Chapter 17: Desire
Chapter 17:
Beth and Luis walked into the Book Cafe. Beth was determined to get Luis
as far away from Sheridan as possible, and she was going to make sure that
Luis fell in love with her. She looked over at Luis, who was starring out the
window with a far-away-look on his face. She knew that he was thinking about
Sheridan and she grabbed his hand. He looked back at her and Beth smiled a
sickeningly sweet smile that made Luis's stomach churn. He knew that Beth
obvious had feelings for her, but when was she going to wake up and realize
that he didn't love her, he loved Sheridan, and only Sheridan? Beth dragged
him over to the counter and asked Chad for a couple of coffees. Beth sat down
at a table with Luis and started a conversation with him.
During Beth's whole conversation, Luis hadn't heard a word. He was too
busy daydreaming about Sheridan. Thinking about how beautiful she was, with
her killer eyes and her flashing smile. And her lips, that we so soft and
sweet. He had felt so awful when he had his last talk with her. He was
determined for her to wake up so that he would hold her in his arms and tell
her how much he loved her. "Luis? Luis?" Beth asked for about the fifth time.
"Huh... what?" Luis said as he snapped back into reality. Beth was a little
disappointed because she could tell that he was thinking about Sheridan
again. 'God, what does it take to get him to stop thinking about her?' Beth
suddenly had a flashback of a conversation with Hank...
**FLASHBACK**
Hank and Beth are at the Youth Center talking. "I can't Hank." Beth said.
"Why not?" Beth paused for a moment and then said, "When Luis said that he
couldn't marry me because he had to take care of his family, I cry myself to
sleep for months. Now, I'm just afraid that if I put my heart out there
again, he's just gonna break it like before." Hank said, "Well, things have
changed now. I mean... Luis's family is grown up now. It's time for you to
make your move." "But Hank__." "Beth. Trust me. You've gotten get him while
you still can, before someone else moves in on him."
**REALITY**
'I'll get Luis if it's the last thing I ever do." Beth thought. She spoke
up, "Um, Luis?" "Yeah," Luis asked, taking a sip of his coffee. "Well, I've
been thinking about us. I... um... I have always thought that we would have a
future together. Spend the rest of our lives together..." "Not this again,
Beth," Luis groaned. "Luis. I'm serious. I want to have a future with you. I
want to get married." Luis said, "Beth. You can't be serious. Look, no
offense or anything, but I love Sheridan, only Sheridan, all right?" "Don't
say that," Beth said, "Sheridan is just a stupid bitch, just like the rest of
the Cranes."
Luis glared at her and stood up from his chair. "Don't you ever, EVER,
talk about her that way. I swear, if you weren't my friend, I'd kill you for
that... Oh my god!" "What?" Beth asked as Luis put his hands over his head.
"Oh my god," he looked down at her, "I know exactly what's going on. You're
trying to get me away form Sheridan so that I'll forget about her. Right?"
Beth hesitated and Luis repeated, "Right?" Beth finally said, "Okay, fine. I
admit it. I am trying to get you away from Sheridan." "You conniving little
bitch," Luis said. He started to walk to the door and Beth stopped her.
"Luis. I know that you may not think so, but I know that I could make you
happier than Sheridan ever could." "No, Beth. Sheridan is the most wonderful
person in the world. I love her. I LOVE SHERIDAN!!!" Luis's words stung Beth
hard. Without another word, Luis stormed out of the hospital and back to the
hospital.
Just as he walked outside of the Book Cafe, he got a great idea. "I know.
I'll go buy her something for when she wakes up at the hospital." Luis walked
around town to find something for Sheridan. He wanted it to be something
special. Something that told her that he loved her so much. But he couldn't
find anything that was really, REALLY, special. He took a walk in the Harmony
National Park to try to think for a while. He walked into a dead end and was
completely surrounded by trees. He was about to turn back when he saw
something behind some of the trees. He walked over to the trees, pushed them
aside and stepped out.
He gasped at what he saw. He was on a beautiful cliff overlooking the
ocean. To the left of him on the cliff, he saw a beautiful white beach house.
It was exactly how it looked like in the dream he had earlier. It was an
amazing sight. Almost like fate. Luis remembered the dream he had about him
and Sheridan and he suddenly got a great idea. The most wonderful idea ever.
Something that would make Sheridan happier than ever. Something that he had
always dreamed of doing. He suddenly took out his cellphone. He dialed the
Crane number (as unusual as that may seem) and Ivy Crane picked up. "Hello?"
"Hello. Ivy? This is Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald." "Luis?" Ivy asked, confused.
Luis said, "Ivy. Do you want Sheridan to be happy?" "Well, of course I do."
Ivy said. "Good, because I'm gonna need you and Ethan's help. I have got the
perfect idea to make Sheridan the happiest girl on earth..."
Luis told his marvelous plan to Ivy and Ethan, who both agreed on his
idea. Luis hung up the phone and ran to a small shop in the town. He went
into a small jewelry store. He looked around at everything and noticed
something that would be perfect for his plan. He pointed it out to the clerk
and said, "That's the one. The perfect one." The clerk took the item out and
Luis decided to take it. It was wrapped up nicely in a few minutes. The clerk
gave the small package to Luis and Luis paid the money. He walked out of the
store with a huge smile on his face. This was definitely going to be a day
worth remembering...
