she said she would welcome her father's death. Ric was upset
when he learned that Claudia had told Sonny about Anthony's plan. Ric
warned Sonny that Claudia couldn't be trusted. The only reason why she had
revealed the information to Sonny was so she would end up on Sonny's good
side. Once Ric was gone, Sonny wanted to know what Claudia was going to
tell Sonny before his brother had interrupted them. Claudia lost her
courage, and decided not to tell Sonny the truth about Michael's shooting.
Lulu realized something was different about the way Maxie and Johnny were
interacting when she found them celebrating their survival from the
hospital chaos. Lulu mentioned Claudia, and Johnny was immediately worried
about his sister. He quickly left and Lulu listened as Mac lectured Maxie
about the risks she took by going into the hospital. Mac was heading over
to the hospital and wanted Maxie to go with him. Maxie wasn't about to
leave without knowing if Spinelli was okay, though. Lulu offered to stay
with Maxie while she waited for information about Spinelli.
Johnny found his sister at Mercy Hospital and was relieved to find out she
was okay. Claudia took that opportunity to tell Johnny that Kate had found
one of Jerry's DVDs. Johnny was upset and decided that he and Claudia had
to leave town. Claudia managed to convince Johnny that they didn't need to
go anywhere. If Kate did tell Sonny about Claudia's role in Michael's
shooting, it would be Claudia's word against Kate's word. Kate had no
proof, and Claudia was willing to risk it since she had shown her loyalty
to Sonny.
Sam and Jason searched the hospital for Spinelli. They found a supply room
with a locked door. Both Sam and Jason were sure Spinelli would be in it,
but when Jason busted the door open, Spinelli was nowhere to be found. Sam
noticed a grate off one of the air vents was off, and Jason helped Sam
climb into the ventilation system to search for Spinelli. Sam crawled
through the ducts and called out for Spinelli, but was unable to find him.
Sam got down from the air ducts and she and Jason continued searching the
hospital halls for Spinelli. They heard something from above and
discovered Spinelli had been in a different section of air ducts. Spinelli
crawled through the ducts into another supply closet but was horrified to
find oxygen tanks lining the walls. Sam and Jason approached the door to
rescue Spinelli, but suddenly an explosion rocked the hospital. Winnifred
came into the FBI temporary headquarters and asked Maxie if Spinelli had
been rescued yet. Maxie was upset that Winnifred had left Spinelli in the
hospital, and the two women argued. Both women were speechless when they
saw the explosions taking place in the hospital.
Nikolas came into Robin and Emma's hospital room and explained that he had
seen a woman who looked just like Emily. Robin thought it was strange, and
tried to comfort Nikolas. Later, when the doctor told Robin that Emma
would be released, Robin became nervous. She was worried about her little
girl and didn't want her to get sick again. Patrick became increasingly
frustrated as the FBI interrogation seemed to be never-ending. He wanted
to get home to Emma and Robin. Finally, Agent Rayner seemed satisfied with
the information from Patrick and allowed the young father to leave.
Patrick went to Mercy Hospital first but arrived after Mac had taken Robin
and Emma home. Sonny found Patrick in Emma's room and assured him that
Emma was doing fine. Robin also seemed to be doing much better. Patrick
appeared relieved to hear his family was doing so well. As Patrick started
to leave, Sonny thanked him for his part in the heroics from the hospital.
Patrick wasted no time getting home and reuniting with his family. He was
relieved to see Robin holding Emma and acting more affectionate towards
their daughter.
Elizabeth was shocked when a visitor slipped through the door into her
hospital room. It was Rebecca, who claimed to just be checking on Liz
after her previous health scare. Finally, Rebecca revealed that she had
slipped into Liz's room in order to avoid seeing Nikolas, who was stalking
her. Liz tried explaining that Nikolas was obsessed with Rebecca because
of how much she looked like Emily. Nikolas had been in love with Emily,
and it was hard for him to let go. Liz told Rebecca that she should give
Nikolas a break.
February 18, 2009 Robin and Patrick snuggled on the sofa with Emma.
Both parents were happy to be home with their daughter, safe and sound.
