John & Marlena #1 January 30 - April 30, 1986: 8 hour original edit
This edit includes all of Marlena’s scenes and all of John’s scenes from their first scene together which is a doozy! John is at Shenanigan’s and Marlena is taken hostage by gunpoint during a robbery. He goes into cop mode, disarms the robber and takes his gun away, and does the police squat to freeze or he will die! Marlena gives him credit for saving the day. when he rescues her. Steve feels that John looks familiar, but can’t place him. John gets a job in security at the hospital. Then Marlena is attacked by a serial rapist and John rescues her just in time. Then John arrives at the Brady Market as a rowdy crowd causes trouble over Bo’s arrest for treason. John saves the day again. John sabotages the security system at Victor’s mansion, and winds up getting a job to improve Victor’s security which upsets Marlena. She is further annoyed when John creates a sign in sheet to keep track of staff, and assigns an armed guard outside her office door. John continues to investigate the serial rapist who has been attacking women at the hospital.

Marlena’s patient, Jake, admits that he lied to give Ian an alibi during one of the attacks. John and Marlena head over to Ian’s, John breaks down the door, and they are horrified to find the walls filled with pictures of Melissa. John beings making calls to locate her, Pete says she is at Jump/Body Connection. Pete heads there but Ian knocks him out. Soon John and Marlena arrive, John pulls a gun on Ian as he threatens Melissa’s life. Pete comes to and knocks out Ian saving Melissa. Afterwards, Mickey fills John in on the Salem Strangler targeting Marlena and killing her twin sister. Cute scenes as John dances with Carrie at her birthday party. Carrie then requests that John dance with Marlena. John continues to question who he is, as he has no memories of his past. He finds a phoenix tattoo on his shoulder, like Stefano has. He upsets Anna and Marlena when he orders Stega, Stefano’s drink of choice.

Marlena learns that John has amnesia and she talks him into hypnosis to uncover memories. He remembers things that point to him being Stefano and he freaks out. He tries to distance himself from Marlena to protect her but she refuses to be dissuaded. John remembers the farmhouse and when he returns there, he is captured and Steve and Victor learn he is the Pawn. He goes on the run. Marlena is forced to join him when she is taken hostage when she arrives at John’s apartment. He rescues her and they take off together. They try to track down the doctor who did his surgery to try to learn his true identity, but it is revealed he is working with a Russian agent. They arrive at a cabin, and Marlena sees Stefano’s tattoo on John’s shoulder and believes he is Stefano. When John leaves, she calls Bo begging for help and declares that John is really Stefano! John & Marlena #2 April 29 - June 20, 1986: 8 hour original edit
John confronts Marlena, realising she saw his tattoo and now she also believes he is Stefano. Marlena tries to escape, John jumps in the car with her and they wind up crashing. He is very worried when he sees a cut on her forehead. Bo, Hope, and Shane have tracked them to the cabin but they have already left. John has tied Marlena up, and the KGB find her and take her back to the cabin. Marlena realizes her life is in danger, but John rescues her as her time with the KGB agents is running out. They go on the run towards the river, find a raft and steal it taking off down the river. Bo, Hope, and Shane are following close behind them. the The river action sequence has both rafts over turning. John rescues Marlena and performs CPR.

Shane finally gets a message through to Peach requesting ISA back up. Sadly she has a stroke and passes out before she can relay the information. She finally wakes up and gets through to Kimberly, who finds the message from Shane. Kim thinks she has informed the ISA and requested a helicopter but Victor’s man has hijacked her phone line and Victor and his pilot show up, and Victor pops up after they are in the air. They are taken captive by KGB, escape, and Victor finds Bo and saves his life. Bo finds John and they fight on the edge of a cliff, as Bo seemingly knocks him off the cliff, Marlena screams out that he isn’t Stefano but ROMAN! Bo pulls him up from hanging off the cliff. They soon return home and Bo and Hope tell Shawn and Caroline that John Black is Roman. Marlena and John enter the Fish Market and they are reunited with their son.

