Ivy Crane, portrayed by Kim Johnston Ulrich, is the wife of Julian Crane. They have four children, the oldest of which is Ethan. However, only Ivy and her faithful servant Pilar know that Ethan is actually not a Crane at all, but the product of Ivy's love affair with Sam Bennett. Ivy and Sam fell in love over twenty years ago when they were young, but her status as the Mayor's daughter kept her from marrying a poor kid from the wrong side of town. She instead married the rich and powerful Julian Crane, but she still secretly pines for her first love Sam. Ivy has kept many of the Crane family secrets for years, but she protects her own secrets even more fiercely. She loves her children but not her husband, and she finds his business practices and his personality repulsive.
Kim Johnston Ulrich is well-known to soap fans as Diana McCall from As the World Turns, a role she played for more than two years. She's had guest spots on an extraordinary number of television series, including Hunter, Smart Guy, Seventh Heaven, Diagnosis Murder, Cheers, Valerie, The A-Team, Wings, Who's the Boss, Lois & Clark, and 3rd Rock from the Sun, to name a few. Her contract roles are equally as impressive, with roles in Nightengales, Jake and the Fatman, and Reasonable Doubts. Her film credits include TV's Hostage Flight and Dazzle, as well as the horror films Blood Ties and Rumplestiltskin. Looks like Kim is Harmony's resident Scream Queen!
Ulrich lives in L.A. with her husband Robert and their son, and she spends her free time gardening, cooking and interior decorating. She was quoted as saying in a recent interview that she'd love for Ivy Crane to run into Tabitha around Harmony, and for Tabitha to shudder and say "Takes one to know one". Personally, I think that's a great story idea.