Patrick admitted that he assumed there would be more casualties to come as
a result of the biotoxin. However, rather than dwell on his dark thoughts,
he changed the subject by asking Robin about her race to the hospital
during the blizzard. Robin told Patrick that she was through acting as if
she had all of the answers because her arrogance had nearly cost Emma her
life. Patrick listened as Robin told him about the van breaking down, her
trek through the blizzard, and putting Emma in the shelter of a tree to
keep her from perishing in the snow. Patrick felt guilty because he had
not been there for his family, but Robin refused to let Patrick take
responsibility. She reminded him that the crisis at the hospital was
beyond his control.
Robin had her own cross to bear. She told him that she had not acted
rationally. Leaving the security of their home to go into a blizzard to
seek medical assistance when all Emma needed was fluids had been a
mistake. Patrick thought that Robin was too hard on herself, but Robin
disagreed. Later, when Emma began fussing, Patrick stood up to check
on his daughter. After he picked the baby up from her bassinette, he asked
Robin if she wanted to give Emma her bottle. Robin declined the offer. She
said that she knew how much Patrick had missed Emma; therefore she
understood that he wanted to feed their daughter.
Lulu visited Tracy at Mercy Hospital. Tracy was in a surly mood because
the doctors refused to release her. Lulu accurately guessed that the
reason for Tracy's irritation was Luke's continued absence. Tracy admitted
that she had tried to get in touch with Luke, to no avail. Tracy couldn't
believe that she thought that she and Luke had made progress. Lulu
reminded Tracy that Luke often disappeared for no apparent reason; it
wasn't meant to be a personal slight. When Lulu said that she thought it
was crazy to love anyone, Tracy pointed out that Lulu was too young to be
that cynical. Lulu didn't apologize for her attitude. She told Tracy that
even when people tried to stay together, things happened to undermine
their relationships.
Jason and Sam talked to Spinelli as he made his way through an air duct to
a utility room. When he dropped into the room, Jason went to get something
to help break the door down so that Spinelli could get out. At the same
time, Spinelli realized he was in a room with heat-sensitive canisters.
Seconds later, the room exploded. Jason and Sam were momentarily knocked
to the floor as the door blew off. When they brushed themselves off, they
realized that the room Spinelli had been in was on fire. Jason told Sam to
stay put while he went to rescue Spinelli. Sam tried to help, but Jason
made her promise to wait two minutes. If he was not back with Spinelli
after two minutes, then Jason wanted Sam to find a way out of the
hospital. Luckily, Jason found Spinelli, but he was unconscious. Jason
carried him to temporary safety where Sam managed to resuscitate Spinelli.
As soon as Spinelli was on his feet, the three made their way to the
stairwell so that they could go down to the lobby. As they reached the
bottom floor, smoke filled the stairwell. Jason decided that their best
chance for survival was to hold hands and stick together. Jason held Sam's
hand while Spinelli held Sam's other hand. Before they left the stairwell,
Jason instructed both to keep moving forward no matter what happened.
Maxie was distraught over the idea of Spinelli being trapped in the
hospital. Winnifred was equally anxious about Spinelli's welfare. When
Maxie started to run into the hospital, Lucky stopped her. He pulled them
into the police trailer and instructed them to wait there. Maxie bristled
at the order. She reminded Lucky that all of his loved ones had made it
safely out of the hospital, but Spinelli didn't have anyone but her to
worry about him. As Winnifred and Maxie waited for word on Spinelli, they
talked about how wonderful Spinelli was and how much he meant to them.
Later, Maxie and Winnifred stood outside the hospital. Maxie's patience
had worn thin when she realized that the firefighters weren't going into
the hospital to search for Spinelli. She was just about to rush in when
Jason and Sam, holding hands, ran out of the lobby. Spinelli was nowhere
to be seen. Luckily, moments later, Spinelli stumbled out of the lobby,
coughing. Maxie ran up to Spinelli and threw her arms around him.
Winnifred stood nearby, watching as Maxie and Spinelli kissed.
Nikolas approached Marty behind the front desk of the Metro Court. He
demanded information about Rebecca Shaw, including her address and a list
of phone calls that she made and received since checking into the hotel.
