Chapter 6: Desire
Chapter 6:
Luis was in the living room when he heard Sheridan scream. He felt his
heart sink and knew that something bad had happened. He raced towards his
room. His only thought was of Sheridan and making sure that she was all right
and safe in his arms. Luis turned a corner and stopped in his tracks. He saw
Hank holding Sheridan against the wall, choking her neck. Sheridan's eyes
closed and she passed out. Luis ran towards Hank and lunged at him, tackling
him to the floor. Sheridan fell to the ground, unconscious. Luis and Hank
fought violently like lions. They rolled over each other and punched and
kicked in every direction. Hank socked Luis in the jaw, but Luis kept going.
He couldn't give up, he had to protect Sheridan. Whatever it took, he would
protect her. Hank eventually broke away from Luis and made a run to the front
door. Luis followed him and tackled him before he reached the door. Luis put
on the handcuffs as soon as they hit the floor. Hank struggled to break free,
but Luis held him to the floor. Pilar came in and saw Luis holding Hank on
the floor. Luis looked up at Pilar and said, "Mama. My cellphone is in the
car. Call Sam and tell him what's happened." Pilar nodded and ran out to the
car.
Hank said, "Luis. How could you do this to you own best friend?" Luis
replied, "I will not let anyone hurt Sheridan." "Are you saying that Sheridan
Crane means more to you than me? Why are you doing this? Why are you willing
to give up our friendship for her?" "Because I love her, that's why," Luis
said. Luis felt like a big weight had been lifted off of his shoulders. He
loved her. He loved her more than anything else in the world. He wanted to
shout it out to the world. He wanted to tell everyone how much he loved her.
Pilar came running back inside. "Sam will be here in a few minutes." Luis
smiled at Pilar, "Thanks Mama."
When Sam arrived with the police, Hank tried to break free, but the
officers grabbed him. Sam said, "I'm disappointed in you Hank. I can't
believe you would do this." Sam looked at Luis. "We'll be with you in a few
minutes." Luis nodded. Then, he remembered Sheridan. He ran into the house
and ran back to the hallway where Sheridan was. When he got there, Pilar was
sitting on the floor, with Sheridan's head on her lap. She was stroking her
hair and a few tears fell from her eyes. Luis's first thought was that she
was dead, but she couldn't be. Not after all that they had been through. It
just wouldn't be right. Luis ran to Sheridan's side. "Oh Sheridan," he
whispered. Pilar looked up at Luis and said, "Luis. She's not breathing."
Luis began to panic. He leaned over Sheridan and did mouth-to-mouth. "Come on
Sheridan. Stay with me." Luis continued to do CPR.
Suddenly, Sheridan began coughing. "Oh thank god," Luis said as he took
her into his arms. She was breathing heavily and was very dizzy. Luis looked
up at Pilar. "Mama. Go get her some water." Pilar nodded and ran to the
kitchen. Luis looked at Sheridan, who was still gasping for air. Her eyes
were slightly open. She saw a blurry figure in front of her. She couldn't
tell who it was. She was so delirious. She was lying in his arms and he was
gazing down at her. Her first thought was that he was the mystery man she had
seen in her dreams all of her life. He said, "Sheridan. It's all right.
You're gonna be okay." Sheridan said, "Who are you?" He replied, "It's me,
Luis. I won't let anyone hurt you. I promise." Sheridan smiled and said, "Oh
Luis." She brought her hand behind his neck and pull him towards her.
Suddenly, she kissed him passionately. Luis was shocked at first, but he soon
fell under the spell. He kissed her back and caressed her cheek with his
hand. He was in heaven and never wanted to end this moment...
