Chapter 11: Some Things Will Never Change
Chapter 11:
Sheridan woke up to the sunshine streaming through the windows. She was
wrapped tightly in the arms of the man she loved. She smiled and danced her
fingers on her chest, playfully. She was so lucky to have him in her life.
She had felt so empty and so alone before she met him. Well... when they met,
they didn't actually feel love, they felt hatred, but it was excitment and
now as she looked back on their fights, she realized that they loved each
other even then. She looked out the window at the bright, shining sky.
Suddenly, a thought came into her mind. She heard that the shopping in
Burmuda was wonderful, and she saw all the clothes that Theresa bought when
she went to Burmuda with Ethan. Maybe it would be fun to go shopping for a
while. She looked at Luis and smiled, 'And maybe I'll even get a little
something for Luis." She laughed inwardly and started to get up. Luis groaned
out loud and held her close. Sheridan laughed and struggled for quite a while
to pry out of his grip. When she finally did, she got dressed, left a note
for Luis, and went out to shop.
**A FEW HOURS LATER**
Luis awoke with a smile on his face, but he didn't open his eyes just
yet. He reached next to him, expected to touch the skin of his beloved
Sheridan, but he found nothing. His eyes shot open and he looked around the
room. Sheridan wasn't there. "Sheridan?" Luis called. Luis suddenly felt
something under his hand. He looked and saw that it was a note. It read...
My dearest Luis,
I didn't want to wake you, but I decided to do some shopping before we go
on the boat ride today. Don't worry, I'll be back very soon, and I might have
a little surprise for you, too. I love you very much and I'll see you when I
get back.
With all of my heart,
Sheridan
Luis jumped out of bed and raced to get his clothes on. "Damit. I told
Sheridan not to wander off alone. Who knows what kind of trouble she could
get into. Luis threw on some wrinkled up shorts and shirt and he put on his
shoes and ran out the door. He hadn't made it as far as 20 steps, when he
bumped into someone. He looked up and saw Sheridan standing in front of him.
Because of how hard Luis hit her, she had dropped her bags on the floor.
She looked up at Luis, surprised. "Luis, what's gotten into you?" Luis
didn't say anything. He pulled her roughly into his arms and kissed her
fiercly. Sheridan kissed him back, still a little shocked. When they pulled
back moments later, Luis was still panting for air. His look changed from
desire to anger and he said, "Don't you ever do that to me again?" "Do what?"
"Go off on your own. You know those drug dealers, Roger and Pierre, are still
out there, and that guy who tried to hurt you, yesterday."
"Luis... calm
down." "Calm down. Calm down? Sheridan... I can' bear to loose you." Luis
said seriously. "You know... people usually don't use that tone of voice when
they are talking about their love for others." "Yeah, well I am. I love you,
and I am not just gonna stand back and watch some idiots take your life."
Luis said. Sheridan smiled and said, "If you continue to behave this way, you
don't get the surprise."
Luis's face changed from anger to curiousity and asked, "What surprise?"
"Oh... just something I bought while I was out." Sheridan said, smiling.
"Oh... for me." "For the both of us," Sheridan said. "Let me see it." Luis
whinned. "No, no. Not until tonight." "Tonight," Luis asked. He had a feeling
that whatever it was, it was going to be good. "Yes, tonight... but for now,
we are going on a boat ride out in the sea." Sheridan said as she walked into
their room again. "Okay," Luis sighed, a little disappointed that he had to
wait a whole day for his surprise. "Come on, let's get ready," Sheridan said.
**A FEW (MORE) HOURS LATER**
"Oh Luis. This is like heaven," Sheridan said as the wind swept across
her face. Luis was behind her, holding her in his arms, starring out at the
sea with her. He was more focused on her than the ocean. He could never get
tired of her beauty. She got more beautiful everyday. "I know what you mean,"
Luis said, "I can't wait to get married."
Sheridan asked, "Luis... what do you think it will be like... living
together, i mean." "Mmm, well," Luis said, "We will be the most perfect
couple in Harmony. We would live in our fine house with our 6 children..."
"Six?" Sheridan said as she turned to look at him. Luis said, "Yeah, you're
probably right...... make that ten." Sheridan giggled as Luis continued, "And
all of them, will look just like their beautiful, wonderful mother." Sheridan
smiled, "I think they should look like you." Luis said, "No, I want them to
look as perfect as a angel."
Sheridan rested her head on his shoulder and said, "Anything else you
see?" Luis thought for a moment and said, "They will all graduate and go to
college and become doctors and professors. We will grow old together and live
until we're about 95." "It sounds wonderful," Sheridan said. "We'll live
happily ever after, Sheridan." Sheridan smiled and sighed. He made her feel
so special, so loved.
"Luis... you have changed my life forever. You make me feel so special."
She said as she lifted her head. "You are special, Sheridan. The most special
woman in the world." Luis said as he cupped her face in his hands. "Well...
no one else has ever done that for me before." Luis laid her head back on his
shoulder and rocked her slowly as they listened to the beautiful sounds of
the ocean.
Unknowned to them, on another boat someone was watching them closely.
"Enjoy your time together, because by the end of the day, you will both be
dead." He smiled and watched the two lovers holding each other closely... not
knowing what was ahead of them.
A while later, Sheridan and Luis walked back inside and head some
commotion. They saw a bunch of people gathering around the captain. "Settle
down, settle down." The captain said. "Luis, what's going on?" Sheridan
asked. "I don't know, but I'll find out." Luis said and he walked up to one
of the men crowding around the captain. "Excuse me. What's going on?"
"There is a storm coming," the man said. Luis stood there in shock for a
moment and then looked back at Sheridan. He walked over to her, took her into
his arms, and held her closely. Sheridan asked, "Luis. What's going on?"
"There's a storm coming," Luis replied. "Oh god. We have to turn this boat
around."
Luis nodded and said, "I'll be right back." He saw the captain dissappear
from the crowd as he went to talk to soe people. Luis pushed past the crowd
and followed him. He hid behind a corner and listened to what they were
talking about. "You have to turn this thing around, captain. Now," One of the
men said. "I can't do that," the captain said. "Why not?" "Because this ship
is sinking."
Luis caught his breath. Had he just heard right? The boat was sinking.
"The engine has been destroyed. Someone planted a bomb on the engine. I
called to get help and they can get here in a while, but the boat will be
down before they can get here." Luis was breathless. He couldn't believe this
was happening. He needed to go to Sheridan.
He walked back to where she was. She had a desperate look on her face.
Without a word, he took her into his arms and held her as closely as
possible. "Luis, what is going on?" "Shhh... it's gonna be okay, I promise.
Everything will be okay." Luis whispered as he rocked her slowly. Sheridan
was confused, but she was afraid as to what Luis was worried about.
"Luis... what's going on?" She said as she pulled back from Luis. Luis
gulped and said, "The boat is sinking." Sheridan starred at him with fear in
her eyes. "Sinking?" Luis nodded. "Oh god," Sheridan said as she looked
around her. Luis pulled her into his arms again and tried to comfort her...