When Marty explained that the information was confidential, Nikolas
reminded him that he was part owner of the hotel. Rebecca heard the
exchange and was not happy. She warned Marty that if he gave Nikolas her
personal information, she would call the police to press charges against
Nikolas for stalking and she would sue the hotel. Shortly afterwards,
Lucky arrived at the hotel to see Nikolas. The brothers were happy to see
that each had made it out of the hospital unharmed. Nikolas then mentioned
Rebecca. Lucky told him that Elizabeth had mentioned Rebecca's uncanny
resemblance to Emily. When Nikolas explained that Rebecca was unwilling to
talk to him, Lucky suggested that perhaps Nikolas should leave Rebecca
alone for the time being. Lucky pointed out that Nikolas was unlikely to
learn anything new since the night was already half over.
After Nikolas left the hotel, Lucky went to the front desk to ask to speak
to Rebecca. When Rebecca entered the lobby, Lucky approached her. After he
introduced himself as a police officer, Rebecca assumed he wanted to
question her about the fire at the hospital. She was happy to answer his
questions until she learned that Lucky was Nikolas' brother.
At Wyndemere, Nikolas stood outside to talk to Emily while the snow gently
fell. He promised Emily to find out all he could about Rebecca.
In Claudia's hospital room, Sonny and Claudia talked about their marriage.
Claudia wanted to know where they stood. Sonny admitted that with Anthony
gone, they no longer had any reason to stay married. Claudia reminded
Sonny that she had taken a leap of faith when she had put her trust in
him. Sonny said that he appreciated her show of loyalty and agreed that
they needed to figure out what they wanted from life and each other. The
arrival of Claudia's doctor cut their conversation short. The doctor asked
Sonny to leave the room while he examined Claudia. Sonny stepped into the
hallway where he bumped into Olivia. Olivia told Sonny that he needed to
stop giving Kate false hope. Sonny had no idea what Olivia was talking
about; he reminded her that he was married. Olivia explained that her
cousin continued to talk crazy, convinced that if she just had a chance to
talk to Sonny, things would work out between them. Olivia insisted that
things were a mess and only Sonny could clean it up.
Sonny decided to go to Kate's room to talk to her. Kate seemed genuinely
relieved to finally have a chance to talk to Sonny. She told him how she
had put everything on the line for Sonny: her career and her reputation.
All she had wanted to do was spend the rest of her life with him. Sonny
said that he had wanted the same thing, but had eventually come to the
realization that Kate was better off without him. Kate's confidence began
slipping the more Sonny spoke. When Sonny told her that Claudia understood
him, Kate was visibly hurt. However, she forged ahead. She asked Sonny if
he would return to her if he and Claudia split up. Sonny reminded Kate
that he couldn't protect those he cared for, so he saw no reason to end
his marriage to Claudia. To Sonny's way of thinking, he and Claudia
deserved each other. Kate was stunned. When Olivia came into Kate's room a
short time later, Kate was furious. She told Olivia that she finally
realized that the only thing Sonny cared about was power. Kate vowed to
make Sonny pay for what he had done to her.
Johnny stopped by to check on Claudia. He wanted to know if Claudia had
made plans to leave town, since their father was missing and presumed
dead. Claudia surprised Johnny by telling him that she had told Sonny the
truth about Anthony's paralysis, his plot to pit Jason and Sonny against
each other, and Anthony's role in Kate's shooting. Claudia also told her
brother that she thought she and Sonny were in a better place as a result
of honesty. Johnny thought Claudia was fooling herself if she thought
Sonny wouldn't find out about her role in Michael's shooting. He was
certain that eventually the truth would come out, and when it did,
Claudia's life would be in peril.
