Powers: Cyclops has the power to shoot Obtic Blasts out of his eyes whenever he opens them. For that reason he must wear a special ruby quartz visor to help control his powers. Professer X tuaght him how to use this visor.

History: Scott Summers was seperated from his brother and parents when an alien spacecraft attacked the family's private airplane. Scott and his younger brother Alex ,aka Havok, were pushed out of the plane with the only parachute that was there leaving their father and mother behind. Scott and Alex were later found and placed in an orphanage. Scott's brother Alex was quickly adopted, leaving Scott to grow up in the orphanage. As Scott grew older and his powers Grew with him, he was contacted by Professor Charles Xavier to join the school for the gifted youngsters, the X-Men. Scott was the first X-Man to join the team, and was among the original X-Men. He was later given the code name Cyclops, and was given the place of leadership of the X-Men. Later through the years as an X-Man, the team mysteriouly got split up and captured by a living island called the Krakoa. Cyclops was allowed to escape in order to bring more mutants to the island to be captured. Cyclops, not knowing how or why he escaped found his way back to the X-Mansion to Professor X. The professor thought it best to form a new X-Men team and rescue the other X-men held captive. When the new team formed they went to rescue the others and succeeded. Since now the team was too large the original X-Men left except Cyclops who stayed as leader of the X-Men.

Throughout the years the X-Men team has changed members quite often, and when Jean Grey returned to the team something terrible happened. Jean Grey somehow got posessed by a cosmic entity called the Phoenix Force while trying to pilot a spacecraft in a radiation storm.After the Phoenix turned evil she was destroyed and it was assumed Jean Grey was killed along with her. Jean Grey was a long time lover of Scott, and he mourned terribly and left the X-Men. Scott was later tricked when a mutant called Sinister created a double of Jean Grey ,Madelyne Pryor, and Cyclops married her. Scott and Madelyne had a son named Nathan Christopher who was later infected by a techno-organic virus and was sent to the future to be saved. When Cyclops discovered that Madelyne was a clone of Jean Grey he left her.

The real Jean Grey was later discovered not dead, but cocooned at the bottom of Jamaica Bay. It turned out the Phoenix Force cloned her and the real Jean was sent down to earth during the solar-radiation storm. Now that Jean and Scott were reunited they rejoined the X-Men and later left with the original students to form a new team called X-Factor. Eventually Cyclops married Jean Grey after they returned to the X-Men. During "Operation: Zero Tolerance" Cyclops was wounded by a sentinal/human called Bastion who implanted a bomb in his chest. Cecelia Reyes removed the bomb, and Cyclops and Jean Grey decided to retire from the lives of being Super-Heroes and allow Cyclops to heal. Cyclops left behind leadership to Ororo Munroe (aka Storm).During the events of "The Shattering" Professor X was going under a great deal of stress and was causing the X-Men to split up.

Storm called Cyclops and Phoenix and asked them to return and help the team. They decided they couldn't help the professor and started another X-Men team called The Astonishing X-Men. Later the Astonishing X-Men encountered one of Apocalypse's four horsemen "Death" who supposedly killed one of the members, Wolverine! It was later discovered that the dead Wolverine was an alien Skrull imposter, and that the real Wolverine was under the control of Apocalypse as the horseman "Death". Now, the team is all back together and they have been battling to stop Apocalypse from world domination. Cyclops was also revealed as one of the Twelve, who are mutants who play a big role in the battle between Apocalypse. When Apocalypse tried to merge with the mutant Nate Grey (aka X-Man) Cyclops saved him only paying a terrible price. Apocalypse has merged with Cyclops instead of Nate Grey, and is now likely to be dead. My theory is that he will come back in a later issue and that he will be another big role in the destruction of Apocolypes