They attend a gala charity event held in the honour of Bo & Hope’s first anniversary, and Roman makes his first social appearance and is warmly welcomed home though Bo continues to be suspicious. Carrie is having a difficult time accepting this stranger is her father, runs out of the house and is hit by a car. She isn’t seriously injured but does not regain consciousness until Marlena suggests that Roman go and talk to her, telling her he wants her home and she immediately wakes up. Bo talks to her about the challenge of learning John is Roman and looking so different. Jennifer calls Marlena for help when her troubled friend (who is also Marlena’s patient) begins giving away prized possessions. Marlena rushes to see him at his apartment, and finds him suicidal on the ledge. Alice informs Roman of the situation and he arrives on scene, just as Matt goes inside but knocks Marlena off the ledge and she falls to the street below as Roman looks on horrified. John & Marlena #3 June 23 - September 11, 1986: 8 hour original edit
Roman tends to Marlena laying on the ground after her fall. Marlena is unconscious and is brought into the ICU for immediate surgery. Roman has flashbacks of their first moments together after finding one another. Neil informs Bo, Hope and Roman that Marlena has slipped into a coma. Roman rejoins the police force and has more flashbacks of Britta and Stockholm. Roman digs into his past in Stockholm. Marlena miraculously wakes up from her coma. Unfortunately, she is not awake for long and lapses back into the coma. Later, Marlena goes into cardiac arrest as her worried family waits for word. Carrie calls Roman/John “Dad” for the first time. The R&M #3A has a lot of flashbacks, a dream episode when he dreams she is awake, and he is constantly at her bedside begging her to wake up, talking to her. Finally, Marlena wakes up as a thrilled Roman screams her name as she opens her eyes. Roman crawls in bed with her and they get romantic. He brings candles and champagne and proposes, and they plan on getting married next Friday. Roman asks Abe to be his best man. Calliope will design her wedding dress. Gregory from the Stockholm tattoo parlor will arrive on Saturday. Britta steals his number from Roman and calls Gregory, pretending to be Roman’s secretary and asks him to come in on Friday.

Tamara Price (Marilyn McCoo) arrives in time for Roman and Marlena’s pre-wedding. Roman and Marlena get remarried. Afterwards, Roman learns Gregory arrived early and has been murdered. They head to their reception, Marlena tells Roman they aren’t going to Mazatlan but to West Viriginia for their honeymoon to help him solve the Stockholm mystery. When they arrive, they find the KGB cabin is gone. They take some time to have a romantic interlude as they enjoy a picnic in the woods, with a music montage of them making out. Roman notices that someone is watching them and catches the guy to give him a message that he is done with all of this intrigue. When they return from their honeymoon, they then head to DC and Roman tells Vaughn he is out of the ISA. Vaughn urges him to reconsider as there are 25 billion in fake treasury bonds that if they don’t retrieve them can crash the entire American economy. Roman turns over all the information he has, and refuses to continue to be involved. Vaughn declares that Roman took the bonds and only he knows where they are, though Roman has no memory of that. After Roman leaves, Vaughn tells another agent that they will have to use Marlena to get Roman to cooperate. Vaughn sets his plan in motion to get Roman’s cooperation. John & Marlena #4 September 12 - November 28, 1986: 8 hour edit
Dvd #4A Marlena is kidnapped by ISA, though Roman believes Orpheus has her. Both ISA and Orpheus (and Victor) are after bonds worth billions. Britta is shot and killed on the docks. Vaughn coerces Roman into looking for the bonds as that is the only way to get his wife back. Roman had hidden the bonds in Stockholm but doesn’t recall where. Marlena dreams of Roman rescuing her, while Roman has flashbacks to their wedding. Marlena fakes being ill and when taken away by ambulance, she escapes and calls Roman. But when he reports her location, she is retaken by the ISA. Roman turns to Hope for finding the Maryland estate Marlena is being held at based on clues she provided him. They find the estate but Marlena is moved just before they arrive. Marlena is able to leave behind her wedding ring as a clue to Roman confirming she had been held there.

Marlena escapes again with help from a sympathetic captor, but she is recaptured. Roman agrees to search for the bonds out of desperation to find Marlena. Roman insists on seeing Marlena before proceeding with looking for the bonds, and Vaughn agrees to his demands. Roman and Marlena meet at an air strip, she warns him that she is wired for explosives, though he does manage to kiss her. He has a bug in his mouth that he passes to her. Roman needs Steve’s help to solve the mystery, and Steve tells him about the three knife tattoos that he, Bo, and Britta all have. They arrive at the Stockholm tattoo palor and find their contact has been murdered and written Roman’s name in blood. He is arrested, but then released. Marlena realizes she is being held in Stockholm. She is able to escape by drugging her maid and switching clothes with her but is recaptured as she heads to the airport but before Roman sees her.