Claudia ignored her brother's dire warnings. She told Johnny that staying
married to Sonny was the only way for her to have the life that she
wanted. Johnny thought Claudia was crazy if she believed that Sonny would
ever care for her. Claudia couldn't understand why Johnny seemed eager to
leave town, given his relationship with Lulu. Johnny explained that he
loved Lulu, but he accepted that their relationship would not last
forever. He turned the conversation back to Claudia's dilemma. He reminded
Claudia that Kate knew the truth about Michael's shooting. Johnny warned
his sister that, sooner or later, Kate would tell Sonny. Before Claudia
could respond, Sonny walked in. After Johnny left, Sonny told Claudia that
he had spoken to Kate. Claudia looked like a deer caught in the headlights
until she realized that Sonny did not know about Claudia's secret. Claudia
was shocked when Sonny admitted that he wanted to remain married to her.
February 19, 2009 Edited Sam stood outside of General Hospital, looking at
the burned out remnants of the lobby, when Agent Rayner and Winnifred
walked up. Rayner told Sam that surviving the crisis had been the easy
part; their work was not done. Sam pointed out that the toxin had been
destroyed. Rayner made it clear that he wasn't referring to the poison. He
reminded Sam that Anthony Zacchara remained missing. Rayner questioned Sam
about when she had last seen Anthony. When he determined that she had not
witnessed Anthony's demise, Sam rushed to assure him that there was a
strong probability that he had perished in the fire. Rayner suggested that
she should hope that Anthony had survived for Spinelli's sake.
Alexis came along as Rayner spelled out to Sam and Winnifred the
importance of finding Anthony. Rayner was intent on arresting Anthony or
someone of similar rank in the criminal organization. If he couldn't have
a mob boss, Rayner told them he would be content with sending Spinelli
away for the rest of his life. Alexis pulled Sam aside while Winnifred
tried to reason with Rayner. Winnifred's pleas to spare Spinelli a life
sentence for his cyber crimes fell on deaf ears. Rayner considered
Spinelli a criminal. He decided that since Winnifred was fond of Spinelli,
he would put her in charge of keeping an eye on Spinelli.
Alexis and Sam talked about the crisis at the hospital. Alexis wanted Sam
to know that she would have been waiting when Sam had finally managed to
escape the hospital. Unfortunately, Alexis had been called away at the
last moment. Sam understood and told her mother not to worry about it.
They then began talking about Spinelli. Alexis was worried about Sam
involving herself in a federal case. Sam appreciated Alexis' concern, but
she was determined to help Spinelli. Alexis started to walk away, but
after a few steps she turned back to Sam. Alexis told Sam that she was
concerned because she was Sam's mother. Alexis then warned Sam that
federal judges were appointed, not elected. For that reason, the judges
tended to be brutal when it came to sentencing. Alexis cautioned Sam that
federal judges usually handed out maximum penalties without parole. Sam
assured her mother that she understood the consequences; she promised she
would keep Alexis' warning in mind.
Spinelli woke up in his "regrettably pink room" to find Maxie
sitting next to him with a glass of juice in her hand. She handed the
beverage to Spinelli as she told him how important he was to her. She
wanted Spinelli to stay healthy and stop taking unnecessary risks. Maxie
confessed that she needed him in her life. Spinelli was touched by the
heartfelt words. Unfortunately, a problem at work called Maxie away before
he could do more than thank Maxie for her concern. Winnifred stopped by to
see Spinelli a short time later. She warned Spinelli that Rayner expected
Jason to hold up his end of the bargain. When Spinelli learned that part
of the deal was for Jason to turn in Sonny if they couldn't find Anthony,
he balked. Spinelli refused to allow Jason to give up Sonny in exchange
for Spinelli's freedom. Winnifred suggested that the solution to the
problem would be for Spinelli to leave town and go into hiding. When
Winnifred let it slip that she cared about Spinelli, she realized that she
had revealed too much. Winnifred turned, then ran out of the apartment
before Spinelli could respond.
Edward approached Jax and Carly wanting to discuss a business venture. He
was interested in not just rebuilding General Hospital but improving it.
Carly and Jax agreed to invest in the endeavor. Edward wanted more than
their agreement, he wanted to go over some of the plans. Jax asked Olivia
to be the liaison between the Jackses and Edward for the reconstruction
project. Olivia agreed, then realized that Jax wanted her to start
immediately. She smiled as Jax introduced her to Edward as his personal
assistant. With confidence and ease, Olivia charmed Edward as she guided
him away from Jax and Carly.
