Uh-oh, here comes "American Idol".... but will it be as big as before? My money says no. Interest in the series definitely peaked last season, and Fantasia, last year's winner, has been a non-entity in the music world ever since. So should the other series worry? Yes, definitely. In fact, the only two series with nothing to worry about are "NCIS," which will be second in adults in the timeslot, and "Gilmore Girls," which actually grew opposite "Idol" last season. ABC and NBC will fight for third, while the UPN will fight for whatever is left.

With the expected diminishing returns for "Idol," the spillover into the 9pm hour will be even less pronounced this winter. "House," however, is drawing solid numbers even without "Idol" and should be able to breech 10 mil viewers with the improved lead-in. "The Amazing Race" will win the hour in demos and viewers, with ABC and Fox fighting it out for second. NBC is a wild card in the hour- the promos for "Committed" look interesting, but essentially, this is a dead hour for the network. The WB will be fifth with "Veronica Mars" fighting for the left-overs.

"Blue" may be drawing to a close, but that won't stop "SVU" from taking the hour. "Amy" and "Blue" will fight for second, with ABC prevailing in demos.
