Luis ran the back of his hand over his brow. The night air should have
cooled him. As if on cue
he shivered, a result of the breeze on his sweaty chest. He continued
to install the security device
on her white picket fence.
Sheridan ran the brush through her silky hair and walked over to the
open window. Wearing only
a pink baby doll gown she shivered, not from the breeze that swept into
the room but the sight of
Luis shirtless working outside her window. She turned to shut off the
lights so he wouldn’t
notice she was staring.
Luis watched Sheridan walk over to the lamp and turn it off. ‘Turn
away!’ his mind was telling
him but somehow he couldn’t move his feet and she turned slowly,
expecting his back to be
turned but instead he was staring at her intensely. She mirrored the
look.
But then the moment was broken. He shut the gate and dropped his
hammer. Sheridan assumed
she was dreaming, that the look in his eyes wasn’t there and he had
retired to the couch. She laid
down her brush on the table and turned a corner of her sheets down.
Just then there was a soft tap on her door. Only twice. Tap, tap. She
opened the door.
“Sheridan...” “Luis...I, um” he pushed her back into the room, pressing
his lips against hers
holding her waist so she wouldn’t fall over backwards from the impact
of his body. He kept
kissing her and she hungrily responded wrapping her arms around his
neck.
He kicked the door completely shut with his foot and walked her back to
the bed. There was no
reason to fight this anymore, the physicality between them was
undeniable. “Good, you already
had the sheets down.” Sheridan watched him step out of his remaining
clothes and leave nothing
but his boxers. Sheridan climbed into the bed, knowing full well what
SHOULD happen next.
Luis crawled into the bed on the other side and reached for her. He was
a love-maker of few
words. His body just commanded. Silently he beckoned her into his arms.
She could feel how
much he wanted her on the leg as she snuggled near him. “Sheridan I
won’t take advantage of
you without committing to you. Just lay here with me tonight, and if
you still hate me tomorrow
then I wont hold any of this tonight to you.” She mumbled yes and
kissed him again this time
sliding her tongue over his lips tracing them. When he opened his mouth
to let her in she almost
cried out at the sensation. She pulled away, settling his arms over her
middle and folding hers
over them, locking hands. “Goodnight Luis.” “Night Sheridan” He kissed
the back of her neck.
Soon he was asleep and she lay still, tears slipping down her face,
conflict raging in her mind.
She worried herself into an unconscious sleep, deep and revitalizing.
When Luis woke up he looked at the clock 2:15 p.m. “Wake up sleeping
beauty” He kissed her
lips softly. “I Love you Luis” She whispered, and kissed him back. Then
she closed her eyes
again and leaned against his warm body, tightening her arms around his
back like one would
clutch a teddy bear. “Sheridan it’s 2:15 in the afternoon.” That got
her up. She sprang from the
bed, and rushed into the large closet pulling out purple plaid off the
shoulders shirt and some cut
offs. “Sheridan, when you first woke up...” She leaned onto the bed
near his face “I said I love
you, I meant it! Don’t tell me it was too late to make up my mind..”
She kissed his nose.
“Now
get up Luis” He kissed her on the lips softly “I love you too, and no
it’s not too late. I Just want
to give you warning, I said I wouldn’t take you last night because
there was no commitment.
Now there is and I do intend to have my way with you...soon” he smirked
as she threw a pillow
at him. “Good things come to those who wait Luis.” She went into the
bathroom.