Dvd #4B There isn’t as much Marlena on the #4B, this one is all about rescuing her from captivity with all the Stockholm action. Orpheus rescues Kayla, and Roman is shot while impersonating Steve to rescue her. While Roman is meeting with the team, he remembers a map hidden behind the Stockholm poster and the three knives point to a location on the map. Unfortunately, Orpheus is linked to Shane’s ISA computer and gets the information at the same time. Everyone heads to Stockholm for the big showdown. When Marlena calls Roman, Orpheus answers the phone and pretends to be working with Roman. Hope continues to work as Roman’s partner (while Bo is under cover with Victor supplying her with information). Roman remembers the store and the three knives point to a location beneath the sign where he hid the bonds. Steve and Roman pretend to be workers digging up the street as Orpheus monitors their progress. Roman is able to retrieve the bonds. When Orpheus confronts him, shots are fired, Orpheus knocks Roman out, takes the bonds and runs when he hears sirens.

Bo rushes to the rescue, and takes Roman away to safety. Marlena calls Roman, and he lies and says he has the bonds and a meeting is set up. Big show down at the pier, with Gillian impersonating Marlena in a blond wig. As Orpheus tries to shoot “Marlena”, Shane jumps in front of her and is shot instead. Gillian tells Roman that the ISA kidnapped Marlena to pressure him into retrieving the bonds for them. Roman demands Vaughn take him to Marlena and he agrees. Meanwhile, an impatient Marlena escapes but is then taken hostage by Orpheus as she wandered the streets trying to get to Roman. Roman remembers accidentally shooting and killing Orpheus’ wife. Orpheus and Roman arrange a meeting, Orpheus shoots Marlena in the back. He tells Roman it is just a tranquilliser. Before he can kill Marlena, Roman throws her down into a storm drain and jumps in after her. They all celebrate back at the hotel, but soon learn that Orpheus has eluded the police. John & Marlena #5 December 3, 1986 - April 28, 1987: 8 hour edit
Roman and Marlena return home and are reunited with their children. Marlena is thrilled with her surprise party that night. Roman receives a note from Orpheus threatening Marlena. Marlena is reluctant about her and Roman's upcoming Colorado ski trip, but he insists they go out of town. Marlena realizes Orpheus is back. Orpheus blows up Roman and Marlena's home with her inside, as Roman looks on in horror from outside. Roman cleans out Marlena's office as Orpheus watches on a hidden remote camera. Abe returns Marlena's wedding ring to Roman. Marlena's memorial, followed by the Bradys trying to enjoy Christmas together, eventually they all show up (even Bo & Hope) and find some joy in the holiday together as a family. Orpheus calls Roman and taunts him about Marlena's death, Roman simply hangs up on him refusing to engage. We then see Marlena on Orpheus' island very much alive. Roman takes Carrie and the twins on the ski trip. Orpheus has set up Roman to rescue Olivia (really his dead wife's sister), though Roman has no idea.

On the #5B, I kept the focus on Marlena’s kidnapping, Orpheus scheme, Olivia’s role in it, through Bo helping Roman by telling him he overheard Victor talking to Orpheus, Bo followed Victor and learned where Orpheus is and he immediately tells Roman. Bo and Abe go with Roman to confront Orpheus. Olivia has informed Orpheus that Roman is on his way, and he is ready for him and plays the video tape of Marlena in the garden, stunning Roman with the idea that perhaps Marlena is still alive. I did include Bo and Roman making peace and Roman showing up to say goodbye to his baby brother as he and Hope leave town. The final Brady scenes learning that Shawn is Bo’s father and the Brady siblings coming together one last time. Roman gets a lead on the private island and heads to find Marlena, with flashback and a fantasy reunion (their last scenes together). Tragically ends with Marlena's death in a plane crash with no hope of survivors though Roman is able to kill Orpheus. Click here to read the full edit description

John returns to save Bo Brady, John critically injured in warehouse fire but retrieves the only possible experimental cure, Versavix, for a dying Bo. John’s family pray for a miracle recovery for him. Tragically he dies just as Bo wakes up. Anna, Shane return for John’s memorial. John’s funeral takes place over three episodes. Hope learns John has died and tells Bo, who insists of speaking at his funeral. Afterwards, John, Roman, Marlena, Kayla, Steve, and Bo gather to pay tribute at the pub to their dear friend, filled with flashbacks.
