Chapter 4:
Luis and Sheridan faces were about one inch apart, when they heard the front door open. Luis pulled back immediately, startled by the sound. "Luis," called the voice. Luis knew that it was Pilar. Both of them tried to hide the disappointment in each other's faces. Pilar called, "Luis. I'm home. Where are you?" Luis whispered, "I have to go talk to her. You stay in bed okay?" "Okay," Sheridan whispered, sadly. Luis kissed her on the forehead and said, "I'll be right back." He got up and walked out the door.
Pilar was in the living room, looking for Luis. She wandered around and suddenly saw Sheridan's coat and purse lying on the couch. "What the? Is Sheridan here?" Luis came into the living room. "Mama! You're back." Pilar picked up the coat and purse and said, "What's going on here, Luis? Is Sheridan here?" Pilar had a panicky, upset tone in her voice. Luis knew what she was thinking. "It's not what you think, Mama. Look." Luis led Pilar to the couch and sat down with her. Luis continued, "Last night, Sheridan came over here. She practically fell in here. Well, when she came, she was all beaten up and hurt very badly." Pilar gasped, "Oh my god. What happened?" "Well... turns out that Hank tried to hurt her. Tried to get her in bed with him, by force."
Luis said, trying to hide the anger he was feeling. Pilar said, "Oh dear god. Is she all right?" Luis said, "She's up in my room sleeping right now. I hope that that's okay with you. I didn't want Sheridan to be alone all night. She was in shock." Pilar said, "No, no. Of course I don't mind. I'm glad that she's all right. But I can't believe Hank would do that to her." Luis looked at the front door and said, "Yeah. The next time I see him, he's gonna pay big time." Luis got up and said, "Well. I have to go check on Sheridan again. I'll be right back." Luis ran out of the living room to his room. He was eager to get back to Sheridan. He was so close to kissing her beautiful lips. He desperately wanted to kiss her. He flung open the door and was surprised to see that Sheridan was sound asleep. Luis was a little disappointed, but he was glad that she was getting some rest. He walked over to the bed. He brought his and up to her face and gently caressed her cheek with his hand.
He smiled and thought, 'No one deserves such pain.' Luis's face suddenly turned to anger. 'God help me. I'll get Hank for doing this to Sheridan.' Luis looked down at Sheridan again. He didn't want to leave her here alone, but now that
Pilar was home, he could ask her to watch over her while he was gone. He leaned over and kissed her on the cheek, then walked out the door. He walked back down to the living room and Pilar walked up to Luis. "How is she?" "She's sleeping right now." Luis said as he put on his jacket. "Are you going somewhere Luis?" "Yes. I'm going to go find Hank and arrest him." Luis said, "Please Mama. Could you keep a close eye on her? I don't want anything to happen to her while I'm gone."
Pilar said, "Oh course, Luis." Luis said, "And if Hank comes here, don't let him inside," Luis said sternly, "call me and tell that he came here and I will be back here in seconds." Pilar smiled, "All right, Luis. You have my word." Luis gave her mother a quick hug before walking out the door. As the door shut behind Luis, Pilar smiled and said, "He's got it bad for her." Outside, Luis shut the door and took a deep breathe. It was a little cold outside and Luis rubbed his hands to keep warm. He looked up at his house at the window to his room.
He smiled and was glad that Sheridan was safe and sound inside. He wouldn't let anything or anyone hurt her ever again. Luis took a deep breath and walked to his car. At the Bennett house, Miguel, Charity, Kay, and Simone were having breakfast. Charity and Miguel were so caught up with each other and Kay glared at them from the other side of the table with jealousy. She turned to Miguel. "I can't believe it, Simone. No matter what I do. I can't get Miguel away from Charity." Simone said, "Kay. He loves her." Kay rolled her eyes and said, "What is he doing here anyway? After what his family has been through, Luis being arrested and all, I would think he would be with his family."
Suddenly, the phone rang. Miguel picked it up, "Hello?" "Miguel?" Luis said. Miguel said, "Luis. Hi. What are you calling for?" Miguel said, "I need to talk to Sam. It's really important." Luis said. Miguel replied, "Okay, bro. I'll go get him." A few minutes later, Sam picked up. "Luis?" "Sam. I need to talk to you, about Sheridan." Luis said. Sam asked, "Why? What happened?" Luis said, "It's about your brother, Hank." "What about him?" Sam asked. Luis said, "Hank tried to hurt Sheridan. He beat her and sexually harassed her. We need to arrest him."
"What? But... Hank would never do that." "I didn't think so either, but that was before Sheridan staggered into my house, clothes torn, and bleeding." Luis said. "Oh my gosh. I can't believe this." "Look Sam. I know you don't want to do this. Neither do I, but I won't let him hurt Sheridan again. He has to be put away before he hurts her again." There was a long pause and Sam said, "I agree, Luis. I'll start looking for him. You keep an eye out." "That's what I'm doing. I'll call you back later if I find him." "Okay, bye Luis." Luis hung up the phone and took deep breath. He was going to find Hank if it was the last thing he ever
