Chapter 1: Desire

Chapter 1:

Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald collapsed on the couch after a long, hard day at work. He felt pretty lonely, because his entire family was out for the evening, he couldn't find Hank anywhere, and Sheridan wasn't picking up her phone. Luis really wanted someone to talk to, especially Sheridan. This whole impostor issue was finally cleared up. They were beginning to trust each other again. They may even be able to start over their relationship. Sure, Luis was mad at Sheridan for arresting him before, but now the people he were really mad at were Alistair and Julian. How could they have done this to her?

Now, Luis was even more convinced that the Cranes had reasons for keeping them apart, and it wasn't for Sheridan's best interest, or the fact that he was poor. He had a feeling that there was something else they were hiding. Luis was pulled from his thoughts when he heard someone knocking frantically on the front door. Luis walked to the door and opened it. Suddenly, Sheridan Crane fell into his arms. "Oh my gosh, Sheridan!" Sheridan knees began to buckle and Luis fell to the ground with her in his arms. She was shaking and her clothes were torn. She buried her face in Luis's chest and quietly sobbed.

Luis lifted her chin up with his hand and looked at her and gasped. Sheridan's face was covered with bleeding cuts, tears, and bruises. Someone tried to hurt her. "Oh god. Who did this to you Sheridan?" Sheridan saw love and concern in his eyes, but it only made her cry harder. She buried her face in Luis's chest again and cried. Luis wrapped his arms around her and rocked her slowly. "Shh! It's okay. Shh!" he soothed. Seeing Sheridan like this was making his heartbreak. He hated to see her in pain. He just wanted to take all her pain away and make her happy. He was going to find out who did this to her and teach them a lesson they will never forget. She was safe with him though. He wouldn't let anything happen to her.

He would hold her in his arms, out of harm's way. Luis tried to get up to go get the first aid kit, but Sheridan clung to him tightly, afraid to let go. Luis scooped her into his arms. 'This feels so right,' Luis thought. Sheridan wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head on his shoulder. Luis felt his heart skip a beat. It felt so good to hold her in his arms. The scent of her perfume was intoxicating. He walked into the kitchen and grabbed the first aid kit and headed back to the living room. He sat down on the couch with Sheridan in his lap.

He held her back up with his arm and she wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head on his shoulder. As Luis was healing her, Sheridan didn't say a word. She was staring off into space. She was still shaking and tears were running down her face, but she didn't move or make a sound. Luis looked at her and noticed the fearful look on her face. "Sheridan? Sheridan." "Huh... what?" Sheridan said as she snapped back to reality. She tried to hide her fear, but Luis saw right through her.

"Sheridan. It's okay. You're safe now. I won't let anything happen to you. I promise." In a way, Sheridan found his words hard to believe, but she found courage in his eyes. They comforted her and gave her hope. Sheridan said, "I'm just so scared, Luis." Luis felt his eyes well up with tears, looking at this woman. Hadn't she suffered enough? Who would ever want to hurt such a wonderful woman? Luis asked, "Sheridan. Tell me what happened? Who did this to you?" Sheridan paused for a moment. Luis said, "Sheridan. Who did this?"
