Chapter 21: Desire
Chapter 21:
Sam got out his cellphone and called 911. They said that they would be
there in a few minutes. Sam looked over at the car where Luis was locked
inside. Luis was staring at the burning cabin with a look of fear and shock
on his face. Like he was going to go crazy or something. Sam knew that if the
firemen didn't get here soon enough, who knows what Luis might do. Sam sighed
and looked at the cabin engulfed with flames, and knew that even by now, it
would be a miracle if Sheridan were alive.
Luis continued to stare at the cabin, hoping that Sheridan could come
running out and into his arms again. Oh, what he wouldn't give to feel her
skin again, to hear her voice, to feel her hair, stare into her beautiful
eyes, and kiss her again. If Sheridan didn't make it, Luis might go crazy.
Who knows what he might do if Sheridan died? Luis wanted to be with her,
FOREVER, the way it was always meant to be. He knew that it was sort of a
sper of the moment thing, but deep down in his heart, he knew that this is
what he truly wanted. He would never love anyone else as much as he loved
her. There was just no way that that was possible. He wanted her to be his
forever. To wake up every morning and see her face. He wanted to share his
life with her. To be with her always, through thick and thin.
He wanted to get (yes, you guessed it) married! More than anything in the
world, he wanted to marry her. It would be so perfect. They would get married
and live in the beautiful house that Luis saw. The house that he had just
bought for them to live in. They would live together, raise a family, and
live a happy life. They would be the most perfect couple of all time. A long
time ago, he never could even think about marrying Sheridan. They had been
worst enemies, but so much had changed since then. He got to know the true
Sheridan, the Sheridan that he grew to care for and love. Love comes in the
strangest times, but they were meant to be together forever. No doubt about
that.
Luis was pulled from his thoughts as he heard fire trucks pulled up to
the cabin. The firemen jumped out of the truck and began to get the fire out.
Luis banged on the door, but it wouldn't unlock. He looked at Sam who was
staring back at him and he yelled, "LET ME OUT OF HERE!" Sam shook his head.
He knew what Luis would do if he got out. "DAMIT SAM! LET ME OUT!" Luis
yelled. He held his fist back and punched the window. The window shattered
into a million pieces. Luis jumped out of the car and looked at Sam, who
looked amazed beyond belief. Luis glared at him for a moment before running
to one of the firemen.
"Excuse me, excuse me..." A fireman turned around and
looked at Luis. Luis continued, "Please, there's a woman inside. You need to
get her out. You have to save her." "I'm sorry, sir. But the chances of
anyone getting out of that cabin alive are a zillion to one. I'm sorry, sir,
but there is nothing we can do." The fireman left Luis standing there,
looking like someone had just stabbed him in the heart. His eyes filled with
tears and his vision became blurry. He stood still, looking at the cabin,
hoping for some miracle. For a miracle to let Sheridan be alive.
Suddenly, part of the cabin started to collasp. The firemen were yelling
to each other back and forth. Luis took a few steps towards the cottage and
he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned around and saw Sam standing there
with a look of sympathy on his face. Luis smiled weakly at him, then
continued to stare at the cabin, praying to god that he would be able to see
Sheridan again. The roof started to cave in. The firemen backed away from the
cabin and watched as the roof fell in. The rest of the house remained
standing. Luis stared at the cabin. This was his last hope. His last hope to
ever see Sheridan Crane again.
Suddenly, the front door flew open. Luis jumped up and looked at the
door. Suddenly, he saw Sheridan, walking out of the cottage, holding her side
and dust and smoke marks on her face. She looked up at Luis. Luis looked deep
into her baby blue eyes and smiled widely. Without a second thought, he ran
towards her. As soon as he reached her, he picked her up in his arms and spun
her around. When he set her on the ground, he puleld back, cupped her face in
his hands, and kissed her with all of the fear, love, conern, and desire
inside of him. Then, he reigned kisses all over her face. He pulled back and
looked at her face. She had tears running down her face too, but she was
smiling brightly. Luis brushed a piece of hair out of her eyes and shivered
at the feel of her skin. After many moments, Luis said, "Oh thank god, you're
all right."
Before Sheridan knew it, Luis had pulled her into another passionate
kiss. "Hey, get away from there!" Sam shouted. Luis and Sheridan pulled away
from their kiss as the rest of the house started to collasp. Luis pulled
Sheridan away from the flames and covered her face from the flying depris. He
opened his jacket and wrapped it around her as well, holding them close.
Sheridan laid her head again Luis's chest and relaxed. It felt so good to be
back in Luis's arms. She felt so safe and warm. She had been so scared when
she was in that fire.
She was running around everywhere trying to get out, but a big piece of
depris fell on her and she got caught. It took her a long time to get free,
but she eventually did. They, she went running through the house again, going
through the smoke and flames. When she was almost to the door, the roof
started to cave it. Luckily, the roof didn't fall on her. She opened the
front door and was relieved to see that Luis was there, waiting for her to
come out. And the way he kissed her when she came out told her that he really
cared about her. It made her feel so loved.
A fireman came up to Luis and Sheridan and they looked up at him, with
Luis's arm still wrapped around her shoulder. The man said, "Ma'am. You're
going to have to get checked out at the hospital just the make sure that you
are all right. We'll finish up here and have a talk with you later." Sheridan
nodded and Luis gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze. "Come on, Sheridan. I'll
take you to the hospital." He led her to the car and got inside.
Sheridan said, "You know, Luis. I feel absolutely fine. I should just go
home." "Sheridan. You have to be checked out at the hospital, just to be on
the safe side." Luis ordered. "But Luis__." "But nothing. You are going to
the hospital and that is final." Luis ordered. Sheridan smiled. He was back
to his old stubborn self again. Sheridan finally agreed to go to the
hospital. As they drove back to Harmony, Luis looked out the window and
thought, 'Thank you god. Thank you for saving her. Soon, I'll ask her to make
me the happiest person alive and be my wife.' Luis smiled at Sheridan and
continued to drive...
